Ch. 1231..1240
Chapter 1231
Fabian felt slightly guilty for everyone was disappointed. He hadn’t expected the house to be overrun
with weeds.
“Yeah,” Hannah replied weakly.
“What? Did she say no? What exactly did she say?” Lyna jolted up from the couch in shock after Felicia
relayed everything to her.
“What else? She claimed Fabian wants to decide who to marry himself. She can’t interfere with his
decision,” answered Felicia.
“How could she go back on her word? She agreed to it herself! I can’t believe someone as wealthy as
her would be so untrustworthy!” Lyna grumbled.
She thought her parents would come back home with news of her marrying into the Norton family, but
alas, they came back with bad news instead. How could she not be furious?
“No, this isn’t as simple as it looks. Does Fabian’s mother despise us?” Felicia questioned her
daughter.
“Impossible! If she despises us, she wouldn’t have agreed to the marriage in the first place!” Lyna
narrowed her gaze as her mind raced.
“Fabian wants to decide who to marry himself. Fabian wants to decide who to marry himself. Fabian…”
she muttered to herself.
Suddenly, her face contorted with hatred. With her eyes wide open, she gritted out angrily, “Hannah
Young! It must be her. I knew she and Fabian were acting strangely. They are not siblings!”
Evidently, Lyna had placed the blame on Hannah again.
“Hannah Young? Really? But Fabian said he thinks of Hannah like a sister. Does he have to lie to us? If
there’s something between him and Hannah, why is she still a lowly journalist?”
Felicia didn’t think Hannah was the reason Fabian refused to marry her daughter.
“I’m not sure how, but Hannah is somehow involved!” Lyna insisted. Her hatred for Hannah heightened
immediately. At the thought of how blissful Hannah was, she wished she could rip that b*tch into
pieces.
Meanwhile, Hannah and her gang were about to reach the hospital.
They didn’t get to enter her mother’s home, but she did have fun with her gang.
Ah, the scenery was amazing. Mom’s hometown is a wonderful place. Next time, I’ll make sure to be
well-prepared for a short stay there.
Soon, the car came to a stop at the hospital.
Fabian, as usual, held the door open for her. Hannah flashed a smile and stepped out of the car.
Immediately, her smile froze in place.
Sensing her discomfort, Fabian looked where she was looking and frowned.
“Ms. Young, you’re back? My friend brought this reef clay mask back from the South Ocean. I heard it’s
good for your skin, so I bought one for you.” The man was none other than Xavier.
“You’re as annoying as a bug!” exclaimed Helen unhappily.
“What a damper. Isn’t it obvious we had just returned from a family trip? Mr. Jackson is seriously
irritating, huh?” After Jason got off the car, he looked straight at Helen and sneered.
“Helen! Jason! Don’t be rude!” Hannah reprimanded them at once. After all, Xavier remained polite the
whole time. She couldn’t afford to offend him as he was her interviewee.
Chapter 1232
Both Hannah and Jason glared at Xavier before zipping their mouths shut. They didn’t continue
scorning him as Hannah had reprimanded them.
“It’s fine. They are just kids.” Xavier waved it off.
His answer was interpreted differently by Jason. How dare he say I’m a kid?
He’s just a few years older than me! If it weren’t for Hannah, I would’ve given him a beating!
Xavier handed her the reef clay mask again. “This is just a little gift. Please accept it, Ms. Young.”
“Uh…” Hannah was at a loss for words. What’s with the sudden gift? If I accept it, it will seem like I’m
accepting his proposal. If I refuse to accept it, what will others think of me? It will be embarrassing for
him, too. What should I do?
“Don’t you like my gift?” Xavier added.
What the heck? Hannah was rendered speechless. I never wanted any gift from you!
“Yeah, it’s not that great.” Right then, Fabian stepped out with a smirk on his lips.
“I’m giving Ms. Young a gift. Why are you stating your opinion, Mr. Norton? You can provide your
opinion when someone gives you a gift,” retorted Xavier icily.
“Mm, you’re right. I wasn’t about to give my opinion, but your gift is too shabby. Indeed, East Ocean is
famous for its reef clay mask, but I remember the effects aren’t that good. You’re wasting Hannah’s
time. Besides, she has plenty of reef clay masks that I bought from the East Ocean. Why would she
use a shoddy product from the South Ocean?” answered Fabian with a polite smile.
He didn’t seem to be mocking Xavier, but his voice was firm.
