Chapter 21

Chapter 21 Selena pov

When Friday finally came I had to rush from work and head straight home.I got delayed in a phone call with a customer and when I finally was done I had to hurry.

Coming back to the pack house I'm met by Emma.

"Hey what's the rush?"

She shouts out after me when I run up the stairs.

Taking two steps at a time.

"I'm running late and I have to get ready now If I am going to make it there in time." I answer and get inside my room.

"I will help you," she says and rushes after me up the stairs.

I take a shower, while she is going through my shoes to find someone that goes well with the dress.

Getting out of the bathroom I put on my underwear and a bathrobe, I need to do the hair and makeup before I put on the dress.

When I am done and dressed I take a look in the mirror.

" you look amazing,"

Emma says and I can only agree.

Elijah has a really good taste.

The dress is a long evening gown and it shows of my curves just in the right places.I have quite large breasts and an hourglass figure.

This dress shows of just enough without being too much.I put on a scarf over my shoulders and feel ready to go.

"the dress is just perfect.Thanks for your help!" I say and start walking to the door.

"I will drive you there," Emma says and follows behind.

"Okay "

We head down and go over to the car.We talk about the hospital all the way in the car and I am glad for the distraction.

When we arrive outside the building for the event, Elijah is waiting outside in a black suit.He looks so gorgeous I can’t take my eyes off him.

“This is going to be hard," I say and she looks over to where I am looking.

"Well I have to say he is handsome.Just keep your hands and lips to your self and it will all be fine" she says and chuckles.

"But if you feel like crossing a bridge or two with him I'm on your side.I will be cheering for you"

I just shake my head at her words.

"You know nothing will ever happen with him,"I tell her and open the door to get outside.

"If you say so!" She says and blows me a kiss in the air while I walk outside.

Closing the door I head over to where Elijah stands when he sees me his eyes lit up and that sexy smile makes me weak in my knees.

"you look amazing," he says and offers his arm to me.

"you to Elijah " I answer and take his arm.

Feeling his body heat close to mine makes my cheek heats up.

When we walk into the room everything is beautifully decorated.

Our colleagues stand in the crowd and we walk over to them.

After dinner, the band starts to play and people get on the dancefloor.

I have been successfully avoiding being in any photo my bosses wanted me to be in.I start to relax a bit and the evening is nice, I have always avoided being photographed.

Don't want to leave any trace after me.

"Can I have this dance?"

Elijah comes over and asks me.I try to avoid the dance, don’t want our bodies to be that close.

"I won’t take no for an answer," he says and drags me out on the dance floor.

And I can't get myself out of this one.

"I am not a good dancer," I tell him, hoping he would let me pass.

“ You don't have to be, just follow me and I will take the lead" his voice comes to my ear and a shiver runs down my body.

He takes me in his arms and we start to sway to the music.

I had no idea he was such a good dancer and I start to relax in his arms.

Letting him take the lead and just enjoy this moment.

When the dance is done he doesn't let go and the next dance he pulls my body closer to his.I rest my head on his shoulder and let me just be here at this moment.I feel his hand on my back pulling me tighter to him and I'm getting weak in my knees.I haven't been this close to another man before and it stirs up feelings in my body I never felt before.

The evening comes to an end and Elijah walks with me outside, we talk about everything and nothing.

That has always been a good thing with him, our conversations always flow.

I follow him to his car at the furthest end of the parking lot and we talk for a moment more.

"Well, it's time for me to go home! Thank you for everything tonight, and the dress.See you on Monday!"

I say and turn around to walk away when I feel him grab my arm and swirl me around.

His hands come to my head and before I even register what's happening his plumpy lips are on mine in a heated kiss.

My mind goes blank and I follow his motions.

Get completely lost in my first kiss ever.

He pushes his tongue inside my mouth and tastes every inch of me while his other hand comes down to my waist and pulls me flat against him.I don't know where I am anymore when a car honks and jolts me out of my trance.

Breaking the kiss I turn around and see it's Emma and Jessie in the car.

I quickly leave Elijah and walk over to the car and get inside.

"Well that's one heck of a way to let your mate know you are very much alive and cheating on the mate bond," Emma says and I feel how all blood leaves my head

Chapter 22

Chapter 22 Kian pov

We have been searching for her day and night these last four days but there is no trace of her.

