Coolest Girl in Town Chapter 1041-"What about the baby? Is he hurt?" Alexia craned her neck ahead and looked at Elise's belly nervously.

Elise placed her hand on her belly and shook her head, smiling. "He's fine, don't worry."

Just then, someone knocked on the window.

Rylantha was standing outside, a big, dumb grin curling her lips. "Oh, my. It's you. Oops, sorry that I took your spot. Didn't know it was you, Anastasia. I didn't mean to do it."

Elise shot her an icy look. Didn't mean to do it, huh? I was halfway in the spot, and you still took it anyway. Didn't mean it, my foot!

Raymond had been following Elise all the way. Noticing Rylantha's attempt to start a fight, he got out of the car and argued, "Don't you think that's a bit rude, Miss Abbott?"

"Shut it, cur. Your master hasn't even spoken yet. Know your place. I got the spot because I have the skills. Besides, haven't you heard of 'you snooze, you lose?'" Rylantha saw Raymond back at the beach. She knew he was Alexander's underling, and she would afford a servant no respect.

Raymond's face darkened slightly. He then looked at Elise respectfully, asking her what to do. Initially, Elise hadn't wanted to make a scene since they were here for fun. However, Rylantha almost hurt Irvin and Alexia, and now she was talking to Raymond like he was a slave. If she took this quietly, she would be nothing but a coward. So, Elise changed her position and rested her elbow on the window, cupping her chin in her hand. "Didn't you hear her, Raymond? The spot belongs to anyone powerful enough to take it."

The man stared at her in confusion for a while before a sudden realization struck him. He straightened his back and darted over to Rylantha. Then, he pulled his sleeves up and showed his muscles.

"W-What do you want?" In the face of someone of Raymond's size, Rylantha shrank on instinct.

Maverick got out of the car just in time to see this confrontation and quickly pulled Rylantha into his arms. Angrily, he berated, "I can't believe Alexander's underlings would go after a woman!" Come at me if you're a man. Or that was what Maverick would have said had Raymond not looked like he could crush Maverick in a moment. Ultimately, Maverick kept his mouth shut.

Raymond rolled his eyes and ignored them. He approached the convertible and leaned over to place both hands on the hood. He crouched a little and pushed the car back inch by inch, forcing it to leave the parking spot.

Rylantha and Maverick stared in shock. They were sure the handbrake was pulled up, yet Raymond was pushing the car easily all by himself. And to their horror, Raymond shoved the vehicle over the safety rail. It dropped down the cliff like a rock and crashed into a pile of boulders. Then, a deafening boom pierced the air—the car had exploded!

Rylantha shivered and snapped out of it. Furious, she roared at Elise, "Are you mad, Anastasia?! That's a six-figure limited edition! It's just one parking spot! That was overkill!"

"Like I care." Elise revved her car up without looking at Rylantha. "Besides, you said the spot belongs to anyone good enough to take it. Bill the receipt for your repairs to my husband. He'll pay for it." She turned the steering wheel and easily took up the spot Rylantha's car was in a moment ago. Then, she and her kids got out of the car and made their way to the hotel while holding hands.

"You are not leaving! Not after you ruined my car! Hold it right there!"

Rylantha wanted to argue further, but Raymond stopped her before she could do anything. "Watch your tongue, Miss Abbott."

She was about to scream at Raymond, but Maverick tugged on her clothes, telling her to calm down. She looked at him, then at Raymond. When met with Raymond's fearsome gaze, she had no choice but to give in. Raymond stayed for a few moments to confirm that they wouldn't pose any more threat before he left.

It could be said that Camren's status in Wegas was on par with Alexander's in Cittadel. All Elise had to do was say his name, and they were served with the best service. They got three presidential suites on the second floor.

Jamie and Narissa took Room 202, Elise and the kids took Room 204, and Danny and Ariel took Room 206, which was located further in the corridor.

