Ch. 591..600
Chapter 591
My Mate
Suddenly, the air crackled with energy, and two divine figures appeared before me. The first was the High Priestess-my mother-and the other, the sacred appearance of the Moon Goddess herself.
"Selena, you can't be serious about threatening me, can you?" the Moon Goddess teased lightly, her voice carrying an air of amusement. But her casual demeanor only fueled my fury. "How can you be so indifferent while I am in so much pain?" I challenged, my voice trembling with emotion.
"But you chose this path. What more can I do?" she replied with a shrug, her tone frustratingly calm.
"Moon Goddess, I love Alpha Zander, and you expect me to accept his death with happiness. Are you truly this heartless?" I scowled, tears streaming down my cheeks uncontrollably.
"I thought you would bring Zander back. He is innocent and has nothing to do with this battle," I pleaded desperately, my voice cracking with sorrow.
"He had to die according to the prophecy, Selena. Neither you nor I can change that," the Moon Goddess reasoned, her voice gentle yet firm. But her words fell on deaf ears as my heart refused to accept any logic tied to fate or prophecy. Nothing could justify taking Zander away from me. I was prepared to fight against destiny itself.
"But bringing him back is within your power, Moon Goddess," I challenged fiercely, desperation and determination blending in my voice. "I know you can do it. Please, bring him back to life."
"Why would I do that? If I begin to change destiny, the equilibrium of this universe will be disrupted," the Moon Goddess replied with serene calmness, her smile a contrast to the turmoil in my heart.
"Can't you do it for your descendant? What's the point of being powerful if you can't fulfill the wishes of your devotees?" I challenged, my desperation mounting in the hope that she would grant me the miracle of bringing Zander back to life.
The Moon Goddess remained composed, her expression unwavering. "Everything has a price, dear Selena," she said softly, her voice carrying the weight of cosmic wisdom.
"I will pay any price. Just tell me what I need to do," I pleaded desperately, my voice trembling with raw emotion. The thought of losing Zander forever was unbearable, and I was willing to sacrifice anything-even my own life-to bring him back. "You have to sacrifice one thing that is very significant to you," the moon goddess proposed.
I had no clue what else could be more important in my life than Zander. I had loved him my whole life, and he was the only family I ever had. Nothing was more important than Zander, the man I loved, but he died and I needed him to come back to me. What else could I sacrifice? "I am ready to sacrifice my mate bond," I said without thinking.
That was the only thing more valuable in my life, but without Zander, I didn't want a mate bond with anyone else. I never wanted anyone else but Zander, mate or not; he was the only one for me.
"Please, moon goddess, return my Zander to me. Give him his life back," I pleaded, tears streaming uncontrollably down my face. It seemed as if the earth would flood with the tsunami of my tears, but I didn't care about anything else. Only the alpha king could stop me from drowning the earth in my sorrow, and for that, he had to return. He had to be alive again.
"Think about it again, Selena. Don't make a decision on impulse. If you sacrifice you mate bond, you can never feel it again, and you can never find another mate," the moon goddess suggested. But I was so irritated by her advice. How could she think I would want another man but Zander? Was she testing me? If so, she would be disappointed because I was going to choose Zander over everything, always and forever.
"I want my Zander back, and it's my only wish," I declared, determined.
"Your wish is granted!" the moon goddess smiled.
I looked down at Zander's pale face in my lap and held his cold hand tightly.
"Come back to me," I whispered, tears dropping onto his cheeks. Suddenly, I felt something burning inside me, scorching my soul. The pain was so intense that a sky-piercing scream escaped me, leaving me breathless. I waited for the pain to subside, panting and trying to catch my breath.
Then, unexpectedly, a warmth arose inside me. The air filled with a new, pleasant aroma, and I felt a surge of energy and life spreading through my body. It was as if a part of me that had been dormant was now awakening with renewed vigor and purpose. "Selena!" I heard the most enchanting voice, and I opened my eyes to find Zander's bright gaze looking back at me. His body was warm, his soul alive, and then I felt that sacred connection bonding us.
"Mate!" The unexpected word escaped my lips, leaving me dumbfounded.
"My mate!" Zander growled, his voice echoing through the surroundings.
Zander's eyes mirrored the shock in mine as I turned to the moon goddess.
"The curse is broken, and the mate bond is revived," she explained.
"I still don't understand," I murmured, looking at Zander, who nodded, furrowing in confusion.
"The Warlock King Zephyr had the Warlock God put a curse on Alpha Alexander and Arabella's mate bond," the moon goddess described, causing my eyes to widen with realization.
We had all heard about the first fated mates in werewolf history-Alpha Alexander and Arabella. Their disappearance remained a mystery, but it had never clicked in my mind when Damon used to call me Arabella. It seemed an impossible guess. "But when you sacrificed your mate bond, it broke the curse and rebuilt the mate bond, reuniting you two as the ancient fated mates of centuries," she announced.
I looked at Zander, seeing love and
joy brimming in his eyes. I couldn't believe he was destined to be mine from the beginning of this universe, and I was his always and forever only his. After so many centuries of separation, we could finally feel our mate bond. In that moment, if I died from happiness, I wouldn't regret it.
"My mate!" Zander declared, looking at me with so much love as he gently pulled my face towards him, and pressed his lips against mine. In that kiss, he poured centuries of unfulfilled desire and love, and
wanted nothing more than tolose myself in his embrace, to be
absorbed into his body, and never be
separated from him again.
Chapter 592
Forever Together
The tears poured down from my eyes as we kissed. I whimpered against my mate's lips, overwhelmed by a rush of emotions. I was happy, yet the disbelief lingered-I had almost lost him.
It was true that we never truly valued our loved ones until we almost lost them. I had experienced both hell and heaven in those few moments when my mate lay lifeless on my lap, and then he breathed again. I knew better after almost losing him what he was to me, and I would never ignore him over anything. He was everything I needed to live, breathe, and feel alive.
"Why are you crying, my mate?" Zander's brow furrowed in concern as he gently took my face in his large hand. His touch was tender, and his eyes searched mine with a depth of love and worry. I shook my head, trying to smile through my tears, but the emotions choked me, leaving me speechless.
I gazed at his beautiful face, the one I had feared I might never see again, and took a deep breath before finding my voice.
Tears streamed down my face as I tried to speak through my sobs. "I was so scared when... when you..." My voice broke, and I couldn't finish, the crying turning harder, punctuated by hiccups. "I thought I had lost you forever. In that moment, everything became so clear. You are my everything."
Zander's grip on my face tightened slightly as he leaned in, his eyes peering deep into mine. "I'm here, baby, and I'm not going anywhere," he murmured, his breath warm against my skin. "You are my life, my heart. Without you, I am nothing."