Xavier’s cheeks went pink at his words. Seeing how smug Fabian was, he retaliated, “The quality of the
gift doesn’t matter as long as it shows my sincerity. I believe it’s better than someone who is all talk but
no action.”
“Oh? Are you talking about me, Mr. Jackson? What a joke,” Fabian scoffed. “Everything that is mine is
also Hannah’s. There’s no need for gifts between us.” The grin on his face widened.
Xavier’s lips trembled in fury. He was so furious words failed him.
“Ah, let’s go.” Fabian spared Xavier one last glance and took Hannah’s hand. “It’s windy out there. Be
careful,” he reminded her gently.
Hannah initially wanted to bid goodbye politely to not embarrass Xavier, but Fabian led her away
without letting her do so.
Helen and the rest trailed behind them.
Before Jason turned to leave, he made a funny face at Xavier.
An awkward silence ensued as Xavier was left alone.
Fabian Norton! I will never give up. You don’t deserve Hannah.
Xavier flung the gift out at the thought of that.
Hearing the commotion, Fabian raised a brow and muttered, “Ah, look at him. How dare he try to take
my woman from me?”
“Ah? What did you say?” Hannah was busy sympathizing with Xavier to hear Fabian’s mumbling
clearly.
Fabian chuckled. “Oh, it’s nothing. Let’s go.”
After Hannah returned to her ward, Amelia showed up with dinner. As usual, Fabian fed her the food.
He didn’t think much about it, but Hannah flushed red in embarrassment. Winson has been eating
himself since two days ago. However, I still need Fabian to feed me.
As Helen and Jason kept teasing them, Hannah lowered her head shyly as a crimson red crept up her
cheeks.
Chapter 1233
After dinner, they chatted in the ward amiably.
Hannah was delighted as this would be her last night in the hospital.
My bed, I’m coming!
This very night, Hannah had a restful slumber. Seeing her smiling in her dreams, Fabian felt a surge of
happiness within.
The next morning, the sun crept up over the horizon and began to peek its glowing crown over the
land. Hannah opened her eyes and stretched lazily. She was about to get up when she realized Fabian
was nowhere to be seen.
Hannah wondered, Doesn’t Fabian feel tired? He sleeps later and wakes up earlier than me every day.
He also needs to work. I don’t get it. Is he a robot?
She shook her head and grinned to herself. “He doesn’t understand how important sleep is. Well, that
man has no idea how to enjoy life.”
After washing up, Hannah packed her stuff up. Shortly after, Helen and Jason arrived in her ward.
“Eh? Where is Fabian?” Jason asked the moment he stepped in.
Hannah shook her head. “I don’t know. He wasn’t here when I woke up earlier.”
“Let me help you pack up,” offered Helen.
“I can do it myself. I’m not a patient anymore. It has been a torture to lie in bed for the past few days,”
replied Hannah with a smile. She appreciated Helen’s concern, though.
Soon, Hannah finished packing up her stuff. They could leave when Fabian came back.
Right then, the door was pushed open. Thinking it was Fabian, Hannah raised her voice. “Hurry! We’re
waiting for you!”
“Huh? Waiting for me?” Instead of Fabian’s voice, a woman’s voice rang out.
“Why would you be waiting for me?” Lyna came to them and questioned curiously.
Yes, Lyna had decided to take action against Hannah. She was here to gain Hannah’s trust so her plan
could succeed.
“Oh, we’re waiting for Fabian,” responded Hannah hastily.
As Lyna remained doubtful, Hannah explained, “I’m about to be discharged from the hospital. I think he
went to take care of the procedures.”
“Oh, I see. You’re alright now?”
“Yes. The doctor said I can leave anytime,” came Hannah’s answer.
At the same time, Hannah couldn’t hide her surprise. Why is Lyna here alone? Don’t the rest of the
Blackwoods know Winson will be leaving the hospital today, too? None of them are here to pick him up.
Didn’t Fabian inform them? I don’t think so, though.
They chatted briefly before Fabian returned.
Heather might’ve called off Fabian and Lyna’s marriage, but the latter refused to give up. She blindly
believed that she would end up with Fabian if she could get rid of Hannah.
“Hello, Fabian,” she greeted him warmly.
Hannah found her tone uncomfortable, but she said nothing.
Fabian found Lyna disgusting. He was familiar with women like her with an ulterior motive. Inwardly, he
shook his head and thought, That silly girl is much more likeable.