Maverick and Rylantha stayed in Room 205, which was just across from Elise's room. Already annoyed by everything, Rylantha flew into a rage the moment she entered the room. "Of all the rooms available here, you just have to pick the one in front of that b*tch. Do you still want her back? Do you—"

Frustrated by her incessant rambling, Maverick shut her up with a kiss. Eventually, Rylantha's breathing got heavier, and her mind was blank. All the frustrations she felt were tossed out the window. They then went at it for hours. Only when night had descended that Rylantha had finally fallen asleep, satisfied.

Maverick looked at the sleeping woman as he massaged his lower back. It's sore. Damn, she's getting needier the more she ages. It's like she's insatiable. I need my meds and supplements. If I can't satisfy her, I might lose all my money and have to kiss the Abbotts' wealth goodbye.

He wouldn't have to rely on Rylantha for anything. However, after Danny stripped him bare and tossed him onto the streets, his luck took a turn for the worse. Not only did the people in his line of work laugh at him, but his investors pulled out due to embarrassment as well. His future was doomed. If he weren't smart enough to take Ariel's clue and hook up with Rylantha, his partners would have deserted him as well, leaving him with nothing. This is all Danny's fault. I will make him pay!

He was wondering how he could bring Danny down when the boss of this resort told everyone that Camren's son-in-law was staying for the night, all so he could ingratiate himself into Camren's circle. God hasn't forsaken me just yet. This is the perfect chance. So, Maverick convinced Rylantha to come with him. He told her this trip would spice up their relationship, but in reality, he was laying a trap for Danny. A big trap.

Just then, his phone rang. It was a message from an unknown number. 'Everything's ready.'

Maverick took a glance and turned his phone off. He got out of bed quietly and made his way to the reception hall.

Alicia and Suella happened to be checking in at that time.

Checking in at a new expensive resort was part of a socialite's life. Suella was just a pseudo-socialite and could only come because of Alicia. She dragged Alicia here the moment the news about the meteor shower made its rounds. Alicia was working with the manager to check themselves in while Suella lugged her suitcase around and styled herself up. She was acting more like a socialite than Alicia was.

Coolest Girl in Town Chapter 1042--Even though Suella was trying her best to gain attention, Danny still spotted Alicia first when he came to the reception hall. Well, she did help me out. Might as well say hi. "Hey, Miss Heidelberg. Here for the meteor shower, too?"

Alicia turned around. Oh, it's him. She smiled. "Yeah. I'm here with a friend. Wonder if we'd be lucky enough to see it."

"I bet you will be lucky enough." Danny smiled in return. "Speaking of which, I haven't thanked you for your help. I'll be sure to treat you next time."

"Oh, it's alright. I didn't do much, anyway." She wasn't expecting any reward.

"Please, I insist. I'll do it. We're friends now. Just call me when you need anything."

Oh, this is a nice guy. Suella took her glasses off. She wanted to say hi to Danny but was too proud to do so. Thus, she fidgeted around and waited for Danny to talk to her first.

However, the man only spared her a glance before saying, "I can see you're busy. I'll leave you to it now." With that, he left.

Right that instant, Suella's face fell, and she crossed her arms in annoyance. "Who's that?" she snapped. "I was standing right here, yet he didn't even say hi to me. Bloody no manners."

"But he doesn't even know you're my friend." Alicia looked at her in disbelief. She didn't expect Suella to say that, but still, she explained, "That's Jamie's friend. He's an investor if my memory serves me right. I have not a clue on what he invests in, though."

Jamie's friend? So, he must be rich, then. Thank you, God, for sending me a man like him. I'm taking it. Suella replaced her annoyance with delight as she asked, "What's his name?"

"Danny Griffith," answered Alicia impatiently. Just then, the manager handed her their key card. She took it and made her way to the elevator with her suitcase in tow.

Hmm, I can leave her here alone for a moment. With that thought in mind, Suella made her way to the entrance. "You go ahead. I left something in the car. I'll be right back."

Danny took a carton of expensive mineral water from the trunk and slammed the door shut with his leg. He then made his way back to the resort. The resort's water might be bad due to the place being newly opened. Ariel didn't want to drink it, much less use it in her skincare routine. She told Danny to get them some mineral water. It was expensive, but compared to Ariel's skin, it was nothing.

