Chapter 51

"If you don’t hold my waist. How would we dance?" Talia inquired, hands still on his shoulders waiting for him to make a move.

"Um...." He lowered his gaze and she smirked with desire in her eyes at his cute demeanor.

"I’ll help you." With that, she grabbed his arms and placed it just below her back, cupping his hands around her tiny waist. She placed her arm back on his shoulders, a satisfied smile on her face.

She slowly moved her legs and hips and soon, he flowed in the rythm of her steps and the song. Her waist rocking against his hand as he danced, sent pleasant but cold shivers up his spine.

Talia was so beautiful tonight. Looking at her, he didn’t even notice the others and only concentrated on just her, the music and her smile. Her jet black hair was left to cascade down her back just stopping a few inches above her waist line. Her dazzling but dim green eyes looked like they had sparkles in them.

She wore a strapless gown and heels to match.

"You don’t look like you’re happy to dance with me." Talia spoke up when she noticed he was looking down most of the time they danced.

He looked up, almost snapping his neck at that instance as his face flushed red.

"N-No... that’s not it." He stammered, shaking his head.

"Then what?"

"It’s just..." He racked his brain for a possible excuse and almost exploded when Talia smiled at him. "M... My shoes"

She stopped smiling.

"Your shoes? Do they hurt you."

He pretended to grimace, feeling hot at her worried gaze. He felt guilty lying to her.

"Just a bit." He abruptly stopped dancing and pulled back, avoiding eye contact with her. "Excuse me." He left her just standing there, the gazes of people nearby, falling on her.

Holding her dress some inches off the floor, she turned back to the levated platform to sit down; in time to see Koan leading Nancy to the dance floor.

She sat down and watched the pair with renewed interest ignoring Jephthah who was at the food court, whiling his time by piling food upon food on his plate.

But soon after, she couldn’t keep her eyes off him especially when a group of young women gathered him, swirling their glass of wines in their hands, slutty gazes in their eyes as they spoke to him.

For some reason, she squeezed her fists, her nails grinding on her soft palm. After a while, she blinked on the realization that she was hurting herself. Why was she bothered anyway? With a scoff, she looked away. However her gaze would always go back there to where he stood.

Koan coughed uncomfortably when he felt her plump bottom in his huge manly hands. She didn’t even look bothered and was enjoying herself, dancing in his arms, her two hands almost choking him as she wound it tightly around his neck.

Sighing, he moved his hand upward, sliding it over her hips, up to her waist, not in the least bothered by how his actions just affected her. His hands travelling up her body caused shivers to run down her spine. The good kind that forced her to bite her lip and stare into his eyes until he was forced to glare back at her, only for his eyes to widen on seeing the desire in her eyes.

This kid was shameless, huh?

"Don’t" He managed to wheez out, already irritated but expertly moving along with her and the music on the crowded dance floor.

"Don’t do what?" She whispered, her eyes not leaving his.

Jaw ticking and hardening in anger, he looked away.

"... Don’t look at me like that"

"Like how?" Came the innocent question and he almost face-palmed himself.

Dora returned to the table and steathily took off her heels which were killing her. She had excused herself from the dance floor, leaving John with all the ladies’s attention which he seemed to enjoy.

She almost chuckled when she saw Talia’s face extorting with anger at every move a young girl made on Jephthah.

She directed her gaze to Jephthah and truly, several women had him surrounded and were giving him googly lovy eyes while many offered him drinks like they were the hostess around. It just made Talia so mad and irritated and the fact that Jephthah patiently stood there and talked to them like it was nothing odd infuriated her the more.

She glared at Dora who couldn’t hold back and chuckled again but this time, a bit louder.

"I don’t see what you found funny just now." She icily stated.

"Ohhh," Dora laughed some more, holding her chest like she was going to die of breathlessness. "It doesn’t have to be funny to you..."

Talia turned, ready to ignore, not in the mood to exchange words with her tonight.

"You know..." Talia didn’t turn even as Dora began talking. "Men like Jephthah may be blind to women’s body language, enabling them to misjudge a situation and make an error that could jeopardize a possible relationship. That’s why women like you frequently wonder why men like him haven’t noticed you or asked you out or something like that."

Talia turned and her eyss widened as she quickly denied. "I ...I don’t like Jephthah like that!!!"

"Yeah and pigs can fly." Dora rolled her eyes. "It’s obvious you’re head over heels for him, you sl*t."

"I’m not. S-So ...stop saying nonsense." She stuttered, turning back to beckon an Omega to bring a tray of wine. She picked a glass of cocktail and Dora did the same.

"Look at that woman over there." Dora pointed out and Talia turned to see Jephthah fiddling cutely with his drink, looking down while a woman who was bold enough from the others that stood apart, had her elbow on his shoulder, her other hand on her waist. She looked very beautiful, had nice curves and her sharp chocolate brown eyes complimented her raven black hair.

Talia turned away quickly, her lips curled over her straw as she took a sip of her cocktail wishing the taste could help her unsee what she had just seen. She glanced up at Dora.

"What about her?"

"Listen Talia, There are some certain body language norms you have to master and not always going straight to the point all the time."

Talia sighed. If she was going to keep denying it from anyone, she couldn’t hide it from Dora.

"Why are you telling me this anyway. Don’t we hate each other or something?"

Chapter 52

"Yeah, but I just feel like giving you some girl advice. I’m In the mood to talk to someone after all. Brittany’s with her mate and Nancy isn’t really much of a person talk more of someone to chat with."

"Hey," Talia glared at her, snapping her head up from where she sipped her cocktail. "You will not talk about my best friend like that to me "

Dora rolled her eyes.

"What-ever."

Talia calmly shrugged after a second had passed.

"I’m not sure if I just find him cute or I don’t know... maybe I really like him."

Dora blinked.

"I could see the blood lust in your eyes just staring at those women approaching him. It’s obvious you love him."

"Love is kind of a strong word. Don’t you think? and I’m certain he doesn’t feel the same way about me...."

"You don’t know that." Dora said and took a sip of her cocktail, locking eyes with some men on the dance floor who were staring at her In awe. She almost smiled in pride. She was gorgeous and she knew it. She couldn’t wait to see the shocked faces of these people by the next ceremony. The Luna naming ceremony.

"Then how will I?"

"Simple. Body language. Watch how he reacts to your body language. It’s easy..."

"..for you to say" She completes her sentence and Dora smirked.

Suddenly John walked back to his seat and collapsed on it and grabbed Dora’s cocktail.

"Hey!!"

"Cool it princess." He tauntingly remarked and downed the whole cup. "I feel like devouring two life pigs."

"There’s a food court at the party, you can just go there, you know." Talia chipped in, boringly swirling her cocktail with her straw.

"Come on Talia. Let’s get some food and John’s while we’re at it." Dora suddenly said, already putting on her shoes.

This time, Talia wasn’t even surprised.

She knew Jepthaph was at the food court with the women and wanted to see her go over and knock over a girl to unconsciousness but Talia have been trained to endure and ignore. She would show Dora.

