Chapter 221: Khloe Trying To Kill Her Father

As they walked through the hospital hallways in the direction of the elevator, Khloe turned to Alice and said, “We should visit dad again tomorrow. We can’t let Kylie stay at his side. He should be awake as early as possible, time is running, and I can’t stand seeing Kylie leading the entertainment world while I was being humiliated,”

Alice nodded and said, “Don’t worry, my dear daughter, your father, will be okay soon. Staying with him often would be nice.”

One of the doctors escorted them, and Khloe suddenly realized that she’d left her cell phone in her father’s room. She looked at the Doctor and said. “I left my handy back there. Could you wait with my mom while I run back for it?”

“No problem,” the Doctor replied. “I am always happy to help.”

As she passed Kylie in the hallway, Khloe casually threw her elbow into her gut. When Kylie bent over in pain, Khloe gasped and said, “Oh, I am so sorry. I didn’t mean to bump into you. You stand at the hallway where I pass by,”

“Whatever, you have always been a wicked human, no wonder you never do good when you see me near you,” Kylie grumbled as she straightened. She was in incredible pain, but she didn’t want to give Khloe the pleasure of seeing her suffer. This evil half-sister of her will get her on retribution at the right time.

When Khloe got to Laurence’s bedroom, she made it look like she was looking on either side of his bed. She wasn’t, though. What she did was take his monitors from his fingers and put them on her own. “Where is that phone?” she grumbled, in case anyone was listening.

As she scurried around, she casually stepped on the soft tubing that fed her father oxygen. It wasn’t more than a minute before he went into convulsions. Khloe looked up and said, “What does that mean,” and when no one responded, she continued as if she did not recognize the danger that her father was in. “Crazy,” she laughed. “I wonder if I forgot my keys in the car… Old man, you should be aware that your life will end soon. You didn’t help me at all; instead, you let disappointed me,”

Alice, Duncan, and the Doctor had waited for a long while, and Khloe still hadn’t returned. Kylie looked at her watch and said, “I’ll go see what’s taking her so long?”

Kylie jogged down the hallway and rounded the corner that led to where her father was staying. She arrived at his door, and as she looked through the window, she noticed three things simultaneously. Her father was convulsing. His monitors seemed oblivious, as did Khloe, her sister.

“Code White!” she cried. “Code White! All hands on deck! My father is convulsing, and his monitors are malfunctioning! What’s going on?”

Two doctors came running into the Intensive Care Unit. Khloe was on the far side of the bed and determined to keep her foot on the tube until the last possible second. Before her eyes, she watched her father’s blood drain from his face, and it took all of her willpower to keep from smiling. By the time the doctors arrived, she’d thrown the finger monitors to the ground. Let the doctors think they came off while he was seizing, she figured.

One Doctor looked at Khloe and shouted, “Get out! We don’t need other people inside this room!”

On her way out the door, Kylie grabbed her and pushed her up against the wall. She pressed her tight to it so that nobody could see her rabbit punching her sister. In fact, if anything, they might think the one was consoling the other.

“I can’t prove it,” Kylie hissed, “but I saw you standing on Dad’s oxygen tube. I know that you were trying to kill him, and when all is said and done, you will rue the day that you tried to dethrone the patriarch of this family. Furthermore, I spoke to his doctor, and he said, Dad, can possibly recover soon. Bitch! You have done so much evil act. You lied!”

Kylie spat in Khloe’s face and let her fall to the ground. Khloe wanted to pull Kylie’s hair and fight against her, but she knew that she couldn’t stand against her when Kylie started to fight back.

When Kylie returned to the elevator, she told everyone everything but omitting Khloe’s part in it. She had already decided that she would stand as judge, jury, and executioner.

“It was very scary,” Khloe cried and felt exhausted. “If I hadn’t been there, he might have died!”

Tears were streaming down Alice’s face pretending she was about Laurence’s situation, and Khloe knew that it’s Alice’s drama all along, so she decided to quickly moved to comfort her. They had not embraced each other for many years, but it felt right – like coming home. They pulled away after a moment, and Alice asked Khloe where Kylie had been while all of this had been going on.

“It was weird,” Khloe replied. “She was just standing there as if she were completely oblivious as to what was going on around her. I can’t describe it, but to see her there like that was very unsettling… She doesn’t care about Dad’s condition,”

“Well, we can’t expect any sympathy from that woman because she hated Laurence. I might think she waited the right time your father will die,” Alice said furiously.

