Ch. 771..780
Chapter 771
Chapter 771
Vivian had not dared to enter the room then. Although she did not see it for herself, she was convinced
that Finnick was cheating on her.
If what Noah said was right, it could explain everything.
“Yes.”
He continued, “She threatened Mrs. Filder and had kidnapped my parents. I had to do as she said.”
As he recalled what he had done, Noah felt terrible. Both Finnick and Vivian had always treated him so
kindly.
“She eventually ordered me to tell you that Mr. Norton wanted you to abort the child. I had no choice.”
“The first attempt wasn’t successful. The second time, Mr. Morrison saved you. When Mr. Norton was
about to go to the airport to stop you from leaving, Evelyn pretended to fall and break her leg, hindering
him.”
As Noah recounted the past events, his voice became increasingly constrained. However, he did not
understand what exactly he was afraid of.
For the past five years, his actions had haunted him daily, reminding himself of how he had betrayed
Mr. Norton.
His conscience constantly nagged at him and he suffered from insomnia every night.
He could finally come clean about everything today. Although he eventually had to face Finnick’s
punishment, Noah felt unusually relaxed as a huge burden of guilt had been lifted off him.
It was unprecedented.
“That was exactly what happened back then. Please punish me for my mistakes.” Noah then bowed in
apology.
Since he had betrayed Finnick, it was unlikely that Noah could continue working for him.
“This kick is because you kept things from me.”
“This kick is for you being ungrateful.”
“This kick is for betraying your own morality.”
Noah fell to the ground, enduring his punishment in silence.
However, he did not have any hatred for Finnick. Instead, he thought that he deserved those three
kicks.
At the very least, he now felt less guilty.
“Vivian, did you hear that? I was kept in the dark the whole time.”
When Finnick was done with Noah, he walked over to Vivian.
Vivian froze. It was Evelyn who had orchestrated the entire scene back then, causing her year of
suffering and heartache. Finnick had been unaware of anything the whole time.
Vivian was full of shock and remorse.
She was shocked that she did not know the full story this whole time and blamed Finnick wrongly for
everything.
Thinking back, he had indeed lost a lot of weight compared to before. Vivian could not help but feel
sorry for him.
Now, they finally knew the truth behind everything that had happened back then.
Evelyn’s scheme and wickedness was certainly impressive. How did that rich, pampered little princess
come to have such a cruel heart?
However, it was perhaps human nature when we were cornered and fighting to protect our self-interest.
It would drive us to carry out the most unimaginable tasks and wicked plans.
Like how Evelyn could remain indifferent as she watched her biological mother struggling for her life in
front of her.
Or how she could easily kidnap someone else’s parents, completely ignoring the safety of others.
Now that Vivian realized Finnick had always loved her, she felt that everything she had gone through
was worthwhile.
She stared at Finnick but did not know what to say.
They had been separated for the past five years. They had a lot to say and many questions to ask.
Their eyes met and the pair could not help but feel awkward.
Finnick had no clue that the very things that had been kept from him were the cause of Vivian’s pain.
Finnick hated himself. If he had waited outside the Morrison residence when Vivian brought up the
divorce back then, he could have cleared things up with her then. They would not have to go through
so much suffering.
He was the cause of most of their difficulties. If only he had broken off all ties with Evelyn. If only he
had not listened to her or believed her words.
Chapter 772
Chapter 772
None of this would have ever happened, let alone the five-year separation.
Moreover, he had mistakenly thought that Vivian had been raped then and even wanted her to abort
their own child. Even though he had given in to her, Finnick had still felt very uneasy.
Thinking back on it now, the whole fiesta was just ridiculous. He had actually believed the word of
another woman and doubted his own wife.
As Finnick thought about the past, he wanted to slap himself as a punishment for being silly.
He knew he had been wrong. However, what was important now was the future.
He would never compromise on Vivian’s needs ever again, nor would he let her leave him.
Never again.
This was both his promise to Vivian and an encouragement for himself.
When he came to terms with everything, all Finnick wanted to do was to go home with Vivian. He’d
have to admit his wrongdoings and ask for forgiveness.
Since Vivian’s mood seemed to be fine, Finnick called out to her.
“Vivian?”
“What’s is it?”
Vivian was neither a hypocritical nor a petty person. As soon as she found out that it was all a
misunderstanding, she no longer blamed Finnick for anything.
She simply stared at him, wondering what he wanted to say.
“Vivian, let’s go home.” Finnick was unsure of what else to say. He just held her hand and waited for
her response.
“Okay.” The couple then walked hand in hand across the field, both feeling at ease while enjoying the
beautiful scenery.
When Finnick realized that Noah did not follow them, he turned and said, “Go back yourself.”
