Chapter 196: Truth Or Dare

Dora stood up abruptly and said, “I have to use the washroom.”

As soon as she was gone, Nate looked at everyone else with a sly smile on his face. With a mischievous giggle, he said, “Let’s play a game!”

“What kind of game?” Ethan wondered.

Nate giggled and said, “We should play a math game. I love math.”

Kylie frowned at Nate and said, “That is stupid. If we are going to play a game, we should play Truth or Dare!”

“We could do that,” Nate admitted, “but no complaining or reneging if you are asked intimate questions about your life! Everyone should be honest to give their answer,”

Just as they were determining what game to play, Dora returned. Her eyes were red, and everyone could tell that she’d been crying. Out of kindness, though, no one mentioned it. Instead, they invited her to play the game with them. “In the first round,” Nate explained as he pulled out a deck of cards, “I will deal these cards out, and whoever gets the first queen will be the loser, and they will have to go to the bar and try to pick up a girl.”

“What if one of the women loses,” Kylie wondered.

“The same thing,” Nate replied. “You will have to go to the bar and try to pick up a woman.”

“Sounds fun,” Kylie admitted as she thought of her previous experience with women’s attitude. “Let’s do it.”

Nate began to deal out the cards, and for the first three rounds, none of the queens appeared. In the fourth round, though, the Queen was dealt with by Kylie. She stood up quickly and walked to the bar heading straight for a slim large breasted blond. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail. She wore glasses. Her face looked kind, but her expression suggested that she was lonely.

Kylie lightly touched the girl’s arm, and when she turned, Kylie pointed to her table and said, “Excuse me. I hope that this doesn’t sound creepy or anything, but I have been sitting there, and ever since you sat down, I haven’t been able to keep my eyes off you. My name is Kylie, and I wonder if you might consider being my date for the evening?”

The girl blushed and said, “My name is Bethany, and I would be honored to be your date for the evening.”

Kylie had planned to take her straight to her seat and invite her to join their game, but the thought of how Ethan might react convinced her that it might not go over very well. In truth, she hadn’t realized how easy it would be to pick a girl up, so she hadn’t really considered how she would proceed if she was successful.

Kylie took a seat beside Bethany and ordered them both a drink.

Ethan frowned as he watched Kylie making time with the woman at the bar. Without really thinking, he walked up to the bar, took a seat about a meter from where Bethany and Kylie were sitting, and ordered a shot of fireball whiskey.

Now that he was closer to the ladies, he realized that he recognized the blond. She was a famous French medical scientist. Her name was Bethany. It was pretty funny when he thought about how small the world sometimes seemed. He downed the shot, turned, and called the blond out by name.

Once he’d gotten her attention, he said, “Bethany, this is such a coincidence – how do you know my friend, Kylie?”

“It is quite the coincidence,” Bethany gushed. “I just met her. I would like to catch up with you, but I am not really available. I hope you aren’t offended, but I would like to spend some time with Kylie. As a lesbian, it isn’t often that I am approached by women, and when it does happen, more often than not, they are the butch dike type.”

“I understand completely,” Ethan replied, “but maybe as a compromise, we could all go upstairs and check out the Karaoke bar.”

Bethany thought about it for a minute and said, “I have to admit that I love Karaoke. What do you think, Kylie?”

Kylie nodded and said, “It sounds good to me.”

Everyone went upstairs, and the hours passed quickly, and before they knew it, almost all of them were completely wasted. At one point, Ethan looked behind him and saw Kylie and Bethany seem talking intimately. Kylie had her hand on Bethany’s shoulder, and he had no idea what to do. He was angry and surprised. He hadn’t known that Kylie was bi-sexual, or even bi-curious if that was what this was. Apart from him, he wanted to grab Kylie and slap the shit out of her. He felt suddenly jealous, seeing his wife with this lesbian. Another part of him wanted to bring her immediately at home so that he could be a fly on the wall while they fucked each other.

Eventually, neither option was possible. Both girls were completely drunk. Ethan called a taxi for Bethany, helped her get into it, and then he went back for Kylie. When he got back to Kylie, she was fast asleep on the floor. Gently, he picked her up and carried her to his car.