Khloe quickly nodded, pretending she had done nothing awhile ago. She almost succeeded in killing their father, but her sister suddenly appeared.

She quickly responded, “We needed to be more attentive from now on. We can’t let Kylie stand beside Dad.”

“Yeah, you’re right. We should be on your father’s side, so when he wakes up, he will realize that we never left him alone,” Alice said abruptly.

Khloe nodded and guided her mother to sit at the bench along the hallway. They waited for the Doctor to come out from Laurence’s private room. She silent cursed Kylie’s sudden arrival earlier that saved their father’s life.

Chapter 222: I Am Very Anxious

As soon as the news was passed on, everyone decided to stay at the hospital until they received more information. Kylie called Ethan up and tell him the full story. Of course, once he heard that Khloe had tried to murder their father, he wanted to expose her, but Kylie calmed him down, he saw the wisdom in Kylie’s plan. “I suppose we can’t prove it anyway,” he conceded.

A few hours later, a doctor came out and said that Laurence would make it, and almost everyone sighed in relief. Duncan looked around the room and said, “Since everyone is here to witness this, I am relinquishing the forged will to Kylie. Everyone here should know that if push came to shove, I would be willing to testify in a court of law to the extent that Khloe and Alice are willing to go in order to attain that which is not theirs. Furthermore, it wouldn’t surprise me if Khloe was somehow responsible for what has happened tonight.”

Hearing this, Khloe’s face turned a pale shade of green. She looked at him and Duncan and said, “You are nothing but a fucking Judas!”

Duncan laughed and offered her his hand. “If so, I want my thirty pieces of silver!”

***

The next day Tom gathered up their daily necessities and turned to Dora, who was doing her makeup in the bathroom. He said, “Dora, the discharge procedure is done.”

“Did you notify Lord Ethan?” she wondered.

Tom leaned on the door and said, “He will be here soon. In my opinion, though, we should hire a murderer to kill Kylie and just get it over with.”

“Shut up!” Dora screamed as she put a perfume bottle into her cosmetic bag. “You know about Lord Ethan’s temper. If we hurt Kylie, wherever we went, he would find us and kill us. Is that what you want? Besides, I don’t think he actually loves her anyways.”

“Well,” Tom laughed, “if he doesn’t love her, then she is nothing. Really, all we need to do is find out what Ethan hates and blackmail Kylie into doing it. Then Ethan will throw her away like the piece of trash that she is.”

Tom stopped smiling and took out a pair of shoes for Dora. He said, “Dora, I just bought these shoes for you. Try them on.”

“Why, thank you,” Dora replied as she tried the shoes on. She stood up, and just as she began to walk around the room in them, Lord Ethan appeared in the doorway.

“Nice shoes,” he said.

“They are very comfortable,” Dora replied. “Tom bought them for me.”

Tom came around the corner to say hi. Ethan looked Tom in the eyes and said, “You’d better take good care of Dora. If you neglect her, you will have to deal with me.”

Tom nodded respectfully.

Dora smiled and said, “Tom is always very nice. In fact, I want to offer him a job at the company.”

“It is up to you.” Ethan shrugged. “Do you have any updates regarding our progress with Director Miller?”

“Everything goes well,” Dora replied. He chose Jess to be the lead actress. With her, we are guaranteed to bring in the big bucks!”

“Is there anything else?” Ethan wondered.

Dora sighed and said, “There is always more. Who can keep up with it? I heard that the boss of Garcia Entertainment is ill. Should we take the opportunity to try to acquire more stocks?”

Ethan frowned and said, “Do not meddle with Garcia Entertainment. I have my own plan for them. It will take time, but it will be worth it in the end.”

“On that note,” Dora said, “I think that I will go. Time flies, you know?”

Dora grabbed her coat and headed into the hallway. Just as she walked past the door, though, she was bumped by a woman with a hat. “Hey,” she snapped, “Watch out. Are you blind?”

“Sorry,” the woman stammered, “I am just very anxious. I should have been watching where I was going.”

Dora looked up and was speechless when she saw that the woman who’d bumped her was actually Kylie. “You…” she gasped. She looked back at Ethan. He looked unhappy, but he did not look surprised.

