Jealousy *Selena*

"Selena, more wine, please," Avery ordered in a voice too sweet to be genuine, the look of victory unmistakable on her face.

I quickly took the bottle from the counter behind me and promptly moved toward the table.

Strictly keeping my eyes only on the glasses, I poured wine when their whispering caught my attention. Though I didn't want to peek, I could see them from the corner of my eyes as they were sitting precisely before me. Avery leaned closer to Zander's chest, whispering something in his ears. Zander smirked, looking at her.

Avery's eyes were fixed on Zander's lips as he told her about his trip. She shifted closer promptly, their lips an inch apart. My heartbeat shot up.

I was so nervous... and scared that I would make some mistakes, and my hand trembled as the wine overflowed the glass.

Shit. I tried to stop liquid from spilling out of it, and my clumsy hand accidentally hit the glass, and it fell, dripping the red liquor on Avery's dress and her thighs. Oh, no!

Startled, Zander and Avery jumped to their feet quickly.

"Fuck!" Avery groaned, looking at her dress.

"I...I am so sorry. I am so sorry," I gasped.

Avery glared at me, clenching her teeth as she frequently wiped the wetness from her dress.

"Avery, you should wash it quickly. Otherwise, it will have a stain," Zander suggested in his calm voice.

"But our date?!" Avery whimpered.

"We will have another date some other day," he assured her as he ushered her toward the car.

"Are you coming?" She asked in her demanding tone.

"I will join you at the pack house. You go," he instructed sternly.

I felt guilt clawing my chest for spoiling their date.

Shit!

What happened to me? How could I act so irrationally?

I wanted to hit my head on a rock. It was so embarrassing.

"So you did it intentionally?!" A deep voice pulled me out of my remorseful moment.

"Excuse me?!" I frowned, turning to glance at my accuser. "What are you talking about? I have no idea what you're accusing me of," I said calmly, trying to keep my emotions in check.

"You are jealous!" He announced, smirking as his voice taunted me.

"I am not!" I hissed, glaring at him.

"Yes, you are!" He said, looking into my eyes and the confidence in his voice made me want to smack his cheek.

Arrogant prick.

But I controlled my anger and stopped myself from doing something that gave him more reason to be happy. "You're delusional!" I whispered, and turning my back, I began clearing the table.

He grabbed my arm, making me turn toward him. A spark erupted in my skin where he touched it. I tried my best to push that feeling far away before he noticed it. But the truth was it was so hard for me not to gasp as my body began trembling with his proximity. The Alpha's aura was so dominating and very intimidating.

"You are jealous, and you have spilled the wine on my date's dress because of jealousy. In the same way, as you did to Princess Ella when she was here as our guest and trying to get close to me," he reminded me, looking deep into my eyes and challenging me to refuse it if I could.

"It.. it was different at that time. We were mates and..." I looked at him in disdain.

"And?!" He frowned as I snatched my arm from his grasp.

"Now we are ex-mates," I announced, reminding him of our reality.

"But still, you want me," he said smugly.

I snickered. His ego was so huge.

What the hell did he think about himself?

"You think so highly of yourself, Your Highness," I snorted.

"You don't want to admit it, Selena, but you still want me," he cocked his head before throwing his scrutinizing gaze at me. "Otherwise, what else could be the reason for you to be here?"

"You are wrong. I am here because you forced me to work for your future Luna," I snapped at him.

"Really! Is this the only reason?!" He challenged, "Tell me the truth. Why are you here, Selena?! Why did you come back all of a sudden when I was going to remarry?"

He was degrading me again, just like he always used to do when we were together, breaking me bit by bit and making me think it was my fault.

"You know what?! Fuck you!" I yelled as tears welled up in my eyes.

I didn't care about that job and him. But I couldn't bear his arrogance anymore. So I ran off to the other side of the lake before he could see what he had done to me. I couldn't bear that arrogant smirk on his face after seeing the tears in my eyes. So I ran and kept running until my legs gave up. I had no idea where I was going, but I just wanted to escape from him and the ghost of the shadow of our past.

When I stopped, I realized I had gone so far, and only darkness was everywhere. The forest had become so dense in this part of the woods that the moonlight couldn't filter through the vast covering of leaves of the tall trees.

In the past, during my time in the Moonglow pack, Zander had never let me go toward the dense forest because I was wolfless. However, I was stronger and faster than an average human, and my senses were also more active. So, believing in my nonexistent animalistic instinct, I began to find a way back to the pack house.

I twirled around, inspecting the surroundings in the darkness, and decided to follow the path on which I came this way.

But when I turned, I found no particular path but only lots of trees around me that were barely visible.

Now I hated Zander even more.

My head snapped to the right when I heard some noise before a rotten smell made me nauseous.

Rogues?

The next moment, I saw two pairs of red eyes gleaming in the dark followed by the appearance of two big shadows.

Because of the dark night and dimly lit forest, I could only outline the shadows, which appeared to be wolves, as I guessed earlier. Before I got alert, one of them lunged at me. I quickly ducked, escaping his attack.

My heart was pounding as I realized the danger I had just narrowly avoided. I took a deep breath and tried to steady myself, ready for whateve might come next. It was a tense moment, but I knew I had to stay focused and keep my wits about me. As I looked around, I saw the other wolf closing in, his eyes fixed on me with a mix of curiosity and hostility. I knew I had to act fast if I wanted to stay safe.

My heart raced as another figure approached me, causing me to retreat quickly a few steps until I was pressed against a sturdy tree squinted in the dim light before

stretching my eyes wider and S. ne

adjusting my vision to the darkness.

I could faintly make out the shape of the wolf as it charged toward me, baring its teeth.

As I saw him lunging at me, I instinctively moved out of his way. He didn't see the large tree trunk in front of him and collided with it with incredible force. The impact was so severe that he fell to the ground and let out a loud howl of pain.

I could not get time to be pleased as his partner growled angrily, and he ran towards me. As he jumped, I knelt and slid beneath him, punching his stomach hard to make him fall far away from me. Their stomachs were the most delicate part of their bodies. My eyes quickly scanned my surroundings to find a way to escape.

I dashed in a direction believing on

my instinct, but I had to stop in my

track as one of the wolves jumped before me. I staggered back promptly and fell on my ass. My eyes fixed on the wolf as he jumped, and

drolled to the side, making him fall behind me. But he was quick to turn and lunged at my head. My heart came into my mouth as I placed my hands on the ground, pushing myself backward.

"Ah!!!" A painful scream left my throat.

The fücking dog caught my leg in his dirty jaws, trying to bite it off my body.

My hands moved frantically in pain, finding a stick as I poked it into the wolf's eye. The wolf let out a yelp and retreated, giving me a moment to catch my breath. But my relief was short-lived as another wolf lunged at me, sending me into a panic as I desperately covered my face with my arms.

I waited for two heartbeats to uncover my eyes when I heard a painful cry before a powerful growl.

Chapter 502 The Saviour *Selena*

My leg bled as the pain seared through my body. Unable to see the rogue wolf lunging toward me with bared fangs, I covered my eyes, anticipating the last lethal attack.

But then, a bloodcurdling howl pierced the night air. It was a cry filled with pain and fury. A cry that seemed to reverberate through my very bones. As the chilling howl echoed, a powerful growl followed, vibrating with pure dominance and aggression.

Summoning every ounce of courage left within me, I dared to open my eyes. What I saw made me gasp in astonishment and relief. Standing between the attacking rogue and I was a massive black wolf, his robust frame pulsating with raw energy and its fur gleaming under the pale moonlight. It was Lyon, the enigmatic Alpha.

I could recognize him even in the dark. He was so huge and so powerful that no match of his was in this world. The aura that oozed out of him was otherworldly.

Lyon bared his teeth, revealing razor-sharp fangs, as he locked eyes with the rogue, who was now lying on the ground with his bleeding limb.

The other wolf with his bleeding eye also jumped, attacking Lyon. With lightning speed, Lyon lunged forward, his muscles rippling with raw power. The two wolves clashed, their bodies colliding in a frenzy of fur, claws, and snarls.

Lyon's movements were a blur of calculated precision and deadly grace. He moved swiftly around the rogue, avoiding its desperate lunges while launching precise strikes of his own. His jaws snapped shut with bone-crushing force as he aimed for the rogue's throat, aiming to sever its lifeline. He sank his teeth deep into the rogue's flesh, a snarl of dominance rumbling from his throat. The rogue fought back desperately, clawing and biting, but Lyon held firm, his grip unyielding.