Suella stood at the parking lot's entrance. When she saw Danny heading her way, she quickly stopped in her tracks and straightened her clothes out. Imitating Alicia, she held her hands before her, pretending to be a polite lady. Then, she turned around and practiced her smile, trying to see which smile would show her looks perfectly. Then, I'll seduce him when he passes me by. When Danny finally got closer to her, she turned around sheepishly. Just when she was about to say hi, she saw a car charging straight at the man from behind. "Look out!" She covered her mouth and pointed behind him.

Noticing a car speeding up to him, Danny stood firm and darted into the group of cars in the parking lot. Thankfully, he managed to dodge the car, and it whizzed past him harmlessly.

Just when Suella and Danny thought it was over, the car swiveled around and charged straight at Suella.

Fear seized Suella's heart, and she let out a scream. Yet, she couldn't move. It felt like her legs were filled with lead. The car was very close to crashing into her, and she closed her eyes as if surrendering to her fate.

Seeing the dangerous situation, Danny placed the mineral water on the ground carefully and ran over to Suella. If that car crashes into her, she will be badly injured, at the very least. Despite his efforts, he couldn't outrun the car. He could only watch as the vehicle approached Suella at high speed, and he slowed down his pace in despair. Just when both of them thought it was over, the car turned directions at the very last second and only ran over Suella's foot. Then, it left the parking area. Baffled, Danny thought, They left just like that? After that big show? For what?

A gust of wind blew across Suella's cheeks, and she realized she was still alive. When she opened her eyes, the first thing she felt was a searing pain coming from her foot. She fell and held both her feet, howling in pain. Feels like my bones are crushed. Tears of pain streamed down her cheeks.

"Are you okay?" Danny ran over to check on her.

The woman seized the chance to put on a victim act. She looked at him with tearful eyes, and with an almost sickeningly cute voice, she said, "Ouchie. I can't walk anymore."

Danny shuddered upon hearing her voice and could feel goosebumps spreading all over his body. Back when he saw this woman in the reception hall, he knew she wasn't any good woman. And now that he heard her speak, that feeling grew even stronger. Still, he wouldn't leave her just like that since she had saved his life. "I'll take you back." He held her up with one arm, and then he remembered something. Quickly, he let her go and ran away. When he came back, he was holding a carton of mineral water, wiping the carton carefully. Can't forget about honey's stuff.

Suella frowned at that sight. Does he think those bottles of water are more important than me? However, she didn't show her displeasure. Not when she could finally get closer to Danny.

Maverick was hiding in the shadows. He left soon after with a smirk curling his lips.

A great staircase stood before the entrance. Danny led Suella there to get some rest. He then asked for her room number. "I will take you to your room right now and get you a doctor afterward."

"H-Honestly, I'm not sure. A-Alicia checked us in," stammered Suella in an attempt to play dumb. She wanted to be alone in a room with Danny. If they went to her room, Alicia would get in the way.

"I see. Not to worry. I know the manager here, so I can just ask him." Danny wasn't going to take her to the hospital. His wife was waiting for him, and he wanted to see the meteor shower with her. He then dragged Suella up the stairs. Even though he was carrying a box of mineral water with one hand while holding the injured woman up with the other, he was strong enough to walk firmly.

Once they ascended the staircase, Suella yelped and fell backward. She was sure Danny would wrap his arm around her waist to stop her fall. And once they got closer, she would put on a pouty face and hint at him to take her to his room. She figured no man would ever resist a coy beauty like herself, including Danny.

As expected, she felt someone grab her by the waist and pull her back up. Then, she felt herself falling into a warm embrace. A smile curled her lips. She opened her eyes, expecting to see Danny looking at her with love in his eyes. However, the first thing she saw was the face of a beautiful woman. Excuse me, who the hell are you?! Shocked, Suella almost leaped away, but she clenched her fists and held back the urge to do so. I can't let Danny know I'm not that hurt.

