Chapter 476: Let you deal with her

The family members gathered for dinner at the dining table. Taking their respective seats, the food was then served.

Everyone was busy talking and laughing except for one person who had his eyes looking at a particular woman who didn’t even spare a glance at him.

Tristan was dying for one look from Ashley but she treated him like he wasn’t present and kept chatting with others.

Sighing at his helplessness, Tristan silently had his food while he kept listening to everyone.

Once they were done having dinner, he excused himself to his study. While the rest headed back to their respective room.

Sitting on his chair, Tristan mindlessly kept turning the pages of the file resting in front of him while his thoughts were busy thinking about Ashley and her silent treatment.

Though he promised himself to give her the space, he couldn’t find himself stopping thinking about her.

"Argh!.. why am I even sitting here like a loser? You aren’t someone who would give up so easily Tristan Knight and it’s about your wife... how can you stay away from her..." Unable to go on like this Tristan slammed his hands on the table and stood up from his seat.

He couldn’t take it anymore. He had to sort things out with Ashley and seek forgiveness. He knew it was foolish of him to keep fighting her and then ask for an apology, but this time, he wouldn’t let his insecurity overshadow his sanity.

Tristan believed in Ashley and he knew she was capable enough to look after herself. All he had to do was support her and protect her silently.

The moment he made up his mind, Tristan was about to return to his room when suddenly his phone rang and his footsteps halted in between.

Staring Riel’s name flashing on the screen, Tristan heaved out a sigh and answered the call.

*****

Ashley was sitting inside her room, silently staring at the door hoping for Tristan to show up. So much time passed and he didn’t return to their room. The longer she waited the more she yearned to see him.

’Did she take it too far’ she thought pondering on her actions.

Though she agreed with her father for not taking the silent treatment too far, she still let her pride take the lead.

"Let’s get over with this" she finally declared and got up from the bed ready to go after Tristan.

Stepping out of the room Ashley reached the study. She didn’t want to prolong the fight knowing Tristan’s concerns were valid. So she decided to talk.

Knocking on the door, she then turned on the knob and walked inside only to be welcomed by pin-drop silent.

"Huh! Where did he go" she mumbled looking around the empty study and quickly retreated.

Once entering the room, she reached for her cell phone and made him a call. As the ring went by Ashley’s heart began to pound inside her chest.

She thought Tristan was purposely ignoring her and the reason why he wasn’t inside his study was because he didn’t want to see her made her anxious. She now regretted her actions and wanted to mend things between them.

"But why isn’t he answering my calls" she frustratingly yelled when the call wasn’t picked.

Meanwhile, Tristan reached the base where Gabriel was waiting for him.

"Can’t you pick the right time before summoning me" Tristan lazily complained before walking towards the man who seemed least bothered by his reaction.

"I found the doctor who treated Sandra" Ignoring his face Gabriel landed straight to the point.

Tristan’s eyes darken at the mention of the doctor they had been trying to find the entire time but no matter how much they tried, his men couldn’t locate her.

Along with her identity even her whereabouts were kept hidden. It was frustrating because they failed to find a single person who could bring them to Sandra but now suddenly they found her and he couldn’t wait to interrogate her as soon as possible.

"But there is one problem" Gabriel’s words made Tristan halt his chain of thoughts and he turned his eyes towards him with a deep crease between his brows.

"What problem? Is she giving a hard time? If so make her spill everything. It’s our only chance to eliminate Sandra from our lives" Tristan’s ruthless side began to surge up.

He didn’t care whether they had to torture the doctor to get information regarding Sandra and her whereabouts. All he wanted was to get back to her and discard her completely.

Gabriel sighed pinching the bridge of his nose. He knew unlike him Tristan would turn impatient once they got a single lead about anything related to Sandra, but whatever he was thinking of doing with the doctor wasn’t a wise way.

They can’t be ruthless with her when she has somewhat managed to escape death.

For now, they only found that it was Bianca who had treated Sandra, but just as clueless as they were, even though she had no idea who those men were and who was the lady she treated back then.

