Ch. 801..810
Chapter 801
Several girls on the second floor gathered around to discuss this topic. Fortunately for them, Finnick
was out of earshot.
Otherwise, he would make them pay simply for badmouthing his wife.
“Vivian, try this one.” While she was still staring at the beautiful clothes laid out before her in a daze,
Finnick expertly picked one for her.
It was an all-black dress.
The waist area was speckled with diamonds, making the dress look intense yet feminine.
It was so glamourous that Vivian didn’t have the confidence to pull it off.
But noticing the expectant look on Finnick’s face, she still went into the fitting room to try it on.
The moment Vivian emerged, the particles in the air seemed to come to a standstill.
Seeing the stunned look on Finnick’s face, Vivian thought it was like before when he either found her
ugly or pretty.
Hence, she stood in front of him and let him study her closely.
Right then, the salesperson coughed meaningfully and whispered something into Vivian’s ear.
Vivian’s face instantly flushed a beetroot red and she hastily went back to the fitting room.
It turned out that her bra straps were exposed due to her carelessness. That was what caused them to
wear those looks on their faces.
When she thought about how she even walked up to present herself to Finnick, she smacked her
forehead, feeling utterly stupid. It would remain one of the many embarrassing things she had done in
her life.
However, she couldn’t change what happened, so she adjusted her straps, sucked it up, and went out
again.
Vivian checked herself in the mirror first, making sure there were no more issues before walking toward
Finnick. “How do I look?”
Of course, Finnick trusted his own taste, but he noticed that the dress was a tad too revealing because
the size he had chosen for her was a little too tight for her busty figure.
“Get one size bigger,” Finnick ordered the salesperson, who immediately did as she was told.
Vivian swiftly changed into the dress and walked out again. This time, everyone wore looks of approval.
Finnick felt that this dress suited Vivian the most. Even the salesperson looked at Vivian with awe and
couldn’t help but admire her for having such a fashion-savvy husband.
Finnick gazed at Vivian for a while. Feeling that something was still missing, he went to the jewelry
section and selected a necklace for her.
A ruby diamond necklace with a unique design caught his attention and he put it on for Vivian.
The necklace instantly elevated Vivian’s value and she looked like a princess coming out of the palace
to pay her subjects a visit.
She was gorgeous beyond comparison, but she was still missing a pair of shoes to match.
Finnick squinted his eyes in thought. Since her dress is black, we can go with a pair of white shoes
then. You can never go wrong with a classic black and white combination.
No one will have anything bad to say about it either.
Since we’re visiting Grandpa, her heels don’t need to be too high. With that thought in mind, Finnick
picked a pair of low-heeled shoes and asked Vivian to try them on.
She looked perfect in the slim-fitting dress and a pair of moderately high heels which accentuated her
long, slender legs.
The salesperson stared at the combination of clothes with stars in her eyes and swore that if she had
enough money someday, she would wear the same outfit combination.
Even though she wouldn’t look as good as Vivian, no matter what, she needed to learn this style of
outfit mash-up.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to live up to her position as a salesperson.
At the thought of this, she was certain that Finnick would definitely buy the whole outfit and mentally
calculated the hefty commission she would receive from this.
Despite her excitement, she reminded herself that she was a professional and had to stay calm to
maintain her image as an exemplary salesperson.
“How’s everything, miss? Is there anything else you’d like to see?” The salesperson was secretly
hoping that Vivian would say yes. That way, she could earn even more commission.
“Do you see anything you like?” Finnick looked at Vivian with a gentle gaze.
Never one to buy unnecessarily, Vivian shook her head in response.
“That will be all. I’ll pay by card.” Finnick handed a card to the salesperson, then glanced at Vivian.
Chapter 802
Chapter 802
Vivian noticed Finnick staring at her and thought that there was something on her face. After touching
her cheeks and finding nothing unusual, she asked him with confusion, “What is it?”
“I was just thinking how beautiful my wife looked in that dress,” Finnick leaned closer and whispered
against her ear.
Vivian’s blushed prettily at that.
Lucky for her, the salesperson was a quick worker and they left the place soon after. Otherwise, Finnick
would probably have said even more indecent things.
Seeing as there were two more hours until noon, Vivian proposed to pick Larry up from school, then
head to Samuel’s house.
Finnick readily agreed with her arrangement and drove straight to Larry’s school.
Larry attended an elite school. Each class had very few students and Vivian found comfort in that.
After all, schools were where many children changed, for better or for worse.
Even though schools nurtured many talented individuals, they could also lead them astray.
Many students developed bad behavior after starting school because of mixing with the wrong crowd.
