Enelia followed behind, picking up the pillow that had been thrown to the floor. "Enough, Morgan The Graham family is the wealthiest in Havenbrook. Even your grandfather has to show Fraser some respect. Why did you have to provoke that woman just now?"

Morgan sat on the edge of the bed, fuming. Her face ached, and her chest burned with anger. just can't stand women like her! Why should everyone bow down to a vixen just because she latched onto the Bosman?"

Emelia sighed. "That's just how society works. If you have the ability, go find yourself a man with power and influence to protect you."

Morgan refused to accept it. "The best men in Havenbrook have been snatched up by her! Where am I supposed to find one now?"

"Then, Morgan, be good and stop making trouble. We've already lost enough face today."

"Mom, the pain on my face is killing me, and you're still speaking up for that vixen? Are you my mother?

Leven

Emelia took the warm, towel-wrapped egg from a maid and gently pressed it to Morgan's swollen cheek. "Because I'm your mother, I'm telling you not to stir up trouble. That woman is pregnant. In the Graham family, she's untouchable. There's no need to light a losing battle and end up covered in filth.”

Morgan touched her red, swollen face, her pupils dilating with resentment. "Why should she have everything?!"

Emelia knew her daughter had been spoiled since childhood and still did not understand the intricacies of social power. "Because she is the rightful Mrs. Graham."

"Kraser must be blind, bewitched by that vixen. Mom, I'm just as beautiful. If I had met Fraser earlier, maybe I would be the one standing in her place today."

Emelia comforted her, "Yes, yes, iny

daughter is the most beautiful. Don't worry, I will find you a good match. Apart from the Graham family, I heard that Trevor from the Larson Group is still unmarried

Hearing this, Morgan abruptly stood up. "Trevor was that vixen's ex! I refuse to take her leftovers."

Emelia was momentarily stunned. She had not expected Summer to have had ties with not one but two of Havenbrook's most powerful families.

Fine, forget Trevor. I'll arrange a meeting with the Aldridge family instead. They come from a prestigious literary lineage and are also a wealthy household. Their status would suit you well"

Morgan was not interested. Right now, the only man she cared about was Fraser.

Why should I senle for anyone else? That woman only gained her position because she was

make sure to get my revenge.

She responded absentmindedly, "We'll see."

Finished

Emelia finished tending to her face, reminding her once more not to cause any trouble, before heading next door to change.

Of course, Emelia was also furious. Her precious daughter had been slapped, and she had to swallow her pride and apologize to Summer.

But the Graham family and the Harper family were not on the same level.

She had weathered many storms in her life. There was no point in making an enemy out of 'Mrs. Graham just to satisfy a grudge. It was far wiser to focus on securing a greater share of the fortune in Granthera Bank for herself and her daughter.

Speaking of the Aldridge family, Morgan was indeed of age to marry.

A good marriage would not only elevate her status in the Harper family but also give her someone to rein her in and perhaps even curb her impulsive nature.

Emelia had already made up her mind. Tomorrow, she would arrange an afternoon tea with Madam Olivia

The moment Emelia left the room, Sasha and Liliah stepped inside.

Morgan glanced at them with disdain, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Oh? You two actually remembered to show up?"

Sasha and Liliah exchanged looks before stepping forward, each taking a side to massage Morgan's shoulders ingratiatingly,

Sasha smiled awkwardly. "There wasn't much we could do back there."

Liliah nodded quickly. "Yes, so we stepped aside and decided to find a way to help you from the shadows."

Morgan scoffed. "You talk a good game. Fine. I'll give you a chance to redeem yourselves. How do you plan on helping me get revenge?"

Sasha and Liliah forced a smile. That was just empty talk meant to appease her.

Even Morgan herself had been completely overpowered by Summer; what could we possibly do?

Seeing their hesitation, Morgan's patience snapped. She shoved their hands away in annoyance. "Cowards, the both of you!"

Sasha quickly soothed her, "Don't be mad, don't be mad! Morgan, just tell us what to do, and we'll

do it!"

Morgan's anger still simmered, and she was already scheming on how to turn the tables. Suddenly, an idea came to her. "There is something you can do for me. Come closer."

Sasha and Liliah leaned in as Morgan whispered into their ears.

As they listened, their expressions darkened.

Liliah, who was always the timid one, hesitated. “I don't think that's a good idea..."

Morgan shot her a sharp look. "What's not good about it?"

Liliah swallowed nervously. "You insulted her earlier, and the Bossman immediately stepped in tot defend her. If something were to happen to her baby, do you really think he wouldn't destroy us all?"

Morgan sneered. "If you don't say anything, who will know it was us? We'll just find a scapegoat to

take the fall."

Sasha pondered for a moment, then nodded. "That's true. The Bossman is only marrying that woman because she's pregnant. If something were to happen to the baby, maybe he wouldn't value her so much anymore."

Liliah hesitated, glancing at Morgan and Sasha before whispering, "Are we really doing this?"

Morgan smacked the back of her head. "If you don't, then you're no longer one of mine."

Liliah winced, rubbing her head. She had no choice but to nod. "Alright..."

On the way to find Merry, Summer dialed her number. The phone rang several times before Merry finally answered.

Summer asked, "Merry, where are you?

“Summer, I... I'm in the storage room behind the villa." Merry answered softly.

Hearing that, Summer asked further. "Why are you there? I thought you were supposed to be the

event staff?"

Merry stammered over the phone.