Without waiting for a reply, the couple then continued their way.
They strolled along the field with their hands joined together. The couple had finally reunited and had
many things to say to each other.
“Vivian, I’m sorry. I should have looked into the matter instead of simply trusting Evelyn’s words.”
Finnick still felt guilty that his failure to investigate back then had caused such a huge mistake.
Although Evelyn was the mastermind behind everything, Noah was still an accomplice. As Vivian’s
husband, how could I have fallen so easily into their trap?
This was a terrible oversight and also the main cause of their five-year separation.
“Actually… it’s not your fault alone. I also didn’t handle a lot of things properly.”
Vivian was all ready to forgive Finnick. As soon as she heard his words, she had forgiven him
completely.
Despite being unaware of everything that had happened, Finnick was still willing to apologize even
though he was essentially a victim too. Vivian felt gratified.
“Oh? Tell me about it.” Finnick could not hide his interest upon hearing that Vivian also wanted to
apologize.
“If I’d trusted you then, I wouldn’t have believed that you were in the room with… Then, Evelyn’s plans
would never have been successful.”
As she thought back on it, Vivian realized that it was Evelyn’s voice in the room that had caused her to
believe that Finnick was cheating on her.
If she had not misunderstood then, things would not have come so far.
“Well, women love to overthink. You’re a woman too, so it’s understandable.” Finnick chuckled as he
patted her on the head then took her hand again and continued walking.
“No, we have to confront Evelyn about this. Otherwise, I won’t feel at ease.” Vivian had always been
someone who remained civil unless provoked. Since Evelyn had offended her first, she would not
hesitate to retaliate now.
However, Evelyn was Finnick’s first love after all. Regardless of how he felt about her now, Vivian felt
that it was better to talk things out before Evelyn.
After all, one’s first love was always the most memorable.
Finnick understood Vivian’s intentions and laughed. “You’re not the only one that wants to confront her.”
Chapter 773
Chapter 773
“What are you confronting her for? That she had tarnished your reputation?” Vivian said jokingly when
she noticed that Finnick wasn’t defending Evelyn at all.
“This is unfair! I’m being bullied by my wife and I can’t even fight back?” Finnick could only play the
victim card as he was unable to toss Vivian onto the bed and punish her like he always did.
On one hand, it would put a smile on Vivian’s face, and on the other hand, it would help improve their
relationship by adding some variety.
However, the two of them went quiet after his mention of the word “wife” and they simply stared at each
other in silence.
How long has it been since I called her my wife? They say married couples don’t stay mad at each
other for long. We’ve been together for five years now, so we won’t leave each other again now that
we’ve made up, right? Well, I believe that’s what we both hope for…
Couples that reconcile with each other tend to be very lovey-dovey, and these two were no exception.
Seeing as the sun was about to set, the two of them held hands as they made their way home, refusing
to let go even while Finnick was driving.
“I won’t let go of you ever again,” Finnick said when Vivian reminded him to focus on the road. She
could only smile at him in response.
Larry ran over to them the moment they got home while Benedict chased after him telling him to slow
down.
“Have you two…” Benedict pointed at their interlocked hands in confusion.
Vivian nodded at him and explained what happened back then.
“As you can see, Finnick was a victim as well.” Vivian knew how worried Benedict was about her, so
she filled him in on what Noah told her earlier.
However, she made no mention of Noah helping Evelyn out, which surprised Noah who was listening
from the side.
“Yay! Mommy and Daddy are finally back together! I finally have a Daddy!” Larry didn’t really
understand what they were saying, but he could get the gist of the situation.
Mommy and Daddy are together now that they’ve cleared up their misunderstandings, and we can all
unite as a family at long last! I’ve always dreamed of having a complete family ever since I saw the
other kids playing and having fun with their dads. Luckily for me, no one dared to tease me about my
lack of a father due to my powerful family background, but none of that matters now that Daddy’s back!
On top of that, my daddy is hundreds, if not thousands of times better than those of the other kids!
“That’s right, I’m back!” Finnick said as he picked Larry up and hugged him tightly.
When was the last time I saw Vivian and Larry smiling so happily? I suppose I could let bygones be
bygones and forgive Finnick for what happened… To be fair, it was all a misunderstanding on my part,
and Finnick wasn’t in the wrong at all… Heck, I feel kind of bad for punching him yesterday… I don’t
regret it, though! I wasn’t aware of what truly happened back then at the time, and Finnick is partly to
blame for not investigating it thoroughly anyway! Oh, well… I guess we’ll call that punch a punishment
for his mistake, then! Benedict thought to himself when he saw how happy Vivian and Larry were.
“Vivian, why don’t you bring Larry inside while I chat with Finnick for a bit?”
