“Yeah! You need to help Severin! He’s part of the Shanahans now, isn’t he?” Judith was also startled by the sudden development and urged Catherine anxiously.

“Think about it, ma’am. If something happened to Severin today, there won’t be anyone else left to be your intermediary with Mister Henry. I heard that the Liberty City project is priceless, and annual profit would probably cost tens of millions a year!” Maurice then said.

The head of the Chavezes brought more than two hundred people there, and among them were several highly-skilled individuals.

“Is Severin here? Hand him over right now! If you don’t hand him over today, we’ll take Felicia and Megan away until he offers himself!” Manuel, the head of the Chavezes, yelled loudly. He seemed to be a rather intimidating person.

After all, he might be more than forty years old, but he learned martial arts from several powerful fighters in his family. He was a trained fighter with a relatively strong body, and he looked very energetic for his age.

“I was the one who beat your son up, and I will take sole responsibility for my actions. “Hehe, Diane’s no better. She waited for all these years for that same troublemaker, and it seems to me that Severin would at least end up crippled, if not dead, today!”

Many of the Shanahans’ relatives or servants stood on one side and whispered to each other. Even though their voices were very soft, Severin still heard every single thing.

“Oh, Diane. Your husband sure is something else! I didn’t think he’d go so far as to beat up Mister Rufus! Tsk, tsk. I must admit, his courage is admirable. He’s like a lion amongst sheep! Your taste in men is quite unique.” Maryam, who had been holding in her grudges before, was also there. When she saw Diane and Severin coming, she immediately walked over, folded her hands over her chest, and made some sarcastic remarks.

She believed that the old lady would not help Severin at that juncture because he was an outsider and not a true member of the Shanahans. Offending the Chavezes for Severin’s sake would not be worth all the trouble.

Thank you for your compliment!” Diane smiled unexpectedly, and her reply left Maryam both speechless and angry.

Severin looked at Manuel, and said, “It was your son who tried to harass my wife and me, so I retaliated in kind. You of all people should know what kind of character your son is.”

Manuel knew his son’s character well, but he still remarked coldly, “Who are you to control what my son does? You’re the son-in-law of a third-tier family, and even Stanley shows the utmost courtesy whenever he meets my Rufus. What gives you the right to discipline my son?”

“Yeah, Severin, you’re too impulsive! Can’t you look in the mirror for once and understand your status in society? How could you beat Rufus up?” Stanley added fuel to fire from one side. He doesn’t seem to be seriously injured. On that note, we can’t let you go off empty-handed either. How about you give us a number, and we’ll reimburse you with some money for you to use on your son’s recuperation?”

“Grandma…you…” Stanley nearly fainted when he heard that. Diane, Judith and everyone else was overjoyed. As long as the old lady was willing to stand up for Severin, then things would not turn out so bad after all. Rufus was not seriously injured anyway, and Severin did make a point to hold back when he retaliated.

“Money? That’s interesting!” Manuel laughed. ‘My son was beaten and you’re here talking about money?’ He gestured with his hand and said, “Fair enough. Let’s make it fifteen million!”

“Fifteen million!” Judith nearly fainted when she heard how much Manuel was demanding.

“Fifteen million!” Other members of the Shanahan family gasped too because they did not expect that Manuel would name fifteen million as his price.

Catherine’s mouth twitched slightly and then she looked at Manuel. “This is excessive, don’t you think? You’re demanding fifteen million? It’s not that easy for even a third-tier family to get that kind of money!”

Manuel, however, laughed. “Haha! We don’t lack money, Catherine. A couple of million is peanuts to us. My son spends several million monthly, sometimes even up to ten million. Is fifteen million a lot to you? Well, you only have yourself to blame. You’re the one who willingly asked me to raise the price!” He then paused briefly before continuing, “If you’re reluctant to fork out that money, you can always let us take Severin away with us. That’ll be problem solved! Honestly, if I had such a useless son-in-law like you, I’d just let him be taken away. Think about it, he wouldn’t have gone to jail if he was good for anything. Why bother going to such lengths to protect a son-in-law like him?”

“Grandma,” Stanley began to protest. “That’s too much money. If we spend all that at once, there will be problems with the company’s turnover! Just let them take him away, Grandma. They’ll probably spare his life since he’s the Shanahans’ son-in-law. The most they’ll do is probably break.