Kylie walked past her to where Ethan was standing and said, “I’ve found you. Why didn’t you wait for me? I thought that we were doing this together…”

Ethan glanced at her and took her hand into his own. “I look away for a minute,” she laughed, “and you disappear!”

Ethan smiled and said, “You took so long. You shouldn’t be surprised that I ran into somebody that I know.”

Dora watched them unhappily, but she kept the contempt from her eyes or expression.

Kylie looked at Dora and said, “I am glad to see that you are up and about. I hope that you weren’t persuaded to accept an early discharge for the sake of saving money… I know that Ethan is your loyal friend. I am sure that if you needed help, that he would have given it to you.”

The more Kylie said… the angrier Dora got.

It wasn’t long before Tom emerged, and he was amazed to see Kylie there. Tom waved to Ethan and Ethan waved back. Ethan looked at Kylie and said, “We should be going.”

Everyone nodded, and everyone padded to the elevator. Kylie got in first, followed by Ethan, and then Dora and Tom. Once the door closed, Kylie looked at Dora and asked her if Tom was her boyfriend. Hearing this, Tom’s expression changed instantly. He glanced at Dora, but he did not dare to speak.

Dora stood at the outermost part of the elevator. Without turning around, she said, “He is my friend.”

“Oh…”Kylie responded simply. Then she looked at Ethan with a smile and said, “They are wearing matching shoes, so I thought they were a couple…”

“I guess you were wrong,” Ethan sighed.

Dora hadn’t realized that Tom had bought them matching shoes but, when she looked at his feet, she saw that it was true. Her face turned red with embarrassment, and she called Tom a big galoot. The air in the elevator had been thick before, but now it was so thick that it could be cut with a knife.

Tom hung his head, and he said, “I bought them for her. I have a pair, and they are very comfortable, so I thought she would like them. I am sorry, but I didn’t take into account what people might think…”

“Oh, fuck off!” Dora snapped.

Chapter 223: I Loved Her But As A Sister

When the elevator reached the next floor, it opened, and a woman came in. She held her son’s hand, and they stood in the center of the elevator. Kylie held Ethan’s hand and felt his fingers stiffen. Then she noticed that Ethan was looking at the thin little boy.

The child was stunted and carried his head low as if he was ashamed that he was alive. It obviously didn’t make it easier for him when people stared, and it made Kylie angry to see Ethan staring at him.

Perhaps this child evoked some childhood memory of Ethan’s, but it didn’t matter to Kylie. “She nudged him and hissed in his ear, “Stop staring. It’s rude! You make him feel uneasy,”

Ethan took a deep breath and closed his eyes. Dora saw his reaction to the boy, and the smile in her eyes quickly disappeared. She hunkered down and spoke to the little boy. “Hey,” she asked him, “how old are you?”

The little boy looked very scared and quickly hid behind his mother’s leg. The boy’s mother looked down and said, “He’s seven years old.”

Dora took out a sugar candy and offered it to the boy, but he turned away, as he had most likely been trained to do. Dora sighed and looked at the boy’s mother again. “What grade is he in?” she wondered.

The boy’s mother frowned and said, “He can’t go to school. He is too afraid of what other kids would think when they saw him…”

Dora nodded and asked if he’d had a bad experience with children in the past.

“Not just children,” the boy’s mother replied, “but adults can be pretty cruel too. None of this is his fault. He was hanging out with his father one day when a car swerved at them suddenly. His dad pushed him out of the way, but not fast enough. He was injured. His father was killed. And the driver was drunk. He staggered out of his car, fit as a fiddle. What my boy saw that day would likely haunt him until the day he dies. Unfortunately, he blamed himself and left a big scar on his memory,”

“He is convinced that if he hadn’t asked his father to play that day,” she continued, “that none of this would have happened. He is a smart boy. Sometimes I think he is too smart for his own good…”

“What happened to the driver?” Dora wondered.

“He got thirty days,” the mother complained, “and they allowed him to serve his time on the weekends. It was nothing more than a slap on the wrist!”

Dora sighed and said, “The system is fucked if you ask me.”

“No doubt,” the mother agreed.

“This must be very hard for the two of you,” Dora said. “I cannot even begin to imagine how hard this must be for you.” Dora stood up and handed the boy’s mother a business card. “I know a good psychiatrist. If you or your son need to talk about this or think he needs medication, call him. He did wonders for when I was sick. There is usually a very long waiting list, but he will make time for you if you mention my name.”