Vivian figured it was better for them to talk things out and did as told.
“What’s Uncle Benedict going to do, Mommy?” Larry asked when he felt something was off. Uncle
Benedict had a really serious look on his face… Will he hurt Daddy?
“They’re just going to have a little chat, little pumpkin. Daddy will be with us in a bit,” Vivian said with a
chuckle. Man, kids sure grow up so fast! I sure as heck wasn’t this perceptive to these sort of things
when I was his age!
Chapter 774
Chapter 774
Ah, little pumpkin must have inherited Finnick’s genes! That’s a good thing. At least, he won’t be dumb
like me.
After Vivian had left, only Finnick and Benedict were in the living room, for Noah had already tactfully
retreated to the side.
“Finnick,” Benedict called out. Then, he lifted his head and looked at Finnick even as he contemplated
how he should begin.
“Let’s have a seat. There’s no hurry.” Finnick knew that Benedict had plenty to tell him, so he sat down
and waited for him to initiate the conversation.
“I’m at fault for all those things in the past. I misunderstood you, so I officially apologize to you now. I’m
sorry.”
Benedict felt that he had indeed given Finnick attitude too many times in the past. Many a time, I pull a
long face with him, yet he never took offense at me. However, my conscience dictates that I must
apologize. I didn’t know that he was kept in the dark back then, but now that I do, an apology is
imperative.
This was his principle, and it was this character of his that garnered Morrison Group a stellar
reputation.
“It’s okay, you didn’t know better. Besides, I was also partly responsible back then.” As Finnick listened
to Benedict, he knew that he had already tacitly agreed to Vivian getting back with him.
Since I’ve already gotten my wife back, I don’t care about everything else. Furthermore, if it weren’t for
him putting so many obstacles before me back then, I might not cherish Vivian as much as I do today.
Oftentimes, people only appreciated things that didn’t come easy.
Everyone knew the truth of that, and likewise, Finnick would also love Vivian more than ever before.
“Thank you for alleviating my guilt by saying that. But still, my stance remains the same. If you don’t
treat Vivian well, there won’t be a third chance for you.”
This time, Benedict had already given Finnick a chance, so if he were to trample on Vivian’s heart
again, he would protect her even if it meant sacrificing everything he had.
I’ve never taken care of her since young, so now that she’s by my side now, I’ll protect her forever.
“I’ve got it, Ben.”
Benedict was startled for a moment when Finnick called him “Ben”, but he then flashed him a smile in
tacit acquiescence.
“Go on in and look for them.”
Benedict knew that they must be wanting to cling to each other for some time since they had just gotten
back together, so he tactfully had Finnick going in alone without intruding on them.
“Daddy!” Larry had been playing Lego with Vivian, but the moment he spotted Finnick, he instantly
threw himself at him.
At that, Finnick ruffled his head with a bright smile. Then, he stared at Vivian.
“Why are you staring at me?” A touch embarrassed at his stare, Vivian glared at him in feigned anger.
“Because you’re beautiful,” Finnick blurted shamelessly, for he knew that she wasn’t truly peeved.
As expected, Vivian’s face flushed bright red at his compliment.
She then wanted to leave the room, but Finnick grabbed her. “You’re mine now, yet you’re thinking of
leaving? I’m afraid it’s not that easy.”
After saying this, he whirled around and pinned her against the wall in an extremely complicated move
while carrying Larry with an arm.
Meanwhile, Larry naturally knew that his parents were about to do something X-rated, so he instantly
covered his eyes with both hands so that he could turn a blind eye to it.
Upon seeing that, Finnick was abruptly gripped by the impulse to kiss Vivian though he initially hadn’t
planned to do so.
He slowly leaned forward as he gazed at the countenance that had been haunting him every moment
of every day.
Likewise, Vivian gazed at him. As she stared into his adoring eyes, she gradually lost herself in them…
Nevertheless, they stopped at just a kiss. Subsequently, Larry dropped his hands from his eyes.
“Mommy, Daddy, did you both kiss to beget me a sister?” Larry looked at them both cluelessly.
In his understanding, when two people shared a kiss, it was for the purpose of having a child.
But why a sister?
Finnick then blurted out this question, only to receive an unexpected answer from him.
“When I have a sister, I’ll play with her while you and Mommy play together. Then, our family will be
extremely harmonious without anyone being left out,” Larry declared exuberantly.
At this moment, he could already picture how it would be when the four of them play together after he
had gotten a sister.
Chapter 775
Chapter 775
“What if it’s a brother? Will someone be left out, then?” Vivian was initially a tad embarrassed, but she
forgot all about her embarrassment upon hearing Larry’s remark.