Severin came forth and said, “You don’t need to do that, Grandma. Like I said, I should be solely responsible for this!”

Life After Prison Chapter 154-“You’re refusing my help?” Catherine was taken aback. ‘What is Severin thinking?! The Chavezes brought so many people here, and all of them were skilled fighters. Even if Severin can fight, he’ll have to go up against many people!

“Severin, you…” Judith was just as surprised, and she did not know why Severin would say something like that so suddenly.

Everyone knew that Larry was the head of Draco Hall, one of three underground forces in Brookbourn. A person like that would never be on Severin’s beck and call even if Severin “Who are you trying to fool, Severin? You think you can scare Mister Manuel?” Maryam felt that Severin was bluffing and decided to expose Severin’s lies.

Severin looked at her and asked, “Care to bet? If I can get him to come over, then you’ll have to kneel and call me ‘sir.”

Life After Prison Chapter 155-As soon as Severin ended the call, Judith stepped forward anxiously and asked, “How did it go? Is Larry coming?”

Severin smiled. “It’ll be fine, Mom. I helped him in the morning, didn’t I? He’ll be here!”

Judith breathed a sigh of relief after receiving Severin’s assurance.

“Keep bragging, kid! You have only one hour. If he doesn’t come by then, you’ll be in for a treat!” Manuel smiled coldly and did not believe Severin’s words at all.

Severin paid him no mind and walked to one side to smoke a cigarette.

“Look, Stanley. I bet Severin is smoking because he wants to relieve his anxiety right now!” Maryam walked up to Stanley and whispered to him.

Stanley nodded. “You’re right. He must be the kind who wants to smoke whenever he gets a little nervous. Doesn’t he know who Larry is? This is Draco Hall’s big shot we’re talking about! Why would Larry even entertain him?”

Time ticked by, and by the ten-minute mark, a few cars drove over and parked at the gate. Many of Draco Hall’s men then came down from the vehicles.

Larry walked in front of all his men, and to everyone’s surprise, he had brought a significant number of people more than two hundred men.

“No way! Larry came here in person?!” Stanley gulped and his expression soured when he saw who was leading the charge. If Severin could get someone like Larry to come over with just a phone call, then the old lady would probably value Severin even more.

“Oh! So, it’s you, Manuel!” Larry could not help but sneer when he came. There were traces of disdain in his eyes and hints of ridicule in his words.

“Hehe, what’s the meaning of this, Hall Master Larry? Did you rush here simply because the Shanahans’ loser son-in-law requested you to?” Manuel was shocked that Larry came, but he was not afraid of Draco Hall at all. They might be powerful, but their overall strength was about par with that of a second-tier family. Besides, the Chavezes had some skilled fighters too. Generally speaking, only wealthy business families like the Loughs, or third-tier families like the Shanahans,

would be afraid of Draco Hall.

That being said, the Chavezes did not dare to offend such forces on a whim, because it would end up being a cruel and merciless fight if it came to that.

Severin looked at Manuel, and said, “Mister Manuel, you just said that you’d bring your men away if I’m able to get Hall Master Larry to come here, and that you’ll write off the matter of me beating your son up!” Severin then paused for a moment and continued, “I trust that someone with your reputation in Brookbourn would be a man of your word.”

Manuel was furious, but he could only smile politely at Larry. “Alright. We’ll have to show some courtesy now that Hall Master Larry is here.”

After finishing his sentence, Manuel brought Rufus and the Chavezes’ bodyguards away.

“Thank you very much for your help, Hall Master Larry, sir! Since you’re here, why not come in and have a seat?” Catherine had wanted to curry favor with a force like Draco Hall in the past because. they were all very capable fighters despite not having as much money as them. Since there were many benefits to building a good relationship with a force like them, it was only natural for Catherine to seize the chance to express her gratitude.

Larry smiled awkwardly at her and said, “Haha, that won’t be necessary. I’ll visit again when I have. the time, and besides, it’s not ideal when I brought so many people over today. “I was wondering why Larry rushed over here, but now I realize it’s because his mother’s illness hasn’t been cured yet! He’s worried that no one will prescribe any medicine to his mother if Severin gets beaten to death!” Maryam made a sour remark after Larry left.

-“Yeah, it’s all just a matter of luck that he happened to be treating Larry’s mother. He’d be finished if it wasn’t for that!” Stanley said the same thing.

They obviously did not think that the relationship between Severin and Larry had reached a level where Severin could just call him on a whim.

