Ch. 506..510: Forbidden Heat R18 Chapter 506-510
Chapter 506: Reiner - Reiner with Children
Reiner looked down at me with clear concern in his eyes before he nodded his head once at me to state his consent. I had no idea what he was going on about, but I was so thrilled that he had agreed to go in to see the children with me.
“Let’s go!” I cried out gleefully as I grabbed his much larger hand in both of mine and began pulling me towards the classroom door.
Reiner still seemed hesitant, but he did let me drag him through the classroom door and into the art classroom. The atmosphere inside was full of chatting and laughter as the children went about painting on their canvas while also chatting and playing with each other. The children seemed to be having so much fun and how they smiled told me that they were genuinely very happy. I had to say that I didn’t remember having any good times like this with my friends in school. I didn’t really have friends...
“What are you painting here? Is this a bird?” I asked after crouching down to get a closer look at one of the canvasses.
The dark hair girl turned to me and smiled as she nodded. I found myself smiling back naturally. Everything all seemed well and good before I realized that her eyes had shifted from my face to elsewhere and then her expression transformed into one of shock. I gave her a confused look before I turned around to follow her line of sight.
“He’s so big...” she muttered softly.
To my surprised, I found the little girl staring up at Reiner who was standing behind me. Well, she’s not wrong. He is indeed big and compared to how small and short she is, he must look like a giant to her if she’s looking at him from down there.
Is she scared? She’s scared of him, right?
My body froze in place when I realized that this might be what Reiner had been worrying about. Did something similar happen to him before when he visited? What should I do now?
Soon enough, I felt the eyes of the other children on us, or more specifically on Reiner as the attention of the children in the classroom shifted to the very tall and large man standing in the room. He really does stand out, I guess.
Reiner looked down at the children who were staring up at him with cold and passive eyes while I started to worry about the direction where this was heading.
“Umm...he’s...” I began explaining before things got more awkward before trailing.
What am I supposed to say in a situation like this? Something like ‘he’s big but he’s actually a very nice guy’?
More children started gathering around us as they looked up at Reiner as if they have never seen someone like him before. While I was hesitating about what to do, Reiner crouched down before he sighed in resignation.
“Do you...want to play?” Reine asked before he smiled a little at the children.
I was stunned at Reiner’s words and the children seemed to share my surprise. Suddenly, the tense atmosphere shifted into one of pure excitement.
“Yes!”
“Me too!”
“Let’s Play!”
“Mister...please carry me!”
“Me too! Me too!”
All the children started shouting all at once as they jumped up and down and wave their hands in the air to get Reiner’s attention.
“You’re supposed to be studying art, though...so let’s not play for too long or your teacher is going to get mad, ok?” Reiner said, sounding worried and tired before he bent down and picked up a small girl with ease.
The girl giggled and waved her arms when she was suddenly lifted into the air while I stared at her and then at Reiner in astonishment. Seeing that the girl got carried upwards, the other children shouted louder for them to get a turn. The whole place quickly resembled a playground more than an art classroom. I watched with a mix of confusion and amazement as Reiner put the little girl down and lifted a small boy up into the air while the other kids hugged his legs.
The scene in front of me feel warm and comforting. I wasn’t sure if Reiner was having fun with the children or not, but he was definitely doing a good job to entertain and manage them. I looked at the children’s smiling and laughing faces before I shifted my gaze to focus on Reiner. Something about the scene made me feel suddenly very emotion as feelings that I couldn’t quite identify tugged at my heartstrings.
I was too lost in thought and absorbed by what I was seeing that I didn’t realize that Celine came to stand quite close to me until she suddenly spoke up.
“Haha! It’s like this when King comes around too. Maybe the kids think that he’s King or someone similar. King likes to play with the children just like that too. It’s a shame that he can’t visit more often but then I know that he’s a very busy man,” Celine told me with a smile laugh.
“I see. It’s surprising...” I mumbled, not quite knowing what else to say.
Now that I think about it, King is probably as tall as Reiner, and they do share some remarkable resemblance to each other. I could tell that Reiner was King’ son even at first glance. It was remarkable how strong some genes are.
“Everyone! Enough please. This is not the way to treat our guests. Please stop playing and return to class!” the teacher decided to interrupt.
The children were clearly disappointed that their special playtime was over, but they were disciplined enough to step away from Reiner. Slowly, the children headed back to their art canvases, and I was able to breathe a sigh of relief. That surely was chaotic.
“Are you...ok?” I asked as I took his hand in mine and stared up at Reiner’s face.
He gave me a look that said, ‘do I look like I’m ok?’