A smile flitted across his lips as he made his way toward Hannah. “I’ve dealt with the discharge
procedures. On the way back, I ran into some friends and chatted with them briefly, hence the delay.”
Oh? He’s explaining the reason for his delay? Hannah’s lips curved up into a smile as she whispered,
“Alright. Let’s wait for a bit. The Blackwoods aren’t here yet.”
“Mm.” Fabian glanced at Lyna and nodded.
“This woman obviously has an ulterior motive for being here. I think she harbors feelings for Fabian.
Tell Hannah to keep her guard up,” Jason whispered in Helen’s ears after he gave Lyna the once-over.
Chapter 1234
“Nonsense. Look, she cares for my sister a lot!” Helen scoffed, refusing to believe Jason’s words.
“Oh, I know. Are you nursing a grudge because she called you a kid? Excuse me, you’re an adult. Why
are you so petty?”
As Helen had misunderstood him, Jason tried to explain himself. “I’m not like that! I really think she—”
“Enough, enough. I trust you. Why are you so emotional? Aren’t you afraid she’ll overhear us?” Helen
hurriedly interrupted because Lyna was already casting strange looks at them.
During their banter, the door was opened again to reveal an elegantly dressed middle-aged lady.
Jason, who was right beside the door, immediately rushed out to welcome her.
“Oh, Aunt Heather. Welcome, welcome.”
“You’re here too, Jason?” the lady flashed a pleasant smile and followed behind Jason.
When the lady walked past Helen, the latter greeted her politely. “Hello, ma’am.”
Deep down, she was rolling her eyes. How many godparents does Jason have?
Yes, Jason’s godmother was none other than Heather, Fabian’s mother. When Jason was young, he
admired Fabian a lot. As the Goldsteins and Nortons were close friends, Fabian’s parents agreed to be
his godparents readily.
Compared to his other pair of godparents—the Youngs—which Jason found himself, Heather and her
husband had taken Jason to be their godson in an official ceremony.
“Hello, Mrs. Norton!” Lyna was beaming upon spotting Heather’s arrival.
She thought Heather was here to console her after rejecting the wedding proposal yesterday, which
explained her excitement.
“Lynnie.” Indeed, Heather was feeling guilty over yesterday’s events. After all, she had gone back on
her word.
Meanwhile, Hannah’s anxious gaze landed on Fabian as she tugged at Fabian’s shirt.
Why is Fabian’s mother here? What should I do? There is a crowd here. How should I address her?
Mom? But that will mean revealing my status as Fabian’s wife. Should I stay silent? But she’s my
mother-in-law. Will she think of me as a rude person?
Seeing how flustered Hannah was, Fabian flashed a confident smile. Huh. Is my mom a wolf or a tiger?
She won’t eat you. Why are you so scared?
As Lyna could sense Heather’s hospitality, she grew increasingly excited. “Why are you here? Actually,
yesterday—”
Before she could finish, her smile froze on her lips upon hearing Heather’s answer.
“Oh. I’m here to visit Hannah,” Heather cut in and walked past her.
Ugh, it’s Hannah Young again! I knew it! She’s standing between me and Fabian.
Lyna’s fists balled up angrily as she glared at Hannah.
Hannah remained oblivious to her glare. She had no time for Lyna currently.
“Hannah!” Heather called out and took her hand.
What now? What now? Should I address her now? Fabian, help me!
It was as though Fabian heard her cries for help. He stepped out and interjected, “Mom, why are you
here?”
Hannah heaved a sigh of relief. Ah, thank goodness for Fabian.
“Me? I’m here to visit Hannah, of course. What else?” Heather glowered at her son and huffed.
She turned back to Hannah, the displeasure all gone from her expression. “Hannah, how are you
doing? Are you feeling better now?”
Chapter 1235
Jason could barely hold in his laughter. Haha! Aunt Heather had just ignored Fabian!
Shaking his head wordlessly, Fabian’s lips curved up. He wanted to help Hannah, so his objective had
been achieved. Since his mother adored Hannah, there was nothing for him to worry about.
The most agitated person was none other than Lyna. Her eyes reddened as her fists balled up. She
had lowered her head, but it was clear how indignant she felt. Her hands, which had reached out to
hold Heather’s hand earlier, were bleeding as she had dug her nails into her palm forcefully.
