Ch. 1371..1380
Loving You In Secret Chapter 1371-Vicky stored the medicine away safely. "Thanks.
Harvey leaned against the sofa nonchalantly. "Glad to be of help."
After chatting for a while, Vicky's phone rang. Her eyes lit up with glee when she saw who was calling. A few seconds later, she answered the call.
"What are you doing right now?" came the voice from the other end of the call.
Vicky's expression softened in delight. "I'm working," she said softly. "Are you done with your meeting?"
"Yup. Where do you want to go for lunch later?" Tyler replied.
"I don't know. Do you have anything you're craving for?"
"A new restaurant just opened near your studio. Let's go give it a try."
Checking the time, Vicky noted that it was an hour away from lunch break. "Are you going to pick me up later?"
Tyler was silent for a few seconds before answering, "I'm already outside your studio."
Vicky was shocked. "What? You're already outside?"
"Yup."
Vicky silently glanced at Harvey before looking at her phone again.
Noting her silence, Tyler asked gruffly, "Aren't you going to open the door for me?"
"O...kay."
Vicky looked at Harvey, who was playing with his phone, after hanging up. "Harvey, Tyler's here."
Harvey raised an eyebrow. "Don't tell me you want me to hide?"
"No, you don't have to do that," replied Vicky. She did have the brief impulse to ask him to hide when Tyler called, but then again, there was nothing going on between her and Harvey. It would look more suspicious if she asked him to hide.
On the other hand, she was worried Tyler would think otherwise since he always had a prejudice against Harvey.
Vicky got up. "Stay here while I open the door for him."
Harvey raised his brow and said nothing.
A few minutes later, Vicky walked back into her studio with Tyler. The latter paused for a second when he saw someone sitting on the sofa.
"You have a guest?"
"Yes. Harvey was passing by and thought he'd visit," Vicky explained softly.
Tyler looked at Harvey and narrowed his eyes. "What a rare visitor," he muttered emotionlessly. "I would've brought a
gift if I knew you were coming, Mister Sparks."
Harvey got up with a smile. "There's no need to be so formal. Mister Hart. Vicky and I go way back, so we can do away with the gifts."
"You must talk to Vicky quite frequently since you know where her new studio is," said Tyler indifferently. "I'll leave your gift here. You can pick it up next time you drop by."
Smiling faintly, he then turned to Vicky. "What do you think, Vicky?"
Vicky’s forehead started to sweat. Harvey came to deliver the medicine, but she could not tell him that. However, if she did not, it would seem like she and Harvey had too much time on their hands that they were secretly meeting behind Tyler's back.
"The only reason I knew Vicky moved to a new studio was because Cece posted it on her account. Tyler, if you're jealous, just say so. There's really no need for you to be so passive-aggressive. You're making it sound like Vicky and I are having an affair," said Harvey.
Loving You In Secret Chapter 1372-Tyler looked at Harvey coldly. "I trust Vicky; I just don't trust the people around her. She's just too trusting for her good, so it falls to me to protect her from people with impure thoughts."
Harvey's smile never faltered. "I'm curious, Mister Hart. Just what kind of impure thoughts are you talking about?"
"For example, feelings that one keeps deep inside his heart because he knew confessing them would bring trouble?" said Tyler while looking straight into his eyes.
Harvey's eyes widened with shock.
Sensing the tension in the air, Vicky hurriedly said, "Hey, aren't we going for lunch? You say you want to go check out the new restaurant, right?"
Tyler glanced at Vicky's panicked expression and smiled." Why don't you join us, Mister Sparks? It's not every day I get to bump into you."
His invitation was so unexpected that it surprised both Vicky and Harvey. Vicky looked at Harvey, praying he would turn down the invitation.
"Don't mind if I do. After all, it's not every day I get a lunch invitation from you, Mister Hart. And what perfect timing too because I'm starving, considering I didn't have any breakfast, " Harvey answered with a smile.
Vicky was speechless. 'Looks like Harvey didn't learn his lesson at all. Has he forgotten how Tyler injured his arm?'