"You're here, honey!" Danny's earlier scowl was immediately replaced by a big grin.

Suella was miffed. Why is it that every time I tried to woo a guy, some other girl would steal them away from me?

As if it's not embarrassing enough to seduce a married man, the guy's wife even caught me in the act. If I wake up now, she's going to kill me. I better pretend I'm still unconscious. However, Suella was not cut out for acting. Her eyes were still rolling around behind her eyelids, but someone who had blacked out wouldn't have that kind of reaction.

A smirk curled Ariel's lips. She knew Suella was acting, but she said nothing about it. Instead, she asked, "What's with you and her?"

"Nothing. I don't know her." Danny raised his hand and swore, "I almost got run over. She warned me about it, and the car ran her feet over instead, so I took her back. I swear I'm loyal to you, honey. My heart can contain no one else but you." Ever since Rylantha set him up, Danny guarded his chastity closely. It was why he stayed away from Suella from the moment he saw her.

Suella was incensed. What?! Do you think you're the victim here? You should feel proud you can have a scandal with me!

"I trust you." Ariel smirked. "Even if you were to cheat on me, you'd pick someone with better looks or curves."

Danny froze and shrugged in confusion while Suella was infuriated. Is she implying I'm ugly and not hot? Suella gritted her teeth and clenched her fists. Her nails were already digging into her flesh. Damn this woman!

Before she could calm down, Ariel said devilishly, "I think she's hurt inside. Perhaps a concussion. We should arrange a craniotomy for her in case her situation worsens."

Hearing her words, Danny finally realized she was merely kidding. He held his laughter in and went along with his wife. "But that's dangerous. She might end up crippled from the waist down. Or even worse, she might live her whole life in a coma."

Suella froze, holding her breath. What the hell? All I did was help him out. How did I end up in a situation like this? This isn't what I expected!

"What can we do?" Ariel continued, "It's all in fate's hands now. Dr. Lorwhal is here, so we might as well turn a room into a makeshift operating room and get on with it."

"No!" Suella leaped away angrily and snapped, "I'm a living person. You can't just decide my fate. This resort is in the middle of nowhere. What if something were to happen to me? I saved your husband's life, and this is how you treat me? How disgusting!"

Ariel crossed her arms, not feeling angry at all. She stared at Suella like she saw a joke. "Oh, you're talking fine. Guess you're not dizzy anymore, huh?"

Angered and humiliated, Suella wanted to hide in a hole. Goddammit! What have I done? Now, they know I was pretending to be unconscious all along.

Since Suella was Alicia's friend, Danny thought this should be enough lessons for her. "Here, have some water." He handed a bottle of water over.

Suella tried to take the water, but someone was faster.

"Sorry." Ariel stuffed the bottle back into Danny's hand and whipped out her bag to get some money. She said, "The water's custom-made for me. It might not be suitable for you. If you're that thirsty, take this money and buy something to drink for yourself." She handed Suella some notes, staring daggers at her. Nobody can try to steal my man.

Suella's face was as red as blood. She knew what Ariel was trying to say, and she was embarrassed that Ariel found out about her intentions. If she took the money, she would be humiliated, but if she didn't, she would look like a fool. In the end, she hobbled away in shame without taking the money.

Danny had conflicting emotions about this. "Miss Taggert is Alicia's friend. I think that was a bit too much."

"You feel sorry for her?" Ariel said coolly as she tucked her money away.

"Of course not!" the man exclaimed before raising his hand again. "If I were to fall for another woman, I… I'll cut my d*ck off!"

"Then, who's going to d*ck me down?" She tossed the wallet to him and took two bottles of water. "Wait for me in the room."

"Where are you going? I will come with you." Danny wanted to tag along.

"Ladies' matter. Stay out of it." With that, she entered the reception hall without saying another word.

Alicia was unpacking their stuff in Room 302 when Suella came hobbling in. She looked awful—it was as if she was about to explode. "What happened?" asked Alicia. "And what's with your feet?"