Offering a fake smile at Dora’s, she gets up, adhering to something John said about fried chickens and chicken nuggets.

Once they arrive at the table, Dora went round, dishing some food onto a plate while Talia beckoned an Omega to help her with some paper plates.

Jepthaph was staring at her from the corner of his eyes ever since she joined him at the table but half his attention was on the raven head in front of him, by name, Angel.

Talia ignored them completely but some part of her couldn’t help but eavesdrop on what they were saying and she almost lost her compusure when Angel turned and suddenly said outloud for almost everyone at the table to hear.

"Wow! I love the length of your hair, it’s so pretty!"

Talia was lost for a moment because she thought she was talking to Jephtaph but when she realized that people had begun staring at her, she looked up and saw that the raven head was smiling at her.

She was pretty but her smile irked her.

Her hand paused over the paper plates as she said,

"Thank you."

It looked like Angel was about to come close for a conversation but she quickly left the table before anything happened, hearing a scoff from Dora who smirked at her retreating back.

She dropped the plate of food before John so abruptly that the entire thing almost ended up on the floor.

John jumped in his seat.

"What is your problem?!"

"Why?" She suddenly sat down and turned to him and he shrank back under her glare. "Why, huh? What’s the problem? Did I do something wrong? I got you your food like you wanted, didn’t I?"

"Whoa. Chill Talia..." He had seen her burst into anger like this before but that was because...

As she turned away from him to hold her head, her elbow on the table, he gazed at where his twin stood, a girl obviously trying to flirt with him.

He winced and turned away to eat,not knowing what to say to Talia.

At that moment, the clock rang six times in the pack village, resounding at the venue. 6:00pm.

Immediately, it was like a burning heat was ignited in her chest. Her hands and legs quivered unknowingly with desire and the scent of an expensive cologne and cherry drifted into her nose, shattering her resonance and resolve. Her senses seemed to be heightened as her taste and scent organs fought for dominance within her.

Desire flooded her eyes and they lowered as she suddenly grabbed Kaon closer by his shoulders and whispered into his ear with the most seductive voice he had ever heard.

"Mr. Alpha sir... Why do you smell so good?"

**

The car swerved right almost driving into a tree, missing Marcy by a hair’s breath. In shock, the woman had fallen back to the ground.

"Mum!!!" Barton yelled in panic and jumped off the car, Naomi behind him, Daniel stepping out with difficultly.

He grabbed his mother who was holding her head, one elbow on the ground along with her arm.

She slapped his hands away and got up.

"Where have you been?!"

"Aunt please..." Daniel started, trying hard not to wince at that pain as he approached her standing just next to Naomi.

"The elders ...the shaman ...they’re all gathered with everyone at the pack and you ...Daniel how could you do this" Marcy didn’t let him speak. "You’re jeaopartizing your position as the Alpha of the pack. Your intolerant behavior will not acceptable here. You may have thought you could act nonchalantly because you feel you’re the Alpha. But that’s just immature of you...you kept so Many people waiting!!"

"Aunt!!!" He suddenly roared and the woman froze, eyes spamming with something unfathomable in them.

Danile tried hard not to yell at her but just as he made to speak, he groaned and bent down, Naomi already rushing to his side.

Marcy was shocked, still stricken at his loud voice that she just stood there and watched her nephew fighting back a pain she didn’t even know about.

A faint sound of six rings echoed in the forest, the winds rustling the tress like they were beckoning to it.

"It’s already six. We’re late but it’s better than not arriving at all" Danile managed to speak, Naomi almost bulking under his weight as she held his arm across her shoulders.

He turned to Barton.

"Let’s go."

With that, he turned and Naomi led him back to the car while Marcy just stood there looking at their retreating backs as they climbed into the car.

"Mum, let’s go" Barton reminded her, grabbing her arm gently.

"D...Daniel..." Her voice trembled. "Wh... what happened to him. I can sense he isn’t alright."

Chapter 53

"Mum... Daniel is fine, okay?" He was quick to cut in. The two were still standing some meters away as they discussed. "We have to go now"

Reluctantly, she got into the car. Daniel had sat in the back with Naomi so she sat next to Barton, on the Passenger’s seat.

Daniel leaned his head on Naomi’s shoulders, his jaw hardening as he fought the unbearable pain. Naomi who had been looking out the window with a lost lqook in her eyes suddenly flinched on feeling the weight on her shoulders.

She felt ...weird just watching him from a close perspective as he closed his eyss in pain, his hair nuzzling against her cheek, his long lashes resting on his cheekbones.

Marcy was staring at the pair through the rear view mirror without their notice and felt her heart flutter just like it did in the morning when Brittany and Royce had slept against one another while standing up.

With shaky hands, Naomi raised it up to his hair and stroked it while muttering in a trembling soft voice.

"It’s okay... it’s okay... "

He couldn’t understand what happened next but somehow, her soothing voice and the feeling of her hand against his hair calmed him down and the burning sensation on his stomach lessened instantly.

He opened his eyes like he couldn’t just believe what happened and rolling his head over, he placed his jaw on her shoulders and stared intently at her.

She didn’t even know what was going on or how much those small actions of hers had affected him. Flinching under his gaze, she turned and they locked eyes.

She wanted to pull away as those metallic blue eyes dug deep into her crystal blue ones but she was captured by them and couldn’t move a muscle.

"We’re here." Barton’s loud voice boomed out, snapping all three of them to look out the window. Daniel still kept his gaze on her even as she moved away from him but only after a short while, he followed suit and they all left the car.

"The naming ceremony would barely take up to 30 minutes. You’ll just perform the necessary rites as assigned by the Shaman, do the blood oath and a sample of your blood would be needed after." Marcy explained as she substituted Naomi, holding Daniel by putting his arm around her shoulders while Barton was at his other side.

After assuring Naomi that he would be okay, Marcy had sternly told her to go into the crowd and enjoy herself. This womam was always cooped up in the house doing chores. Tonight was a night of liberty. She could make friends, dance and party. Naomi wasn’t elated about that but she went to the party for Marcy’s sake.

Before Daniel was brought to the elavated platform, Talia spotted Naomi standing out of place in the crowd of partyers. It was like she was a fae brought out from a fantasy book and let out into the gloomy dark forest. It wasn’t a surprise that many male werewolves approached her immediately, not minding her status. Some mistook her for an Alpha’s daughter even.

Naomi was having a hard time trying not to turn them down but not wanting to dance with them either. She just wanted to hide away from the ugly hot sizzling glares she received from the females and sip a simple glass juice.

A sigh of relief literally left her lips when she spotted Talia approaching her from afar along with Brittany who let Royce off when he complained about wanting to get some rest. She was still energetic like Talia so they dragged Naomi to the dance floor and just in time, a fast song began playing.

Koan couldn’t deny he felt the same way at that moment, the desire to mark her. The searing hot feeling, the sparks he felt just by touching her. The scent of dark chocolate and fruity punch causing his senses to roll and turn his brain to a mess.