This has been my priority and everyone I could spare to look after her I ordered.

We have looked through every part of the river and down streams for miles.

But nothing! Her brother is heartbroken and at one point I had to use my alpha command over him to make him calm down.I am sitting in my office and drinking whiskey.

There is a knock on my door and Declan and Cannon walk in, they take a seat and I offer them some whiskey.

They both pour them a glass.

We sit there in silence for a while, lost in our thoughts.

"you haven’t felt anything? Did she just vanish up in the thin air?" Declan ask me.

"No not a thing"

"Does it mean she could be dead without you knowing it"

Cannon question what we are thinking.

Has the bond been so damaged from all these years apart that I wouldn’t feel it if she died? I just shrug my shoulders, don’t know the answer to that question.

Taking another sip of my whiskey I decide it’s time to call off the search.

"Call of the search Declan .We have looked everywhere and it's late in the evening now"

"But what if she is out there somewhere," Cannon says and I shrug my shoulders.

"Did you get any answers from the rogues that got caught?" I ask him and look down at my papers "They only said it's almost our time before they died.Nothing else, it didn’t matter what we did to them.That was all we got out of them."

Declan says And I sigh.We have to realize the possibility she is dead.I have lost her forever.I regret taking her away from her family and causing her this pain, if I could take it backI would.

Drowning the last whiskey in my glass I get up.

My wolf and I need to go for a run.where are you going?"

Cannons ask "I need to go for arun,"

I say and walk out of my office.

"we will come with you," Declan says.

I hear them both get to their feet.

"I have to say she was a hell of a good fighter, taking them all out," Cannon says and I feel pain ripple through me just the image of our little mate fighting the rogues of.

She was amazing! And then she chooses to fall down the cliff instead of being caught.I am stunned by how brave she was! I never wanted this, and I know it is all my fault and I can’t take it back.

"and not to mention how fucking gorgeous she was," Declan say and a growl slips out my throat and my wolf takes over and we shift just outside the doors.

Can't listen to what they say about her anymore! We just saw her again and then lost her at the same time.

Running away I don’t care if anyone follows or we are alone.

Just need to run.It takes a good while before I calm down a bit and start walking.

"fuck you run fast" I hear Declan in the mindlink.

I find us standing by the river looking over it.

Declan and Cannon come walking up to me in shorts and hand me a pair, I shift back and put them on.

Sitting down on the riverbank and they take a seat beside me.

"What do you think ? Believe she is gone for good?" Declan says "I don’t know, I have never felt anything from her in all these years "

I never thought I would care what she did since I only thought of my mate who died.

But when I saw her and understood how wrong I have been, I felt a connection to her I have never felt even with my first mate.And now it’s too late, I have no one else to blame but myself.

"Are you sure we should stop the search in the river?" Cannon asks

"I don't think she is there and if she is it means she is dead and will probably wash up somewhere " My wolf whimpered at the thought she would be dead.

“We have been searching everywhere and there is no trace of her "

“But she is a white wolf and they are special, I have always read of those in the books saying they have been blessed with different gifts.What if she could turn herself into a fish and swim down the river or something I don’t know" Declan says

"That would be great if she could but I don't think a fish is such a good ability," Cannon says and chuckle.

"Well I don’t know, do you have any better idea?" Declan says and we all sit in silence for a while.

“It would be great if she had any gift that could save her and she would still be alive.But I have never heard of that kind of gift"

I honestly answer, don’t remember that much of the white wolves we have read about.

We get up, it’s time to go back.

Taking off my shorts and shift to my big black wolf.

Picking up the shorts in our mouths and start running back, it takes a while before I se the castle again.

That's when I suddenly feel pain in my stomach my wolf shifts back to me in the middle of the air and he let out a whimper.

The pain almost knocks the air out of my lungs and it stays fora moment.I stand there rotten to my place.

Declan and Cannon shift back and look at me.

"what the hell happened?"

Declan asks I am silent for a while, waiting for the pain to come back but It doesn’t.But I know what I felt, there is no doubt.she is alive," I say out loud.

"What?"