"I—" Suella wanted to complain, but then she was reminded of what Ariel had said earlier. Ultimately, she swallowed back her words. "It's nothing." She waved Alicia down impatiently. "Just sprained them. That's all."

"Is it serious? Do you want to go to the hospital?"

"No. Just stay out of it."

Worried about Suella, Alicia kept asking for details, but Suella got into the bathroom and locked her out. Just then, someone rang the doorbell, so Alicia answered the door.

She was met with a smiling Ariel. "Miss Whitney? Are you here for me?" Oh, Danny did say he would treat me to something. She's probably here for that, I guess.

"Yes." Ariel smiled. "The resort's just opened, and normally, the water's quality would be… bad. I hope you've prepared your own water in advance, but if you haven't, here's a little gift. You know how important water is to women." She handed the water bottles to Alicia.

"Thank you." Alicia took the water. "You really planned this out."

"Of course. So, where's Miss Taggert?" Ariel craned her neck to look inside the room.

"Oh, she's in the bathroom. Do you need something from her?" asked Alicia.

"Nothing. Danny told me she fainted all of a sudden. While he was taking her to the reception hall, she seemed dizzy and could barely hold herself up. Not until she met me, of course. I thought I should see her. Falling unconscious out of the blue can be serious. If I can heal her, I will gladly do so."

Alicia was smart enough to catch on to the hidden message in Ariel's words, especially when she linked everything to Suella asking her about Danny.

Coolest Girl in Town Chapter 1044-Alicia had been friends with Suella for a long time. She knew the kind of woman Suella was. Suella had been trying to use Alicia to marry a rich guy, yet she wanted nothing but the best. She didn't like the rich guys who liked her, but the ones she had her eyes on spared her no affection. Yet, she still tried to seduce them like a fool. Even though those men's wives knew what Suella was doing, they never attacked her due to her friendship with Alicia. Though, they would talk behind Alicia's back.

This wasn't the first time Suella did it. However, Alicia kept trying to cover for her because they were college friends, and thanks to that, Suella managed to stay in the circle of the wealthy. This time, she tried to cover for Suella as usual. "Sorry, Miss Whitney. She just wants to marry the best, but she means no harm. I'll tell her that."

"You know Miss Taggert better than I do. I trust you just like how you trust her," Ariel mocked.

Alicia looked away nervously. This isn't the first time she's done this. I can't tell Ariel that she's actually a good person.

Ariel thought she had pushed far enough, so she said solemnly, "Miss Heidelberg, you're a good friend. Danny and I are willing to be your friend, which brings me to a serious topic. Keeping a scheming person around is a hazard. They might explode in your face one day, and you might end up dying."

Alicia had wanted to cut ties with Suella a long time ago, but every time Suella came up to her, Alicia would relent and drop the idea. Now that Ariel was already telling her to break off ties with Suella, she would do just that. She figured she would do it after they went back. "Thank you, Miss Whitney. I'll take your suggestion into account. Sorry to trouble you."

"No worries. Thanks for saving Danny. See you. Have fun tonight."

"See you." Alicia sent Ariel off and closed the door. Alicia stared at the bottles of water in her hands.

A while later, Suella came out of the bathroom draped in a piece of towel. She dried her hair and looked at Alicia standing at the room entrance. "Who was it just now?"

"No one. You were hearing things," replied Alicia.

"I see." Suella shrugged it off. She looked at the bottles of water Alicia was holding and froze. Hey, that's the water Ariel had. Alicia has them as well? How come I don't know? "I'm parched. Give me a bottle." She snatched a bottle and took a gulp, demolishing half a bottle in one go. Then, she scoffed. "It's nothing special."

After saying that, she smiled smugly. And Ariel said I wasn't worthy of this. Look at me now. I want the best of the best. Even the man I date must be the best.

Ugh, she has that stupid look again, Alicia thought while shaking her head. She then changed the topic and said, "Get changed. We need to start our hike soon and get a good spot, or we're going to miss the meteor shower."

"I know." Suella finished the remaining water and straightened herself out.

