Ch. 521..530
Chapter 521
Chapter 521
Evelyn nearly lost it the moment she saw Vivian. She wished she could pounce on her and scratch the
face that she used to beguile Finnick.
Suppressing her agitation, Evelyn inwardly told herself, It’s not the time yet. I can’t fall out with Vivian
yet. After some time, I’ll definitely make her life as miserable as it was five years ago! I’ll make her pay
for the grievances I’ve suffered!
When she stopped her wheelchair in front of Vivian, she put on a guilty expression. “Vivian, I’ve been
waiting for you here for a long time. I have something to say to you today.” Then, she reached out to
grab Vivian’s hand.
Raising her hand, Vivian purposely made it clear that she wanted to avoid her touch. “Just say what
you want to say.”
Do you think I wanna touch you, b*tch? Feeling awkward, Evelyn silently cursed at Vivian deep down
while putting on a flummoxed expression, acting as if the latter was bullying her.
Coupled with her seemingly innocent face and pitiful wheelchair-bound condition, several people who
passed by the hotel lobby shot Vivian unpleasant glances that spoke of warning and disapproval.
Vivian mentally sneered. She’s indeed never changed. Like five years ago, she knows how to win the
sympathy of others, which is something I’ll never be better at than she is.
“Vivian, I know you’re mad at me. What happened five years ago is my fault. I apologize.” Evelyn
sounded sincere. “I’m sorry, Vivian. I’m so sorry. I was too ignorant five years ago. It’s my fault. Can
you forgive me?”
Vivian was confused that Evelyn was actually apologizing to her. She thought the latter was going to
warn her and tell her not to steal Finnick from her. After all, Evelyn was the kind of person who would
do so. But what is she up to now?
“Evelyn, just drop the pretense and get straight to the point,” Vivian said with a cold look on her face
without beating about the bush.
“Vivian, I know that you might not believe me for saying this, but I really know that I was wrong.” At this
point, Evelyn actually whipped up some tears.
“As you can see, I’m a cripple now, so God has already given me the punishment that I deserve. Can
you please forgive me?”
“Have you really learned your lesson?” Vivian gave her a suspicious look.
“Yeah.” Evelyn hurriedly nodded. “Vivian, I really know I was wrong back then. I’ve been wanting to
apologize to you face to face for five years, but I have no chance. Now that you’re finally back, I can
finally get it off my chest.”
Seeing the sincerity in Evelyn’s eyes, Vivian almost believed what she said. But having been set up by
Evelyn too many times before, she would not believe her so easily.
Staring at her, Vivian said nothing as she wanted to see what exactly she wanted to say.
Evelyn went up to her again and grabbed her hand, weeping while saying, “Vivian, after my legs are
maimed, I’ve been reflecting on what I’ve done previously. The more I think about it, the more I regret it.
You really thought of me as a friend back then. I shouldn’t have done things like that to you. Perhaps
God made me a cripple because he can’t stand my arrogance anymore. Vivian, I’ve really realized my
mistake. Can you give me a chance to compensate you? Now, when I think of the days when we were
friends, I realize that it’s really good to have you as my friend. I shouldn’t have abandoned friendship
because of a man. Vivian, I want to be friends with you again. Let’s go shopping and eat together like
we did before, okay? I promise I’ll treat you with sincerity this time. Will you give me a chance?”
After speaking, Evelyn looked at Vivian with tears in her eyes, as if a “no” from the latter would amount
to a wicked crime.
Chapter 522
Chapter 522
She wants to be friends with me again? Vivian snorted coldly in her head as she resisted the urge to
fling her hand away.
This was exactly what she did five years ago. She first made friends with Vivian and then set up one
trap after another, waiting for the latter to walk right into them. Vivian knew that she was pulling the
same trick again. Does she think I’m so stupid that I’ll be fooled again? Isn’t it just acting? Well, I can
act too.
“Do you really want to be friends with me again?” Vivian pretended to fall for it.
“Yes.” Giving a firm nod, Evelyn was secretly happy, but she still had on a guilty look. “Vivian, please
forgive me, alright? Time will prove that I’ve learned my lesson.”
“All right,” Vivian said, hesitant, “I forgive you.”
“Really?” There was a genuine look of astonishment in Evelyn’s eyes this time. “Vivian, are you really
willing to forgive me? Are you really still willing to treat me as your friend?”