“Yup! Well, both my brother and I are boys, so we can’t get together.” Larry nodded in fervent
agreement as he spoke, looking exceedingly adorable.
“Haha…” Upon listening to his reasoning, both Vivian and Finnick burst out laughing.
Neither of them could quite figure out who he took after. It wasn’t quite Finnick, for he wasn’t as impish
as Larry when he was young despite his brilliance.
However, it was obviously not Vivian either because she was even more slow-witted than him when
she was young.
“Come home with me later, Vivian.” Finnick wanted to return to the home that belonged to them with
Vivian.
In those few years without her, the house had been cold and quiet when I went home every night.
He had dismissed the two housemaids, so he was alone in the house every night. Since it was only
him, he would merely cook something simple and scarf it down without really tasting it.
However, all that was nothing. Physical pain was far better than the mental anguish that had plagued
him.
Every night, as he slept in the bed they had once shared in the past, he missed her beyond words.
But that was meaningless, for he had no idea how he could win her back at that time and could only
bear it alone.
In time, this vicious circle made him abhor going back home. For that reason, he either spent the night
at the office or in the bar as he felt much better with some people around him.
Recalling the torturous days he had spent in the past few years, he thought, Ah, life will be perfect with
her at home!
Thus, he was eager to have Vivian return home and sleep with him.
“Hmm…” Vivian pondered for a moment, for she couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was
lacking although they had now gotten back together.
Nevertheless, she couldn’t figure out what it was even after racking her brains for a long time, so she
relented in the end.
“Okay.”
The moment she assented, a wave of joy flooded Finnick, and he immediately planted a kiss on her
cheek. Delight was written plainly on his face.
Knowing that he would get to stay the night with his father, Larry was ecstatic. He beamed from ear to
ear.
They both then stayed and played Lego with Larry in the room. In no time, night fell. They planned to
stay overnight here and pack their things tomorrow before going home.
That night, they all slumbered peacefully while hugging each other.
Larry was sandwiched between his parents. He tossed and turned happily, unwilling to sleep for a long
while.
Since I’m happy, I’ve got to have some fun! Otherwise, it’ll bug me and make me sad. After all, this is
my first time sleeping with Daddy ever since birth!
However, he didn’t give voice to that out of fear that he would ruin the joyous atmosphere now. Thus,
he could only celebrate in such a manner.
Having no other recourse, the two of them could only allow him to do as he pleased.
When Finnick opened his eyes the next morning, he was greeted by the sight of Larry sleeping beside
him. Casting his gaze further ahead, he then saw Vivian.
All at once, jubilation danced in his eyes. This is the first time we’ve spent the night together after
officially getting back together!
At that thought, he smiled and glanced at Vivian before gazing out at the sky outside. Now that I have
her, everything seems so beautiful!
Hence, the man, who usually got out of bed as soon as he opened his eyes, lay an extra hour on the
bed until Larry and Vivian woke up.
“Good morning, Honey,” Finnick greeted smilingly upon seeing Vivian open her eyes.
“Good morning.” At the sight of the delight brimming in his eyes, Vivian knew that he was luxuriating in
the time they had now.
“Good morning, Mommy. Good morning, Daddy,” Larry greeted as well while blinking open his drowsy
eyes.
“Good morning!”
Alas, good times were often short-lifted. They still wanted to laze around in bed for a while, but
Benedict’s holler then drifted in from outside.
“Since you’re awake, come down and have breakfast!” Benedict was actually going to wake them up,
only to hear their voices when he reached the door.
Thus, he stifled his feeling of awkwardness and called them down for breakfast. Then, he pivoted and
went downstairs to serve the food.
“Let’s get out of bed since Ben is awake. Otherwise, he’s going to come and holler again.” Vivian knew
that her brother believed that it was crucial to have breakfast and would never allow her to skip
breakfast for even a single day.
Chapter 776
Chapter 776
“Sure,” Finnick agreed readily. He didn’t have the habit of lazing in bed, and he only did so earlier
because Vivian was still in bed.
Since she was now awake, he promptly got out of bed and dressed.
As Vivian was a touch shy last night, she merely took off her coat but kept her clothes on before
sleeping. For that reason, it took her no time to get dressed.
She remembered that Finnick moved fast, so she turned around to see whether he was done dressing.
But never had she thought that he’d only be wearing a shirt at this moment. As her eyes continued
traveling down, a particular part of him was slightly erect and showed signs of springing right up.
Shock swamped her when she saw that.
Huh? Did he strip everything when he went to sleep last night? And why is he dressing so slowly? He’s
doing this deliberately, yes?
“What’s the matter? Do you miss it?” Finnick teased when he noticed that her gaze remained fixed on
that part of him.
