Chapter 61: Extraordinary Means

Peggy Lewis was already too anxious to wait and sent a Whatsapp message.

“Cindy, did you see the Woods family’s post? What do they want? How can their hearts be so vicious by intentionally guiding netizens to investigate!” Peggy said, furious and anxious.

Letting netizens investigate a child, how bad could they be!

“Now there are netizens clamoring to investigate, regardless of whether they really will or not, I’m afraid someone will act.” Peggy Lewis said.

“I know, I am on my way home now. I have a way, I just hope the netizens don’t act too fast, so I can do something before their investigation.” Cindy replied. “What can be done?” Peggy asked anxiously, “Do you need my help?”

“In case of emergency yesterday, I wore a pinhole camera to record everything Nelly Woods said and her expressions. However, I thought I wouldn’t need the footage since Arthur Woods left the nursery.” Cindy said gravely.

“I’ll go back and edit it, I have to cut out Arthur Woods’s part and blur the names of the people involved when Nelly Woods talks.” Cindy said solemnly.

Peggy Lewis agreed.

“I’m almost home, you just focus on your work.” Cindy said, “I look forward to the day when you can be your own boss and come to help me whenever you want. But for now, you have a supervisor watching you, and you can’t do whatever you want.”

Peggy sighed, “I know.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll keep you updated if there’s any new information.” Cindy reassured her.

Cleave Roland glanced at Cindy through the rearview mirror and couldn’t help but think her resilience was admirable.

Her serious demeanor just now was very impressive.

And her tactics were equally remarkable.

Finally arriving at Cindy’s home, she thanked Cleave Roland and hurriedly wheeled her electric bicycle inside.

Upon returning home, she had no time to settle in.

She hurriedly retrieved the pinhole camera she had used the day before.

She hadn’t had a chance to export the footage yet.

She quickly uploaded everything to her computer.

Then, she clipped out the portions of Nelly Woods speaking and pieced them back together.

She also blurred out any shots of Arthur Woods in the video.

Since Arthur was short and Cindy’s pinhole camera was hidden in a button on her shirt, there were few shots of him.

Even if there were, they only captured him from the shoulder up.

After blurring out Arthur Woods’s face, she also blurred Nelly Woods’s face and muted the names of people mentioned in the video.

However, while muting the names, Cindy still left the last name “Woods” intact.

Since Nelly Woods had intentionally tried to provoke others to investigate, she probably wouldn’t mind leaving a “Ms. Woods” in the video.

Cindy didn’t harbor malicious thoughts to harm others, but she wouldn’t play by the “repay evil with kindness” rule when being targeted by others.

Nelly Woods wanted to incite people to investigate Morgan Zhekova, didn’t She?

Now, she’d like to see who gets investigated in the end.

After editing the video, Cindy uploaded it directly to her “Cain Velman” account.

Cain Velman: “I am the parent of that child mentioned by the netizens. My followers know that I am a single mother. I have no connections, no background, just a small food blogger. I worked hard to get my child into a decent nursery, but that’s all I can do..”

Chapter 62: A Powerful Background?

“I can’t afford the high sponsorship fees, nor can I force the nursery to take my side, regardless of right or wrong. You’ll see for yourself; here’s the video as evidence.”

Then the video Cindy uploaded followed.

In the video, Nelly Woods bragged about her family’s annual sponsorship of nearly 10 million yuan to the nursery.

No matter what her son did, the nursery should fawn upon him.

The video also captured Nelly Woods admitting to what Arthur Woods said about Cindy.

Nelly Woods didn’t think what she said was wrong and acted as if they were in control just because of their sponsorship money.

Cindy’s side should endure the insults, too.

Cindy has many fans, so the spread of this news is no slower than Nelly Woods’s purchased hot topic.

Soon, Cindy didn’t need to buy a hot topic spot – she made it there organically.

Then, Cindy posted another update on Facebook.

“You said we relied on strong backgrounds to twist the truth in our favor at the nursery. But I can’t afford to give close to 10 million yuan in sponsorship each year or have the power to get someone expelled for it. My child has never insulted anyone, unlike the malicious language from you that made them cry.” “Do you call that a strong background?”