Severin, meanwhile, could not be bothered to explain anything to them. After all, he did not want anyone to know that Larry was his underling.

However, Catherine had noticed something. As soon as Larry came, he repeatedly called Severin Mister Severin’. Most of his words and actions undoubtedly hinted at some sort of respect toward Severin. Most people might not notice that, but she was not most people. She guessed that Larry’s relationship with Severin was not as simple as it seemed on the surface.

After pondering over what happened, the old lady smiled at once and said to Diane, “I’ve decided. Our family has been slipping down for the past few years, and although you’re married to Severin now, you’re still undoubtedly part of us. The Shanahan blood flows in your veins, so, starting tomorrow, you’ll be reappointed as the general manager of the Shanahan Corporation. I hope you’ll be able to lead our family back to its glory days.

Life After Prison Chapter 157-“But, Grandma! Are you sure you want Diane to resume her position as the general manager of the Shanahan Corporation?”

Stanley looked at his grandmother in surprise. His face was full of disbelief and he could not believe what he had just heard. Catherine seemed to have completely forgotten what happened five years ago, to the point of asking him to make way for Diane to resume her position as the general manager.

The old lady smiled indifferently, and said to Stanley, “Do you think I’m the type who likes jokes?”

George, who was standing on the side, had a sour expression and he did not know what to say. Since the old lady had already made her stance known, there was obviously no room for further discussion on that matter.

On the other hand, Felicia had a look of joy and said excitedly, “You’re a wise matriarch, Mom. You can rest assured that Diane will definitely lead our Shanahans to glory again. Meritocracy is the right way to go. Stanley’s been working in that position for a few years already, and the company is regressing instead of improving. If he continues like this, the Shanahans will lose everything sooner or later.”

“What nonsense are you talking about, Felicia? The Shanahans are doing just fine! What do you mean the Shanahans will ‘lose everything’?” Upon hearing her remark, Stanley clenched his fists, took a step forward, and glared viciously at Felicia.

Felicia was taken aback by his reaction and could not help but take two steps back. However, she steeled herself when she thought of her daughter once. again resuming the position of general manager in the Shanahan Corporation. She could not help but point out, “Hehe,

“Enough. Stop arguing, you two. I’ve already decided that Diane will resume the position of general manager starting tomorrow. Stanley will be the manager of the business department!” The old lady said after some thought.

“Business department?” Stanley nearly fainted when he heard that! Aside from being the most tiring and low-paying position, it was also very difficult to get any kickbacks in the business department. That would only worsen if Diane became the general manager. His situation would be a little less difficult if he were to join the human resources department or the finance department.

“That’s decided then!” The old lady nodded, glanced at Severin beside her, and said to him, “I hope you won’t let me down, Severin. I’ll leave it to you to secure the Liberty City project. “We’ll take our leave for now then!” Severin smiled and soon followed Diane’s family as they happily went back to Diane’s family villa.

Life After Prison Chapter 158-Stanley felt annoyed as he watched Severin and the others leave. He could not bear it any longer and said to his grandmother, “Don’t you think you’re being too hasty, Grandma?”

In response, Catherine rolled her eyes at Stanley and said, “You’re an idiot, you know that? There is more to Severin than meets the eye. His relationship with Larry must be deeper than it looks since he could get Larry to come over with just a phone call,” Having pointed that out, the old lady paused for a moment and said again, “Besides, we won’t stand to lose any money now, right? We’ll be making a lot of money if he can secure the Liberty City project. If he can’t do that, then I can. always get Diane to relinquish her position when the time comes.”

“Okay then.” Stanley accepted it on the surface, but he was still a little upset because he did not want Diane to be above him.

“That felt good! Haha! I can’t believe I’d ever see the day when Stanley would be so deflated! His face turned ashen earlier!” Megan said with a smile after returning to their residence.

“He’s right, Dad. If we don’t fight back, our enemies will treat us as easy targets.” Megan sided with Severin and felt more amiable to him. After all, he had given them a luxury car and vented their anger on their behalf. In the past, they were oppressed by Stanley very often, yet they were unable to fight back and could only keep their anger in their hearts.

Diane was the only one who had a prominent frown on her face. “Stanley’s not that big a problem because he’s from our family. The most he’ll do is use some petty little tricks to make life difficult for us. What I’m worried about right now is Rufus.”