Ethan had no idea that, while still sober, Kylie and Bethany had exchanged numbers.

Once Kylie was strapped in and the door was closed, he turned around and found him face to face with Dora. Dora was completely drunk, and all of her inhibitions were gone. She looked Ethan right in the face and said, “I love you. I always have.” And then she leaned forward and kissed him on the mouth.

Ethan pushed her away and said, “I’ve always thought of you as a friend and nothing more. Please respect that and never do what you just did again.

“I’m sorry,” Dora stammered as she stepped backward. “I am so embarrassed. Please don’t tell anyone about what happened.”

Ethan nodded and said, “This never happened, now go home and get to bed. And drink plenty of water so that you don’t have a headache in the morning.”

Chapter 197: What Is The Exciting News?

The next day, Kylie woke up with a pounding headache. She yawned, threw on her housecoat, stepped out into the hallway, and found herself face to face with Stephen. At first, she didn’t know what to say. He wasn’t wearing a shirt, and he didn’t seem to care that she had seen him half-naked. After a second, Kylie tightened her housecoat and started screaming.

“Why are you here?!” she shouted.

“Oh, calm your tits, toots!” Stephen laughed while looking at her, amused.

Kylie looked past Stephen and yelled for Ethan to come and save her.

The next door opened into Ethan’s gym, and when he emerged from it, he took one look at the situation and said, “Stephen, go to your room and get dressed, and don’t you dare come out until I’ve given you permission! How dare you walk around half-naked knowing that there’s a woman here,”

Frightened, Stephen turned around to go back to his room. Once he was gone, Kylie looked at Ethan and asked him what Stephen was doing in their house, especially without them talking about it first. She was so annoyed that he didn’t tell her earlier.

Ethan strode over to her, kissed her on the mouth, and said, “Stephen is having his house renovated. He will be out of our house as soon as his place was done with all the renovation. I am sorry. I should have told you, but it was a last-minute thing. He had made other arrangements, but they unexpectedly fell through.”

Ethan kissed her again, but she couldn’t get into it. Unexpectedly, every time their mouths touched, she found herself thinking about having laid on bed by him, and she couldn’t stop herself from blushing. Ethan was strong, rough, protective, and kinky. She could never imagine Ethan being into Bondage, Dominance, Sadism, and Masochism – and she felt safe in his arm. There were things about Ethan too that she couldn’t explain. His inner strength is always different from the normal human has, though she saw that her husband had a regular exercise routine, yet it still couldn’t alter her suspicion.

She was soft and smelled so sweet for him. When they had touched each other, it was something different like an electric shock, and it was true what they said: only a woman could ever properly please a man. She tried to remember the last time she’d had her head between Ethan’s legs, crawling up to his hard member, and realized that she wanted to be there again.

As Ethan moved in to kiss her again, Stephen’s door opened. Embarrassed, he closed the door quickly, and Kylie used this as an opportunity to pull away.

“Ethan Parker, next time you let your sworn- brother came to our house without my permission, you’ll sleep on the couch the whole month,” A clear warning came from her mouth.

“What did I tell you?” Ethan shouted as he pounded on Stephen’s door. “I told you to stay in your room until you are called upon. Don’t forget that I am helping you out of the kindness of my heart. If you didn’t listen, though, I would have no qualms about kicking you out!”

When Ethan turned around, he found that Kylie was gone. He went downstairs and found her in the kitchen, preparing a sandwich. “My brother is an excellent cook,” he said. “If you are ever hungry, tell him, and he will make something for you.”

“Is he as good a cook as you are?” Kylie wondered.

“Much better,” Ethan laughed. “Do you have any plans for the day?”

“I have a shareholder’s meeting,” she replied. “If I don’t leave right away, I will be late.”

“That’s too bad,” Ethan said as he shrugged his shoulders. “I had hoped that we could spend the day together…

“Once I come back, we’ll spend time together,” she said.

Ethan grabbed her again and kissed her lips, “You were so drunk last night, and I felt annoyed seeing you talking to Bethany,”

“Hold it, honey. It was just a game!” she smiled at him yet, she still could feel Bethany’s seductive whispers to hers. It brings a shiver to her spine cause she knew Bethany is a lesbian.