Evelyn could not believe that she could actually talk Vivian into forgiving her so easily.
“Yes, I forgive you,” Vivian said with a smile, “As you said, your legs are already maimed. I believe you
have learned your lesson from it, and you won’t do those things again.”
“Thank you, Vivian,” Evelyn replied gratefully, “Thank you for forgiving me.”
“It’s okay.” Vivian patted her on the hand and comforted her, “Now that you need to travel in a
wheelchair, you must take good care of yourself. Don’t be so apologetic from now on. Let’s just assume
those things had never happened before, okay?”
“Okay. Those things are already behind us. We won’t mention them again.” Evelyn happily agreed.
Looking at the watch on her wrist, Vivian pretended to be in a rush. “I have something to attend to later,
so I may not be able to accompany you. Be careful when you head home.”
“It’s okay. Take care of your stuff first. I’m fine on my own,” Evelyn urged Vivian to leave, looking like
they were best friends.
“Okay then. I’ll see you again.” Vivian pretended to be apologetic while glancing at Evelyn before she
left.
In fact, she could not continue to play along anymore as she was not as good at it as Evelyn, and that
was already her limit.
Seeing that Vivian was walking further, Evelyn finally assumed her true self. With a look full of
contempt, she mocked in a low voice, “Vivian, it seems that you’re still as foolish as you were. You
actually believed me so easily. This time, I’ll make you regret your decision to come back.”
After leaving the hotel, Vivian saw Benedict waiting for her in his car not far away. Vivian trotted over,
feeling sorry for making him wait for so long.
As soon as she opened the door and got into the car, she saw Benedict looking at her with a worried
expression on his face.
“What’s wrong, Ben?” Vivian asked, “Did something happen to the company?”
“No, the company’s fine. Don’t worry. I think I saw you talking to Evelyn. Are you okay?” Benedict was
the person who knew Evelyn best, so he was worried that Vivian would be hurt by her.
Vivian’s heart filled with warmth after knowing that Benedict was worried about her. I think only my
brother will be truly concerned about me in this world. Oh, and my little pumpkin too.
The thought of her son filled her heart with happiness.
“Don’t worry, Ben. I’m no longer the same foolish woman that I was back then. I won’t fall into Evelyn’s
trap again. I’ll protect myself,” Vivian assured Benedict with a serious look on her face that she would
be careful as she did not want him to be worried about her other than being swamped with work at the
company.
“Just be careful.” It was impossible for Benedict to not be worried as he knew full well that Vivian was
no match for Evelyn when it came to framing others. But he was slightly relieved to know that Vivian
was keeping her guard up.
Chapter 523
Chapter 523
“I got it, Ben. Let’s go home quickly. I miss my little pumpkin already.” Speaking of her son, Vivian was
all smiles. It was clear from the look in her eyes that she could not wait to see him.
Although she hadn’t seen him for merely several hours, she missed him a lot.
Hearing that, the gloom on Benedict’s face vanished as well, and he no longer felt worried as he could
not wait to hear Larry call him “Uncle Benedict”.
Soon, they reached home.
“You’re back, Mommy, Uncle Benedict!” As soon as they reached home, Larry threw himself into
Benedict’s arms. Looking at his flushed cheeks, Benedict couldn’t help but plant a kiss on them.
“Little pumpkin, do you only like Uncle Benedict and not Mommy?” Vivian asked, pretending to be sad.
As a matter of fact, she was happy to see that Larry was close with Benedict. As Larry grew up without
a father, Benedict had played the role of father and taught him a lot of things in life.
But she enjoyed teasing her son.
“No. I like Mommy too.” Then, Larry spread his arms and wanted her to carry him. After getting into
Vivian’s arms, he wrapped his arms around her neck and gave her a kiss.
In actual fact, however, he was thinking, Mommy is so childish and actually gets jealous of Uncle
Benedict despite being a grown-up. Alas, I feel sorry for myself that I have to learn not to neglect either
of them despite being so young.
If Vivian could hear his thought, she would have been proud that he could express his feelings in his
mother tongue so fluently with the use of precise words even though he grew up in A Nation.
Benedict watched their interaction with a smile tugging at his eyes. The scene before him was the
warm stuff of life to him over the past five years and was also what he had vowed to do his best to
protect.