Summer understood immediately. The Harper family's maids were likely trying to curry favor with Morgan by bullying Merry.

She instructed. "Forget it. Stop working and come home with me.”

Merry looked around the cluttered storage room. Metal racks filled with various items towered over her, making the space feel chaotic and overwhelming. "The butler said I can't leave until I clean this place."

Summer's voice was firm. "You were hired as event staff, not a janitor. This is not even in your job scope. Just ignore them."

Merry hesitated, but Summer was right. All this suffering for just 137 dollars? Even beasts of burden had limits.

Determined, Merry started descending the ladder step by step.

Suddenly, the screws on the ladder seemed to loosen. It wobbled dangerously, and before she could react, her foot slipped.

With a loud thud. Merry crashed to the ground, a sharn cry of nain escaping her

lins.

Hearing the impact through the phone. Summer's grip tightened "Merry What happened?"

Merry lay sprawled on the cold floor, trembling. She tried to move, but pain shot through her body "Summer I'm okay. The ladder just gave way I wasn't careful and fell"

Stay where you are I'm coming Summer stopped a maid with a ponytail. "Where's the storage

The maid pointed in the direction. Then, Summer ordered the maid to send some help to the storage room before rushing off

The villa's storage room was quite a distance from the banquet hall, Summer would need to walk down a narrow path to teach there.

The dim streetlights flickered, and the trees rustled eerily in the wind. Compared

to the brightly lit banquet hall, the contrast was stark. One world was filled with laughter and warmth, the other was shrouded in darkness.

As she neared the storage room, she noticed its doors were wide open.

Just as she was about to step inside, she hesitated. She pressed herself against the nearby wall. waiting a moment.

Just in case anything happens. She pulled out her phone to text Fraser

But when she glanced at her screen, her heart sank. There was no signal.

Her unease deepened.

Why did Merry conveniently have an accident in the storage room? Why did my phone lese service the moment I arrived!

Her instincts screamed at her. She decided to return to the Banquet hall find Fraser, and then come back with help.

But just as she turned to leave, a territed scream echoed from within the storage

room.

Summer clenched her teeth. There was no time to hesitate.

She spun around and rushed inside. "Merry! What happened"

Seeing Summer's silhouette in the doorway, Merry let out a shaky breath of tehet. "The highes suddenly went out. And I swear I saw a ghost in the window just now. It scared me half to death?"

Summer switched on her phone's flashlight and swept it around the dark, cluttered room until the beam landed on Merry, who was still on the floor

"We need to get out of here. Can you walk? Summer askest

Merry gritted her teeth and tried to stand, but her ankle gave way beneath her.

Merry's eyes widened in terror. "What's happening?! Is someone there? Help! We're locked in!"

She fumbled for her phone, but just like Summer's, it had lost all signal.

Summer guided her to sit against the wall before striding to the door and pounding against it.

Deep in thoughts. Her expression darkened. "Someone wanted me here. They planned this."

Merry's face paled as realization dawned on her. Guilt flooded her eyes. "I get it now. They used me as bait! I'm so sorry, Summer. I dragged you into this..."

Chapter 343

Chilled to the Bone

At that moment, the tightly shut door of the adjacent cold storage room opened.

Inside the storage room, the temperature was adjusted to a chilling 18 degrees Celsius. This storage room was keeping the Harper family's collection of care and exquisite delicacies.

Summer and Merry shivered as waves of bone-piercing cold rushed out. Every icy breath they sipped in sent biting chills through their bodies.

As time passed, Summer who was already frail due to her pregnancy, began to show signs of distress. Her lips turned an alarming shade of purples

Merry, ignoring her own discomfort, hurriedly removed her vest and draped it over Summer. But it was futile. The thin fabric was no match for the relentless cold.

They were both dressed lightly, especially Summer, who was in an elegant evening gown. Even a man clad in a thick down jacket would not last a night in this frozen chamber. Let alone them.

Merry trembled violently, her teeth chattering as she stammered, "Summer, are... Are you okay?"

Summer clenched her jaw, enduring the cold. "I'm fine

Merry looked down and suddenly noticed something alarming. She saw a damp stain appeared beneath Summer's dress. Her eyes widened in horror, and she cried out. "Summer... I think you're... bleeding! No, please don't scare me..."

Summer's face was pale from the cold, but she forced a weak smile. "Don't... worry, It's not blood."

She had merely brushed against a wet patch on the ground. But because her gown was black, under the dim light, the dampness looked eerily like blood.

Still, the cold was becoming unbearable. A sharp pain throbbed in her abdomen, the spasms. growing more intense. She dared not move too much.

She knew they had to get out of there. Fast.

If they stayed any longer, even if she wasn't bleeding now, the relentless cold would endanger her. unborn child.

Merry gritted her teeth, enduring the pain in her twisted ankle as she struggled to her feet. She limped towards the door using the wall as her support and started pounding on it with all her strength.

"Anyone out there? Please help ust We're trapped in here! She shouted over and over, but outside was just dead silence.

The storage room was far from the banquet hall, nestled in the mountainside. If no one happened to pass by, they could scream until their voices went hoarse, and still, no one would hear them.

Chilled to the Bone

Panic set in. Merry paced anxiously, rubbing her arms, trying to generate some warmth.

Finished

But it did not work. The cold had spread out from the storage room, permeating the surrounding warehouse, making it just as frigid.