Half an hour later, the three of them arrived at the restaurant. The two men immediately attracted a lot of attention, given how handsome and tall they both were.
"Oh my god! Those two guys are smokin' hot!"
"Eep! That cool-looking guy is just my type!"
"The other guy has a bad-boy vibe, which is totally my type!"
"Well, there's no use fawning over him. Can't you see he has a girlfriend? And she's quite pretty, too! They look like a match made in heaven standing there together."
Someone finally noticed Vicky.
"Nah, I think she's the cool guy's girlfriend. They look more suitable for each other."
"No, she looks more suitable for the other guy. I'm pretty sure she's his girlfriend since the cool guy looks like he's quite difficult to get along with. He can't possibly have a girlfriend."
"Fine, let's make a bet and see whose girlfriend she really is."
"You're on! I bet on the bad boy with the devil-may-care smile."
"I bet on the cool guy!"
Gossip spread across the tables like wildfire. That was until they saw Tyler hold Vicky's hand and put his arm around her waist to demonstrate whose woman she was.
The people who bet on Harvey immediately became disappointed.
"So she's really the cool guy's girlfriend... What a pity."
"Why is it a pity? Didn't you see how his eyes softened when he looked at her? His eyes never left her from the moment they stepped into the restaurant. It's like everyone else doesn't exist for him."
"But the same can be said for the other guy... Just look at the way he's looking at her with so much love in his eyes."
The three of them sat under the watchful gaze of all the other diners.
Vicky and Tyler sat together while Harvey sat across from Tyler. After looking through the menu, Vicky ordered two dishes.
Harvey, however, did not order anything even after leafing through the menu.
"Is the food here not to your liking, Mister Sparks?" Tyler asked before Vicky could say anything.
"I've been out of the country for so long that I don't know what's good in the restaurants here," replied Harvey. He then turned to Vicky and smiled cheekily. "Why don't you recommend a few dishes to me, Vicky? You know best what I like to eat."
A dangerous glint flashed across Tyler's eyes, though he looked outwardly unperturbed.
Loving You In Secret Chapter 1373-"I never expected the suave Mister Sparks to be a big baby who doesn't even know how to order his food." Tyler passed the menu to Vicky. “If that's the case, we should do our best to take care of this overgrown baby. Right, Vicky?"
Harvey was not offended at all. "I might be a big baby who doesn't know how to order my own food, but it's better than someone who insists on keeping someone else tied to him every hour of the day. Even kindergarteners have some time away from their mommies. I pity Vicky; she can't seem to take a breather at all."
"That's because the relationship between them is that of a mother and child, whereas Vicky and I are wife and husband. I pity the fool who can only do some passive- aggressive things to attract attention," remarked Tyler callously.
Vicky was so worried they would end up fighting each other that she hurriedly cut in, ''I'm just going to randomly order another two dishes since Harvey doesn't know what to get!"
Functioning under the pressure, Vicky ordered two more dishes, making sure to avoid things that Harvey could not take.
"Vicky, I'm so glad you still remember what I like to eat, even though so many years have passed," cooed the starry-eyed Harvey after the waiter had left.
'He just doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut, huh?' grumbled Vicky, choosing to ignore his remark.
"I can just imagine you jumping out of your grave to greet Vicky whenever she goes to visit you at the cemetery," said Tyler indifferently.
Vicky was stumped to hear such a remark.
Harvey nodded. "Yup. I might just come back from the dead, too."
"Is that so? Is that why there are so many stories of ghost haunting going around?"
This time, instead of fighting with his fists, Tyler decided to fight Harvey with his words.
Vicky was starting to get a migraine by then, so it was a good thing the waiter came with their food.
Ah, I can finally eat in peace,' she sighed.
Suddenly, her phone rang just when she was about to finish her lunch.
She glanced at the caller ID before answering the call." What's up, Cece?"
"Vicky, are you free now?"
Vicky could tell there was something off with Cece from her voice. "What's the matter, Cece?"
"Something happened to Jennifer!"
Both Cece and Jennifer did not come to the studio that day as they had to meet some clients outside.