The boy’s mother looked at Dora and said, “Thank you. You are too kind. This will be a big help to my son,”

Dora smiled slightly but, when she turned to Ethan, she saw that he was still staring at the boy, and her smile melted from her face. “Lord Ethan,” she wondered, “are you ok? Why are you still staring at this poor child?”

Ethan shook his head as if to shrug off a daze. “Sorry,” he said as he turned away. “I didn’t sleep well. I was actually just lost in a blank stare. I wasn’t intentionally staring at him.” Ethan looked at the boy and said, “I’m sorry if I upset you.”

The boy’s mother smiled and said, “Don’t worry about it. He usually reacts this way if someone stares at him,”

People came in and out of the elevator on every floor as they descended. All the while, Ethan stood silently in the corner with a gloomy expression on his face. It wasn’t until he was back in the car that he returned to his regular self. He looked at Kylie and said, “When I first arrived at the troupe, I knew nothing, and I was often bullied. Dora was the only person who saw past my awkwardness and helped me through it. If I didn’t perform well on the stage, they would not give me food. Dora was the one who taught me how to perform and, while I was learning, she stole food for me. She was a good friend to me. I love her, but as a sister.”

Kylie held Ethan’s hand tightly and leaned her head on his chest. She knew that, at the moment, the best way to comfort him was to listen silently and say nothing.

“The first time I took the stage,” he continued, “I vomited all over the place. She was the one who took care of me and helped me clean up my mess.”

Kylie listened to his words and to his heartbeat. He was so strong now that she couldn’t imagine him ever being helpless. She couldn’t help but feel a little jealous of Dora. After going through such a tragic moment in their lives, there would always be a bond between them.

Ethan felt bad about the situation. If he were able, he would meet every desire of her heart. The only thing that she wanted, though, was something he could not give her because he had already given his heart to Kylie. Ethan sighed and ran his hands through her hair. He smiled and said, “I love you so much, honey. I only have you,”

Ethan bowed his head and kissed Kylie on her forehead. “No matter what happens,” he said, “I hope that you will never leave me.”

Kylie rubbed his arm and said, “Even if you tried to drive me away, I would never leave your side. Wild horses couldn’t take me away.”

Chapter 224: Your Safety Is My Number One Priority

All the while, as Ethan and Kylie snuggled, Elliot waited patiently outside of the car. Finally, after an hour or so, Ethan rolled the window down and said that they were ready to go. As he climbed into the driver’s seat, Elliot met Ethan’s eyes through the mirror and asked him where he wanted to go.

Kylie looked at Ethan and said, “I haven’t seen Pupu for a long time. Can we go to the Toprak Mansion to pick up Pupu? After that, we could go to the Merlin Villa. What do you think?”

Ethan smiled and said, “As you wish.”

Ethan gave Elliot a meaningful look, and Eliot started the car. Once they were on the road, Ethan turned to Kylie and asked her if she was ready for the shareholders meeting in the morning. When Kylie said that she was, he asked her what she intended to do with her shares.

Kylie gave him a funny look and asked him how he knew about the recently acquired shares. Ethan didn’t answer her question directly. Instead, he said, “If there is anything that you need, please tell me. It would be best if you didn’t have any contact with Ken. Is that clear?”

Kylie nodded and said, “Crystal clear.”

After Ken had attempted to assault Kylie sexually, Ethan had hired someone to break one of his legs and added him to his blacklist. Of course, Ken had tried to circumvent his actions, but to date, every one of his efforts had failed. As for Kylie, she no longer feared Ken, but if Ethan wanted her to stay clear of him, she took no issue with his directive.

Kylie looked at Ethan and asked him if there was still a bodyguard following her.

“Of course,” Ethan replied, “Your safety is my number one priority.”

***

Kylie’s bodyguard was waiting for her when she arrived home with Pupu. As promised, the guard was a woman. Kylie introduced herself, and her first impression of the guard was that she was charming, but she also saw a potential for violence in her eyes.

“My name is Dinah Larson,” the guard said as they shook hands.

As Kylie took her hand away, it suddenly occurred to her that she’d heard the woman’s name before. In her mind, she could practically hear the name flowing from Stephen’s mouth, but the context was lost on her.

