Chapter 66: Don’t Bite Me

All of a sudden, Kylie’s eyes became round. She could clearly sense that her gut was reacting badly.

Ethan breathed unsteadily, and heavily against her. He could hear a voice screaming in his head: Fuck her, right now!

His palm searched for the bottom of her shirt, covering her smooth skin with his body’s high temperature. He had searched every corner of her yesterday, which enabled him to act like a master right now.

Kylie’s body reacted fiercely. Her legs wound around his slim waist. The man kissed her on the jaw. She raised her head, but her eyesight became blurry.

Kylie could only hear the man’s heavy breathing in her ear. Her bosom rose and fell as she rubbed the man’s muscular chest. His palm skipped her waist and went straight to her soft, ample breast.

“Umm…” Kylie couldn’t help but moan aloud, tightly biting her lips together. Her face flushed. The man smiled lightly, kissing her lips once more.

“Don’t bite me…”

“Eth… Ethan Par… Parker…” Kylie forced herself to speak out. “You said… half a year…”

“Um,” the man answered, without stopping.

“Then you…” Kylie was totally turned on by his skillful kisses. If this continued to go on, she would probably have to release the monster insider her.

“Just a kiss…”

The room was filled with untold feelings. He didn’t let her go until her lips were swollen.

“I’ll go take a shower.” The man kissed her forehead and turned back towards the bedroom. Kylie was finally free; she breathed in and out deeply, throwing herself onto the couch with excellent elasticity.

Jesus, she had accepted Ethan’s high-handed decision with an unclear mind again! Why did she always lose her sense of direction when she was with him? Every time she has led astray!

When she could hear the sound of water from the bathroom, Kylie took out her phone, swearing at the asshole who had put her into this situation.

“Kylie Finch! Since when have you been my Aunt Ethan?!” William still couldn’t accept the truth.

“Watch your tone before your senior!” Kylie replied in a domineering way.

“Watch your tone?! I’m older than you!”

“Are you superior to Ethan?” The other side suddenly fell silent.

Kylie was shaking her feet with satisfaction and curling her lip. “Don’t tell anyone else about Ethan and me. Do you understand?”

“Kylie, is it a contract marriage?” William’s voice was soft. Kylie could imagine the picture of William wearing a sad face, sitting on his balcony.

“It’s none of your business. The only thing you need to bear in mind is that I’m married.”

The other side had remained silent for a long time, then William said: “If you are going to divorce my Uncle Ethan, please take me as your first choice. I will do whatever you like.”

Kylie didn’t know what to say. Was she moved? Sure. “William, I know that Ethan only has one nephew, Aiden Parker. Why do you call him uncle as well?”

“He is a close friend of my dad’s, and he has been taking care of my mom and me since my dad passed away.” William still hadn’t recovered from his sad tone.

“So, you must know what Ethan’s profession was in the past?” Finally, Kylie had found someone who knew Lord Ethan well!

“Uncle Ethan, didn’t tell you?” William sounded like he had learned some big news and was energetic again. “You can go ask him whatever you want to know, but I can tell you one thing.”

“Say it.” Kylie rolled her eyes, unsatisfied.

“My uncle Ethan has been in love with a woman for many years.” He laughed contentedly. “I really hope that woman will come back soon.”

Ha Ha. If Ethan dumped Kylie, he would have a chance again. Kylie was stunned.

She took a look at the tightly closed bedroom door, then asked: “Has the woman… gone abroad?”

“I don’t know.” William was back to being his usual evil self, full of energy. He grabbed a handful of crisps, and chewed them while he spoke: “He mentions her every time he goes to visit my dad’s grave.”

“What does he say?” Kylie was a little nervous. She was increasingly curious about Ethan’s history.

“I don’t know.”

“What the hell do you know?!”

“I heard it from my mom, and my mom also said…” The whole time, Kylie’s attention was in the bathroom. When she heard the water stop, she quickly hung up. “I have something to deal with. Bye.”

William looked at the phone, and, feeling quite uncomfortable for not having finished his sentence, he said after a while: “She is much younger than uncle Ethan.”

