Chapter 26: To Deal With Something

Baleney was four hours away, by highway, from Seattle, so it’s impossible that he had set out on hearing about the accident. He must have come to Baleney with Kylie Finch.

But what Aiden didn’t know was that Lord Ethan owned a private helicopter and that he’d come here, by car, as soon as he’d received Nate Bass’ call, about four hours ago.

The surrounded air had become chilly as soon as Ethan Parker had arrived. He strode towards the car in which Kylie was held captive. Aiden withdrew, as though by nature, as soon as Ethan approached him.

Under everyone’s scrutiny, Ethan exactly did as everyone else had done: he raised his hand and knocked at the car window. But still, Kylie did not react.

Upon seeing that, Aiden suddenly felt relieved. Although he had dumped Kylie, he still didn’t like the idea of her being with another man. Especially this one, who was much more powerful than Aiden.

Back at the Parker house, the two had deliberately displayed affection for each other, but now it appeared that this widely-admired Lord Ethan didn’t weigh much in July’s heart. So naturally, Aiden was satisfied to see that Ethan couldn’t do any better than he could.

“But… Kylie.” Ethan knocked at the glass once more. His voice was low and mild: “I’m here.” Right when Aiden was about to smile ironically, the car door was unlocked with a snap. The police officers looked at each other with surprise and excitement in their eyes.

Aiden’s face darkened, while Khloe clenched her teeth and looked on with jealousy. Ethan pulled the car door open and hunched his large body to get inside.

He gently stroked Kylie’s hair, and she didn’t overreact to his movements, although she remained silent and still. Ethan removed his coat and draped it over her shaking body until she finally began to calm down.

The man reached an arm around her, and carried her out of the car, in a mild yet determined manner.

Aiden’s eyes became dark, instinctively wanting to stop him. But her expression remained indifferent to the motion.

At the same time, Ethan harshly glanced forward. “If you had planned to pick her up because you were worried about her, then why did you send along a rapist to do the job?”

Ethan’s arms were wrapped around Kylie; she was as light as a doll.

Noticing Khloe, who was clutching her nightgown nearby, his eyes became even colder, and even a little savage. “I don’t want to repeat myself, but whoever hurts my woman should know the consequences.”

Aiden’s face changed. This man was reminding him that Kylie was Ethan’s woman and that Ethan was also Aiden’s senior! Aiden looked at Kylie, lying quietly against this man’s chest, with embarrassment.

“Uncle Ethan,” he began, “I drank a little this afternoon, and lost the car key… I…”

Ethan sneered. “If that’s the case, then you must not know the criminal.”

“I don’t know him,” Aiden answered with surety. He honestly didn’t know Ken White, but Khloe was so worried that Ken would reveal his relationship to her. “I’ll handle it,” Aiden continued, uncertainly.

“No sweat. I’ll take care of my woman,” Ethan responded. But Aiden started sweating under Ethan’s icy gaze. Khloe couldn’t help but step forward and hurriedly explain: “Uncle Ethan, please don’t blame Aiden…”

The man glanced towards her before she could finish, and Khloe immediately fell silent under the threatening pair of eyes that seemed not to care for anyone in this world.

Ethan didn’t utter a word more and directly carried his woman back to his car, without making eye contact with anyone else.

The police officers discovered that the victim was already gone by the time they could finally react.

The faint smell of tobacco spread through the vehicle. It was completely quiet in the car. Ethan lowered his eyes and observed the woman who was leaning against the back seat.

“I’m sorry for letting you be in danger.” Kylie shook her head with her eyes closed. Ethan was silent for a while, then asked: “How do you want to deal with that man?”

Kylie pulled his jacket closer to her chin. She tilted her head a little to the side and stared ahead with empty, cat-like eyes. “It’s up to you.”

“No problem,” the man responded.

Ethan put in his Bluetooth earphones and began dialing with his long, slender fingers. All the while, he held the steering wheel with one hand and continued to stare straight ahead.

