Chapter 1265 - – Heaven's Magnates

For the next couple of centuries, Gravis only spent time with his family and the Black Magnate. He didn't need to do anything else since he only had to wait for the result.

Master Linus was consuming the fruits at this moment, and he would quickly follow through with everything.

Gravis wasn't afraid that Master Linus would pull back his words. After all, when he became a Heaven's Magnate, he wouldn't even need to invest much time into the things he had promised Gravis.

Master Linus knew the True Law of Matter, which meant that he could create all the different kinds of matter with his Energy. The reason for why that wouldn't have worked had been his Energy, but as a Heaven's Magnate, his Energy reserves would essentially be infinite as long as he wasn't fighting another Heaven's Magnate.

What would stop him from simply creating all the different kinds of things Gravis needed?

So, Gravis only waited patiently, and a couple of centuries later, it was finally time.

Gravis noticed reality shift. Something had affected the reality in Opposer City.

However, only very few people noticed the change.

Gravis, his father, his mother, and the Black Magnate were some of them. Gravis knew the True Law of Perceived Reality, which made him susceptible to reality changes, and the other three were vastly more powerful.

Another person that noticed the change had been the Child of Heaven in The Heaven Company.

When he felt the change in reality, the Child of Heaven focused on Master Linus' shop.

Then, he looked away again.

A new Heaven's Magnate was of interest to him, but he had seen enough Heaven's Magnates come and go.

This Heaven's Magnate wouldn't be different. He would be born soon, but he would also vanish before the Child of Heaven would.

They came and went.

Yet, the ascension of a new Heaven's Magnate was still an extreme rarity.

How often were new Heaven's Magnates born?

About once every ten million years.

Gravis had been alive for around three million years, but there hadn't been a single new Heaven's Magnate during that time.

"It's time," Gravis said to his father.

His father only nodded. "Watch closely," he said.

Gravis also nodded.

An instant later, Master Linus exited his store as he flew into the sky.

At this very moment, he was invisible.

Perceived reality warped around him as nearly everyone in the world couldn't perceive him.

Gravis wouldn't have been an exception, but his father kept Master Linus visible for Gravis.

In the air, Master Linus looked around the city.

Everyone went on their day-to-day life, and no one looked at him.

At this moment, Master Linus felt like he had left the world.

He existed, but no one saw him.

It was like he was only a visitor in this world.

Master Linus slowly extended his hand, and reality seemed to warp around him. The city was warping below him, becoming an unrecognizable mess of distortion.

The Child of Heaven opened his eyes as he looked at Master Linus.

If Master Linus willed it, Opposer City would collapse into different perceived realities, essentially being torn apart and strewn across a nothingness of irrelevancy.

However, Master Linus made the world turn back to normal. He had only wanted to test the feeling of unsurpassed power. He wanted to know what it felt like.

The people in Opposer City didn't notice any of it.

They hadn't noticed that they had all been warped and constricted into inhumane shapes.

To them, everything had been normal.

Master Linus looked at his right hand for a bit.

This power…

There was so much of it!

After some seconds, Master Linus looked up.

WHOOOM!

A black hole appeared behind Master Linus, vibrating violently and brutally.

"This is the Star of a Divine God," the Opposer explained. "It transforms into a black hole, sucking in every other Law in the surroundings."

Gravis nodded. He had already expected as much.

Not all Heaven's Magnates knew it, but the end goal was to create a Cosmos.

The first step in that direction was the creation of an Avatar.

An Avatar was only an illusory image of a concept.

Then, that Avatar transformed into a Star.

An Avatar was one concept in an illusory form, while a Star was one concept in a solid form.

The illusory concept had solidified and had become a real entity.

Ancestral Gods expanded their Star with their breakthrough. They needed a level eight Law to gather enough power in their Star for the next step.

The next step was the black hole. The black hole was the incubator or womb of the future Cosmos. The concept of the Star would be suppressed into a minuscule point. The black hole itself pulled a terrifying amount of Energy and Laws towards the center, feeding the unborn Cosmos.

The Cosmos was being created inside the black hole.

Gravis watched Master Linus with interest.

Master Linus closed his eyes as the black hole expanded.

First, it took up a couple of meters, but in no time at all, it took up several kilometers.