Chapter 507: Reiner – When We Were Kids
“I didn’t know that you were so...popular with the kids,” I said teasingly before I smiled up at him.
Was this what he meant when he told me to ‘save’ him. I found the thought quite funny, and it took me a lot of effort to stop myself from giggling.
“I’m very sorry about that, Knight. It does happen sometime when King comes over. The kids really get excited and they really like playing with King so...” Celine quickly apologized but I could tell that she found the whole affair extremely entertaining.
“It’s fine...” Reiner murmured while looking slightly awkward.
I took Reiner’s hand and squeezed it comfortingly in mine before I smiled up at him sweetly. Reiner looked down at me before he let out another sigh. I thought that we probably should move on now before the kids would attack him again.
“Let’s continue on with our tour,” I suggested to Celine.
“Of course. Please follow me this way,” Celine said as she led the way.
...
After the tour ended, it was roughly time for the children to have lunch. Celine invited us to eat with them and I readily agreed. Reiner didn’t seem too enthusiastic about it, but he did come along with us without making a fuss.
“Please take a seat. We staff eat here with the children as well. I’ll get the cook to serve some food for you soon,” Celine said with a proud smile.
Thankfully, the staff ate here as well so there were normal-sized tables and chairs for adults. I had a big problem imagining Reiner sitting on the low bench and table along with the smaller children. Just the thought made me giggle to myself.
“Why are you laughing like that?” Reiner asked.
I looked up to see him staring at me with a dubious look on his face. He must think that I’m going crazy.
“Do you really want to know?” I asked teasingly.
“I guess...” Reiner replied as he continued staring at my face.
“I was just imagining you sitting down on the bench over there with the kids and...I thought that it was funny...” I confessed honestly while trying not to laugh again at the thought.
“Well, it’s good enough that you’re enjoying yourself,” Reiner said casually as he looked at the children.
This tour made me realize that I didn’t know what Reiner was like with kids. At first, I thought that he might be bad with them but then I wasn’t sure. He seemed very caring and good at reading people that I thought that may make him very good with dealing with kids. All in all, I had to say that I was beyond astonished and impressed at how the children seemed to take interest in him.
I never dreamt that he would be this popular with the kids nor that he could handle them so easily. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that he was naturally comfortable around them but dealing with over ten excited children at the same time was no easy feat for sure. I didn’t think that I could have done something like that.
This trip was starting to make me see Reiner in a new light that I wasn’t used to, and I had to say that I loved what I was seeing. This side of him made me feel very warm and fuzzy inside. I stared at him from across the table as we ate our lunch while many random thoughts ran through my head.
...
Since we had completed the tour and Reiner seemed more than satisfied with what he had seen so far, it seemed like we could leave for the day. After telling me that we should call it a day and head back, Celine turned up and invited us to visit the playground because some of the kids are on break right now.
“The playground is outdoors, and I think that the weather is quite nice right now. Why don’t you to go out and take a look?” Celine suggested warmly.
“That would be nice. Can we?” I turned to ask Reiner.
“Sure. If that’s what you want,” Reiner replied before wrapping an arm around my waist.
We followed Celine out of the building, and we immediately found ourselves in the playground that was located in the garden. There was nothing outstanding or unusual about the playground from other playgrounds that I’ve seen before. There was a field of grass where the children could run. Play structure for them to play on and a sand pit. Many boys ran around, engaged in a game of tag while some of the girls sat around to playing with their toys and laughing along with each other.
“It must be fun to be kids...” I mumbled as I wondered how I felt when I was younger.
Perhaps, my life was as happy and carefree as this before my mother married Lucien. It all seemed a long time ago and I couldn’t remember everything all that clearly. It was strange how good memories seem to fade much faster than the hurtful and bitter ones. I remembered all the bullying that I went through after going to the fancy school for Rosenhall children so clearly that it was ridiculous.
“Were you naughty and mischievous as a kid?” I asked as I suddenly turned to look at Reiner.
My question seemed to have caught him by surprise because his eyes widened before he started laughing a little. What was Reiner like when he was a kid? I should ask Queen about it more if Reiner doesn’t tell me everything.
“I don’t think so...” Reiner replied vaguely.
“Doesn’t that mean that you were?” I asked suspiciously.
“No. I was a well-behaved boy,” Reiner replied firmly.
“Really? I’m going to ask Queen all about it when we get back,” I threatened mockingly with a laugh.
Reiner just shook his head at me as if he couldn’t believe that I was really so serious about finding out about this.
“What were you like?” Reiner asked as he held my hand in his.
Chapter 508: Reiner - Love Confession
We slowly strode through the park as we watched the children play around leisurely. Celine was right about the weather being so perfect and nice outside. The wind blew softly against my face and the sun was the perfect level of warmth.