“Mm, I feel much better. I’m leaving the hospital today.” Hannah was Heather’s daughter-in-law, but she
didn’t feel inferior because of her status.
Her slightly trembling voice remained calm. Obviously, she was still shaken by the close call.
“Yes, I heard about it from Fabian, so I came specially to visit you. I’m glad you’re alright now.”
Heather didn’t like Hannah to begin with, but after she hired someone to run a background check on
Hannah, she realized the latter had never used Fabian’s card. Hannah resided in Fabian’s villa, but she
didn’t spend a lot on her clothes.
To Heather’s utter surprise, Hannah returned the bags Fabian bought for her.
Clearly, Hannah wasn’t putting up an act. She wasn’t interested in spending Fabian’s money at all.
In the end, Heather grew to like her daughter-in-law.
“I suddenly remember I have something on. I need to leave now,” gritted Lyna out as her face contorted
in anger.
“Lyna, have a safe trip home.” Hannah was the only one who replied to her.
Heather nodded in response while Fabian pretended not to hear her and continued peeling fruit for
Hannah.
The moment Lyna stepped out of the room, her steps turned heavy. She trudged ahead as the sound of
her high heels echoed down the corridor.
Whipping out her phone, she scrolled to someone’s phone number and made a call.
When the call was connected, she glanced around and made sure no one was around before
whispering, “Find out everything about Fabian and Hannah. No expense is to be spared in this
investigation. I’ll be waiting for you at Radford Holiday Cafe.”
After hanging up, her gaze flickered as a vicious grin appeared on her lips.
I’m not the only one who wants to marry Fabian. Don’t blame me for making you everyone’s target.
Let’s see how you will deal with all the schemes.
Meanwhile, Heather chattered with the others amiably before leaving to visit a friend of hers.
“Call the Blackwood family. Did they forget about Winson’s discharge from the hospital today?” Jason
demanded angrily. They were prepared to leave, but none of the Blackwoods were here, so they
couldn’t leave.
Jason was growing increasingly impatient. How could the Blackwood family forget about Winson? If I
were Winson, I would’ve left their family by now.
“Well…” Hannah trailed off hesitantly. I don’t think the Blackwood family has forgotten about this. They
must be busy with something, hence the delay. They might be heading here now.
“There’s no need to call them. Winson can move into my place, which Fabian allowed me to stay for
the time being. My holidays aren’t over yet, and I will be there for some time. We can go out and have
fun together,” Helen suggested.
She turned and asked Winson, “Will you stay with me for the next few days, Winson? My place is
nearby Hannah’s house. That way, we can spend more time together.”
Chapter 1236
Winson couldn’t even find someone to talk to in the Blackwood Residence, let alone someone who’d
spend time with him. Immediately, he agreed to Helen’s suggestion. “Sure, no problem! I’ll stay with
you!”
Helen looked at her sister to gain her approval.
Seeing how excited Winson was, Hannah gave her a slight nod. Bitterness engulfed her heart when
she realized how much her little brother had suffered in the Blackwood family.
If I weren’t staying with Fabian, I would’ve asked him to move in with me.
“Let’s go!” As they had come to a decision, Fabian spoke.
He told his subordinates to bring both Hannah and Winson’s stuff to his car.
“I’ll drop Winson off. Fabian, you can drop Hannah off to save time. We can have lunch on our own,”
suggested Jason after glancing at his watch.
Fabian nodded in agreement.
“Time for our parents to meet up,” Fabian told Hannah coolly when they were both alone in the car.
“Huh?” His words took Hannah by astonishment.
“Don’t worry. I’ve already told your parents about it,” explained Fabian. He knew what Hannah was
concerned about.
Hearing his explanation, Hannah heaved a sigh of relief. “Sure. I’ll ask my parents out for lunch, then.”
Nevertheless, Hannah felt nervous at the thought of her parents meeting Fabian’s mother. They will talk
about us a lot. Luckily, my parents aren’t greedy people. Otherwise, that will be embarrassing.
Soon, they arrived at the villa. Hannah exhaled sharply. Finally, I no longer need to sleep in the tiny bed
in the hospital!
They unpacked her stuff together and booked a private room at the hotel for lunch. Fabian then called
Jason to ask him to bring Hendrick and Gillian to the hotel.
“The driver will give you a ride there. I need to go pick my mother up,” Fabian instructed.
“Sure!” Hannah nodded.
