Ch. 536..540: Forbidden Heat R18 Chapter 536-540
Chapter 536: Reiner – Grilling Pressure
Around a weak later when King and Queen returned, they were back to nagging the two of us about the same thing. Right after our 2-year wedding anniversary, King and Queen began seriously pressuring Reiner and me to have children. With Reiner preparing to take over the business from King and me figuring out the whole orphanage business, having children was the furthest thing from our minds. Now that things have settled down somewhat, my in-laws were back to applying pressure on us.
King had always been outspoken in pushing for us to have children so that there would be at least an heir to inherit this business empire while Queen was a little more understanding. Now that Reiner had taken over the business and my orphanage work had settled down, it seemed like we had run out of excuses not to produce an heir.
Dinner with my in-laws quickly became something that I dreaded because I knew what they would talk to us about. It doesn’t matter how good their moods were or what topic the conversation started off with, in the end, the conversation would steer towards asking us when we would start trying to conceive a child. At first, I tried to laugh it off or offer some kind of excuse. However, as time went by, the extent of their demands became too much to simply ignore or take lightly.
“Knight, when are you planning to have children?” Queen asked from across the dining table.
Great. This conversation has started again. I glanced over at Reiner to gauge his reaction. Reiner stared back at his mother with a set jaw before his hand moved to pierce the steak on his plate with his fork. His parents watched him in silence along with me as Reiner began cutting his steak into a small piece before shoving it into his mouth and chewing on it.
Queen blinked rapidly a couple of times when it became evident that Reiner had decided to completely ignore her and her query. At that point, the tension was so high that I didn’t know what kind of face I should be making. Reiner was probably beyond sick of hearing the same question asked over and over again over dinner and I couldn’t blame him.
“You’ve taken over the company now, it’s time that you start trying to make a baby. I don’t mean think about it, I mean to actually work on it,” King stated firmly.
I glanced over at Reiner. Once again, he had absolutely no reaction and no come back to what his father had said. It was like he didn’t hear anything at all. King’s stern gaze shifted from Reiner to me, and I froze. Great, what am I supposed to say now?
“Natalia, you want to have Knight’s children, right?” King asked cunningly.
“Well, yes...I do...” I replied in a small voice.
“Did you hear that? Your wife is waiting to have your child...” King said as he turned to Reiner.
“Thank you for inviting us to dinner. Natalia, let’s go...” Reiner said emotionlessly.
I didn’t have enough time to react before Reiner had gotten up from his seat and then his hand was yanking up my arm. He pulled me to my feet before dragging me away along with him. I turned to offer King and Queen an apologetic smile before following Reiner out of the room.
“I’m sorry...about that...” I apologized softly.
Although I wasn’t sure what I did wrong, I still felt like I should apologize for myself and also on behalf of King and Queen. Reiner was not in the best of moods and their intervention just now probably just made it worst.
“Come here...” Reiner said softly as he beckoned with his hand for me to come closer.
I took a few steps towards him until I stood right in front of him. Reiner let out a sigh as he pulled me into his warm embrace. His arms around my back felt heavier than usual and so did his head as he leaned it on top of mine.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that. I know that you’re tired...and sick of it...” I whispered to show him that I understood.
Reiner was beyond sick and tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. It drained him and he didn’t want to deal with it. Even I could guess as much. I was beginning to feel the same way. After that disastrous dinner, no one brought up the topic of us having children again for a few weeks. During that time, I began wondering how our lives would change if we had a child and if we were ready for those changes.
...
When the time came for my routine trip to visit one of the orphanages, I was thrilled to go on a trip. The best was that Reiner had agreed to come along. Miraculously, a few things in his schedule got moved around and he happened to be free for that week. He may have to work while we were away but that wasn’t something that we couldn’t figure out and accommodate.
“You look really happy...” Reiner said observantly.
“I do?” I asked with a laugh as if I didn’t already know that.
I was looking forward to seeing some of the new processes that the team had implemented at the orphanage. In addition, I looked forward to seeing and spending some time with the children. The cherry on top was that I would also get to see Kat. It had been so long since I got a chance to meet her. After trusting me and following me to that orphanage on that day, Kat had become an indispensable part of the team and had remained at that orphanage since.
“You really do...” Reiner stated with certainty.
“I can’t wait to go...” I admitted gleefully before my smile widened even further.
Reiner laughed at me, and I felt so happy that I could still bring a smile to his face. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that the relationship between us was strained because of the issue of having children but that topic did become sort of taboo between us, and when faced with it, things did become a little awkward.