I closed my eyes, letting his words wash over me. The fear, the pain, and the relief all mixed into a potent cocktail of emotions.
"Promise me," I said, my voice barely audible. "Promise me you'll never leave."
He pecked my lips so tenderly before he whispered, "I promise. No matter what happens, I will always come back to you."
Suddenly as if he realized something his expression shifted, a frown creasing his forehead and he seemed lost in deep thought. "But there's something I don't understand," he said slowly, confusion lacing his voice. "I was cursed and couldn't have a mate. So how can I feel it now? Lyon and I both recognized you as my mate, my Luna?" His eyes searched mine, puzzled and yearning for answers.
My mother, the high priestess, stepped forward before I could reply to him.
"Alpha king, when you died, Selena sacrificed her mate bond to bring you back. The curse given by a deity can only be broken by a divine sacrifice. No other power could have freed your mate bond from the curse the warlock god had put on you," she explained, her voice steady and soothing.
I looked up at Zander, seeing the shock and realization dawn in his eyes.
"You brought me back, mate!" he exclaimed, his eyes now brimming with love and appreciation as they gazed upon me.
"How could I have let you leave me alone here, my alpha?" I said, my voice lighter now. I punched his chest playfully, a small smile breaking through my tears.
He chuckled softly, the sound a balm to my aching heart. "You are my strength, my Luna," he whispered, pressing his forehead against mine.
"So now you believe me that Damon is not your mate?!" Zander said sullenly, his voice a low rumble that echoed through the room.
I rolled my eyes at my alpha mate. Here we were, discussing matters of grave importance, but all he cared about was proving himself right.
"Yes, and I'm sorry. I didn't trust you," I whispered, knowing my admission would inflate his already mountainous ego even more.
A triumphant gleam sparkled in his eyes.
"I found you back, my mate, and now
I won't let you go away ever again, no matter what the circumstances." His large hand cupped my face, his touch warm and possessive. He stared at me with such intensity, his eye's never leaving mine, as if I would disappear if he blinked.
"No more running away and no more misunderstanding, Zander. I have found you, my mate, and have waited for this moment for
centuries," I murmured, feeling net
flood of emotions overwhelm me. Without hesitation, I threw myself into his strong arms, finding solace in his embrace.
His wounds had healed completely, and he looked fit and fine, a powerful figure of the Alpha king of the werewolves.
His mood shifted swiftly, and a growl of anger escaped his lips. "I won't leave Damon," Zander declared. "He has to pay for what he did to us in the past and in this life."
I could feel the weight of his words and the depth of his rage as the desire for revenge flowed through my veins as well.
'Yes, Zander, we will deal with him,' I agreed, a steely resolve hardening within me.
Just then, we heard the commotion and the loud thumping of footsteps-a hundred footsteps. Despite the noise, Arena didn't feel danger. The pack warriors, led by Maddox and Blair, emerged from the forest.
I glanced back at Mother and the
Moon Goddess, but they had
vanished, I hadn't realized when they
departed before the others could
he
see them. Being a goddess wasn't easy, and I understood very well why
I had been chosen to bear some of her responsibilities as her descendant.
"Zander, Selena!" Maddox's voice rang out, laden with concern. "I'm sorry I tried to come as soon as possible," he said, his worried eyes scanning us. "Are you okay?" "Yes, Maddox, we're fine. Everything is under control," I assured him.
"Zander, the seer said you..." Blair's voice broke as she sobbed. "I was so scared about the prophecy. It's your 30th birthday in a few days," she choked on her tears.
"The tragedy was averted as the prophecy was fulfilled, and now Zander is invincible. No one can harm him," I announced, smiling and looking at my mate with pride.
"That's true, Luna. No harm can come to him when you are with him," a voice said softly. The seer had appeared, her presence serene under the moonlight streaming through the roof of the ancient temple.
Chapter 593
Peace And Harmony "You... I remember you," my eyes sparkled with recognition as I took in the seer's serene smile.
"Yes, Luna. It is me again," the seer replied, her voice calm and knowing. "I told you that your belief would lead you out of this dark fog and reveal the truth. And you truly have changed fate because you believed in your love."
Her words seemed to weave a spell around us, and in that moment, memories of our first meeting came rushing back to me. I was struck by how deeply meaningful her words had been. Everything she said was true. Though every sign had pointed me toward Damon, my unwavering belief in my love for Zander had broken the curse and led me to my true mate. Fate was altered by the power of belief. I was awestruck by the realization that such a small word held such immense power, capable of averting the inevitable.
"Thank you for warning me and for your loyalty to the pack. The Moonglow pack will always be indebted to you for your loyal services," I said, my voice filled with gratitude and respect.
Zander wrapped an arm around my shoulders.
"That's true, Alethea. We are grateful to you," he affirmed. Then, turning to his warriors and Maddox, he added, "I am grateful to each and every one of you, my warriors and pack members, for your loyalty to the Moonglow pack."
His words were sincere, echoing through the atmosphere with a profound sense of unity and gratitude.
My heart bloomed with pride for my alpha mate. He was born to be a king who thought about everyone.
"We need to attack Damon's castle and take him into custody before he runs away," I muttered with anger and hate as these two emotions overtook every other feeling in my heart.
"He won't be there. As I know that coward, he must have already escaped. But we will take his kingdom under the council's control and free it from his rulership. The council will choose a new king," Zander announced thoughtfully. I watched in awe at my mate. He was so kind and considerate, even thinking about the citizens of his enemy's kingdom.
"Maddox, inform the council immediately. We're taking over the castle. Let the citizens of the vampire kingdom know that their king has fled," Zander declared with authority.
Maddox nodded, quickly pulling out his phone to make the necessary calls.
"We all need to head toward the castle," Zander instructed, his voice calm but firm. We hurried towards the vampire stronghold.
When we arrived, the atmosphere was charged with panic. Commanders and ministers of the vampire king were visibly anxious, their eyes darting around in fear. Zander wasted no time.
"Secure the area and place everyone under arrest until further notice. Search the entire castle and the kingdom," he ordered. But as Zander had predicted earlier, there was no trace of Damon. The coward had fled.
As news of the king's fall spread, citizens began gathering around the castle. The panic among the vampires, witches, and warlocks was palpable. Zander stepped forward, his presence commanding attention. "Citizens of the vampire kingdom," he began, his voice carrying a mix of strength and compassion, "your king has abandoned you. But fear not, we are here to restore order. You will not be harmed. We seek only peace and justice." The crowd murmured, uncertainty etched on their faces. Yet, Zander's demeanor seemed to instill a sense of calm. Unlike other shifter leaders who might have massacred the entire kingdom in a show of power, Zander chose mercy.