"I felt it, pain in my stomach.It was her! She is alive.I know it"

At the first moment I am glad to find out she is alive, but then it hits me.My mate is with someone else!

Chapter 23

Chapter 23 Kian pov

"fucking find her!" I roar to my men when I walk in the door to the castle.

The rage I feel knowing she is with another man is about to spill over.

“ Kian calm down, the pain you felt was so short it can only mean whatever it was over in a second.At tops it would mean a kiss nothing more"

Declan tries to calm me down but it has the opposite effect.

"She is fucking touching another man! When I find that fucker I will rip his throat out"

I roar at them and punch the wall.

My hand leaves a hole in the wall.

"To be fair you did this on your own"

Cannon has the balls to tell me this now.I could punch him in the face for what he just said.

"Don't you think I fucking know that? But she is my mate and I am the only one who can touch her"

“How about we find her first and then you can try and get her to want you! I wish you luck with that!" Declan says and rolls his eyes.

“Even if it means I have to lock her up in my room I will do it" I growl out.I know it's my fault when I chased her out of my kingdom but it doesn't mean she can touch another man.

“How come you suddenly want her after all these years? " Declan wonder

"I don't know, when I saw her I was drawn to her.More than anything I have ever felt! I need her with me.I know I made a mistake all those years back"

I feel defeated and sit down in my office chair, resting my head in my hands.I know this isn’t going to be easy but I need to find her and when I do I will never let her go again.I will not make the same mistake twice!

“We need to think rationally right now, how far can she have gotten in four days?" Declan says

“And she didn’t smell like a rogue, she hardly had any scent.Isn’t that a little weird?" Cannon asks, "What are we missing?"

I say out loud "she hadn’t any scent from the closest packs but how far away can she come from?"

Cannon is right, I had a hard time picking up her scent and Cannon is my top warrior with the best smell and tracking experience I have ever met.

"Could her gift be that she can mask her scent?" Declan says

"that would explain a lot if it is true!"

Cannon says and I agree, that would explain some of it.

"the reports of seeing a white wolf are from all over the country, where is she hiding? there have been no reports from any pack about a wolf trespassing or anything unusual.The Alpha who is hiding her can’t be close to our pack or he would have told us" I say and drag my hand through my hair.

"You are right, so where do we begin the search?" Cannon asks

“We have to look into the packs from here and five days away at least, and we have to find out more about white wolves and what gifts they can have.get her family in here I need to talk to them"I order out

"I get on with the family right away," Declan says and walks out of the office.

"I will start the search in the packs"

Cannon gets up and walk out the door.I decided to go to the library, there has to be some information I can find over there.

White wolves are rare but there would be something.

After a couple of hours and not much information, I toss the last book I was reading on the floor.

Declan walks in and takes a seat in a chair.

"Have you found anything?" He asks

“ There isn’t a lot to find, one white wolf from over two hundred years ago could heal, and one I read about could se a bit of the future.But that is pretty much what I have found so far"

"Maybe you should ask your father?" he says

"and tell him what? That my second chance mate is a white wolf and it's all my fault she is gone? I don’t think it's a good idea to tell him yet! After we find out where she is" I will inform him

"Alright! Her parents will be here first thing in the morning.Why don’t you try and get some rest and we will pick this up in the morning?"

“I will stay a little longer you can head to bed"

Declan nods and walks out of the library, there is no way I could get any sleep tonight.I have a lot of books to go through, and I will search the Internet.

There has to be some information somewhere and I will find it.I go through every book I can in the library but don’t find anything more useful.

Heading over to the office I search the internet but come up empty-handed.

My eyes are dry and I look at the clock and see it is almost morning.I decide to go and have a shower and change my clothes before everyone wakes up.

Walking up to my room I wonder about everything.

How could she survive the fall and how did she get away? My best tracker have been running along the river for four days but there was no trace or scent.

If she can mark her scent it would explain some part, but there was no trace of her on land.I don’t think she would be swimming for four whole days without getting out of the water.I take a quick shower and get dressed, I can’t tell her parents I am her mate and what I have done to her.I need to keep it a secret for now.

Just hoping they will have some answers.

Chapter 24 Kian pov

When I walk down the stairs to the kitchen I meet Cannon "Didn't you sleep at all?"