Before Ethan could say another word, he stuck a sandwich unto his mouth,” It tastes good! I didn’t know you can make a sandwich like this,”

She didn’t answer, instead kissed him back.

***

Kylie was the last person to arrive for the meeting, and Laurence wasn’t impressed. Kylie looked at the clock and said, “I am not late. I am just on time.”

“In this business,” Laurence snapped, “if you aren’t early, then you are late. Consider that to be the first of many lessons to come.”

Once Kylie was seated, one of the older shareholders stood up and said, “Now that we are all here, let’s get this meeting started. He pointed to Laurence and said, “As of yet, none of us know why this meeting was called. I know that some of us have our fingers crossed in the hope that there will be a bonus coming our way so, before everyone gets their hopes too high, the floor is yours.”

The old man sat down as Laurence stood up. He was about to speak when Kylie stood up, looked at Laurence, and said, “Whatever you have to say, you can hold it. Once I’ve had my say, you might find that you actually don’t have anything worth saying.”

One of the members scowled and said, “You have made a grievous error in assuming you have a voice at this table. You have been invited as a guest. This is a shareholder’s meeting. Only shareholders have a voice here. The more shares that you have, the more say that you have. Since you have no shares, you have no say. I hope that I have made myself clear!”

Kylie smiled confidently and said, “I am surprised. Didn’t President Finch tell you the exciting news?”

The shareholders all looked at Laurence expectantly. One person asked him, “What is the exciting news?”

Laurence looked down at the table with fear in his eyes. “Kylie owns ten percent of the shares,” he muttered.”

Hearing the news, most of the shareholder’s faces turned a light shade of green. In the past, they had been unkind to Kylie. The realization that Kylie now had more control than they did frighten them. Some of them looked happy, though. These were the ones who weren’t happy with the way things had been going lately and were optimistic about having Kylie on board.

Chapter 198: I Have A Proposal

The secretary looked at the board members and said, “I don’t know why you people are getting your panties in a bunch. Ten percent is not nearly enough to take the helm!”

Kylie glared at the secretary and said, “The amount of power a person has is, as you’ve said, determined by how many shares they have.”

The secretary nodded, and Kylie continued. “Have everyone count their shares, and we can determine, once and forever, where the power lies.”

It was a simple request, one that Laurence couldn’t deny, but it struck fear in his heart.

“Before we get to that, though,” Kylie said, “there is one thing we need to look at.”

Having said that, she pulled a manila envelope from her bag; she took a document out of the envelope and passed it around. “As you can see,” Kylie said, “whoever has the most shares is an almost moot point. If the company were to be compared to the Titanic, Laurence is the captain who runs it into an iceberg.

“Look at the numbers,” she continued. “The numbers don’t lie. As you can see, over the last five years, Laurence has gambled every single cent’s worth of profit into promoting his daughter. The result has been that the company has been hemorrhaging money, sending more of it out than we could ever hope to bring in.”

Laurence shook his finger at her and hissed, “I cannot believe that you dared to have me investigated! You really are some kind of devil – I hope you burn in hell forever.”

At this, Kylie laughed and said, “I don’t even believe in hell. You really are a joke.”

One of the shareholders pounded on the table with his fist like a gavel. “Quiet,” he shouted. “Let’s all give our president a chance to explain. Perhaps there is a piece of this puzzle that we are missing. Khloe may be his daughter, but, surely he knows enough to not let his paternal feelings affect his judgment. He has always been professional in the past, so let’s at least hear him out now!”

“When it comes to Khloe,” Kylie laughed, “Laurence has always been prejudiced in her favor. Just look at her portfolio. It is in the documents that I’ve passed around. Khloe has starred in many of our projects, but there hasn’t been a single one that has turned a profit!”

Seeing how everyone had turned against him, Laurence felt awfully small. He looked around the table and said, “None of you know how hard it is to be the president of a company. I am human, and I make mistakes the same as every other person does. Even Donald Trump makes mistakes, but at least I am man enough to admit when I’ve made them… We may have lost a bit of money, but I still believe we are headed in the right direction. If we continue to do as we’ve been doing, I think we will turn a profit over the next quarter, and the value of our company will steadily increase!