My mate never ceases to amaze
me. Everything about him screams that he was destined to lead the shifters, to rule not only werewolves but every kind of shifter. They couldn't find a better ruler than him. It wasn't just his power that made him a great leader; it was his heart. And that made all the difference.
The crowd buzzed with a mix of apprehension and curiosity as I spotted Harper. Her gaze was fixed on me, a silent accusation that I was to blame for the fall of the vampire kingdom wanted to reach out to her, and explain everything, but before I could make a move, she vanished into the sea of people. Désperately, I searched for her, but she was nowhere to be seen. The Moonglow pack warriors stopped me from leaving the safety zone, wary of the crowd's anxious and fearful state.
Moments later, the council sent two representatives to oversee our
actions. No shifter could take
control of a community without their permission. This was crucial to maintain harmony among the
shifters and the broader paranormal community. Without such
regulation, endless wars for power
and land would ensue.
As we proceeded with the formalities, one of Damon's former ministers stepped forward, ready to present the paperwork and introduce the court's key members. Zander instructed the scribe to take notes and summon everyone. Our goal was clear: ensure peace and stability in the kingdom.
Suddenly, the doors burst open, and a figure stormed in. His presence emanated a dark, mystical aura. There was no doubt he was a vampire.
"Wait a minute," the vampire interrupted, dressed in a blue robe with a black cloak. "What's going on here?"
"Who are you, and how did you get in here? The castle is locked down by the council," Zander growled, glaring at the intruder with a warning.
"I am Jasper Shadowborne, the son of the late vampire king Silas Shadowborne from his second wife," the man declared, his voice resonating with authority.
Chapter 594
The New King
"Silas Shadowborne's son?!" Zander's eyes narrowed into piercing slits as he appraised Jasper. "And you expect us to believe you when your name has never crossed my ears?"
Jasper's voice was tinged with bitterness as he explained, "Damon manipulated our father, forcing my mother and me into exile from the kingdom. I was prepared to return when I learned of Father's death and Damon's treachery, but my mother insisted it was Father's dying wish for Damon to rule. When I heard of Uncle's murder and Damon's flight, I returned to confront whoever was plunging my land into chaos." His gaze swept over us, a glint of disdain flickering in his eyes.
"We aren't causing chaos; we liberated your land from the clutches of your half-brother Damon. Now, we're striving to restore peace and unity after your king fled in defeat," I interjected, sensing the tension escalating.
"We don't need your interference, especially not from wolves who deceived and killed my father!" Jasper's voice thundered, causing Zander to step forward protectively, positioning himself between the vampire prince and me.
"Stay the fuck away from my mate!" Zander's voice echoed through the room, a low, dangerous growl rumbling from his chest. His eyes blazed with protective fury as he stood tall, his presence commanding and fierce.
I placed a steadying hand on Zander's shoulder, feeling the tension radiating from him like a storm about to break.
"Listen, Jasper," I urged, my voice firm yet calm, "we need to talk calmly. Anger won't get us anywhere but into more trouble."
Jasper's gaze locked with mine for a long, tense moment before he finally released a sharp breath, his jaw tightening in reluctant agreement. "Fine."
I gestured to Maddox to escort Jasper to the conference room, ensuring he was comfortable while Zander and I delved into the details to verify Jasper's claims.
Althea and Blair had been safely escorted back to the Moonglow Pack by warriors, while Austin, left alone, seemed agitated. Blair's presence was essential to soothe him until my return. Despite his grandmother's presence, Austin's crankiness was evident after several days of separation from me.
"Yes, Alpha. Everything he said was true. The late vampire king Silas had two wives, and the second wife had to flee with her son because of Damon's cunning plots against them," Ethan, Zander's gamma, reported, his voice heavy with the gravity of his findings after investigating with the members of the royal vampire court.
I glanced at Zander and saw the wheels of his mind turning, deep in thought. I motioned for Ethan to leave us, giving us privacy. As the door closed behind Ethan, I stepped closer to my mate, watching his broad forehead furrow with stress.
"What's going on in your head?" I asked eagerly, searching Zander's face for clues.
Zander turned to face me completely. His eyes were sharp and contemplative as they landed on me.
"If he is Silas' son and a victim of Damon and Silas' cruel injustice, we can turn him to our favor," he spoke with a strategic gleam in his eye.
"Yes, after all, the enemy's enemy is a friend," I muttered, nodding in agreement. "However, we also need someone who can take the throne of the Vampire Kingdom, and Jasper could be the suitable candidate," I mused, the gears of our plan beginning to align. "You're right. I saw that fire to protect his people in his eyes. He can be a great ruler. And if he remains on good terms with the werewolves, we can sign the peace pact with them, provided we find him trustworthy enough not to meddle with the rules," Zander agreed, his voice filled with conviction.
"Please, Alpha, let's do it and settle everything here. I need to return home to my son," I pleaded desperately, my heart aching with the need to be reunited with Austin.
"As you wish, my Luna," Zander said, smiling warmly as he cupped my cheek in his large palm and leaned down to kiss me. I breathed in his intoxicating scent, the touch of his lips a soothing balm that revived my soul, my heart, and me completely. When he broke the kiss, I was breathless and wanting more, the intensity of our connection leaving me yearning.
"Let's do this and go back home. I can't wait to be alone with you," he murmured, looking deeply into my eyes as his fingers caressed the side of my face.
I nodded, grinning, and we went to find Jasper, our determination renewed.
Zander approached Jasper, who sat at the end of the conference table, his posture rigid and guarded. Zander's expression was a blend of authority and resolve as he took a seat at the other end, the distance between them symbolic of the tension in the room.
"Jasper," Zander began, his voice
steady and clear, "we need to
discuss the terms and conditions of
our agreement. We will accept you as the new king and hand you over the throne. But as the new vampire king, your support is crucial in return. However, we will support you in every possible way and offer you a place on the Paranormal Council, which will grant advanced benefits to your land and your people."
Jasper listened intently, his eyes narrowing as he considered
Zander's words. There was a
palpable tension in the room, a silent battle of wills as the two leaders
on
sized each other up. Zander continued, "We expect your full cooperation and loyalty. This is not just an alliance but a bond that will shape the future of our worlds."
To our surprise, Jasper nodded slowly, a flicker of understanding crossing his face. "I agree to your terms, Alpha Zander," he said calmly. "The prosperity and safety of my people come first, and this alliance will ensure that."
A sense of relief washed over me as Zander extended his hand to Jasper. The two leaders clasped hands, a show of mutual respect and newfound unity. There was an undeniable match of energy between them, a shared determination that promised great things for both kingdoms.
Everything happened in a blur. We
declared Jasper the new king, and
his people, for the most part, accepted him wholeheartedly. A few seemed reluctant, their faces etched with uncertainty, but they had no choice but to accept him. Otherwise, my ruthless Alpha king would have thrown them in the dungeon and had Jasper tortured them to death.