With a final, powerful jerk, Lyon tore the rogue wolf's head apart, ending its life with a grisly display of dominance. The lifeless body crumpled to the ground, blood staining the earth beneath it.

The other wolf began to run away upon seeing his partner's merciless death.

But Lyon chased and blocked him before he could run away. With a warning glare, both lunged at each other, colliding, and the battle raged on. Two wolves locked in a desperate struggle for survival. Their growls and snarls echoed through the night, a symphony of primal rage and dominance. With every strike, Lyon displayed the skills of a true warrior, with unwavering determination.

It wasn't difficult for Lyon to seize the upper hand. But as far as I knew him, he liked the chase and torturing his prey before giving it a cruel death. With a final surge of strength, he brought the rogue to the ground, pinning it beneath his massive paws. With one swift, merciless motion, Lyon tore the rogue's head apart, silencing its desperate cries forever. I watched all this with my heart caught in my mouth. It was very terrifying to see Lyon so angry.

Panting heavily, Lyon rose from the defeated rogue, his eyes shining with a mix of triumph and concern. Slowly, he turned his gaze toward me, and a low but dangerous growl left his throat.

As Lyon stalked toward me with anger blazing in his eyes and blood dripping from his maw, my heart pounded with fear. When I was his mate, he was always protective of me. But at that moment, his appearance was intimidating, and his fury sent shivers down my spine. With trembling body, I tried to retreat, to distance myself from Lyon's approaching figure. As I tried to stand, the pain flared through my body, but I barely registered it, my focus fixated on the imminent presence of the furious Lyon dashing toward me. I couldn't keep my eyes on him as I cried, my injured leg struggled to bear my weight, and I stumbled, collapsing to the ground.

In a fraction of a second, his massive wolf form shifted, contorting and reshaping into that of a human. Before my body collided with the hard ground, I was gathered securely in a pair of strong arms.

Wide-eyed and breathless, I looked up at Zander, my body trembling from a combination of fear and pain. As if he sensed, he lifted me off my feet and pulled me closer to his naked form. His fingers slid into my hair, tugging harshly, tilting my head back, and making me gasp. But before I could comprehend what was happening, his lips crashed onto mine.

Caught off guard, my eyes widened in surprise, my heart racing in my chest. My hands raised and pressed onto his bare chest, pushing him away. But the moment he growled into my mouth, I lost my senses. All the memories of our first kiss came alive. I found my hands gliding toward his neck, circling his scruff, drawing him closer. It was a meeting of fire and ice, a collision of two souls driven by a blend of desire, relief, and the potent mix of emotions that had been building between us.

Our kiss was intense. Our bodies pressed together as if we were trying to merge into one. Our tongues intertwined, and our lips moved with a fierce passion as if releasing all the pent-up emotions and anger we had been holding onto for years.

Our teeth clashed as we battled for dominance, and our entangled tongues fought for control. It was a moment of pure passion and desire, and nothing else in the world seemed to matter.

Time seemed to stand still as the kiss turned feral. He pressed me against the tree trunk, still keeping my feet in the air, as his steely arms held me tightly.

As if the spell broke, he moved away, panting heavily, his cold eyes locked with mine. The anger again swelled inside me, realizing what he had done to me. I felt violated and hurt. He couldn't treat me that way.

With my trembling lips still bruised from his relentless kiss, I whispered, "You can't..."

"Shh!!!" He silenced me, closing his eyes and placing his forehead against mine.

"It was Lyon," he murmured. "I couldn't control him."

I was dumbstruck after hearing him.

"Why?" I choked on my emotions with embarrassment.

"I don't know," he murmured, and opening his eyes, he looked at me with a notch between his thick brows as if he couldn't believe what just happened. His expression was a mix of confusion and bewilderment, and it was evident that he was also struggling to comprehend the situation.

Before I got back to him with something harsh, he picked me up in his arms.

"What are you doing?" I protested.

"Taking you to the pack house," he replied coldly.

"Put me down. I can go myself," I ordered, and he instantly put me on my feet.

I winced as my leg hurt and again lost balance, but he held me once more, saving me from collapsing on the ground.

"You can't even stand properly," he announced, picking me up in a bridal style.

"Wear some clothes at least," I mumbled, feeling awkward as he was stark naked, walking in his full glory while having me in his arms.

I bit my lips, not focusing on what was poking my back.

"We werewolves are used to being

seen without clothes, and if you are worried about some she wolves will watch me..." he started, the arrogance dripping from his@oice.

en

What?!

"Why would I care?!" I snapped, glaring at him.

"Good. Then don't worry. It's all good," he assured me as he walked us out of the woods.

"Now hold me tightly," he warned before speeding up, and I barely got time to cling to him as he took off speedily.

We were inside the pack house and in my room in a few minutes.

Placing me on the bed, he observed my wound. I winced at his touching it. He had now at least wrapped a towel around his waist, and I was relieved. Holding my leg, he licked my wounds a few times.

"Wait, what are you doing?" I gasped, and I couldn't help but feel the pleasure coursing through me despite being in pain.

The arousal awakened and I couldn't stop myself from moaning.

He didn't reply but watched my wound earnestly as it was almost healed.

"It looks better. How about pain now?!" He asked.

The wound had actually stopped bleeding, and the pain subsided. I had heard about his magical powers but had never seen them. What else was he capable of?!

"It doesn't hurt anymore. How did you do this?" I asked with amazement.

"I got this boon with my birth," he revealed.

"So, can you heal this wound too?!" I asked, pointing to the burn wound on my upper arm.

"So, you want me to lick you up?!" He smirked.

"Shut up, you pervert," my jaw dropped at his shamelessness.

His eyes narrowed to a thin line as he clenched his teeth. I braced myself for the consequences of cursing a King. But to my surprise, his eyes shifted to my burn wound as he examined it closely.

"This will heal naturally," he said nonchalantly, getting up and walking to the door. "Then, why did you treat this one? You would have let it also heal naturally," I challenged him.

"So, you can walk and complete your job. I want you to get out of my pack and my life as soon as possible," he spat out his words as his expression turned unreadable. With a dangerous stare, he abruptly left the room.

Chapter 503 The Royal Guest *Selena*

The next morning, I woke up early and made my way to the kitchen, only to find that a meeting had already been called by the matron, Eden. I glanced around and noticed the omegas had gathered before their schedule, their faces displaying a mix of anticipation and trepidation. I didn't know what was going on as I was away from the pack house yesterday evening and night. I spotted Lola and beckoned her to come over. Lola glanced at Eden before drifting toward me. "What's happening?" I whispered in my clipped tone while keeping my gaze on Eden.

Lola sighed, her face reflecting a mixture of frustration and weariness.

"The matron called us all in. The Alpha King's sister and their mother are returning since his sister has just graduated. And I heard there's going to be another prestigious guest arriving this evening. The matron warned us last night that we must prepare for a grand royal feast and ensure the entire pack house is spotless and welcoming. She made it clear that there will be consequences if we fail. Now she is repeating it as Luna Avery wants nothing but perfection."

So Blair and Catherine were returning to the pack. Blair was Zander's sister, and Catherine was his mother.

"All omegas, gather around!" The matron barked, her harsh voice echoing through the room. "Listen up. We have important news. As I informed you all yesterday, the Alpha King's sister and mother will be back in the pack after three years, and an esteemed guest will be arriving in the evening. We must prepare for a royal feast and ensure that the entire pack house is in perfect order to welcome them. I don't want a single mistake from you. Otherwise, the punishment for today's mistake is a death sentence, and it's Luna Avery's order." She smirked as the joy of killing gleamed in her eyes. This woman and her Luna were crazy. Who gave them the right to dictate a death sentence? They didn't know how to run a kingdom or a pack. However, I felt bad for Zander. But it was one of his wrong choices, and Avery again proved to be a perfect match for him. I snorted inwardly.

I could feel the atmosphere turn cold with fear as the threat in Eden's voice sent a ripple of stress through the gathered omegas. My heart sank, thinking, what if it was not a mere threat and she was serious? How could Zander let it happen in his pack house? Was he actually so busy that he was unaware of all this happening in his pack?

Still, cleaning and preparing the entire pack house for such prestigious guests would require immense effort and meticulous attention to detail. It was impossible not to make any mistakes, no matter how much we tried. However, without wasting one more second, the omegas sprang into action. We scurried around the kitchen, grabbing brooms, mops, and cleaning supplies. The room filled with a symphony of hurried footsteps and clattering utensils as we worked tirelessly to avoid Eden's wrath.