"Something happened to Jennifer?!" Vicky's expression changed. "Where are you girls now? I'll go there right away."
"We're at the hospital," choked Cece.
Vicky immediately got up. "Okay, don't worry. I'll be there right away."
After hanging up the phone, Vicky turned to Tyler and Harvey.
"Something happened to Jennifer, and I need to see her," she said in a strained tone.
"I'll go with you," said Tyler and Harvey at the same time.
The two men exchanged cold glances.
Harvey picked up his car keys from the table. "I'll drive you two there since neither of you drove here."
As a clean freak, Tyler did not like strangers sitting in his car. Thus, Harvey was the one who drove them to the restaurant.
Vicky did not have the luxury of weighing her options since she was in a hurry to go to the hospital.
"Okay, we'll go in your car," she said.
Tyler's eyes darkened slightly, but he did not say anything.
The three of them soon came to the hospital. Vicky could hear Jennifer sobbing her heart out from outside the ward door.
She quickly went in. "Jennifer, are you okay?"
"Vicky..." Jennifer's eyes were red. "I just found out I've misunderstood Anthony... He was under someone else's hypnotic control," she feebly spoke.
Loving You In Secret Chapter 1374-"He was under someone else's hypnotic control? What does that mean?" asked Vicky, stunned.
Jennifer's eyes reddened even more as she explained everything to Vicky.
"I sensed something was off with Anthony a long time ago. We grew up together, and he's never mistreated me before. But, he became like a different person whenever Lily was around; he'd always take her side unconditionally.
"Whenever I fought with Lily, Anthony would always make me apologize to her no matter who was wrong or right. His preferential treatment toward her was so obvious. But then I found out..."
Jennifer balled her hands into fists and gritted her teeth, an expression rarely found on her beautiful face.
"Someone hypnotized Anthony when he was kidnapped, and Lily...was the mastermind all along."
Vicky had heard this story from Jennifer before. Both Anthony and Lily were kidnapped when they were young. Their bond became stronger after they spent a few days together as hostages. One day, when the kidnapper decided to kill them, Lily sacrificed herself in exchange for Anthony's life.
Anthony's parents rescued him while he was unconscious while Lily was nowhere to be found. Since then, Lily had
always held a special place in Anthony's heart, and he never stopped looking for her. The gods must have pitied him because he eventually found her one day.
"What do you mean, Lily was the mastermind behind the kidnapping?" Vicky asked.
Tears fell from Jennifer's eyes. Her voice trembled as she explained, "She was the one who planned the kidnapping so she could become closer to him. She wanted Anthony to remember her forever, and that's why she pretended to sacrifice herself for him.
"To ensure that the plan was foolproof, Lily got someone to hypnotize Anthony. The hypnotist kept planting the idea in Anthony's mind that he fell in love with Lily because she saved his life. Anthony was still young then, so his willpower wasn't as strong as it is now... The idea naturally took root in his head.
"Anthony's parents and I never realized anything about this because Lily wasn't in the picture for such a long time. That was...until many years later. She must've thought the time was ripe for her to show up in front of Anthony again."
Vicky was aware of everything that happened after that.
Lily needed a kidney transplant, and Jennifer happened to be a match for her. Thus, Anthony came to ask Jennifer for the favor, but he ran away in a fit of anger after she refused. The whole thing caused a big ruckus, and their parents inevitably had to get involved.
After that, it was discovered the whole thing was just a huge misunderstanding. The doctor had mixed up the reports, so Lily was fine after all.
Even so, this matter made it very clear whose side Anthony was on from there on.
Loving You In Secret Chapter 1375-Jennifer wiped away her tears. "Anthony is so good to me when Lily's not around. Thus, even though I knew he'd forget me once Lily came back, I still can't help but have feelings for him...
"Last time, after Anthony helped me and Cece leave the city, he told me his feelings for Lily weren't what everybody thinks it was. He doesn't love her, yet he'd be unable to control himself whenever he sees her in trouble."
Jennifer's eyes dulled by then.