The coronation was a grand affair, filled with solemn vows and resounding cheers. It was then that we met Barbara Shadowborne, the second wife of Silas and the mother of Jasper. Her presence was commanding, a royal vampire with an air of elegance and strength. Everything went remarkably well, and Zander managed to arrange everything in such a short time. The way he worked flawlessly and seamlessly left me in awe of my alpha mate. He was perfect in every way, and I was the lucky one to have him as my fated mate. Finally, Jasper and Zander signed the papers of mutual compromise, which Zander had prepared himself. The conditions were designed for the betterment of all shifters and the entire paranormal community. Jasper agreed to these terms, proving himself to be a good vampire, different from his evil half-brother and father.
With the kingdom and throne now handed to Jasper, we left the vampire kingdom with our warriors. The anticipation was intense; I couldn't wait to be back in my pack again. It had been quite a long time, and my heart yearned for home and my son.
Chapter 595
The Dark Alpha *Anonymous
POV*
"I need to see the Dark Alpha immediately," Damon demanded, his voice cold and urgent as he faced the guards outside the Dark Alpha's castle.
The Dark Alpha was infamous among the shifters, feared as the most malevolent creature. His pack consisted of rogue wolves, trained to be merciless and heartless. The Dark Alpha sought power above all else and delighted in inflicting slow, agonizing deaths on his enemies, savoring their pleas for mercy.
"Wait here. We need to ask the Alpha whether he wants to see you," one of the guards growled, his eyes narrowing as he scrutinized Damon from head to toe. Damon grimaced at the appearance of the guards. The guards were filthy and disheveled, a reflection of the brutal environment they thrived in.
Damon's lips curled into a sinister grin. "He'll be very pleased to hear what I have to say," he said confidently, his tone dripping with malice.
The guard's eyes flickered with suspicion but he turned and disappeared into the shadows of the castle. Damon stood there, his mind racing with the information and sinister planning he had in his mind. He wanted revenge and he knew only the Dark Alpha could help him. After what felt like an eternity, the guard returned, his expression unreadable. "The Dark Alpha will see you now," he said, motioning for Damon to follow.
Damon's wicked grin widened as he stepped into the castle. He relished the thought of the chaos it would unleash, the pain it would cause. The Dark Alpha's lair was as foreboding as its master, filled with the palpable tension of impending violence.
As Damon entered the throne room, he felt the oppressive presence of the Dark Alpha, who sat in shadow, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of curiosity and menace. "Speak," the Alpha commanded, his voice a low, menacing growl.
Damon took a deep breath, his grin never wavering. "I bring news that will change everything," he said, his voice steady and filled with dark promise.
The Dark Alpha leaned forward, intrigued. "Then speak quickly, vampire. I have little patience for games."
Damon straightened, his pride evident. "Have you forgotten I am the Vampire King?" he declared, his voice rising smugly.
The Dark Alpha laughed coldly. "The Vampire King? You?" He laughed mockingly again, louder this time, making Damon clench his teeth in fury.
"Did you not hear the current news?" the Dark Alpha announced bitterly. "The news you brought is old. The new news is that the vampire kingdom has a new king." He paused to watch Damon's face, now twisted with frustration and disbelief. "And that's your half-brother, Jasper Shadowborne." he declared with a taunting smile.
"What are you talking about?" Damon growled, his golden trident glowing with his rage.
"Ah!" the Dark Alpha sighed playfully, sprawling over his throne. "The news has spread like wildfire that the Alpha King defeated you, and you escaped from the battlefield like a coward."
"Shut up!" Damon roared, to which the Dark Alpha growled, and his guards appeared immediately, ready to take Damon into custody. But the Dark Alpha waved them off.
"This attitude won't work here. You are not a king anymore, and you need my help. That's why you're here," the Dark Alpha uttered with venom. "So spill out instantly what you have to offer me, or you will be the next meal for my wolf army."
Damon's eyes blazed with rage, but he knew he had no choice. "Fine," he spat, struggling to keep his voice steady. "I have information on something you have been looking for for years. Information only I possess."
The Dark Alpha leaned forward, his eyes gleaming with interest. "Now you're speaking my language. Continue."
"The ancient wolf has appeared," Damon announced, his voice echoing through the vast expanse of the throne room.
"What?" The Dark Alpha snapped
fiercely. "If this information is false,
you will pay dearly for it. I don't forgive cheaters and liars," the Dark
Alphamarrowed his eyes,
الام
threatening the cunning vampire dangerously.
"Says who?" Damon snorted, knowing the truth about the Dark Alpha, who would go to any extent for power and wouldn't think twice before lying and betraying even his own people.
"Don't provoke me, vampire," the Dark Alpha growled, his dark aura intensifying and making Damon choke with disgust.
"Listen, I don't need you to get my
empire back. I can do it on my own," Damon announced with confidence, making the Dark Alpha snort mockingly in response. "But my powers have failed against the ancient wolf. She possesses the divine power of the Moon Goddess, and even all the power in the world can't defeat her. So we need a plan to weaken her and find a way to control her," Damon explained.
The Dark Alpha leaned back, his interest piqued. "And what exactly is your plan, Damon?" "You wouldn't have to ask if you knew who she was," Damon said, his eyes gleaming with malice. "Who is she?" the Dark Alpha asked, his curiosity intense.
"Selena Ardolf!" Damon announced loudly, and the Dark Alpha's eyes widened with surprise and joy.
"I knew it. I knew it. I always had an instinct that she had something unique about her. So, she is the one who cares the ancient wolf and her power "the Dark Alpha chuckled, his eyes glowing menacingly. "Such
great news. You've made me happy today, vampire."
"Yes, she is the one. And I have to settle my old score with her," Damon said, gritting his teeth with hatred. He had loved her for centuries, but now he was done waiting. Knowing she couldn't be his, he wanted revenge. The Dark Alpha's smile grew even more sinister. "This just gets better and better. So, how do you plan to bring her down? She won't be easy to overpower now."
Damon's eyes darkened with determination. "I know her weakness, and I'll use it against her."
The Dark Alpha nodded, looking impressed with Damon's idea.
"So, are we in this together?" Damon asked the Dark Alpha.
"As long as I get the power, I am in," the Dark Alpha smirked, a dangerous plan forming in his mind.
"Then it's a deal," Damon grinned, his eyes gleaming with filthy pleasure.
"Deal," the Dark Alpha nodded smugly.
Chapter 596
"Zander, I've prepared your tuxedo for the wedding. Please be ready on time; otherwise, Blair will be very upset," I whispered to my mate and husband as he covered the speaker with his hand during a phone call.