The agent walked forwards, holding a glass of wine, and discovered William speaking to himself. He asked with curiosity: “Are you sick because of Kylie’s torture and pretending to talk on the phone?”

William stared at him in anger. “Speaking of that, you didn’t help me at all when she was beating me!” The agent shrugged. “If you two express your love through fighting. I daren’t interfere.”

***

Kylie looked at the man who was walking outside the bedroom. She held her jaw and appreciated the night sky: “Great view.”

Her sexual gaze once again triggered the faint remainder of passion inside Ethan’s body.

“Your privilege,” he said.

“You’re a really good PUA,” Kylie said, looking at him. “It’s a pity that we are going to miss the campfire party.”

“Then, we’ll watch something else.” The man wiped his hair to half dry, holding a cigarette in his mouth.

Kylie quietly looked at him lighting it up, then breathing it in, his eyebrows furrowed, then steadily breathing the smoke out. A light smoke covered the man’s features. He leaned against the railings of the balcony. It was not often that she saw him so relaxed.

Knowing that she closely watched him, the man didn’t turn around but looked far away. He said lightly: “Want to ask me something?”

Could he see through her? How did he know everything she was thinking of? Licking her still swollen lip, Kylie looked at the man’s tall silhouette with seriousness.

“You said that you want me to cut off my relationships with all the men. How about you, then?”

Ethan turned around with a smile. “I don’t have another woman other than you.”

Kylie curled her lip with disdain. “What if a woman tries to seduce you?” The moonlight highlighted the side of the man’s face.

He slightly lowered his head and spoke quietly, so that it was unclear whether he was saying the words to himself or to Kylie. “I’ll destroy whatever part she uses to touch me.”

Kylie looked at him and lost her mind a little. She could just see that the man was making a beautiful curve at the corners of his lips. He was smiling.

“Deal!” Kylie was affected by his smile, so she smiled in response.

“You too.” Ethan looked at her. His long, narrow eyes were black and bright.

“No problem.” Kylie replied, “And you have such a beautiful smile…”

Ethan walked towards her with a big smile, something she had never before seen on his face.

Kylie was highly stunned, and her eyes were wide open. She chewed at her thumb for no apparent reason. She had always admitted to herself that she found Ethan handsome enough to belong in any beautiful scenery, but she couldn’t believe that everything around her could so easily disappear when he walked towards her with a smile like that.

The sexy man in black silk nightwear was like a masterpiece walking out from an oil painting. He stood in front of her and lowered his body. His arms reached out and over her shoulder, pressing her against the couch.

Chapter 67: Wonderful Dinner

The girl’s nose touched his. Kylie was dumb enough to kiss the tip of his nose, on her own initiative. The man smiled, shaking his head, then kissed her forehead in return.

He said lightly: “Turn around.”

“Turn… Turn around?” Knowing that she was thinking too much, Kylie blushed. Couldn’t he say that in a normal way? He had been so close to her that she had misunderstood!

Kylie turned around. There was an infinity pool on the other side of the living room; its surface was as still as a mirror, without a single ripple. Nothing else… “What am I looking at?” Kylie turned her head back.

But she hadn’t realized how near the man’s head was to her shoulder so that when Kylie turned, she brushed him with the tip of her nose.

He had glorious smooth skin, and Kylie could smell the faint scent of shower gel. Before Kylie had time to feel embarrassed, she was directly pressed into the couch.

Ethan bent one knee onto the couch, then came at her with all of his weight, holding her waist tightly with one hand, while the other hand lay on the back of her head.

“It’s you who started this,” the man said. His voice sounded horny, and the storm of his kisses rained on Kylie’s face, neck, and…

Having been kissed several times that day, not only were her lips sore, but Kylie believed that her boobs would explode because of how swollen they felt.

The man bit her once when he sensed that she was distracted. “Ah!” Kylie held his busy head. “Stop it, and I have to be on the show in a few days…”

But Ethan ignored her.

Suddenly, a pink hue spread over the room, then faded away when Kylie came back to her senses.