"I’d always forgive Anthony 'cause I can't bear to see him sad. That was, until that one time... We went to a yacht party, and he chose to save Lily instead of me when we both fell into the sea. I gave up on him after that, and I blocked him out of my life.
"But it wasn't long before I heard from my parents that Anthony decided to cut ties with his family because of Lily.
"My dad also said the Yavners are loyal people. Anthony's dad nearly went mad because of a woman, and it seemed like Anthony was following in his dad's footsteps.
"A new client contacted me not long ago, but it...was Anthony. I didn't want to make business dealings with him, but he asked me how I could mix business with personal matters. I'd be hurting the studio's profit if I did that, and that'd make me a bad employee.
"After thinking about it, I decided to take his business. I have no choice but to resume contact with him to discuss the designs, though I made sure to keep it professional. This leads us to what happened this afternoon.
"I found out he was undergoing more hypnotization from Lily when I went to deliver the finished clothing to him. I overheard Lily talking to her friend from the door. It turns out this was all Lily’s plot against Anth-no, the entire downfall of the Yavners."
"Why does Lily hate the Yavners so much?" Vicky asked.
Lily shook her head. "I'm not too sure about it, but I heard Lily say something about how her mother died at the hands of Anthony's father... So as revenge, she wanted the Yavners to be left without anything.
"I gasped when I heard that, and that's how they knew I was there. I ran away as quickly as I could, but Lily still caught me. Anthony saved me just when she was about to kill me..."
Jennifer hung her head low. "Even though he acts like a dirtbag whenever Lily is around, he never once wanted me dead. It's thanks to him that I escaped."
Vicky understood everything then. She looked at Jennifer." Even if you know the truth, you can't just break it to Anthony so suddenly. He'll never believe you. Plus, Lily would surely come up with a countermeasure now that she knows you know."
"I know." Jennifer looked desolate. "To be honest, I don't know what I should do either."
The hypnotization effect seemed to have kicked in again. Anthony might have saved her, but his attitude cooled toward her after that. He even returned the clothes she made for him. Thus, Jennifer knew he would never believe a word she said-not when Lily was concerned.
"You can try to undo the hypnotization effect first before telling him the truth. This way, that Lily woman won't be able to control him anymore," said Harvey suddenly.
Jennifer's eyes immediately lit up. "That... That might work!"
Loving You In Secret Chapter 1376-However, Jennifer's eyes dimmed swiftly.
"But Lily will never let me get close to Anthony now that she knows I've overheard what she said. Besides, it'll take some time to undo the hypnotization effect," she said with a frown. "He's been hypnotized since he was young, so I imagine it'd be very hard to undo it."
"I did some research on hypnotization before," drawled Harvey. "It will be quite hard to undo the effects when he had been hypnotized for so long. In fact, I'd reckon it'd take at least a year or so if the hypnotist is a very good one. And there's one other thing...
"Anthony won't be that easily hypnotized now as compared to when he was younger. What Lily is doing now is just driving in the message she planted in his head. In other words, she's not trying to plant new ideas. It'll be hard to undo the effects."
Harvey looked at Jennifer. "I suggest you team up with Anthony's parents on this to have a higher chance of succeeding. Make sure he's not spending time with Lily while he's receiving treatment, or your efforts will be in vain."
Jennifer nodded thoughtfully. "Thank you, Harvey. I'll take everything you said into my plan."
Harvey smiled. "I know a few friends who are amazing hypnotists. Shall I recommend them to you?"
"Really?" Jennifer's expression lit up with hope.
Harvey nodded with a smile. "Yeah. You can find me anytime you need help. Vicky and I go way back, so her friend is my friend too."
Jennifer was grateful to Harvey.
After talking to Jennifer for a bit more, Vicky decided it was time forthem to go.
Seeing this, Harvey said, "Vicky, let me give you a ride back since neither you nor Mister Hart drove here."
Tyler narrowed his eyes. "I've already called for a car, so no need for all that trouble."
They walked out of the hospital and saw Harry's car waiting. Tyler had stepped out of the ward and called him so he would not have to spend a minute longer with Harvey than he had to.