On the way to the hotel, Hannah stared blankly at the passing scenery. She didn’t know what to feel
about the current situation. Everything felt perfect yet surreal.
Am I going to settle down with Fabian? When will our wedding be held? Or is this just a simple meeting
between our parents?
Suddenly, a scene of Fabian feeding her soup flashed across her mind.
He was such a gentleman. Instinctively, she leaned nearer to him so she could snuggle into his warm
embrace.
Alas, she knocked right into the cold window.
Shaking her head, Hannah berated herself for being delusional, but the grin on her face was
unmistakable.
Fabian must be serious this time, right? Hannah thought.
She didn’t know the answer to that question. After all, only Fabian himself knew whether he was
sincere or merely toying around with her feelings.
Soon, the car arrived at the hotel. When Hannah got off the car, she immediately spotted Helen waiting
at the entrance.
“Hannah! This way!” Helen waved her hands excitedly.
“Hannah, Jason told me Fabian’s mother wants to meet our parents. Are they going to discuss your
marriage?” asked Helen curiously.
“Hey!” Hannah blushed and gave her a vague reply. Instead of continuing the conversation, she strode
ahead.
“What’s wrong? Are you feeling shy? You’re living together with Fabian. Why are you still this shy?”
teased Helen.
“Stop it!” uttered Hannah in exasperation. She knew Helen was teasing her on purpose.
Chapter 1237
“Fine, I’ll stop.” Helen caught up to her and took her hand as they headed in together.
Hannah was wondering how Fabian explained the situation to her parents. As he said nothing to her,
she might accidentally let out too much.
Before she could come up with a solution, they arrived at the private room.
Ah, I’ll have to wing it until Fabian arrives.
When she pushed the door open, she saw Jason blabbering to her parents, who were listening to him
attentively.
She could hear Fabian’s name being thrown around.
“Dad, Mom!” Hannah greeted them.
“Uh, you’re here!” Jason turned his head, seemingly shocked to see her. As he was gossiping about
Fabian and Hannah to the Youngs, he immediately froze awkwardly.
“Go on!” Helen smirked and urged him to continue his talk.
“I-I…” Jason stuttered, but nothing else came out of his mouth. In the end, he turned to the Youngs and
offered, “Uncle Hendrick, Aunt Gillian, Hannah’s here. You can talk to her.”
With that, he sprinted to the seat right next to them and plopped down into the chair.
Helen gave him a disdainful gaze and muttered, “Ha! I knew you’d act this way.”
“Hannah, Fabian told me everything,” said Hendrick.
“Mm, yeah. That was what happened,” replied Hannah awkwardly. She had no idea what Fabian told
her parents.
“Come sit beside me, Hannah,” said Gillian warmly. She had always adored Hannah and was delighted
at her daughter’s recovery.
She took Hannah’s hand and bombarded her with all sorts of questions. Hannah responded hastily.
Luckily, Jason was there to help her fend off some questions.
Meanwhile, Hendrick was talking to Helen softly, asking how Fabian treated Hannah usually. Although
Hannah found out they were her adoptive parents, he was still the person who brought her up. Their
relationship remained the same, so he was concerned about Hannah’s marriage.
At that moment, the door swung open yet again, revealing Fabian and Heather’s figures.
Immediately, Hannah breathed a sigh of relief at that. Finally, I don’t have to answer to Mom myself. I
wasn’t even this nervous when I talked to Heather. Mom thinks I’m a good girl. What will she think of
me when she realizes I got married to Fabian out of anger?
“Dad, Mom,” greeted Fabian politely.
All at once, Hannah was rendered speechless. She regained her composure swiftly and greeted
Heather, “Mom.”
Helen, who didn’t know they were married, jolted in shock. What the heck? They aren’t even married
yet. Why are they calling each other’s parents Mom and Dad? What’s with the rush?
“Take a seat, take a seat.” Hendrick was all smiles. After hearing what Helen had to say about his son-
in-law, he was pretty satisfied.
“Sure.” Heather was beaming happily, too. When Hendrick pulled out the chair for her, she took a seat
without hesitation.
“Mom, they are my parents,” introduced Hannah with a shy smile.
They had registered for their marriage a year ago, but their parents hadn’t met each other. I can’t
believe our parents don’t recognize each other until today!
Chapter 1238
Seeing the flush on Hannah’s cheeks, Fabian shook his head and introduced his mother to the Youngs.