Chapter 537: Reiner – Love and Warmth
Just like all the time when we arrived on this island, the weather was perfect. Because I wanted to save on Reiner’s energy, I refused his offer to fly us over and had a pilot do the work instead. It was very difficult for me to contain my excitement and I ended up almost running down from the plane when we landed.
The orphanage had changed quite a bit compared to the first time that I was here. The most noticeable change from the outside was that the garden was now much smaller and less elaborately decorated. That was one of the decisions that I made to cut some maintenance cost. To compensate for that, a part of the garden had been remodeled into a library and activities room for the children instead.
As time went by, the children grew up. From the babies and young toddlers, these children will one day grow into young teenagers and then young adults. As the children grew older, their support and educational requirements also changed. To prepare for that, I had built in facilities that would facilitate their learning as well as hired teachers.
“You’re finally here!” Kat cried out happily before throwing her arms around my neck and hugging me tight.
“It’s great to be back here,” I replied before I started to laugh.
“Welcome back, Knight,” Nick greeted Reiner with a polite smile.
Miraculously, the first batch of staff that followed Reiner and me to the island were still there and the team had gotten even bigger from then on. Some of the teacher who were free also came to greet us. Everything was progressing so well and smoothly now that it was hard to believe that this place used to be in shambles.
“We have a small batch of children arriving today, right?” I asked enthusiastically.
It was always a little joy of mine to welcome new children to the orphanage. It was a bittersweet feeling knowing that some misfortune had led these children here, but at least, we could provide them with some help now.
“That’s right. Not so many for this batch. I think it’s around five or six...” Kat replied before she smiled at me.
“Hopefully having fewer of them means that there are less orphans out there...” I said, although I knew that that was so far from the truth.
Just like many times in the past, I witness a bus driving up to the front steps of the orphanage to deliver the newest batch of children to us. Unlike the many times in the past, Reiner was standing by my side with my hand in his this time around. Kat and Nick quickly greeted and welcomed the children while Reiner and I watched on. The children seemed in good spirits although a little confused after arriving at their new home. The other staff went in to help Kat and Nick.
Just like before, I found my lips curving up into a smile so naturally at the heart-warming scene of the team leading the children into the orphanage building. My heart felt so full that it brought some tears of happiness to my eyes. I blinked it all away before those tears could fall.
“You really like children, don’t you?” Reiner asked and his voice was so tender.
I turned to see Reiner staring intently at my face. While I was observing the team and the children, it seemed like Reiner had been observing me.
“Yeah...I guess I truly realized that when I started helping out at the orphanage,” I confessed with a small smile.
Reiner seemed to ponder my words for a short while in silence before he spoke up again.
“Do they make you feel less lonely?” he asked with intense interest.
“Yes, probably. It might be because I’m sort of a like an orphan in some way after my mother passed away. Of course, I had much better support from Lucien compared to the other children...but still...it was difficult, and I felt very alone at times. I won’t say that I truly understand the children’s hardships, but I guess I do understand a little how they feel, and I don’t want any child to feel scared and alone,” I explained while trying to keep myself from getting too emotional about this.
Reiner seemed to take in my words before he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into his warm hug. It must have looked like I needed some comforting. I had many emotional scars for sure from what I’ve been through as a child and then some when I grew older. Unfortunately, these scars may not completely disappear but over the years, they sure have healed up quite well. On top of that, I have gotten stronger and more independent. As time went by, those scars bothered me less and less.
“Did I cause you to worry about me again? I’m so sorry. There’s really nothing for you to worry about. I don’t feel bad for myself and what I’ve been through. I’m just happy that I can help others, that’s all,” I told Reiner to ease his worry.
“You’re too kind,” Reiner whispered softly as his hand moved up to stroke my hair lovingly.
He didn’t say anything more and I decided to remain silent as I basked in the joy and warmth of his tender embrace. I had no idea how long we stood there in front of the orphanage just embracing each other. Hopefully, no one was there to see us.
...
In few days into our trip to the orphanage, we managed to carve out enough time to have a celebratory dinner with the staff and some teachers who were willing to join us. It wasn’t anything fancy and we just decided to have our dinner at the orphanage’s cafeteria because most people had an early morning the following day.
“Natalia, can I get a minute?” Kat asked as she snuggled up to my side.
“Sure...” I replied.
Kat got up from her seat and beckoned with her hand for me to follow after her. I wondered what she wanted to talk about that had to be done in private.
Chapter 539: Reiner – Plans to Make a Baby
“I think they are a great match, though. He’s not like any of those bad boys that she’s dated before. I think that Nick can really make her happy,” I said hopefully.
“Good for them then,” Reiner commented without much passion.