“Vivian, I need to deal with something, so I’m going to the study. I’ll talk to you later.” After informing
Vivian, Benedict went to the study upstairs, leaving Vivian and Larry in the living room.
“Have you been a good boy today, my little pumpkin? Tell me what you’ve done, okay?” Vivian could
not help but pinch his cheeks. How could I have given birth to such a cute son?
Secretly pouting, Larry told her what he had done during the day in detail. He knew that she was
concerned about him, so he could not let her worry.
After listening to his account of his day, Vivian stroked his head affectionately. “What a good boy.”
“Mommy, c-can I ask you a question?” asked Larry while giving her a cautious look, void of the usual
playfulness.
“What’s it? Why are you so secretive?” Vivian found his expression amusing as she tidied up his outfits.
“Go ahead and ask. I’ll surely answer you as long as it’s something I know.”
“Really?” Larry got excited. “So, can you tell me where my daddy is, Mommy?”
Hearing his question, Vivian froze and recalled the moment when she met Finnick earlier today.
“Mommy, Mommy?” Larry waved his hand in front of her eyes after seeing that she was not moving.
“Why do you suddenly ask me this question?” Vivian, who came back to her senses, asked while she
continued to tidy up his outfit, but she no longer looked as relaxed as earlier.
“Mommy, just tell me. You said it yourself that you’ll answer me as long as it’s something you know,”
Larry urged.
“I told you before that your father died before you were born, so don’t ask this question anymore,”
Vivian told Larry with a rare stern expression on her face.
Seeing her face, Larry knew that pressing her for an answer would only make her unhappy. “Okay,
Mommy. I won’t ask about this again. Don’t get mad.”
Chapter 524
Chapter 524
“Okay, my little pumpkin.” Vivian held him in her arms, regretting being angry at him. It’s my fault for not
giving him a complete family, so I don’t have the right to be mad at him.
Vivian felt a lump in her throat, but she did not want to cry in front of her son, so she held back the
tears and said with a smile, “I’ll go make you dinner now, so you’ll play by yourself here, okay?”
“Okay.”
At that, Vivian felt better as she stroked his head and turned for the kitchen.
Seeing her leave, Larry blinked, and a smug smile appeared on his face. Then, he took the bag that
Vivian had put on the table and fished out her phone.
Launching the web browser, he did a search by entering “Finnick Norton” into the search bar. Mommy,
do you really think I don’t know who my daddy is? Since you don’t want to tell me, I have no choice but
to check it myself.
Vivian and Benedict were busy the next day, so Larry was taken care of by the nanny, Ms. Booker.
Upon seeing that Vivian and Benedict had left the house, Larry began to pester Ms. Booker to take him
out to play. As Larry insisted, Ms. Booker had no choice but to take him to the fried chicken restaurant
that he wanted to go to.
Larry had already found out that he could go to where Finnick was by walking two blocks from the
restaurant and taking a left turn. I wonder if I can see him today?
Thinking of that, Larry was secretly excited.
After reaching the restaurant, he quickly ran out of the restaurant while Ms. Booker was ordering food
at the counter. Then, he ran to his destination.
Standing before a building, he reckoned that he had reached as the building and the words on its
signboard—which read “Finnor Group”—looked the same as what he saw in the picture.
Taking a deep breath, he walked into the building while feeling a little nervous deep down.
Meanwhile, Finnick was going through the documents at his desk when a knock came at the door.
“Come in.” His voice was void of emotions, but it still made the new secretary, who had just knocked on
the door, blush.
Trying to remain calm, the secretary assumed a professional attitude as she reported, “Mr. Norton,
someone from Norton Corporation called and wanted you to attend a board meeting now.”
“Okay. Tell Noah to get the car ready.”
“Yes, Mr. Norton.”
After leaving the office, the secretary patted herself on her flushed cheeks. Even though I’ve been here
for two weeks, I still can’t resist the charm of the president. He’s so perfect! What if I… No, no, no!
The secretary immediately dismissed her thoughts. She heard that the previous two secretaries were
fired by the president’s girlfriend because they thought about things they shouldn’t. Therefore, she
thought that she should focus on keeping her job instead of thinking too much.
With that thought in mind, she hurriedly informed Noah to get ready.
As soon as Finnick walked downstairs to the company entrance, he was stopped by someone.