It wasn’t hard for him to guess why he felt that way either...

Moon goddess with all due respect, you’ve got to be kidding me, He thought as he pulled back and started leaving. He wasn’t sure where he was heading to but as long as he didn’t get to see her face or have her scent turn his wolf wide with desire and lust. His wolf was madly fighting in the constraints of his mind and body as he got farther from his mate.

Confusion and excitement danced like stars in her eyss but she followed him like an excited child. No one could be ignorant to what just happened. She had found her mate and of all people...yes!!! Of all people... it was him. She had had a huuuge crush of the Alpha at first sight. He had a scary personality but she only found herself getting more and more attached to him and now he was hers!! Her mate!!!

"Where are you going?" She innocently asked when he walked away from the party venue and climbed down a sloppy hill.

She looked down to see he had kept walking like he was In a trance.

"Mr. Alpha sir!!!" She yelled but he didn’t even flinch under her loud voice.

She looked back and noticed the two of them had walked far off from the party venue. She could only hear the faint sounds of music and people cheering, clapping and shouting, singing to the music.

She looked back down and after pursing her lips, she sat on the ground and pulled off her heels and tossed them down the hill. She followed after them, by sliding down, almost breaking her leg as she clumsily slides down.

"Mr. Alpha!!!" She called out again, grabbing her heels in one hand and chasing after him, barefooted. From afar, she could see his back as he dissappeared into a forest with huge trees.

If she lost him....

She thought, her heart beating as she ran faster. She caught up with him, panting, her heels on the ground, her hands holding her knees as she gasped for air. She eventually caught up with him because he had stopped, if Not, she’d have been running for a while since his strides were very long and he walked fast.

When she looked up, he suddenly turned, clearly knowing she had followed him like he wanted and was standing behind him. Nancy gasped as she felt her back hit the bark of a tree very hard.

She whimpered but the cry of pain stuck in her throat when she locked eyes with him. If Koan had been mean-looking all these while, right now, he looked like a demon, ready to eat her alive. His eyes reeked of irritation and anger as he glared at her, his claws digging into her shoulders.

"....Mr....you’re hurting me..." She felt tears pool In her eyes at the hatred burning in his.

He suddenly chuckled maniacaly and she froze. She had always wanted to see him smile Or laugh but right now she didn’t even want to look at his scary features hardening in anger, any longer.

"A fuvking kid," He finally said, his eyes buried deep in hers. "My mate is a fuvking kid"

"I...just turned 18 today." She almost pouted as she said, well aware that her shoulders were bleeding badly from his claws piercing her skin. "That’s the legal age of adulthood."

"Age doesn’t determine maturity, Nancy. You act like a kid...like a little child. Did you expect the Alpha of the third largest Pack of the werewolves territory to have a Luna like you. A hopeless cause."

The tears finally ran dwon her eyss. She couldn’t quite understand his words and her shoulders were hurting but every word he said was filled with so much spite that she felt her heart wrench in pain and agony at them.

She looked down and the tears dripped to the floor. She couldn’t even feel the pain anymore and just sobbed.

"I just...really like you Mr. Alpha...and I’m willing to do anything to be the best possible Luna you need for your pack."

"Oh don’t make me laugh harder than I already did. Do you really think I’d want you as my mate. Just look at you." He stepped back, not in the least surprised that her sky blue colored belt top was now red at the shoulder area.

Nancy staggered but she placed her body back on the tree and forced herself to meet his eyes.

"Full name. Let’s get this over with." He nonchalantly asked, not looking her in the eyes even as she stared intently at him with her eyes dripping tears.

Chapter 54

Her father had rejected her and had offered her position to Pamela who hated her guts just like her step mother who loathed her and now ...

Her mate was going to reject her.

She kept mute and slowly shook her head and she looked at him with a pleading look in her eyes. If her father learnt of this, he’d disown her and force her to swear off the blood oath from Ruby Stone’s pack and she’d become a rogue.

She fell to to her knees and clasped her hands together, tears running down her eyes as she met with his.

"Don’t do this..."

He bent down to her height with a stony face void of any emotions.

"You’re wasting my time ....Nancy"

Sniffing and wiping her tears with the back of her head, she stands up, knowing it was no use begging him.

She still didn’t talk but hid her face In the crook of her shoulders, wiping her eyes. She wasn’t going to tell him even if he ripped her into shreds.

"Alpha Henry Maguire." He suddenly said and she froze on the realization that he just mentioned her father’s surname which meant....

"Nancy Maguire." He chuckled darkly at her shocked expression. "Did you really think I wouldn’t figure out if you didn’t want to tell me."

"Please," Tears began forming in her eyes as she came close to him. "Don’t do this...if you do it, my father will disown me." She suddenly screamed and his eyes widened, Koan startled. "He will turn me into a rogue and he will send his people to hunt me down and kill me ...Koan don’t do this!!!"

"I will reject you". He regained his compusure and began talking calmly. "..and the moon goddess will find you a mate again ...I’m not your destined mate Nancy and you know that."

"Are you saying the moon goddess made a mistake? She doesn’t know what she’s doing?"

"In our case...yes" He replied stiffly and almost immediately chanted the words she dreaded.

"I, Alpha Koan of the Crescent Moon’s pack hereby....ooofgh!!!" He couldn’t finished the sentence when Nancy landed a knee in his groin and stepped back, eyes wide in horror as she watched him stagger back while groaning in pain.

He suddenly glanced up at her and their eyes locked. Fear shrouded her other emotions as she turned and began running deeper into the woods. Growling, he pounced In the air, shifting into a midnight black wolf with sharp blue eyes. He began chasing her and when Nancy turned, she screamed and increased her pace on seeing the large wolf chasing after her.

After a minute and the wolf behind looked like it was gaining on her, she jumped In the air and shifted into a magnificent grey colored wolf with bright crimson red eyss and she ran faster and faster, her paws digging into the dirt and tossing them into the air, her hind paws following from behind.

The two wolves ran for several minutes. Koan was gaining in on Nancy but determination shone in her red eyes and she ran as fast as she ever did, growling when the scent of her mate got close by the second. Gradually, she grew tired and weak as she ran. Her paws digged shallowly into the dirt and her tongue fell across her jaw. Soon enough, she shifted back to her human form and fell weakly to the ground, dust rising in the air at the effort of her fall.

The night wind brushed slightly against her naked skin and her vision blurred as she stared at the silhouette of a man coming towards her.

"I can’t believe she fainted. This kid..." He muttered in irritation. He had thought she had shifted back in surrender but she had actually shifted to faint in the prescence of the Alpha. Grumbling, he bent and scooped her body up, enfolding her in his embrace. Body nudity wasn’t a big deal when it came to werewolves but he couldn’t help but feel alert and frugal as he throdded along the empty, cold lonely forest with her body in his arms.