“Me? I think when I was very young...like before my mother married Lucien...I was a scared and timid little girl. I think for the longest time, I just didn’t want to be any more of a burden to my mother. Life was...difficult for us back then. I may have been young but even I could tell...” I replied honestly before trailing off.
Those days were harsh ones, but I was very close to my mother. After that, I thought life had gotten better but I wasn’t sure if it had. Then, she was suddenly gone and with her death, I lost many things...
“Sorry, you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to...” Reiner quickly apologized although it wasn’t his fault.
“Oh no. Not at all. Did I come across as sad and very troubled just now? It’s not like that...it’s all in the past now...so...” I said before smiling bravely up at him.
It’s all the in the past now. We have to move on now...
“Let’s take a seat here,” Reiner said as he led me to a bench on the side of the grass field.
“Ok...but I’m honestly ok. There’s really no need for you to worry about me,” I desperately made my case so that he wouldn’t have to worry needlessly about me.
“Let’s just rest and enjoy our time here for a bit,” Reiner replied casually.
“Sure...” I murmured.
Just sitting next to Reiner like this was very relaxing for me. Although we weren’t doing anything at all, it still felt very fulfilling to be with him just like this. Reiner held my hand in his as we enjoyed each other’s company in silence. My mind started reflecting on our little tour of the orphanage as I tried to think of ways to make King donate more of his wealth here to support this place.
It wasn’t like this place was in a bad shape, but thing could definitely be better, and the children could get more support if there were more funds. Before I knew it, I felt so invested in helping out this place and the children that I was strategizing on how to convince King. I glanced over to Reiner when I realized that the chances of success for this mission of mine would greatly increase if I could convince him to help me out as well.
“Umm...”
Suddenly, I heard a soft and tiny voice of a girl. Looking down, I found a girl standing right in front of us. I turned to Reiner when I found out that the girl was looking at him. Is she going to ask him to play with her?
Now that I think about it, this is probably one of the girls from the art class that he played with.
“Hello...” Reiner greeted the girl before he smiled warmly at her.
The girl’s eyes widened before she looked away as if embarrassed. It could have just been my eyes playing tricks on me, but I was quite sure that the little girl was blushing. This isn’t what I think it is it?
I glanced over at Reiner, amused to see what he was going to do in this situation. Reiner waited patiently for the girl to say something because it was clear that there was something that she wanted to say. To my utmost surprise, instead of speaking, the girl took out a flower that she had been hiding behind her back and thrusted it towards Reiner.
Wow...she’s giving him a flower. You go girl! You’re so bold. I wanted to cheer her on and clap my hands in encouragement but then I realized that it would be better if I just pretended that I didn’t exist. I couldn’t stop myself from smiling at the pure and innocence of her love and admiration. This might be a memory that she would go on to cherish for her entire life. It was funny but extremely adorable when I thought that Reiner might be this little girl’s first love.
“Is this for me?” Reiner asked in a gentle voice.
“Yes. This is for you...” the girl said with a smile.
Aww...the scene was so touching and sweet that I didn’t know whether I wanted to smile or sob. Reiner took the flower from the girl before smiling at her. The girl blushed a deeper shade of red and I thought that she was just too cute.
“I like you...” the girl mumble shyly.
She so cute. My heart truly adored her and her innocent love.
“Thank you so much but I’m very sorry. You see...I’m already married,” Reiner replied clearly and bluntly.
The smile that I had on quickly faded from my lips. What did he just say?
Oh no...she’s not going to start crying, is she?
...
“Seriously! Why did you have to say that to her?” I complained loudly when we were alone in the car on our drive back.
“Say what?” Reiner replied lazily.
“Tell her that you are married!” I cried out in utter disbelief.
How can he say that to the poor girl? She even confessed her feelings...
“I am married. You’re my wife...” Reiner repeated firmly as if I didn’t already know that.
That’s not the point!
“No! I mean...yes, I am your wife. What am I even saying? Still, you shouldn’t have said that to her even if you’re married. She’s just a little girl...” I tried to desperately to explain.
“You were the one who told me to make things clear so that there won’t be any misunderstandings and so that she can move on, right?” Reiner asked, clearly not seeing what he did wrong.
Oh, hell, I did say that...but this is just different! How can he not understand something like this?
“This and that are completely different things,” I countered passionately.
That little girl and Rachael are completely different cases.
“How so? Why are you fine with another girl hitting on your husband anyways?” Reiner asked with clear annoyance as he frowned slightly.
“Maybe because she’s like...I don’t know...6 or 7 years old?” I replied.
