Chapter 276: Intention of killing her

The day after Dante’s surgery, Alice and Noah got ready to head to the Marriage registration office. On their way, Alice saw her favorite coffee shop and asked Noah to stop the car as she suddenly got the urge to fill her tummy before they reach their destination.

"Stay here. I’ll get the coffee for you" Noah was about to unhook the seatbelt but Alice stopped him saying she would instead get one for her.

Stepping out of the car, Alice scanned her eyes on the road before she started to cross the road. Reaching the shop she entered in and after ten minutes stepped out carrying two latte cups in her hand.

Noah’s eyes brightened once again as he kept watching her every move. His eyes never leaving her even for a second when a car sped and took Alice along leaving him in utter shock.

Everything happened in a blink of an eye and he was left inside the car unmovable. Before his brain could finally register the incident, the road began to crowd.

As if he was being pulled out from the trance, Noah dashed open the car’s door and ran towards the group of people who blocked his way.

"Alice..." his voice cracked as she pushed everyone and reached towards the girl collapsing next to her.

"No...no..." Noah’s entire body shivered watching the blood oozing out from her head and he quickly removed his jacket and wrapped it around her head trying to stop the bleeding.

Noah was finding it hard to stand on the ground but finding Alice unresponsive to his calls made him jolt up as he picked her up in his arms and ran toward his car.

Tristan and Ashley who were on the same route noticed the commotion and slow down the car when they caught Noah’s blood-soaked body and then when their eyes fell on the girl he was carrying in his arms.

"ALICE!!" Ashley screamed and the car was stopped.

Frantically opening the door, Ashley ran out of the car like a mad woman and reached toward Noah.

"Noah... what happened to her"

As if he wasn’t in the state of listening to anyone, Noah turned deaf to her words and instead opened the car’s door and placed Alice in the backseat.

Tristan who followed Ashley was surprised to see his friend’s distraught state understood the situation and held Ashley’s shoulder as he stopped her from invading his space.

"We need to take her to the hospital," Tristan said and blocked Noah’s way asking him to sit with Alice behind.

Taking over the driver seat, Tristan started the car and drove them to the hospital. On his way, he informed them about the emergency, and as soon as they reached the team quickly reacted and took Alice to the emergency ward.

Soon the news of Alice’s accident reached everyone and they quickly rushed to the hospital.

Leaning next to the emergency room, Noah stood there like a defeated man. Today was supposed to be their day. Today they were going to seal their fate but everything turned the opposite.

He saw Alice slipping away in front of his eyes and there was nothing he could do. The smile she flashed at him while she crossed the road stabbed his heart.

Closing his eyes, he slid down the wall collapsing on the floor like a corpse. Looking at his blood-soaked hands Noah felt like everything was coming to an end. His life was on the verge of being snatched and all he felt at that very moment was helpless.

The door kept opening and closing with nurses running in and out frantically. No one knew what was happening inside the room but the way everyone was frantically moving.

Staring helplessly at her son Anna broke into tears. She didn’t have the heart to console her son and that made her feel more miserable. Keeping the pain to herself she tightened her heart and walked towards Noah, joining in on the floor.

Reaching her hand she placed it on his head carefully brushing his hair and the next moment she watched him break.

Noah lost the last bit of strength in him and hugged his mother breaking into a howling cry. The pain and hollowness he was feeling and no bounds and he let himself fall vulnerable in front of everyone.

"Mom... do something. She can’t live with me, I can’t live without her mom... Please do something" Noah cried like a child begging his mother to help him bring his Alice back to normal and turn everything back to as it was just an hour ago.

While doctors were busy operating on Alice, Sky rushed to his boss. "Boss, the driver ran away leaving the car behind. It only concludes that someone hired him because the car we found was also a stolen one " his words made both Ashley and Tristan turn speechless.

"What’s going on and what is Sky saying? Car, stolen" Ashley couldn’t understand what was happening.

"I think someone purposely caused the accident, intending to kill Miss Alice" Sky stated.