If they had to disclose the truth to her, then it meant she wouldn’t trust them and it was the last thing they wanted right now.

For Gabriel, she was the only hope that would lead them to Sandra, but for letting that happen they had to use their steps wisely. Torturing her would only make her scare them.

"We can’t torture her because she doesn’t know them either" he blurted out.

Don’t know why Gabriel found it odd to think of hurting Bianca. She wasn’t even the culprit instead she was the victim who they wanted to eliminate silently.

If only she had known who the people she was dealing with in the name of humanity were, she wouldn’t have been confused with the things happening to her and as soon she was free from their clutch she wouldn’t have decided to seek cop’s help.

Tristan’s frown deepened when Gabriel refused to agree with him, but then he noticed his meaningful gaze and decided to look through his thoughts.

"Then I will let you deal with her but make sure you won’t prolong it for too long"

Chapter 477: Sorted

Sitting on the bed, Ashley once again looked at the time. It had been an hour since Tristan was gone. She did receive a text from him informing her about his sudden meeting with Gabriel yet she didn’t stop waiting for him.

Heaving out a sigh, she climbed down from the bed and walked onto the balcony when she heard the sound of a car entering the Mansion gates.

A sense of relief crossed her eyes and she walked back into the room ready to open the door for him.

She was too quick to reach the door of their room and opened it only to find Tristan making his way upstairs.

The moment he climbed the last step, he stopped and their eyes met. Tristan’s heart pounded inside his chest and he wondered if she was still waiting for him.

He had long given the thought of giving her space. He couldn’t bear the distance she tried to put since morning. It was too much for him to handle.

How can he stay away from her... No way in the world he would survive without her presence.

As those unsaid thoughts lingered in his mind, Tristan’s legs began to move on their own as he approached his wife standing by their bedroom door.

The way her eyes silently stared at him Tristan couldn’t hold the urge to grab her chin and kiss her endlessly.

Ashley gasped when Tristan stopped in front of her. All her worries flew out of the window and a sense of relief crossed her heart.

"Why are you still awake? You must be tired because of continuous shooting" Stopping himself from acting recklessly, Tristan held back his urge to kiss her.

An entire day passed without him hearing anything from her or seeing her and the moment he saw a glimpse of her beautiful face, Tristan hesitated.

When did he start to feel so cautious around her, he thought? But knowing how he messed up the other night spoiling their beautiful moment, Tristan felt it was better if he kept himself to the limit.

Ashley noticed the restriction in his actions and suddenly she remembered the silent treatment.

Ashley wasn’t a cold-hearted person when it came to Tristan, but his actions lately had started to bother her. If it hadn’t gone beyond her limitation she wouldn’t have forgiven him way earlier than this.

Staring at him without uttering a word Ashley tried to access his emotions and suddenly felt a pinch in her heart. She was expecting a kiss from him but found him resisting.

Instead, he questioned her for waiting for him.

’Wasn’t he happy that I am no longer angry with him’

Ashley’s brows furrowed when he acted like he wasn’t expecting her to wait for him.

"I was waiting for you. You left without a word and texted long after I called you" She was hurt but still managed to keep her composure.

Tristan pursed his lips into a thin line and bobbed his head. "I am sorry. I thought you wouldn’t look for me, so I left without informing"

Ashley gave him a disappointed look and turned around. "Get in, I am sleepy" With the coldness in her tone, she walked further into the room.

Tristan on the other hand silently followed her.

’Did I upset her again’ he wondered.

Tristan found it difficult to understand how he was supposed to improve her mood towards him. Their relationship wasn’t this difficult, but lately, because of his insecurities, he started finding it hard to behave in front of her.

As he followed her, suddenly Ashley stopped and turned around to face him and asked," Did you call Dad today?"

Ashley wanted to keep the conversation going between them. She wanted to eliminate the awkwardness because now it was getting too much for her to handle.

Stopping right behind her Tristan looked at her with bafflement. Scratching the back of his head awkwardly, he then gave her an answering nod.