“Oh, one more thing. Kat’s already pregnant with his child so they’re planning to get married in less than a month,” I added before giggling.
The joyous look on Kat’s face when she told me about her pregnancy truly stuck with me. I’ve never quite seen her happy in that way before. It was like I could tell from the look in her eyes that she was truly looking forward to the future because she would get to meet her baby soon. Nine months sounds like a long time, but I guess time can fly by just like that as well. I can’t wait to see Kat’s child and lavish the lucky baby with gifts and so much loving attention. Without realizing it at first, I was looking forward to welcoming Kat’s baby to the world with extreme excitement.
“I can’t wait to see their baby. It’ll be so fun and play with the baby. I’ll be like an auntie or something...” I said dreamily before I turned to smile at Reiner.
I’ll be an auntie of sorts and Reiner will be the uncle.
“Do you want to have a baby now too?” Reiner asked out of the blue.
His unexpected words caught me off guard and I wasn’t quite sure how to feel or how to react. His question sounded more honest instead of suggestive; however, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to have a baby right now...or do I?
Reiner’s magnificent blue eyes watched me intently as he waited patiently for my answer. I pursed my lips as I put effort into evaluating my own feelings. Just because Kat is pregnant, it doesn’t magically make me feel like I have to get pregnant too. I am not that illogical but if I were to consider other things. We’ve been married for a while now and work seemed to have settled down. This might not be a bad time in our life to seriously considering trying to make a baby.
“Should we...give it a try?” I asked in a small voice as I suddenly felt extremely shy.
I wasn’t sure how I expected Reiner to react. Usually, he wouldn’t say anything or say passively that it was all up to me. So, it was quite surprising to me when he started laughing softly before he pulled me into a tight embrace and stroked his fingers through my hair. I could feel his body shaking slightly from his laughter and I couldn’t help but wonder what he found so funny about all this.
“What’s so funny?” I asked.
“Nothing’s funny. Your reaction was just so adorable...” he replied after collecting himself.
Reiner face came close to mine and then he planted a soft kiss on the tip of my nose and then my cheeks in order. He then smiled at me like he knew exactly what I was thinking.
“R...” I whispered his name.
“Just get off the pill when you’re ready. I think you’ll be pregnant in no time at all,” Reiner stated with absolute confidence.
“Really?” I asked, stunned at how easy this seemed to be going.
Had he finally given in? I couldn’t help but smile up at him hopefully.
“Yes, you’ll be pregnant in no time...” Reiner reaffirmed with certainty.
This time it was my turn to laugh at him. I didn’t mean that when I asked but I could understand why he seemed too sure about all this. It didn’t take more than a second for me to decide that I’ll be skipping my pill right away.
Maybe if we do it right, I can have a child around the same age as Kat’s. Now that wouldn’t be a bad thing, right? They’ll grow up and be great friends just like their mothers.
“Thank you, R. I love you,” I thanked him wholeheartedly.
...
Despite agreeing on the start of our ‘baby-making project’ it wasn’t like we seriously started right away. I had a lot of work to clear at the orphanage before we could make our way back to the main island. Seeing Nick and Kat happily together after announcing their relationship gave me so much motivation to succeed in my new little mission as well.
Secretly, I began planning a getaway trip for Reiner and myself. Call me desperate or whatever you like, but I wanted to get a good move on this before Reiner had a chance to change his mind about this matter. During one of our dinners at home together, I brought this trip idea up to Reiner.
“Let’s go on a holiday trip together soon. I’ve planned everything so I’m sure that it’s going to be fun,” I proposed brightly with a little teasing stress on the word ‘fun’.
Reiner seemed to catch up on my intentions immediately because he grinned charmingly at me as his blue eyes seemed to gleam.
“Is this like another honeymoon trip?” Reiner asked teasingly.
Not quite.
“No...it’s a baby-making trip,” I replied bluntly before flashing him a bright smile.
He did tell me the other day to get off the pill when I was ready, right?
Well, I am so ready!
Reiner began laughing openly at my blunt honestly. Thankfully, this issue was no longer awkward between us and we could even joke out it. Perhaps it was going to be better for us if we could work together at this and have fun at it at the same time.
“Where are we going?” Reiner asked with interest.
“This private resort that Queen found on top of a mountain!” I declared enthusiastically.
After Queen caught me researching for romantic getaway spots on this island, she quickly caught on to what I had planned. Of course, when I told her that we wanted to go on a private getaway, her eyes widened, and she nodded in understanding. She was so excited that I thought about managing her expectations on this a little. Yes, we were going on a trip but that doesn’t mean that I was guaranteed to become pregnant on this trip.