He checked all the CCTV footage and came to learn that the same car kept following them since the moment they left their home.

There was a long pause after Sky spoke when suddenly Ashley sneered with disgust in her voice.

"Dylan! It must be him" she concluded knowing how he held grudge against Alice for being the reason for his downfall. She was sure it must be him.

Tristan eyed at Sky and watched him shake his head in denial. "Dylan Grey is currently out of country X trying to negotiate with some investors to help him raise the fund for his crumbling business," he said.

Ashley was surprised by his answer. If not Dylan then who it might be, she thought.

"Keep searching and find the man as soon as possible" Tristan ordered and Sky left following his orders.

Alice was attacked and the man who caused it was still unknown. Ashley darted her red eyes and looked at Noah who was crying hysterically in his mother’s embrace.

Finding him broken, her heart clenched in pain. The thought of something wrong happening to her friend made her blood run dry.

Chapter 277: She won’t survive

After finishing the assigned task, the man abandoned the car somewhere in the middle of the road and escaped the place. He then reached the designated location and entered the tall building where Natalie was already waiting for his arrival.

"Is she dead?" Natalie asked as soon as the man stood in front of her.

Her eyes glared at the man and when she saw him lower his head, her anger erupt like a bursting volcano, and she slapped him across his face.

"You f**king loser. I gave you one task and yet you failed " she screamed with no ounce of mercy on the man who shiver down her gaze.

The man, after speeding the car over Alice didn’t get the time to go and check on her as people on the road started to gather and instead of inspecting the outcome, he chose to run.

"S-she won’t survive madam" the man managed to speak even though he was hell-worried about how the lady in front of him will react. He was confident that Alice wouldn’t last because the impact she received was too much for a fragile-looking girl like her. There was no way she would even make it to the hospital.

His words came out like a whisper but it was enough to soothe her burning heart. "W-what did you just say?" she asked authoritatively.

Sensing the calmness in her tone, the man took the courage to raise his head and look at her before answering. "She won’t survive madam. The lady was hit on her head" he said.

The evilness in Natalie’s eyes began to falter." Are you or it’s just a lie you are making up" she questioned.

Natalie just wanted to be sure. Just because he said something she can’t entirely trust his words. She needed proof, only then she would be at ease.

The man was about to use an alibi to sneak out of the situation but stopped when she instead speak up." I want evidence until then you won’t get your money"

The man gape at Natalie in shock and gulped when he watched her eyes again turn deadpan.

Hospital

More than two hours passed and finally, the door of the emergency room opened. Noah stood up in haste and crowded the doctor." How is she?" he asked. His eyes hopefully stare at the doctor.

Noah just wanted his assurance. He wanted to hear him say that his Alice was fine and nothing happened to her but the words the doctor spat out froze Noah’s entire existence.

"We can’t tell anything for now. The patient has suffered a serious head injury and being a doctor I tried my best to stop the bleeding but-" he stopped hesitating for a second.

"But?" it was Tristan this time.

"But we still need to wait for the patient to wake up. If she managed to respond then she is out of danger but if she doesn’t she might slip into a coma and I am not sure how long she will take to wake up again" the doctor didn’t want to keep them in dark.

When they brought Alice to the hospital she had already lost a lot of blood. Her body wasn’t responding but luckily they managed to revive her and even the surgery was successful, but still, the danger was lurking like a moving knife on them. It was now Alice who had to wake up within 48 hours and if she manages to break through the dark, she will be out of danger.

Noah lost his balance and stumbled back. He suddenly felt dizzy. The words came like a bolt shattering him completely.

Everyone was shaken by the doctor’s words.

"I would like to have a word with you" Taylor step ahead and it didn’t take to recognize who the man was.

Getting a meaningful look Taylor excused himself along with the doctor and headed toward his cabin.

Noah stood there like a frozen statue. The words that the doctor said kept replaying in his mind. He felt like standing at the edge of the cliff with Alice standing down there waiting for him.