Vicky turned to Harvey. "I guess this is where we say goodbye. And, oh, thanks for all your help today."
Harvey did not insist anymore. He glanced at Tyler before smiling charmingly at Vicky. "Oh, there's no need to thank me. We're friends after all."
Vicky decided to quickly get out of there when she saw Tyler's worsening expression. She dragged Tyler into the car after saying goodbye to Harvey.
The car engine started, and Harvey stood as he watched their car drive away.
Even though Harvey was not with them, the atmosphere in the car felt stifling. Vicky turned to look at Tyler-who was the source of the uneasiness-and held his hand. However, he shook her hand off with a poker face.
Vicky tried to reach for his hand again, but he simply moved his hand away.
After a few more tries, Vicky asked helplessly, "Are you angry?"
"No," Tyler replied emotionlessly.
Vicky tried to explain herself, "I didn't mean to hide it from you. I didn't even know he would be dropping by. Plus, he hasn't even been there for a minute before you came..."
"Would you have told me he came to find you if I didn't happen to come at the same time?" interrupted Tyler." Would you have gone to lunch with him?"
"Yes, I would've told you, and no, I wouldn’t have gone to lunch with him!" Vicky laced her fingers tightly with his. "I swear, nothing is going on between us. And I've never even liked him. The only reason I agreed to marry him back then was because he was a convenient human shield."
Tyler said nothing, but he did not shake off her hand either.
Loving You In Secret Chapter 1377-Vicky continued, "My parents wanted to marry me off to another family to gain business favors. So, instead of letting them decide my life, I thought I'd be better off marrying-"
"Marrying someone you like?" interrupted Tyler.
After a few seconds of silence, Vicky sighed and said, "No. Harvey was trying to chase Gloria at that time. I knew he didn’t like me, nor would he ever. My family had a lot of business dealings with his family back then, so to cement their business relationship, my family and his family persistently tried to set up Harvey and Gloria together. However, Gloria put up a fierce struggle, and the two of them never ended up together.
"I went to find Harvey to put forth my proposal." Vicky glanced at Tyler. "By the way, did you decide to chase Gloria after finding out she turned down so many excellent men for you? Were you moved by her gesture?"
Tyler was speechless. It would take them more than three days and three nights to talk about who wronged who if they insisted on going down this rabbit hole.
Vicky had no intention of questioning everything. After thinking it over, she said, "My heart has always been yours."
She had never loved anyone else other than Tyler. To be more accurate, he never gave her the chance to love anyone else other than him. This was made more apparent when he made him her wife.
Tyler's expression finally softened a little.
"Are you going back to your office?" Vicky asked.
"Mister Hart needs to sign some contracts later," said Harry, who was driving the car.
"Then I won't follow him. Please send me home," said Vicky to Harry. Then, she turned to Tyler. "I'm free this afternoon, so I can cook dinner for you. Are you coming home for dinner?"
Tyler nodded. "Yeah."
"I'll be waiting for you, then."
After dropping Vicky off, Harry drove Tyler to another company building.
The contract signing went smoothly since both parties had gone over the deal beforehand. The other party invited Tyler to dinner, but he turned them down.
"I'm sorry, but I'll be eating at home tonight," he said.
The other party decided to let it go at that.
However, just when Tyler was about to leave, a woman called out to him. "Tyler, do you want to grab a bite with me? It
Immediately after, a beautiful woman appeared before him.
Tyler simply glanced at her before stepping to the side to walk past her. It was obvious he did not want to talk to her at all.
The woman turned around and said, "I have something important to tell you."
She gritted her teeth when she saw Tyler not pausing in his tracks the slightest.
"It's about Vicky and Harvey!"
Tyler slowed down considerably, but he did not turn to look at her.
Realizing that Tyler was not fully focused, Avery decided to use her trump card. "Tyler, do you know Vicky already knows you've recovered your memory?"
Tyler finally stopped walking.
Avery smiled smugly. She took out a voice recorder and played a recording.
Loving You In Secret Chapter 1378-A familiar voice was heard from the voice recorder.