Ethan invited Dina to take a seat on the couch, and the three of them made themselves comfortable in the living room. Pupu joyfully wagged his tail and jumped into Kylie’s lap.

Ethan glanced at it. Even though Pupu was a dog, he was jealous of Pupu’s proximity to Kylie, so he scolded the dog and encouraged her to go back to the floor.

Ethan put his hand on Kylie’s shoulder but, just as he made contact, Pupu put his paws back on Kylie’s legs. Dinah sat on the opposite of them, and as she watched their behavior, she burst out laughing. She said, “I bet that Pupu is the only man alive who would dare vie for Ethan’s affection!”

Suddenly a car horn blared from the driveway, and everyone froze. Kylie got up and looked out the window. She looked at everybody and said, “It’s only Stephen, loud as ever. He must be just now returning from the hospital. He has a cell phone in one hand and a briefcase in the other. The operation must have been a success, but he probably still has a lot of work to do…”

Kylie was excited to see how Stephen would react when he saw Dinah.

The first thing Stephen saw when he walked in the door was the unfamiliar set of lady’s military boots in the closet. He poked his head into the living room to say hello, but before he uttered a single sound, he saw Dinah.

Much to Ethan and Kylie’s surprise, Dinah stood up, walked over to Stephen, and kissed him on the mouth. But no one was more surprised that Stephen appeared to be. His face turned red, and he said, “Sorry, but I have to go upstairs. I still have a lot of work to do.”

Stephen moved in the direction of the stairs, but Dinah cut him off. She looked him in the eyes and wondered, “Why are you trying to hide from me? You have nothing to fear from me…”

“I’m not hiding,” Stephen replied. “I have legitimate work to do, and you are holding me back!”

Kylie laughed and said, “There is never a dull moment in this house!” She looked and Ethan and said, “Did you know that they had a previous relationship when you hired her?”

“I did,” Ethan chuckled. “I thought it would be amusing to watch, and it is, but why don’t we go upstairs for now. There will be plenty of time in the future to watch these two go at it like cats and dogs! The game has just begun!”

Pupu followed Ethan and Kylie up the stairs. As he opened the door, Ethan threw a ball down the stairs, and as soon as the dog went after it, Ethan closed the door so he could not come in. Kylie scowled but said nothing. She had learned to pick her battles with Ethan, and she was pretty sure she couldn’t win this one. Whenever his jealousy was involved, she never won.

Kylie could see that Ethan was exhausted, so she offered him a massage. She helped him take off his shirt and had him lie on his stomach. There was some massaging oil in the bathroom. She brought it in, rubbed it into her hands, and began to rub his back. His shoulders, she noted, were full of knots, and she pressed her elbows into his muscles.

Ethan sighed as the tension was released. Once he felt completely relaxed, he rolled over so that he could face Kylie. He ran his eyes over her entire body, and she began to tingle all over. He hadn’t touched her, but she felt as if he’d undressed her with his eyes. She could feel his hands on her body, even though they weren’t. The room was quiet, and there was a subtle tension in the air.

Not knowing what else to do, Kylie began to massage his front. She ran her fingers along with his abs and stretched his arms away from his body so that she could rub his deltoids and triceps. She removed his pants so that she could get to his legs and his feet.

As Kylie massage him, she began to feel horny. The tingling in her body increased, and her heart began to beat faster. She could feel the heat go up into her groin as her wet core became moist. She looked up to Ethan and was shocked to discover that he had fallen asleep. She gently got off of the bed, and her head felt light. This is the worst, she thought to herself, but if he can’t take care of me, then I can take care of myself.

Chapter 225: By All Means

Kylie sat down in the chair by the window, opened the buttons on her pants, and slid her hand inside her panties, searching for that sacred part of her that was both wet and warm.

When Kylie opened the door, she was happy to see Pupu waiting for her. The dog barked with excitement as the door opened, and he went to greet her. Kylie hugged Pupu and looked downstairs and couldn’t believe that Dinah and Stephen were still fighting. In fact, it had actually gotten worse. They had progressed from verbal combat to physical combat. Dinah was throwing punches, and Stephen was doing everything in his power to dodge them.

When Stephen saw Kylie, he looked up at Dinah and said, “I give. I surrender. You win. I have something to talk to Kylie about.”