Over time, those children would venture down a path of no return.
Hence, the fewer students in a class, the better it would be for their future development.
“Vivian, what do you think Larry’s doing now?” Finnick had been wondering what his son was doing in
school since he drove out of the mall’s parking lot.
When he drew a blank, he decided to ask Vivian instead, thinking he might as well strike up a
conversation as he was bored from driving.
“Hmm, I guess he’s having his lesson in class.”
Vivian regarded school as a place of knowledge. Even if it was only a kindergarten, she believed that it
was only natural that the teachers taught the students vocabulary, grammar, and everything along
those lines.
“Hmm, probably.” Vivian’s answer was within Finnick’s expectations.
“We should wait until their class is over or we might disturb the other kids.”
Vivian was worried that their abrupt arrival would interrupt the students’ class and end up distracting
them.
Later on, she realized that she was overthinking things.
When they both arrived at Larry’s school, the class wasn’t over yet. Hence, they went to the viewing
room for parents and watched Larry through a transparent screen.
All of Larry’s classmates were playing, but Larry was seated alone at his desk while drawing something
that she couldn’t make out.
What surprised her was the large group of girls surrounding Larry.
Upon closer inspection, she found that there were only ten boys and ten girls in his class.
There were nine girls around Larry, while the tenth girl was crying by the side because there wasn’t any
space left for her to get close to him.
Vivian was stupefied when she saw this scene.
She was aware that her son was more handsome than most boys, but she never expected the actual
situation to be this serious.
“Look at all his admirers. Like father, like son.” Exasperated, Vivian shot Finnick a sidelong glance.
Just like Larry, women flocked to Finnick. Even though they couldn’t speak to them, being close to
them was more than enough.
Finnick and Larry were very similar in this aspect.
Finnick’s lips curved into a devilish smirk and he asked in a deep voice, “Honey, are you jealous?”
“No, I’m not.” Vivian gave him a dirty look, then shifted her gaze back to Larry.
As if sensing someone’s eyes on him, Larry searched for the source of it and was surprised to see his
mother.
Vivian waved at him and he broke into a wide smile.
As this was their first time seeing Larry smile, the girls around him bounced happily on their feet.
Vivian was at a loss. Those little girls are already swooning over a boy at their age. What’s going to
happen when they grow up?
And what about my little pumpkin? He’s already so well-liked at his age, what’s going to happen when
he grows up?
Vivian was conflicted, wanting to find a way to get rid of Larry’s girl magnet trait, but even after racking
her brain for a long time, she still came up blank.
Chapter 803
Chapter 803
As if reading her mind, Finnick said, “I have an idea.” Vivian’s eyes lit up, but quickly dimmed when she
heard his next words.
“Find Larry a wife. All problems will be solved then.” Finnick himself was living proof that it was an
effective plan.
Hence, he proposed it to Vivian without much thought.
Vivian felt the urge to give him a good beating for suggesting something like this.
Larry’s only a child, for goodness sake. Find him a wife? He’s teasing me, right?
Just when Vivian wanted to voice her complaints, Larry emerged from the classroom.
He threw himself into Vivian’s arms and held Finnick’s hand. The smile on his face was especially
bright.
“Mommy, Daddy, what are you doing here?” Larry tilted his head in confusion. Noah’s usually the one
who picks me up. How come it’s Mommy and Daddy today?
And it’s only lunchtime now. We aren’t allowed to go home before class is over.
“Did you forget? We’re going to your great-grandpa’s house today,” Vivian cooed and reached out to
stroke his hair with a soft smile, glowing with maternal love.
“Oh, I almost forgot about that.” Larry scratched his head with a sheepish smile.
“Hey, look! Are they Larry’s parents?”
“I don’t know.”
“His daddy is so handsome. And his mommy is so pretty too!”
Afraid to approach the family of three, the group of children could only discuss from afar. Despite the
distance, Vivian and Finnick still caught their words.
As the children studied the good-looking couple, they couldn’t help but feel envious.
At the same time, they began to complain about their own parents not being as attractive.
“Maybe this is fate,” came a girl’s clear and loud voice.
Vivian was tickled pink by her words and a laugh escaped her lips.
This child sounds mature for her age. And she even believes in fate?
Vivian directed her gaze toward the source of the voice.
She didn’t see this girl in Larry’s classroom earlier, which meant that she wasn’t Larry’s classmate, but
Vivian noticed how pretty she was.
The girl noticed Vivian’s gaze on her, so she stepped forward and greeted, “Good morning, sir, ma’am.”
“Good morning.” Vivian offered the girl a smile while Finnick only nodded in response.