He knew without her he would be like a corpse surviving the life he was given but won’t live. She had been the only pure happiness he had ever felt in his life and if she was going to leave him then his life had no meaning.

All the precious memories they created started flashing across his mind and with every moment he started feeling helpless. A sad smile appeared on his lips and his stiff body finally moved.

Turning around he watched Alice through the square shape glass window. He couldn’t see her that clearly as the nurses inside kept moving around making it hard for him to even have a glimpse of her but when he did, he saw her peacefully sleeping on that bed.

While his eyes kept scrutinizing her, he felt a hand on his shoulder, lightly squeezing it. Knowing who it could be Noah’s entire demeanor changed in the blink of an eye and he asked," Who did it?"

His deadpan voice shocked Tristan but he quickly composed. "We are still finding" he answered and watched Noah turn around and face Tristan.

While driving to the hospital Noah heard Tristan calling Sky on the way and also asked him to search everything. He wasn’t that dense to ignore the suspicious activity. Now that his brain was stabilized, he could finally think wisely.

His blank eyes were a sign of chaos waiting to burst out once he find the culprit behind Alice’s accident. Clutching his palm into a tight fist Noah pull back his attention at Alice.

Every second felt like an eternity. An entire day passed yet Alice didn’t wake. Sitting on the chair next to her sick bed, Noah clasps her hand in his, as if he was holding a light feather tenderly making sure he wouldn’t hurt her.

"How long do you plan to sleep, Alice" Noah asked. His eyes stared at her pale face with longing.

Today was supposed to be their special day but everything turned upside down at the snap of a finger. Only if he had stopped her, she wouldn’t have been here like this trying to fight for her life.

"I know, I kept saying how beautiful you looked while you sleep and I don’t have the heart to wake you up but Alice... I am scared... scared of you not waking up forever. I am scared that you won’t come back to me. I am scared that I will be left behind all alone" a lone tear rolled down his cheeks and he smiled sadly.

Leaning forward, he kissed her knuckles and rested his face on them. "I don’t want to live without you, Alice. You promised me forever, then how can you leave me alone? Don’t be so cruel Alice. Don’t punish me this way. I promise I won’t tease you ever so please come back to me, babe. I can’t handle this hollowness that is slowly engulfing my heart" Noah wasn’t able to control himself and slowly he burst into crying.

Everyone was aware of his playful side but no one apart from her had witnessed his vulnerability. He would always let his guard fall when it came to her, as it was only she who would calm him down.

His tears fell on her hand as he kept whimpering next to her. He was slowly losing himself and all he wanted was for her to stop him from falling into the abyss. He didn’t know how he was supposed to find his way back if she wasn’t the one waiting for him at the end.

As if his words reached her Alice slowly moved her eyelids and a sigh escaped her mouth.

"Noah"

The name she uttered the moment she regain back her consciousness. Slowly opening her eyes, she tried to adjust her blurry vision and when she did, she found herself in a different place.

She remembered coming out of the coffee shop and heading back towards their car when suddenly her entire self was thrown miles away with her head getting hit on something and the next thing she remembered was falling into a deep slumber.

"Ouch" hissing in pain she tried moving her hand out of Noah’s clasp but failed when he tightened his grip and jolt up looking at her in utter disbelief.

Blinking his eyes several times he cleared his misty vision and gaped at Alice in shock. Her eyes were staring at him as a lone tear rolled down from the corner and that was when the realization struck within.

’She was awake’ he told himself but couldn’t find his voice as it felt like getting stuck inside his throat.

Alice on the other hand was surprised to see Noah in such a messed up state. He looked like he had been crying all this time and that made her heart clench in pain.

She wanted to reach her hand out and cup his face assuring him that she was fine but felt restricted as her muscles felt tight stopping her from even stirring a little.

"N-Noah" she again called his name and this time his stature broke its stiffness and he finally opened his mouth.

"You’re back" his lips broke into a smile and a happy tear escaped from his eyes.