“This is my mother.”
Of course. Hendrick thought. But why is his mother here alone? What about his father? He stopped
wondering after a while. He must be busy running his business empire. Obviously, he isn’t as as me.
They started chatting merrily. Heather was so excited she even talked about Fabian’s childhood.
Hannah couldn’t help but giggle after hearing about Fabian’s childhood. She didn’t know he was such a
cheeky kid.
Jason perked his ears up so he wouldn’t miss anything. Fabian was already an accomplished man
when Jason started working for him, so it was rare to get to hear about his childhood stories.
At first, Hendrick and his wife were slightly cautious because of Heather’s influential background. They
were afraid of saying something wrong which could potentially embarrass their daughter. As their
conversation flowed along smoothly, they soon realized their in-law was down to earth. Soon, they let
down their guard and chatted heartily with her.
Lunch was over rather quickly. As the parents had a great time, Fabian and Hannah felt thrilled too.
During lunch, Heather never mentioned their wedding. Strangely, a trace of disappointment crept into
Hannah’s heart.
As Heather steered clear of this topic, Hendrick couldn’t bring himself to mention it. It would be too
embarrassing to mention the wedding as a representative of the bride since the groom’s mother said
nothing about it. There was also the question of the wedding gift. If he were to mention it, people might
think they were after Fabian’s money.
Fabian then asked Jason to give the Youngs a ride home while he brought Hannah and Heather back
to Norton Residence.
Upon arrival, Hannah inhaled sharply when she saw how grand Norton Residence was. Once she
recalled Phoenix Group was one of the top companies in the country, she relaxed visibly. Fabian is the
president of Phoenix Group. No wonder the Nortons reside in this huge residence.
They entered the living room and headed for the couch. Before they could sit down, Heather blurted
out, “Fabian, Hannah, when are you holding your wedding ceremony?”
Hannah froze awkwardly at her sudden question. Clearly, she had no idea when the wedding would be
held as Fabian called the shots in their relationship.
However, Fabian remained silent. Heather turned at her shoulder and urged, “When?”
As Fabian remained unfazed and showed no signs of answering Heather’s question, Hannah thought
he wasn’t going to marry her.
Her lips parted as she uttered in disappointment, “Mom, about our wedding—”
Before she could finish, Fabian stepped forward and pulled her into his arms.
His sudden actions caught Hannah by surprise. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at him.
“What the heck are you doing? Your mom is right beside us. Let me go,” she whispered in his embrace.
Her brows were knitted, so Fabian smirked and drawled, “What’s wrong? Are you shy?”
Hannah was rendered speechless. She felt a flash of irritation upon seeing how cheeky he was. What
the heck? Just say you don’t want to marry me. I didn’t force you to hold the wedding ceremony,
anyway.
She was deep in thought when Fabian announced, “Mom, the wedding will be held tomorrow.”
Hannah’s breathing turned quick at his announcement. She bit her tongue in astonishment. The pain
caused her to hiss out loud. This isn’t a dream.
Tomorrow? Our wedding will be held tomorrow? Hannah couldn’t believe it as it was too unreal. She
couldn’t help but ask herself, Has he decided to marry me for real?
Chapter 1239
“Why? Are you stunned by the joyful news?” Fabian gazed at her affectionately as a cheeky smile
appeared on his lips.
“N-No!” Hannah retorted and stepped back hastily, afraid Fabian would see through her.
Fabian flashed a grin and let her be.
A corner of Heather’s mouth quirked up when she saw how loving they were. She felt happy for Fabian
had found his lifelong partner.
“Have you prepared everything? The wedding invitations, wedding cars, wedding party and such,”
asked Heather.
“Mom, don’t worry. Everything’s prepared,” Fabian assured her. He had been preparing for the wedding
for some time, so nothing would go wrong.
“You should go take a rest, Mom. I’ll bring Hannah to try on her wedding dress,” Fabian told her.
“Ah, you think I’m annoying now. Fine, you can go try on the wedding dress. I’ll take a nap.” Heather
feigned fury. However, her voice showed no hint of irritation. Clearly, she was pleased with how loving
her son and her daughter-in-law were.
Meanwhile, in a private room in Radford Holiday Cafe, a woman threw a file onto the table furiously.
“Ha! I knew it!”
“They are living together! Did you cast a spell on Fabian, Hannah?”
It was Lyna. She continued yelling, “Back then, Fabian confessed his love to Hannah at her company.