“Are you Finnick Norton?” Looking at the cute child with an adorable voice blocking his path, Finnick
somehow felt his heart melt.
“Yes, I am.” Finnick squatted down to be at eye level with the boy. “What’s the matter? Can I help you?”
For some reason, he felt an inexplicable sense of closeness to the little boy in front of him. He found
the latter familiar, as though he had met him somewhere.
Hearing his question, Larry racked his brain for an answer. Got it!
“I’m lost, and now I can’t find my mommy. I saw you on TV, so I know that your name is Finnick Norton.
Can you help me find my mommy?” Larry deliberately made himself sound pitiful. In order to make it
more believable, he even tried hard to whip up some tears.
Seeing the boy’s pitiful and tearful look, Finnick found himself feeling distressed.
Chapter 525
Chapter 525
“Sure. Can you tell me what your mother’s name is? Where did you get separated from her?”
“My mommy’s name is…” Larry did a quick mental search of a girl’s name. “My mommy’s name is Alice
Morrison. We got separated nearby. When I went to see the fish, she’s gone.”
Hearing the child’s vague description, Finnick could not think of a way to help him find his mother. “How
about this? I’ll get someone to look for your mommy while you’ll follow me to a meeting. When we
return, I’ll send you to your mommy. Is that okay?”
“Okay!” Larry nodded repeatedly, happy that he could spend some time alone with his father.
Holding the boy’s hand, Finnick walked out of the company.
Noah, who had been waiting outside, was puzzled when he saw Finnick come over with a child. “Mr.
Norton, who’s this child?”
“He’s lost and can’t find his mother,” Finnick briefly explained to Noah. “He said that his mother’s name
is Alice Morrison. They got separated nearby. You’ll help him look for his mother. I’ll drive to Norton
Corporation by myself.”
“Okay.” Noah nodded in realization as he was determined to help the cute boy find his mother. “Mr.
Norton, do you want to let him follow me?”
Finnick looked at Larry, who then shook his head slightly, saying, “I only know you. I wanna go with
you. I’m afraid he’s a bad guy.”
Larry pretended to be afraid. This is ridiculous! I’ve finally found my Daddy and only spent such a short
time with him. Of course, I won’t go with others.
At his reply, Noah was speechless, whereas Finnick shook his head in amusement. “Okay then, you’ll
come with me. I’ll take you to your mommy later.”
After telling Noah to look for her, Finnick got into the car with the boy and drove to Norton Corporation.
“Dad—Mr. Norton, you still don’t know my name, do you?” Larry broke out in a cold sweat when he
nearly called Finnick by mistake. He secretly breathed a sigh of relief after seeing no response from
Finnick.
Finnick really did not notice that Larry made a slip of the tongue as he was focused on driving. As there
was now a child in the car, he drove even more carefully.
“No, I don’t.” Without looking at Larry, he paid attention to the road as he asked, “What’s your name?”
“My name is Larry Morrison, and my nickname is little pumpkin,” Larry replied with zest, “You must
remember my name, and don’t ever forget it.”
“Got it.” Hearing his words, Finnick found it amusing. But Larry Morrison is quite a special name. I
wonder why his parents give him this name. What a coincidence that both his parents have the same
surname.
“So I’ll call you little pumpkin from now on, okay?”
“Yay! Sure!” Larry clapped his hands in excitement. “I like it when you call me little pumpkin!”
Seeing the adorable smile on Larry’s face, Finnick felt his heart melted for the first time.
As they chatted all the way, they soon arrived at Norton Corporation.
After the time they spent in the car, Finnick found himself growing fond of Larry. He could not help but
find his nickname fitting for his adorable personality. Besides, he was smart and likable. Finnick was
even reluctant to return this boy to his mother.
Surprised by the thought he had, Finnick found it funny. That would make me a human trafficker,
wouldn’t it?
“Alright, little pumpkin. We’re here. Let’s get off the car.” After parking the car, Finnick carried Larry out
of the car while the latter wrapped his arms around his neck.
Initially, Finnick wanted to put him down and walked hand in hand with him. Yet, after feeling the weight
of Larry’s head on his shoulder and his arms around his neck, he was suddenly reluctant to put him
down, so he walked into Norton Corporation with Larry in his arms.
Chapter 526
Chapter 526
Meanwhile, there were tears in Larry’s eyes. My daddy is holding me. Not Uncle Benedict. It’s my
daddy.