"I just wanted to check on him. He is been traveling for quite some time now"

"Then what about others you called after that? They weren’t traveling. Not that you don’t see them every day" she continued crossing her hands, while her eyes kept looking at him intently.

Ashley mentally smirked when his face changed from embarrassed to shocked. She so wanted to keep pulling his leg, letting him realize how childishly he acted, just because he was missing her and wasn’t able to fathom the courage to talk with her by himself.

Did he take her for stupid?

She now understood what he was trying to do by keeping away from her. He was trying to give her space. He thought maybe being around her would suffocate her, but she wanted to stay away from him either way.

Tristan watched her smirked and just like getting struck by a thunderbolt, the mountain of embarrassment made him hide his face in shame.

He just wanted to pass his time trying to forget about their fight and ended up calling everyone, including his parents and sister whom he just met at the breakfast table this morning.

As if losing his voice in shame, Tristan immediately looked away and scratched his forehead.

"I... I was just concerned for them" he tried to justify his actions but stuttered helplessly.

Tristan realized how much of a fool he was and now he had no face to face his wife.

Watching him behave oddly as he tried to hide his embarrassment, Ashley let out a chuckle. She covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing wholeheartedly but she also knew it would be disrespectful for Tristan.

She didn’t want to take advantage of his helplessness but he was too cute to resist. He would make mistakes and to mend them he would end up doing things that melted her heart.

After a heartfelt laughter, she finally stopped and walked toward Tristan whose back was now facing her. He didn’t dare to look at her and kept hiding his bewilderment.

Reaching out her hand she clasped his shoulder and made him look at her. Her eyes grew wide when she noticed the blush on his cheeks and how he had been lowering his gaze in shyness in front of her.

"You know everyone was surprised by your gesture and your words did give them a benefit of the doubt that we fought" She stated the truth but in a gentle way.

Tristan stood there with his head down when suddenly Ashley made him look up placing her hand under his chin and smiled.

"You are really bad at pretending Tristan. You thought that by staying away from me, you would manage to give me space. Can you even survive yourself" she asked slowly wrapping her arms around his waist and took a step closer.

"But I was wrong and you not wanting to see was justified" Tristan finally pondered realizing his mistake. Yes, he was overprotective of her and would end up hurting her with his possessiveness, but he never wanted to stop her from doing what she liked or urged her to do.

Ashley couldn’t resist the cuteness on his face and leaned forward before pecking his lips. "So what did you conclude? Were you right or not?" she asked even though she knew what he was about to say.

He had said it many times for now...still, she wanted to hear him again.

Tristan looked at her smiling face and sighed before snaking his arms around her and said, "I won’t stop you from doing anything, but I also won’t stop myself from being over-protective. I love you and watching you getting hurt rips my heart"

His words swayed her resolve and she understood his fears even more deeply. She knew this nature of his was never going to change. He was born that way, so she decided to let him do as he wished without misunderstanding his actions anymore.

"But you can’t keep on complaining now and then, your reaction scares me" she responded with a pout only to get laughed at by Tristan in return.

"You!... scared of me, no way" his reaction made Ashley frown and she slapped his arm in return.

"You do scare me at times. It’s unpredictable to guess how you would react. You look scary"

Chapter 478: Going to meet soon

While in one room the couple was busy sorting their difference, there was another one where the husband was busy complaining over his wife’s remark of being called useless in front of their children.

"Will you stop whining like a child? You are too old to be called one" Grace looked through the mirror in front of the dressing table while she kept applying moisturizer on her hands.

Ever since she was termed in the category of being useless Trevor felt like he had been underestimated by his wife. He might be the number one in business but when it came to dealing with emotions and stuff, Tristan had inherited all his father’s qualities.

Rather than stopping from letting their emotions take over their sensible mind, they would keep on arguing and proving their point by labeling it as protectiveness whereas, they were just insecure about themselves but were too proud to admit it.

Glaring at his wife, Trevor sniffed back his tears and looked away. He wasn’t hurt by Grace’s words because he knew she was right. It was just that after getting scolded, he needed some pampering but his beloved wife was getting stressed over her elder son.