Ethan raised his head, wiping his thin lips with his hand, and pulled Kylie up from the couch. The man was holding her hand and led her to the side of the infinity pool. A light blue color spread through the sky once again.

“Fireworks!” Kylie yelled with surprise, leaning wholly against the railings. She stood up on tiptoe with a delighted face. It had been years since she had last seen fireworks.

The returning joy was accompanied by the pain of nostalgia, which made Kylie sob a little. “It’s breathtaking…”

Ethan stood behind her and circled her waist with his arms. He rested his jaw on the top of her head. “Do you like it?” he asked.

Kylie looked up at him. His features were vague in the shadows cast by the clouds and the fireworks, but she could nonetheless sense his serious mood by the strong heartbeat against her back.

It was she who had wanted to come to Connell on the spur of the moment. She hadn’t expected that he would have time to prepare any surprises, but he had-a wonderful dinner followed by a fabulous firework show.

“Why?” Kylie felt that her happiness was too good to be true.

“It’s our honeymoon.” The man’s voice was charming as usual, as it flowed by slowly, like the wind. Kylie was leaning her chest against the railing, appreciating the colorful firework show.

Since the man was in such a good mood, she attempted: “Look at the beautiful night.”

“Yeah,” the man answered lightly.

“So, the night isn’t that frightening, right?” she asked. She felt the man’s body suddenly stiffen for a second.

He understood that it was a hint from Kylie.

Before the next round of colorful fireworks arrived, the man standing at the opposite window broke his coffee cup with force.

A flower of dark brown stains appeared on the white carpet! Seeing the couple happily leaning against each other, and looking up at the same sky as him, Aiden Parker was more than jealous.

What’s worse, the last round of fireworks exploded into a line of words: Happy Wedding! Although no name followed, he knew to whom the message was intended.

His uncle Ethan was cold, stubborn, and, in his memory, seldom smiled. Since when had he learned such tricks for entertaining girls? He was more and more uncomfortable to see Kylie’s delighted face. He pulled the curtain shut with all his strength, and turned to find Khloe.

She was in the bedroom.

“Edit the video I sent you, but wait to release it until I’ve told you so.” Khloe was on the phone with Lucas Jackson and hung up as soon as she saw Aiden push the door open.

“Dear Aiden, let’s play games.” Aiden was in a terrible mood, but he nodded casually, then lay on the bed with Khloe and started the game.

The video game that Aiden and Khloe were playing was of the teamwork variety. He was invading at the front while Khloe was filling up from behind. When the two had just connected their game consoles, another couple joined in. The female player was apparently a newbie because she was directly killed when it was a remote attack.

Aiden unleashed his anger on the game. He typed fast: “Dumbass! Do you know how to play or not?!” Then he killed her with one shot.

“Ethan Parker!” Kylie kicked the man who was viewing documents on the other side of the sofa. “What?” The man’s sight was momentarily turned away from his documents. “What happened?”

“I was killed!” Kylie bit her lip.

Ethan put the documents down and sat beside Kylie, looking at her game. She had been running and was chased by someone as soon as she had logged in. Kylie wasn’t familiar with the buttons, so she was killed within seconds, and before she could find a safe place to hide.

“Shit! This is the third time! Now I’m mad…” Kylie said, logging in again, and getting killed by a lightning bolt once more.

She looked up at Ethan for help. “Do you play it? Kill him for me!”

“I don’t,” Ethan replied with honesty. Still, he took over Kylie’s phone, observing for a while, then he asked: “Is this one for attacking?”

“Yep, you’re right.” Kylie came around his side and began introducing every button’s function to him.

Within a minute, Ethan was online. The man in the game abandoned the monster and rushed towards Kylie, or who he thought was Kylie’s persona. Ethan remained calm and closely stared at the screen, but his movements weren’t smooth, and he was killed.

The man stayed cool, thought about it for ten seconds, then logged in again. This time, Ethan hit several buttons simultaneously.