“You’re so hard to understand sometimes...” Reiner muttered under his breath while keeping his eyes on the road.
“Oh...what a way to break a little girl’s heart...” I moaned depressingly before rolling my eyes towards the heavens.
Chapter 509: Reiner - Depressing Truth
Before we travelled on our honeymoon, I thought that having a week-long trip may be too long. That coupled with the fact that we didn’t have anything planned truly made the trip seemed too long. However, when the week came to an end and we needed to head back, it just felt too short.
“It’s like we just got here...you know...” I murmured softly as I leaned my head on Reiner’s broad shoulder.
“I know what you mean but there’s no need to be so depressed about it. We can take another holiday anytime...” Reiner comforted me with his sweet words before planting a kiss on my forehead.
We were sitting on a hammock together by the beach. I could feel the fine grain of the sand against my toes and the wind blowing in from the sea on my face and bared arms. Tomorrow, we’re flying back home and that would be the end of our honeymoon trip. Although I knew that Reiner was right, we could take another trip together and it wasn’t like this was our last trip together, I still felt a little uneasy inside.
“I truly had fun on this trip. Thank you, R...” I whispered sweetly.
I grabbed his large arm and hugged it closer to my body. Reiner placed a hand on my head and started stroking my hair lovingly.
“I had fun too. Let’s go on more holidays...hopefully, we’ll have more free time soon,” Reiner said wistfully.
So much work must have piled up while we were gone. I bet that I could manage my work, but I believed that Reiner would have a much harder time clearing his work. Usually, he was always swamped with work even before our honeymoon. I wished that King would never retire because if Reiner had to take over King’s work as well, I couldn’t and didn’t want to imagine how busy he would be.
“The sunset here is so pretty. The sun looks bigger and fatter than normal...” I pointed out as I pointed at the setting sun in front of us.
The sun had started dipping below the horizon and how its reflection was reflected in the sea looked magical and very mesmerizing. Somehow the sun’s color looked brighter than normal.
“I’ll take you to see sunsets in difference places. Let’s go on more holidays together from now on, Natalia,” Reiner said it like a promise.
“I’d love to!” I proclaimed loudly and gleefully.
After jumping into his arms, Reiner had to wrap his arms rightly around me to hold me and keep me from falling out of the hammock. Although our honeymoon was coming to an end, I knew that everything would be fine because we still had so much time ahead of us.
...
“Are you sure that you didn’t forget anything?” Reiner asked.
“I’m sure. If we do forget something one of the staff can always mail it to us, right?” I replied hopefully.
“Yes, they sure can. Let’s go then,” Reiner said as he closed the car trunk.
Then we were on our way to the airport where Reiner would fly us back. After we got off the plane back at our home island, that would be the official end to our honeymoon trip. It was a little sad that our trip was coming to an end in just a couple of hours, but we sure made the most of this trip. There was just one thing that I needed to talk to Reiner about before we arrived back at the island.
Once everything was settled and we were up in the air for a while after take-off, I decided to bring up the topic that had been on my mind. It was hard for me to pick the right words to broach this topic with him because I knew that Reiner was a very honest, earnest, and straightforward person. It would probably be hard for him to twist the truth, but I really needed his help and I wanted to know what he thought as well.
“Umm...thank you for taking me to the orphanage with you. It was very fun and very eye opening for me,” I broached the topic carefully.
“I already told you that it wasn’t really my idea so there’s no need to give me any credit. It was all King’s idea and he’s the one funding that place,” Reiner replied before turning to grin at me.
“I’ve always wanted to ask about it, but I wasn’t sure if it would be rude or not, so I ended up not asking while we were there. Umm...about the children that are there...how did they end up there?” I asked while trying my best to pick the right words.
How did children from such diverse backgrounds end up in one place? Where did they come from? What happened to their parents? Why did they end up on a private island in a private orphanage like that?
“Was this what you were curious about all this time?” Reiner asked, although he did not sound surprised at all.
“Yes, sorry for bringing it up now,” I admitted honestly.
“It’s alright. It’s my fault for not telling you all the details beforehand. It’s not like it’s a secret or anything but it’s not a popular topic to discuss at the orphanage, especially if the children are around,” Reiner replied casually.
“I understand...” I mumbled with a nod of my head.
“Those children lost their parents during missions. They’re children of either agents who died or children that the agents picked up from war zones. If left the way they are, then most would die...” Reiner explained while looking very sympathetic.
“Oh...” I murmured at a loss for words.
What was I supposed to say to express how unfortunate it was or them and for everyone involved?