“Investigate that man,” Ethan said, once the connection had been reached.

Nate Bass’s airy voice came through: “Already done. Ken White: an underling in Seattle, likes to fool around and enjoy himself.”

“Why was he in Baleney?”

“I suppose he had an eye out for Kylie for quite a while now. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you-he’s Khloe’s cousin, on her mother’s side.”

Ethan hung up the phone and tossed it into the armrest. He didn’t send Kylie back to where the movie crew was sleeping, for fear that it would affect Kylie’s rest. Instead, he brought her directly to his own room in Baleney.

“Have we arrived?” She opened her eyes, feeling the car come to a halt. Ethan stepped out of the vehicle and walked towards the other side to open the passenger door.

Kylie’s feet hurt so much that she trembled when she stepped onto the ground. The man, lowering his head, discovered that the soles of her feet were caked in mud. He hugged her and gently pushed the door shut with his knee.

Kylie was leaning in his arms. Half her hair covered her face, and the other half was loose against his chest. Her voice was very low when she spoke: “Lord Ethan.”

“Um?” Even though he’s answered with a mere syllable, the sound made her feel secure in the heart. All her aggrieved feelings began to well up; she was almost crying.

She didn’t say anything more, but the man seemed to sense everything in her heart. His arms tightened their grip on her, and his warm voice sounded through the cool night: “Have a good sleep, and leave the rest to me.” Kylie’s arms tightly circled his neck, and her soft hair was rubbing his chin.

They were in a small, two-story, retro building. The wood creaked when someone stepped on the stairs. Filled with the pleasant scent of his body, Kylie suddenly felt exhausted. “Why did you suddenly show up? How did you know?” Her voice was so light, and it was likely to blow away in the night wind.

After a while, he responded with ease: “To deal with something.”

Kylie nodded and mumbled: “Something to do with a woman?”

As soon as the door to his room opened, she heard the man’s faint, warm voice: “Something to do with you.”

Chapter 27: She Is So Gorgeous

Kylie was gently laid out on the sofa. She took off the coat and looked at the man, asking: “Am I really dirty?”

“Nothing you can’t clean.” Ethan’s eyes darkened a little and pointed towards the bathroom.

Watching her shamed silhouette disappear from sight, he hung up the coat and turned to the bedroom.

Kylie was sitting at the bottom of the tub, letting the water from the shower pour over her head and down her cold body. It wasn’t until the water temperature had dramatically increased, and the dense fog had gathered in the bathroom, that the coldness in her bones began to disappear.

Probably because her nervous feelings had been partially relieved, Kylie gradually began to feel sleepy.

Ethan had tidied the bedroom and checked the time. Kylie had been in the bathroom for a very long time. He walked to the door and gently knocked. “Kylie, don’t take a shower for too long, or you’ll get a cold. Kylie Finch?”

“Yes,” a weak voice responded through the door, after several moments.

Kylie had actually fallen asleep. She dried herself off with a bath towel but felt puzzled when she felt her feet. The soles of her feet had abrasions that deeply hurt her. She put on a pair of men’s slippers so that they wouldn’t be so sore and limped out of the bathroom.

Ethan was sitting on the couch, reading a newspaper. He didn’t turn his head when he heard the sound of the door, but he watched her back as she walked away from him.

She was only wearing a short bath towel. Her bare white shoulders and slim arms turned Ethan on. He stood up and followed her, carrying an ointment to help with her feet.

Kylie walked carefully, but the slippers were too large, and they had become slippery on the wet bathroom floor, so the slippers kept flying forward. Unable to walk fast, Kylie could only move with great difficulty. But because of the difficult slippers, she fell over.

Ethan, who had been following her, rushed ahead and swiftly reached out his arms to hold her in a steady hug. But Kylie continued to feel cold, and then realized something.