Then his character on the screen was running at high speed. The other male character was killed before he could realize it, and so was the assistant female character who was hiding close by.

“Gee! You can rush!” Kylie was shocked and yelled out with pride. Now, whenever the opposite male character was online, Ethan would kill him within a minute.

After a continuous five killings, the other male yielded: “My dear Lord, I apologize. I’m a newbie; please let me go.” Ethan returned Kylie’s phone to her and picked up his documents again.

“If anyone else takes advantage of you, come to me, your husband.”

Kylie instantly smiled.”Ethan, I could never have believed that such a big boss like you could also be good at games.”

Ethan looked down at his documents and turned the pages without raising his head. “It was because of the trash enemy.”

On the other side, Khloe threw her phone on the bed. “Aiden, honey, I quit! I’ve lost all my equipment. Didn’t you just say she was merely a newbie? How come she is so good all of a sudden?”

Aiden frowned. “She was a newbie at the beginning… Did she cheat?”

Chapter 68: Let’s Talk

Khloe pouted with dissatisfaction and rubbed against Aiden with her shoulder.

“Aiden, honey, forget the game. Let’s talk.”

“Sure, you can talk, and I’ll listen.” Aiden was immediately focusing on the game again. He found the female character who had been playing well; now, she was exploring again.

He followed her for a while. This female character seemed really bad at playing. Aiden planned to win her equipment over while she wasn’t paying attention, but he had to be careful because of his previous failures.

Khloe saw that he was devoted to the game again and that he was ignoring her completely, so she decided to pretend that she was in pain. “Ouch!”

“What’s wrong?” Aiden’s head was still lowered.

“I probably ate something bad tonight. My stomach is a little uncomfortable…” At the same time, Khloe leaned against him, wanting him to rub her down.

But, unexpectedly, Aiden simply replied in the most perfunctory way: “Have more water…”

***

Back at the no. 8 sea-view room, the bedroom was filled with warm light, issuing from the bedside lamp.

Ethan made sure that the woman in his arms was deeply asleep, before he stepped away from the bed, and headed towards the window.

The standing man was like a sculpture. He stood there for a long time, with his eyebrows tightly knit.

Kylie’s words in his ears, wounded him again and again: “The night is actually beautiful. You may try…”

The man’s long fingers pinched at a corner of the curtain. Ethan took a deep breath. The curtain was thick and heavy. He could not have pulled it open even if he’d tried with his whole force.

The man’s forehead was in a slight, cold sweat. His sharp eyes were harsh and cold.

The quiet room was like an entertainment center abuzz with activities: there was noisy music, and the sound of people amusing each other.

All of those noises made Ethan out of breath. The beast inside his chest struggled to get out. His fingernails turned white because of how tightly he gripped the curtain’s edge.

After a long time, his arms fell down helplessly. Ethan breathed out deeply and turned to leave the bedroom.

Kylie was awake after midnight, with an unsound mind and stomach: she had eaten too much at dinner. She rolled onto her back and reached out her hand for the man’s warm body.

She moved it left then right. But he was missing from the bed; the sheet was cold. She rubbed her eyes and sat up to see if Ethan was somewhere else in the room.

Did he not sleep in the same bed as her at night, instead of simply getting up earlier than her every morning?

Kylie was completely awake now and was puzzled by Ethan’s unusual behavior. If he didn’t want to be with her, why hadn’t he been happier when she had proposed separate bedrooms on that first day?

Now it appeared as though he chose to live with her, but left while she was dreaming. Kylie turned onto her side and took out her phone from under the pillow. It was 4:30 am.

When the screen light came on, she saw that there was a message from Star.:”Habit is a horrible thing. It will help you see through yourself to the bone.”

In Kylie’s mind, although Star was a person of few words, he was nonetheless very outgoing. Seeing his message, Kylie felt that he was a little negative, and probably because he had encountered something unpleasant.

Kylie sent him a “hug” emoji and wrote: “You’ve encouraged me to face myself, and now it’s time for me to encourage you to face yourself. I’ll support you no matter what has happened!” Message sent.