Chapter 279: Merciless act

Stepping out of the shop with a bright smile on her face, her eyes looked at the man who was soon going to be her husband. Her happiness had no boundaries and she wanted to scream to the entire world about her auspicious day.

Standing on the pathway, Alice looked across the road where Noah stood leaning on his car. The charming smile on his face didn’t falter and nor did his eyes ever dart from her even for a second.

Taking a step she tried to reach him when suddenly she was thrown far away and everything turned dark within a second.

"Noah..."Alice screamed in her sleep and snap open her eyes only to find herself on the hospital bed.

’Was it a dream’ she thought as she moved her eyes, trying to calm herself when she heard Noah’s worried voice.

"Alice" the moment he heard Alice scream in her sleep, he jolt from his slumber only to find her breathing heavily on the bed.

Getting up he quickly marched to her bed and cupped her face." What’s wrong? Are you hurting anywhere" her asked as his voice cracked a little.

Noah stared at her baffled face and panicked." I think I should call the doctor" he murmur to himself and pulled back his hand from her face to turn around when Alice stopped him.

"Don’t go" he heard her say and he quickly turned back his attention on her before he pulled the chair and sat next to her bed with their hands interjoin.

Noah watched her lips tremble as she tried to fight back her tears. Her forehead was covered with sweat and it only showed how scared she was.

His heart pained to see her so vulnerable but he didn’t show it on his face. He can’t fall weak because right now she needed him the most.

"I had a dream" Alice suddenly started to speak.

"I-I walked to get to you but-" she paused as tears started to stream down her eyes and that was enough for Noah to assume the other part.

"Shh... it’s okay. It’s all gone, nothing happened to you" Noah stood up and hope into the bed taking her carefully in his embrace.

Alice silently sniffed burying her face into his chest. Noah made sure he was cautious about his movement keeping her surgery in mind. Slowly caressing her back, he tried to soothe her.

He knew it wouldn’t be that easy to forget about the accident and it will take some time but he can’t watch her go through so much emotional trauma that it made him curse himself.

"I will kill that bastard who tried to take your life" he muttered forgetting about his surrounding only to later realize what he just said.

Alice laid still in his embrace for some minutes before she raised her head and looked at him with shock marred all over her face," Someone is after my life, isn’t it?" her eyes eagerly looking at him.

Without saying a word, Noah leaned closer and sealed her lips. It was just a peck but felt like an assurance." I will not let anyone harm you and that’s a promise" his words sounded deep and firm and his eyes burned with determination.

He might have failed to see this coming but now that he knew there is someone who is trying to erase Alice from his life, he won’t be sitting ideally doing anything. It was his time to strike back, he was just waiting for an affirmation.

Kissing her tears away, Noah held her closer to his heart and caressed her to sleep. Once assured he too close his eyes and drifted back to sleep.

On Tristan’s order, Sky assigned a few men to keep a tap on Natalie, and to his surprise, his doubts got confirmed when they found her meeting someone, and that someone was nonother than the driver of the car.

Quickly sending the evidence to Tristan, Sky waited for his next orders. A few minutes later they finally received a call from Tristan who asked them to retreat which quite surprised him, but he didn’t object and followed his command and pulled back his men from that spot.

Natalie on the other hand walked out of a building with the man. Yes she asked him to leave the country but on Avera’s order she changed her plan and now they wanted the man to stay.

They both then hopped into her car and soon left from there. Crossing a few streets her car then entered an abandoned route from where vehicles were forbidden to enter.

"Why did you take this road" the man sitting inside the car panicked when he saw her taking the wrong route and he quickly voiced his thought.

Natalie darted her eyes from the road and looked at the frantic man with a wicked smile on her face.

"This road will take you to your destination," she said and quickly unlocking the seatbelt she swiftly opened the car’s door and jumped out from it with the car still moving at its speed until it reach a dead end and fell off the cliff.