He wasn’t interested in communicating with children. Of course, Larry was the only exception.
“Ma’am, are you here to pick Larry up?” the little girl asked.
“That’s right.”
“You must have somewhere to be. I won’t hold you up, then. Have a safe drive,” the girl said sensibly.
Her mature personality resembled Larry’s in a way.
“Alright. Goodbye now.”
With that, Vivian led Larry and Finnick away. After getting into the car, she asked Larry about the girl
out of curiosity.
The girl was a student in the class next door to Larry’s. Her name was Joey Neville and she came from
an impressive family background as well.
That was why she was so mature for her age.
Vivian also got to know from Larry that Joey’s family had a unique upbringing and was very religious.
That was why she had said those surprising words earlier.
“How do you know about all this, little pumpkin?” Vivian found it strange. Children don’t really go
around talking about these things, do they? So how does Larry know?
“From my own observations, of course.” Larry gave her a look that seemed to say that she had just
asked a stupid question.
Vivian looked at Larry with fond exasperation, not knowing how to respond.
It’s probably better if kids weren’t that smart. Look at how he’s starting to insult my IQ level.
Finnick chuckled lowly but did not come to Vivian’s aid.
“Little pumpkin, I saw a lot of girls crowding around you in class. What are your thoughts on this?”
Vivian felt that she had to address this problem as soon as possible, lest her son started dating too
early in his years.
“Nothing. They said they like me, so I guess that’s why they’re always by my side.” It was as simple as
that to Larry and he didn’t see anything wrong with them staying by his side.
Hearing Larry’s innocent answer, Vivian did not know how to proceed, so she looked to Finnick for
help.
Chapter 804
Chapter 804
Vivian hoped that Finnick could say a few educational words to Larry.
“Larry, did you know? When a boy plays too much with a girl, he’ll start acting like her too. As in, he
might not grow up to be a real man.”
Finnick looked at Larry with a solemn expression. Indeed, what he said wasn’t wrong. Some boys who
played too much with girls ended up become slightly feminine.
However, the main reason Finnick had said that was to warn Larry away from those girls.
“But I didn’t go looking for them. They were the ones who came to me.” Larry gazed at his father with
an aggrieved look after hearing what he said.
Daddy has misunderstood me.
Larry cared about his mother the most. If he didn’t grow up to be a real man, he wouldn’t be able to
protect her.
Hence, he was slightly disheartened.
“Alright, we’ll take it as a misunderstanding on your daddy’s part. Since you didn’t go looking for them,
then you shouldn’t play too much with them either, okay?” Vivian chimed in.
She knew that it wasn’t very appropriate to forbid her son from playing with those girls, but it was better
than allowing him to go down the wrong path and getting into a relationship at such a young age.
“I’ve never talked to them.”
Larry was speaking the truth. Indeed, he ignored those girls on a frequent basis. Moreover, although
those girls approached him, they never spoke to him.
In fact, they were afraid to do so because of his impassive expression.
“Mm. Be a good boy in school, okay, little pumpkin?” Vivian didn’t think she needed to say anymore.
“Okay,” Larry answered her very quickly.
Vivian felt at ease because she knew her son would be a good boy without her needing to tell him.
Finnick’s mouth arched into a smile while listening to their conversation.
Because Larry’s school was quite far from the Norton residence, the car ride was rather long.
By the time they arrived, it was already half-past eleven.
Vivian carried Larry down the car and spotted someone waiting for them at the door.
“Mr. and Mrs. Norton.” The housemaid had been waiting here for a long time.
Because she didn’t know who the little boy between them was, she didn’t address him.
“Mm. Where’s Grandpa?” Finnick queried.
“He’s inside,” the housemaid replied and showed them the way.
The Norton residence was huge. As soon as they entered the house, Vivian found that it gave off a
completely different vibe from their own house.
Their house was warm and cozy, while the Norton residence was somber and intense.
This was probably the difference in taste between the younger and older generation.
As Vivian speculated in silence, she scanned her surroundings at the same time, but there was no sign
of her grandfather-in-law.
“Where’s Grandpa?” Vivian cast a questioning gaze at Finnick.
Unlike Finnick, she wasn’t very familiar with Samuel’s habits and daily routines.
“He’s in the garden.” Then, he tugged Vivian toward the garden with confidence.
There were only three places his grandfather could be at home – the study, his bedroom, or the
garden.
At this hour, the chances that he was in the garden were the highest.
Hence, Finnick made a beeline toward the garden.
Once there, he immediately caught sight of his grandfather sitting on the rocking chair.
At seventy years old, Samuel had a head of white hair and prominent wrinkles around his eyes.