Chapter 540: Reiner – Baby-making Trip
“Are you even ovulating these coming days?” Reiner asked, surprisingly seriously.
Now that he mentioned it...
“Umm...” I murmured.
“I take it that you don’t even know that...” Reiner said before heaving a sigh.
“We can keep trying until the baby arrives, right? This is just our first trip...” I replied with a smile.
“So, there’s supposed to be more...” Reiner muttered softly but I caught every word that he said.
“We both worked so hard and we’re freer these days. Going on more trips should be great, right? Maybe we won’t get to travel together as much when we have a baby...” I said in a sweet voice before I continued smiling at him.
I looked forward to our trip so much that I spent some time each night packing our bags. Reiner watched me with an amused look on his face almost every evening as I packed and then repacked our bags over and over again.
...
The start of our trip finally arrived, and I woke up bright and early in excitement. It seemed like no matter how early I woke up; I couldn’t beat Reiner at waking up early in the morning. Reiner was already up and in the kitchen by the time that I made my way down while still in my pajamas.
“Good morning, Natalia,” Reiner greeted me.
“R...good morning. Let’s hurry and head out...” I said before taking my usual seat at the table.
“Eat your breakfast first. There’s no need to rush,” Reiner said a little sternly, but I didn’t miss the slight amusement in his tone.
He must have found my eagerness funny. I ate my breakfast so fast that I almost choked on the food. Reiner just laughed at my plight while he patted my back to help me swallow my food properly.
“This is exactly why I told you not to rush things...” Reiner said with a chuckle.
“Let’s head out soon...” I repeated adamantly.
“You’re not even dressed...” Reiner pointed out.
I hated how he seemed to be right at every single thing.
The resort that I picked out based on Queen’s recommendation was on a hill out of the city which meant that it was almost a two-hour drive from where we were. I was too excited throughout the entire drive there while Reiner just found my enthusiasm funny.
“Today is such a perfect day for a date,” I commented as I looked out the window of the car.
“You’re right. Hope this weather holds up for the entire week,” Reiner replied.
“That’s right because this trip is going to last the whole week!” I cried out with excitement.
One whole week alone with Reiner on a baby-making trip is going to be awesome. Unlike our honeymoon, we won’t be disturbed by the task of saving an orphanage from ruin either. Suddenly, the future seemed so bright and hopeful.
The resort was everything that I could ever dream of for a private and romantic getaway. It was located on top of a hill that was quite challenging to drive up, but to compensate for that, the place was truly private. The owner seemed to be a friend of Queen’s who rented out the whole place to guests like us so that we could enjoy a private getaway. There were a few staffs that would be there to support us if we needed but apart from that we had the place to ourselves.
The place resembled a medieval castle of sorts and had a very mysterious vibe that I found to be very attractive. Reiner seemed impress with the place as well although he wasn’t the type of voice his thoughts so much. Thankfully, Reiner wasn’t a picky person at all. It was quite scary how easy going he was with everything. Two friendly staff were there to greet us and take us on a tour of the place and facilities so that we knew how to get around and use everything.
“We really recommend this trial to trek around the property in the mountain if you’re into that. The view during the sunrise and sunset is really worth it,” one of the staff recommended as she took out a rough illustrative map of the area.
“Apart from that there are many facilities that you can enjoy. The outdoor hot bath is a favorite for many of our visitors and so is the outdoor camping ground. If you’re into camping or want the experience of sleeping outdoor for the night, then this would be great for you,” the other staff chimed in with her own recommendation.
As someone who had a phobia of the forests in the past, I wasn’t absolutely keen on some of the choices but the look of interest on Reiner’s face told me that we’ll definitely end up in the forest for one thing or another for sure. Facing your fears is definitely a way to get over it.
We thanked the staff politely and then they took their leave. Finally, we were left alone to enjoy each other’s company. The living room had such a comfortable looking sofa set that I couldn’t help but jump on it. A sigh escaped my lips as I began stretching lazily on the sofa. I watched Reiner put our things away while I thought about what we should do for the day.
“R...what do you want to do for today?” I asked sweetly.
“Anything is fine,” he replied without even bothering to think about it.
Even if that was true, it would be great if I could get his input.
“The staff mentioned the trek...do you want to go?” I asked with a knowing smile.
“I don’t think it’s really a trek. More like a stroll or a walk through a path in the forest. If you don’t want to go, we don’t have to...” Reiner replied.
Isn’t that like saying that we should go, or I’ll die from the guilt?
“I want to! Let’s go!” I cried out enthusiastically as I jumped up from the sofa onto my feet.