If they stayed any longer, the very air would freeze. And so would they.

Desperate, Merry kept slamming her fists against the door, ignoring the pain in her hands. She shouted until her throat bummed.

"Somebody! Please, help us! Summer is about to pass out!"

Summer's eyelashes were now dusted with a thin layer of frost. Her chest ached from the cold. "Merry... stop. Save your strength."

Merry staggered back to Summer's side, horrified by her worsening condition. She could see Summer's lips were nearly purple due to the cold.

Tears streamed down Merry's face, blurring her vision. Guilt and despair overwhelmed her. She slapped herself hard across the face and her cheek instantly swelled up, turning red and raw. "It's all my fault! I'm a walking disaster! I keep dragging you into danger!" she sobbed. "If anything happens to your baby, you should just kill me!"

Summer winced. Merry's cries made her head throb even more. She reached out and grasped Merry's trembling hand.

Their hands were icy and stiff like frozen blocks.

Merry clung to Summer's hand. Her voice was thick with emotion. "I'm so scared. What if no one hears us? What if we really freeze to death here?"

Summer spoke with confident, despite her condition. "We won't die here."

Merry looked into Summer's determined eyes. She could see flickers of hope. She sniffled. "How can you be so sure?"

Summer's gaze drifted down to the sapphire bracelet around her wrist. In the darkness, the sapphire gleamed and casted a soft, ethereal, vibrant blue glow.

"Because Fraser will come for me," she said firmly. Her voice held absolute certainty although she was weak. "He will find me."

Merry did not know why Summer was so sure but she believed her.

She silently prayed with all her heart that Fraser would come as soon as possible. Because they were reaching their limit.

Summer's eyes, ened by the cold, fluttered shut for a moment. She whispered softly to the life growing inside her. "Hold on, baby... Let's wait for your daddy together, okay?"

Chilled to the Bone

Meanwhile, at the banquet hall.

Finished

Fraser stood among the guests, engaged in a discussion with Samuel and his brother, Cedar. They had just reached a preliminary agreement regarding the northern city development project.

Chapter 344

A Storm in the Banquet Hall

The only thing left was to wait for the lawyers from both parties to finalize the cooperation agreement in the coming days.

This news brought unparalleled joy to Samuel and Cedar.

The development project in Norwyn was a highly sought-after opportunity. Every top-tier business magnate had been eyeing it, waiting for the government's final decision on its allocation.

Yet, without suspense, the project was handed directly to the Graham Group by the high-ranking officials.

Indeed, the Graham Group had more than enough financial strength to develop the area independently. However, out of respect for the Harper family and as a courtesy to Martin, Fraser agreed to collaborate with Granthera Bank.

For Granthera Bank, this was akin to riding the coattails of a giant. Even if they were merely drinking from the spillover, it was an opportunity worth seizing.

If the Norwyn area development turned out to be a success, the profits alone would be equivalent to three years' worth of revenue for Granthera Bank.

Beaming, Samuel and Cedar once again raised their glasses in a toast to Fraser.

Fraser stood tall, exuding an air of noble indifference. He casually swirled his glass of whiskey before taking a sip, his dark eyes scanning the banquet hall. Yet, his gaze did not land on Summer. His brows furrowed.

At the same time, another group of eager guests swarmed forward, glasses in hand, hoping for a chance to toast him, to establish even the smallest connection with the powerful man before them.

But Fraser, disinterested, barely spared them a glance. His imposing aura alone was enough to keep people at bay; his cool indifference was a silent warning against further disturbance.

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. The dial tone rang and rang. But there was no

answer.

His frown deepened. He called again. Still no response.

The banquet was being held halfway up a mountain. Summer could not have left alone. And there was no way she would not hear her phone ringing.

But she was missing, and her phone was unreachable.

Had something happened to her?

The mere thought sent a chilling wave through Fraser. His grip on his phone tightened, knuckles turning white. His voice, now laced with ice, cut through the air as he issued a command to the

A Storm in the Banquet Hall

Cedar, assuming Fraser was merely looking for his wife, let out a lighthearted chuckle.

"Mr. Graham, no need to worry. Mrs. Graham is probably just chatting with some friends. Women tend to get carried away with their conversations and forget about time. My wife does the same all the time."

Fraser lifted his gaze, and in an instant, a chilling, bone-deep coldness shot from his eyes. The banquet hall fell into a suffocating silence.

Samuel and Cedar, despite their seasoned experience in high society, felt their backs turn rigid under the weight of Fraser's stare.

I thought we were talking amicably just moments ago. Why did this man suddenly exude an aura of pure menace, as though he were ready to kill?

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Samuel barked an order at the butler. "Tommy, take the maids and search every corner of the banquet hall for Mrs. Graham."

The butler nodded hastily and rushed off, leading a few maids on a thorough search.

Cedar, attempting to defuse the tension, forced a smile.

"Mr. Graham, rest assured. My father's banquet is held across multiple halls. Perhaps Mrs. Graham is just enjoying herself in another section."

But when he looked up, he was once again met with Fraser's abyss-like gaze, devoid of warmth. A man in his forties, Cedar found himself trembling, unable to utter another word.

Moments later, the butler returned, head bowed low. "We've searched the front, back, and side halls. There's no sign of Mrs. Graham."

Fraser let out a cold chuckle. His lips curled into a mirthless smile as he released his grip on his whiskey glass.