His eyes were closed as he took a nap and no one dared to disturb him when he was submerged in his
own world.
This place had become his personal paradise for him to live out the days of his care life.
“You’re here.” Just when Vivian wanted to continue surveying the place, Samuel’s voice pierced
through the silence.
“Mm,” Finnick responded curtly.
“Grandpa,” Vivian greeted him respectfully, then nudged Larry. “Quick. Say hi to your great-grandpa.”
Samuel’s eyes widened in surprise at Vivian’s words. Since when did I have a great-grandson? Why
didn’t I know anything about this?
He glanced at Finnick, as though asking for an explanation.
“Great-grandpa,” Larry called out with a broad grin, instantly taking a liking to this kind-looking elderly
man.
Samuel hummed in approval, developing a fondness for this great-grandson at first glance.
Chapter 805
Chapter 805
Then, he aimed an accusatory glance at Finnick.
It’s bad enough that they didn’t tell me they reconciled. They didn’t even tell me they have a son who’s
already this old!
Samuel’s stern gaze made Finnick slightly uneasy.
Clearing his throat, he explained, “Grandpa, I was going to tell you, but I wanted to wait until things
were more stable.”
Finnick gauged his grandfather’s reaction, hoping that this reason would appease him.
But Samuel never planned to hold him accountable for this in the first place. Seeing as Finnick rarely
came home, he didn’t want to kick up a fuss.
In spite of that, he still harrumphed loudly in displeasure.
“Don’t be mad, Great-grandpa. Daddy didn’t mean it.” Larry went up to Samuel and tugged on the hem
of his shirt, hoping to ease his anger.
“Haha. Alright, alright.” Samuel happily obliged, his beard quivering slightly as he chuckled.
Everyone sighed inaudibly when they saw Samuel in good spirits, especially the two adults.
Nothing was more important than making sure Samuel was happy.
No longer angry, Samuel asked them to head to the dining room for lunch.
It had been a long time since the whole family had a meal together, so Samuel ordered the housemaid
to prepare an especially big feast.
The housemaid knew that Finnick and Vivian rarely came home, so she made sure to give it her best.
Samuel didn’t know about Vivian’s preferences, so to play it safe, he instructed the housemaid to
prepare a little bit of everything.
As a result, the table was filled with a wide variety of food, and Vivian was humbled at the sight of it.
“Grandpa, you didn’t have to prepare so much food. I’m not a picky eater.” Vivian was worried that she
would receive the same grand reception the next time they visited because it would put a lot of
pressure on her.
“Alright. Let’s enjoy a scrumptious meal just this once. I’ll make it simple the next time.” Samuel, of
course, understood Vivian’s concerns.
He didn’t see the need to place unnecessary pressure on the younger generation, so he agreed to
Vivian’s request.
Vivian nodded gratefully at Samuel and realized that he wasn’t very difficult to get along with. She
could tell that he was more understanding and open-minded than most people his age.
This revelation made her relax considerably and the tension from before instantly left her body.
“Mommy, I want to eat that one.” Because there were too many dishes and the table was exceptionally
large, Larry couldn’t reach many of the dishes with his short hands and could only turn to his mother for
help.
Vivian glanced at the dish Larry was pointing at and noticed that it was a bit far from her as well.
She would need to stand up to reach it, which would seem rather impolite.
While she was caught in a dilemma, a hand reached out to place some of the dishes onto Larry’s plate.
Vivian shot a grateful look at Finnick and the latter gave her a wink, indicating that he was more than
happy to help.
Upon realizing that Samuel had probably witnessed their entire interaction, she blushed slightly.
“Hahaha. Finnick, you cheeky brat. Since you’re both back together now, you’ll have to make the most
of it.” Samuel had always favored Vivian, so he was thrilled that they were back together.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have called them over for lunch.
“Don’t worry, Grandpa. We will,” replied Finnick as he gazed intently at Vivian.
His words seemed like they were for his grandfather when in fact, they were also meant for Vivian.
“Vivian, if Finnick does anything wrong by you, you come straight to me and I’ll teach him a lesson for
you.”
Samuel didn’t look like he was joking at all.
“Yes, Grandpa,” Vivian responded with a smile, but didn’t say anything else.
The Nortons paid great attention to table manners, so everyone bowed their heads and ate in silence,
finishing their meal very quickly.
Samuel talked to Finnick and Vivian, while Larry sat idly on the sofa, only occasionally joining in the
conversation.
“Vivian, your son is already five years old. Are you planning to give him a little sister any time soon?”
Chapter 806
Chapter 806
Samuel himself preferred girls over boys, but he never had the luck of having a daughter. Hence, he
could only rely on Vivian to bear him a granddaughter.