Twenty minutes later, the ladies were making their trek up the mountain. The observatory was on the top. The hotel was at the mountainside, so they had to trek if they wanted a better view. Even though Alicia was holding most of their stuff, Suella was already sweating and huffing not long after they started to trek. Eventually, she got dizzy, and her legs wobbled. "I can't go on." Suella leaned on the guardrail. "How much farther? I can't go on any longer."

"What?" Alicia looked behind them. That's like two flights of stairs. She shrugged. "You really need to train, Suella. Take your time. I'll set up camp." Thinking that Suella was just out of breath, Alicia left her alone. There were a lot of people here for the meteor shower. She wasn't worried about Suella. If anything happens, some of the tourists will help. Alicia exercised a lot, and without Suella holding her down, she was gone in a flash.

Suella stopped for a moment and tried to catch up to Alicia, but then her stomach churned, and she retched. I can't go on. Better go back and rest. She held her nausea in and wobbled back to the hotel, evading all the tourists.

"No one. You were hearing things," replied Alicia.

Her whole body was flaring up when she was in the elevator. Every inch of her skin felt like it was on fire. Slowly, her consciousness was starting to fade, and she tugged on her shirt, trying to cool herself down.

The elevator door swung open, and she leaned on the wall as she moved ahead. Her will was what kept her conscious. Just then, she bumped into someone and fell over. "Water… I need water," she muttered. Her throat was parched, but then she noticed a familiar scent. It woke her up a little. "Mr. Danny, is that you?" She leaned on the man before her, touching him all over.

The man stayed silent for a while. Danny? He picked the woman up and took her into Room 206.

At the observatory, since Elise was pregnant, Alexia told her to sit down while she and Irvin happily set up a tent. The kids worked well, and thanks to Elise's guidance, they set up their tent in less than half an hour. Then, they hung some lamps. The fluorescent star stickers on the tent started glimmering, filling the air with innocence.

Danny and the others finally came when the moon was hanging high up in the sky. The first thing they did upon their arrival was to tease Alexia. "Ooh, that's a nice tent. I bet you can dream of a meteor shower if you sleep in it. Can I have the tent for the night, Lexi?" Jamie placed a carton of wine on the picnic mat.

"No! You're a baddie, Godfather." Alexia stood before the tent's entrance and opened her arms. She then scrunched up her nose, making everyone laugh. Hey, they're playing around with me! Alright, Godfather, you asked for it. She quickly hugged Narissa's leg. "Godfather's a bully!"

Narissa hunkered down and straightened Alexia's hair. Then, she said, "He's going to sleep on the ground tonight, then."

"Great idea!"

Coolest Girl in Town Chapter 1045-Jamie felt like crying. "It was just a joke."

"And that's why you should never mess with a woman." Danny laughed and placed the water on the table.

Ariel cocked her eyebrow at his remark. "So, you think women are scary, huh?"

Danny bowed. "No, no. Women are gentle and understanding. But of course, they can also be tough and admirable. You, my dear, are both tough and gentle. The best qualities lie in you, Ariel. I respect you. You're not scary at all."

The woman smiled at his response. That's a passable answer, I guess.

"You bootlicker." Feeling betrayed by his friend, Jamie turned to Elise for solace. "They're all ditching me, Boss. So, want to have a drink?"

"No. Mommy cannot drink," Alexia refused right away.

"Lexi, you're my goddaughter. Can't you at least go easy on me?" Jamie pouted to earn the little girl's pity.

"Hmph." Though, Alexia didn't pity him in the slightest. She was still mad.

Danny opened a bottle of whiskey and said, "She's pregnant. Can't drink even if she wants to. I'll drink with you."

"I know that. I was just joshing." Jamie then snatched the whiskey away. "And you're an amateur. I'll whip up some good stuff. Don't even dream about going home without getting totally wasted, you hear?"

"Challenge accepted." Danny rolled his sleeves up and opened a few more bottles of alcohol. He mixed them all together and tried to knock Jamie out. Eventually, the men could barely stand up straight from all the drinking. They fell asleep on the ground before they could even see the meteor shower.