With a sharp crash, the glass shattered against the floor, sending shards flying. Under the dazzling crystal chandelier, the spilled liquor shimmered ominously, resembling a pool of fresh blood.

A shiver ran through the crowd. No one dared to breathe too loudly, let alone make a sound.

Fraser's voice, low and menacing, sent icy tendrils creeping down spines. "A person goes missing just like that?"

The deadly calm in his tone was far more terrifying than any outright outburst. It was the voice. of a man who would stop at nothing to reclaim what was his.

Samuel and Cedar broke out in a cold sweat.

If Mrs. Graham was not found tonight, then forget about the Norwyn area development contract.

Finished

A Storm in the Banquet Hall

Samuel whipped around to the butler, barking furiously, "Did you even search properly?!"

The butler trembled under the pressure, his voice shaky. "We... we searched the banquet halls, but we haven't checked the upper floors where the young masters' and young ladies' rooms are..."

Fraser's patience had run out. He picked up his phone and made a call.

Within moments, the sound of hurried, heavy footsteps echoed through the grand villa.

At the entrance, Mike strode in, leading a battalion of elite, well-trained bodyguards.

Chapter 345

The Hostage Crisis

The melodious piano music came to an abrupt halt.

The swaying crowd on the dance floor and the brightly lit ballroom of the grand villa all seemed to freeze in time as if someone had pressed pause.

In an instant, the entire first floor, including the front, back, left, and right banquet halls, was surrounded by bodyguards.

A heavy, suffocating tension filled the air, pressing down on everyone like an impending storm. The guests attending the banquet were all prominent figures, yet they had no idea what was happening.

Seeing the muscular, intimidating bodyguards, some thought it was a hostage situation. Panic set in. Terrified screams echoed through the hall.

At the front of the formation, Mike strode forward, his face expressionless. "Search the place."

Immediately, dozens of bodyguards dispersed, sweeping through every corner of the villa with military precision.

The rhythmic, synchronized footsteps rang through the halls like a relentless drumbeat of doom. No one dared to move.

Upstairs, the commotion startled Martin from his rest. The elderly man shakily descended the stairs supported by a maid. His face clouded with confusion.

Morgan, Emelia, and several others were also herded into the main hall.

In mere moments, the lively birthday banquet had turned into something straight out of a hostage crisis.

Martin's face darkened as he surveyed the chaotic scene. Today was his 85th birthday. How had it come to this? Gripping his cane tightly, he demanded, "What on earth is going on here?"

Samuel and Cedar stood frozen, speechless under the oppressive aura of the man before them.

Only one person had the power to turn the birthday of a bank tycoon into a living nightmare.

Fraser.

Martin cautiously approached the cold, imposing figure. His voice was calm but laced with uncase. "Fraser, what happened? Why the need for such drastic measures?"

The crystal chandeliers cast a faint glow over Fraser's sharp, chiseled features. His eyes were void

of warmth.

Summer was missing. And at this moment, no one here held any significance to him.

The Hostage Crisis

Finished

Fraser smiled, but the expression never reached his eyes. "My wife has disappeared in your banquet hall. I trust you won't mind if I take the necessary precautions."

His gaze swept across the crowd, dark and penetrating. "If anything happens to her, every single person in this room... will pay the price

A collective gasp rippled through the hall. Some guests turned deathly pale, trembling uncontrollably. Others erupted into fearful cries.

Emelia's sharp gaze flicked to her daughter, a silent question in her eyes, "Was this your doing?"

Morgan's heart pounded violently, but she forced herself to remain calm. She clenched her teeth, shaking her head ever so slightly.

No one will find out. No one will suspect me.

Emelia exhaled in relief. If her daughter had been foolish enough to do something reckless, they would not live to see tomorrow's sun.

Meanwhile, Sasha and Liliah, who stood beside Morgan, instinctively tried to slip away. But the bodyguards blocked every exit. Nowhere to run.

Their eyes welled up with fear. They stumbled in panic, collapsing onto the floor.

Mike returned from upstairs, his expression grim. "Mr. Graham, we've searched the entire villa. She's not here."

"Is that so?" Fraser's expression twisted into something terrifying.

In the dead silence, someone suddenly burst into sobs. "Who took her? Just tell him already! Don't drag us all to our graves!"

Morgan's teeth chattered as she clenched her fists, her pupils tinged with blood- red anxiety.

They won't find out. They won't.

At that moment, the butler hesitated before speaking. "T-There's still the warehouse. We haven't searched there yet.

The words had barely left his lips before Fraser was already moving. Without hesitation, he strode toward the back of the villa.

Mike and the guards followed.

The warehouse was cold and shrouded in darkness. A thick mist clung to the air, mixing with the sharp, bone-chilling cold. The floor had long since frozen over, a thin layer of ice reflecting the dim light in an eerie shimmer.

In the farthest corner, Summer and Merry huddled together.

The Hostage Crisis

Summer curled in on herself, her arms wrapped tightly around her stomach.

Merry turned toward her, only to see Summer's eyes fluttering shut.

Panic surged through her. "Summer! Summer, don't do this! Wake up!"

Finished

At the faint call of her name, Summer struggled to keep her eyes open. A weak hum escaped her lips, barely audible.

Merry's voice cracked with tears. "You said he would come for us. Why isn't he here yet?"

Tears streamed down her face, freezing almost instantly upon contact with the icy floor.

Summer wanted to reassure her, to say something. But her throat felt constricted, as if something

jhad blocked her voice completely. She could not make a sound.