However, Vivian stiffened at the mention of having another child.
We’ve only just gotten back together. Should we really have another child so soon?
She knew she couldn’t be so blunt with an elder, so she hoped to relay her message subtly. “Grandpa,
it hasn’t been long since I returned. I think it’s best to wait until we get accustomed to things before
talking about having more kids.”
She carefully observed Samuel’s expression, but instead of discontent, she only saw an understanding
gleam in his eyes.
“That’s a good idea too. Let’s give Larry and Finnick more time to bond.”
Larry had been deprived of fatherly love since young. If they had another child so soon, it wouldn’t be
beneficial for him.
After chatting for a little longer, they decided to leave.
“It’s getting late, Grandpa. We’ll be taking our leave now.” Finnick glanced at Samuel, waiting for his
reply.
Knowing what was on their minds, Samuel said nothing and nodded to signal that they could leave.
“Bye, Grandpa.” Vivian nodded courteously to Samuel.
“Bye, Great-grandpa,” Larry politely bid Samuel goodbye.
A smile spread across Samuel’s face in response.
He was growing fonder of Larry by the second. Since the same blood ran through their veins, it wasn’t
odd that Larry looked very similar to Finnick when he was young, but what made Larry so likeable was
his good manners.
After bidding farewell to Samuel, they decided to go out for a stroll instead of heading home right away.
Finnick called Noah to take Larry home.
Larry was initially reluctant to part ways with them, but when he thought about his parents wanting to
spend quality time together, he realized that it wasn’t appropriate for him to tag along. Hence, he
begrudgingly followed Noah home.
After they left, Vivian kept thinking about what Samuel said just now.
She did plan to have two children: a boy and a girl.
But now’s not the right time to have another baby. I’ll just wait and see how things turn out first.
“What are you thinking of?” Finnick waved his hand in front of Vivian’s face for quite some time before
she snapped out of her daze.
“What’s wrong?” Vivian blinked at Finnick in confusion, thinking that he had something important to say.
“Nothing. I called you so many times, but you ignored me.” Finnick feigned hurt, putting on a pitiful look
on his face.
Vivian rolled her eyes at him playfully and started walking, leaving Finnick behind.
Finnick watched in disbelief as she swiveled on her heels and walked away without once looking back.
Then, he regained his senses and quickly caught up to her.
“Vivian, what are your thoughts on Grandpa’s suggestion to have a daughter?” Finnick wanted a
daughter as well, so he decided to test the waters since he knew he couldn’t force Vivian to have
another baby if she didn’t want to.
“Maybe in a few years. At least until Larry has gotten used to this family.”
Even if they wanted a daughter, they needed to take Larry’s feelings into consideration as he was their
only son.
“Alright.” Finnick wasn’t planning to have a child so soon anyway. Seeing that Vivian had the intention
to have a daughter as well, his heart settled and he did not probe further.
Both of them shared the same thoughts. Timing was the only issue.
Finnick held Vivian’s hand and walked along the street which was known for its unique architectural
style.
Its beauty was the reason why it was more congested than other streets.
Even though the crowd was thick, Finnick did not once let go of Vivian’s hand as they weaved through
the sea of people.
The attractive couple instantly drew envious glances from the passersby.
All of them, men and women alike, silently vowed to find a good-looking partner like them in the future.
Meanwhile, Vivian and Finnick strolled leisurely along the street, completely unaware that they had
become a reference for choosing a partner.
But it wasn’t a bad thing either because people only considered good things to be paragons. This also
proved that in the eyes of many, Vivian and Finnick were the epitome of a perfect couple.
Vivian was in a jovial mood as they ambled along the street with their interlocked hands swinging back
and forth like a couple madly in love. After walking for a while, she spotted a girl at the corner of the
street.
Chapter 807
Chapter 807
Even though the little girl wasn’t particularly pretty, she was extremely adorable.
She was staring unblinkingly through the window of a shop, as though there was something she greatly
cherished inside.
Vivian’s curiosity was piqued as she wondered what exactly deserved the girl’s unwavering attention.
Hence, she shot Finnick a glance, signaling for him to follow her forward, to which he nodded and
complied.
Upon walking closer, her eyes widened in surprise as it was not what she expected at all.
The little girl was staring at a very beautiful wedding gown.
The gown did not have many extravagant decorations. It was just an uncomplicated design with simple
color, but it looked pure and modest in a very alluring way.
Hence, it wasn’t all that strange that the little girl was fascinated by it.
When Vivian was young, she, too, had fantasized about wearing a beautiful wedding gown to walk
down the aisle and marry the man she loved.