Time ran off so quickly as we all moved with an efficiency born out of necessity, as there was no room for mistakes or delays.

Sweat trickled down my brow as I glanced at the clock. Shit! I needed to rush to complete my assigned tasks and attend to Avery.

It was almost lunchtime, and we were about to serve. Today, more food items were added to the menu as per Blair and Catehrine's choices, and we all worked very hard and diligently, standing on one foot to meet their expectations. "It's so good to be back," Blair's excited voice reverberated through the entrance of the pack house, announcing her arrival.

She was always like this and always made her presence known to everyone through her bubbly behavior. The whole pack house became alive again after Blair's melodious laugh rang through the surroundings. Every dead wall, lifeless roof, and dull ambiance became intriguing as the Princess returned.

I had had a good relationship with her in the past. But I didn't know what reaction to expect from her after Zander rejected me. She was a good, dedicated, supportive sister and always proud of her brother.

"So everyone, how was your life without me?" Blair giggled as she twirled in the center of the vast hall with her arms outstretched. "I hope you missed me as much as I did."

"And what is this aroma?" Closing her eyes, she inhaled deeply. "It makes my mouth water. What is cooking in the kitchen?" She said as she strode straight toward the kitchen.

I kept my head lower, hesitated, and could not look at her.

"Selena!" A surprised gasp left her mouth, and I felt her approaching me.

"Oh, my goddess! It's a pleasant surprise to see you here," her eyes showed genuine emotion. "But I am upset because you left without any words. Though much as I am angry with you, I miss you," She admitted, pulling me into a hug.

"Blair!" Zander's mother, Catherine's angry voice, made Blair pull away from me. "How many times have I told you that you should start acting like a princess? Stop behaving recklessly."

"Mother, I am a princess, and it doesn't matter whatever I do, I will still be a princess," Blair rolled her eyes. "So what you said a minute ago doesn't make sense."

I suppressed a smile. Blair was always rebellious and liked to break the rules. Everyone ignored her careless behavior in the past when she was very young, but now she was an adult and would soon find a mate or maybe had already found one. I didn't know. So, I understood Catherine's worry. I just wished the Moon Goddess would bless Blair with a mate as understanding and caring as she was herself.

"Shut up, Blair, and follow me," Catherine scolded, and Blair gave me an apologetic smile.

"I will see you later," she whispered.

"I heard you, Blair," her mother yelled at her again, and Blair bit her tongue.

But, of course, they were werewolves, so they could hear even a subtle whisper.

Everything at lunch was of Blair's taste. She enjoyed it and didn't hesitate to appreciate it. The Omegas were happy to get some sweet words as a reward after their hard work to make this lunch so memorable. Zander didn't join them for lunch because he went to his office and was going to return only in the evening to welcome his royal guest.

The day passed in a blur, and we did not even get time to breathe peacefully. Soon after lunch, we had to start preparing for the royal feast as the royal guest was arriving in the evening.

The omegas worked tirelessly throughout the morning and into the afternoon, our collective efforts turning the pack house into a gleaming testament of our commitment. Every corner was meticulously cleaned, every surface polished to perfection.

As the sun began to dip below the horizon, signaling the approach of evening, Eden inspected our work. Her stern expression became scowling as she threw a utensil on the floor to draw our attention.

"Hurry up, you lazy asses! I want everything ready and this mess cleared before the party starts," she demanded brutally.

We had been working non-stop since morning, and I had to take care of Avery's requirements for her diet also. Apart from being her personal butler, she told me that I also had to help in the kitchen and other housework because today was the big day. Everything was set on the table, and the whole pack was invited to the feast. The kitchen was working nonstop to feed every single person in the Moonglow pack.

As the sky darkened and the moon

hung high in the sky, the entire pack was gleaming with colorful lights strung up throughout the street. The front yard of the pack house was decorated and open for everyone, which provided more space for members of the largest pack of the North to gather to see the royal guest.

"Selena, the royal guest is about to arrive. We should hurry up and change clothes. We have been wearing them since morning," Lola suggested.

"Lola, you go and change. I have some work left, and I have to finish it before the guest arrives," I replied with a smile before turning my attention back to the gas stove.

After seasoning and plating the food decoratively, I went to set the royal dining table. I had done it a few times in the past, and I knew how to set it for the royal feast.

With the help of some omegas, I finally set the table perfectly. All the dishes were placed in the center. Plates and crockery were lined in a defined manner.

"You all should also change clothes because the party is about to start," I suggested, smiling, and the omegas' faces brightened. I knew they only got to the party occasionally because they had to stay behind all the arrangements.

However, when I was here this time,

I could stay behind and manage the

work. So they could enjoy it a little while I looked after the

กวนๆ

arrangements. Nevertheless, I didn't feel the need to change. I was not here to impress anyone or have fun. I was here for a purpose.

Last night, I had been waiting for a message from my anonymous client, but again got no instructions from him. I was unsure of whether to stay or leave, as I was clueless about the situation.

After double-checking the arrangement, I picked up the lamb soup Avery needed according to her schedule and made my way to her room.

"Selena, you haven't changed," Lola's voice made me turn around.

I stared at her, stunned. She looked so pretty, wearing a beautiful sea-green gown.

"My Goddess! Lola, you look so gorgeous," I beamed.

"Thank you," she giggled, blushing. "Where are you going?"

"I am going to deliver Luna Avery's soup to her room," I explained.

"Give it to me. I will deliver it," she offered. "You go change into a pretty dress before our guest arrives," she insisted.

"I am fine. I want this day to end quickly. So I can go back to my room and throw myself on my bed," I sighed, turning hurriedly to go to Avery's room and was startled, colliding with the rock.

Fuck!

How did, all of a sudden, this rock fall in midway?

The soup spilled, and my hand went reflexively to my face, fearing that the hot soup would splash on my face, anticipating scorching pain. But it never came because someone swung me swiftly before the soup fell on my face. Wide eyes and breathing heavily, I looked up at my savior, and two twinkling blue eyes met mine, making me freeze momentarily.

"Arabella?!" The name left those full lips, the voice casting spells.

Chapter 504 Royal Introduction *Selena*

"Arabella?!" The hot Greek God gasped, his sculpted features contorted with astonishment as his eyes locked onto mine.

I found myself momentarily frozen, unable to tear my gaze away from his intense, bright blue eyes. There was something captivating about him, something that made me feel both exhilarated and strangely familiar, even though I was certain we had never met before. "Selena?!" Lola's voice rang out, with a deep throat-clearing voice in the background that made us come out of our trance, breaking through the hazy bubble that had formed around the mysterious stranger.

She hurried to my side, her eyes wide with bewilderment as she took in the scene before her. Her gaze darted between me and the striking stranger, clearly searching for answers. She turned to me, her voice filled with confusion, "Who is Arabella?"

Her words only added to the whirlwind of confusion that had enveloped me. I was just as perplexed as Lola as to why this stranger was addressing me by a name that wasn't mine.

Before I could respond, a commanding voice boomed through the air, demanding the stranger's attention, and Zander's intimidating figure appeared next to me.

"Prince Damon! Will you release her?" He demanded, his tone carrying authority and power and his annoyance palpable.

It was then that I realized the stranger, whom I now knew as Prince Damon, was still holding me in his arms.

Prince Damon's amusement faded as he registered Alpha Zander's words. He slowly released his grip on me, his gaze turning from playful to more serious. Alpha Zander, with his cold expression and furrowed brow, stepped forward, standing intimidatingly by my side. "You are mistaken, Prince Damon," Alpha Zander stated firmly, his voice tinged with a hint of warning. "You must be confusing her with someone else."

A smirk played on Prince Damon's lips as he glanced at me, seemingly amused by the situation.

"Really? You're not Arabella?" He asked, his tone teasing.

I swallowed nervously, feeling a wave of shyness wash over me.

"No, sir," I replied softly, my voice tinged with timidity. "My name is Selena."

"Too bad. A beautiful girl like you should be named Arabella," Prince Damon declared, his gaze unwavering as it remained fixed on my face.

His words left me momentarily speechless, unsure of how to respond to such a statement. The tension in the air became even more palpable, exacerbated by the presence of Alpha Zander, whose cold aura seemed to intensify in response to Prince Damon's remark. Feeling the weight of the awkwardness that hung in the air, I stumbled over my words, desperately searching for an excuse to escape the uncomfortable situation.