“Do I not deserve an apology? Who gave you the courage to twist the truth and feel like we should apologize to you?”

“I’d like to thank the nursery for making a fair judgment. They didn’t blindly follow you just because of the money you gave every year.” Cindy took the opportunity to praise the nursery.

Although the headmaster took her side only due to Adrian Zhekova’s pressure.

Since Morgan needed to remain at the nursery, there was no point in Cindy ruining her relationship with the headmaster.

The headmaster didn’t expect Cindy to wield such significant influence, an internet celebrity with remarkable reach.

Just a single Facebook post and there were so many shares and comments.

Earlier, he worried about finding Cindy to let Adrian Zhekova help address the issue. But would Adrian Zhekova even care about such a small matter?

Unexpectedly, Cindy resolved this situation herself.

Dazed-Goofball: “I feel so sorry for our Morgan. They said such outrageous things and had the nerve to play the victim.”

Cindy being a single mother is common knowledge among her fans.

Sometimes Morgan would help Cindy record Mukbang videos, only showing her mouth and hands.

Internet users who initially sympathized with Nelly Woods and felt resentful towards her exploded in anger.

After all, Cindy had videos and evidence, Nelly Woods’ arrogant voice in the video was vivid and arrogant, giving off an impression her money made her fearless.

Furthermore, the insults she uttered in the video.

Suddenly, the initially created image of being bullied and vulnerable vanished entirely.

Kacey Harris 1300: “The nursery did the right thing! This kind of person should be expelled!”

EstherPrice: “So arrogant; just because her family gives more money, she doesn’t know how many children she has bullied in the past.” JennieSnow: “It’s not right tor kids to tight, and the parents should educate them properly. Instead, they join in bullying others. They’re expelled now, and they claim injustice. Such parents are outrageous!”

SherrySummer: “This nursery is not bad, at least they didn’t show favoritism towards them because of their sponsorship.”

Peggy Lewis had been paying attention since Cindy’s first Facebook post.

Seeing how the situation had completely turned around, Peggy Lewis finally breathed a sigh of relief.

A large number of internet users rushed to comment under Nelly Woods’.

Chapter 63: Too Embarrassing

Only Want a Candy: “Cain Velman even deliberately blocked your child, but instead, you directly posted the child’s back view. What on earth are you thinking! ”

Only You, Cain: “You just want people to look into the child’s information, don’t you? How could you be so mean!”

Fat Fairy from the Village: “If she were not mean, she wouldn’t have said those things.”

A Child Who Smiles with a Candy: “You should delete the child’s photo. The child has been insulted by you, and you still post his photo; that’s too much.”

Nelly Woods was dumbfounded when she saw the online sentiment changing all of a sudden.

She never thought that Morgan Zhekova’s mother would actually be someone with significant influence online.

Her fans are so many!

What she couldn’t have imagined even more was that Cindy Clarke was so cunning and shameless that she actually brought a pinhole camera into the Nursery yesterday!

Nelly Woods was furious.

Another furious person was Zoe Silverstone.

Originally, when she saw Cain Velman participating in the Cooking Competition yesterday, she directly stood up and made herself appear superior, as if she was afraid of Cain.

So, Zoe Silverstone also signed up for it today.

After completing the registration, she immediately posted on Facebook, challenging Cain Velman and declaring war against her.

Originally, this was a very aggressive move.

It can attract attention to her, gain more support from her fans, and completely suppress Cain Velman’s arrogance.

She was still waiting for Cain Velman’s response, wondering how she would respond.

Wasn’t Cain Velman questioning whether she would dare to participate in the Cooking Competition and compete directly against her?

Then, she would sign up and slap her in the face!

Unexpectedly, instead of waiting for Cain Velman’s response, she got the news that Cain Velman was fighting with someone else and even became a hot topic on social media.

For a moment, her registration news was overshadowed, silently sinking without a trace.

Fans in the food industry, regardless of whose fan they are, including Zoe Silverstone’s fans, are all paying attention to the matter of Cain Velman’s son being bullied.

An An from the Fan’s Home: “Poor Zoe Silverstone, she was targeted by Cindy yesterday, and then she wanted to show off that she also signed up today. Who knew that no one paid attention to her at all.”