Kylie felt another round of sickness inside her stomach.

“OMG, I’m coming down with diarrhea!” Kylie pressed her stomach down while she struggled to get out of bed. She rushed towards the bathroom, but… the door was locked when she tried to open it!

“Ethan, are you in there?” Kylie pounded on the door.

Seconds later, the man’s charming voice called from inside: “Yeah.” Then she heard the sound of running water. When Ethan had barely opened the door, Kylie rushed inside and pushed him out, closing the door behind him.

“I thought you were out, but you were in the bathroom!” Kylie sat on the toilet, feeling like she had been making a mountain out of a molehill. If Ethan brought her out for their honeymoon but didn’t sleep with her, he must be sick or something!

Kylie finally finished, then sang a little song. When she was washing her hands, she found out that the bathroom had suddenly become unusually clean.

Both Ethan and herself had taken a shower that night. However, there was no sign of water stain or any loose strands of hair. The bathroom was even shining!

Such a clean and tidy bathroom was flawless, except for one small thing: the mirror above the washbasin was slightly unclear, and covered by a smidgeon of mist.

Kylie tutted, and wiped the mirror with her hands to get rid of it, complaining: “The hotel’s service is really good. They even cleaned up the bathroom when we were out for dinner, but they missed the mirror. What a shame.”

She jumped onto the bed and planned to re-enter her sweet dreams. But then she realized that Ethan had already changed.

“You’re not going to sleep?” she asked.

“You neither.”

Kylie looked at what Ethan was wearing with surprise on her face. Ethan, who always showed up dressed in a tidy suit, was now wearing casual clothes.

What was weirder was that there was a big picture of Mickey Mouse on his chest. His shirt was almost the matching piece to the sportswear she wore yesterday.

“What are you going to do?”

“Climb the mountain,” he replied.

“No, I was asking about your style…” Kylie couldn’t believe her eyes.

Ethan, in his formal suit, had an air of royalty, like he was superior to everyone else because he was a born king. But Ethan, with his casual look, seemed like an arrogant young man with irresistible charisma.

Whatever he was wearing, it matched him well. A big palm waved in front of her face to stop her from daydreaming.

“It’s time to go.”

“Now?”

“If we don’t leave now, we’ll miss the sunrise.”

Ethan opened the closet and tossed out the clothing that Kylie was wearing yesterday.

“I wore it yesterday,” Kylie said, reluctant.

The man was immediately annoyed, glancing over at her with his cold eyes. Kylie felt threatened and changed into the clothing as quickly as she could.

The air was fresh, and the serene mountain road made the early morning even more pleasant. Compared to yesterday’s noisy surroundings, today’s mountain was the perfect atmosphere for climbing.

Ethan exercised regularly, so he was able to climb to the top with a steady breath, but Kylie’s feet were in pain halfway up.

“Short-legs. Move fast.” Ethan didn’t turn his head but slowed down his pace.

“I don’t have short legs! My legs begin at my neck!” Kylie was angry and bent her waist, rushing forwards. She abruptly jumped on Ethan.

The man had seen it coming and caught her steadily. He held her butt with his big palms and kept walking ahead.

Kylie was lying on his back with her two legs dangling around his waist.

She bragged: “See? My legs are long enough to reach your waist. Whose legs are longer?” Ethan looked down at her dangling legs and smiled.

“Are you sure you want to compare your legs to mine?”

Chapter 69: Is He Star?

“Why not?” Kylie’s arms were around his neck, and she replied loudly with pride.

A cunning look passed through Ethan’s eyes. He said lightly: “I have three legs. Which one do you want to use for comparison?”

“Three…Three legs?” Kylie didn’t know what he meant. She leaned her head forward and looked around with puzzlement for a while. “You only have two legs…”

“The middle is the third one.” The man’s voice was slow and gentle, which sounded like its normal self.

Kylie understood him immediately, loosening one hand from around his neck and waving it up in the air like she was about to hit him on the head. But she had found something brand new on which to focus before her hand had time to fall down.