Subsequently, Vivian followed his gaze, only to spot Larry, who was standing at the side. Then, she
realized the reason he was slower in getting dressed than usual.
It turned out that he had dressed Larry while she was still putting on her coat.
After realizing that, she was gripped by the urge to crawl into a hole. Argh! This is truly mortifying!
Alas, she had no choice but to face him.
“Alright, speed up.” As Finnick gazed at her face that was as red as an overly ripe tomato, he couldn’t
help chortling even harder.
“Okay.” Vivian touched her flaming face before hastening her movements.
Very quickly, she finished dressing and went into the bathroom to wash up. In the bathroom, she saw
her toothbrush with toothpaste laid out as usual, with Finnick having prepared everything for her.
In a flash, a burst of warmth flooded her. After brushing her teeth, she went downstairs. Just when she
had reached the landing, she caught sight of the three people, who were eating breakfast downstairs.
“Hurry up and come have breakfast, Vivian,” Benedict hastily prompted when he saw that she was still
looking around upstairs.
Breakfast should be eaten while it’s hot, but they were simply too slow in washing up that it’s now not
quite hot anymore!
“Okay.” Vivian descended the stairs and sat down beside Larry. The three of them sat on the same
side, across from Benedict.
“Are you moving back to Finnick’s place today, Vivian?” Benedict knew that she’d be moving back to
Finnick’s place, but he wasn’t certain when exactly she was planning to do so.
“Yes, that’s the plan, Ben.” Unexpectedly, Finnick’s voice drifted over just when she was about to
answer, and he had already answered on her behalf before she knew it.
“Alright. If so, start packing after breakfast, okay? I’m worried that there are too many things to pack.”
Benedict was certain that Finnick wouldn’t disappoint Vivian again this time, so he was very supportive
of them getting back together.
“Are you kicking us out, Ben?” Vivian couldn’t help asking when she heard how eager her brother was
in having her move out.
“Yup! After all, you only eat and drink at my house without doing anything. So, it’s better that you go
over to Finnick’s house and sponge off him instead,” Benedict quipped.
It’s indeed true that I didn’t do anything other than taking care of Larry, but that was because there
were housemaids back then. Yet, he’s now making it sound as though I’m a lazy pig who only eats and
does nothing!
Vivian shot daggers at him, hoping that he would apologize without a moment’s delay.
But before she had even heard Benedict’s voice, she heard Finnick’s instead.
“Don’t worry, Ben, I’ll take her away as soon as possible.” After saying that, he turned and looked at her
smugly as though he had saved the entire world.
At the sight of such an expression from him, Vivian unbiddenly felt that he had become increasingly
childish in the past few years they had been apart.
Even some of his actions and tone are very much childlike.
Nonetheless, she didn’t say that since she was afraid of his reaction if she were to do so.
“Yay! We’re going back to Daddy’s house!” Larry hurriedly chimed in when he heard them speaking of
returning to Finnick’s house later.
After all, he had been yearning to stay with Finnick for ages. Now, I even get to sleep at Daddy’s
house! That was something he didn’t even dare imagine in the past.
“Yup, we’re going back in a while.” Upon seeing that he was jumping for joy, Finnick stroked his head
with a smile. Then, he shifted his gaze to Vivian.
Chapter 777
Chapter 777
Finnick’s gaze seemed to be saying, Look, even Larry has agreed! Are you not coming home with me?
How much longer do you want to drag things out?
After looking at Finnick, Vivian’s stance relaxed.
“In that case, help us out later, Ben.” Benedict was her brother, yet he was now kicking her out in such
a hurry. Fine, I’ll grant him his wish. But my only condition is that he does the heavy lifting!
“Hey, you’re simply…” Benedict was torn between laughter and exasperation at her demand, but he
didn’t quite know how to describe it, so he simply trailed off.
“Hehe, only then will I be able to move out more quickly!” Vivian batted her eyelashes at him.
Then, she buried her head and ate away. She merely kept her head lowered as she enjoyed the food,
not interested in whatever else he had to say.
Meanwhile, when Benedict noticed her good mood, he realized how long it had been since she had last
been this happy in recent years. Perhaps Finnick is truly her perfect match. And it’s only when she has
gotten back with him will there be such a smile that was usually as rare as hen’s teeth on her face. This
is the kind of genuine smile that comes from deep within. In that case, as her brother, I should support
her.
At the thought of that, he lowered his head and ate his breakfast as well. Inwardly, he planned on
sending her back later.
At the side, a trace of chagrin welled up within Finnick as he watched Vivian’s interaction with her
brother.
She’s still keeping some distance between us, yet she’s being so natural with Benedict Morrison!
Unbeknownst to him, it was only after they had gotten back together that she was speaking to him in
such a manner.