Wait for the Fire to Catch Water: “Cain Velman doesn’t even have time to deal with her. This is so awkward.”

No Harm in Cherishing This Jade: “Zoe Silverstone even @Cain Velman, but she didn’t even bother to respond, and went straight to fight with someone else. I feel awkward on behalf of Zoe Silverstone, hahaha!”

After dealing with Nelly Woods’s issue, Cindy Clarke noticed these comments.

In that case, there is even less need for her to bother with Zoe Silverstone.

Just let Zoe Silverstone feel awkward by herself.

After Adrian Zhekova finished the meeting, he walked out of the conference room. Sheldon Rowland said, “Master Adrian, Cindy has been safely sent home by Cleave Roland.”

Adrian Zhekova nodded, took a pause, and asked, “Cindy is being bothered by someone online?”

Sheldon Rowland was stunned for a moment and replied, “I’ll check it out now.”

Adrian Zhekova returned to his office, pulled out his mobile phone, and logged into Facebook to check it out.

Sheldon Rowland was investigating while Cleave Roland sneaked towards his desk.

He looked around when he stopped.

Sheldon Rowland slapped him, “Sneaky, like a thief, what are you doing?”

“Haven’t I just sent Cindy home after I finished?” Cleave Roland lowered his voice and asked when he saw nobody else but Sheldon Rowland, “What exactly is the relationship between Cindy and our CEO?”

Chapter 64: The Little Girl is Really Not Simple

“I’m not sure either, just know that the CEO seems to care a lot about her.”

Influenced by Cleave Roland, Sheldon Rowland lowers his voice and whispers, “When have you ever seen our CEO going out of his way to send a girl home so thoughtfully?”

“True,” Cleave Roland nods.

Among the opposite sex that he had escorted during work, it had only been limited to company clients. This was the first time he had ever sent home a woman who had a private relationship with Adrian Zhekova.

“Although it was my first time meeting Cindy Clarke today, I think that the young girl isn’t simple.” Cleave Roland admiringly gives a thumbs up.

Seeing that he wasn’t speaking derogatorily, Sheldon Rowland curiously asks,

“How so?”

“When I was in the car, I heard her on the phone with a friend. It seemed like there was a conflict with another child’s family at the nursery. The issue went online, and even though no one mentioned names, there were a few hints. Based on that, netizens could have easily found her child.”

As for Cindy Clarke having a child, Cleave Roland, of course, knew about it.

Cindy and Morgan Clarke had visited the company yesterday, and the news had already spread throughout the company.

“Who would have thought, Cindy Clarke directly recorded the whole incident with a pinhole camera, and when she put the video online, the truth was clear at a glance!” Cleave Roland admired.

“I’m just impressed by how thoughtful she is. Who would think of that in a situation like this? Even if it was just to negotiate with the other child’s parents, she brought a pinhole camera to record it. It was awesome.” Cleave Roland exclaimed, “The key is she is very restrained and ensures the child is not affected. She blurred out the other child’s face, not exposing anyone.”

“It’s totally different from the other child’s parents. They actually put up a

photo of Cindy Clarke’s child from behind.”

Hearing Cleave Roland’s words, Sheldon Rowland immediately went to search.

Quickly, they found Nelly Woods’ Facebook account.

“Remove the photo of Morgan Zhekova that she posted.” Adrian Zhekova’s voice suddenly rang out.

Sheldon Rowland and Cleave Roland were startled and quickly looked over.

Adrian Zhekova was already standing near the office entrance, without them noticing when he had come in.

Cleave Roland was blocking Sheldon’s view, so he couldn’t see Adrian. Since Cleave Roland had his back turned, he knew even less.

“Master Adrian!”

Both of them called out at the same time.

“Remove the photo and don’t let people disturb Morgan Clarke.” Adrian Zhekova said in a deep voice.

“Yes.” Sheldon Rowland quickly acknowledged and immediately made the arrangement.

Cleave Roland didn’t dare to stay there any longer and was about to leave when

Adrian Zhekova stopped him, ‘Where are you going?”

“I… I’m heading back to my office,” Cleave Roland replied nervously.

Adrian Zhekova nodded towards his own office, “Come in with me and tell me what you heard in the car.”