’Such a useless brat. Can even ponder over my advice’ he scolded mentally before climbing down the bed and approaching his wife.

Grace sat there spacing out, when she suddenly felt Trevor’s hands on her shoulder, lightly squeezing them, and her thoughts broke.

"You should stop thinking so much. Your son is capable enough to sort out his own problem. How about you pay attention to your upset husband" he said making a pouty face that only made Grace twitch her lips.

’Here we go again. This old man is back again acting like a teenager’ Rolling her eyes Grace heaved out a sigh and forced a smile before turning around and getting up from her seat.

"You want me to pay attention to you," she asked reaching her hand toward his face.

Slowly tracing her fingers from his hair she then grabbed his ears and pinched it firmly.

"Is this much attention enough Mr. Knight, or do you want more?" she asked letting go of his ear that had now turned crimson red.

"Ah...Grace" Whining in pain Trevor rubbed his ear and looked at his wife in shock, but didn’t utter a word.

"How can you say that I shouldn’t stress over my elder son? He is acting like a possessive husband restricting his wife from even lifting her finger on her own and here you want me to pamper you" she yelled making Trevor flinch.

Trevor knew he ruined Grace’s mood further. Instead of trying to divert her mind, he should’ve just slept. But he was too greedy for his wife’s attention who had been neglecting him since morning.

Trevor was just a jealous husband just like his son and wanted all of his wife’s attention if she started neglecting him, he would use different ways to get her attention. But guess this time he didn’t see the depth of her concern.

Ignoring her dagger-like eyes Trevor composed himself and asked," Do you w-want me to talk with him"

"And what will you talk about? I am sure he won’t learn from you. It’s better if I talk with him instead" saying she quickly turned to leave but Trevor stopped her.

"It’s too late for you to barge into their honey. Look at the time, It’s almost midnight" his words halted her steps and she looked at the clock.

Closing her eyes she heaved out a breath and with a sloppy dropped shoulder walked to her bed.

Eyeing her defeated look Trevor too joined his wife on the bed and patted her head lovingly.

"You should talk with him tomorrow. I am sure by the time you wake up the couple will be back to being loving and happy"

Trevor might not be good with words but he knew his son wasn’t someone who would keep his wife upset for too long.

Turning her head to look at Trevor, Grace gave him a light nod, hoping whatever he said turned out to be true.

"I hope so," she said and watched him embrace her in his arms before they slowly lay down on the bed.

Grace might never say it out loud, but Trevor was the only person who could annoy her but also at the same time comfort her and no matter how upset she would get still she would find solace in him.

*****

That night the couple sorted their fights and slept in each other arms. Tristan even informed her of the purpose behind meeting Gabriel.

After a thorough observation even Ashley agreed to Tristan’s decision of letting Gabriel deal with the doctor. She could feel the fear she must’ve gone through after getting abducted by them and she was glad that Gabriel handled the situation wisely.

"Why are you awake so early?" Tristan’s sleepy voice came from the side, grabbing Ashley’s attention and she quickly turned to look at him.

The man snuggled closer to her with his arms caging her further into his embrace. It was still early for them to wake up but when he saw her pondering deep into her thought, he quickly broke her trace.

Smiling at his cute pouty face Ashley cupped his cheeks and caressed them with her thumb.

"It isn’t early. It’s almost seven in the morning. Usually, people wake up at this hour" she said and watched the man shake his head.

"It’s for them not for us. I want to sleep with you more" he said making her smile even more.

As they kept lying in each other’s arms Ashley felt Tristan’s hand moving downwards to her panties.

"Tristan.. you" she gasped with the sudden gesture but it was too late as he already shoved his palm inside with his middle finger caressing her petals gently.

Slowly opening his eyes, Tristan watched her lips part in anticipation. The sight of her lustrous face excited him and his finger started moving roughly.

Ever since the doctor assured him that Ashley had completely healed, Tristan started getting more greedy for her.

"Should we go for one round before leaving for work?" he asked in between his stroking.