He arrived at the Packhouse and climbed upstairs, glad that the entire Alpha’s mansion was empty. Grudgingly, he went up to his room and Lay her on the bed, his eyes just as cold as his expression.

Nancy suddenly opened her eyes just as he had put on a short and was pulling the blanket up to her chin. He was startled for a second but she suddenly closed her eyes again and he drew back, noticing a tear that slid across her face down to her jaw.

The drop of tear dropped on the sheets, spreading like a blot of ink.

"...Please" Was all she said in a weak voice. It was shaky and small but he heard her loud and clear just before she finally fell unconscious completely.

He stooped down to her height on the bed and stared hard at her face, not willing to accept she was actually unconscious. Pulling up an arrn, he let it drop and her arm fell limply at her side.

He snorted. She had really fainted. Such a weakling. And she was his mate?

Not a chance.

Her words and pleas suddenly flooded his memory and he was left, deciding if the route he had chosen to take was right. Was Alpha Henry that cruel to his daughter? Would he really disown her and turn her to a rogue? But what about her position as female Alpha? It was such a huge position, considering that Alphas were generally male and it was quite rare to find a female one.

Come to think of it, did the Alpha really place his entire Packhouse and authority under Nancy?

He almost scoffed with a crude smirk on his face, The thought of someone like Nancy ruling a pack amusing him but his expression suddenly softened when his gaze landed on her face.

Clearly seeing her without being him irritated or angry, she looked.... really beautiful. Like an anime character right from a movie. Her bright features threw some light in his dark gloomy room and her lips...

For the first time in his life, Alpha Koan was drawn to a woman’s lips, not out of lust but curiosity. They looked like plump Cherry’s; ready to eaten and it was his...

Wait...

He could imagine his self consciousness smacking his forehead. Why did he suddenly think of that. Moon goddess help him, he was so ready to take advantage of her right now. Her scent was unbearably delicious and her beautiful curvaceous body underneath the blankets turned him crazy with desire.

’It’s the fucking mate bond. I can’t believe I’m going crazy over a dumb kid’

Chapter 55

"...Now, you may step forward." The Shaman announced, once Daniel was done with the oath. He nervously did and pulled out his wrist just like the Shaman ordered.

During the entire time, he would catch Naomi’s eyes in the crowd and when they locked eyes, she would pretend to look somewhere else.

He was literally shot in the stomach by Kitsunes and they had bodly told him they would kidnap Naomi and take her away; probably to hurt her. Barton had his eyes on her during the party and entire oath but he just wanted to make sure.

These creatures were sneaky and what was worse? They could morph into anyone and he wouldn’t have a clue.

Just as he brought forth his wrist, he didn’t recognize a bowl placed underneath it.

"Argh!" He winced, slightly bending his knees, his wince resounded In the entire party venue, startling Dora who wasn’t used to seeing Daniel in pain.

The Shaman stepped back with a strange looking saber, stained with dark red blood.

He badly wanted to swear. The goddess knew how much this hurt badly but the Shaman strictly ordered him to let every single drop of blood fall into the bowl.

People gasped and mummured in sympathy but it was the rites of the Alpha completing the blood oath.

Naomi felt a small pang of pain on her wrists just watching every drop of his blood fall into the bowl.

Brittany held her shoulders and she realized she was standing amongst the crowd with Talia and a familiar bouncy-haired blonde girl who had joined them to dance a moment ago. She was actually a fun person, jovial and wild but Naomi couldn’t help but feel a sense of familiarity with her.

Kiara...

"Are you okay?" Since she was the closest, she had felt Naomi stiffen once Daniel was slashed across the wrist with the saber.

"I...I’m fine." She stammered, feeling a bit nauseous seeing blood.

Talia chuckled and whispered.

"You’re freaking out over watching his own blood drip into the bowl. You’d probably faint when everyone in the pack have to get a taste of it and swear their loyalty to the new Alpha and his Pack."

"What?!" Naomi almost yelled and clasped her hand over her mouth in embarrassment when the two girls began giggling at her cute expression.

Kiara was the quiet one. She was still trying to process the turn out of situations.

The person she had taken clubbing the other day, mocked him and later on kissed him after telling him ’she was horny’ was the ALPHA??!

She felt blood rushing up to her face at having to face him again. Eventually, she had to. She was the principal’s daughter and would be responsible for showing the new student around which was obviously him of course.

"We have to go back to the table." Brittany tells Naomi and Kiara and they nod understandingly. They weren’t part of the pack so they had no rights to taste the Alpha’s blood.

However, Talia excused Naomi from Kiara for a moment and Brittany joined them.

"What’s wrong?" Naomi asked the two in panic, noticing the look of worry in Talia’s eyes.

"We’re just wondering...since you’re a..." Talia glanced about before whispering. "Kitsune. Brittany do you think she should perform the blood oath with him?"

"Well...she is his mate but..."

"What?!" Talia almost screamed with delight shining in her eyes, her brows raised so high it almost touched the tip of the hair falling over her forehead. "You’re mates?!"

Brittany held the bridge of her nose while Naomi turned red.

"You weren’t meant to hear that. No one was. J...just don’t tell anyone okay?"

"I won’t I promise..." But she was visibly giddy.

"You asked a really important question though..." She turns to Naomi. "If you do the blood oath with your mate, you’ve chosen to become inseparable..."

"Permanently?" Naomi asked, just to be sure and she gulped when Brittany nodded.

She suddenly turned to Talia.

"Can I have a word with Brittany. Please?"

Talia nods understandably and after flashing them a smile, she leaves and makes her way up to the high table where she completely ignored Jepthaph who had his eyes on her the entire time she climbed up the stairs and simply lowered herself on her seat.

"I talked to my...fox."

"S...seriously?!"

"I didn’t have much time but there are several questions I had to ask her but...I couldn’t."

"How...did you do it?"

"I literally travelled into my own mind...but I’m torn between two choices Brittany."

"What’s that..."

Naomi sighed and looked in the direction where Daniel’s wrist was still hovering above the bowl while everyone in the pack began forming a long line. They were so many that they made eight lines and still, it was as long as a caterpillar.

Daniel glanced up at the crowd hovering around, smiling warmly at him and he felt a sense of peace he never felt for several years since he last stayed at Moon Howler’s pack years ago.

This was his home.

Dark Risers’s pack.

Suddenly his eyes began spamming over the crowd. Where was Naomi?!

"Place your hands over the bowl. Every blood of yours is very precious, you know."

He reluctantly acknowledged the Shaman’s words but he felt uneasy.

"Calm down. If she’s not here. I’d know. Her fox’s scent is everywhere" Kelvin reassured him and he calmed down for a bit. The crowd was much so she was probably hidden by the tall jocks.

"If she does the blood oath, you two will become inseparable. You’d be able to know where she is and what she’s thinking just by telepathically communicating with her and you’ll obviously have to mark her for the blood oath to work since you two are mates."

Inseparable...

He stared at his own blood for a while.

Was that he wanted?

The thought of being mated to the enemy was something he wasn’t according to.