Looking at the look of awe on the girl’s face, she had the urge to ask her why she liked this wedding
gown.
So, she crouched down and peered at the girl with a gentle gaze before vocalizing her curiosity.
But the girl’s answer came as a massive shock to her.
“My family is poor, so my mommy said no one will marry me when I grow up, so I’ve come here to look
at this wedding dress.
“It’s really beautiful, but I feel sad that I won’t have the chance to wear it in the future. That’s why I want
to look at it now so that I won’t have too many regrets in the future.”
After she finished speaking, tears pooled in her eyes, but she quickly blinked them away.
Vivian’s heart squeezed in her chest when she saw the girl trying so hard not to cry.
“It’s okay, sweetie, don’t cry. Every girl will get the chance to wear their dream wedding dress and
marry their Prince Charming.”
Vivian wanted to comfort the little girl, but her brows furrowed slightly as she sensed something off.
After a moment, she realized where the problem lay. She never had a wedding, let alone wearing a
wedding gown.
Vivian didn’t know how to comfort the girl anymore because it would only be a lie if she did.
She didn’t wish to lie to such a cute little girl, so she could only swallow back the words at the tip of her
tongue.
“Okay. Then I’ll study hard and wear a wedding dress when I grow up.” After listening to what Vivian
said, the girl suddenly broke into a brilliant smile and promised to study hard.
With that, she turned around and left, leaving Vivian in a daze.
Just a single sentence managed to make her so happy?
Kids nowadays are really easy to coax.
Finnick fell into deep thought after witnessing this scene.
“C’mon.” Vivian slipped her hand into Finnick’s and continued walking forward.
They reached home after walking for a little longer. Vivian was exhausted from an entire day of activity,
but she went to check on Larry in his bedroom first. Seeing that he was still awake and playing with his
toys, she told him to come downstairs to have some fruits.
She wanted to create more opportunities for Finnick and Larry to spend more time with each other.
Only then could Larry fit into his new home sooner.
Of course, Finnick understood the reason behind Vivian’s efforts.
Hence, he tried his best to play the role of a father. Even though he didn’t have any experience, zero
was where many things started.
Nothing’s impossible as long as we work hard for it.
With that thought in mind, Finnick put things in motion.
“Larry, look what I bought for you.” Finnick brought over a Doraemon jigsaw puzzle and placed it in
front of his son.
Previously when Vivian showed Larry to his Doraemon-themed room, Finnick noticed how happy the
latter was. Hence, he took note of it and bought something Doraemon-related for him as well.
But this jigsaw puzzle required two people to complete it. This could provide the father and son more
bonding time and improve Larry’s intelligence at the same time.
Finnick studied Larry’s face to gauge his reaction.
“Thank you, Daddy. I love it!” Larry genuinely liked this gift.
Finnick ruffled Larry’s hair with a fond smile and said, “As long as you like it.”
With that, he started to piece the puzzle with Larry.
Chapter 808
Chapter 808
Larry was a smart child. Even Finnick would have taken some time to complete the puzzle alone, but
under his guidance, Larry successfully pieced the puzzle together very quickly.
Brimming with fatherly pride, Finnick picked Larry up and spun him around, causing the little boy to
giggle happily.
He had always wanted to be swung around by his father when he was younger. Thus, he was over the
moon when his wish finally came true.
Vivian’s lips curled into a content smile as she watched the interaction between the father and son.
This was undoubtedly the best scenario a family could hope for. As for having a daughter, that would
have to wait until a few more years into the future.
Of course, Vivian wished for more beautiful moments such as this for her family, but rather than risk
shattering the moment, it was better to exercise caution instead of rushing things.
After all, one wrong move could very well disrupt the harmony in this family.
Vivian smiled in relief as she observed her two favorite boys dancing around with equally bright grins.
She was confident that no one could come in between her family when they had such a strong bond.
Night fell soon.
Vivian lay in bed and stared blankly at the ceiling.
Finnick, on the other hand, had his arms wrapped around her, immersed in his thoughts.
“Vivian, do you think that little girl from earlier will have the chance to wear her dream wedding dress in
the future?”
Vivian was perplexed by his question, but she still answered him seriously, “I don’t know about the
wedding dress, but I’m sure it won’t be like what her mother said about no one wanting to marry her.”
Vivian disapproved of certain parenting styles that affected a child negatively. No matter how poor a
family is, they should never destroy a little girl’s dreams like that.
What’s wrong with telling a few white lies if it means making your child happy?
Parents should, at the very least, protect their children’s feelings.