Larry blinked back his tears as he did not want to cry in front of his own father.
While walking to his office with Larry in his arms, Finnick teased the boy from time to time, causing him
to laugh while also leaving others stunned.
Seeing Finnick go into the elevator with a kid, the employees downstairs started gossiping among
themselves.
“I’m not seeing things, am I? Is the man, who was holding a kid, Mr. Norton? That poker-faced man?”
“Whose kid is that? Could it be Mr. Norton’s?”
“What nonsense are you spouting? It’s possible if Mr. Norton hasn’t divorced. But he has, so how can
he have a kid that old? Unless…”
“Are you saying that this kid is his illegitimate son?”
“I think so. Otherwise, why would Mr. Norton, who has always been known for his indifference, be so
kind to a strange kid? It’s the first time I saw him smile!”
“That’s true.”
As Finnick was now at his office with Larry, he did not know what those employees were talking about.
“Little pumpkin, can you wait for me here? I’m having a meeting. If you need anything, just go to the
lady—my secretary—whom I’ve just shown you,” Finnick reminded Larry as he was a little worried to
leave him alone in his office.
He also didn’t expect that he would have so much concern for a kid whom he had just known.
“Okay, I got it. Don’t you worry, Mr. Norton. I’ll be good,” promised Larry as he squared his shoulders.
Looking at the serious expression on Larry’s cute face, Finnick could not help but chuckle. “Alright, then
I’ll go for my meeting. Be good.”
After speaking, Finnick pinched Larry’s face, then stood up and walked out of the office. He reminded
the secretary outside his office again before he headed to the meeting room.
As there was now only Larry in the office, he walked away and explored the office. Is this where Daddy
works? It’s so huge and grand! He must be very capable, seeing that he has such a huge office.
That thought made Larry proud as he had such a capable man as his father. However, sadness crept
up on him.
Why doesn’t Daddy want me and Mommy? Why does Mommy say that Daddy is dead? Did they have
a fight? But it’s okay!
Larry clenched his fists to cheer himself up as he made up his mind to find a way to get his parents
back together. Then, he would be able to have a mother and a father like other kids did.
While he was thinking of a way to reconcile his parents, he saw an elderly man walk into the office. It
was none other than Samuel Norton.
He was here to discuss something with Finnick, only to see an adorable kid inside his office.
He was stunned for a moment, then he began to imagine Finnick’s relationship with this kid. Could he
be a son Finnick had behind my back? But it’s impossible that I’m in the dark about it.
“Hi, Sir.”
The soft voice snapped Samuel out of his thoughts. He began to scrutinize the kid and asked, “Who
are you? Why are you here?”
“My name’s little pumpkin. Mr. Norton brought me here,” Larry replied obediently as Vivian taught him
to be polite toward the elderly.
“I got separated from my mommy, so Mr. Norton promised to help me find her and brought me here.”
So that’s what happened. I’ve overthought things. Samuel nodded in realization. But this kid seems to
be very polite and well-mannered. His parents must have taught him well.
“Little pumpkin is such a nice name. How old are you?” This was probably the first time Samuel was so
patient toward a kid.
Chapter 527
Chapter 527
“I’m five years old, Sir.”
Larry stood upright in front of Samuel while keeping his eyes on the latter. Like other children, he
exuded innocence, but at the same time, he also had an air of maturity that was beyond his years.
Samuel had an even better impression of this child. Moreover, he found the child familiar as he looked
similar to Finnick when he was a kid.
Out of so many people, Finnick is the one who runs into this lost kid. It seems that fate has brought
them together.
Smiling, Samuel beckoned to Larry. “Come over here, little pumpkin. Let’s play.”
This man doesn’t seem like a bad guy. Besides, he knows Daddy, so he may be Daddy’s relative,
which means he could be my relative too. With this thought in mind, Larry walked over to Samuel.
Looking at Larry up close, Samuel became even more fond of him, so he carried him to sit on his lap
and chatted away on the sofa.
Larry’s lively personality made Samuel laugh. Afterward, the latter found himself become increasingly
reluctant to let the kid leave.
When Finnick returned to the office after the meeting, he was surprised to see that Samuel was smiling
happily with Larry on his lap.
For as long as he could remember, his grandfather had been a stern man who was notoriously cold-
hearted, especially toward people he didn’t know. Although he was raised by Samuel, he barely saw
the latter smile.