In the past, that was something that had never happened.
When they had finished breakfast in record time, Benedict was then called away by a phone call from
his office. Before he left, he promised that he would be back very soon to help Vivian move her things.
At that, Vivian said that she was merely joking and wasn’t really planning on making him help.
However, she couldn’t outargue him in the end, so she could only wait for him at home.
While they were resting on the sofa just after Benedict had left, Noah came over and knelt before them.
“Mr. Norton, Mrs. Norton,” Noah greeted.
At that, Vivian looked at him, curious to know what he wanted to say. But beside her, Finnick didn’t
even spare him a single glance.
To him, what he had done was already merciful toward someone who had previously betrayed him.
Thus, how could he possibly still deign to spare him any attention?
“Mr. and Mrs. Norton, I know what I did this time was indeed grievous beyond words. However, I had no
choice because I still had my parents to consider. I couldn’t be an unfilial son, so there was no other
way out for me.”
Upon hearing that, rage surged within Finnick, and he saw red.
“But if I were given a chance at a do-over, I’d definitely save them with everything I have instead of
betraying you. While I must save my parents, if I were to do something that goes against morality, then
I would henceforth lose all dignity.”
He had been piecing this speech together throughout the whole of last night, and he now finally gave
voice to it. As for whether he would be getting any forgiveness, that would depend on Vivian and
Finnick.
“Therefore, I’m not wishing that you’ll forgive me now, Mr. and Mrs. Norton. I only hope that you’ll send
me to prison so that I’ll receive my due punishment. I know having you punish me will only dirty your
hands. Thus, that’s the only way to alleviate my guilt.”
Noah sounded exceedingly earnest without a hint of pretense, the remorse and helplessness in his
voice shining vividly.
Nevertheless, not only did Finnick’s anger not abate, but it blazed all the more hotly instead.
To him, Noah was simply hoping for forgiveness from him.
If he’s truly repentant, then he shouldn’t ever appear before me again! But instead of doing that, he’s
actually repenting before me!
“Let me tell you that it has never ended well for those who betray me, Finnick Norton. Prison? That’s
too good for you. I’ve got a thousand ways to punish you just because of one mistake you’ve
committed.”
Betrayal was the one thing he detested most in his life. Since I chose him to be my assistant, I’ve
always trusted him. Never had I thought he’d repay me in such a manner!
“Mr. Norton.” Noah’s head dipped even lower after hearing this.
Chapter 778
Chapter 778
Noah naturally knew about Finnick’s methods in dealing with betrayers. Yet, this time, he merely kicked
him three times.
All things said, he didn’t want Finnick to be too livid since it would affect his health adversely.
“Let this matter go, Finnick,” Vivian, who had been listening to them both at the side, blurted out of the
blue.
Shocked, Noah’s head snapped up, and he stared at her. Likewise, Finnick also gaped at her in
surprise.
He has betrayed me and caused us to be separated for five years! And you’re now asking me to let it
go?
Finnick couldn’t quite understand why she would say such a thing.
Aware of his thoughts, Vivian explained her reasons to Finnick.
“Firstly, he’s your subordinate, and you failed to protect his parents. This is the first mistake. Secondly,
he had a valid reason for doing so – his parents had been kidnapped. Anyone would panic were this to
happen to them,” she surmised.
Although he had done something wrong, fortunately, his mistake wasn’t all that grievous. Besides, he
still chose to reveal the truth in the end. That in itself proves that he deserves forgiveness.
“Alright, I’ll do as you say.” Despite feeling that her arguments made sense, Finnick felt that a betrayal
was still betrayal, and it wasn’t excusable.
But for her sake, I’ll still take her feelings into consideration even if I’ve got to suppress my anger.
“Noah, you may continue staying by Finnick’s side. However, remember one thing – no matter what
you do, stop while you’re ahead.” After saying this, Vivian pulled Finnick up and went upstairs to see
how things were between Larry and Mrs. Booker.
Although they had left, Noah, who was left there, remained kneeling for a very long time. This time, he
was truly impressed by Vivian’s magnanimity, and he harbored bone-deep respect toward her.
Now that I think back on how I had people kidnap Mrs. Norton and planned to kill her unborn baby, I
myself think that I was truly too cruel! But since she’s not going to pursue the matter, I’ll be all the more
dedicated to her and Mr. Norton in the future. I’ll prove to them that despite having made a mistake
once, I certainly won’t do it a second time! I’ll definitely serve them wholeheartedly!
“Mr. Morrison.” Just when Benedict had arrived at the office, he caught sight of his assistant, who was
calling out to him while standing by the entrance.