"They are here," the Opposer said, pulling Gravis' perception to a different spot.

Gravis saw several unknown people floating in the air.

They were all looking at Master Linus with interest.

"Are these the other Heaven's Magnates?" Gravis asked.

"Yeah, sadly," the Black Magnate said from behind Gravis. "See these three old men? They were my previous 'friends'. Friends, my ass! They are just a group of depressed and suicidal idiots that pull other people down with them!"

Gravis looked at them.

There was a group of three old men. One of them had black and white hair, and Gravis guessed that this person had probably once been a member of the Twilight Council.

Another guy had grey hair, and he looked at Master Linus with boredom. It was like time had become irrelevant to him. Gravis guessed that this Heaven's Magnate had once been a member of the Eternity Sect.

The last guy was a youngster with blonde hair and a smile. In a sense, this youngster reminded Gravis of Arc, but their smiles were very different. Arc had a carefree and calm smile, while the smile of this Heaven's Magnate looked more like an empty mask. It was like he wasn't actually smiling because he felt happy, but because he was used to it.

Gravis had no idea from which Sect this person had come from. Maybe he had been an unaffiliated Cultivator?

"They are the old foggies," the Black Magnate said with a snort. "They have been Heaven's Magnates for a long time, but they never managed to comprehend the Law of Energy. Instead, they always keep on fighting the new Heaven's Magnates when their tribulation comes. I have no idea how they managed to keep living for such a long time."

"They are also the only three that don't know the Law of Energy. I guess one reason for their downer-attitude is that they just can't progress anymore. Instead of striving for a better tomorrow, they just act like becoming more powerful is irrelevant."

"They say there is no way for us to ever reach the next Realm. They always say that there is no reason to become more powerful, that we have reached the end of our way."

"Tch," the Black Magnate spat to the side. "Cowards!"

Gravis looked at the Black Magnate with a complex look and then looked at his father.

The Opposer didn't react.

Gravis wasn't allowed to tell Heaven's secrets to anyone. Sadly, that included the Black Magnate.

In a way, these three old men were right. It was impossible for Heaven's Magnates to reach the next Realm.

They couldn't achieve it, no matter how much they fought.

It was simply impossible.

Instead, it was the Black Magnate that lived in an illusion.

He believed that there was a way forward.

Yet, there was no way forward.

Heaven would kill anyone that attempted to reach the next Realm.

With his recent breakthrough, the Black Magnate had newfound motivation for his future.

He finally stepped out of the shadow of his depressing friends.

Sadly, he didn't know that he was doing Heaven's bidding.

Progression and stagnation were irrelevant at this point.

If one didn't progress, one would die to their tribulation.

If one progressed, one would die to Heaven.

Both paths led to the same outcome.

Gravis wanted to tell the Black Magnate about everything, but he couldn't.

If he did, Heaven would kill the Black Magnate and Gravis.

Instead, Gravis focused on the other Heaven's Magnates.

Chapter 1266 - – Invitation

Gravis looked at the other Heaven's Magnates.

Surprisingly, there were only four others.

"Who are they?" Gravis asked the Black Magnate.

"See those three? Those three know the True Law of Energy," the Black Magnate said as he pushed Gravis' perception to three of them.

One of them was a young girl with green hair and a bright smile. She almost seemed like a cute and playful fairy.

"That's Happy Springs," the Black Magnate said. "She likes watching all the Cultivators and mortals, and she likes influencing their lives for the worse or for the better as entertainment. She essentially views the world as a show or play. She's like Sinister Sally, but not as sinister. Her playing around is more innocent but still causes some death here and there."

Gravis looked at the next person. It was a man with a proud smirk. His body was big and wide, and he felt exactly like an affectionate older brother would feel.

"That's Heavenly Senior," the Black Magnate said. "His name has gotten him into a lot of trouble, but he and his junior brother have always managed to come out on top."

"In fact, you have met his junior brother. His junior brother is Divine Junior. Matching names, right? Heavenly Senior and Divine Junior. Can you guess what they made?" the Black Magnate asked with a smirk.

"The Heavenly Divine Sect?" Gravis asked.