"I... Um... excuse me," I managed to mutter, my voice laced with unease.

I turned to leave, hoping to find solace in the distance between us.

However, Prince Damon's voice cut through the air, stopping me in my tracks.

"Wait, you didn't introduce yourself," he called out, his tone curious yet filled with an underlying charm.

I hesitated, debating whether to continue walking or acknowledge his question.

Before I could respond, Alpha Zander interjected, attempting to fill in the gaps.

"She is Selena. She is my..." Zander began, and I panicked, not wanting to let him mention our connection. So I took the matter into my own hands.

Interrupting Alpha Zander, I interjected firmly, "I am Luna Avery's personal butler."

Prince Damon's eyebrows furrowed in surprise at my response.

"Oh, that's strange," he exclaimed, his eyes narrowing slightly. "I thought you were a princess."

His words carried a hint of curiosity as if he had expected a different answer. I couldn't help but snort in disbelief, my amusement mingling with a touch of bitterness.

"I am not a princess," I replied curtly, the weight of my words laden with resignation. I was no longer a princess. Period.

As I turned to leave, Prince Damon's voice reached my ears once again, compelling me to pause.

"You seem so much in a hurry that you didn't ask for my name, angel," he called out, his tone laced with amusement.

Nodding, I turned back towards him, ready to engage in a formal introduction. My curiosity was piqued as Prince Damon took a step forward, a confident smile gracing his lips. His hand extended gracefully to his sides, gesturing to himself as if presenting his regal presence. The air seemed to shift as he spoke, his voice carrying a hint of authority and magnetism.

"I am the vampire prince, Damon Shadowborne," he declared, his voice filled with a sense of pride that befit his royal status. The weight of his words settled in the air, emphasizing the significance of his lineage and power.

As my gaze shifted to take in his appearance fully, I couldn't help but be struck by his sheer presence. He stood tall, towering above most with an aura of strength and dominance. Every line of his sculpted physique seemed to exude power, making it clear that he was a force to be reckoned with.

His bright blue eyes held an intensity

of

that captivated me, drawing me into their depths. They sparkled with a hidden depth, hinting at centuries experience and wisdom. This vampire was truly magical. The contrast of his dark blonde hair against his pale complexion added to his allure, accentuating his features and enhancing the charm

that emanated from him.

I couldn't deny the magnetic pull that Prince Damon possessed, a combination of his physical presence, his royal lineage, and the enigmatic allure that seemed to surround him. Anyone would be drawn to his charming personality and I was not an exception, I guessed. "Welcome to the Moonglow Pack, Prince Damon Shadowborne," I greeted, offering a slight bow as a sign of respect.

Prince Damon acknowledged my gesture with a nod of appreciation, his eyes lingering on me as he spoke.

"Thank you, Selena. It seems my arrival to this pack has already proven useful," he remarked, his gaze fixed on me. There was an undeniable intensity in his eyes as if he saw something beyond my mere presence in the pack.

Alpha Zander cleared his throat, drawing Prince Damon's attention away from me.

"Prince Damon," he intervened, his tone indicating a need for focus. "Let's go to the celebration grounds. We have organized a grand party to welcome you."

Prince Damon nodded in agreement, acknowledging Alpha Zander's suggestion. He then turned his attention back to me.

"See you at the party, Selena," he said with a warm smile.

Returning the smile, I bowed once again, showing my respect for his royalty.

"Thank you, Prince Damon," I replied politely, even though I knew I had no intention of attending the party. It wasn't my place to partake in such grand celebrations anymore.

When they left, I turned to Lola.

"Lola, you go and enjoy yourself. I will make another soup for Luna Avery and see to the arrangements inside the kitchen." I suggested. As my cover, I had to be in my role as Luna Avery's personal butler, taking care of the pack's needs in the background. Lola looked at me with concern.

"Are you sure, Selena, that you don't want to come to the party?" She asked, concern etched in her voice.

I shook my head, my determination unwavering.

"I'm not interested in those parties. I'm okay here," I replied, shrugging.

Lola nodded understandingly and went off to join the celebration.

The sounds of the party filled the air

as music blasted through the speakers and laughter echoed throughout the pack house. From the kitchen, I could faintly hear the cheering and excitement of the pack members. It seemed that ou hard work had paid off, and everyone was enjoying the food and the joyful atmosphere.

Hours passed, and gradually the party began to wind down. The pack members left, and the royal guests were escorted to their designated rooms. The house fell into a silence that contrasted sharply with the previous revelry.

Feeling hungry and tired after

cleaning up the pack house with the

help of other omegas, I finally

decided to eat something. However, when I went to the kitchen, I found only a small amount of leftover food. Gathering it on a plate, I was about téstart eating when Matron Eden appeared before me.

"Selena, what are you going to do?" Eden asked, her tone dripping with mockery.

I looked at the plate in my hand and replied, "Having dinner."

Eden smirked cunningly and ordered, "Give that plate here. I am very tired, and I need to eat something urgently."

I knew what she was doing. However, I had no choice but to hand her the plate.

I sighed, knowing that I would have to go to bed hungry. But just as I was about to resign myself to my fate, Lola approached me with an empathetic expression.

"Selena, Eden is evil, but here, I have a hidden piece of bread for you. I'm sorry you have to work with just a piece of bread," she said, her voice filled with genuine concern.

"Thank you, Lola," I smiled gratefully, silently thanking the Moon Goddess for Lola's kindness. I was about to eat when I heard the sound of a child crying.

Curiosity piqued, I turned to see an omega's child in distress.

"What happened?" I asked, gently caressing his head.

His mother explained, "He fell asleep when the function started, and now he woke up hungry. Everything is finished, and no food is left."

With empathy filling my heart, I offered the child the bread I had.

"Sweetie, don't cry. Take this bread. I hope it will fill your tummy," I said, extending the piece of bread to him.

"Thank you. This is enough for him," the child's mother smiled, gratitude shining in her eyes.

"It's no problem," I smiled back, sighing.

My own hunger seemed to dissipate as I watched the child eat the bread, his face lighting up with contentment and happiness. At that moment, I realized that even though I had sacrificed my own meal, the joy I felt in my heart was far more satisfying than any food could ever be.

Chapter 505 Midnight Ramen *Selena*

Sitting in my dimly lit room, I could feel the anticipation building as I opened my laptop. The anonymous client of mine hadn't contacted me in two days. The screen flickered to life, and within seconds, a text message appeared from the anonymous client. My heart glinted with hope as I read the words: Help is there. Get back into action.*

I leaned back in my chair, absorbing the gravity of those few words. Tonight was the night, the moment when I had to prove my worth by breaking into the world's most secure system. It was a challenge that only a genius hacker like myself could undertake. With a sense of determination burning in my chest, I knew I had to seize this opportunity.

Time seemed to slow down as I glanced at the clock on my desk. I could feel the nervousness trying to rise in my heart again, but I pushed it down with the realization that I had help in the pack house who would handle the cruel Alpha King from reaching me. Midnight approached the critical hour when the shift of security guards changed. It was the perfect window of opportunity for me to execute my plan. I had already meticulously studied the security protocols and mapped out every detail of the building's layout. Now, it was time to put my skills to the test, and I was determined.

As I waited in the darkness of my room, the minutes felt like hours. The silence was broken by a sudden clamor of utensils rattling in the kitchen. Frustration welled up within me as I cursed under my breath.

Who in their right mind would be awake at this ungodly hour?

Driven by curiosity and the need for silence, I sighed and closed my laptop, leaving behind the glow of the screen. I stealthily made my way toward the kitchen, determined to investigate the disturbance. As I approached, I caught a glimpse of a figure moving about.

I found the great Alpha King Zander Blake occupied in the pack's kitchen, his attention focused on the countertop as he rummaged through various items. The choice loomed before me, threatening to disrupt the delicate balance between caution and ambition. I knew that any delay could jeopardize my mission, yet curiosity sparked within me, and I approached him cautiously, my eyes fixed on his every action.

"Alpha," I called out, and his head snapped toward me, briefly glancing in my direction before returning his gaze to the slab where he continued his search.

Without acknowledging my presence, he muttered something under his breath that I couldn't hear, leaving me unsure of my place in the situation.

"How may I assist you, Alpha?" I inquired with a firm and dutiful tone as an omega.