She slowly looked down at her body, while Ethan began to realize the same thing. His body froze within a second.

Kylie dully looked at Ethan, and the two continued to stare at each other for over thirty seconds.

Then Kylie screamed, as though a needle had pricked her entire body. Her hands tried to cover her body, and she unconsciously yelled, in a panic: “You… Close your eyes!”

Her face turned bright red. Damn it, and the bath towel had fallen at the worst possible time! What’s worse, Ethan was unknowingly stepping on the bath towel, so she couldn’t even retrieve it. She couldn’t manage to cover her entire body, no matter how hard she pulled.

Ethan’s gaze remained on her bare body, and he stiffened. His slim lips opened, and he spoke with hoarseness that he had never experienced before “… I won’t look.”

He said that, but his eyes continued their fixation on her body. Kylie was extremely shy and embarrassed. “Leave me alone… you, you… you can leave right now!” Kylie spoke angrily.

Ethan pretended that his eyes were completely closed, as he placed the naked woman down on the bed, turned around, and walked out of the bedroom. Kylie’s black hair, all wet and loose, accentuated her white, smooth, and glaring skin-which resembled a husked egg with tons of collagen.

Kylie trembled at the sound of the shutting door, then opened her eyes. She wanted to find some clothing to wear, but the only thing she had was torn apart.

So, Kylie could merely clench her teeth, and go through Ethan’s suitcase for something to wear. It was safer to wear ugly, loose-fitting clothes when alone in a room with a man.

Ethan’s heart was still racing, even long after he’d been sitting on the couch. He didn’t know when he’d first clenched his hands into fists, but they were so tight that veins popped out of his arms.

He tried to close his eyes and calm himself down, but the image of her naked body kept appearing in his mind. Kylie was slim, but not skinny. Her ample breasts were like ripe peaches, half-covered by her long, black hair.

If an accident like that happened again, Ethan wasn’t sure that he’d be able to control himself from reaching down and kissing her boobs. Kylie was so gorgeous!

Chapter 28: That Would Be Inconvenient

The innocent and alluring woman, with the pair of panicked deer eyes, looked at him-and he knew that she had awakened the beast that had been asleep for years within the boy.

The tip swollen and hurt, and he had to push away the thoughts he was having. He took a deep breath, then breathed out. His Adam’s apple moved up and down several times, and he sighed loudly while breathing out.

Half an hour has passed.

Kylie hesitated for a while, but she eventually decided to walk out of the bedroom with her body fully covered in clothing.

She was wearing a man’s shirt, with the lower half tied around her waist and long pants, with the trouser legs rolled up. A small part of the ankle was visible, but that’s it.

Her hair was still dripping wet, so she casually dabbed at it with a towel. Even in such an ill-fitting suit, one could see her body’s natural beauty, to some extent.

Kylie could see the man sitting on the couch, as soon as she opened the door. His head was slightly drooped, revealing the neatly cut hairline on his neck. She couldn’t tell if he was dozing or reading through something.

Just as she was about to say something, the man raised his head and turned towards her, hearing the sound of the door opening. His eyes were still dark.

The two stared at each other. Kylie lost all self-esteem as she looked at his eyes. Her mind emptied, and she couldn’t bring herself to speak a word.

Ethan stared at her for a while, then averted his gaze to the floor. He realized that she was standing on bare feet, and the white toes were rolling in nervousness.

The man’s strong, mild voice spoke, with the force of restraint: “I’ve bought some ointment for your feet.”

His eyes remained calm and cold, like when they had first met. But suddenly, Kylie didn’t know what to do with her hands and feet when he stared at her.

She pressed her lips into a thin line. “My feet are fine, and they’ll recover by tomorrow.”

Ethan had already cleared his mind of all sexual desire. The coldness in his eyes was because he regretted that his extraordinary willpower could so easily be shaken in front of this woman.

“They could become infected,” he spoke with a light voice.