Unexpectedly, Grandpa actually laughs heartily with a child whom he has just known. It seems that this
little pumpkin is indeed very likable.
“Grandpa.” Finnick entered the office with a smile. “Why are you here?”
“You’re back.” Samuel sounded like he was in a good mood. “I’m here to discuss something with you.
Whose child is this? He’s so adorable!”
Then, he looked at Larry and ruffled his hair with adoration.
Sitting on the sofa across from them, Finnick had on a smile.
“Little pumpkin got separated from his mom, but I’ve already asked Noah to look for his mom. I think
he’ll find her soon.”
“Okay.” Nodding, Samuel looked at Larry and comforted, “Don’t be scared little pumpkin. He and I will
definitely find your mom.”
“Okay. Thank you, Sir,” Larry replied in a sweet voice. I was right. This man is indeed Daddy’s relative.
Since Daddy calls him Grandpa, he’s my great-grandpa then. It’s great that I not only found my daddy
but my great-grandpa as well, and it seems that they all like me a lot too.
Larry leaned closer into Samuel’s arms.
Seeing that, Samuel was even more delighted as he continued to tease and play with Larry.
Watching their heartwarming interaction, Finnick could not help but feel melancholic. If Vivian and I
hadn’t divorced five years ago, our kid should have been this old. I wonder if he will be as adorable as
little pumpkin.
Meanwhile, Vivian was attending a daily meeting of Morrison Group with Benedict, who wanted her to
take over part of the company affairs as soon as possible.
While listening to the report of every head of the department, Vivian noticed that her phone lit up. It was
a call from Ms. Booker.
Feeling worried that something had happened to Larry, she took her phone and motioned to Benedict
before she quietly left the meeting room.
“Ms. Morrison, something happened!” Ms. Booker cried into the phone as soon as her call was picked
up.
“What’s wrong?” Vivian’s heart skipped a beat as she asked anxiously, “Did something happen to little
pumpkin?”
“Mr. Larry insisted on going out to eat fried chicken today. He went missing after I returned from
ordering at the counter. I’ve looked everywhere, but I couldn’t find him.” Ms. Booker was still clear-
headed, so she briefly explained the whole incident to Vivian. “What should we do now, Ms. Morrison?
Should we call the police?”
Chapter 528
Chapter 528
After hearing Ms. Booker’s words, Vivian was instantly struck dumb and could not hear anything else
as the news of Larry’s disappearance filled her mind.
“Why would he go missing?” Vivian’s voice was thick with tears. “Where are you now? I’ll go over right
away!”
After knowing the location, she hurriedly hung up to get going. Before she walked further, Benedict,
who came out from the meeting room, stopped her.
“What’s wrong, Vivian?” When he heard Vivian’s cry in the meeting room, he immediately came out,
only to see her leave the company with a tear-streaked face.
“Ben!” Finally seeing her rock, Vivian went up to him and tugged at his arm. “Little pumpkin went
missing near Liberty Avenue, and Ms. Booker said she couldn’t find him. What should we do now?”
At that, Benedict got flustered, but he forced himself to calm down when he saw how helpless Vivian
was.
“Vivian, calm down. Maybe little pumpkin is just too playful and wandered away. I’ll send people to look
for him now. Don’t panic. Otherwise, it’ll be even harder to find him.”
After comforting Vivian, Benedict made a few calls on his phone and asked all the investigators he
knew to find out about Larry’s whereabouts.
After he was done, he and Vivian went to the place where Larry went missing and looked for him
around the place.
Forcing herself to calm down, Vivian kept asking the passers-by by describing how Larry looked, but
none of them saw him.
“Little pumpkin! Little pumpkin!” Vivian cried out Larry’s name anxiously as tears streamed down her
face. Larry was everything to her. She could not let anything happen to him. Otherwise, she could not
live without him.
Just as she was nearly going crazy because she could not find Larry, she received a call from
Benedict.
“Vivian, I’ve found little pumpkin.”
At this, Vivian was overjoyed. “Where’s he now?”
“He’s now at Norton Corporation with Finnick.” Benedict was also stunned when he first heard the
news.
“What?” Vivian’s heart was once again back in her mouth. “Did Finnick take him away? What does he
want to do?”