Today marked Blair and Maddox's wedding, followed by their official mating and marking ceremony. We couldn't manage a formal wedding earlier because so much was going on in our lives and pack, but now everything was settled, and I had planned a lavish week-long celebration for them. Today was their special day, and yet my husband, the Alpha King, was still engrossed in business. I waited, staring at him with annoyance, hoping for a response. Finally, Zander nodded absentmindedly, still engrossed in his call.
"I understand, King Ralph Yearwood, but we shouldn't lower our guard like this before him," Zander sounded annoyed.
I couldn't hear their conversation, but from my husband's expression, it was clear that Lycan King Ralph Yearwood had said something unsettling.
"Okay. Let me think," Zander replied, his tone serious as he listened intently to the other end of the call.
"I will. Yes, very soon," he affirmed decisively before ending the conversation.
"What happened?" I asked, moving to rub his tense shoulders from behind.
Zander relaxed under my touch, turning to envelop me in his arms, lowering his head to my neck to inhale deeply. I felt the tension leaving his stiff body.
"The Dark Alpha and his pack," he began, speaking of the mysterious figure who always remained concealed in darkness, his pack members wearing masks to hide their identities. No one had ever seen him or knew his name. "They seem to have gone quiet recently, which is highly suspicious. We've been tracking their movements closely, but suddenly, all leads vanished into thin air."
"What does it mean?" I inquired urgently.
"It means he might be planning something very dangerous. There's no other reason for him to remain calm for this long. He's ruthless and power-hungry; he won't just change his ways and disappear," Zander explained, his words carrying a chilling weight. I gasped in shock at the revelation, instinct kicking in.
"Do you think it's a threat to our pack?" I asked, my voice betraying concern. Zander lowered his head, meeting my gaze with seriousness.
"Not just our pack, my Luna, but I fear for the entire shifter community," Zander declared, his tone cold with certainty.
"Zander, don't worry. He can't harm anyone, and I'll make sure of it," I said firmly, looking at him with determination.
"I know, my Luna," Zander smiled, his eyes reflecting love and pride as he looked at me. "With you by my side, I can face any threat and emerge victorious. Together, we are invincible," he added, softly pecking my lips.
I smiled, my heart swelling with pride for my mate. Zander was everything to me-World's best mate a she-wolf could ever have in her life. My love. My Life. Everything. Words couldn't describe how much I loved him. Sighing contentedly, I rested my head on his broad chest. I felt his arms tighten around me as he let out a deep exhale.
"Okay, get ready soon if you don't want your beloved sister to be upset," I teased, lifting my head to smile at him. He leaned down, his lips brushing mine before we shared a passionate kiss.
He then lifted me into his arms, carrying me towards the bed. As he kissed me, I tried to break away, realizing his intentions.
"Zander, the guests will be here soon," I moaned as he tugged my lips between his teeth.
"Let them wait," he groaned, his eyes devouring me as he untied the knot behind my neck and peeled off my dress from my shoulders, discarding it carelessly.
There went my dress for the bridesmaid role. Next would be my makeup and hair, and I couldn't afford to look anything less than what Blair expected from her bridesmaid on her big day. But my alpha mate had other plans. "Blair will be upset if we're late. It's her big day," I protested weakly as his mouth found my soft, swollen nipple. My fingers tangled in his hair, my body arching involuntarily off the mattress, craving more of his touch.
"I am the alpha, and my word goes. The ceremony will start when we arrive. But I won't let go of my Luna," he declared huskily, his eyes locked with mine, filled with hunger and lust.
"That's very rude of my alpha!" I whined, but he seemed to care less.
"Austin will be searching for us," I managed to say between ragged breaths as his fingers found my throbbing clit.
"There are plenty in the pack to keep him occupied for a while," he dismissed my pleas, his focus entirely on claiming me.
"Fuck, baby! You're so beautiful. I can't get enough of you," he whispered in his husky voice as his hands trailed along my heated skin, craving his touch.
I couldn't wait any longer and impatiently snapped my fingers. The magic shimmered, removing his clothes.
"Someone is more eager," he teased.
"I can't help it. My alpha is so hot," I breathed out, biting my lip.
Driven by the desire to feel him inside me, I grabbed his steely length. It throbbed in my palm as I guided it to my wetness, stretching my legs wider.
It was hard to tell who was more impatient because, in one hard thrust, he was sheathed in me so deeply, making my head dizzy with pleasure. My head fell back, my back arched as he grabbed my hip roughly, pulling me closer while he planged into me faster and harder.
"Oh, baby, I want to impregnate you again and keep you round and full throughout the year," he mumbled mindlessly while thrusting frantically into my slickness.
My eyes widened with horror, and I pushed him the next moment. But he didn't budge and kept plummeting passionately.
"Hold on!" I screamed, making him halt abruptly.
"What happened, angel?" He furrowed with concern. "Did I hurt you?"
"No!" I hesitated, watching him so worried. "What did you just say?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.
"What did I say?" he frowned, slightly tilting his head.
"You said... you said you wanted me to be pregnant again?" I challenged.
"Of course, sweetheart," he smirked. "We have such powerful genes. We should produce more children and contribute more power to the universe," he said smugly, rocking his hips slowly, making me bite my lips to stop myself from moaning.
He was a very loving father, and our son adored him, considering him the best dad in the world. However, when it came to parenting, he was often preoccupied, impatient, and strict. He left most of the decisions and
the task of raising our son entirely up to me. His role seemed to be mostly about showering our son with affection, spoiling him with love, and giving in to his demands. However, I wanted more children but was scared of the pain and the trouble of raising them alone. I had experienced it with Austin, as no one was with me at that time.
"You're such a pervert, Zander," I slapped his chest. He grabbed my hands with one hand and pinned them above my head.
"I am a pervert only for you, my Luna," he said, taking my lips in a soul-snatching kiss.
"If you don't remember, let me remind you that I raised our son alone, and I don't want to go through that again," I reminded my madly-in-love mate when he finally pulled away and let me breathe. The pain of regret surfaced in his eyes at my words.
"I promise you my love that this time I will be with you in every part of the pregnancy. You won't have to do anything this time; I will take all the responsibility of both mother and father while raising our children," he vowed.
"I doubt it, my Alpha King. You already seem to be so occupied," I teased, squinting my eyes at him.
"You have my word, my Luna," he smirked, rolling my nipples between his fingers, making me shudder under him.
"So, are you ready to have another pup?" he asked, making me groan in frustration. My cunning alpha mate knew how to play dirty and use his ultimate weapon: seducing me and making me submit to his demands.
"I'll consider it later," I giggled wholeheartedly as he planted kisses on his mating mark on my neck, gently nibbling and nuzzling his face against my skin. Oh, I was instantly dripping wet.