“Ethan, there is a mole on the back of your neck!” She screamed in amazement and analyzed it, holding his neck between her two hands.

His neck was slim, straight, and white. Kylie never had, until this moment, got the chance to look at the back of Ethan’s neck, due to his height.

The mole wasn’t very big-about as small as a little sesame. It was embedded in his smooth neck like a black diamond, and she found it unutterably cute.

“Anything wrong?”

“Nope.” Kylie touched it, and spoke: “But it means you’re blessed when you have a mole on the neck. You’ll get over all the difficulties ahead of you.”

Ethan stopped for a second, then moved along again. “Do you believe in superstition?”

“How could this be superstition? I haven’t told you the main part yet,” Kylie argued with disdain.

“Tell me then.” The road became steep, now that they were almost at the top. Kylie embraced his neck tightly to maintain her balance.

She put her head on his shoulder. “It is said that when people die, some go in peace, while others struggle to stay alive because they don’t want to lose their memory of the last lifetime. So, the god leaves a mole on the neck of those people who have struggled, so that they are able to keep some of their memories. During their present lifetime, they are searching for their lover from their last lifetime.”

Ethan nodded and seemed to agree strongly. So Kylie continued: “So, what did you do for a living in the last lifetime?”

“I was a slaughterer.” Kylie was so upset that she made a face behind his back and then smiled.

“Are you looking for the pig that you raised in the last lifetime?”

“You’re right.”

“Have you found it yet?” Kylie asked without a second thought but began to regret her question instantly.

Ethan nodded and replied with laughter: “Right on my back.”

Kylie always became so dumb, and always completely lost her wit in front of him! “Ethan!” Kylie shook his body with a lot of force. “How could you be so mean?!”

Ethan was tall and firm like a mountain, walking steadily along in spite of her shaking. He smiled, even though Kylie couldn’t see his face.

When the two finally arrived at the top, the sun was just rising above the clouds. Although it was already August, the wind at the top of the mountain was still chilly.

Ethan put Kylie down and hugged her from behind, his two arms wrapped around Kylie’s shoulders to protect her from the mountain wind.

“Today is a new day,” the man said. His voice, suddenly rising above her head, made Kylie’s heart lose a beat. She looked back at him with amazement.

That sentence had been said by Star as well. Right at the moment, Kylie’s heartbeat sped up. She had never even imagined that Ethan could be Star, but Ethan had appeared when Star had mentioned that he was going back to America, and Ethan had always been by her side for no apparent reason!

“You…” Kylie turned around and stared straight into his eyes, afraid of missing any small change on his face. “Do you like stars?” she asked.

Ethan wore a poker face, but his eyebrows moved slightly upwards. He opened his thin lips: “No.”

It was a simple word, but even chillier than the mountain wind. Kylie was a little disappointed, but she didn’t want to give up yet. There was no rule anywhere that someone who named himself “Star” had to necessarily like stars, was there?

Kylie changed the topic then: “You have such a bad temper. I guess you’ve never done something out of kindness.” She tried to get Ethan to admit it by offending him.

Star had helped her so much that she would never forget it. It was fair enough to say if it hadn’t been for Star’s help, she wouldn’t have survived. She would probably have died on the street.

Indeed, Ethan was upset; Kylie had denied his pride. He couldn’t just admit it: Saying: I have looked down upon you! I have done so many things out of kindness! I have been an anonymous hero!

The sun was finally up high in the sky. He blinked and responded lightly: “Charity is for those who feel guilty.”

Kylie was totally disappointed. Why would she connect Ethan with Star? They were absolutely different people. Ethan sensed that Kylie was a little unhappy, but he didn’t say a word.

The two had visited Connell much longer than they had anticipated, so they drove back after lunch. It was quiet inside and outside the car on the way back, which was different from the soul-stirring ambiance that had enveloped Connell on their arrival.

Seeing that Kylie was home, Lucy stepped forward with a smile. “Mrs. Parker, did you have fun?”

Kylie handed out some small gifts that she had brought back for Lucy and the butler. She smiled and nodded. “I really have enjoyed myself.”