Chapter 346

Summer's Memories

Summer's consciousness began to blur. Memories flooded in.

She remembered her childhood and Yolanda's cold, unyielding anger.

Finished

No matter how obedient she was, it never seemed to be enough. Yolanda always looked at her with dislike.

Back then. Summer couldn't understand. Why did she hate her so much?

Later, she learned the truth that Yolanda was not her real mother.

Summer felt relieved. The mother she had imagined in her heart was not like that at all.

The scene shifted. She was back at the Stewart Mansion.

Jasper, Julia... they all resisted her presence, as if she had disrupted their

peaceful lives. Margaret's eyes burned with hatred, always saying the same thing, "Why did you come back to steal my place?"

That was when Summer finally realized that she was nothing but a burden. Perhaps she had never even belonged in this world.

The family love she had longed for was nothing more than a fragile illusion.

Then came the memory of Trevor's indifference. And in the end, his desperate plea for forgiveness, kneeling before her.

They were all cruel. So cruel that she no longer wanted any of them. So cruel that she locked herself away, shutting out the world. If she kept herself hidden, no one could hurt her anymore.

But then... someone appeared.

It was Fraser.

His eyes were warm. He always gazed at her steadily, unwaveringly.

In his deep, magnetic voice, he murmured, "Summer, how can you be so foolish?"

She wanted to argue that she was not foolish. Fraser only smiled. "If you're not foolish, then why can't you see that I love you?"

She did not believe him. No one had ever loved her. But Fraser took her hand and pressed it against his chest. Beneath her palm, his heartbeat thudded, strong, steady, and real.

The words 'I love you' echoed so clearly that she could no longer ignore them.

Then, he pulled her into his arms. His embrace was so warm, as if shielding her from all the

malice in the world

Summer's Memories

His deep voice carried a lazy fondness as he called her, "Silly girl."

Summer smiled. Tears spilled down her cheeks as she smiled.

The images blurred.

She was so cold. Maybe she could sleep for just a little while...

Fineshed

Suddenly, a voice rang out. It was sharp, commanding, and full of suppressed rage. "Summer! Without my permission, you are not allowed to close your eyes!"

He was here again. Still so domineering. Even when she was freezing, he was still scolding her.

A wave of grievance surged in her chest.

Since he always indulged her, she decided to ignore him this time.

Just for a little while...

At the same time, the warehouse door was kicked open with a deafening crash.

Light from outside flooded in, cutting through the cold darkness and bringing a sliver of warmth.

Wrapped in an aura of unrelenting fury, Fraser strode in.

Merry looked up. She saw A tall figure stood at the doorway.

She blinked.

It's not a dream. Mr. Graham had come. We'll be safe.

Tears blurred her vision as she turned, wanting to wake Summer. But when she

saw Summer's closed eyes, her face drained of all color.

Her voice broke into a sobbing wail. "Mr. Graham, hurry! Summer... she's unconscious!"

Fraser's gaze snapped to the corner of the warehouse. There, curled up on the frozen floor, wast Summer.

Her arms

as wrapped around herself, legs tucked in, head drooped forward. Strands of dark hair cascaded over her face, veiling her pale features.

For a moment, Fraser felt his heart stop. A violent tremor ran through his body. His pupils contracted, his eyes darkening to a terrifying shade of red.

In the next second, he bolted forward, crossing the distance in just a few strides. He knelt down. scooping her into his arms, holding her tightly against his chest.

Her body was ice-cold. So cold that the chill stabbed straight through his bones, piercing his very soul. His heart clenched, twisting with unbearable pain.

desperation. "Summer... Summer... look at me. I'm here."

Damn it. Summer isn't responding.

Finished

Fraser did not dare wait another second. He lifted her in his arms, stood up, and rushed toward the exit.

In her haze, Summer felt warmth. An unfamiliar, enveloping warmth and a scent she knew all too well.

Slowly, she forced her eyes open. A sharp jawline came into focus.

Fraser

Her lips trembled as she whispered weakly, "Fraser... you... scolded me." Fraser was running towards the exit with his arms tightening around her.

At the faint murmur, he suddenly stopped. Lowering his gaze, he looked at her pale, lifeless face.

A sharp pang of pain seared through his chest, an ache so deep it nearly drove him mad. A single tear slipped from his eye, landing on her cold cheek.

His voice was thick with anguish, pleading. "Summer... I won't scold you. Just... don't sleep, alright?"

Summer wanted to tell him she was just tired. That she only needed a little rest. But the exhaustion was overwhelming. She could not hold on any longer. Slowly, she slipped back into the darkness.

Chapter 347

The Fear of Losing Her

Fraser did not dare waste another second. He carried her and rushed out.

Finished

The entire villa was shrouded in a suffocating darkness, a thick, oppressive weight pressing down on everyone's chest.

In the banquet hall, the guests exchanged terrified glances, their faces pale with

fear. Things had escalated beyond control. They could only pray that Mrs. Graham would survive this ordeal.

Because if anything happened to her, with Fraser's madness, his ruthless nature...

If he could single-handedly trap them all here, who knew what else he was capable of? If Summer died, he might hold them accountable. What then?

A chilling sense of dread crept over them.

The Harper family was even more terrified. Their faces were ashen, their bodies frozen in horror.

Who could have predicted that a simple gathering would turn into this? That someone would nearly die in their home?

How do we possibly quell Fraser's wrath?