They have been living together ever since! Why didn’t you find out about this in your previous
investigation?”
“W-Well, my subordinate made a mistake and…” the other man stuttered.
“Do you know what your mistake cost me? Can you bear the responsibility?” Lyna hissed menacingly.
The man parted his lips but said nothing. After all, it was his mistake for overlooking the matter.
“Forget it. I won’t pursue the matter,” announced Lyna arrogantly. “I have another mission for you—
spread the news that Fabian and Hannah are living together.”
She narrowed her gaze smugly. Ha! How dare you lie to me, Hannah. I trusted you when you told me
you were siblings. Do you seriously think I won’t find out?
Don’t blame me for spreading the news. Let’s see if everyone else will listen to your explanation. Even
if they accepted your explanation, will they continue trusting your words?
At that thought, a crafty smile crept up her lips.
“Remember to clean up after you, so no one will know I am behind everything. If you make any
mistakes, no one will dare to hire you again,” instructed Lyna icily.
“Yes. You won’t be disappointed this time, Ms. Blackwood,” the man promised. He didn’t like Lyna’s
attitude, but he couldn’t say anything as she was his employer.
“Alright, that’s it. You can leave…”
Before Lyna could complete her sentence, she was interrupted by the sound of her ringing phone.
She took her phone out irritatedly before realizing it was a call from Felicia. “Hello, Mom. What’s
wrong?” she whispered.
“Lynnie! I just received a wedding invitation from the Norton family!” Felicia sounded anxious on the
other side of the phone.
Chapter 1240
“Huh? What do you mean by a wedding invitation?” Lyna was curious. After all, that could only mean
that Fabian was getting married.
“It’s a wedding invitation to Hannah and Fabian’s wedding!” explained Felicia.
“What?” Lyna was so astounded that her vision went black for one second. Fabian and Hannah are
getting married? What about me, then?
“Come back here!” she howled at the man who was leaving the room.
The man froze instantly. Even if you’re mad from the phone call, don’t vent out your anger on me!
“Lynnie, listen. Let’s forget about this. Fabian is married, so stop dreaming about marrying him. You
should get another man,” Felicia tried to comfort her daughter as she knew how rash her daughter was.
“Mom, stop it. I know what to do!” Lyna cut the line and flung her phone out in fury.
“Well, well. Hannah Young, you’re swift, huh? I can’t believe you’ve managed to persuade Fabian to
marry you this soon! I won’t give up! Never!” Lyna muttered to herself angrily.
The man who was working for her immediately snorted. They are married, so exposing their
cohabitation is useless now.
“You! Come here!” Lyna commanded sternly.
The man knew she was mad, so he scuttled over obediently lest he offended her.
At the same time, there were plenty of women who blew their top upon finding out Fabian was about to
marry Hannah tomorrow.
In an office, a man wearing shades received another phone call asking him to investigate Hannah
again.
He told his subordinate, “Print another copy of Hannah Young’s details and sent them to Ms. Cinder.”
His subordinate wondered out loud, “Who is this Hannah Young? Many socialites had been asking
about her recently.”
On the other hand, Yvette was meeting a bearded man. “I need your help,” she told him.
The man seemed nonchalant. “Ms. Tanner, you’re so gorgeous. I believe plenty of men would be
delighted to help you. Why would you come to me?”
“Will you help me or not!” Yvette demanded. As the man was eyeing her like a pervert, disgust crept up
her heart. I wouldn’t have asked for your help if others could do it!
“Sure, why not? There’s no reason for me to turn you away, Ms. Tanner,” replied the man with a grin.
“I believe you’ve heard about Fabian’s wedding.” Yvette didn’t beat around the bush.
“Of course.” Fabian was an influential man, so he sent out invitations to every big shot in the city—
including those in the underworld. Hence, the news of his wedding had spread quickly.
But of course, this man wasn’t invited for he was a nobody who worked under someone else.
“Yes. I don’t wish to see the bride at the venue tomorrow,” Yvette declared.
“Mm? What do you mean? Do you want to…” the man mimicked slitting his throat.
Instead of replying to him, Yvette gave him a firm nod. Obviously, she had decided to kill Hannah.
Shocked, the man staggered backward and fell into his chair. He swallowed silently.
“Uh, I don’t think I can do this. You know how capable Fabian is. If he gets upset…” he trailed off and
met Yvette’s gaze.