Vivian panicked. Did Finnick already know that little pumpkin is his son? Is that why he wants to steal
him away from me?
“Don’t worry, Vivian. It seems that little pumpkin bumped into Finnick after he wandered away, then
Finnick brought him to Norton Corporation. Noah is now looking for his mother too, so I think Finnick
doesn’t know Larry’s identity yet,” Benedict told her what he had found.
“So h-how should I go and pick up little pumpkin?” After knowing that Larry was fine, Vivian finally
breathed a sigh of relief, but she found herself in another tight spot. If I pick up little pumpkin myself,
Finnick will definitely become suspicious since he’s so smart.
“I’ve asked people from Morrison residence to pretend to be little pumpkin’s parents to pick him up from
Norton Corporation. Don’t worry. He’ll be back soon.”
“Okay.” Vivian nodded repeatedly, relieved that Benedict had got it all planned.
At the same time, she was very worried as well. After all, Larry was a child, so she was scared that
Finnick would find out anything if Larry revealed too much.
Finnick, who was looking at Samuel’s interaction with Larry with a smile, suddenly received a call from
Noah.
“Mr. Norton, the kid’s parents have been found, and now I’m taking them to Norton Corporation.”
“Okay. I’ll be waiting in my office.”
After hanging up the phone, Finnick smiled and said to Larry, who was frolicking in Samuel’s arms,
“Little pumpkin, we’ve found your mommy and daddy. You’ll meet them soon.”
Daddy? Larry was puzzled. Isn’t my daddy here?
However, he did not voice his doubt. Instead, he pretended to be overjoyed. “Really? Thank you, Mr.
Norton.”
“You’re welcome.” Finnick touched Larry’s head. The thought of him leaving soon made him feel a little
sad as he wondered if he could still see the boy.
Chapter 529
Chapter 529
After about ten minutes, Noah brought the so-called parents of Larry to Finnick’s office.
After seeing the two people following Noah, Larry recognized them as they were the maids of the
Morrison residence. Being smart as he was, he instantly knew that they must have been sent by his
mother and uncle to pick him up.
Although he was a little disappointed at the fact that he was going to leave Finnick, he knew that his
disappearance must have given Vivian a scare, so he played along and ran toward the maids.
After the maids thanked Finnick profusely, they left with Larry.
Samuel was reluctant to see Larry leave and could not help but comment, “This kid looks a little like
you when you were young.”
“Really?” Finnick did not think so.
“Of course. I watched you grow up. Would I even get this wrong?” Samuel got annoyed at the fact that
Finnick questioned his judgment.
Shaking his head in amusement, Finnick immediately changed the subject. “Why did you come to see
me today, Grandpa?”
Hearing his question, Samuel gave him a serious look and asked, “I heard that Vivian is back. Have
you seen her?”
“Yeah.” After a moment of deliberation, Finnick nodded at him.
“She hasn’t remarried, right?” Samuel asked the thing he cared about the most.
Finnick’s face fell as he recalled what happened that day. “I don’t think so.”
Samuel’s question made him think. What should I do if Vivian has remarried?
“That’s good then. Let me tell you, I’m really pleased with having her as my granddaughter-in-law. I
don’t care why the two of you divorced five years ago, but you must find a way to marry her now that
she’s back!”
“I definitely will, Grandpa,” Finnick promised while shooting Samuel a serious look. This was also an
oath he took in his heart.
Vivian, you’ll never be able to escape from me in your lifetime!
Upon reaching the Morrison residence, Larry was greeted by a tight embrace from Vivian, who had
been waiting eagerly for him.
“Where did you go? Do you know that you’ve scared me?” Vivian questioned while crying.
“I’m sorry, Mommy,” Larry whispered his apology into her ear after seeing how sad she was.
“Now that you know you’re wrong, tell me, why did you wander off? What if something happened to
you?” Vivian berated him as her worry turned into anger. How can this kid do something like this?
Faced with her anger, Larry looked at Benedict in hopes that he could speak up for him, but the latter
said nothing.
Although he doted on Larry, he did not want to spoil him. As Larry had indeed made a mistake this
time, he wanted him to acknowledge his mistake and correct it.
Seeing that Benedict was not going to help him, Larry gave Vivian an aggrieved look. “Mommy, I didn’t
wander off. I went to find Daddy.”
“What Daddy?” A look of panic flashed across Vivian’s face. “Didn’t I tell you that your daddy had
already passed away?”