The Black Magnate nodded. "Right. Divine Junior is the current Sect Master of the Heavenly Divine Sect, and Heavenly Senior is a powerful Heaven's Magnate. Funnily enough, he's the newest and youngest Heaven's Magnate. He has only been one for a little more than seven million years."

"When I saw him back then, I was still part of the three old foggies. We four bombarded him with depression, nihilism, and pessimism. Yet, he only smiled at us and told us that he had different plans."

"He randomly challenged one of our group to a life and death battle when he had just reached the Heaven's Magnate Realm."

"Back then, our group had consisted of five people."

"After the fight, we were four, and he comprehended the Law of Energy."

"He is actually one of the main reasons why I decided to talk to you. His actions have shaken my belief, and I started to waver. That's why I got interested in you."

Gravis was quite surprised when he heard that.

Heavenly Senior had to be really powerful if he directly managed to defeat a Heaven's Magnate that had been in the Realm for many more years than him.

Then, Gravis looked at the next person.

It was a woman with black hair and an icy expression. She didn't even look at Master Linus with interest. Instead, she looked at Heavenly Senior with annoyance.

Obviously, she didn't want to be here, and she had only been dragged along.

"That's End of Light," the Black Magnate said. "In a way, she's similar to your big sister. She's very cold, and she only focuses her gaze on true power. She avoids contact with anyone, and she thinks that talking with others is only a distraction."

Then, the Black Magnate snickered a bit. "However, for some reason, Heavenly Senior managed to just string her along. She always complains, but she follows him anyway. I think she doesn't know it yet, but she's probably interested in Heavenly Senior."

At this moment, End of Light turned her head and looked at the Black Magnate with an intense gaze.

Apparently, she had heard him, and she didn't like what she had just heard.

Gravis felt an incredible feeling of pressure pressing down on him. He wasn't the focus of it, and the pressure also wasn't a Will-Aura, but it still felt scary. It was like a powerful beast had just taken note of him.

The Black Magnate only moved his brows a couple of times in a provocative manner.

End of Light only kept looking at him with an icy gaze.

"She will probably be the one that pushes me to comprehend the Law of the Cosmos," the Black Magnate commented leisurely. "Heavenly Senior is too mysterious, and he feels too powerful. Happy Springs is just a nice girl, and I like her joy in life."

"So, I'm only left with her."

Just when the Black Magnate finished his words, End of Light's body shuddered.

Why?

Because Heavenly Senior had just moved his finger across her cheek with a smile.

End of Light quickly jumped to the side, looking at Heavenly Senior with hatred.

Heavenly Senior only chuckled a bit.

Then, Heavenly Senior looked at Gravis with a smirk and winked.

"You better join us soon, Gravis," he said.

Gravis was shocked that Heavenly Senior not only knew of him but spoke to him.

"You know me?" Gravis asked.

Heavenly Senior only chuckled. "We all know of you. That guy has told us to watch your adventures in the middle world."

"And, sure enough, your adventures were quite humorous."

Gravis blinked a couple of times in surprise and looked at the Black Magnate.

The Black Magnate only looked to the side. "I was bored and lonely, okay?" he muttered.

Gravis only sighed as he rubbed the bridge of his nose in annoyance.

It was already awkward enough to have his father and the Black Magnate watch everything he did, but now, several more people had watched him the entire time?

It almost felt ridiculous.

He wasn't some main character in some piece of entertainment!

Suddenly, Gravis felt his perception move to the last person.

It was a young woman with dark-green hair, and she looked expressionlessly at Master Linus. It was like all of this didn't have anything to do with her.

"That's Peaceful Serenity," the Black Magnate said. "She's the only Heaven's Magnate that knows the Law of the Cosmos except for the Child of Heaven. It's easy to talk to her, but she also doesn't get close to many people."

"She's only interested in taking the first place."

"She will be the next enemy of the Child of Heaven."

"Honestly, I want her to win. I don't like that guy."

The other Heaven's Magnates had obviously heard the words that the Black Magnate had said, which meant that she probably also heard them.

Yet, she didn't react.

It was like she wasn't actually present.

Gravis looked at the seven Heaven's Magnates with interest. "Is that all of them?"

"Yep," the Black Magnate said. "We are ten Heaven's Magnates. There's me, the Child of Heaven, these seven, and that Linus fella."

BANG!