Ashley’s chest heaved at his actions and she bit her lower lips before humming in response.

Her days were incomplete without his kisses and touch and yesterday was another torture for them as they both acted stubbornly. She regretted going too far but now that they were back to normal, she couldn’t wait to get knocked by him.

With his fingers continuing to do his job down there, satisfying her, Ashley soon reached her climax.

Pulling his hand Tristan then pulled down her panties, tossing them away down the bed. Removing his boxers, he then positioned between her legs and with one quick move thrust his dick into her opening.

Along with the movement of their rocking bodies, the clasping of the flesh echoed inside the room and soon both reached their limits, reaching their climax simultaneously.

Enthralled by their activity, Tristan then laid back next to her, with his palm resting on her stomach.

"I can’t wait to get you pregnant again-" his words made Ashley open her eyes while her unsteady breath slowly calmed down and she turned to look at him.

"But this time not with one instead two" he declared with his determined gaze.

After losing their first child in the hands of Sandra’s cruelty, Tristan was determined to hunt her down even from hell and punish her more cruelly than she could ever imagine.

It would be his revenge in exchange for his child’s life. The void of losing their child had never disappeared from their heart. It was engraved deeply into his soul and the pain would only subside only when he would punish Sandra.

Now that they had found the lead, he couldn’t wait for her to show up and so as the person who was secretly helping her.

Once calmed, Ashley simply smiled at him. As much as he wanted to have kids again, Ashley too couldn’t wait to conceive one. But this time she wanted to have a child only after Sandra was nowhere present in their life.

’So brace yourself, Sandra, because we are going to meet soon’

Chapter 479: Linda’s lies

"What the hell are we doing here early morning" a frustrated voice came from Gwen’s side.

Rolling her eyes in annoyance, she turned to look at Gavin who peeked through her side and looked at the entrance of the hospital.

"Just keep quiet and let me focus"

Pursing his lips into a thin line Gavin leaned back on his seat and followed her line of sight.

It wasn’t a surprise to find her standing in front of his door early morning, as she was habitual of disturbing him. But what caught him off-guard was that she dragged him along without a word and drove him to the hospital, where they had been waiting for around twenty minutes now.

"Ah... there she is. Gavin, come let’s follow her" Gwen squealed all of a sudden, startling him, and jumped out of the car the next instant.

Gavin shook his head in disbelief and followed her silently.

As they sprinted towards the hospital entrance, Gavin kept asking Gwen about the person they were following.

"Who is she and why are we following her?" Gavin whispered patting Gwen’s shoulder.

Eyeing Linda’s elegant figure stepping into the hospital, Gwen sneered," Didn’t I mention to you about women having an eye on my man? It’s her" Her eyes darkened when Linda entered the elevator and she quickly hid behind the pillar.

Gavin frowned staring at Linda. The second his eyes fell on her, he couldn’t get a positive vibe from her.

"It’s she Charles Acme’s granddaughter who is soon going to take over the company as the new CEO," he asked and watching her nod in response.

"But what is she doing here in the hospital" he asked.

Staring at him for a second, Gwen took a deep breath and told him everything that happened in her life in his absence.

Gavin’s face darkened listening to the vicious plan Linda carried on them along with Ryan and now she even ditched the father of her child because he wasn’t of any use for her.

"I am sure she is here for her monthly check-up and it’s also the only way for us to get her blood reports" Gwen suggested and without any hesitation, Gavin agreed to her.

"So what’s my role" he said with a meaningful gaze and watched her curl the corner of her lips evilly.

DING!

Stepping out of the elevator, Linda walked through the corridor, heading to the doctor’s cabin.

The moment she entered the cabin, Linda was welcomed by an empty room. Her brows knitted when she didn’t see the doctor anywhere when she had informed about her arrival through a phone call, the moment she reached the hospital.

"Where is she" she mumbled pulling back the phone and immediately dialing the doctor’s number once again.

As soon as the bell inside her phone rang, the door of the cabin flung open, almost making Linda jump on her spot.