Finnick hummed in response but remained otherwise silent. He had only asked it as a casual question,
but after hearing Vivian’s answer, he was even more certain about his decision.
The two of them fell asleep in each other’s arms that night.
The next morning, Vivian was bewildered when she woke up alone on the bed.
After washing up, she went downstairs to look for Finnick, but he was nowhere in sight and neither
could she reach him on his phone.
She was baffled because usually, he would inform her before leaving the house.
And even if he wasn’t home, he would keep his phone turned on twenty-four-seven and answer
whenever she called. What’s going on today?
Where did he go this early in the morning?
Puzzled, Vivian went to Larry’s bedroom and found that he was still asleep.
Left without a choice, she could only sit on the sofa and wait, thinking that he would be back for
breakfast.
Unfortunately, she thought wrong – it was still radio silence on Finnick’s end when breakfast time
arrived.
When Larry came downstairs after washing up, Vivian sighed and started breakfast without her
husband.
But later on, she noticed another problem – Noah was missing as well.
Hence, she had no choice but to personally send Larry to school that morning.
Because it had been a long time since Vivian drove him to school, Larry was in seventh heaven when
he got to know this.
Yay, Mommy’s finally sending me to school today!
Vivian smiled when she sensed Larry’s excitement and urged him to quickly finish his meal to avoid
being late.
In good spirits, Larry happily obeyed.
Vivian was still pondering where Finnick could have gone to, but after a long time, she was no closer to
figuring it out.
It was soon time for Larry to go to school.
Vivian chose a low-profile car from the garage. After getting Larry settled, she put the car in drive and
set off.
As Vivian wondered what Finnick was doing, the latter was scratching his head over where he should
place the flower in his hands.
It turned out that he felt he owed it to Vivian to give her an unforgettable wedding.
Thus, he wanted to go through the normal procedure, which meant proposing to Vivian.
Finnick heard that women liked getting proposed to in public, so he set the location of the proposal in
the largest park in the city.
First of all, parks generally gave people a warm and pleasant feeling, so he believed that it was suitable
for a proposal. Secondly, there would also be a larger audience.

Finnick surveyed the place he had woken up early just to set up, his heart suddenly swelling with pride
for himself.
Flower petals were strewn all over the ground and the fairy lights hanging from the trees gave the
whole park a dreamy vibe.
Some pedestrians stopped in their tracks when they saw the beautiful sight, wondering what kind of
event was about to happen.
After a while, they figured that it was probably some big shot trying to please his woman.
Those whose curiosity got the better of them stayed back to join in the hype, waiting for the female lead
to arrive.
After making sure everything was ready, Finnick turned to Noah and said, “Check the time.”
He would tell Vivian to come here if it was almost time.
Noah checked his watch and answered, “It’s half-past eleven, Mr. Norton.”
Half past eleven…
He did a mental calculation and deemed that it was time.
He fished out his phone and sent Vivian a text message.
Finnick: Come to the park now. The one we always go to.
After he hit the send button, Vivian’s reply came almost immediately.
Vivian: What are you doing there?
Afraid of giving himself away, Finnick did not reply to her, thinking that it was best to refrain from
speaking unnecessarily.
The proposal was a surprise and he did not want to accidentally spoil it.
“Get into position, everyone.” After Finnick gave the green light, Noah ordered everyone to give it their
all to ensure the proposal was a success.
Vivian was already worried about Finnick as it was, so after he contacted her, she wasted no time,
doing exactly as he had instructed.
After grabbing her stuff in record time, she pulled out of the garage once again.
On the way there, she tried to guess what he was up to, but she just couldn’t find an answer.
In the end, she simply gave up, reassuring herself to she would find out upon reaching the park they
frequented.
With that thought in mind, she focused all her attention on the road.
Her driving skills weren’t amazing, so she made sure to drive carefully to avoid any accidents.
“Hurry, hurry!” Everyone sprang into action when they spotted Vivian’s car approaching the gates to the
park.
The moment Vivian stepped into the park, the bright sky abruptly turned pitch-black. It was so dark she
couldn’t even make out her own fingers.
Panic rose in her and she faltered in her stride, unsure of whether she should continue moving forward.
After a split second, she mustered up the courage to walk forward.
Suddenly, she stepped on a raised lever on the ground and beautiful stars blinked to life to embellish
the entire dark sky, painting a mesmerizing scene.
Finnick had constructed a beautiful starry sky for Vivian.
Though surprised, she continued walking forward and gradually had an idea of what Finnick was up to,
but the small smile on her lips was the only sign of her awareness.
Although she knew what was going to happen, she maintained the surprise on her face because she
did not want to disappoint Finnick.