“Fine,” Dinah said. “I actually need to talk to Kylie as well.”

Stephen smiled and said, “Ladies first. ”

Dinah looked at Kylie and asked her where she’d be sleeping. Kylie nodded and pointed to a room on the main floor. Of course, Stephen was shocked to hear that Dinah was moving in, so Kylie had to explain how she’d been hired to protect her. Dinah asked if she could go check her room out, and Kylie said, “By all means, do!”

As soon as she was gone, Stephen looked at her as if she’d gone insane. He said, “This is madness. I cannot have my ex-girlfriend living beneath me.”

Kylie laughed and said, “Would it be better if she lived with you in your room?”

“Never mind,” Stephen sighed. “I actually do have something to discuss with you that is more important than this.”

Stephen led Kylie into his room, and she was surprised by how quickly he’d unpacked and how much work-related items he’d brought with him. There was a skeleton set up in one corner and medical posters all over the walls. The room was clean, but it didn’t smell like a household cleaner. It smelled like formaldehyde. Kylie looked around and said, “Are you hoping to open a clinic out of your bedroom?”

Stephen sat on a chair and said, “The surgery of your friend’s mother went well. She will be better than new, and as I said I would, I have covered the cost.”

Kylie smiled and thanked him and wondered, “Could you do another favor for me?”

Stephen frowned but said nothing.

“It is not a big thing,” Kylie continued. “I took one of Laurence’s hairs, and I was wondering if you could run our DNA to see if he is actually my father…”

“Does Ethan know about this?” Stephen wondered.

Kylie frowned and said, “He doesn’t. I was hoping to keep it under my hat for the time being. If you insist, though, you may tell him.”

Stephen smiled and said, “With all of the things that I do for you, when will it be time for you to repay me?”

“I can read your mind,” Kylie said. “You want Dinah out of here, and I don’t blame you. It was Ethan’s doing, though, and I lack the authority to undo it.”

Stephen scowled and said, “At least try to keep her out of my way.”

“I will try,” Kylie replied.

***

Since Kylie had been late for the last shareholder’s meeting, she made sure she was extra early this time. In fact, she and Dinah ended up being the first people to arrive. Khloe arrived next, then Duncan, who was accompanied by his assistant, agent, and a few other persons. Of course, most of Duncan’s entourage would have to wait in the hallway.

Kylie and Faith arrived next. When they saw that Kylie was there already, they apologized for being late, but she assured them that they were early, but she’d come earlier.

When Khloe saw Kylie, she walked towards Kylie and pulled back her fist as if she were going to punch. Before she took the swing, though, Dina caught her first and began to apply pressure. She twisted Khloe’s wrist effortlessly and brought her to her knees. “Do you see how easy this was for me?” Dinah Laughed. “Next time, I will break every finger in your hand. Do you understand?”

Khloe nodded, and Dina released her hand in such a way that she landed on her ass. Khloe scurried to her seat as quickly as she could.

Once everyone was seated, the shareholders began to look around. After a minute or so, someone asked where Laurence was. They saw that Khloe had taken his seat and said, “Even if he isn’t here, this is not Khloe’s seat. How dare she? She isn’t even a shareholder!”

Khloe waved to Duncan, and he stood up and said, “Laurence is in the hospital. He is not doing well. His will is that, until he is better, Khloe will act in his stead.”

The shareholders looked at each other and said, “This must be some kind of sick joke. Does anyone know if Khloe can even read? She is an idiot, mean spirited, and ugly from the inside out. This is a travesty. With Khloe at the helm, our company is worthless!”

Duncan cleared his throat and said, “Please keep quiet and listen to me. Laurence did make a living will. It is legal and effective. Everything that I’ve said is true, whether you like it or not!”

The room erupted once again. No one was happy, not even Khloe. She hadn’t realized until now exactly how much everyone hated her.”

One of the older shareholders whispered into Kylie’s ear and said, “Are you willing to set aside and watch Khloe flush your grandfather’s company; his legacy even – down the toilet?”

“I have no choice.”Kylie sighed. “Until Laurence returns, Khloe is in charge.”

“If that is so,” the old man replied, a little bit louder, “I suggest that we all sell our shares before this is made public. As soon as the news gets out, our shares will be worthless…”

Khloe smiled. This was exactly what she’d hoped for.