Again, he remained silent, his focus unwavering.

I glanced around. Where the hell was my so-called help?! I took a deep breath to suppress my annoyance and kept a straight face. Determined to be of assistance, I took a few steps closer, closing the distance between us.

"If you would tell me what you are looking for, I can help you find it," I offered, my tone filled with earnestness.

Zander finally responded, his voice carrying his trademark coldness. "I am hungry, so I am making something for myself to eat."

Now his words piqued my interest. The great Alpha King, renowned for his power and authority, was preparing his own meal. It was as if the sun had risen from the west, defying all expectations.

Unable to suppress my intrigue, I whispered mockingly, "Have you ever cooked in your life?"

But I immediately slapped myself inwardly, realizing that as a werewolf, he could hear even the faintest whispers.

To my surprise, he remained silent, his attention focused on the contents of the refrigerator and the food containers. His determination to find what he needed was evident in his unwavering gaze. Taking a deep breath, I gathered my courage and spoke up once more, offering my assistance.

"Tell me what you want to eat, and I will make it for you, Alpha," I offered politely.

"Ramen!" His response caught me off guard.

Did I hear correctly?

Ramen?

Memories flooded my mind, back to the time when we were married. Zander had never shown any interest in ramen, despite my own fondness for it. I had a particular craving for eating ramen at midnight, and whenever I cooked it, he would look at me as if I were indulging in the most repulsive meal in the world.

And now, here he was, desiring ramen. Such irony and twists of fate left me momentarily bewildered. Suppressing all the emotions that flooded my memory, I turned to him with a faint smile.

"Please sit there," I gestured to a small bar stool beside the breakfast counter, a safe distance away from me. "I will get it ready soon."

Zander nodded in acknowledgment, his gaze following my movements as he took a seat. The intensity of his eyes on me was palpable, and it made me momentarily lose focus on the task at hand. I fought against the swirling emotions within me, determined to push any distracting thoughts deep into the recesses of my mind.

Switching on the gas, I placed a pan on the stove, adding water and waiting for it to reach a boil. Once the water was bubbling, I carefully poured in the chicken broth, its aromatic scent filling the air. The noodles followed suit, slipping into the boiling concoction, ready to soak up the flavors.

Throughout the process, I couldn't shake the awareness of Zander's eyes on me, was as if his gaze bore into my very soul, stirring up a mixture of emotions within me. The memory of his kiss from last night lingered in my mind, and my hand faltered for a split second, causing my finger to come into contact with the boiling water. I cursed inwardly, the pain coursing through my hand.

Before I could even react, Zander was suddenly beside me, his presence commanding as he took hold of my injured hand. My breath hitched at the unexpected proximity, my heart pounding in my chest. He guided my burned finger to his mouth, his lips enveloping them gently, his tongue caressing the burning pain away.

"Goddess!"

Pet

A gasp escaped my lips as a surge of sensation coursed through me. The overwhelming intimacy of the moment sent shivers down my spine, making my core throb with desire. His intense gaze bore into mine, his eyes reflecting a depth of passion and hunger that threatened to consume us both. Time seemed to stand still as desire unfurled between us, our breaths becoming heavy and ragged, our heartbeats synchronizing in a rhythm that echoed the escalating tension.

Zander's eyes darkened further,

Lost in the depths of his gaze, I felt myself being pulled under, drowning in the overwhelming intensity of our connection. The boundaries blurred at that moment as the need surged through my veins, leaving me breathless and vulnerable. Unconsciously, I licked my dry lips, a reflexive response to the overwhelming sensations that coursed through my body.

mirroring the depths of his desire. It was a moment charged with

longing, our bodies and souls yearning for something forbidden The heavy air crackled with anticipation, and I couldn't deny the

magnetic pull drawing us toward the

sinful path. The desires and the

unspoken words hung in the air,

creating an undeniable tension that I

could resist.

I tried my best to suppress the overwhelming feeling coursing through me, but a moan escaped my parted lips involuntarily. Zander's reaction was immediate, a growl rumbling in his chest, and his eyes turned almost dark. My lips parted, my breath coming in shallow gasps as he swiftly shifted closer, the distance between us dwindling. "Alpha, you... you can't..." I managed to pant out, my words breathless and filled with a mix of longing and warning.

Zander didn't leave my finger but sucked more. I could feel him breathing loudly, his chest heaved heavily. His focus remained solely on my finger as he sucked on it with intensity, the sensation threatening to drive me to the brink of desperation.

Biting my lip with all my might, I clenched my thighs and fought to hold back another loud moan, the overwhelming pleasure threatening to overpower my self-control. I was dripping wet and was so embarrassed of him finding out. However, he would have already known it as he could smell my arousal.

As my body betrayed, the fear clawed at my heart, trying hard not to give into his seduction.

But the question was, how long could I do it?!

Chapter 506 Confrontation *Selena*

I shifted uncomfortably, acutely aware of the evidence of my arousal that surely lingered in the air. The flush that colored my cheeks intensified, a vivid display of my embarrassment at the thought of him discovering my desires.

"It is healed," he declared, finally releasing my finger with a slight pop.

The contrast between his cold personality and the soft whisper of his voice sent shivers down my spine. As my attention shifted from the overwhelming sensation he had ignited within me, I noticed that the pain was gone. My finger appeared as if it had never been burned, the skin restored and unblemished.

Taking charge effortlessly, Zander promptly switched off the gas burner. The ramen was ready. Trying to regain composure, I mustered the strength to speak.

"Umm... I will serve it quickly. Please have a seat," I offered, attempting to keep my voice steady, though it still trembled with the aftershocks of our intense encounter.

"No need. I am getting late for the patrol shift," he dismissed indifferently, his tone revealing no emotions. "And my hunger had also died."

His gaze lingered on me, laden with unspoken meaning, before he vanished from sight in a blink, disappearing with the speed that only an Alpha possessed.

I stared blankly, trying to decipher his words and the underlying message behind them. If he didn't need to eat, then why had he bothered me in the middle of the night? My gaze shifted to the clock, realizing that the shift had likely changed and another set of guards would have taken charge by now. I groaned in frustration, realizing that once again, I had missed the opportunity, all because of the unpredictable actions of the enigmatic Alpha King.

As my eyes landed on the untouched bowl of ramen, my stomach growled with hunger, a reminder of my own needs. Resigned to the situation, I decided not to let the delicious meal go to waste. After all, I was still hungry, and the ramen called out to me. With a sigh, I sat down at the counter, eagerly reaching for the bowl, ready to savor the warm and comforting sustenance it offered.

************

*Zander*

"Yes, Mother?! You called for me?" I asked as I entered my mother's room, my tone tinged with a hint of impatience. I had to come hurriedly, leaving urgent work unfinished because she kept sending me messages.

"Sit down, Zander," she commanded, gesturing toward the plush leather couch. "I am extremely disappointed that you couldn't even make time to see your own mother," my mother scolded, her voice filled with frustration and concern. "Mother, you just came back yesterday," I replied, rolling my eyes at her unnecessary whining.

"And you did not even show up at the time of my arrival. You arrived late in the evening, only to attend to your guests, and then after the party, you retired to your room. This morning, I did not find you at the breakfast table, and if I hadn't demanded to meet you, you wouldn't have shown up," her complaining continued with a hint of disappointment in her voice.

"Mother, I have other responsibilities to look after in my pack as the king. So please tell me why you sent me a request to return to the pack a week earlier only because you were coming?!" I inquired, authority seeping into my voice.

"Zander, you know your 30th birthday is approaching," she reminded me, her tone taking a serious turn.

"Tell me something new, Mother," I scoffed, my impatience getting the better of me.

"You still don't have an heir," she scowled, her words stinging me deeply.

Not again!

I groaned as I remembered. We had discussed this more than necessary, and I was not willing to repeat it.

"Mother, we have talked about this topic many times, and my reply is still the same: it will happen when the moon goddess wants it," I said curtly, trying to convey my resolve.

"No, Zander. It will happen when you want it to happen," my mother's voice became dull and heavy, mirroring the pain in her eyes. I knew why she was so persistent. The time was slipping away, and I was helpless.

I hated to admit it, but this was the reality I could no longer ignore. I had known this truth all my life and couldn't escape it. This was my fate. My thirtieth birthday. Until now, I had resolved to face whatever fate had in store for me. "Mother, the marriage is on the cards and..." I replied, avoiding direct eye contact, but she desperately cut me in.