“From now on,” Laurence continued, “I would like to make Kylie a manager of the company. Seeing how she has collected all of this data for us, I would like to utilize her talents in this area. Along with this responsibility, she should run one of our departments.”

“That sounds good,” Kylie replied. “I will, of course, need a team. After all the favoritism you have shown towards Khloe, I think we can all agree that she should no longer be under your supervision. Moving forward, I think that the only way to retain her as a part of our stable of actors would be to put her under someone else’s supervision. If there are no objections, I offer my services at this time.”

“No!” Laurence shouted. “As I just said, Khloe is an important asset to us all. You can select a few new artists and creators, but Khloe is not up for grabs!”

Kylie laughed out loud and shook her head. “President Finch, I haven’t finished yet.”

Laurence’s face darkened, but he waved his hand and told her to go on.

Kylie quickly said, “I also want Lily.”

“Why would you want Lily?” Laurence demanded to know. “While filming The Tea Maiden, the two of you did not get along…”

I want her because I see potential in her that isn’t being cultivated presently. You are right that we don’t like each other, but, unlike you, I don’t let these kinds of things keep me from acting in a professional manner.”

“Fine,” Laurence snapped. “She is yours. Since you have your own team now, you will be expected to bring in an average of one million dollars monthly. If you can do that, you will be allowed to continue to run the department independently, and you will earn three percent of the revenue as a salary. Annually, you would be making more than one million dollars, plus a year-end bonus. If you can’t manage that, you must surrender your autonomy and do as you are told – and you would no longer be welcome at this table!”

“Based on what you’ve just said,” Kylie replied. “You expect me to take a stable full of nobody’s and bring in an exorbitant amount of money; meanwhile, your stable is full of famous seasoned stars, and you are hemorrhaging money. Last month alone, you lost the company 3. 2 million dollars.

“I have a proposal,” Kylie continued. “I will accept your million dollar challenge, with one condition: If my novice team and I bring in one million dollars or more, then you will give me ten percent of your shares and surrender your seat at this table.”

Hearing this, Laurence’s face turned red. He had thought that he’d been setting Kylie up to fall into his trap. All the while, she had been leading him into an even larger trap of her own design. Looking around the table, he realized that he had no choice but to accept her proposition.

Laurence sighed and offered Kylie his hand. He frowned and said, “I agree. I will have the company lawyer to draw up a contract for us to sign. We call all meetings in this room monthly to review our progress.”

Chapter 199: Her Office

Kylie met Laurence’s eyes as she sat down and said, “I have some news that I think everyone here will appreciate; I have been nominated for an Oscar.”

Laurence frowned and said, “How can that be?”

Kylie smiled and said, “My invitation is on the last page that I’ve passed around. It turns out that The Tea Maiden has been a bit of an overnight sensation. The DVD box set is set for release in two weeks, and there have already been millions of pre-orders on Amazon alone!”

The shareholders nodded in satisfaction. It appeared that, from that project alone, without lifting a finger, much of Kylie’s monthly goal would be met.

“Perhaps,” one of the shareholders suggested, “you are just what this company needs at this time. I know that I, for one, am very grateful to have you on board.”

Kylie smiled shyly as she took her papers and put them back into her manila envelope. “I have to go now,” she said, “but I will see you all in a month.”

***

Once Laurence had a moment to himself, he used it to ponder what had happened in the boardroom. He was furious that, after everything he’d done to try to get an invitation for Khloe to the Oscars, Kylie had been the one to receive the invitation. It was just unfair.

He had tried to catch Kylie in a trap of his own design, but she’d turned it against him, and her confidence had been unnerving. He was thinking about this when someone knocked on his door. He looked up and saw that it was Khloe.

Khloe came in and said, “I just ran into Kylie. It was unpleasant. She was dressed all in black. I asked her why she was dressed up like a crow, and she had the nerve to say that she’d rather look like a crow than a piece of dog shit. Be that as it may or may not be, I reminded her that it was me, not her, who had received an invitation to the Oscars. You should fire her!”