He asks me

“No there was so much I needed to go through in the library"

"did you find anything ?" he asks

“Nothing useful, instead I got more questions."

"I have thought about it two and it doesn’t add up at all, we would have found something when we searched the river.But no trace at all it’s weird" he just states what has on my mind

"I am hoping her parents have some answers, they will be here in a little while."

We walk into the kitchen and the chef has already made some breakfast.I am not hungry but take a coffee and a sandwich.

Sitting down at the table with cannon when Declan walks in.

"Her parents will be here shortly, what are you going to tell them?"He says

"I just need to know if they have any idea how come she is a white wolf and where she can be! Is it true that she has been keeping away from her family during all these years"

We eat up and I pour another coffee and walk over to my office, Cannon is with me and Declan walks out to meet her parents and show them into my office.We sit down and soon Declan and her family walk into my office.

I greet her parents and her brother and when all is sitting down I ask them “you know we have caught your daughter with some rogues and had her here in the prison for a few days before she escaped.I have some questions.Did you know she is a white wolf?"

I don't tell them anything more than that.

"She disappeared before her shift we have never seen her wolf" her dad answered and I hear the pain of losing his daughter in his voice.

I feel sorry for what I have done to them.

“do you have any idea where the white wolf comes from, have any of your relatives been white?"

"No none of us have any idea, when Jaden came home and told us what happened we were shocked.We haven’t seen or heard anything from her in the years since she disappeared! I am sorry my King but we have no answers"Her dad says

"How did you know it was your sister?" I ask Jaden

"My wolf recognized she was family and I knew it was her.Have you found any trace of her?"

Everyone in her family looks at me with hope in her eyes.I can’t brake their hearts again, I did this to them.

"We believe she is alive somewhere"

Her mother brakes down and cries right in front of me.I can only hate myself for costing them their heartbreak.I took their child and sister away from them.

"Why would she do this? Disappeared and never tell us.Something must have happened! Our daughter would never do this." her mother says between sobs.

I know why and can't tell them.

"If we find out more we will let you know," I say to them and end the meeting.

They stand up and her father reaches out his hand for me, I take it.

"Thank you, my King! Let me know if there is anything I can do.We want to find her and bring her home no matter what!" He says and I nod to him.

They walk out of the office with Cannon and I am alone with Declan.

"That gave us nothing besides a headache, knowing all this is because of you," he says and I have nothing to say to that.

He is right.

Getting up from my chair and headed over to my bar and pour myself a whiskey.

"Don’t you think it’s a little too early for that?" he says.

"No! and I need one"

"Then give me one too," he says and I pour another glass and hand him that.

Sitting down I think of what to do next.

Cannon walks in and take a seat.

"since when did we start drinking before lunch?" He says

"Since today" Declan answer and Cannon gets up and fix his drink.

"Have the search in the other packs started?" I ask

"Yes! No one knows it’s a white wolf we are looking for.But right now no one has seen anything out of the ordinary and no one has any new members in that age and girl" I sigh.

“Well I better go and keep searching in the library."

"I can come with you," Cannon says and we walk out and head over to the library.

We look everywhere and practically turn the library upside down.

After a couple of hours, the mindlink opens and Declan shouts from the other side.

"Kian and Cannon get to the office right now! Drop everything and get here"

His voice tells me this isn’t a joke.

We drop everything we have in our hands and rush over to my office.

When we walk in I see he is shocked.

Declan is staring at the computer.

There is something he has found out.

"come here," he says and we walk over to look at what he is staring at.

When I see what he is looking at my mouth falls open.

It’s her! The picture isn’t the best but there is no doubt it's her.

"I was looking in the finance paper on the internet and came across this article and my eyes were drawn to the girl behind.Though she was beautiful so I zoomed in and saw it was her."

He zooms out and I see her in the arms of another man, it looks like they are dancing.She has a beautiful blue dress on her.I let out a snarl at the sight of her in another man's arm.

"calm down you big bad wolf," Declan says

"look at the date" he points at the date of the article and it was from yesterday.

"Where is it take?"

Task 1

"look there, an event but it is held in that city." He says and I recognize the city as a human place.

We have two packs not far away from the city and I know them well.