"Zander, we are Werewolves, for the

Goddess's sake! You don't have to get married to get your mate pregnant my mother reasoned, her voice tinged with desperation. "You know how important it is for us to save our bloodline and have a child from you before..." Her voice trailed off as she swallowed, unable to verbalize the unspoken truth about my brutal fate.

Saved

"Mother, times have changed," I explained earnestly, my voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "Blair's children can carry forward our bloodline."

My mother's expression shifted from desperation to disbelief. She scolded me, her words filled with a mix of frustration and determination.

"Why are you so stubborn, Zander? After becoming an Alpha King, do you think you have become a god who can change the rules that we have followed for generations?" Her words cut through the air, filled with the weight of tradition and duty.

My mother's eyes softened momentarily, yet the determination in her voice remained steadfast. "Only your son can carry forward our lineage and bloodline, Zander. It is our duty to preserve our heritage."

As I sighed, a deep sense of frustration welled up within me. How could I make my mother understand that in modern times, it didn't matter if the child carrying forward our bloodline was a son or a daughter? The importance lay in their connection to our lineage and their worthiness to rule rather than their gender.

"I assure you, Mother," I stated firmly, my voice brimming with conviction. "The Moonglow pack shall never be left without an Alpha under my watch."

Her gaze met mine, and I could see a glimmer of hope beginning to flicker within her eyes.

"Zander, try to understand the value of time. You have already wasted years waiting for your mate, but you couldn't find her," she grimaced. "Your last marriage also didn't succeed in giving us an heir."

I winced as I remembered how Selena had to go through miscarriages. I knew it was my fault and could never forgive myself for that. She was wolfless, and carrying Alpha's pup was very difficult for her.

"But this time, I don't care if you have to mate with ten she-wolves. I just want to see your child," Mother added, making me growl in anger.

What did she think of me: a manwhore?! Mating with many she-wolves?! Never.

"What the hell are you saying, Mother? Are you even listening to yourself?" I frowned, struggling to comprehend her request.

The idea of mating with multiple she-wolves just to secure an heir felt absurd and disgusting and went against everything I believed in.

"I know what I am doing, Zander," my mother replied, her voice tinged with sadness, mirroring the pain in her eyes. "You are our Alpha and King, but as your mother, I have the right to worry about your family and the future of our pack. I promised your father that I would never let our lineage simply vanish from this Earth."

Shaking my head, I took a deep

breath, attempting to gather my thoughts and control my anger. Lyon growled in my head after hearing my mother. He was even crueler than me and wouldn't even respect my mother if I let him take over. However, it was true that my mother's emotional torture was becoming unbearable, which was why I had avoided seeing her since her return.

"By the way, why is your ex-mate here?" my mother asked suspiciously, now her attention shifting to Selena.

The mention of Selena's presence in

the pack intrigued me, and I, too,

wanted to know why she had

โวเ

returned after many years. That night we were alone, and I had provoked her, but as strong-willed as she was, she had remained silent about her true intentions and hadn't uttered a word about the truth. But something felt off about her sudden return, and I knew I had to uncover the secret. I couldn't let her leave the pack until I knew her motives.

"Are you sure this is the sole reason you want her to stay?" Lyon's mocking voice echoed in my mind, reminding me of his taunting presence ever since that unexpected kiss. I groaned inwardly, ignoring his jeers. "I want to make sure that my pack is safe," I answered through the mind link.

"But for that, you don't have to kiss her," he snorted.

"I didn't kiss her!" I shouted through the mind link, breathing heavily. My mother's eyes widened as she watched me in horror. I took a deep breath to calm myself.

"Putting your blame on me doesn't work, mighty Alpha King," he taunted me again, and I blocked him instantly.

Otherwise, I would have said something before my mother that I would regret later. I couldn't afford to engage in a mental battle with my wolf now.

Chapter 507 The Prophecy *Zander*

"Mother, Selena is here for personal reasons, and Avery can explain it to you better, as Selena is working under her," I dismissed it furiously.

"But it is not a wise choice to keep her in this pack, knowing everything about her traitor family," my mother warned, her concern evident. "Selena has been cleared of any involvement in her family's crimes," I replied earnestly, withholding the whole truth of her actions.

I knew what she had done in the past, and I ignored it because it was not a big crime to help her family financially. She was secretly sending money to her father's pack, though they were involved in many criminal activities. But it was against the law of my pack. When I found out, I burned all evidence of her wrongdoing, not wanting her to be disgraced by her own people as she was their Luna. I did it for both my people and her.

"We didn't find any evidence linking her to the crimes. It would be unjust to act without proof," I described.

"Why are you defending her?" my mother bit out, her frustration boiling over.

"I am not defending anyone. I am simply stating the facts," I snapped back, my frustration mounting. Just as tension filled the room, there was a knock on the door, interrupting our heated conversation. "Come in, Avery," my mother instructed sweetly, and Avery entered gracefully.

"Good evening, Lady Catherine," Avery greeted my mother respectfully as a flattering smile stretched across her face.

"Hello, Avery! I was just discussing the unexpected return of Selena to our pack," my mother said, raising her chin slightly. Avery nodded, sensing the gravity of the situation.

"Zander mentioned that Selena works under you?" my mother questioned, her tone laced with suspicion. Avery appeared momentarily taken aback but quickly regained her composure.

"Yes, Lady Catherine. Selena is here to work as she needed money and we helped her," Avery explained, her voice steady.

"That's not a big deal. Zander, I believe you can pay her off and promptly remove her from the pack," my mother demanded, her eyes fixed on me.

"No!" Avery and I exclaimed simultaneously.

I had my reasons for not letting her go, but why did Avery react like this?

I turned to her, my glare demanding an explanation.

"I mean, Zander can't pay her without a job," Avery quickly clarified, "because if he does, people in the kingdom might question his intentions toward his ex-mate." Her reasoning made sense, and I nodded in agreement.

"Yes, Mother," I agreed firmly, my voice filled with determination. "I do not wish to involve myself further in Selena's life, so please refrain from pushing me towards it."

My mother's gaze shifted from Avery to me, her brow furrowing slightly.

"I don't understand, Zander. Why would you want to keep your enemies closer as you approach your 30th birthday?" My mother sighed, her words laced with a touch of resignation.

My eyes snapped toward my mother and Avery. Avery was watching me with curiosity.

I felt my blood boil as my mother continued to blabber without considering. I could see the confusion etched on Avery's face, and I couldn't blame her for being caught off guard by my mother's sudden shift in conversation. "Mother!" I growled, my voice dripping with authority and warning. The audacity of her words fueled my anger, and I refused to let her continue down this path.

Avery didn't know anything about

the prophecy No one knew, and no one should as it would cause chaos and unrest within my kingdom if the people of my kingdom knew this secretol knew I had to handle the situation carefully, ensuring that the information remained confidential until I found a solution and secured an heir to the throne. My mother cleared her throat.

"I mean, two of your enemies are under the same roof. What's going on?" my mother seemed to sense the gravity of the situation and quickly changed the topic of conversation, understanding the importance of the matter at hand. "Mother, if you are referring to the presence of the Vampire Prince, I want you to know that he is here for a peace pact between our kingdoms," I explained, my voice composed and indifferent. "As a king, it is my duty to seek peace and avoid unnecessary conflict." My mother nodded, seemingly appeased by my explanation. However, her attention quickly shifted towards Avery, her disappointment evident.

"Avery, I did not expect this from you," my mother sulked, her disappointment palpable in her tone.

Confused, Avery blinked at my mother. "What happened, Lady Catherine?" she asked, genuinely puzzled by the sudden change in my mother's demeanor.

"Have you forgotten our last conversation, Avery?" my mother replied sullenly. "I expected you to give me the good news that I would soon be a grandmother upon my return to this pack."

I rolled my eyes in frustration, shaking my head at my mother's persistent interference in my personal life.

"Mother, please stop this," I demanded firmly, my patience wearing thin. I had no intention of allowing my mother to pressure Avery into anything she wasn't ready for.

But to my surprise, Avery's cheeks flushed, and she glanced at me, her gaze filled with a mix of embarrassment and affection.

"What can I do alone, Lady Catherine?" Avery admitted, her voice carrying a hint of longing. "Zander is rarely at the pack house. He is always busy with his duties."

I honestly couldn't believe that my mother demanded an heir, and Avery was ready for it. Though she knew our marriage was solely based on producing a child, I made it clear that we would wait until the mating and marking ceremony.