But then again...

He was already attached to her. Everytime he saw Naomi, he always felt a sense of familiarity with her and in a way, he didn’t want to let her go.

Yet, he didn’t want to be with her.

It was for the good of him, the pack and also her.

Naomi turned to Brittany and finally said.

"I don’t think he’d want to be mated to me. I’m better off not doing the blood oath Brittany."

Chapter 56

Brittany stared at Naomi with a flabbergasted look on her face.

"He rejected me," Naomi whispered with hurt in her eyes as she rubbed her shoulder with one hand. "I’d reject me if I were him so I don’t really blame him."

Brittany suddenly grabbed her shoulders and Naomi stiffened in her grasp.

"I don’t want you to ever say that again. If he can’t see your worth then he’s just as blind as any one else who sees you as nothing more than a mere...enemy...fox whatever!"

Tears formed at the edge of her eyes, threatening to spill down and ruin her eye-do as she whispered in a trembling voice.

"... I’m a Kitsune Brittany...my kind and your kind..."

"You are a Kitsune...Yes. But look at me Naomi, look at everyone here. Do you have the urge to hurt us? To burn us into ashes? Do you feel bloodlust just looking at our happy faces? For more than a decade you’ve lived amongst us, do you ever..."

Naomi quickly shook her head with a confused look in her eyes.

"Why would you even say that Brittany? I’ve loved Dark Risers’s pack and everyone in it as long as I can remember. I’ve taken the Packhouse as my own home. I can never think of something as mortifying as that."

"Then why do you think that you’re not good enough for Daniel!!!"

Naomi fell speechless at her words. She slowly looked down.

"You don’t understand. Do you think I’d spend the rest of my life with Daniel hiding my face under a mask like this? What do you think he’d do? How do you think he’d feel when he realize I’ve been lying to him his entire life. What if the pack isn’t willing to witness their Alpha getting mated to a wolfless Omega. What if they find out what I really am..." Brittany’s lips parted, ready to say something but Naomi continued. "I...can’t."

Just then, Nancy and Koan walked up to them. There was so much crowd around the Alpha that no one, not even Daniel paid attention to them just standing at the corner.

"Hey guys!" Brittany waved them over. "How come you two suddenly disappeared?"

"Oh," Nancy giggled in her cute voice, wrapping her arms around Koan intimately. "We were dancing and sort of got lost in the crowd."

Naomi and Brittany’s gazes landed on their entwined arms. They were expecting Koan to be rash and push her away but he was just standing there, looking like a stiff unmoving statue.

"Uh..." Brittany suddenly felt awkward with the silence. But not as awkward as Naomi felt since their gazes was fixed on her like she was a target. "So...How’s the party so far."

"It’s nice I guess but we decided to wander around and lost my pearl earrings back at the forest" Nancy sounded pitiful.

"You were wearing pearl earrings?" Naomi suddenly asked. She remembered vividly that Nancy didn’t wear earrings to the party.

"Yes. Naomi could you please help me and find them!" Nancy held onto her arms so suddenly that Naomi stiffened.

She felt something was not right with these two. She just had a similar gut feeling and it caused her stomach to swirl inside.

"Naomi has to do the blood oath. I’ll come and find your ..."

"No!" Koan suddenly yelled in a cold voice and Brittany paled, flinching under his glare.

He cleared his throat and calmly said with a small smile,

"That won’t be necessary. She should just come with us."

Brittany and Naomi exchanged glances before Naomi stepped back to scrutinize them.

Sure enough, the familiar dark whirlpool smoke was visualized in their bodies and she stared at them in shock.

"Kitsunes!" She gasped and Nancy suddenly stepped forward in a sneer.

"I guess we have to do this the other way round."

Before Naomi could even move a muscle, black powdered dust entered her eyes and just before Brittany could run back and call for help, the dust entered her eyes as well and the two girls dropped like sacks to the ground.

The two shape shifted into their normal form. Two girls with bright blue and red hair respectively and dark gold colored eyes.

They didn’t hesitate to grab the two girls before vanishing.

**

Everyone would line up before the Alpha, dip their finger into the bowl of blood, suck on it and swear their undying loyalty to the Alpha before stepping aside for the next person. People in a family could do it all at once.

It was going to take some time since there were so many people but Marcy was standing right behind Daniel along with the elders who had done their blood convernnant before anyone else did.

Marcy was strictly behind him incase he tried anything stupid like ditching everyone or suddenly vanishing as usual.

She was however very proud of him at the turn out of events.

"She’s gone."

Kelvin suddenly said and Daniel whispered back since most people’s attention was on the Shaman who conducted the blood oath.

"How’s that possible." He turned to Barton and their eyes met. It held the same look of confusion and panic as his.

He got up abruptly and began leaving the stage. Most people turned to him and Marcy, embarassed, ran forward to grab his arm.

"I will not tolerate such disrespect. You can’t just leave when the ceremony’s not over. It’s rude and the people will not find it acceptable."

"Aunt. I need to go. It’s urgent. You just have to trust me but I can’t spend a second here."

Marcy watched with lips as wide as saucers as her nephew and son got up and left the venue without glancing at the others.

They were already leaving when Talia noticed them walking away hurriedly and joined them.

"Hey Barton! Have you seen Brittany? Where are you guys going?"

Daniel didn’t reply but Barton did,

"I thought she was with you?"

"The last time we talked, Naomi asked to be alone with her."

Daniel spoke up this time.

"If Naomi’s missing, then Brittany’s missing as well..."

Talia gasped for air as she ran forward to keep up with their long strides.

"Naomi’s missing?!"

"Talia, we can’t entertain any more questions, okay?" Daniel told her off but she wasn’t staying back.

"Fine, but I’m going with you guys. I suggest you try using her scent since you’re mates." She suddenly clamped her hand over her mouth when two hot piercing gazes landed on her.

"Sorry," she told a petrified Baryon and a horrified Daniel. "Brittany told me but I swear it’s just me!"

Daniel just sighed,

"Great! Just great!"

"She’s right though."

"I can’t even get a wift of her scent. I don’t even know where to start."

"Would have been easier if you’d just mark her."

"Shut it Barton!"

They got into the vehicle and Barton turned on the ignition when Talia asked,

"Aren’t you guys being pessimistic about her disappearance. They could have gone home."

"Since you know too much, you should know this. There were kitsunes in our midst and they were here for Naomi..."

"What?!"

"I don’t have a f**king clue where to start looking."

"Well since that’s that, we can just head to the exact place we encountered a Kitsune for the first time."

Daniel turned to Talia and finally grinned.

"You’re a f**king genuis, do you know that?"

Talia just rolled her eyes as she leaned back into the car seat when Barton drove off at full speed but she felt a bit pleased.

Chapter 57

Brittany groaned slightly as her eyes slowly opened. It felt like her head was being hit with something hard and the splitting headache caused her senses to infiltrate through her ears and spill onto the ground.

All she saw was darkness but as her blurred vision got clearer, she noticed some spot of light.