After explaining everything he had heard in the car without leaving out a single word, Cleave Roland left Adrian Zhekova’s office.

Adrian Zhekova opened Cindy Clarke’s WhatsApp and muttered to himself, “Aren’t you supposed to be smart? Then how did you end up being deceived back then?”

He then called Cindy Clarke.

Cindy had just finished dealing with Woods Family’s matter.

She was preparing to contact Facebook to see if they could remove the photo of Morgan Clarke from behind.

As a highly followed user, she had some connections with officials on Facebook.

After thinking about it, Cindy found an administrator whom she had met at an official event.

When she mentioned the issue, she didn’t expect him to say, “The photo has already been removed. It was the CEO’s special assistant from Pingla Group who found us personally.. I thought you had connections with him, didn’t you know?”

Chapter 65: Is this girl silly or not?

Cindy thanked him and hung up the phone.

She suddenly realized, wasn’t Sheldon Rowland the special assistant of Pingla Group’s CEO?

Was this matter handled by Sheldon?

Did he see the news online and deal with it himself, or did Adrian Zhekova ask him to do it?

Cindy felt that she should call Sheldon anyway.

To thank him and ask about it.

She was searching for Sheldon’s phone number in her contacts when Adrian’s call came in.

It was just yesterday that Adrian had reminded her to save his number in her contacts.

Now, Adrian’s name was very prominently displayed on her mobile phone screen.

Cindy immediately picked up: “Mr. Zhekova.”

“At noon today at the company, I had other things to tell you, so I didn’t bother about the issue of addressing each other.” Adrian didn’t mention his purpose and surprisingly spoke of this first.

“Do you think I didn’t notice?”

Over the phone, Cindy could almost see him raising his eyebrows.

She really felt that calling him by his full name was too casual.

And not respectful enough to him.

Now that Adrian mentioned it again, Cindy could only stiffen up and call him:

“Adrian… Zhekova…’

Calling him like that, she felt her tongue burn.

Finally, Adrian was barely satisfied: “Remember, I’m not Mr. Zhekova.”

Cindy hesitated for a moment, and since he had called her, she wanted to ask him about the Facebook issue.

Unexpectedly, Adrian had already taken the initiative to bring it up: “I saw the issue on Facebook. I just instructed Sheldon Rowland to remove the photos, so you don’t need to worry.”

It turned out that it was Adrian who asked Sheldon to do it.

“Did you… hear the voice message my friend sent me at noon?” Cindy thought that Adrian, being so busy, wasn’t someone who could go on Facebook anytime.

Without anyone informing him, Adrian wouldn’t know about it.

The only possibility was the voice message Peggy Lewis sent her at noon. At that time, she was walking and listening, and didn’t have time to switch to the earpiece mode.

“I didn’t mean to overhear it, you were not far from me at that time.” Adrian explained.

“I didn’t mean for you to overhear it either.” Cindy, on the other hand, was even more worried about this situation.

After she finished speaking, Adrian’s laughter, as if hidden in his throat, came through from the other side of the phone.

Despite being through the phone, Cindy could imagine his Adam’s apple trembling slightly and rolling gently in his throat.

“I know.” Adrian’s low voice came through the phone and floated gently into Cindy’s ears.

“How do you know?” Cindy couldn’t help but mutter, “What if it was on purpose for you to hear it and help me solve the problem?”

Adrian raised his eyebrows.

Was this girl really stupid?

He just thought it was quite clever of her to know to wear a hidden camera while dealing with Nelly Woods.

How come she’s acting like a fool now?

“With you being this stupid, you can’t think of something so scheming.” Adrian teased with a low laugh.

Cindy protested: “What’s stupid about me! I’m so smart!”

“You’re not stupid and still speak such words? Aren’t you afraid I’ll really misunderstand?” thought Adrian, isn’t she still stupid now?

Cindy: ‘

It seemed… that was the case.

Then… Adrian Zhekova wouldn’t really misunderstand, would he?

“At that time, you were in a hurry to leave and walked so fast that you couldn’t calculate how far the distance would be for me to overhear.” Adrian explained.

Moreover, there was one thing that Cindy didn’t know..

Chapter 66: The Cunning Adrian Zhekova

With Cindy Clarke’s pace at that time, if he still stood in the same place, he would certainly not have heard anything.