Rolling a few distances away Natalie finally found her stop and looked ahead from where the car fell down taking the man along. Quickly composing herself, she stood up and made a call to Avera informing her about the success of their plan, and quickly left the spot after assuring her that the car had completely crashed.

Unknown to her there was another person who was present at the spot apart from Natalie, it was none other than Jack.

Jack was following Ashley’s order who asked him to keep an eye on Natalie as she too suspect her to be the person behind Alice’s accident. He was shocked to witness the merciless act of the girl.

The unexpected act took him by surprise and before he could do anything the car went down the cliff. Standing at the edge of the cliff he watched the burning car and sighed.

"The girl is way too dangerous than she appears to be. I need to inform about this to lady boss" mumbling to himself, he too retreated.

Chapter 280: Thank you so much

The sun rose as usual but it wasn’t the same morning for both Ashley and Tristan. Both received a piece of shocking news related to Alice that swept away their sleep.

"How can someone be so cruel? Her obsession with Noah would’ve caused Alice’s life " Ashley gnashed her teeth in fury while her palm clutched and unclutched from time to time.

She tried to keep her anger at the bay but as she kept thinking about the supposed to be outcome, she felt her blood boil inside her body.

Tristan wasn’t surprised by Ashley spying on Natalie. He was indeed impressed by how quickly she racked her brain and both of their suspicions turned out to be the same person, Natalie Scott.

The girl was indeed smart, but that smartness did come suddenly as she was being controlled by someone and they were yet to find that person.

"Did you inform Noah about it? " She asked. Her face was void of any emotion.

Tristan bobbed his head and said," He asked me to let him take care of this situation his way. He doesn’t want anyone of us to get involved"

Tristan had disclosed the news about Natalie being the one behind Alice’s accident to Noah. He just wanted his affirmation so he could take care of the rest but when he opposed, asking him to let him handle everything, he didn’t force.

He knew Noah was like that hunter who liked to play with his prey before attacking them. He was the second scariest person after him and his way of tackling his target was different.

Ashley’s glanced at him for some time before she bobbed her head in agreement. "Okay, but" she paused and looked back at him with firm eyes," Tell him not to go easy on her just because she is a woman. The harm she tried to cause my friend isn’t acceptable"

Ashley had no sympathy for Natalie as she didn’t deserve it. She tried to kill Alice and also murdered the man who helped her. How can someone be this evil that she didn’t care about other’s life?

Hospital Ward

Inside the VIP room Noah lay wide awake with his arm firmly wrapped around Alice. His eyes stared blankly at the wall above as he recalled Tristan’s words. His jaws clench in fury when Natalie’s face appeared in front of his eyes making him quickly shut his eyes as he let out a shaky breath.

The thought of Natalie stopping so low never crossed his mind but now that it was confirmed, he couldn’t wait to confront her. But before that, he had to find out who is the person who is secretly helping her.

While his mind was busy racking thinking about who the person could be, he felt Alice stir in her sleep.

"Hmm..." she moaned due to the pain and held her head.

Alarmed by her discomfort, Noah quickly pressed the emergency button next to her bed, and a nurse immediately rushed inside.

Watching Noah sleeping on the same bed as Alice, the nurse halted in her track.

Alice who was now awake noticed the nurse’s embarrassed face and pulled the helm of his shirt moving his attention to her.

"Get down" she slowly whispered next to his ears.

"Huh?" Noah wasn’t able to understand why she was talking so low, but then she pinched the side of his waist and he whine in pain climbing down the bed immediately.

"Stupid" scolding him she then looked at the nurse who passed them an awkward smile.

Standing next to her bed, Noah then adjusted his appearance and cleared his throat. Understanding the situation he then watched the nurse approach them and check on Alice.

"Are you hurting somewhere Miss Alice?" she asked politely and examined her.

"Yes, she is. I want you to call the doctors as fast as possible" Noah answered on Alice’s behalf, startling both of them as they looked at him in confusion.

Alice gnashed her teeth staring at Noah but quickly composed herself and moved her eyes to the nurse.