“That’s because you lied to me!” Larry got mad. “I already know that Finnick Norton is my daddy. He’s
not dead!”
“Who told you this?” To Vivian’s dismay, Larry actually found out about his relationship with Finnick.
“No one told me. I guessed it myself.” Larry looked at Vivian pleadingly. “Mommy, why did you and
Daddy split up? Can you get back together? I want my Daddy.”
Hearing Larry’s words, Vivian felt her heart being gripped by a deep sense of sorrow.
This was the first time Larry made such a request to her in so many years, but she couldn’t agree to it.
There was no going back between her and Finnick.

Chapter 530
“Little pumpkin, I’m sorry. This is all my fault,” Vivian sobbed out as she held onto Larry. She thought
she had given Larry all her love, but she still could not compensate him for what he lacked in paternal
love.
“Little pumpkin, this is all my fault. I-I didn’t give you a complete family. Can you forgive me for this?”
Vivian wept.
“Okay. I won’t ask you about it anymore. Don’t cry, Mom.” Larry was a sensible boy, and he knew not to
mention Finnick anymore. Instead, he raised his small hands and begun wiping Vivian’s tears away.
Larry’s actions only made Vivian feel even more guilty. All she could do was hold him in her arms as
she continuously apologized to him.
Beside them, Benedict sighed. He then crouched down and hugged them, a form of silent solace.
It had been a few days after Larry had gone to look for Finnick, but Vivian was still stuck in the same
intense emotions of that moment.
She kept asking herself—Is it right to hide Finnick’s matter from Larry? She could see that Larry had
been feeling down after that day; he was no longer as happy and bubbly as he usually was.
Since Larry already knows that Finnick’s his father, should I talk to him about it? After all, I don’t have
the right to take away his opportunity to meet with his father.
However, Vivian was terrified. With Finnick’s ruthlessness and power, Vivian was afraid that he would
take Larry away from her.
No! I can’t lose my little pumpkin! I’ll never let Evelyn be Larry’s stepmother! But… my little pumpkin
needs a father too.
Right as Vivian was stumped by the issue, she received a call from Evelyn.
“Hello, Vivian. I’d like to invite you to watch an opera today. Will you be ?”
Instinctively, Vivian opened her mouth to reject her. After all, she was not in the mood to watch operas
right now, not to mention with Evelyn. However, she was afraid that Evelyn was up to something.
“All right. I’m today.”
Hearing Vivian’s apathetic voice, Evelyn tightened her grip on her phone as she scrunched her face up
in fury. Yet, her voice was still sweet as she said, “All right. We’ll meet at the café from five years ago,
then. Will you be okay with two in the afternoon?”
“Yes.” With that said, Vivian ended the call as a sneer grew on her face.
The café from five years ago. What a place Evelyn has chosen. I wonder what she’s trying to do this
time. Regardless, I won’t let her get her way!
Raising her arm to check the time, she realized it was only eleven in the morning. Vivian’s original plan
was to stay at home until one, but she abruptly made up her mind and left the house with her bag.
Instead of heading toward the café where she would be meeting Evelyn later, she headed to a well-
known beauty salon in the city.
In the past, she would have never dressed herself up before meeting Evelyn, but now… Vivian would
not continue to let Evelyn gain the upper hand.
In frustration, Evelyn grabbed her phone to look at the time. When the screen dimmed, her scowl
reflected on it. It’s been ten minutes since the time we agreed to meet up, but I don’t even see a sign of
Vivian around. Is she messing with me?
At the thought of that, hatred filled Evelyn’s eyes. So she’s bossy now that she’s the daughter of the
Morrison family? Ha! I’m going to make sure that her reputation is ruined beyond salvation this time!
Those who go against me will be doomed to a terrible ending.
The fury was burning hot in her chest, and Evelyn had nowhere to vent it but at the server. “Mister, the
coffee’s gone cold. Don’t you know to change it into something hot?”
“Of course. Please give me a moment.” The server then hastily took away the cup of coffee in front of
the angry Evelyn. He was disappointed, as he did not expect a pretty customer like her would have
such a nasty temper.
Soon, the server returned with a fresh cup of coffee, but Evelyn did not even give him her thanks.
Instead, she waved at him dismissively, as if she was trying to get rid of an annoying housefly.