But Cindy didn’t look back, and didn’t know, that when she walked away, he also followed behind her.

So, he was able to hear the conversation in her Whatsapp.

Also, this young girl doesn’t think enough.

Even if she did play mind games, would he definitely help?

Whether he would help or not would still depend on himself.

It has nothing to do with whether she’s tricky.

“Thank you.” Cindy counted, her indebtedness to him growing, “I just contacted the people at Facebook as well, I originally wanted to ask them to remove Morgan Zhekova’s pictures, but they said Sheldon Rowland had already alerted them.”

Adrian Zhekova had acted faster than her.

“If you want to thank me, deliver lunch to me tomorrow.” Adrian Zhekova tapped on the desktop a few times.

He thought of her delivering lunch to others.

Must he eat the same as others?

“Cooking Competition starts next week,” Adrian Zhekova said, “Once it begins, you won’t have time to work as a private chef, delivering lunch. You have to be busy preparing for the Competition, designing the cuisine.”

“So, I suggest you stop the private chef and delivery work for now.” Adrian Zhekova said schemingly, “It’s best to stop now, to prepare properly for the major competition. ”

Cindy didn’t expect that Adrian Zhekova would say this because he didn’t want to see her delivering food to others and he didn’t want others to eat the same as him.

What he ate must be unique!

Cindy simply thought Adrian was being reasonable: “Mm, I think so too. Then

I’ll stop this work tomorrow and prepare lunch only for you.”

Adrian Zhekova’s mouth curled up slightly, and quickly dropped again.

But thinking that Cindy could not see, he undisguisedly revealed his cunning smile.

“I usually deliver lunch to your company’s employees around 12:05 pm or 12:10 pm. Is that time convenient for you?”

Then, Cindy hung up the phone, closed her online shop, and informed each of her old customers one by one that she couldn’t provide lunch service for a long time.

After taking care of all these things, she received a call in no time. “Hello, is this Miss Clarke?” a slightly old female voice came over the phone.

“Yes, may I ask who this is-

“Are you available the day after tomorrow? We are having a gathering at our home at noon. I invited a few old friends to have a meal. So, I wanted to invite you to prepare lunch. No limit on the price, just quote the price once you prepare the menu.” the speaker said.

The no price limit did come as a little surprise.

This undoubtedly gave her a great deal of scope. If it was before, she would have agreed right away.

“I’m really sorry, but I have just closed my online shop. Due to my personal reasons, I will not be running my private chef service for a long time.” Cindy Clarke apologized.

“You can’t come? What am I supposed to do now? Oh dear!” The old madam sighed in disappointment, and her sadness could be felt over the phone.

“I heard your cooking is very good, and you can prepare different cuisines based on the customer’s tastes. All of us old friends are gourmets, so we thought of inviting you..”

Chapter 67: Grandson, When Will You Find a Partner?

“Ah, it’s my fault for asking so late, it’s really a shame. If only I had asked you earlier. How long before you can resume your private chef services?”

“Well… it’s hard to say, at least a few months, or maybe even longer.” Cindy Clarke replied.

She was confident that she would pass the preliminary selection and advance to become an official contestant in the Cooking Competition.

She didn’t know how far she could make it in the competition.

After all, there were always stronger opponents at every stage of the competition.

Moreover, students from Pingla Culinary Academy alone shouldn’t be underestimated.

Cindy didn’t have the confidence to think that she was guaranteed to be the winner and unbeatable.

However, she was confident that she could hold out for a month or two in the culinary competition.

If she could achieve a good ranking, she might have new considerations and might decide not to continue as a private chef.

So, if it’s only a few months or more, it’s hard to say.

“So… it means you may not be doing this ever again?” The Old Madam’s voice sounded as though the sky was falling down in disappointment.

“Ah, I’m old and have no other hobbies, just love a good meal. I already promised my old friends to invite you to cook a meal in our house so we could savor it. Who knew it would be such bad timing.”

“My old friends, they too are getting older, and for us, each meal might be the last. Even if someday you decide to become a private chef again, we don’t know if we can wait that long.”