Laurence frowned and said, “I wish that I could fire her. She owns ten percent of the company, though, so I cannot fire her. In fact, as of today, Lily will be working under her, and there is nothing that I can do about it…”

Laurence looked at what Khloe was wearing, and he could see why Kylie had made a comment about her dress. “Why are you wearing that?” he wondered.

Khloe explained that it was the dress she was wearing to the Oscars, and she wanted to see what he thought of it. Laurence frowned and said, “It is really awful. Go change into something else. Your dress is giving me a headache… You should burn it.”

Khloe pursed her lips and looked down at her dress. She had loved the dress and couldn’t believe how wrong she’d been.

“Once you’re changed,” Laurence continued, “you can meet me in my office.”

As it happened, Khloe arrived before her father, so she didn’t know what to think when she saw Lucas directing movers as they emptied the office next to her father’s. She approached Lucas and asked him what was going on.

Suddenly Kylie emerged from the office and said, “This is my new office. Isn’t it obvious that I would want everything taken out so that I can move my stuff in?”

Khloe frowned and asked her who had told her she could have the office. “If anyone should have it,” she said, “it should be me!”

Before Kylie could answer, though, Laurence arrived. He looked at Khloe and said, “Now that Kylie is a shareholder and also a manager, it is only right that I give her this office.”

“I don’t care about that,” Khloe cried. “I have asked for that room many times, but you always said no, so I don’t understand why you’re giving it to Kylie. Does this mean that you love her more than you love me?”

“Don’t be so fucking dramatic,” he scolded her. “This is business.”

Just then, Kylie asked Lucas if her nameplate was completed. Lucas smiled and said that it was and that it would be set up within the hour. “As you requested,” Lucas said, “I have amended it to say, KYLIE’S OFFICE Laurence and Khloe are not welcome.”

Khloe stomped on the ground and began to have a childish tantrum. With tears in her eyes, she looked at her father and asked him if he would stand for such a show of disrespect.

“Just do your fucking job,” Laurence scolded her. “You are embarrassing both of us. Every time you act like this, I swear, you take a year off of my life!”

It took another two hours before Kylie’s office was emptied and set up to her specific specifications. Feeling proud of what she’d accomplished in just a short time, she shut the door and lay back on the couch opposite the desk. She closed her eyes and, without intending too, she fell asleep.

About an hour later, Kylie woke up to the vibrations of her phone. She pulled it out of her pocket and saw that she’d received a text message from Lucas. It said, “That was pretty ballsy what you did today. I am concerned, though. I am not sure you can make your goals with a stable full of unknowns. Furthermore, I don’t understand why you asked for Lily. She hates you. Aren’t you concerned that she might continue to work for Khloe, but secretly – if that were the case, she could easily sabotage anything that you attempt to accomplish over the next few months.”

“Don’t worry,” Kylie replied. “I have a plan that takes all of that into consideration. You will just have to trust me. Aside from that, though, I do not think Lily is as loyal to Khloe as she appears to be. When you look at the way Khloe has been slandered in the media, I am convinced that the only person who is close enough to her to be the ‘Anonymous Informant’ who is so often quoted.”

Chapter 200: The Truth Will Come Out Eventually

Someone knocked on her door, so she put her phone away and said, “Come in.”

Kylie frowned when she saw that it was Khloe. She had a plant in her hands. “You must be illiterate,” Kylie said. “The plaque on my door is clear. You are not welcome here!”

Khloe’s face turned red, but she pressed on. She walked into the room, placed the plant on a table, and said, “I have brought you a little housewarming present. I mean no harm. Furthermore, I am tired of all this bickering. I would like to put it behind us. Obviously, we will never be bosom buddies, but I would like to foster a mutually beneficial working relationship.”

Kylie sighed and said, “I am agreeable to your suggestion. Don’t take this the wrong way, though, but I am exhausted, and I am going to have to ask you to leave…”

After humbling herself before Kylie, Khloe could not believe that she was being dismissed so soon. She glared at Kylie, picked up the plant, and smashed it on the floor. “You obviously aren’t taking me seriously,” she snapped, “so I retract my peace proposal. If you think you are going to be successful, you will be greatly disappointed. The only advice I can give you now is this: go kill yourself!