"Ah!... you scared me," she said looking at the female doctor who just stepped inside in a hurry.

Doctor Layla, Linda’s gynecologist looked at her in fear but soon masked it before forcing a smile in return.

"I-I am sorry for making you wait. Please have a seat Miss Linda" the lady politely motioned Linda to the chair as she walked towards her seat.

Linda noticed the change in her behavior and frowned.

"Never mind. I just came now" Linda brushed off her words lightly and pulled the chair in front of her table and sat down.

Linda’s body was still recuperating from the loss of her child. It was a sudden miscarriage and her body had suffered a little. She still had to take some medication to bring herself back to being healthy.

This was the second time she came to visit her but now that she observed the doctor she found her strange.

’She said she was in her cabin, then how come she entered from out’ Linda thought.

Leyla cleared her throat and wiped off the sweat bud from her forehead and looked at Linda.

She had been trying to act normal in front of her, but deep down she was scared.

"Let’s check your recovery" Leyla finally spoke and watched Linda give her a nod.

Inside her cabin was another room. Stepping inside Linda then noticed a nurse who was already present before their arrival.

Moving her eyes from her, she then looked at the doctor and asked," I told you I don’t want anyone" She sounded annoyed when she noticed another person apart from them.

Linda had been very cautious and she didn’t want anyone to come to learn about her. The doctor was the only one she could trust.

Leyla looked at the nurse and then at Linda and said nervously," Don’t worry, she is harmless" her voice cracked a little but she managed to stand firm to her ground.

Linda’s frown deepened as she stared at Leyla in anger but she chose to keep quiet and didn’t raise her voice.

Trying to hold herself, she followed Leyla’s instructions and soon she started examining her.

*****

Meanwhile, inside the car, Gavin waited for Gwen’s return. After managing to threaten the doctor, he was able to get Gwen inside her cabin disguised as one of the nurses.

Gwen wanted to gather as much proof against Linda and impersonating one of them was the only way.

"Why the hell it’s taking them so long" he muttered looking at the hospital’s entrance.

His eyes squinted when he saw a familiar figure leaving the place and soon Gwen stepped out too.

The way she made her way towards the car, Gavin noticed something wasn’t right.

Thud!

Slamming the car’s door shut, Gwen cursed her lungs out.

"That Bitch... How did she lie to us" There was a tinge of hatred in her tone that even flinched Gavin in his seat.

He had never seen Gwen so angry before but now the scene of her enraged eyes and flaring nose gave him an impression that she came to find something that made her lose her cool.

It was then his eyes fell on the phone and the reports she had been clutching in her hands.

Snatching them away, he then went through the file and his eyes popped out from his socket in shock.

"She had a miscarriage" his voice echoed inside the silent car while he kept moving his head back and forth from the file and Gwen.

Gwen’s face burned in rage. She couldn’t believe they were deceived by Linda once again. She suffered a miscarriage a few days back and instead of letting anyone know about it, she continued playing everyone.

’Does Ryan know about it’ the thought crossed her mind but she soon brushed it off concluding why Linda suddenly ended her relationship with him.

As she kept looking ahead dreadfulness took over her mind and after a long pause, she opened her mouth to speak.

"Drive me somewhere. I’ll let you know the location on the way"

Gavin looked at her side profile before agreeing to her request and soon started the car driving out from the hospital gates.

Chapter 480: It’s time

Meanwhile, Linda who had driven back home after her check-up was happy with the result. She had fully recovered and was back to being healthy.

Tossing aside her handbag, she slumped on the bed with arms stretched wide on either side while the smile on her face never faded.

The thoughts of her marrying Karl and spending passionate nights on their bed made Linda giddy.

She had always wondered how energetic Karl would be in bed.

’Was he better than Ryan? Would he be able to satisfy her sex drive? Will she be able to bear his child before the time’ many thoughts crossed her mind

With the shine in her eyes dimming the next moment Linda forced herself up in the sitting position and frowned.

"I have to get pregnant before our marriage" she snapped at her words looking eager.