At that moment, Master Linus' black hole exploded.

WHOOOOM!

An unending torrent of Energy rushed towards Opposer City from all around the world.

The Peak Sects all looked with shock and confusion towards the direction of Opposer City.

What was going on!?

Only the most powerful and ancient members of the Peak Sects knew what this meant.

A new Heaven's Magnate had been born!

That was bad!

The Sects immediately isolated their God Stone storages, but it was too late. Their God Stones had been reduced by nearly 10%!

Everyone in the world lost 10% of their money.

Everyone except the Economistress.

The Opposer blocked the absorption of Energy for his wife. The last time, he had allowed it to go through since he knew that the God Stones would grow explosively after that, but not this time. This time, the God Stones would reduce in number permanently.

Then, something appeared behind Master Linus.

A small planet took form, and when Gravis saw it, his eyes widened.

Suddenly, loud clapping could be heard, and Master Linus looked over.

Heavenly Senior was clapping politely and happily for Master Linus. "Congratulations, Linus! Welcome to the Heaven's Magnate Realm!"

The others didn't clap alongside Heavenly Senior.

Master Linus looked at the people beside him with interest.

He couldn't read their Law fragments, and it was very hard for him to judge their personalities.

He immediately knew that these were the other Heaven's Magnates.

"I'm Heavenly Senior," he said with a bright smile. "Let's grab a drink later! I'll introduce you to everyone!"

Master Linus looked around with a complicated expression.

Everything had changed.

He didn't know any of these people, but he felt like he finally found a group of people on his level.

It was like all of these people were only visitors to this world.

"Okay," Master Linus said after some seconds.

"Great!" Heavenly Senior said with a wide smile.

Then, he turned towards the Opposer's home.

"What about you? You've been inside this castle for long enough. Do you want to accompany us? There's no reason to exclude you!" Heavenly Senior said.

Gravis knew that Heavenly Senior didn't mean him, so he looked at the Black Magnate.

However, the Black Magnate had a very awkward expression on his face as he looked to his side…

At the Opposer.

The world fell into silence.

Heavenly Senior had just asked the Opposer out to a drink.

Everyone else remained deathly silent.

When Gravis realized what had happened, he also had an awkward expression on his face.

Gravis had been pretty sure that the Black Magnate and his father would get along, but that wasn't the case for Heavenly Senior and his father.

Heavenly Senior felt very different from the Opposer.

The Opposer looked at Heavenly Senior with an emotionless look.

Chapter 1267 - – Gathering Ends

The world fell into silence after Heavenly Senior had invited the Opposer.

Gravis and the Black Magnate felt a bit uncomfortable. Sure, Heavenly Senior appeared like a nice guy, but he felt incredibly incompatible with the Opposer.

The others were nervous. The Opposer had always been incredibly mysterious and intimidating. Just his presence alone pushed everyone away. His aura told everyone that they should keep away from him.

It was similar to when someone saw a stranger walking down the street with an enraged expression.

One immediately realized that this person was not interested in conversation right now.

It was better to just let them be.

When the Opposer had said no, the others still didn't move, but they were relieved to some degree. After all, the Opposer hadn't killed Heavenly Senior for talking to him.

Gravis had already expected that the Opposer would say no. Being friends with the Black Magnate was one thing but being friends with Heavenly Senior was something entirely different.

The Black Magnate didn't talk with very many people, and he only joked with the ones he knew. In front of everyone else, he was similar to the Opposer. He just wasn't interested.

On top of that, the only goal the Black Magnate had had while contacting the Opposer had been to gain a new friend.

He hadn't been interested in the status of being his friend.

He hadn't been interested in the Opposer's power.

He had only wanted to find some company.

As for Heavenly Senior?

Gravis was not so sure.

Heaven's Magnates were beyond normal Cultivators, and Gravis couldn't even see part of their Law fragments, which meant that Gravis could only make a rough guess.

What was Gravis' guess?

Gravis guessed that Heavenly Senior was interested in being friends with basically everyone. That in and of itself wasn't a bad thing.

However, problems could appear when one looked at why Heavenly Senior wanted to be friends with everyone.

Gravis guessed that Heavenly Senior probably liked being in the center of attention.

Now, if he could get the Opposer to be his friend, wouldn't that be a great feeling?