"She’s awake! She’s awake." She heard someone say in an anxious but excited voice.

"HUH?" She held onto her head. "Barton? Is that you?"

Soon, she felt arms wound around her body and she was pulled into someone’s arms.

"Take her back to the vehicle. Barton and I will search the area. Naomi might be close. You’ll stay with Brittany and make sure she’s okay."

"Sure. Just...be careful."

As the two boys make their way into the deeper part of the woods, Talia effortless carried Brittany into the car.

Once she settled her body down and was sure she was comfortably placed on the chair, Brittany was already well aware of her surroundings at once.

"W...What’s happening. I thought I heard Daniel and Barton?"

"You don’t remember anything?"

"Huh?"

"We found you lying in the middle of nowhere...like you were knocked out or something."

"What?"

The more Talia talked, the more she got confused.

"Wait...Where’s Naomi?"

"I thought you’d know. She was with you the last time I checked."

"Yes but..." Brittany held her head to calm the storm inside. "We were at the party when..."

Suddenly her eyes widened and she dashed out of the car, running like she was being chased by something.

"Wait! Brittany!" Talia ran after her and effortless caught up with her, ran past her and barred her way.

"Talia, Naomi’s in trouble."

"You don’t say..." She replied sacarstically

"What’s wrong with you. Step out of my way"

"To do what Brittany? Do you have any idea where she could be? You’re weak and shaking on your two legs. If you find the Kitsunes who took her, you’re useless fighting them in your condition."

"You knew about the Kitsunes coming for her?"

"Brittany," Talia sighed. "Get back into the car, okay? Barton and Daniel’s got this."

**

Bushes and dried up leaves rustled under their shoes as they ventured forward, using their sharp claws to tear outstretched branches and tall grasses from their path.

Suddenly, just as they were getting close to the familiar cliff, the scent of chocolate liqueur and citrus flooded his nostrils and they flared open and the scent wafted in, nourishing his entire system like a year’s worth of refreshments.

Barton turned when he realized Daniel had stopped feets away.

"What’s wrong?"

A thick smell of fresh blood covered the entire atmosphere at once and Daniel’s eyes twitched A bit as he said,

"Follow me."

Barton could smell the blood and he didn’t hesitate to follow Daniel.

Naomi fell hard on the ground and cried in pain as she rolled down the hill of dirt, falling into a hole.

Lightning struck the sky and soon, the trail of lightening followed her into the hole and that was all it took for the frightened woman to leap back on her feet and run deeper into the hole.

It looked like an underground cave. She didn’t know how long she ran but she was able to find a fork-route and followed the left route while the trail of lightening went right.

Daniel and Barton stopped just above the hill leading down to the cliff.

"I followed her scent all the way here." Daniel stammered in disbelief.

"I can feel the prescence of her fox. She’s around here... somewhere." Kelvin said.

"I can’t see her OR the Kitsunes."

"Maybe we should climb down the hill. We’ll see better down there." Barton said.

"It’s too steep. You think she’d fall from this high?"

"Daniel move!!!" Barton suddenly yelled and Daniel dropped to the ground along with his cousin, dodging a large fireball that knocked out a tree, burning out everything on it.

The two boys rolled expertly and found themselves on their feet and face to face with one of the Kitsunes.

This one had red hair and dark gold colored eyes and a sinister smile on her gorgeous face. Her long gown huggged her curvy body and had a slit at the sides, showing off her skin blmeish free thighs and smooth legs and there a curvy round cut made at her chest showing off her voluptuous cleavage.

She had uncountable tails floating behind her and her hands were in the air, dark magic in form of black flames surrounding her fisted palms.

"If you’re looking for your friend, I think you’d have to wait a bit. As you can see, she’s currently in that hole there and my sister is helping her out."

"So stupid of you to literally tell us her location." Barton amusingly said, his brows raised.

"Oh that’s not stupidity. Stupidity is when you two actually try to go into that hole to save her." She smirked and floated higher, swishing her hand in the air, showing them the hot flames surrounding it.

"Watch me." Without warning, Daniel leaped into the air, Morphing into his glorious wolf. He landed down from the hill, some feet before the hole and just before he made to jump in, a slick animal leaped on him and he was sent flying backwards towards a tree.

He growled in pain and anger and got onto his feet, ready to attack but froze on seeing that she had transformed into her fox. She looked slicker and smaller but the way she had pushed him earlier was evident that his huger size didn’t matter.

He leaped at her, pouncing on her small frame and trapping her with her back to the ground.

He swooped in for a huge bite but she suddenly vanished from underneath him, reappearing behind him. Before he turned backwards, she swished her tails enchantingly, towards him, and he flew backwards, crashing into another tree which made a loud eerie noise before falling back to nestle on another tree which leaned back to fall on another before the last one dropped at the top of the hill, making a bridge for Barton who flew down the tree at maximum speed and leaped into the air, flying towards the fox who was floating in the air, like a spear, and the two of them crashed to the ground rolling against each other.

Having the upper hand because Trixie (The Kitsune) wasn’t prepared for the sudden attack, he grabbed some of her tails and whirled her around, grunting in anger as he released her body which went flying to the ground, dust rising in the air at the effort of her fall.

Panting hard, he ran forward to check on his cousin, sure that Trixie would be out for a few seconds to save some time to go into the hole but just before the dust in the air cleared up, something hard penetrated his chest and he froze.

"Barton!!!" Daniel growled in his inner mind as he began running to the two, his claws elongating and leaving deep marks in the dirt from where he had pounced on.

Trixie pulled out her claw from his chest, dripping of blood. She stepped back in satisfaction, her wide fox lips smiling as Barton dropped onto his knees, stooping low to hold his chest with one hand and the other was placed on the ground to support his weight.

Suddenly, she pulled up her claws again and the length of her claws were visible. It was longer and sharper and the pointy edge of the blades glowed like a glint under the moonlight as she positioned the claw, ready to slash it, reliving him of his head.

Chapter 58

Naomi for the third time, reached a dead end. But before she could turn and find another way, she squealed and fell back against the dirt wall on seeing the trail of lightening coming at her in a flash.

She crossed her arms over her head and whispered In a trembling voice.

"P...Please don’t hurt me. P...please..." The dirt on the ground suddenly turned moist with her tears and for a while there was just silence.

It was only the panting of the woman and the silent crackle of the lightning.

Cautiously, Naomi turned to see the lightening morph into the familiar blue haired Kitsune she encountered before.

She was in her human form, in the same attire as her sister and her dark gold eyes raked over her body with an evil glint flashing in them.

"I don’t want to hurt you." She softly said but before Naomi could say a word, she cut in. "But if you’re unwilling to follow us, I might as well, take you to our territory by force."

"Why?"

The girl chuckled with a sneer.

"Did it take you that long to figure out who you really are after our last encounter. Are you so dumb or you think the werewolves will accept you when they find out who you are?"

"I can’t deny who I am. But I can decide the people I want to be with."