“For children of agents, it’s naturally King’s and the company’s responsibility to take care of them. In the fortunate cases where the child still had a mother or a father, then the company would provide financial support. In cases where the child doesn’t have anyone left then...” Reiner explained before trailing off.
Chapter 510: Reiner – Requesting for His Help
I got the overall picture without needing any more explanations. It was amazing that King and his company was doing all of this to help the children in need.
“Sorry to talk about something so depressing right at the end of our honeymoon...” I apologized softly.
Reiner didn’t seem to mind at all. For him, this topic was probably a sad one, but it was a topic that he had already gotten used to.
“It’s ok...” he replied before smiling charmingly at me.
My heart skipped a beat at how kind he looked. Now if only he would agree to help me with this one request...
“R...about the orphanage...” I began saying.
“What about it?” Reiner urged for me to go on.
“Umm...what are you going to report to King about the orphanage and you know...their request for more funding?” I asked in a small voice.
“I’ll summarize for him what I saw as it is, and he can make his decision regarding that. It’s his money and his orphanage,” Reiner replied without emotions.
“Do you think that King would approve for more budget?” I asked, hopefully.
“Maybe...but it’s up to him. The orphanage isn’t in a bad shape and won’t suffer greatly even without more funding,” Reiner replied passively.
“But things could be better for the children with more funding, right?” I pleaded my case passionately.
“Maybe...” Reiner replied non-committedly.
“Umm...would it be possible for you to help...convince King?” I dared to ask.
Reiner turned to look straight at me with a surprised look on his face. His blue eyes stared deeply into mine and I stared back. I just wanted the children to get more help.
“Please...I’m not asking you to make a false report or anything...” I pleaded once again.
Reiner closed his eyes and heaved a sigh. He seemed to think over my words for a moment before he spoke again.
“I know that you want to help the children. I do too and so does King. I’ll put in a few good words about how happy the children are and how kind the staff are because that is the truth. If you’re unhappy with that, you can always talk to King to convince him yourself. We all live in the same house, and you do know where to find him...” Reiner pointed out.
“Thank you! Thank you so much, R...” I thanked him happily.
Hopefully, things would work out and I wouldn’t need to talk to King about it.
...
**Two weeks later**
“Natalia...Natalia...”
I heard Reiner’s voice calling my name, but my eyelids were too heavy for me to lift them open. My mind also felt hazy and disorientated.
“Natalia...” Reiner called my name again and this time his hand started shaking my shoulder softly to wake me up.
“R...” I murmured his name sleepily when I managed to squint my eyes opened.
“I’m done for today. Let’s go home...sorry for keeping you waiting for so long...” Reiner apologized with a sad smile.
I lifted my head off the table and looked around. That’s right, we were still at the office. What time is it now?
My eyes wandered to the clock on the wall. 3AM.
“It’s totally fine. Let’s go home,” I replied begore smiling bravely at him.
This wasn’t the first and probably won’t be the last time that Reiner had to work this late at the office. The project was probably at its busiest part now with us implementing pilots that required short feedback loops to make necessarily adjustments as we went along. The faster those adjustments were made, the better the result should be. The result in this case could decide between the life or death of an agent or an entire team so it wasn’t surprising that Reiner was more than willing to lose sleep over this.
I hated the fact that he had to work so hard and the fact that he looked tired almost all the time. It also meant that we had very little time together in private but despite all that I came to respect him and his dedication to his work a lot more than ever before. Seeing him work so hard, encouraged me to work harder too. Most importantly, just like Lucien had told me, I needed to find what it is that I wanted to do in life. Helping out with the company was definitely what I wanted to do but the real question was how best I could help the company.
What can someone like me do that would be most helpful to the company as well as satisfying for me as an individual?
I let Reiner hold my hand in his much larger one as he led me from his office to where he had parked his car. All along the way, I remained silent as my mind worked hard to churn out some answers to the various burning questions at the back of my mind.
The following morning, I felt like I had slept much longer than normal. I was half-awake but I didn’t get out of bed as I waited for my alarm to go off. Reiner’s warmth along the length of my body told me that he was still holding me snuggly against his body. I breathed his scent in deeply as I enjoyed the peaceful time alone with him in bed. These times are so precious to me, especially since he had gotten so busy as of late.
At first, I thought that Reiner was still sleeping; however, the movement of his hands caressing softly against the small of my back before he began stroking the curves of my waist and my hips told me that he was very much awake. I moaned softly when his hands began stroking my ass before squeezing its cheek teasingly. He placed soft kisses along the side of my neck, and I moaned louder in response. His warmth breath against my sensitive skin felt blissful and I arched my neck to the side to expose more of my sensitive skin to his lips invitingly.