She ventured further into the park with eyes that shimmered with wonder and awe, curious to see what
other surprises lay ahead of her.
Sure enough, after taking several steps, she heard music playing in the background.
It was a song she used to love listening to in the past, but ever since the divorce, she stopped listening
to it.
Hence, that familiar melody instantly brought tears to her eyes.
This song evoked many memories and beautiful moments from the past.
Not wanting to ruin such a romantic moment, she looked up at the sky to stop her tears from escaping.
Once she was sure she wasn’t going to be a weeping mess, she continued moving forward.
She thought that she would step on something again, but was surprised when a castle came into sight.
Finnick was inside with Larry, whom they had picked up from school.
Two of her closest relatives were both in the castle.
At that moment, Vivian could no longer hold back her emotions. Tears gathered in her eyes again and
streamed down her cheeks uncontrollably.
She suspected that Finnick was going to propose to her, but she never expected it to be so touching

She knew that this moment was one that would forever be etched into her soul.
With her eyes fixated on Finnick and Larry, she approached the castle as her heart threatened to leap
out of her chest from happiness.
After an entire morning of worrying about Finnick, words completely failed Vivian when she finally saw
him under such circumstances.
“Thank you,” was all she said, hoping to convey all her emotions through these two, simple words.
Thank you for your love and tolerance toward me.
Thank you for preparing such a special proposal for me.
Thank you for playing the most important role in my life.
Thank you…
Vivian’s eyes seemed to speak a thousand words.
Taking the resolution and tears in her eyes, Finnick caressed her hair and pulled her into his arms.
“Silly girl.”
His actions prompted more tears of happiness to roll down her cheeks.
There was also a time when Finnick hugged her this way and called her a silly girl in a gentle voice.
It was a long time ago, but when he repeated those exact actions, Vivian felt like she was transported
back to the past.
As Finnick held her in his arms, the music reached a climax and the stars overhead rained down on
them like falling stars; it was a spellbinding scene.
Vivian gazed at Finnick, noting the glittering stars reflected in his dark orbs. She knew he had beautiful
eyes, but she had never seen them twinkling like this.
“Vivian, today’s the day I propose to you,” Finnick declared in a domineering tone and dropped to one
knee.
Since young, he had only knelt before his grandfather.
Hence, that made Vivian the second one to be bestowed with that honor.
“Vivian, the first time we got married, I didn’t propose to you or profess my love for you, and my
incompetence is to be blamed for that, but today, I want you to marry me and be the happiest bride in
the world.”
He paused briefly before speaking again. “Vivian, I love you. Marry me.” As soon as these words left
his lips, the lights came back on, and rose petals fell from the sky.
Suddenly, the crowd gathered around them started chanting in unison. “Marry him! Marry him!”
Only then did Vivian realize that there were so many onlookers.
Due to the darkness, she failed to notice them earlier, but as she cast her gaze around, she found an
overwhelming number of people assembled around the venue.
Despite that, she was alert enough to remember that Finnick was still kneeling in front of her.
She turned back to look at him, perceiving the heartfelt emotions surfacing in his eyes.
In the past, Finnick always looked at her with a gentle gaze, but right then, there was also
determination and certainty amidst the gentleness in his eyes.
Vivian smiled at that before replying, “Yes.”
As the audience cheered in response, Finnick slipped a wedding ring onto Vivian’s finger.
Vivian was stunned to see the familiar wedding ring.
If memory served her right, she had discarded her ring back then. Why does this one look like a carbon
copy of my ring from before?
She cast at dubious glance at Finnick as he stood up.
Reading her thoughts, he clarified, “This isn’t the one you threw away back then. I bought one that
resembles yours because I know you handpicked it.”
The last part of Finnick’s sentence tugged on Vivian’s heartstrings.
That’s right. I handpicked it back then and I was also the one who threw it away.
Just how much time and effort did it take Finnick to find a ring that looks exactly the same?
Although the ring Vivian chose all those years ago wasn’t that expensive, it was one-of-a-kind in the
world.
For a moment, her mind was flooded with a million and one questions, but she soon realized that all of
those weren’t important.
Perhaps he truly was capable of the impossible, but what mattered most was that they were together.
There was a romantic quality in the air as Finnick and Vivian gazed at each other, but it was disrupted
after a while.
“Mommy, Daddy. Are you married now?” Larry finally blurted out the question on his mind after
watching the two of them getting lost in their own world.
Faced with her son’s question, Vivian was caught in a bind.
I can’t say yes because we don’t have a marriage certificate to prove that we’re a legally married
couple. Neither can I say no because where would that leave Larry, our son?