"You do know it’s an order given to us, to bring you home."

"This Pack IS my home."

"Really?" She sounded amused. "Then why don’t you announce to everyone your real identity. I bet you won’t last a second without digging your own grave."

"Y...You don’t know that." Naomi stammered, unsure.

"I’ve lived for several decades. I know werewolves like the back of my hand. We’ve been at loggerhead some years back and they won’t hesitate to shred you into pieces."

"Even though I’ve lived with them all these years like one of them? I don’t believe you."

"I really don’t care, Fiona. You’re wasting my time. I’m going to give you a choice and if you’re unwilling, I’ll just take you away by force."

"My name is Naomi and I’m not just going to leave my home after so many years just to be with you because you’re my kind. You people are evil and I’m not."

"Heh!" She chucked so coldly that Naomi thought she was going to act out on her plan of dragging her away. "Says the person who has the blood of a pure-breed Kitsune in their veins."

"Why do you guys want me? I’m just an ordinary Kitsune if that is that? So why are you guys so interested in me."

"You’re special, Fiona. Believe me, if you were an ordinary Kitsune, we wouldn’t waste two decades looking for you."

"I need to know why I’m being taken away in the first place."

"We’re not going to hurt you. We’ve been given orders by your father to bring you and that’s what I’m doing."

It felt like her entire world froze and broke like shards of glass at her feet.

Her lips opened and closed without words, yet, she found the voice to ask,

"I...have a father?"

**

Just as Trixie moved her wrist to kill him, Daniel pounced on her, pushing her into the hole where she screamed in a loud growl as she dropped heavily, shaking the surface.

"Bart." Daniel cried in his inner mind as he ran towards him.

Barton groaned as he held onto Daniel’s furry body, trying to rise up with shaky legs, the wound on his chest slowly healing.

Daniel’s wolf whimpered and he rubbed his snout against Barton’s painfully squeezed face.

"I’m alright...but...Naomi." He struggles to say, wincing, still holding his chest.

**

"If you follow me, you can meet him and you can meet other people. Your kind. You’ll be treated the way you deserved. You’ll get the answer to all your questions."

She smirked when she saw that her words were finally having an effect on Naomi. She had a look of uncertainty and doubt but there was a hint of longing flashing in her eyes.

"You usually have these weird dreams at night, don’t you?" Tina(Kitsune) said with an inquiring look in her eyes and Naomi snapped.

"Yes! I...I’ve been trying to figure out their meanings for so many years! H...How did you know?"

"Fiona, if you follow me, we’ll explain everything to you. You’ll never feel lonely anymore. You’ll never feel left out. You’ll have all the answers you want. You’ll be trained to draw manna from the air and use magic. You’ll become powerful? Isn’t that what you want?"

Naomi wanted answers to her questions. She didn’t want power or the ability to use magic. She just wanted to meet her ’father’ and ask all the questions she’s been meaning to ask for some many years

But ...she was sure if she left with them, she won’t be able to come back.

**

Trixie growled as she dropped into the hole. She morphed back to her normal form and her beautiful round eyes twitched with anger.

She flew up from the hole, into the air and saw the two making their way to the hole. Without hesitation, she fisted her hands at her sides and swished her tail towards them, releasing a long trail of hot flames.

Barton leaped left and Daniel leaped right and the two grunted as they hit the hard ground.

Trixie went after Daniel and he growled and slashed his claws at her.

"Argh!" She flew back into the air and touched her face. Half of it was being disfugured by his scars.

Gritting her teeth, seething in anger, she growled at Daniel who was on his feet ready to attack her while Barton was standing behind her, ready to defend his cousin.

She glanced over her shoulders at Barton and glanced back at Daniel.

"Okay." She clasped her hand together, in a prayer stance and closed her eyes. "I’m done playing around with you fools. It’s time to die!"

"Stop!"

Everyone turned to see Naomi meekly walking side by side with Tina who had a smug look on her face.

"Naomi!" Barton looked relived but his eyes widened like Daniel’s when Naomi suddenly said,

"There’s no need for you to hurt them. I’ll go with you. Just..." her lips trembled when she and Daniel’s eyes met. "Don’t hurt them anymore."

Chapter 59

A sharp cracking sound was heard as Daniel morphed back into his naked human form.

Gasping, she turned away, backing everyone. Her cheek was flushed and her eyes was wide with horror when he had begun shifting

Barton casually walked next to his cousin and threw his jacket over Daniel, his eyes grazing over the previous hot searing wound on his stomach which had healed.

Daniel grabbed the jacket and wrapped it around his waist. He sighed when Naomi wouldn’t turn to him even after reassuring her that he wasn’t completely naked.

"Is that what you want?"

Naomi closed her eyes at his questions, blinking back her tears.

Trixie reluctantly levated down, standing next to Tina with a disatisfied frown on her face.

"For the sake of the Pack and for everyone’s safety. I’m willing to." She meekly answered, not wanting to look at him. It wasn’t the fact that he wasn’t properly dressed. She knew if she looked into his eyes at that moment, she would forget anything else but wanting to go back home with him.

"That’s just bullshit Naomi!" Daniel snapped at her and she trembled slightly at his voice, almost flinching.

Barton held him back just as his hot-tempered cousin was making a move towards the Kitsunes who had calm but deadly expressions on their gorgeous faces.

When his hard grip had subdued Daniel a bit, he turned to Naomi.

"If it’s about us, I don’t think you need to sacrifice several years of your life here just to go somewhere else where you might get killed." Barton said.

Trixie who was evidently the hot-tempered one amongst the two sisters stepped forward and flung her hand to the side without any effort and a whirlpool of breeze rose from the ground, pulling Barton up and flinging him to a tree.

A loud thud echoed in the forest and black ravens screeched as they flew from the top of the tree where he hit.

"You can’t just assume we’d kill her. She’s our kind. You should be more worried about yourself than her." She disdainfully said, not an iota of remorse in her eyes when Barton slided down the tree, evidently in pain.

"Please stop. I promised to go with you so don’t hurt them!" Naomi fumed with anger just watching Barton stagger to his Feet.

"Then what are we waiting for?" Tina smugly asked and held Naomi’s hand. Trixie, grumbling for not having to kill anyone, held Naomi’s other hand and they began levatating off the ground, up to the sky.

Naomi gasped slightly. It was the first time levatating off the ground like this so her heart dropped to her stomach when her two feet left the ground and her hand tightened against theirs.

"Our mate’s getting away from us! Just like that?! Do something Daniel!" Kelvin howled In agony and pain In his head and Daniel fell to his knees, groaning in pain with his hands holding onto his head like it was a ticking bomb about to go off as he tried to subdue Kelvin.

A loud groan echoed in the entire forest as Daniel bent to the ground, his lips almost grazing the ground as he tried to steady his head.

"Naomi, I’m sorry but if you don’t reject him, he won’t last a day without you around the pack. You have to break the mate bond between you two or you can never go to your home." Louis, her fox said and Naomi who was floating on the air with the Kitsunes who weren’t In the least bothered about Daniel’s pain kept flying forward.