“What happened?” Benedict asked as he strode toward his office since he had no idea what was so
important that could’ve happened early in the morning.
All the way to his office, he inclined his head in return to the employees who greeted him.
“Some police officers came to inquire about the kidnapping case three days ago.” The assistant had
heard some rumors that were circulating out there, but he wasn’t sure about the entire incident.
Hence, he was rather panicked and didn’t know what to do when police officers came.
And that was why he asked Benedict to rush to the office early in the morning.
“Got it. It’s okay, I’ll handle it.” I’ve already notified the police when I found them, so I simply can’t figure
out why they came.
The moment he stepped into his office, he was greeted by the sight of three police officers sitting
before his table.
When the three police officers saw Benedict coming in, they stood up and bowed to him. Then, they
started posing their questions.
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Morrison. We know that the kidnapping case a few days ago has been solved,
but we have orders to find the kidnapper and arrest him,” the police officer in the lead declared, his
voice filled with respect.
“Why are you still trying to arrest the kidnapper? I’ve already retracted the police report, so this has
nothing to do with the police anymore, no?” Benedict asked since he had no inkling of their intentions.
“Well, Mr. Morrison, our chief wishes to extend his help after hearing that you’ve encountered a
problem,” a police officer at the back swiftly answered.
As soon as his words fell, Benedict instantly knew why they had come to his office.
On the surface, they want to help me bring the kidnapper to justice, but in reality, they want to curry
favor with my family. I heard that the current police chief is going to lose his power, so that’s the main
reason they came this time.
He blinked as he contemplated how he should decline their help.
After all, this entire incident was a misunderstanding. It was merely a trick Larry played, and he couldn’t
possibly send him to the police station personally to stand trial.

Benedict decided that he would simply reveal the truth, and in doing so, quell the police chief’s intention
of ingratiating himself to him.
“Ah, please thank your chief on my behalf, but it was actually a child’s shenanigans that brought about
the misunderstanding of a kidnapping case. I apologize for the inconvenience caused.”
Benedict smiled at the three police officers. After that, he observed their expressions closely and
awaited their reply.
“Oh, so it was your child’s shenanigans from the very beginning. In that case, I truly have to laud his
intelligence and courage.” The police officer in the lead had no other recourse but to offer some
compliments in hopes that the situation could be salvaged upon seeing that there was no hope for
collaboration this time.
“No, no, he’s nothing special.” While Benedict knew that Larry was indeed extraordinarily smart, he
also knew that those words were mere flattery.
Nevertheless, he still looked at the three of them with a bright smile as he then said, “Well then, I’ve still
got some business to attend to, so…”
The message behind his words was clear as day – he wasn’t interested in a collaboration and was
currently swamped, so they should excuse themselves.
After all, he couldn’t be too blunt because they were all in the corporate world. Otherwise, he would be
criticized by others.
“Oh, sure. Do get on with your work, Mr. Morrison. We’ll be leaving first. Please excuse us.” The police
officers knew that he had no desire to work with them, so they decided not to tarry and overstay their
welcome.
“Goodbye. Please see yourselves out.” After casting a final glance at them, Benedict walked over to his
table and took something before taking the exclusive elevator down.
He didn’t forget that he had promised to help Vivian move house today, so he drove back home after
settling the issue.
“Ms. Morrison, what are you planning to do now that you’ve gotten back with Mr. Norton?”
“Ms. Morrison, what’s your relationship with Mr. Norton at the moment?”
“Ms. Morrison, is the child standing between the two of you your child with Mr. Norton?”
A barrage of questions were directed at Vivian.
A few moments ago, just when Vivian was about to put the luggage into the car at the door, she was
greeted by the sight of a group of reports charging over and surrounding the three of them.
As Finnick was wearing a stand-offish expression, the reporters dared not ask him anything. Instead,
they turned their attention to Vivian beside him, who seemed much more approachable.
“Uh…” Vivian didn’t quite know how to answer all those questions, so she hesitated and looked at
Finnick beside her.
Finnick, however, detested being surrounded and interrogated in such a manner. In his opinion, if he
ignored them, they would then find it futile and leave by themselves.
Since neither of them spoke after a long moment, the reporters became all the more worked up as they
hurled out question after question.
At that, exasperation flooding Vivian and Finnick. Exchanging a look, they both remained silent.
“Ms. Morrison, are you shy to answer our questions, or is it because your relationship with Mr. Norton is
shameful in the first place?”
Finnick hadn’t planned on saying anything, but the moment he heard a reporter asking this, he
immediately went livid.
No one is allowed to simply speculate about my relationship with Vivian!
In next to no time, he shielded Vivian in his arms and declared, “Vivian Morrison is my wife, and the kid
between us is our son. As for you, you’re now blacklisted.”