Later that night, Raymond got some firewood and made a campfire. Everyone gathered around and chatted like a family.

Alexia was sleeping on Elise's lap, and the moon was hanging high up in the endless sky. There seemed to be a lot more stars that night, and they were all hanging in the heavens, twinkling at the land. When it turned to midnight, even more stars showed up, forming a river of constellations.

At 12.30AM, the first comet showed up in the southwest. It arced through the sky, leaving nothing but a trail of light.

"Alexia," Elise woke the girl up. "The meteor shower has begun. Wake up, or you'll miss it."

Narissa and Ariel roused the gentlemen as well, and the couples stood before the guardrail, wishing upon the stars.

Alexia sat up and rubbed her eyes. When her vision finally focused, she was met with a beautiful meteor shower. Comets flew through the sky like raindrops. "My gosh, it's a meteor shower!" She ran and hopped around like a rabbit in excitement.

"Aren't you going to make a wish?"

"I will!" Oops, I almost forgot. The little girl closed her eyes and made a wish to the gods.

Elise smiled and made a video call to Alexander. She pointed the screen at the sky, hoping he could see the meteor shower when he took the call. A moment later, the call went through. Just as she was about to tell Alexander to make a wish, she realized the screen on her phone was also showing the night sky. Though from the size of the moon, she knew Alexander was standing someplace higher than she was.

"Guess we have the same idea." Alexander then pointed the screen at himself. "Did you make a wish?"

"Yes. I wish…" If there's a next life, I wish we would meet as well.

"Then, mind your own business." Irvin crouched and slithered away from Jamie's grasp. He then approached Elise and covered her with a blanket.

Elise took the blanket and said, "Thank you, son."

Dumbfounded, Jamie blinked his eyes slowly as he thought, Son? He's acting even more maturely than my old man.

Meanwhile, Narissa was standing by the guardrail, staring around the observatory. She noticed Zephyr standing in the crowd. He had a serious look on his face, a hint of sadness hiding in his eyes. Even in the night, he still stood out amongst the crowd.

Zephyr was in the chat group that Elise had made, but he never popped up once to chat. Narissa thought he was staying away from her. Ever since she knew he didn't shove the food she made for him on purpose, she felt guilty about yelling at him. I need to make it up to him. However, no matter how long she looked into his case, she couldn't find out what kind of problem he was dealing with.

She was deep in her thoughts. When she snapped out of it, she saw someone standing beside Zephyr. That person was about the same height, but he was wearing a cap and hiding in the shadows. If she hadn't looked closely, she wouldn't have realized the man in the shadows. Something told her this man was an enemy. Just when she was about to call Jamie for help, she saw him sleeping on a chair. When she turned back again, Zephyr was nowhere to be found.

Narissa came back to the second floor. Just when she was about to enter her room, she noticed someone talking in Room 206, so she turned around to check things out.

Danny and Ariel were on the sofa, and they were covered in robes. One was massaging their forehead while the other was poking their temples. Maverick was lying beside Danny, wearing nothing but a shirt and a pair of boxers. He was still out cold. "Ahem." Elise cleared her throat. "He was going after you, actually."

Danny went silent for a moment. Then, he went to the kitchen and came back with a knife. He stared at Maverick with nothing but murder in his eyes.

Worried that he might kill Maverick, Ariel took the knife away. "Don't dirty your hands."

"What about that woman?" asked Elise.

Danny heaved a sigh in frustration. "She's Alicia's friend. I have no idea why she's here. Gave her two bottles before. She probably drank some. Or maybe Maverick screwed her. I came back with Danny, and she was already there. Must be related to Maverick or something," said Ariel.

Danny froze upon hearing that. "We should see Alicia. She might be drugged as well. Don't want anyone to do anything to her."

Coldly, Narissa said, "She's fine."

Danny paused for a moment and looked at her. "How do you know?"

"Met her on my way back. She was fine," Narissa spoke calmly. Too calmly.