Naomi couldn’t take her eyes off Daniel who looked like he was in so much pain and the guilt of leaving him shattered her heart in so many pieces. But these Kitsunes could kill them with just a wave of their hand. She couldn’t upset them by suddenly changing her mind.

’Why do you want me to reject him? Wouldn’t it hurt him more?’

’Naomi you don’t look like you have a choice. Leave the pack without rejecting him and he dies or stay back and let everyone in the pack face the wrath of these two.’

Brittany and Talia had heard the screams which had been accompanied by several loud thuds and booms...

"Do you hear that?" Brittany asked. She had refused to lay still in the car like Talia wanted and had been pacing up and down while Talia sat on the grass, her legs crossed, hands behind her to support her weight.

Talia raised her head and heard the next loud ’thud!’ when Barton was slammed against the tree and she hurriedly got up.

"I’ll check it out. You? Stay here." She ordered Brittany.

"I. AM. COMING. WITH. YOU." Brittany stubbornly said and Talia sighed when she realized trying to convince her to stay back was like pouring a bowl of hot water into an ocean to warm it up.

With that, they rushed towards them with the thick scent of blood in the air to find Barton trying to figure out Daniel’s comprising situation. His hands were placed around his head like there was a throbbing headache threatening to cause his head to explode.

"Daniel!" The two girls yelled in union and jumped down the hill effortlessly, landing on their hands and legs before running to the pair.

Talia looked up and noticed Naomi at first. Her eyes widened in disbelief.

**

Naomi suddenly held back her hands and the two women glanced back.

"I want to go back." She asked, with a trembling voice.

"You’re too softhearted! It’s probably all a trick to get you back!" Trixie snapped at her.

"NO. it’s not. I can FEEL his pain. He’s in pain," She gave them a pleading gaze. "My mate’s in pain. Please."

Trixie and Tina exchanged looks while Naomi stared at them, feeling the chilly air surrounding the two as they communicated Telepathically.

They suddenly looked back at Daniel with cold eyes and turned back reluctantly. Naomi bit her lip in slight relief, thinking they were going to kill Daniel with how they stared at him with so much bloodlust reeking in their eyes.

Chapter 60

Once her feet touched the ground, she rushed towards Daniel. The others moved aside and watched in fear and anxiety as Naomi fell to her knees and threw her arms around Daniel, cradling his head close to her chest.

The Kitsunes stood far off, standing side by side like the warriors they were, anticipating what would happen next with a nonchalant look on their faces.

Talia, Brittany and Barton were conscious of the dangerous creatures’ prescence but they were more worried about Daniel to care what would happen anytime after Naomi helped him.

"Daniel." She whispered into his ear like the after-math of a mother trying to sooth her child from a horrible nightmare.

Her lips and nose were buried in his hair, his black locks glistening with her tears as she silently wept when she felt the pain he was experiencing.

A sigh escaped his lips when he felt her embrace, her refreshing scent flooding his nostrils just as his did to her, igniting all the cells and organs in her body.

Kelvin had stopped howling but he was silent now which was unlike him. Daniel blinked when he realize Naomi was holding him in her arms. Without a thought, he moved back and pushed her and Naomi gasped as she fell to the ground on her bottom.

She could feel dark energy surrounding the area just as Daniel stood up but she raised an hand, stopping the Kitsunes from making any further moves. She didn’t realize just how much her raises arms affected the Kitsunes. They were forced to obey her at once.

"I didn’t need your comfort..." He stooped low to her height on the ground and when their eyes locked, he painfully shut his on feeling all the emotions swirling in her eyes in his heart. "I..." He was finding it hard to speak. This was difficult but he couldn’t stop himself. He was hurt that she was leaving without a second thought and he was angry that he was sad she was leaving. Why should he be feeling this way? She was going to the enemies’s territory which happened to be her home, right?

"I... don’t want you close to me. You might as well leave now," He ignored the pain and hurt in her eyes. "Aside Marcy, I don’t think you’re worth anyone missing you in the Pack."

Naomi gritted her teeth in anger.

She saw in him pain and turned back like a fool to help him. She wanted to go along with the rejection like Louis had suggested but when she had hugged him, enclosing him in her embrace, the resolve she had built in her mind to reject him had crumbled to the ground.

But now... he did not only appreciate anything she did for him, he once again made her feel like a lowly person.

"I hope you’re happy in your new home." He suddenly said, causing her to snap back to reality where she sat on the floor staring into space.

Before she could utter a word, he turned away from her , shifting into his wolf, Barton’s jacket ripping into shreds as he dashed off.

"You’re... leaving the pack?"

Naomi turned to see who had spoken and her heart pounded, almost threatening to burst when she saw the hurt look in Brittany’s eyes.

She didn’t reply and just looked down.

Tears rolled down her eyes when Brittany turned away, running with tears stinging her eyes while Barton ean after her.

"So much drama." Trixie groaned in irritation using telepathy to communicate with her sister.

"I’m sick of it!" Tina added in agreement.

"Brittany? Wait!"

They could hear Barton’s voice afar as he ran after his twin sister.

The air felt very chilly as Talia only remained, staring at Naomi with a blank look.

She finally talked.

"We barely know each other and I probably won’t understand how you’re feeling right now about this, but..." Talia bent down to her height and Naomi looked up at her with tears welling up in her eyes. "you’ve lived in Dark Risers’s pack your entire life. I won’t tell you what to do or who to listen to about moving or not but do not regret your decision later on."

After patting her back, she turned away and left and the god of silence descended after she disappeared, leaving the Kitsunes standing behind her.

"Give me one week to say my goodbyes."

Naomi whispered, her hand fisting, grabbing a handful of grass on the ground as her eyes focused on something unseen on the ground.

"We understand how hard this is going to be for you especially when your mate is a Werewolf but believe me when I say you are not supposed to be here. You have a greater future in Foxuse."

Foxuse was the name of the village where the Kitsunes lived.

Naomi turned to them.

"If you really UNDERSTAND then you’d realize that there are some people who I’ve come to get used to and love as a family. I can’t just leave like that."

"What will you tell them as your reason for leaving? Will you reveal to them the truth?"

"No, but I’ll make it known that they won’t have to need me in their lives anymore."

"And your mate?" Trixie carefully asked and Naomi glanced back to the ground again before speaking in a slow but audible voice.

"I will reject him."

Trixie exchanged glances with Tina and Naomi turned to see them in that similar posture again of looking at each other. They were probably communicating telepathically.

"What do we tell his highness when we return without her." Trixie asked.

"We tell him the truth. He’s waited for decades. One week is nothing worth waiting for her to say her final goodbyes."

"What if she refuses to come with us? What if those little teenagers keep her away."

Tina scoffed with a smirk.

"It will take only a day for an army of Kitsunes to rain down fire and burn the entire existence of werewolves. They should know that."