“They won’t…” Kylie lowered her head, quickly glancing at Ethan, before quickly looking away. She was acting like a pet who didn’t know what it had done wrong.

“And…” She knew she wouldn’t be able to bring it up, because, after all, it had simply been an accident. But she still felt uncomfortable in her heart, so she finally said: “You didn’t see anything back then, right?”

Ethan looked at her face, which was turning redder and redder. He remained silent for a while, then said: “Yeah… nothing.”

But Kylie wasn’t convinced by his tone. He spoke as though he’d seen something, but was making fun of their size. Kindness wouldn’t kill him, at this point!

Kylie stood straight and felt dissatisfied. I’m a C-cup, she thought. She tilted her head and refused to look at Ethan any more. “Fine, I’ll go to bed,” she said proudly.

“Apply the ointment,” the man insisted.

“I won’t die from these abrasions!”

“Apply it!”

“I… will… not!”

“I’m the one who brought you back, so you must listen to me!”

Kylie was speechless. What a domineering man! She felt warm in her heart for being taken care of since she’d been alone for a long time.

She explained to him, albeit unwillingly: “The asshole was injured more heavily than me. These are just bruises. I’ll be fine within two days.”

The man replied in his domineering but gentle tone: “Your feet were rubbed to the point of bleeding! Do you want to cut them again after the wound has festered? Then say goodbye to your career! It won’t be easy for you to find another man, either.”

Career? Man?

Kylie thought about it seriously. “Do you mean you’ll abandon me as well? But we have that three-year agreement…”

Ethan sneered. “Given your bad temper, you probably won’t be fine with me and will complain every day, lying in bed. Then, you’ll probably get depressed or something like that, and it won’t even take three years before you kick the bucket.”

Kylie didn’t know what to say. Did this guy brush his teeth with shit every morning? How could he always be so mean! She simply had a few burst blisters on the soles of her feet, and suddenly he turned it into amputation, depression, and suicide.

But Lord Ethan was right about something… If her feet were injured, the film shooting would definitely be affected.

Fine, you win this time, she thought, let’s apply the ointment.

“I’ll apply it, alright!” She curled her lip and walked towards the table to grab the ointment. “I’ll apply it in my room, and you can continue minding your own business.”

Just as she was about to close the door of the bedroom, the man spoke from behind her: “I’ll do it for you.”

“You…” How could he be so unreasonable? She rolled her eyes. “I’ll do it myself.”

“That would be inconvenient,” he replied. Kylie almost lost her temper. Her feet were a part of her body, so how could it be inconvenient!

But the man’s handsome face read: No Rejection. During her lifetime, Laurence Finch had been the only man who could change her mind about things, but only because she did everything counter to what he said. What Laurence Finch didn’t want her doing, was something she must do.

Now, here was another man who had the power to sway her behavior. This man was her husband-Ethan Parker. He had a way of making you do what he wanted by simply looking at you.

Chapter 29: I Can Let You See

Kylie couldn’t reject him, so she walked towards the bedroom in a pout, and lay on the bed, casually reaching for her feet, and propping them in his face. Let him smell them!

The man sat on the bed. He saw blood and pus flowing from Kylie’s sole, and, on taking a closer look, discovered that there were three broken blisters. He held Kylie’s ankle and gently laid her feet across his lap.

As the cold ointment was applied, her calf muscle tightened. Ethan glanced at her fingers, which had just gripped the pillow; she was in pain but remained silent the entire time.

Ethan’s movements became lighter, and Kylie felt as though a feather was kissing her. Kylie tilted her head, noticing the pain in her sole transform to coolness. The cotton swab was like a feather moving from her toes to the arch of her foot.

Her scalp tingle. Her throat felt weird and full of saliva. She tightly bit her lips, and her eyelashes began to flutter slightly. She looked so helpless.

Was this man applying the ointment, or tickling her? Didn’t he know that tickling one’s arch could cause a heart attack? Now her heartbeat was completely out of control!