After saying that, he strode toward the house while pulling Vivian along with a hand and carrying Larry
with the other.
Noticing the forbidding expression on his face, the reporters on both sides parted to leave a path in the
middle and allowed them to pass.
However, shock was written all over their faces after hearing that Finnick had gotten back with Vivian,
and they even had a child.
Besides shock, they were also feeling rather regretful that such a handsome president already had a
wife and child.
What a shame! What about us, who still idolize Finnick Norton?
Most of the reporters who came today were female, and the majority of them were fans of Finnick.
Hence, they were all overwhelmed upon hearing that piece of news.
They stood there shell-shocked for about ten minutes until someone abruptly snapped back to her
senses and realized that Finnick had already left. Only then did they start moving.
At that time, their bodies that remained motionless for a long time were already close to going numb.
Fortunately, they had gotten explosive information today, so they harbored no complaints.
However, as the reporter, who had been blacklisted by Finnick watched her colleagues leave happily, a
wave of resentment surged within her.

I just wanted to ask something a more scandalous question, but never had I thought that Finnick
Norton’s temper would be so bad that he blacklisted me at once!
In a trice, unbridled rage blazed in the reporter’s initially calm eyes though her thoughts remained
indiscernible.
“Go and pack up, Vivian. Ben will probably be home soon.” As soon as they went into the house,
Finnick asked Vivian to pack up.
He initially planned to help her out, but alas, he didn’t know what she needed or otherwise.
Thus, he had no choice but to have her do it herself.
“Okay.” Vivian was very satisfied with his action earlier, so at the thought that they would be going
home in a while, she instantly felt as though she was walking on air.
“Daddy, why did those reporters earlier ask Mommy all those questions?” Larry was extremely puzzled
as to why they asked Vivian all those personal questions.
Mommy isn’t a celebrity, so why were they in such a frenzy?
“They actually came because of your kidnapping, but they unexpectedly saw me and your mommy with
you, so the subject shifted to our relationship.”
Finnick knew that Larry’s kidnapping case had already caused a sensation. The reporters should have
been inquiring about the kidnapping case, but gossip naturally garnered more attention compared to a
criminal case.
As they knew which of the two took precedence, they forgot their initial intention and inquired about
their relationship instead.
“Hence, you can’t be so mischievous in the future, little pumpkin.” Vivian couldn’t help chiding Larry
when she overheard their conversation while packing her things.
This time, he had indeed gone overboard, but it was all thanks to him that I’ve now reconciled with
Finnick. If not, I’ve got no idea when the misunderstanding between us would’ve been resolved.
“Got it, Mommy,” Larry murmured guiltily, knowing that he had created trouble for his parents this time.
“But your intelligence and courage are indeed admirable, little pumpkin,” Finnick proclaimed as he
ruffled Larry’s head, admiration written all over his face.
The kidnapping this time took place at a relatively remote place, and Larry had to observe them outside
at night, so it required a lot of guts.
“Hehe, Mommy taught me well!” In reality, Vivian didn’t really teach Larry anything much; it was all his
ingenuity.
Nonetheless, since he was now giving her this honor, Vivian accepted it without any compunction.
After having made two trips up and down the stairs, her brother, Benedict, came home.
“Why is everything already packed?” Benedict stared at the bags of various sizes on the floor. Didn’t
she say that she’d wait for me to come back?
“How would I dare have you help me when you’re such a busy man, Ben?” Vivian teased him with a
smile, and she even brushed a finger under his jaw.
At that moment, she appeared very much roguish.
However, as she was teasing him, a pair of big and strong hands grabbed hers.
The moment she looked up, she was greeted by Finnick’s face.
“Have you forgotten that you’re married, Honey?” Finnick arched an eyebrow as he gazed at her
domineeringly.
Having forgotten that this jealous man was also here, Vivian froze.
“There’s no need to help her, Ben. Let her pack up by herself.” Finnick knew that she was almost done,
so he was merely saying this to punish her for a bit.
“Okay.” Benedict felt that he shouldn’t be interfering in their squabble, so he merely nodded in
acquiescence.
“Ben, you… you’re just too much!” Vivian was often picked on by Finnick in the past, so she was
already accustomed to this.
But never had she thought that her amiable brother would team up with him and treat her in such a
manner.
“Don’t blame me, Vivian. I’m doing this for your own good.” Benedict looked at her with feigned
righteousness.
“Hmph!” Vivian snorted as she stared at their nefarious expressions before she went back to packing.
“Remember to take good care of her, Finnick.” Benedict was a tad reluctant to see Vivian leave when
they had been living together for five years.
Nevertheless, he could only suppress his reluctance in exchange for his sister’s happiness.