Although Mr. Parker’s poker face didn’t reveal anything, the butler nonetheless sensed that the two had become closer. Even when they walked, the distance between their bodies was less than it had been before the trip.

Pupu rushed out when he heard Kylie’s voice, and he shook his tail delightfully.

“Pupu, did you miss me?” Kylie squatted and rubbed the fur on Pupu’s head until he was all disheveled. Ethan glanced at them, but he didn’t stop her. He rubbed the messy fur back to normal once he was seated on the couch.

“Mr. and Mrs. Parker, please have a rest for a while. I’ll go prepare dinner.” Lucy walked to the kitchen, smiling. Kylie followed Ethan upstairs, letting the unhappiness inside out.

“Ethan, if you really want to be in a serious relationship with me, I think the most important thing between a husband and a wife is honesty.” The room became silent. Ethan knew what Kylie was going to ask, as he had known the day would come.

Kylie stopped in front of the locked door. “What’s inside?” This locked room had aroused her curiosity for a long time now. She was always drawn to it by an invisible force, every time she walked by.

“Are you sure you want to know what’s inside?” Ethan stood behind her. His big palm, holding a key, fell on the lock. He gently turned the key.

Hearing the lock’s mechanism at work, Kylie held her breath. The man was standing behind her, and his voice was unusually hoarse and calm. “Kylie Finch, once you’ve walked in, you can’t walk away for the rest of your life.”

He spoke the words very slowly, but Kylie’s heart was heavy with anticipation. Couldn’t she walk away from this for the rest of her life?

“Are you ready for it?” He bent over and wrapped her waist with his spare hand. Kylie trembled slightly and was stunned when the door began to open slowly.

Chapter 70: An Important Figure

The door opened wider and wider. When the space was large enough for a person to get through, Kylie suddenly turned her back to the room.

She smiled like she didn’t care at all. “I was just kidding! I’m not eager to know what’s inside, actually.” To not be able to walk away from Ethan for her whole life? She hadn’t prepared herself for that yet.

The man felt an unutterable sadness; his body became stiff in an unusual way. He maintained his posture, leaning forward a little.

Kylie didn’t dare to look back, afraid that she would be cursed for seeing something she shouldn’t have seen. Kylie reached behind her and caught the man’s hand, which was still on the lock. The always warm hand was now even colder than hers.

“I’ll go change first.” She didn’t have the guts to look into his eyes, and escaped from his armpit, hurriedly running towards the bedroom.

Ethan didn’t follow her, but he quietly looked at her escaping body. When Kylie disappeared up the passage, he pushed the door open. It was completely dark inside. The man sneered and strode in, as the door closed behind him.

In the bedroom, Kylie was restless. She was walking in circles and tried to calm herself down enough to face Ethan, who would later come up to find her.

She was curious, absolutely, but she wasn’t courageous enough to agree right now to be with Ethan forever, and she understood what it meant to uncover someone’s history. She was finally calm enough to face him, but the door of the bedroom remained still.

Kylie stuck her head out and looked around. There was nobody in the passage or in the downstairs living room. Where was Ethan?

Kylie had scarcely taken out her phone to call Ethan when a call came in. She was worried. “Director Johnson?”

She walked back into the bedroom, phone in hand. Julian Johnson was smiling on the other side. “Kylie, Tea House is very popular, especially you.”

“Thank you so much for your approval. I’ll continue to work hard.”

“Um, there is a chance for you.” Julian Johnson stopped for a second, then said: “Come to the set right now. The screenwriter has added a part for you.”

“Added a part?” Kylie, who had just laid down, now stood up swiftly. “Me? Why?”

“I’ve said, and you’re very popular right now. The screenwriter has adjusted the screen script a little, so now you need to show up for several more scenes. We have also arranged for a male partner for you.”

“I’m alive again?” Kylie was surprised. A gangster had assaulted Becky Ruiz for protecting Miss Tea, and then she’d committed suicide out of shame.

“Yes. In the gangster part, you’ll need to redo some scenes.”