He would have been the one that managed to coerce the Opposer out of his castle. On top of that, Heavenly Senior would have one of the two most powerful beings as a friend.

In a sense, being his friend was not a loss. After all, the feeling of friendship was genuine. Yet, the underlying reason for that desire could sour the relationship a bit. Most people probably wouldn't care, but some people definitely cared.

Gravis guessed that, in the Opposer's mind, such a mindset was akin to weakness. One could even call this mindset a kind of dependability.

The Opposer obviously wasn't interested in such a person.

However, Gravis still couldn't be sure. All of these things were only a guess.

When Heavenly Senior heard the refusal, his smile didn't vanish.

"Oh, come on," he said. "I know that you feel like-"

BANG!

Suddenly, a gigantic and unfathomably powerful bolt of lightning exploded from the skies and hit Heavenly Senior.

None of the Heaven's Magnates had even been able to react to the bolt of lightning.

The Opposer didn't react.

For an instant, Gravis had felt the power of the bolt of lightning, and his eyes widened in shock.

It was incomprehensibly powerful!

The bolt of lightning had been instant, but the bright image had been burned into Gravis' mind.

The bolt had been pure black, and it had demonstrated a complexity in terms of Laws Gravis had never seen before.

It was ridiculously complex and powerful!

Of course, this wasn't Heavenly Lightning. Gravis knew Heavenly Lightning, and that definitely wasn't Heavenly Lightning!

That only left one thing.

It was Orthar's lightning!

Everyone looked with absolute shock at the bolt of lightning, except for a few exceptions.

End of Light looked with horror at the place where Heavenly Senior had just been.

Peaceful Serenity looked at the same place with burning eyes.

Child of Heaven looked with narrowed eyes at that place.

Inside the city, in an empty street, Heavenly Senior slowly sat up again.

There wouldn't have been any other reason that would have moved Heaven to get involved.

Heavenly Senior began to sweat in terror as realization struck.

He had nearly died!

He had nearly committed suicide!

How could he have been so stupid!?

Trying to talk to the Opposer like this!?

That was ridiculous!

Heavenly Senior wanted to kick his past self. He had gotten too used to being in control and being so powerful!

He had completely forgotten that there were still beings he couldn't even attempt to fight against!

Heavenly Senior slowly floated upward again.

Then, he looked at the Opposer with a nervous and scared expression.

"I'm sorry," he said silently. "I don't know you, and I shouldn't have attempted to guess your thoughts."

"It is completely up to you if you want to come or not."

The Opposer only looked at Heavenly Senior for some seconds with an emotionless expression.

Heavenly Senior felt like these seconds dragged on for an eternity.

Then, the Opposer simply looked away again.

When that happened, it was like the entire world had released a sigh of relief.

The tension vanished, only leaving a bit of awkwardness behind.

At this moment, Master Linus coughed a bit. "I'm sorry, but I have to decline the invitation for now," he said. "I will come later, but for now, I have a promise I have to keep. It won't take too long, and I will come to find you after I'm done."

"Oh, sure, that's fine," Heavenly Senior said as his smile slowly returned. "Take all the time you want. It shouldn't be difficult for you to find me with your newfound power. We have a long time ahead of us, and a couple of years don't mean much."

"Thank you," Master Linus said with a polite smile.

After that, Heavenly Senior surprisingly turned to Gravis. "Gravis, you were one of the biggest reasons for our new friend, and we have planned quite a surprise for you."

Gravis blinked a couple of times in surprise.

Heavenly Senior only winked. "We won't get involved in your Cultivation and your path to power, but we can do something else. Usually, we don't get involved in the stuff we have planned, but this time, I think you have given us quite an amazing opportunity."

"We only need to tweak the way the world works by a bit, and it will end in something incredible."

"Give us a bit less than a million years, and you will see the result. Hope you're excited!"

Then, Heavenly Senior teleported away with a smirk, leaving Gravis confused.

"Join us soon! We've been waiting for you for quite a while. I also want to talk to Mortis at some point. That guy is such an entertaining tease."

Peaceful Serenity threw an unrecognizable glance at Gravis as she scratched her chin in thought.

Then, she also disappeared without saying anything.

Now, only Master Linus was left flying in the air.