“Right now, we don’t have any other wishes, just want to taste your cooking.” The Old Madam sighed, “Never mind, life is never perfect, you can’t always get what you want. Ah! Please pretend…just pretend I never made this call.”

“I’ll have to explain to my old friends later. They’ll definitely be disappointed too, but there’s nothing we could do about it. Ah! Even our meals won’t taste as good anymore.”

Cindy: ‘

Somehow, she felt that if she didn’t agree to it, it would be extremely unfair.

The Old Madam spoke in such a miserable tone, Cindy couldn’t help but feel guilty.

“Then… I’ll come over the day after tomorrow.” Cindy replied, “Actually, starting from tomorrow, I’ll be ending my private chef services. But as an exception, I’ll personally prepare a meal just for you guys this time.”

Just cooking one meal for the old ladies wouldn’t be much trouble.

“Really?” The Old Madam was delighted.

“Yes, please give me your address and wait for me to make a menu for tomorrow. We can make changes if necessary,” Cindy replied.

“In that case, let’s add each other on Whatsapp,” said the Old Madam happily, “You can find me using my mobile phone number. I’ll send you our address through Whatsapp, and you can share the menu with me on Whatsapp too.” Cindy didn’t expect the Old Madam to be so up-to-date.

It was surprising that, despite sounding quite old, she knew how to use Whatsapp.

“Alright,” Cindy agreed.

After hanging up the phone, Cindy saved the phone number and found the Old Madam on Whatsapp using her number.

Her Whatsapp username was: Grandson, When Will You Find a Partner?

Cindy: ‘

That really was a soul-searching question.

She wondered what her grandson’s mood was like whenever he chatted with his grandmother.

Every time the Old Madam sent a message, the grandson had to read: Grandson, When Will You Find a Partner?

Just thinking about it made Cindy feel the pressure.

Cindy: “Hello, I’m the private chef you contacted just now.”

Grandson, When Will You Find a Partner?: “Hello, hello. Wait a moment, I’ll send you the address..”

Chapter 68: Don ‘t You Understand Either?

Then, she sent a location map to Cindy Clarke.

Cindy Clarke: “Okay, let me know if you or your friends have any dietary preferences, dislikes, or allergies, and I’ll avoid them.”

Grandson, When Will You Find a Partner?: “Okay, let me make a list and send it to you.”

The next day, Cindy Clarke was less busy since she only prepared lunch for Adrian Zhekova.

She chose rice as the main dish for Adrian Zhekova, considering he’s always busy working and would need a more filling meal to last him through the day.

beautiful red color with a slight golden hue on both sides, then set them aside in a dish.

She also fried the shrimp heads in the pot until the shrimp oil came out, making it brightly red and delicious-looking.

She mixed the cooked rice with egg yolk and the fried shrimp oil, making sure that each grain of rice was coated.

Every grain of rice was now covered in egg yolk and shrimp oil.

Then, she fried the rice in the pot until it was dry and fluffy, added cooked green peas, and scooped it out once it was ready.

Cindy Clarke placed a layer of lettuce in the food container before putting the fried rice on it.

The extra lettuce worked as a separator between the rice and the other dishes she was going to add next.

Next, she ground ginger into a paste, chopped spring onions and fresh chili, fried them in a pot, and added chopped tomatoes, frying them until they were soft and pasty. She then added some tomato sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and a little white wine.

Finally, she added the shrimp and coated them in the sauce, removed them from the pan, and placed them on another piece of lettuce.

This way, the shrimp and fried rice were kept separate, and she didn’t have to worry about the rice getting soggy from the shrimp’s sauce or vice versa.

This was the main dish.

Worried that Adrian Zhekova might still be hungry, Cindy decided to add an extra side dish.

Smoked Salmon with Poached Eggs.

She separated three egg yolks, added salt and black pepper, then whisked them together with lemon juice, a little white wine, and olive oil to make a thick mayonnaise.

She also boiled two eggs, adding a few drops of white vinegar to the water, stirring it into a vortex before cracking the eggs in.

The whirlpool wrapped around the egg whites, slowly swirling them to resemble a poached egg.

She quickly scooped them out before the yolk was cooked, placed them on top of the smoked salmon, drizzled the homemade mayonnaise over it, and put it in the food container.