“Great, no problem. I’ll be right there.” Kylie hung up and quickly changed, rushing downstairs. “Lucy, I have something important to deal with, so I’m not eating at home.”

Now that the outdoor scenes were finished, Tea House was being shot indoors at the Film and TV base. Kylie got in a cab and arrived in less than an hour.

Lily Lawrence was showing off, phone in hand, in front of Khloe Finch: “Khloe, you know what, this rich man has been chasing me for more than a year. He sent me flowers, jewelry, and now he is even telling me how much he likes me on Instagram. But I’m not the kind of person who falls in love easily.” Right at that moment, Kylie strode in.

Lily Lawrence rolled her eyes. “Unlike someone, who just knows how to go through men, and doesn’t show up to work until she hears about her couple.”

Khloe was busy preparing for her next scene, and said, without much Attention: “Hasn’t she already finished her part? What is the couple’s part?”

“Gee, you still don’t know about that?” Lily rounded her eyes with shock and replied angrily: “Khloe, I’m not saying something bad about you. But you were supposed to be the most popular actress in Tea House since you’re the leading actress. But Director Johnson said that that’s not the case. He said that Kylie was the most popular actress, based on online user stats, so he let the screenwriter adjust the script, and add a new part for her.”

Khloe believed half and doubted half. Lily looked around, and, seeing that there was nobody nearby, she approached Khloe’s ear. “But Kylie’s acting skills don’t even compare with yours. In my opinion, she must have slept with Director Johnson, so…”

Khloe stopped her for a second and pretended that she was worried about Kylie. “It’s quite understandable that people want to be in a higher position. I understand Kylie, but I’m concerned that she’ll be given an unqualified partner. It would be a loss, actually.”

“She is the kind of person I despise! I wouldn’t sleep with Director Johnson, even if he became Prince Charming for me!”

When Lily finished, a Harley motorcycle dashed in and made circles around the place, before suddenly braking in front Julian.

Julian was shocked by the man’s appearance. He patted his shoulder, then turned to the crew: “Attention, please. An important figure has shown up. Kylie, come over here.”

Lily snorted, “A loser on a Harley motorcycle is still a loser!” and ambled towards Julian. She was laughing at Kylie.

Any actor with little fame would have shown up in a van with an agent and an assistant. She had never witnessed an important figure to arrive at a scene by riding a motorcycle. Khloe had the same thought and was eager to find out what kind of man Julian had arranged for Kylie.

Khloe’s partner was Cliff Benjamin, the Best Actor. It was quite an honor among the whole crew.

But Kylie was more popular than her? It must be a joke! If she simply rode on Cliff’s coattails by leaking out several amatory pictures, the publicity would be unimaginable.

Khloe would definitely not allow Kylie the chance to surpass her! Khloe unconsciously glanced towards Cliff.

Cliff was already standing up, and was about to leave when he was almost knocked over by Kylie, who was rushing along. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. The director called me, so I’m a little…” Kylie bent, in a hurry to apologize.

“You can go then.” Cliff waved his hand with impatience.

Right at that moment, Khloe walked towards them, asking with care: “Cliff, are you alright? Kylie knocked you by accident, but only because she heard that Director Johnson had arranged an important figure for her. Please don’t blame Kylie.”

An important figure? Was there anyone more important than him? Cliff was annoyed and frowned. “An important figure? Who?”

Khloe knew that she had succeeded in causing Cliff some dissatisfaction, but she pretended that she was in a dilemma. “I haven’t gone over and seen yet, but you’re the most important figure in my heart.”

“Then let’s find out!” Cliff said with anger, following Khloe, who had begun to walk towards the crowd.

Kylie shoved through the crowd with difficulty, then decided to escape.

Khloe, who was behind her, saw Kylie escaping, and thought that she must be running away from an ugly partner. Khloe suddenly pushed Kylie into the crowd again.

Kylie had recognized the man standing beside Julian! His blue diamond earring was shining in the sun. Kylie couldn’t believe her eyes. Jesus, please kill me now!

Why? Why did her partner have to be him?!