If it was before, she would’ve carried the same plan of marrying Karl and then dumping him after getting the shares, but now that everything changed, she longer wanted to ditch him.

The fondness she hid all these years for Karl began to resurface when her relationship with Ryan began to crumble. If he hadn’t let his insecurities control his mind, she wouldn’t have lost her baby and would’ve also accepted him back, but not anymore.

She had lost interest in him and now she only wanted Karl.

As her mind began to wander, she came up with many ideas of alluring Karl and making him submit to her but then all her thoughts broke when she realized Karl didn’t love her at all and was only with her because of the child in her womb.

"Argh! Do I have to spike his drink once again to knock me down" she yelped irritatingly.

Linda didn’t care whether Karl loved her or not but now that they soon going to get married, she started desiring more.

Her face darkened when Gwen’s thought crossed her mind and she balled her palm into a tight fist.

"How did she manage to make him fall head over heels for her? She is not even worthy of him" Linda declared with a cold expression but didn’t give up the thought of seducing Karl.

Whether forcefully or not she had to get him in bed with her and impregnate herself for real this time. She had very less time so she decided to be quick with her plan.

Shoving out the phone from her handbag she then called Karl.

Linda had already started getting comfortable around and now that they were going to get married within a month she couldn’t hide her excitement to talk with him.

"Hello" his voice took her breath away but she soon composed herself and answered.

"I went for my regular check-up Our baby is doing good but he missed his father by his side" she lied, playing with Karl’s emotions.

The real purpose why Karl was good to her was because of the child, so whenever she wanted to talk or meet with Karl she brought up the baby’s topic. In that, Karl was never able to ignore her and paid attention to her carefully.

But little did she know, Karl was only tolerating her tactics because he had his motives.

As she kept smiling foolishly at her words, Linda realized Karl hadn’t answered her back and it was then her smile faltered.

Titling her head confusingly she called out his name," Karl, are you there?" her voice was as gently as ever but to her surprise, no one answered her.

Linda thought something was wrong and she was about to pull her phone back just to see whether the call was still on or she was just talking to herself when suddenly Karl’s calm yet stern voice came from the other end.

"Did he miss his father so much" Linda froze for a moment went she sensed the distance in his tone but she quickly brushed off the fleeting feeling and smiled.

"Yes, it missed his father, but don’t worry I told him that soon you would be with us always. Am I right Karl" she asked with a tinge of hesitation in her voice.

Linda might be happy that Karl was soon going to be hers, yet she couldn’t bring herself to ask if he was happy.

Though she didn’t care whether or not he was wholeheartedly happy as long as she had him, still her greedy heart wanted to hear from more.

There was again a pause from his side but soon she heard him hum in return and she flashed her teeth in victory.

Linda was about to say something to keep the conversation going when she heard Karl say.

"I am sorry Linda, I need to end the call. I am in the middle of some work" Linda’s smiling face still but she quickly agreed to his request and ended the call the next instant.

As soon as the call ended, Karl clenched his jaw firmly and looked at his cell phone screen with a murderous look in his eyes.

Deafening silence engulfed the room with two pairs of eyes staring his way and watching him breathe heavily.

Gwen and Gavin drove to his apartment after leaving the hospital. There was no way she could wait for Karl to know how badly Linda had been fooling them.

Not only did she miscarry her child, but she even cut all her ties with Ryan and the reason why he was drowning himself in alcohol was because Linda didn’t want him anymore in his life.

Their assumption about their crumbling relationship was right but this new discovery left them speechless.

"I have seen someone so persistent. She isn’t flinching to lie right in our faces" Gavin was the one who broke the silence.

He had heard everything Linda said since Karl kept the phone on speaker for everyone to hear. He couldn’t believe how desperate she was to have Karl’s attention that she didn’t leave to use her dead child as a weapon.

While he kept cursing her, Karl and Gwen didn’t utter a word. As if they were busy pondering their thoughts suddenly Karl stood up from his seat startling the two.

"It’s time," he said with extremely coldness in his voice and walk away from there.