"I don't want any other excuses, Zander, and it would be better if Avery gets pregnant before your marriage next month," my mother asked, her words leaving me dumbfounded.

Wait! What?!

"Mother, I am sorry to disappoint you, but you will have to wait until the marriage," I declared in my alpha voice. I felt Avery's eyes on me.

"Avery, say something," my mother insisted.

Avery stepped forward gracefully, her eyes meeting mine briefly as she smiled before addressing my mother with an air of deference.

"My lady, Zander is right," she began,

her voice steady and resolute. "If he wants us to produce an heir after entering the sacred bond of

matrimony before the moon

goddess, and he marks mebel

we mate, he must have a purpose in mind, one that serves the

betterment of our pack."

My heart swelled with gratitude for Avery's steadfast loyalty. She understood me like no one else, and her unwavering support in this crucial moment was a testament to the depth of our connection.

Realizing that further confrontation

would only escalate tensions, I

decided it was time to make my exit. With a curt nod towards my mother,

I spoke with a coldness that mirrored the sharp edge in my voice, "I will take my leave, mother, as I have more important affairs to attend to."

Chapter 508 The Prophecy *Blair*

It had been three long years since I left for my studies abroad, and now I was finally back. Turning eighteen last year should have been the start of a new chapter in my life, but I hadn't found my mate yet. I had been waiting for my whole life to turn eighteen and find my

fated mate, but it had almost been a year, and I still hadn't found him.

It was frustrating, to say the least, but I knew that good things come to those who wait. I had faith that my fated mate was out there somewhere, and I would find him when the time was right. For now, I was just happy to be back home and surrounded by my loved ones. Zander had thrown a big party because a royal guest was also joining us.

Apparently, a Vampire Prince was coming over, so everyone was pretty hyped up about it. I put on my favorite red dress and headed to the party, eager to catch up with my old pack. The night was alive with anticipation, and the air filled with a sense of excitement and electricity. As I arrived at the venue, I couldn't help but be captivated by the sight before me. The open ground was adorned with shimmering decorations and the thumping beat of the music echoed through the surroundings. Stars and moon were shining above us. It was one of the best things I missed about my pack in those years.

I looked around and a smile stretched across my lips. It was a pretty wild night, with werewolves of all ages and ranks reveling in the festivities. The dance floor was a frenzy of spinning bodies and energetic movements, while the bar was crowded with werewolves enjoying their preferred drinks. Laughter and conversation filled the air as old friends reunited and shared stories of their adventures. But amidst the cheerful chaos, there was an underlying anticipation for the arrival of the Vampire Prince.

As I mingled with the crowd,

catching up with familiar faces, I couldn't shake off the feeling of something missing. My brother's Beta, Maddox, was nowhere to be seen. In fact, I hadn't seen him since I left the pack three years ago. Something felt off because he was always present there for me at every step of my life as a protector and friend until he took a chosen mate when he didn't find his fated mate at eighteen. Maddox was much older than me and took his long-time girlfriend, Emile, as his chosen mate. But it was strange that I had not seen him here since I had returned this morning.

Suddenly, amidst the chatter and laughter, a subtle, enchanting smell caught my attention. It was a scent that seemed to possess a magnetic pull, luring me closer with its allure. It was unlike anything I had eve encountered before-a heady mixture of earthy musk and pine. Intrigued, I closed my eyes and took a few deep sniffs, allowing the fragrance to envelop me entirely.

My curiosity heightened, and I felt an irresistible urge to follow the scent. With my heart racing, I navigated through the crowd, following the invisible trail that led me toward the source of the intoxicating aroma. Each step brought me closer, intensifying the anticipation that

had taken hold of me.

The air crackled with an electric

energy, sending shivers down my spine. I could feel the gaze of those around me, but my eyes searched for only one person. At last, I

reached the end of the t

path,

and my eyes widened in surprise as I beheld the scene before me. There, standing with a broad smile on his face, was Maddox-the Beta of my brother's pack.

Blaze, my wolf, howled joyfully in my head, recognizing the unmistakable connection that bound us. Mate!

Chapter 509

Maddox was busy in a serious conversation with Zander and the Vampire Prince. Sensing my presence, Maddox's head snapped in my direction and our eyes locked. At that moment, time seemed to stand still. The realization hit me like a bolt of lightning, and I could see the same recognition mirrored in Maddox's eyes. However, before I could approach him, I watched as his smile faltered, replaced by panic and apprehension. He excused himself from the conversation he was engaged in with my brother and the Vampire Prince and quickly retreated in the opposite direction.

As Maddox disappeared into the crowd, I stood there, rooted to the spot, feeling a mixture of confusion, disappointment, and a strange longing I couldn't quite explain. It was as if a veil had been lifted, revealing a hidden connection I had never been aware of. Determined to confront Maddox and seek answers, I pushed through the crowd, my red dress swishing around me, catching the attention of some curious onlookers. But I paid no heed to their stares. My focus was solely on finding Maddox, no matter how difficult it seemed.

I scanned the surroundings, searching for Maddox's familiar face, and my heart skipped a beat when our eyes finally met. There was a flicker of something in his gaze, a mixture of longing and regret. Without saying a word, he silently motioned me to follow him. Curiosity piqued, I moved toward him, weaving through the crowd until we found ourselves hidden away in a dark corner.

"Maddox, so you know about it?!" I asked, my voice barely a whisper but filled with mixed emotions and hurt. He always knew it and still hid from me.

He hesitated for a moment before speaking, his voice low and laced with a hint of sadness. "Blair, you need to reject me. Accept my rejection and move on."

Confusion swirled within me, battling against the excitement that had built up at the possibility of finally finding my fated mate. A fated mate was supposed to be a blessing from the Moon Goddess herself. Why would Maddox ask me to reject him?

"But... why?" I managed to utter, my voice trembling with emotion.

Maddox sighed, his gaze fixed on anything but me.

"I've known it since I turned eighteen, Blair. I knew you were my fated mate. But I couldn't accept it. I didn't want a child as my mate, not when I was in love with someone else," he confessed.

His words struck me like a lightning bolt, and pain ripped through my heart. Maddox had waited for me to turn eighteen, so we could both reject each other and go our separate ways. He had taken Emile as his chosen mate, leaving me to suffer the consequences of his decision. Hurt and anger surged within me, fueling a fire I had never known before. I couldn't believe Maddox chose another she-wolf over his fated mate. They said mates couldn't resist each other. So how could he be so cruel to me?

I locked eyes with Maddox, my voice steady and filled with newfound resolve. "No, Maddox. You can not decide for both of us. You should have come to me and talked to me, but you chose to be with a mate and let me live in anticipation. I have been waiting for you all my life, and I am not going to reject you."

"Blair, this is madness. You know we are not made for each other," he glared at me.

"So why did the Moon Goddess pair us as mates?" I challenged.

"It was a mistake," he spat out.

"Mistake?!" I snickered. "Beta Maddox, the mistake has been made, and I won't suffer alone," I announced.

And with those words hanging in the air, the spark of a fierce battle between two destined souls ignited, forever altering the course of our lives.

Someone called Maddox's name, and he left, shaking his head. I watched as Emile hugged him and led him to the dance floor. The tears brimmed in my eyes as I saw him holding her in his arms and peering into her eyes with love. Still feeling confused and in pain, I couldn't stay at the party. So I made an excuse about being tired from my long journey and went up to my room. I tried to sleep, but the sleep was far away from my eyes.

****

The next morning, as I sat at the breakfast table, Maddox appeared before me. His voice carried a touch of tease as he greeted me, "Good morning, kiddo."

I couldn't help but smirk at his choice of words.

"I am not a kid, Beta Maddox," I retorted playfully. "I'm nineteen now, fully grown up."

Maddox averted his eyes, a hint of tension in his features. "For me, you're still a kid," he gritted out. "Ten years younger."

I leaned back in my chair, challenging his perception.

"Then you need an eye checkup because a man with good eyes can see how well I've grown up, how mature I am, and how ready I am for my mate to claim me," I taunted him, a mischievous glint in my eyes.

Just then, Emile approached and gracefully settled herself onto his lap. They shared an intimate kiss, and my heart stung with a mix of jealousy and pain. I had witnessed their affection since my childhood, but after discovering that Maddox was my destined mate, watching him with another woman became unbearable. Maddox abruptly got up from his seat, his actions betraying his discomfort. Emile frowned, looking concerned.