“Have you finished?” she asked.

“Almost.”

Kylie didn’t notice that the corners of the man’s eyes were a little red with the force of restraint. He was actually torturing himself. But the damn feeling of touching her was so good that he wanted more!

When Kylie felt the movement stop, she wanted to get up, but the man forced her to lie down again. “Don’t move,” he said. Then, she got a whiff of the liquid medicine, and her ankle was covered in cool.

The man’s palm, which was warm, wrapped around her ankle. Her body tightened unconsciously. This was the first time that a man had so intimately touched her.

He’s just applying for medicine… He’s just applying for medicine… Kylie tried to hypnotize herself, as she had done countless times before, but she found that her arms were shaking again.

Why was she so turned on when he was simply touching her ankle? Did she have some weird fetish? Kylie thought it must be the effect of the medicine, because, not only was her back heating up but so were the man’s hands.

The heat spread across her skin. Kylie buried her head in the pillow, worried that she would lose control and make a loud, humiliating sound.

Watching the slim, straight calves, and white, round toes, Ethan’s eyes began to smile. He admitted to himself that his intentions had been mischievous.

He wanted to feel her charming skin so badly, after having been allured for so long. The palm rubbed gently and moved slowly from the ankle…

Probably due to tiredness, or because of his skillful movements, Kylie gradually relaxed and began to feel sleepy. But when she was just about to fall asleep, her arch suddenly ached. She raised her head with great difficulty.

“Dry your hair before you go to sleep.” The man had removed his hand.

Kylie didn’t know how to respond. He could be so cruel, waking her like that!

Ethan wiped the ointment from his hands, and lightly continued: “Or you’ll catch a cold.” Kylie didn’t move.

Ethan put away all the medicine, then turned towards the bathroom to fetch the hairdryer. He plugged it into the wall and handed it to Kylie, who was still lying on the bed.

She didn’t move and had no intention to take the hairdryer. He was standing beside the bed and remained silent. The two didn’t speak a word for quite a long while.

Kylie spun a half circle and dropped her head against the pillow. “My hands are sore. You’re the one who wants my hair dry, so do it yourself!”

Ethan looked at this lazy woman, and suddenly recalled the proud Pupu, who would lie on the bed in the same way after his bath, waiting for him to brush out his fur.

Before long, the hairdryer was blowing. The man’s fingers passed through her hair, while the warm wind played against her scalp. It was really comfortable.

Kylie had already been sleepy, but now she could barely open her eyes because of this professional treatment. When her hair was dry, Ethan put the hairdryer away and discovered that she was already asleep.

He could hear her steady, long exhale when he returned to the bedroom. Ethan rubbed her hair until it was purposefully messy, but Kylie didn’t move. He sighed and lowered his body in order to lift her.

When his arms passed under her armpits, Ethan’s gaze accidentally fell on her soft bosom. He focused his eyes. The girl’s bosom had a beautiful shape; it rose and fell with her every breath.

His big palm covered one of her breasts before he realized what he was doing. It was soft and smooth and fit perfectly inside the man’s palm. It must be authentic, he thought.

Probably because his touch had made her fall asleep, Kylie seemed comfortable in his arms, and even mumbled: “Um…”

Ethan swiftly took his handoff. He looked at the stunning face and pretty jaw, which was partly covered by her long hair. He frowned.

After a deep breath, he hugged her closer and placed her under the blankets. Kylie was a light sleeper and regained consciousness after being moved. She mumbled: “Lord Ethan… I want…”

The man was stunned, then asked with growing excitement: “You want me?”

Lifting the blankets closer to her face, she continued to mumble: “A killer…”

Ethan’s face became gloomy. “To kill whom?”

Kylie turned onto her side in a pout, then suddenly said: “The one who has seen and touched me…”

Ethan didn’t know what to say. He then lay down beside her and switched off the lamp. He approached her ear and whispered: “If you think you’ve got the short end of the stick, I can let you see… and touch, too.”