Morgan forced herself to remain composed, her eyes red as she shot a furious glare at the two trembling women, Sasha and Liliah, who had collapsed to the floor.

Useless fools!

Mike's expression was dark, his voice grave as he commanded, "Retrieve all surveillance footage from the villa. No one is leaving until we find out exactly what happened."

At the hospital, Xavier, clad in a white coat, rushed down the hallway. Behind him,

a team of senior doctors followed closely, their steps hurried and tense.

They entered the emergency room, eyes immediately locking onto the unconscious woman lying on the hospital bed.

Xavier's brows furrowed tightly

"What's the patient's condition?"

The doctors standing nearby exchanged solemn looks before one of them quickly responded. “She's pregnant. But due to prolonged exposure to extreme cold, her body temperature has dropped dangerously low. It's a critical situation. Both mother and child are at severe risk. We need to begin emergency treatment immediately."

Fraser stood beside the bed, his eyes bloodshot. His fingers clutched Summer's cold hand tightly.

His voice was hoarse, slow, and filled with desperation. "Save her, please..." Chapter 347 The Fear of Losing Her

In all the years Xavier had known him, this was a first. And it struck him hard.

Finished

Xavier lifted his gaze. Fraser stood motionless, stiff as a statue, his long lashes casting shadows over his hollow eyes. But the air around him was suffocating. The silence was laced with grief, a dark, deathly stillness that seeped into his very being.

Xavier knew that Fraser was on the brink of collapse. The only thing he could do was ensure Summer's survival.

Because if she did not make it... Even Xavier could not predict what Fraser might do.

Steeling himself, Xavier stepped forward and firmly patted Fraser's shoulder. "Fraser, step outside. Leave this to us."

Fraser did not move. His tall figure remained frozen in place. His dark, ink-like eyes never strayed from Summer's pale face.

The other doctors hesitated.

They had already asked him to leave carlier. But the sheer intensity of his presence, the cold, suffocating rage radiating from him. No one dared insist.

Time was slipping away. Xavier hardened his voice. "Fraser, if you want Summer to live, you need to step out now. Otherwise, I can't guarantee her survival."

The words struck deep. Fraser's grip finally loosened. His gaze turned vacant. His eyes, rimmed with red, glowed with a terrifying, almost beast-like fury. He looked like a trapped animal, drowning in despair.

Without a word, he turned and staggered toward the door.

Xavier followed him, his footsteps heavy.

The moment they reached the doorway, Fraser suddenly spun around. With a swift, violent motion, he grabbed Xavier's collar, his long fingers clenching into the fabric. His bloodshot eyes bore into him, filled with a feral madness.

His voice was low, guttural. "One thing, no matter what happens, save her. She is the priority."

Xavier stiffened. It was the very question he had hesitated to ask just moments ago.

Given Summer's condition, her own life was already hanging by a thread. The child's survival was even more uncertain.

Xavier met his gaze, his own expression grave. He nodded. "I understand."

Then, he turned and stepped into the emergency room.

Outside of the emergency room, the hospital lights were a stark, blinding white. The sharp scent. disinfectant permeated the air, suffocating and sterile. The cold, lifeless glow illuminated the

Fraser's face was shadowed, his eyes dark and bloodshot. The veins at his temples throbbed, a silent testament to the storm raging inside him.

With a sudden, violent motion, he slammed his fist into the wall. Again and again.

His entire body trembled uncontrollably. Blood smeared his knuckles, dripping down his fingers.

Chapter 348

I'll Leave the World With You

When Mike arrived, he saw Fraser sitting there, frozen in time. His face was streaked with dried tears, his bloodied fists hanging at his sides, completely numb. He was oblivious to the pain and oblivious to everything around him.

If not for the faint rise and fall of his chest, Mike would have thought he had frozen solid

well.

He stepped forward and respectfully reported, "Mr. Graham, we've reviewed the surveillance footage. Your wife was lured into the storage room using Merry as bait. Then, the ice cellar door was deliberately opened. The culprit is Morgan's fifty-year-old nanny. She has confessed."

Mike continued, "She said she felt sorry for Morgan being forced to apologize to Mrs. Graham during the banquet. She only wanted to teach her a lesson. She had no idea Mrs. Graham was pregnant. Her plan was to let her freeze for an hour or two before letting her out."

Upon hearing this, Fraser's sharp brows twitched slightly, his already chilling aura growing even colder.

Mike hesitated. "How do you want to handle this?"

After a long pause, Fraser's bloodshot eyes turned dark and ruthless. His deep voice was eerily calm. laced with a terrifying cruelty, like a whisper from the depths of hell. "Throw her into the ice cellar. Don't let her out."

Mike understood instantly.

An eye for an eye.

She would die in the same cold, merciless way she had planned for Summer.

He wanted to say something, but when he saw the lifelessness in Fraser's expression and the deathly silence surrounding him, he swallowed his words.

Nothing would matter until Summer woke up. Mike then left the hospital.

Time blurred into an agonizing eternity. At last, the doors of the emergency room slowly slid

open.

Fraser's thick lashes trembled. His dark eyes flickered, the panic and fear in them unmistakable. His usual composure was gone.

Xavier approached, exhaustion weighing heavily on his frame. His voice was slow, steady. "Summer's condition is somewhat stabilized. But she's still in a critical observation period. Tonight is crucial. If she wakes up, the baby will survive. But if she doesn't..."