"Even though Tyler is using memory loss to cover his real problem, it won't be that hard for those who meant him
harm to find out the truth soon enough. Plus, if word gets out about this, they'll find ways to test or trigger him, so it'll be easy to expose him.”
The alluring deep voice belonged to a man, and it took Tyler no time to recognize it as Harvey's.
Next, came a woman's hesitant albeit familiar voice.
"How did you..." It sounded like she was unsure whether she should ask her question.
"The medicines you've asked me to look into," came Harvey's voice again. "I can't think of anyone other than Tyler using it."
"You based your guess on this point alone?"
"Vicky, do you even know how long you've been accompanying him to work? No normal couple does that. Let me put this another way: Why did he suddenly need you to go to work with him when he didn't used to in the past?"
"So you were aware of what was happening all along."
"Is Tyler going to any therapy right now?"
"No. He doesn't want to see doctors."
"Does he know about his condition?"
"He doesn't believe there's anything wrong with him."
"Have you two talked about his memory loss?"
"No. Even now, he thinks I don't know anything about it."
The recording ended there.
Tyler's pupils shrank, and his breathing became erratic when he heard the conversation between Vicky and Harvey. He pursed his lips into a taut line and balled his hands into fists.
Avery had been observing Tyler throughout the whole recording, but she barely saw any changes in his expression save the small flash of emotion in his eyes. His expression remained neutral, which disabled her from knowing what he was thinking about.
She could not hold back anymore. 'Tyler, everyone knows about what you're going through while they all kept you in the dark. Do you know Vicky has been meeting up with Harvey behind your back?
"And the medicine they’re talking about? My guess is Vicky has been feeding you the medicine. The two of them must be plotting to hurt you!"
Tyler's gaze was unforgiving. "Avery, that's not even the full conversation, and you know it. Besides, what's to say the voice recording isn't fake at all? Do you really think it'll be that easy to drive a wedge between Vicky and me?"
"Tyler, I heard what they said. I was so shocked, and by the
time I thought of recording them, it was too late.” Avery looked at Tyler seriously. "Tyler, I'm willing to bet my life that this recording is real. I’ll never do something like faking a recording."
As if to make her words more believable, she put the voice recorder into Tyler's hand. "If you don't believe me, you can get an IT guy to analyze whether I've tampered with the recording or whether it's real," she said confidently.
Tyler looked at the voice recorder in his hand silently.
Seeing this, Avery nearly jumped in glee. 'He didn't throw away the voice recorder, so that must've meant he's getting suspicious of Vicky and Harvey too. He might not believe me now, but it'll be easier to carry out the next part of my plan now that the idea has been planted in his mind.'
Thinking back to the preparation she had done for a month, she became even more confident about Tyler. However, she made sure to keep her expression sincere while she said," Tyler, Vicky has lied to you. The person she loves all along has always been Harvey. Everyone knew she was the one who chased after him first. You'll only need to ask around to know I'm telling the truth."
Loving You In Secret Chapter 1379-"I don't have the full picture of what happened in the past, but Vicky told Harvey everything when he asked about your memory loss. This just proves how much she trusts him. Moreover, they seem to think you're sick in some other way and have been feeding you other kinds of medicine without you knowing it.
"If you ask me, these are just excuses for Vicky to poison you. She won't stop until you're dead, Tyler! I even heard from your mother that Vicky tried to poison you five years ago. She would've gotten her way if your family didn't bring you home and give you the antidote.
"Now, she's trying to do the same thing again! As revenge for putting Harvey behind bars and to get all your fortunes so she could be happy with Harvey! She'll kill you if this continues!"
Tyler heard everything Avery said. However, as a shrewd man, he would never fall for her trap.
That was until he remembered Vicky put something into his soup before serving it to him that one morning. He was suspicious of her initially, but his trust in her won in the end. He thus assumed she merely added some seasonings to his soup.
Then there was all the milk she had him drink every night...
Vicky's suspicious behavior came rushing back into his mind once the seed of suspicion had been planted, causing him to feel like his head was going to explode.