"I'll do my utmost to persuade you to agree right now," he declared in his deep, husky voice filled with lust and need.
I had never envisioned a perfect life,
but the Goddess had bestowed
upon me the perfect mate and a
perfect family. We had a son, and wished for a daughter so our family would be complete. But I wasn't going to tell him so easily that I was ready to have another baby with him. Let him work harder for it.
"I love you, my mate!" I screamed with ecstasy as waves of pleasure surged through me while Zander reached his peak and released inside me. Our mating marks shimmered, our bodies enveloped by a golden glow, affirming the strength of our bond. "I love you too, my Luna," Zander declared, sealing his words with a kiss that melted my heart, claiming me as his for eternity.
Chapter 597
The Beginning Or An End
*Selena*
I stood there, watching over my family and pack members, all of us buzzing with excitement. After what felt like an eternity, there was finally something to celebrate in the Moonglow pack. The entire pack sparkled under the twinkling lights, beautifully decorated for the occasion. Even the neighboring packs and their alphas had been invited to witness this royal event-the wedding of the Alpha King's sister and his Beta.
At long last, Blair and Maddox were getting married before the Moon Goddess. They had endured so much, and fate had been cruel to them. In some ways, we were even responsible for delaying their wedding, as our lives and our pack had been tangled in one mess after another. But that was all behind us now.
We stood together, watching the happy couple exchange vows, accepting each other as mates under the blessings of the Goddess.
However, according to the ritual to correct Maddox's past mistake, they couldn't mate until the next full moon. In the past, Maddox had chosen a mate even though he knew he had a fated mate. Though now he realized his mistake and was marrying his fated one, Blair. The delay in mating till the next full moon was necessary to ensure no lingering complications in their mate bond due to his past choices. So, while the wedding took place today, their mating and marking ceremony would only be in three days, under the light of the full
moon.
"Mom, how do I look?" Austin called out, bouncing toward me in a little blue tuxedo that matched his dad's. His excitement was infectious as he tugged at the lapels, waiting for my reaction.
"You look so handsome, my prince," I said, leaning down to plant a kiss on his cheek.
"Mom, can I go play with my friends?" he asked, flashing me his toothy grin.
I smiled but pointed a finger at him in warning. "Okay, but don't go out of my sight, alright?"
"Okay, Mom!" he replied with a nod, grinning even wider before darting off.
I watched as Austin joined his friends, already engrossed in their games. He had made so many friends in such a short time; his bright, bubbly nature made it impossible for anyone to resist him. The sight of his laughter and carefree energy warmed my heart as I kept an eye on him, ensuring he stayed within view.
I shifted my gaze to scan the grand hall as my eager eyes searched for my mate, Alpha King Zander Blake. There he was, commanding the attention of a group of alphas, exuding such authority and charm that it was impossible for anyone not to notice him. His presence alone demanded respect, and every gaze in the room seemed to gravitate toward him involuntarily.
I should have felt a pang of jealousy, considering how much attention the she-wolves were giving him. But instead, I was utterly captivated by the sight of my devilishly handsome husband. Clad in a royal blue tuxedo that fit him like a second skin, he looked impossibly alluring. My eyes couldn't tear away from him.
As if sensing my gaze, he suddenly turned his head, locking his intense eyes with mine. A soft smile replaced the stern expression he wore moments ago, and his gaze softened, his eyes shimmering with unspoken love as they roamed over me, taking in every detail from head to toe.
A blush crept onto my cheeks as I bit my lip shyly, trying to steady myself. I quickly averted my eyes, desperate to maintain my composure before I completely lost myself in the depths of those enchanting blue eyes that belonged to my mate.
As I slowly began strolling through
the hall, checking the remaining arrangements and greeting the guests, I suddenly felt a familiar presence behind me. Before I could turn, a strong hand gripped my waist, pulling me into a twirl until I Was face-to-face with my Alpha mate.
"Did I mention how breathtaking you look today?" Zander's deep, husky voice whispered in my ear as he gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind it.
"Yes, you did," I murmured, leaning closer with a teasing smile. "An hour ago, in our room, right before you ruined my makeup and dress when you took me roughly in our bed."
Amusement flickered in my eyes as I watched his expression darken, his jaw tightening while his eyes gleamed with undeniable desire. A low growl escaped his throat, his gaze dropping to my lips before roaming lower.
"Do you want me to carry you back to our room right now, in front of all the guests?" he threatened, his voice laced with a dangerous edge.
As tempting as it was to say yes, I knew just how shameless my Alpha mate could be. Werewolves were naturally possessive of their mates, but Alphas were on a whole other level of obsession and
protectiveness. And Zander wasn't just any Alpha-he was an Alpha King. Extra possessive, obsessively devoted, and fiercely protective. So I knew very well that it was best not to provoke him further.
"Have some patience, Alpha King," I breathed out, though my voice betrayed the desire I couldn't hide.
"I can't wait for this ceremony to be over so I can take you to our room and fuck you again," he growled lowly, his words sending a shiver down my spine.
Heat flooded my cheeks as I noticed the attention we were drawing. People were already watching us, and embarrassment crept in. I tried to pull away, but Zander's grip tightened, his arm wrapping firmly around my waist, making it impossible to move.
Before I could say anything else, the music began, signaling Zander's cue to leave and walk his sister down the aisle. He reluctantly let me go, his intense gaze lingering for a moment before he turned to fulfill his role.
I turned my attention to Maddox,
who looked impeccable in his
tailored black tuxedo. He stood tall,
his expression a mixture of pride and nervous excitement. The
ceremony began, and the eldeel
started chanting the sacred Words that bound mates together under the blessing of the Moon Goddess.
Blair and Maddox exchanged their vows. When they were finally declared husband and wife, the crowd erupted into joyous cheers, clapping and celebrating as Maddox leaned in to kiss his bride.
But then, everything shifted.
The joyous scene before my eyes blurred, fading into something sinister. The cheers were replaced by screams. The vibrant colors of the celebration turned to blood-soaked chaos. People were crying out in pain, their faces contorted in terror. Fear gripped me as the air around me thickened with panic. I stood frozen, watching the carnage unfold as though I was trapped in a nightmare. A sense of impending doom weighed down on me, and in that horrifying moment, I saw the end.
Chapter 598
"Selena!"
Someone was calling my name, their voice desperate, shaking me frantically.
But I couldn't pull myself out of the world I seemed trapped in. "Selena!"
That familiar voice, rich and soothing with a magical pull, pierced through the terrifying scene in my mind. It dragged me out of the nightmare that played like a vision before my open eyes. I snapped back to reality, gasping as if surfacing from deep water. "Selena," Zander's firm hand held mine, anchoring me. I turned to see his worried face, his piercing eyes filled with fear. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft but urgent.