Could one of them have her in their pack without telling me?

"It doesn't make any sense," I say Cannon starts to walk to the door.

"where are you going?" I ask him

“ To find my Queen, if she is in that city I will find her and I will be bringing some trackers with me.I will never take a no for an answer! " he states and walks out of the door.

Chapter 25 Selena pov

I have been feeling anxious these last days since Elijah kissed me, it was stupid of me to let it happen.I know Kian would have felt it.

It wasn't supposed to happen! All I did to make them believe I was dead is now out the window.

I have been avoiding Elijah at work since, saying I have a lot of work that needs to be done.

Today I am working from home, the hospital is almost done and there is some delivery coming in today.I need to se that everything is right with the delivery.

I have been training with my warriors this morning my beta Jessie is the trainer usually but today I feel the need to go and get some energy out.

It felt better when I was done with the training and got some breakfast.

Heading up to my office and try to get some work done.I'm so tired, every night since I saw my mate again he has been haunting my dreams.

Waking up in the middle of the night.

My dreams are always the same I see two eyes in the dark and I hear a growl before he walks out of the dark with his teeth on display and I try to back away when he keeps following me.

I trip on something on the ground and he keeps walking and stops when he stands over me in his big black wolf and I se the beast in him when he looks at me.

After that, I wake up and my heart beats fast in my chest.I don’t know what I think of the dream and the lack of sleep is getting to me.

“Selena! I am talking to you"

I hear Emma speak to me and I turn my head to her.She is standing by the door to my office in the pack house.

"I have been talking to you for the last couple of minutes.Do you still have a hard time sleeping? You know I can make you a potion for your sleep"

"I know but I need to be available if anything happens," I say

"Don’t worry nothing will happen" she tries to reassure me but I'm not convinced.

"What did you want? " I look at her and wait for her answer

“Well the delivery has arrived and some of the warriors are up there if you want to go and have a look," she says

"Yes I better go there and check it out"

I walk out of my office and head over to our warehouse, we have a big building out by the main road where they deliver what we have ordered.

No one outside our pack can come in on our land.We have put up a barrier that no one can cross and from the outside, our land looks like a dark swamp.

It’s just an illusion but no one has ever come close to our pack.

We have been blessed with all these gifted witches to help keep this pack hidden from the outside world.

Today we are a village hiding behind our barrier, completely hidden and safe.

When we got a delivery after the truck have left we get the things by our trucks and this far no one has ever seen more than this warehouse.

There are always some warriors outside our barrier and checking the surroundings for anything unusual.

Not even the closest packs know we exist and I would like to keep it that way.

Most of us know how it is to be left with nothing, and that makes this pack so special.

We want the pack to work and everyone to feel loved and welcome.We help each other out and that makes us strong.

The hospital will be ready in two days and we wait for the last equipment.

Sari and Emma will work at the hospital, we also have a doctor and a nurse in our pack.

They found each other in the pack as second-chance mates.

I couldn't be happier! We have had a few who have found their mates in our pack and I am happy for them.

When I walk into the building it takes me more than an hour to go through the delivery but everything is right.

We close the doors and decide to move them early in the morning before there is any traffic on the road.

When we walk outside the wind changes and I get a tiny whiff of something familiar.

I freeze on the spot and try to inhale deeply to see if I can sense the smell again but as fast as it came it is gone again.It has me puzzled if I really smelled it.

"Did you pick up something?"

Jacob walks up to me and asks.

“Yes it felt familiar somehow, but as fast as it came it was gone again and I couldn’t place it"

"What do you think it is?" he asks

"I want all the patrols on the inside of the barrier tonight and no one is allowed to go outside before I have checked the surroundings in the morning." I give him the orders and look around us.

"what do you think it was?" He asks again, I hear he is worried.

"I don’t know but I don’t like the feeling so I just want to be on the safe side.No one is allowed out"

“Yes I will take it with them right away," he says and walks away.

I decide to shift and take a look around the woods, if there is something out there I will find it.

Running for a long time and trying to pick up any trace on the way I have to give up at last.

There isn't a trace after the scent again and it has me questioning if I really smelled it.I have a strange feeling on my way back and not before we are inside the barrier can I relax.