Chapter 30: Unbelievably Considerate

Early morning arrived.

There was no man beside her when Kylie woke up. She looked down at herself, dressed in Ethan’s shirt and pants. In bed!

Kylie walked out of the bedroom, her hair a mess on top. She noticed Ethan, who was sitting at the dining table, elegantly eating his breakfast.

The sun shone through the window, casting a warm light over his body. He was wearing his usual combination of black pants and a white shirt, but something about him seemed different today.

But what was different, Kylie couldn’t identify. Despite her unruly appearance, Ethan glanced at her with calm indifference. “You’re up,” he said.

Kylie strode quickly towards the table and reached out to grab a steamed bun from its plate, but the back of the hand was suddenly hit hard. “Wash your hands!” yelled Ethan.

Kylie rolled her eyes and pretended to walk away. But, all of a sudden, she speedily turned around and grabbed a steamed bun before he could stop her, tossing it into her mouth.

She chewed it with dramatic motions and raised her eyebrows in defiance and pride. Ethan pushed the plate away, his face full of disdain. It appeared that the whole plate had been ruined because she had grabbed one with dirty hands.

“You don’t want them? Then they’re all mine!” Kylie said, sitting down at the opposite end of the table.

Ethan placed his elbow on the surface, and suddenly asked: “Why did you drink so much last night?”

Kylie’s face froze in a second. Couldn’t he let it go? Noticing Kylie’s changed expression, the beast within Ethan gradually awoke.

Kylie wasn’t used to complaining to others, but, maybe because it was so uncomfortable keeping everything inside, or because of Ethan’s kindness the night before, her opinion of him had improved a little.

She slowly leaned back against her chair, and said, after a few moments: “I lost the role in Tea House…”

Ethan was taken aback by the news. “What?”

“A boss like you, who is superior to everyone else, and can easily get anything he wants, won’t understand what I’ve given to winning a normal role, and how happy I was when I won the role. You can’t even imagine…” Kylie covered her face with her hands after she had finished.

Ethan thought her emotions had been out of control because of Aiden Parker’s presence; he hadn’t known there was another reason. She was sad not because Aiden Parker had chosen Khloe Finch instead of herself, but because she had lost a role, she had fought hard to win.

The man who had been puzzled and gloomy all night, was now, within a second, happy and bright as the sun. But his heart ached again when he noticed her shoulders shake with pain.

How could he not understand how important it was that she be approved? Many people in the entertainment industry wanted to cast her, but she didn’t take most of those directors and producers seriously. What she wanted was to be cast for her efforts and her talent, and not because of her body.

“You have been doing well, actually.” Ethan pushed a bowl of cereal towards her. His knuckles gently knocked the bowl. So, the true culprit wasn’t Aiden Parker, but Laurence Finch.

The producer had told him yesterday that Laurence Finch wanted to invest in Tea House, with one condition. But nobody could hurt Ethan’s woman, even if the man causing pain was her own father.

When Kylie finally calmed down, she suddenly realized that she had been crying in front of Ethan, and for almost half an hour! It was really cowardly…

She had only cried twice since leaving the Finch house all those years ago-acting excluded, of course. The first time had been when she’d first found Aiden Parker, which had been out of happiness, whereas the other time…

“Sorry, I’ve ruined your appetite.” Kylie saw that the bowl of cereal before Ethan was still untouched and felt embarrassed. Ethan wore a faint smile. “I just don’t like the taste of cereal that much,” he said.

Kylie didn’t know what to say, and her heartbeat became unsteady again. She had expected Ethan to say something mean like he usually did, but he was considerate right now-unbelievably considerate, even. A look from that man and it killed her, but she would truly die for it, damn it!

Ethan leaned back in his chair, with his arms across his chest. “What do you want to do with a professional killer?”