He did not finish the sentence..

If she didn't wake up, everything would be gone.

unbearable longing. He gently pressed Summer's cold, delicate hand against his own face, as if trying to warm her through sheer will.

She was so pale. Even her lips, once so soft and rosy, were now a stark, lifeless pale. No matter how tightly he held her, she remained unbearably cold.

His black eyes were locked onto her still face. He spoke in suppressed emotion, "I haven't even proposed yet. Aren't you curious about how I'd do it?" His voice was hoarse and bitter.

The room was deathly silent.

Summer lay motionless, her long lashes casting faint shadows over her cheeks.

Fraser let out a quiet, bitter laugh. His voice cracked. "You're really cruel, Summer. But it's fine. If you don't like this world anymore, then I'll leave it with you."

Meanwhile, in another hospital room....

When Fraser had brought Summer to the hospital, Mike had also arranged for the unconscious Merry to be admitted.

Since she was not pregnant, her condition was not as dire. Her body temperature had returned to normal after emergency treatment. But her legs were still stiff, and her movements were slow.

Even so, she could not sit still. She had to see Summer.

She struggled to her feet and made her way toward the VIP ward.

Two towering bodyguards in black suits stood guard at the door. Merry had no

choice but to stand outside, helplessly peering in.

Inside, she saw the noble and untouchable Mr. Graham sitting perfectly still by the bed.

Like a statue. His eyes never strayed from Summer, not even for a second.

Before heading to Summer's ward, Merry had asked the doctors about Summer's condition. Knowing that the prognosis was not good made her heart sink into a bottomless pit.

Now, seeing Summer in person. She was so pale, so lifeless. She felt like having a knife driven through her chest. Tears spilled down her face uncontrollably.

Her voice trembled with guilt and despair. "I'm sorry. It's all my fault. If it weren't

for me, Summer wouldn't be like this. I'm sorry... I'm so sorry... Summer, please wake up..."

Her sobs echoed down the cold hospital corridor.

Fraser remained motionless. His expression did not change. His dark, unfathomable eyes never wavered from Summer. She was the only thing in his world.

Merry took a shaky step forward. "Can I see her? Even just for a moment..."

And then, a single, merciless word fell from Fraser's lips. "Leave."

His voice was like an arctic wind, freezing everything in its path.

If Summer were not still lying there, if he did not know she would be angry, he would have killed her already.

The raw, murderous intent radiating from him sent a violent shiver down Merry's spine.

She had already harmed Summer twice.

live either. I'll go and atone for my sins."

Fraser's dark eyes held no warmth. His expression was indifferent, his voice cold enough to freeze the air. "And what good would that do? Even if you died a hundred times, it wouldn't make up for her lying here."

Summer would not wake up just because of that.

The two bodyguards understood his intentions immediately. They stepped forward, grabbed Merry by the arms, and dragged her out of the room.

Silence fell over the VIP ward once again, broken only by the sharp, rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor.

Fraser sat quietly by the hospital bed, his black eyes locked onto Summer's still figure.

Her lips were dry, like withered rose petals.

His heart clenched.

Reaching out, he carefully placed her delicate hand back under the blanket and stood up. intending to get a towel to wipe her face..

But just as he turned, something soft, something impossibly light, tugged at his hand from behind.

He froze. A tremor ran through his body, a tidal wave of emotions crashing into his chest.

Fraser's breath hitched. He whipped around, his sharp gaze locking onto the fragile woman lying on the bed.

Slowly, ever so slowly, Summer's lashes fluttered open.

Her face was still deathly pale, but those beautiful eyes of hers now held a faint glimmer of life. They were no longer shut, no longer devoid of breath.

She tried to smile, but she was too weak. All she could manage was the faintest curve of her lips.

"...You're so noisy."

The second he heard her voice, Fraser slammed the emergency call button on the wall.

Summer gazed up at him. His face was weary, his eyes rimmed with red. Dark circles shadowed his gaze, exhaustion etched into every inch of his features. Yet even so, he was still devastatingly handsome.

She let out a quiet hum. "I was afraid... If I didn't wake up, you'd be mad at me."

Something lodged itself in Fraser's throat, making it hard to breathe. His lashes quivered. He had so much to say. But in the end, only one word left his lips, "Silly."

Not long after, Xavier arrived with the doctor.

In fact, he had been waiting at the hospital all night.

Xavier stepped forward and carefully examined Summer. Seeing her vitals return

to normal, he finally exhaled the breath he had been holding.

The tension that had strung him up all night finally eased.

But Summer's body was still weak.

Xavier ordered a nurse to administer an IV drip. It was the kind that would not affect the baby.

Removing his stethoscope, Xavier turned to Fraser and patted him on his shoulder. "She's okay

now."

Yet Fraser's gaze never wavered. Even as the doctor examined her, he never looked away from Summer, not even for a second.

Xavier sighed and quietly led the medical staff out, closing the door behind him, leaving personal space for them.

Fraser stepped closer, his fingers gently wrapping around hers. His dark eyes bore into her, intense and unwavering.

Summer's gaze softened. Her dark pupils shimmered as she looked back at him.

They simply stared at each other for a long time.

Finally, Summer spoke, her voice raspy. "I had a dream."

Fraser's expression darkened. His voice was low. "What did you dream about?”

"You were scolding me." Her tone carried a hint of grievance, her voice soft and sweet.