"No, I am not. It’s just a minor pain nothing else" Alice politely smiled back at the nurse.

"No, she isn’t. She whined in her sleep a while back" Noah cut after hearing her answer. He didn’t want to take any risk when it came to her. She had already suffered a lot and he didn’t want to see her in any pain.

Alice was about to speak when Noah cut it," You just call the doctor. I want him to check her wounds" this time it sounded way more serious making the nurse quickly retreat.

Once she was gone the seriousness in Noah’s aura swift back to gentleness as he stepped ahead and sat next to Alice, staring at her bandage-wrapped head.

"The doctors will come and examine you," he said and watch her roll her eyes.

"What?" he asked.

"You are worrying for nothing Noah. My head pained because I slept on the same side for too long" Alice made him understand and before he could utter a word the doctor stepped in.

Alice could only sigh as she watched Noah climb down again and let the doctor do his job.

After going through a thorough check, the doctor assured Noah that Alice was doing good and there was nothing to worry about.

Once the doctor left Alice motioned Noah to sit by her side. Following her request, Noah sat next to her and heard her say," See, I told you everything is good with me. You worry too much Noah" she said with her lips curling into a smile but it soon dropped when she did hear him back.

Looking down at their hands Noah stayed quiet for some time and then turned to face her. His remorseful eyes bored into her for a while and he opened his mouth to speak," I can’t lose you, Alice. The feeling itself is scary" his voice cracked as he conveyed his deepest fear of losing her.

Alice pursed her lips and reached her hand to cup his cheeks, brushing his face gently using her thumb," I promised I won’t leave you and I mean it"

She wanted to let him know that nothing was ever going to happen anything to her. She had already touched death and returned back and now she doesn’t wish to go through the same moment.

Pursing his lip into a thin line, Noah bobbed his head in agreement and kissed her palm before clasping their hand together.

"And I promise to protect you with all my life" Alice opened her mouth to say something but he stopped her from saying a word by placing his palm on her mouth and shook his head," Let me speak," his earnest eyes asked her to let him finish and she assured him with her eyes.

"I know, you will say it’s not my fault but still if I had been a little more alert about our surroundings, I would’ve stopped the accident from taking place. If I even had the slightest clue that someone was following us, I would’ve captive that person immediately" taking a pause Noah took a deep breath before he looked back into her eyes.

"The person who is after you is none other than Natalie. She planned to kill you" his sudden confession made Alice widen her eyes in shock.

"Natalie" she whispered in disbelief but then everything started to make sense to her and she immediately cursed.

"Damn... she came to learn about our wedding which was why she took such a big step of erasing me out of your life, just so she could have you" Noah bobbed his head ashamed. He was the reason why Natalie targeted Alice. He should’ve seen this coming but he was too lazy to even consider that woman this wicked.

Noah didn’t hide anything from Alice and told her everything Tristan informed him about Natalie.

"We underestimate the girl Noah. She turned out to be more dangerous than we thought her to be" Alice was still absorbing the piece of news Noah disclosed about Natalie.

"What do you plan to do now," she asked. Her eyes anxiously waited for his answer.

"Let’s give her what she wants" moving his fierce gaze Noah let out a vicious smile.

Knight Mansion

Ashley stood in front of the dressing table taking a final glance at her appearance and turned to pick up her handbag when suddenly her head began to spin.

"Ouch" she stumbled on her steps and quickly steadied her steps.

"What’s wrong," Tristan asked dashing at her and help her stand straight.

"I don’t know but-" she couldn’t finish her statement and lost consciousness falling limp into Tristan’s arms.

All she heard was Tristan’s anxious voice as he tried to wake her up but she was too lazy to answer him back.

Ashley was having a peaceful sleep when she felt a ticklish sensation on her stomach and slowly opened her eyes waking up from her deep slumber.

"Tristan" she called and watched him lift his head from her tummy. A pleasant smile took over his lips and he quickly moved up closer to her face and kissed her lovingly.

"Thank you so much"