In a separate smaller container within the food container, she baked the remaining egg whites into crepes.

None of the ingredients went to waste.

Once everything was ready, she got on her electric bicycle and headed to the Pingla Group, just in time.

Cindy Clarke thought for a moment and sent Adrian Zhekova a message on Whatsapp: “I’ve arrived at the company. Should I leave the lunch at the reception desk for you?

She figured Adrian Zhekova might not have time to come down and get the meal himself, and would probably ask Sheldon Rowland to pick it up.

Adrian Zhekova was in a meeting, nearing its conclusion.

Suddenly, a Whatsapp notification chimed.

The clear sound was unusually loud in the conference room.

Everyone was shocked, breaking out in cold sweat – they had all set their mobile phones to silent during the meeting, right?

They exchanged glances.

Whoever didn’t silence their phone was in for a scolding!

Everyone knew about their CEO’s bad temper, and yet someone dared to leave their phone’s sound on during a meeting!

However, the sound seemed to be coming from the CEO’s direction.

Who would be so bold as to let their mobile phone make noise so close to the

CEO?

Chapter 69: What’s wrong with the CEO this time?

Everyone’s eyes simultaneously fell on Sheldon Rowland, who was closest to

Adrian Zhekova.

Sheldon Rowland: ‘

Why are they looking at him?

It wasn’t him!

But in Adrian Zhekova’s presence, he didn’t dare to say.

At this moment, Adrian Zhekova beside Sheldon Rowland moved.

Adrian Zhekova took out his mobile phone and opened Whatsapp.

Sheldon Rowland wanted to sneak a peek but didn’t have the guts.

When the notification sounded, Adrian Zhekova knew that it was a message from Cindy Clarke.

One reason was because of the timing, it should be her.

The other reason was because he had muted the notifications from others before the meeting, leaving only Cindy Clarke’s active.

Adrian Zhekova saw Cindy Clarke’s message and quickly replied, “Wait a moment, I’m coming downstairs.”

Upon seeing Adrian Zhekova’s reply, Cindy Clarke thought her eyes were playing tricks and looked at the message several times in surprise.

She finally confirmed that Adrian Zhekova was indeed coming down in person.

In the conference room, Adrian Zhekova just replied to Cindy Clarke and looked up to see everyone watching him.

Turns out the one who didn’t mute his phone wasn’t someone else, it was this scumbag CEO.

“What are you all looking at!” Adrian Zhekova snapped mercilessly, “The meeting is dragging on, let’s wrap it up.”

Having said that, Adrian Zhekova stood up first and strode out of the conference room.

Everyone: .

“Assistant Sheldon, the CEO is……” What’s wrong with him?

“Haha.” Sheldon Rowland managed a laugh while packing up his documents,

“The CEO is in a good mood today, nothing’s wrong.”

Everyone: .

So the temper he just demonstrated was him being in a good mood? No wonder he managed to work as an assistant beside the scumbag CEO for so

many years.

The ability to bluff is not a small feat.

“Assistant Sheldon, why didn’t the CEO mute his phone today?” Vice President Zeigler asked curiously, “It seemed like he was waiting for a particular message.”

Could it be that their scumbag CEO is in love?

“Haha, I don’t know about that either.” Sheldon Rowland laughed, “But while the CEO can leave his phone unmuted, we absolutely can’t. Remember that.”

“Of course.” Manager Liam from the Marketing Department replied with a smile.

Adrian Zhekova personally came to the first floor of the company.

He saw Cindy Clarke standing there waiting with a food container.

Seeing Adrian Zhekova approaching, Cindy Clarke hurried over.

“Sorry to keep you waiting,” Adrian Zhekova apologized with a smile.

“Not at all, I’ve just arrived. I didn’t wait long after I sent you the Whatsapp message.” Cindy Clarke handed him the food container, “This is a thermal container, it keeps the food’s taste and temperature as fresh as possible.”

“Tell me if there are any flavors you dislike.” said Cindy Clarke.

“Thank you.” Adrian Zhekova replied as he took it.

Then, Cindy Clarke said: “I have to go now. Next time I deliver food, you can exchange the empty one with me.”

“Wait a moment,” Adrian Zhekova stopped her, “Come with me.” After Adrian Zhekova finished speaking, he turned and left.