Fraser's obsidian eyes gleamed. He reached out, the pad of his thumb tracing her pale face, sweeping over her brows, then pausing at her lips. "Then when you get better, you can punish

Summer's lashes fluttered. "I couldn't bear to."

A sharp pain pierced Fraser's chest. A single tear slipped from the corner of his eye, falling heavily onto her skin.

Summer felt the coolness at her neck. She saw the slight dampness at the corners of his eyes and the redness at the tip of his nose.

Her heart ached.

Even in her hazy dreams, she had heard him.

She had heard him whispering, telling her he would follow her, no matter where she went.

She had been terrified. She did not want him to follow her into the darkness. So she had fought.

She had clawed her way back to consciousness, just to stop him and tell him, 'No, you're not allowed. I won't let you!.

And finally... finally, she woke up.

Reaching up, Summer's delicate fingers brushed over his strong brow, tracing the lines of his face. Her voice was soft, tinged with guilt. "I'm sorry... for making you worry."

Fraser held her hand tighter, his gaze drilling into her soul. His voice was deep and firm, leaving no room for argument. "If you ever do this again... then kill me first."

Summer's eyes turned red, tears welling up at the corners. Her lips trembled. "You're scolding me again."

Fraser gently wiped the tears spilling from Summer's eyes, his fingers brushing over her damp. checks. But the more he wiped, the more they fell. Like glistening pearls, they rolled down one after another.

Fraser sighed in resignation.

How had he been the one to scold her? She had nearly taken his life along with hers, and was the one calling him harsh?

"What did I say?"

"The part about killing you." She never wants to hear those words ever again. Fraser lowered his gaze, his deep, penetrating eyes locking onto hers. The rippling brightness. within them stirred something in his chest.

"Promise me," he said, voice low, "this will never happen again."

Summer hesitated for only a second before nodding. “Mm.”

"In your heart," Fraser continued, "who is the most important?"

A faint smile curved her lips. "You."

Something dark and unreadable flashed across Fraser's eyes, He reached out, stroking her forehead lightly. His voice, rich and deep, carried a rare tenderness. "Get some rest. I'm right here."

Summer was still weak from just waking up, and exhaustion soon washed over her. Knowing he was by her side, the familiar scent of cedarwood surrounding her, she felt safe. Her eyelids fluttered closed, and within moments, she drifted into slumber.

Her long lashes cast faint shadows on her pale cheeks, her breathing soft and steady. She looked. peaceful, delicate like a small, sleeping kitten.

She was only sleeping.

Yet Fraser sat there, watching her through the night, never once closing his eyes.

At dawn, Xavier arrived, leading a team of expert physicians into the ward.

As Summer's primary doctor, he personally oversaw all of her examinations. Even the blood tests he insisted on drawing them himself

The entire hospital knew that the VIP ward on the top floor housed someone of extraordinary

status.

An entire floor had been reserved solely for her.

Nearly a dozen bodyguards stood watch, ensuring that no outsiders could disturb her.

Reviewing the latest medical report from the night before, Xavier gave a slight nod. "Her recovery is going well."

He turned to Summer and advised, "Summer, your legs may feel stiff and unresponsive for a while. Try not to walk too much just yet. Once circulation fully returns, the swelling and stiffness will gradually subside."

Summer gave a polite nod. Thank you." She knew Xavier was being so attentive because of Fraser.

Once the examination was complete, Xavier stepped outside to discuss the results with Fraser. The two men spoke briefly at the door before Fraser reentered the room.

With the doctors gone, the rest of the day passed in quiet monotony.

Summer remained confined to the bed, practically treated as a national treasure. She lay flat at first, then sat up slightly, then reclined at an angle. But no matter what, she wasn't allowed to leave the bed. After an entire day and night of lying down, every inch of her body ached.

Meanwhile, Fraser sat lazily on the sofa, one leg crossed over the other, a tablet in hand as he handled company affairs.

Every so often, he would glance up at her.

Whenever her foot so much as grazed the floor, she would immediately feel his intense, piercing gaze land on her. She forced a sheepish smile, then quickly and obediently tucked her leg back onto the bed, pretending nothing had happened.

Fraser had been anxious and restless the night she woke up. But since then, he had returned to his usual, composed self. His expression was unreadable, and his emotions were veiled.

Every now and then, their eyes would meet.

She would stare into the endless depths of his gaze, dark as the night sky, yet illuminated like the pale glow of the moon. Distant, yet luminous.

Just as she found herself sinking into that darkness, he would always be the first to look

Fraser was considerate and meticulous. His gentleness was flawless. The only thing that felt off was his lack of expression.

Summer had a vague suspicion that he was still upset.

By midday, a maid knocked on the door and entered, pushing in a cart of food.

Fraser placed his tablet aside, rising with his usual air of effortless elegance.

The maid brought the meal to the bedside and swiftly exited the room.

Seating himself beside her, Fraser picked up a delicate porcelain bowl filled with a light, nourishing chicken and bird's nest soup. A faint golden layer of oil shimmered on the surface.

He used a spoon to carefully skim off the excess oil, ensuring only the purest broth remained. Then, he scooped up a spoonful, blew on it gently to cool it, and brought it to her lips.

Summer glanced at the spoonful of soup before obediently opening her mouth to take a sip. It was smooth, fragrant, and incredibly rich in flavor. Clearly it was the result of hours of slow simmering.

Fraser scooped up another spoonful, cooled it, and fed it to her again.