"What's wrong? Aren't you going to have breakfast?" she asked.

Maddox's reply came without hesitation, a clear attempt to distance himself from me.

"No, I'm running late for the training session. I'll grab something on my way," he replied curtly before swiftly leaving the room.

I knew he was deliberately avoiding me, trying to create distance between us. The ache in my chest grew, threatening to consume me.

As I sat there, lost in my thoughts, I found Selena's eyes on me before she gazed at Maddox retreating from the room. Suspicion appeared in her eyes and I had to look away Selena and I had always shared a very close relationship. She was always there for me as my sister. Even when she and my brother were no longer together, I still considered her my friend and sister. So, I was afraid I owed her some explanation.

*****

There was a knock on the door, and when I opened it, I found Selena standing there. Her eyes were intense, looking deeply and searching my eyes. I walked back to bed and felt her following me after closing the door. Selena sat beside me on the bed, her gaze filled with compassion.

"Blair, what's going on between you and Maddox?" she asked, her voice gentle yet persistent.

I sighed, feeling the weight of my emotions pressing down on me.

"There's nothing going on between us, Selena. He's just a Beta of the Moonglow Pack and my brother's best friend," I replied, trying to dismiss her concerns with a shrug.

Selena raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced.

"I know you too well, Blair. I can sense that there's something more to this. Talk to me, Blair. What's bothering you?" She noticed the change in me.

I huffed, feeling the walls closing in.

"You're thinking too much, Selena. There's really nothing to tell," I retorted, attempting to push away her prying questions.

She wasn't one to give up easily. Selena moved closer, her gaze penetrating.

"Blair, I know when you're hiding something. You can't lie to me. Tell me what you're keeping from everyone," she insisted.

Frustration mingled with vulnerability, and I couldn't hold back any longer.

"Fine," I relented, my voice barely above a whisper. "I turned eighteen, and I still haven't found my mate."

Selena's eyes widened in realization, and sympathy crossed her features. "Oh, Blair. It must sting to have to wait even longer for your fated mate."

I nodded, my throat tight with unshed tears.

"Maddox... he's my mate," I confessed, the words heavy with the weight of my emotions.

Selena gasped, her hand flying to cover her mouth in shock.

"But he already has a mate," she whispered, her voice filled with disbelief. I nodded.

"I found it last night," I added.

"And?!" her eyes widened as she asked in anticipation.

A surge of anger coursed through me as I remembered the last night incidents.

"He said he would reject me, but I refused to accept his rejection," I spat out, my voice laced with defiance.

Selena's eyes widened further, a mix of concern and confusion swirling within them.

"But Blair, why didn't you accept it? Maybe it's for the best. Maybe you can find another mate, someone who will truly cherish you."

The tears streamed down my face, my voice trembling with pain and frustration.

"Selena, you don't understand. I've been waiting for my fated mate my entire life. And all those years, Maddox knew I was his mate, yet he never told me. I had this

unexplainable attraction towards him, this crush that I couldn't understand. But now I know why... because he's my mate," poured out, my voice filled with a mixture of sadness and anger.

"It hurts, Selena. It hurts that he let me live in false hope, avoiding me since I turned eighteen, only to reject me like this. No, I can't forgive him," I declared, my voice shaking with the weight of my shattered dreams. Selena listened intently, her hands on my shoulder and gently caressing my arms.

"But what about Emile?" she asked, her tone cautious.

I sighed, feeling overwhelmed by the complexity of the situation. "I don't know, Selena, Right now, I'm in a big mess, and still need to figure out

how to accept this devastating t

news it's tearing me apart," I confessed, closing my eyes as the weight of my emotions threatened to consume me. But one thing was sure, I would let Beta Maddox taste his own medicine.

Chapter 510

Blair looked exhausted, her shoulders slumped, and her eyes were wet and sad. I knew she had been going through a tough time.

"Blair, you know, you can always count on me. Talk to me whenever you want," I suggested, reaching out to gently place a hand on her arm. I wanted her to know that I was there for her, ready to listen whenever she needed to vent her pain.

"Thank you, Selena," Blair sighed, looking at me softly. "Please don't tell anyone about it. Especially not Zander. I..." She hesitated as if struggling to find the right words. "I don't want anyone to feel pity on me."

Liar!

I knew she was trying to save Maddox from trouble. Zander was very protective of his baby sister.

However, I gave her a knowing smile and raised a finger to my lips, gesturing to zip them shut. It was not my place to tell her brother about her secret.

"But you have to help me in return," I shrugged, lifting a brow while giving her a sly smile.

Blair looked at me, amused and curious.

"What?" she huffed out a laugh, her interest piqued.

I couldn't help but smile, thinking about my plan.

"Blair, actually, when I left the pack house, I forgot to take my ring from Zander. He still has it and now I want it back. But I know if I ask him, he will never give it to me," I explained, pausing to gauge her reaction. She watched me with genuine interest, waiting for me to continue. "So I was thinking of taking it myself from his room."

Blair's eyebrows rose in surprise.

"So, you want me to help you enter his room?" she asked, her voice filled with intrigue.

I shook my head.

"No, I can enter," I assured her and she cast a slanted gaze at me, smirking. I shrugged. "But you have to be my lookout. Make sure Zander or anyone else doesn't enter the room while I'm inside. You have to hold them outside the room. Will you do this for me?" I asked, biting my lip nervously.

Blair's eyes sparkled mischievously as a grin spread across her face.

"Yes, Selena, we've done it before, and we can do it again," she replied, winking at me.

I knew it. She was my partner in crime, always up for an adventure.

*******

"Go inside, Selena, and come soon," Blair suggested, her voice filled with urgency and concern.

She had no idea of my true intentions - searching for the key to the security room. I couldn't reveal my real motive to her. Though I felt guilty about using her for my purpose, I had to do it.

I nodded, exhaling sharply.

I had never been away from Austin for so long. I had to do this job as soon as possible and leave this place. Time was of the essence.

I took a deep breath and entered

Zander's room. The room was impeccably neat, just as I

เวน

remembered it. Zander had always been particular about keeping

everything in its place, and nothing was to be moved without his-

permission. I began my search, I checking every possible hiding spot for the key. The seconds ticked by, and my sense of urgency grew. I needed to find it before Zander returned to his room.

Suddenly, a voice sent shivers down my spine, freezing me in place.

"Why are you standing here, Blair?" Zander's deep and authoritative voice resonated through the door. Panic surged within me. Oh, Goddess, he was back!

"Come on, Brother! Can I not come

here to see my brother when he

doesn't have time to talk to his only

sister?" Blair's voice rang out,

attempting to divert Zander's

attention and keep him from

entering the room.

I frantically scanned the room, my eyes darting from one place to another, desperately seeking a clue as to where the key might be hidden. Time seemed to stretch endlessly.

"Why are you waiting outside my room if you want to see me? You should have come to my office," Zander questioned suspiciously, his tone tinged with skepticism.

"I... came to see you here and umm... found your room closed, so... I thought you would be returning. I... I decided to wait for you," Blair stammered, her words stumbling over one another. Oh shit! Zander would sense that something was amiss.

Time seemed to slip through my

fingers, but then I saw it. The key sat beside his study table, its unique design distinguishing it as the

security key. Without hesitation net

snatched it up and concealed.it under my clothes. I couldn't believe it had been lying there so carelessly, overlooked. Perhaps Zander was overconfident about the security of his room.

After all, who would dare risk their lives by stealing from the Alpha King?

"Get away from my way, Blair," Zander growled, his impatience evident in his voice.

"No, brother, stop! Why are you avoiding me? Stop, wait, talk to me," Blair pleaded, attempting to stall him.

But it was too late. The door swung open, and I spun around, my heart pounding in my chest, when I came face to face with the devil himself.

"Selena Ardolf! What are you doing in my room?" Zander's voice boomed with accusation, his gaze piercing like that of a predator watching its prey.

He locked the door behind him, trapping me inside.

What the hell?!

"Alpha, I came here to clean your room. Now, my work is done, and I am leaving," I replied, bowing slightly, keeping my eyes lower, and attempting to sound casual, not nervous.

I moved to get past him, but he blocked my path, his intense blue eyes drilling into me.

"As long as I remember, this is not the cleaning time. So tell me honestly, why are you here?" Zander questioned, his voice laced with danger.

Goddess, his gaze was so penetrating, as if he could see through my very soul.