What about Jamie? He already feels guilty about not choosing Alicia. If he finds out they had sex, will he still be with me? If he can't be mine and mine alone, then that's not the kind of love I would want. She was in pain. Every time she closed her eyes, she would imagine Jamie smooching Alicia. Sometimes, she would imagine even worse things. Narissa teared up and started crying. No matter how much she tried to wipe her tears away, they wouldn't stop flowing.

"Are you crying? Narissa, I'm going to knock the door down if you're not coming out." Panicked, Jamie rolled his sleeves up. "On the count of three. One… Two… Three—"

Narissa came out just then, looking cold. Beads of water were dripping from her face. She probably just washed her face.

"Are you alright?" He tugged on her sleeve.

She pushed him away. "I'm fine. Everyone's in the dining hall. We should go now."

"Sure. Let me get changed. Give me a minute."

When they came to the dining hall, Elise and the others were already there, chatting away happily.

"You guys seem happy." Jamie pulled a chair back for Narissa. Noticing Zephyr there, he said, "Oh, you're here, too! Didn't see you last night."

Zephyr glanced at Narissa. "I slept in. Didn't want to go out."

Yeah, right. Jamie didn't believe it at all, but he didn't press on further. Instead, he elbowed Danny. "So, what were you guys talking about?"

"Nothing."

"Someone spiked his drink with an aphrodisiac," Danny and Alexia answered at the same time.

"Lexi…" He held up his fork. "Don't talk when you eat."

She blew a raspberry at Danny.

"You little traitor." He scrunched his nose up.

"You fell for the same trick twice in less than six months? You're an embarrassment to SK." And then, Jamie asked, "So, did you screw anyone else this time?"

"Of course not!" Danny looked at Ariel lovingly, trying to prove his loyalty. "I'm loyal to Ariel. That aphrodisiac can't make me waver."

"As if." He's bullsh*tting. Better ask Alexia. "Is he telling the truth, Lexi?"

"Yes," said Alexia seriously.

Danny was touched. Aw, she loves me. "See? Told you I wasn't lying."

Just then, she continued, "Irvin said Uncle Danny's love rival was the one who wanted to do him. Technically, he didn't sleep with someone else. It's the other way around." The little girl was learning quickly. She didn't even get confused or flustered when talking about this sort of thing.

"Are you crying? Nerisse, I'm going to knock the door down if you're not coming out." Penicked, Jemie rolled his sleeves up. "On the count of three. One… Two… Three—"

"Love rival? Oh, do you mean Maverick?" Hmm, wait… Whoa. "A guy, huh? Never thought you'd be attractive enough for guys."

Embarrassed, Danny tried to change the subject. "What about you? Raymond told me you finished two bottles of water last night. You must've had it bad."

Jamie nodded. "At first, yeah, but then…" He gave Narissa a look before breaking into a silly smile. Best not to bring up the details when kids are around. Besides, Narissa is still angry at me. She will kill me if I bring this up.

Look at the face he's making. There must be more to this. Got to find out about it. "Narissa, you got to tell me where you found him. He finished two whole bottles of water. Probably was lying around in a ditch," Danny said.

Jamie froze. I went straight back to my room. What's he talking about?

"Yes." Narissa didn't even look up. "I found him lying face down on the stairs, out cold."

He gasped. "What? But I remember—"

"I know what I saw." She put her cutlery down and sat up straight, looking stern.

He clamped his mouth shut as he didn't want to anger Narissa further.

Oblivious to the tension, Danny laughed. "You were lying face down on a staircase? You could have fallen to your death! And you call yourself a Dragonweiss member. Wait till everyone hears this!"

"You better don't tell anyone." Jamie tossed a piece of bread at him. "Shut up and eat your bread."

Danny caught the bread and took a big bite. "Bet Rylantha's going to love our surprise."

In Room 205, Rylantha woke up feeling refreshed, and the first thing she saw was Maverick. She smiled in contentment. He's handsome and manly. Sure, he's not from the best family, but he has stamina and is obedient. She loved that about him.

"Love rival? Oh, do you mean Maverick?" Hmm, wait… Whoa. "A guy, huh? Never thought you'd be attractive enough for guys."