Avery jumped up in fright when she saw the pained expression on Tyler's face. She immediately went to hold him up. "Tyler, are you okay?"
Tyler pushed her away roughly. "Get lost!"
The look of hurt flashed through Avery's eyes. "Tyler, I wasn't lying to you..."
"Get lost!" repeated Tyler in a harsher tone.
Though reluctant, Avery decided to leave since she had achieved her goal. She took out a document from her bag and put it into Tyler’s hand.
"Tyler, this isn't the only evidence I have. You'd do well to go through the document if you want to live."
She then turned around, but a malicious smirk spread across her face soon after. She then walked out of the office.
It was already seven o'clock at night.
Vicky kept checking her phone worriedly. She had called Tyler a few times, but he never answered. 'He did say he'd come home for dinner, didn't he?'
The food on the table was already cold, yet Tyler never called back. The fear that something bad had happened to him overtook Vicky.
Just when she was about to call Harry, she heard the foyer door opening.
She immediately went to welcome Tyler home. The foyer was dimly lit by a single light, causing Tyler to look a little blurry.
"Tyler, why are you home so late?" she asked while walking over to him.
Tyler's hand, which was taking off his shoe, froze midair.
"Something came up at work, so I stayed a bit later to deal with it," he replied emotionlessly.
Loving You In Secret Chapter 1380-"Then why didn't you answer any of my calls?” Vicky asked worriedly. "I thought something bad happened to you. Do you even know how worried sick I was?"
"You were worried sick about me...?"
"Of course!"
"But why? It's not like I'm sick. I just came back a little late, that's all."
Tyler's response sounded off to Vicky. "Any wife would be worried if her husband went missing for an hour..." Her tone got softer. "Not to mention, the food has gone cold now."
"Did you cook the food yourself?"
"Yeah. I thought I told you I was going to cook for you this afternoon."
Tyler fell silent.
Vicky frowned. 'He’s been acting a bit off since coming home.'
"Tyler, are you okay? Did someth! ng...upset you?" she asked cautiously.
"Work isn't going all that great. That's all," he answered indifferently.
Vicky decided not to pursue the matter after that. "Why don't you change into something more comfortable while I heat
the food?"
"Okay."
10 minutes later, Tyler came down with a change of clothing.
A delicious aroma wafted from the reheated food. Vicky was a very good cook, and the scent of the food alone was enough to whet anyone's appetite.
Tyler glanced at the food on the table. "You've been cooking more often lately."
Vicky was puzzled by Tyler's odd remark. "Well, you did say you like my cooking, so I thought I'd cook more for you since I have so much free time on my hands. Besides, I'm worried you'll forget my cooking if I don't cook more often."
Tyler's eyes deepened slightly as he smirked at her. "So much free time? But you've been going to your studio quite often lately. You must be busy, right?"
Vicky's expression faltered slightly. 'There's definitely something very off here.'
"What's the matter? You don't like me cooking for you anymore?"
"No. That's not it." Tyler picked up his fork and started eating the food on his plate. "I'm just saying that I'm grateful that you still find the time to cook for me when you're so busy."
"That's a given. I'll always have time to cook for you," said Vicky.
"Let's dig in," said Tyler. His expression was as usual, and so was his appetite.
There was nothing off about him, though Vicky noticed he did not touch the soup she cooked for him today.
After a while, she could help but ask, "Tyler, why aren't you drinking your soup?"
Sometimes, she would add the soup with the medicine she had, but only the ones in his bowl since she did not need to take the medicine.
Tyler looked at the bowl of soup in front of him and said something that caught her by surprise.
"It sounds like you really want me to drink the soup."
"Well, I cooked it just for you, so I hope you'd at least give it a try..."
Just when Vicky thought Tyler was on to her, he suddenly picked up the bowl and downed the soup in one go.
"I should drink it since you've specially made it for it."
Vicky was actually stunned by how Tyler did not even think twice about drinking the soup.
He put down the bowl calmly. "It's delicious."
After that, Tyler behaved as usual, and the two of them finished their dinner quietly. He then went up to his study not long after that.