Master Linus closed his eyes again to feel his newfound power, but some seconds later, he opened them with a smile.

Then, he turned to the Opposer's castle and performed a slight, polite bow.

"I would like to repay Gravis for what he has done for me."

Chapter 1268 - – Repayment

"You can come in!" the Economistress said with a bright smile.

Master Linus' perception entered the Opposer's room again, and he saw the Economistress happily smiling at him.

"Thank you," he said before teleporting into the room.

Master Linus was quite nervous. Looking into the Opposer's room was one thing, but entering it was something completely different.

"Just ignore him!" the Economistress said with a bright smile. "Just treat him as some kind of ugly decoration."

Master Linus didn't dare to answer.

The Economistress pulled him over and served him some tea.

Gravis looked at his mother with a suspicious glance. His mother was a very social person, but she was acting a bit too nice right now.

"Are you happy that you have less competition?" Gravis asked.

"Of course!" the Economistress said with a bright smile. "With him gone, my forging company can expand even more!"

'Knew it,' Gravis thought.

Master Linus only chuckled a bit. "Sorry about that," he said.

"It's fine," the Economistress said. "If I could dominate everything without a fight, it would be boring. It's just a competition."

"I'm happy that you won't forge for the public anymore, but on the other hand, it's also a bit sad to lose such an opponent. Our ongoing fight about money and customers has given me some memorable experiences," she said.

Master Linus chuckled again. "Well, it wasn't fun for me. Finding companies willing to sell their ore to me was far too troublesome, and I had to pay them far too much for what they had given me. I'm glad that these days are behind me now."

"You? A guest? You might as well be a freeloader! You keep living here without paying rent! You should count yourself lucky that I haven't already thrown you out!" the Economistress angrily shouted.

The Black Magnate wanted to retort, but in the end, he decided against it.

Even the Opposer surrendered in front of his wife.

Master Linus looked with interest at the Black Magnate, and the Black Magnate looked back.

"Hello, I'm Linus," Master Linus said politely when their eyes met.

The Black Magnate only nodded. "I can give you some advice about the other Heaven's Magnates later, but you should finish your business with Gravis first."

"Sure, I'll gladly accept that invitation," Master Linus said. In a way, the Black Magnate felt more approachable than Heavenly Senior to Master Linus.

Maybe it was because Master Linus had also avoided human contact for such a long time?

The Black Magnate only smirked.

After a while of talking, Gravis joined the table and sat down without a word.

Then, Gravis took a deep breath to prepare himself.

Suddenly, Gravis opened his eyes, and he looked at his mother with sad eyes. "Mom, could I have some tea, please? I would really like some tea. I'm thirsty."

Master Linus looked with surprise at Gravis.

The Economistress looked with a slightly unwilling expression at Gravis.

However, in the end, she sighed and also gave Gravis a cup of tea.

"Thank you, mom," Gravis said with a bright smile.

The Economistress only groaned as she put her hand to her forehead.

"Tch," the Black Magnate spat from the side in disdain.

Gravis took a big mouthful of the delicious tea and looked with a professional smile at Master Linus. Just now, he had seemed like an innocent little boy, but now, he appeared like a professional businessman.

"Anyway, that's a good thing. With the True Law of Matter, we can weaken the weapons of our enemies by quite a bit. It's still worth it, even if we will already get all the weapons we will ever need."

Gravis nodded. "I'm currently busy comprehending the materials Master Linus gave me. What's your plan?"

"I've been angry for too long, and I think calming down is just the right thing. I'll check out a Heaven's Trial for the True Law of Calm. Don't know how long it will take."

Gravis nodded. "Sure. Tell me when you're done."

The two of them cut their connection. Mortis traveled to the next Heaven's Trial while Gravis continued comprehending the materials.

Luckily, since Gravis had already gone through all the insights of these Laws for his previous Form Law, creating his new Form Law didn't take very long.

In fact, it only took him 50,000 years.

After 50,000 years, Gravis had created his new Form Law.

It wasn't beautiful as his last one, and it didn't have the telltale aura of perfection to it.

However, it definitely was powerful.

The Form Law reached the power of a level 9.5 Law.

If Gravis wanted to push it to the power of a level ten Law, he would need more level nine Elemental Laws.