“If you insist on there being a rivalry between up,” Khloe continued, “so be it. I could have helped you, but now I will just sit on the sidelines and watch you self-destruct. By this time, next year, I will be your boss, and you will be nothing. You will be a pariah. Even Aiden won’t want you.”

Kylie was just about to reply when Laurence appeared in the doorway. He looked at Khloe and said, “What the fuck are you doing here?”

“I came to apologize,” Khloe replied, “but she scolded me and smashed the plant I gave her. If you don’t believe me, you can ask my assistant… She saw it all!”

Laurence turned to Kylie and asked if that was true. Kylie just shrugged and said, “It isn’t, but I don’t care if you believe me or not. Your opinion means nothing to me.”

Laurence’s face turned red with anger, and he moved towards Kylie with the intention to hurt her. Before he got more than two steps forward, though, he tripped on the pot and fell to the ground. Watching this unfold, Kylie couldn’t help but laugh. She enjoyed watching giants fall. Khloe, on the other hand, hunkered down in fear. “Daddy,” she cried, “Are you alright?”

Khloe looked at Kylie and said, “This is entirely your fault!”

Kylie shrugged and said, “You were the one who smashed the pot. Take responsibility for your actions.” She turned to Khloe’s assistant and said, “Make yourself useful. Call an ambulance.”

The assistant nodded and pulled her phone out of her pocket.

Kylie looked at Khloe again and said, “He is bleeding much worse than I’d first realized. It looks severe. He must have cut himself on a piece of the broken pot. I shouldn’t have laughed. I know First Aid and C. P. R., though. If you move aside, I will save his life.”

By the time the ambulance arrived, Kylie had successfully stopped the bleeding. Unfortunately, by that time, he had lost too much blood. First, he lost consciousness, and then he stopped breathing. The first paramedic on the scene took one look at Kylie and said, continue doing compression while I run back for our defibrillators.”

Once the paramedics had Laurence breathing again, they transferred him to the ambulance. Before they left for the hospital, one of them turned to Kylie and said, “You did a good thing today. He wouldn’t have lived if not for your quick thinking.”

Khloe felt like she’d been waiting at the hospital forever. She’d chewed her nails to the quick as she mumbled quietly to herself. She was pacing the hallways when Laurence’s doctor finally emerged. Nervous, she rushed the doctor and asked him if her father was alright.

“The wound on his arm has been treated. He is old, though, and he has lost a lot of blood. At the very least, he will need to remain here for at least a few days. If you haven’t done so already, you should go to the front desk and fill out his profile. It is too early for him to have visitors anyway, so you may as well make use of your time while you wait.”

Kylie, who had been sitting close by, got up and said, “Don’t worry. I will take care of the paperwork.”

Khloe glared at her and said, “Don’t pretend that you’re a good person. Everyone can see through it. You should be responsible for all of the medical expenses. This is your fault.”

Kylie scoffed. “How could this be my fault? If it weren’t for my quick thinking, our father would be dead, and you know it – so shut your fucking mouth! Your breath smells like cock and balls.”

Lucas approached Kylie in the hallway. He stopped her and said, “It doesn’t matter what Kylie or her assistant says about what happened. Neither of them knows that there is a security camera in the hallway outside your office. I captured everything that happens, from Khloe throwing the pot, to Laurence tripping on his own, and you gave him First Aid and C. P. R. – don’t say anything though. The more people she tells her lies to, the more she will look foolish when the truth finally comes out.”

By the time Kylie returned to the waiting room, the doctor had cleared Laurence to have visitors. When she entered, she found Laurence lying on his bed. He looked gaunt. There was a blood bag on a hook above him that fed his right arm. On the other side of him, Khloe was hand-feeding him ice chips.

When Khloe saw Kylie, she looked at her father and said, “Dad, you really scared me. If you’d died, I don’t know how I could have gone on without you. You have to admit, though, that this was all Kylie’s fault. If it weren’t for her, you wouldn’t be in this predicament.”

Kylie just shrugged and said, “The truth will come out eventually.”

Khloe suddenly looked afraid. “What does that mean?” she demanded.

Kylie laughed and said, “You will see.”