I exhaled loudly, realizing I had been holding my breath for what felt like an eternity. My gaze darted around, trying to ground myself. The event was still unfolding smoothly. Everyone was safe, and no one seemed harmed.
Blair and Maddox stood before me, their expressions frozen in stunned disbelief. Zander's mother held Austin tightly, his small cries reaching my ears-likely a reaction to my unusual and alarming appearance.
Everything was fine.
No chaos, no destruction, nothing like the horrifying vision I had just experienced. It was only me-shaking in fear, drenched in sweat, and feeling completely out of place amidst the celebration.
But then... what was that? Who were those people, and where was that place I had just seen plunged into cataclysm?
The horrifying scene I had witnessed moments ago the blood, the chaos, the pain-it all felt so real, as though I had truly been there, standing in the midst of the disaster. "Selena."
The gentle but commanding voice of my mother, the High Priestess, resonated nearby. I turned my head to find her standing before me, her eyes serene yet knowing.
"Mother, I... I saw" I stammered, the fear gripping me too tightly to form coherent words.
"I know, my dear," my mother said and her voice was calm as though she understood everything without me needing to explain. She nodded, her expression a mix of reassurance and foreboding. "Let's talk in private," she suggested, her gaze flicking around at the countless eyes fixed on us.
I nodded, walking over to Austin and taking him into my arms. His tear-streaked cheeks and trembling lips tugged at my heart.
"Baby, Mom's fine. Don't cry, okay?" I said softly, brushing his cheeks dry and pressing a kiss to his forehead. "I was just playing a prank on Dad to scare him, you know?"
"Really, Mom?" he sniffled, his wide eyes searching mine for confirmation.
"Really, champ." Zander stepped in with a playful grin. "Your mom totally got me. She won."
Austin blinked, his tears stopping as his lips curved into a small smile. "Mom's always the best at pranks!" he declared, his voice regaining its cheerful tone.
"Now, will you go with Grandmom and eat something while Mom and Dad talk to the High Priestess?" I asked, knowing he'd understand. Though he knew the High Priestess was his grandmother, we'd taught him to address her formally because one day, he'd take Zander's place as Alpha. "Okay, Mom!" he chirped, now fully recovered. He wriggled out of my arms and ran to hold Zander's mother's hand.
Zander's mother gave me a knowing nod and a soft smile before guiding Austin toward the buffet, distracting him with the promise of something delicious.
Blair and Maddox exchanged brief, concerned glances with us as we moved toward the pack house. We followed the High Priestess into a private room, the heavy door shutting firmly behind us.
"What's going on?" Zander
demanded, his tone edged with
worry and authority as his gaze
shifted between my mother and me.
His tone was sharp, almost
demanding, as concern laced his every word. "She turned so hot like
she was burning, and her eyes... they became golden, with rays
shimmering around her. I was
terrified when I found her frozen like
that. Can someone explain what that
was?"
My mother, ever composed, met his frustration with a calm demeanor. "Alpha King," she said softly, her voice steady. "She was experiencing a vision. It's one of the powers she has inherited as a descendant of the Moon Goddess."
on me.
"A vision?" I echoed, confused. My heart was still racing, my thoughts muddled. "But what I saw was terrifying, Mother. I didn't recognize the people in it. How can I help them if I don't even know who they are?" I asked desperately, the weight of the unknown pressing down
"Dear," my mother began gently, her words carrying a gravity that made my chest tighten. "What you saw was the fate of the Lunar Realm."
My eyes widened in shock. "The Lunar Realm?" I whispered, dread creeping into my voice.
"Yes," she said, her gaze steady, though her expression betrayed a hint of sorrow. "The existence of the Lunar Realm and its people is on the brink of disappearing in a catastrophic disaster."
Her words hung in the air, heavy and unyielding, as the reality of what I had witnessed started to sink in.
"What?" Zander and I both exclaimed in unison and our shock was evident in our eyes and voice both.
"But there's more," my mother continued, her calm demeanor unwavering despite the seriousness of her words. "According to an ancient prophecy, only the savior-meaning you, Selena-can save them and the Lunar Realm from destruction." "Me?!" I gasped, confusion and disbelief clouding my thoughts. "How?"
"Because you have been blessed with the powers of the Moon Goddess," she explained patiently. "As her descendant, your rebirth has a meaning and a purpose."
Her words made me gape in astonishment. "So... that's the reason I was made to live wolfless my whole life?! And that is why my wolf reawakened only recently, just when it's almost time?!" I mumbled, piecing together the puzzle that had haunted me for so long.
"Yes, Selena," she affirmed, but her tone was hesitant and I knew the reason. "Your wolf, Arena, is not an ordinary wolf and you know that. She is ancient, powerful-one of a kind. No one else could possess her.
Only a deity could handle the immense strength and power that
Arena brings. You, as a partial
goddess, are the only one capable of
wielding her."
"I... I don't know..." I mumbled, my voice barely above a whisper as I swallowed hard, sinking deeper into the weight of the situation.
But before I could even attempt to
finish my sentence, my mother's voice cut through the tension, sharp and urgent. "We don't have time to waste anymore, Selena," she
announced, her tone leaving el
room for argument. Her piercing gaze locked onto mine. "You have to come with me to the Lunar Realm."
What?!
I stared at her in disbelief.
I had to go to the Lunar Realm?! But what about my mate? And what about my son? I just can't just leave them!
Chapter 599
"No, she can't go just like that," Zander's authoritative voice cut through the tense air before I could even respond. He stepped forward, pulling me protectively behind him, his stance firm and unyielding. "Alpha King," my mother replied, her tone calm but resolute. "This is her fate, and we cannot change it. She must go to the Lunar Realm. She belongs there. Her people are waiting for her." Her words made me frown in confusion. My people? What did that even mean?
"Mother, I belong where my family is where my mate is," I protested, stepping forward. "I understand that the people in the Lunar Realm need my help, but that is not my home."
My mother didn't respond immediately. Instead, she smiled softly as if hiding a lot behind that. "Let's go, Selena," she said gently, reaching out to hold my hand.
I hesitated but eventually stepped toward her.
"No, Selena, don't go!" Zander's voice, raw with desperation, stopped me in my tracks. "My heart says something isn't right."
I turned to look at him, and the sadness and yearning in his eyes made my chest tighten and I swallowed, torn between my love and duty.
"But, Zander," I whispered, my voice trembling, "they need me."
"We will find a way to save the Lunar Realm. We are stronger together, remember?" Zander said, his voice laced with determination as his hands tightened around mine, grounding me in his unwavering support.