Without a choice, Cindy Clarke had to follow him.

Walking at his side, all eyes on the way were focused on her.

Now all Pingla Group employees knew Cindy Clarke.

And because some employees were Cindy Clarke’s customers, they knew her.

Word spread and pretty much all employees knew her.

Cindy Clarke followed beside Adrian Zhekova, feeling incredibly awkward.

Walking into the elevator, which was crowded since it was lunch break and everyone was coming out for lunch.

As the elevator doors opened, the employees inside saw Adrian Zhekova and Cindy Clarke.

The surprised eyes of employees landed on Cindy Clarke for a second before they greeted, “Hello CEO, hello Miss Clarke.” Cindy Clarke:

How did they know her surname was Clarke?

Chapter 70: Just Take a Look

Adrian Zhekova nodded, waiting for everyone to come out before he and Cindy

Clarke entered the elevator.

As the elevator doors closed, the employees who just stepped out of the elevator immediately couldn’t help but gossip.

“I think she’s the CEO’s girlfriend, right?”

“Maybe she’s even the mother of the CEO’s child; don’t forget about the little kid who visited before, who looked just like the CEO!”

“Did the CEO secretly get married without telling anyone?”

“I’m more curious about how that girl can stand the scumbag CEO’s temper.”

“Even that scumbag CEO can find a girlfriend? Stop kidding!” If that scumbag CEO can find a girlfriend, why is he still single!

Cindy Clarke had no idea about the employees’ speculations as she followed Adrian Zhekova to his office.

Just as she was about to ask, there was a knock on the office door.

“Come in.” As Adrian Zhekova’s voice fell, Sheldon Rowland walked in.

“CEO, Cindy Clarke.” Sheldon smiled and greeted them, placing a food container on the table, “This just came from Quire.”

Adrian then said to Cindy: “You must not have eaten before coming here, so I had lunch sent over.”

Cindy thought to herself, no wonder this food container looks so exquisite; it’s not an ordinary lunch box.

It turned out to be from Quire, the Michelin Three Star Restaurant owned by the Pingla Group.

Cindy had never been there before, and to be honest, she was quite curious.

Reservation for a Michelin Three Star restaurant needed advance notice and the prices were high, and Cindy really didn’t want to spend the money to try it out.

However, if Adrian could order such a fancy lunch, why did he have her deliver lunch?

Whether in terms of ingredients or culinary skills, there certainly was a gap between her and the head chef of a Michelin Three Star Restaurant.

Wasn’t Adrian’s choice a bit far-fetched?

She hadn’t thought about this problem before, but now the fact was right in front of her eyes.

Cindy felt a bit restless.

Adrian had eaten so many exquisite dishes before. Would he think hers was too simple by comparison?

It made her feel like she was showing off her skills in front of an expert.

“I came to bring you lunch, but you ended up ordering it for me.” Cindy felt really embarrassed.

“The restaurant’s cuisine is indeed exquisite and delicious, but to me, it lacks warmth.” Adrian explained why he chose Cindy’s cooking over having lunch sent by his own restaurant.

Cindy thought about it and agreed.

Adrian had eaten many exquisite dishes before and after a while, they lose their charm.

Sheldon then said, “CEO, Cindy, I’ll leave you two alone.”

As he was about to leave, Adrian stopped him, “Wait.” Sheldon looked at Adrian with confusion. Adrian slowly sat down and said to Cindy, “Sit.”

He meant to have Cindy dine with him.

After she sat down, Adrian finally spoke to Sheldon, “There’s nothing else, I just wanted you to look at the lunch Cindy prepared.”

Adrian opened the food container and was amazed at first sight.

Cindy had divided the meal into sections for him.

Orange-yellow fried rice, emerald green lettuce, red shrimp, red and white salmon poached eggs, and white egg pancakes with a slightly burnt yellow outer ring.

At a glance, you could see how much effort Cindy had put into this meal; it must have taken her a lot of time.

“It looks so beautiful.” Sheldon’s eyes were filled with envy.

“Beautiful, isn’t it?” Adrian asked.

Sheldon quickly nodded.

“Just look and then leave.” Adrian said ruthlessly.