Before I could respond, my mother interjected, her calm voice lacing with reasons. "Alpha King, your mate is the strongest wolf, blessed with the powers of the Moon Goddess herself. She doesn't need anyone to change the fate of the Lunar Realm and save her people." Her words left me speechless. The implications of her statement swirled in my mind, leaving me confused and unsettled.
Why was she repeatedly emphasizing two words? My people?! I belonged there?!
Before I could fully process what was happening, my mother's hold tightened on my hand and she began leading me forward. I glanced
down at my hand entwined with Zander's. But as I took a step with my mother, my hand slipped from his, the connection breaking with an ache that mirrored the growing distance between us. With each step, it felt as though the world itself was stretching, pulling us farther apart, deepening the chasm
between us.
And deepened the gap. Suddenly, a blinding beam of light appeared before us. It shimmered like a portal made of stars and moonlight, radiating an otherworldly energy. My heart raced as I glanced back at Zander, who stood frozen in place, his eyes wide with helplessness.
And then, without another word, my mother stepped into the light, pulling me along. In the blink of an eye, the familiar world around me vanished, and we entered another realm-a realm that felt both foreign and eerily familiar as if it had been calling me all along.
It had been a week, yet I found no signs of unusual activity in the Lunar Realm. Everything seemed to flow perfectly as if the realm itself was in a state of flawless harmony. The people here treated me as though I were the Moon Goddess incarnate. They would gather daily at the grand castle where I now resided, offering gifts and seeking my guidance. Their faith in me was unwavering; they believed I could solve their problems simply by existing.
The reverence they showed was both overwhelming and strange to me. My thoughts constantly drifted back to my family-my son, my mate, and the life I had left behind. Here, there was no way to reach them. The mind link didn't function, and telepathy was restricted to
protect the realm's secrecy from
outside interference. It was a lonely
and isolating existence.
As the days passed, the ache to see my family grew unbearable. I decided I needed to return to them, if only for a short while.
"Mother, everything seems fine here," I said one evening over dinner. We sat alone at the royal dining table, a masterpiece carved from the finest marble, unlike anything I had ever seen. "I was thinking of going back to the Moonglow Pack to be with my family. If anything unusual happens, you can inform me, and I will return immediately."
My mother's expression darkened, her response firm. "No, Selena, you cannot abandon your people."
Her words made me frown in frustration.
"Mother, I don't belong here!" I argued, my voice filled with emotion. "I am the Alpha King's wife, the Luna Queen, and the pack members of the Moonglow Pack are my people."
My mother's expression remained calm, but her words cut through me like a blade. "No, Selena. Zander is your mate, but you do not belong there. His purpose was to strengthen your wolf, protect you, and keep you hidden until the time was right. That was his sole role in your life-nothing more."
I stared at her, my heart sinking as her explanation continued. "You have to accept this truth, my daughter. Zander was merely a vessel to help you awaken your true destiny. Your fate lies here. You were born to rule the Lunar Realm and care for its people." Her words left me shocked and utterly dumbfounded.
Chapter 600
My wolf, Lyon, was as restless as I was without our mate. It had been almost a week, and there was no word from Selena-no message, no news, nothing. The Lunar Realm was hidden from the eyes of other shifters, accessible only to immortals, which left me in unbearable uncertainty. Every day, I waited, hoping that tomorrow would bring some sign of her, some contact. But as the days passed, the unease in my heart only grew stronger, gnawing at me like an unstoppable storm.
Austin missed his mother terribly, his innocent questions piercing my resolve. There was no way Selena would willingly stay away from our son. She loved him too much. Whatever was keeping her away, I knew it wasn't by her choice. A dark determination filled me if anyone in the Lunar Realm had harmed her, I would destroy the entire realm myself to get her back.
But anger alone wouldn't bring her home. The only way to find out what had happened to my mate was to reach out to the one person who might know something: the High Priestess. With that singular focus, I made my way to the Moon Goddess temple, hoping against hope that it would hold the answers I so desperately sought.
"High Priestess!" I shouted as I ascended the steps of the Moon Goddess temple, my voice echoing through the sacred halls.
"High Priestess!" Each call grew louder, my frustration boiling over.
I didn't have to wait long. The High Priestess herself appeared, stepping out of the temple with a serene expression that only deepened my irritation. Her calm demeanor felt like mockery in the face of my turmoil. "What's wrong, Alpha King?" she asked softly, her tone feigning innocence.
It didn't work on me.
"Where is my Luna?" I demanded, my voice laced with a threatening edge, daring her to challenge me.
"She is where she belongs," she replied curtly, her calm response only adding fuel to my already burning fury.
"She is my mate, my Luna," I growled, my tone heavy with authority. "My pack and my son need her. Bring her back, now."
The air between us grew heavy as I glared at her, daring her to deny my demand.
The High Priestess bowed her head, a gesture of submission that was customary in the werewolf community when an Alpha King demanded something. Yet, her words didn't align with her actions.
"I beg your pardon, Alpha King," she began, her voice softer now, almost hesitant. "But Selena cannot return."
Her response snapped the last thread of my patience. Fury coursed through my veins, and my tone turned deadly.
"Why? Did she forget us? Did she decide she didn't want to return home? Why can't she come back?"
The High Priestess straightened slightly.
"Because this is not her home," she declared firmly. "The Lunar Realm is. Selena is happy among her people She has Chosen to stay there and start a new life. After all, she is the descendant of the Moon Goddess, and you are no match for her, Alpha
King."
No, I didn't believe it. I didn't believe any of her words. I knew my mate-she loved me, and there was no way she could be happy without me.
I took a menacing step forward and my voice turned low and dangerous. "I don't care if she's a descendant of the Moon Goddess or the Goddess herself. She is my mate. The Moon Goddess made that choice, not me, and certainly not Selena. No one gets to keep her away from me-not even her so-called duty."
"Alpha King, please try to
understand-she cannot live here," the High Priestess said, her tone resolute yet pleading. "She must remain in the Lunar Realm to protect it for eternity. This," she gestured with a sweep of her hand, indicating everything happening around us, "was decided long before the day she was born. I am her mother, but I had to leave her because she was destined to be the savior of the Lunar Realm. If she resides there, no one would dare to think of disturbing the realm, and its existence is crucial for maintaining harmony across all realms."
Her explanation was firm, but I didn't give a damn about any of it.
"If she can't come back, then we'll go to her," I proposed without hesitation.
I would give up everything—my position as Alpha King, my throne, and hand over the pack's responsibilities to my Beta, Maddox. Austin and I would move to the Lunar Realm to be with Selena if she couldn't return to us.
"That's also not possible," she replied, her words slicing through my resolve like a blade. The fury building inside me nearly made me want to tear her apart.
"Selena must rule the Lunar Realm, and for that, she needs a god by her side. You have to forget her," the High Priestess added with maddening composure.
What the fuck was that?!
