Vicky knew Chris was telling her the truth.

Vicky and Jennifer nodded as they understood what she meant. To be honest, they had seen their fair share of catfights at weddings. In the backstage corridor, Vicky was just about to go to the main hall when she received a phone call.

The call was from one of Vicky's employees, asking about some work-related matter, and it took quite a while for her to finish the call.

By the time she hung up the phone, 'Wedding March' was already playing in the main hall. Being a piano aficionado herself, she could tell the song was played on a real live piano by a very talented pianist.

Since her seat was in a very hidden corner, away from the guests, no one noticed her tardiness.

Vicky sat carefully beside Jennifer and asked, "Has the ceremony begun?"

"Vicky, I... I think I left my phone in the dressing room. Would you mind going with me to take it?" asked Jennifer awkwardly while avoiding her gaze.

Vicky noticed Jennifer was holding her phone in her hand." Jennifer, your phone is right there in your hand!"

Realizing her mistake, Jennifer's face became even more pale.

"Vicky..." She was about to say something when the host's voice rang across the main hall.

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the wedding of Mister Tyler and Miss Avery!"

Vicky's expression froze. Her head spun and saw Tyler and Avery's pre-wedding photos rolling across the big screen monitor. There were also pictures of them at the door, but because Vicky entered through the backdoor, she did not get the chance to see them or the bride and groom's names. "Ahhhh!" Avery started screaming after she snapped out of her shock. "Turn it off! Turn it off now! That video isn't real! It's fake!"

The scene began to descend into chaos after everyone gradually regained their senses.

The face of Vernon Yeager, Avery's father, darkened as he shouted, "Turn off the screen, now!"

For some reason, the video kept playing.

"What is going on? Didn't we ask you to turn it off?! Why is it still playing?!" screamed Alana Yeager, Avery's mother angrily, not caring about her image anymore.

He had never felt so humiliated before. Even though it was widely known there existed much bad blood between the prominent families in the city, and some of the families were downright perverse, they tacitly agreed to never air each other's laundry out in public.

The higher the prominent families were in the pecking order, the more they would do anything to uphold their image and reputation. Thus, it was akin to sacrilege that the Yeager family made a fool out of the Hart family.

Brielle held her reddened cheeks and said calmly, "Avery, you shouldn't point your finger at others when you don't have the proof." She then looked at Tyler, who had been silent from the beginning. "After all, Tyler is watching the whole thing."

Only then did Avery remember Tyler was still there. She quickly turned and shook Tyler's arm panickingly.

The attendants were about to usher the guests out when someone said nonchalantly, "Mister Vernon, don't you think your family owes us an explanation for this sham of a wedding?"

It was Lincoln who had spoken.

Vicky had not seen him for a few years. His temperament was more mellowed than before, making him almost harmless. However, she knew he was dangerous.

Vernon and Alana were about to make a hasty retreat, but Lincoln's words brought all the guests' attention back to them. It was obvious he was hellbent on making the whole thing as humiliating as he could forthem.

"This is obviously a set-up to hurt our family. We'll give everyone an explanation once we've found the culprit," said Vernon sombrely.

Lincoln sighed softly. "Tyler is the future successor of our family. How do you expect him to ever show his face around other people again when this kind of thing happened during

If she had known it was Tyler and Avery's wedding, she would not have accepted the job.

"Shall we knock to see if Panther's inside?" asked Vicky.

Noah glanced at her. "I think that's Avery's room. I heard people arguing inside when I was about to knock on the door. They're probably trying to figure out what to do."

It would be rude for Noah to inquire about his cat at a moment like this, so he added, "Let's wait for them to finish talking before going in."

Inside the room, Vernon slapped Avery's face harshly, causing her to fall.

Pointing at her face, he shouted angrily, "How did I ever end up with such a shameless daughter like you? You were the one who insisted on marrying Tyler, yet you dare cheat on him? Even if you wanted to, you could've at least made sure your tracks were covered! But no, you just can't wait for the whole world to know! You're a complete disgrace to the family!"

Alana was about to intercede when she saw Avery being knocked to the ground, but Vernon's rage made her think otherwise.

Avery held her swollen cheek and said tearfully, "I was set up! I'd never cheat on Tyler! I love him too much to ever do that. Besides, why would I sabotage myself when Tyler has agreed to marry me?"

After a pause, she added through gritted teeth, "It must be that b*tch Brielle! She did this to ruin my reputation so it'll be easier for her to seize my shares in the company!"

Loving You In Secret Chapter 1530-Everyone thought Avery was Vernon's only child, but that could not be further from the truth. No one knew Vernon had a previous marriage which resulted in another daughter.

This meant Avery had an older stepsister. Even though the first marriage did not last, the fact remained that Brielle was also Vernon’s legitimate daughter.

Back then, Vernon did not know his ex-wife was pregnant with Brielle when they divorced. It was only a few years ago that Brielle's mother-who was on her deathbed-told her daughter who her father was. Brielle thus went back to live with the Yeagers.

Vernon looked disappointedly at Avery. "You say Brielle did this? Did she force you to have s*x with another man? I've never given her any real power in all the years she had been back, so what makes you think she could play the s*x tape during your wedding without getting caught?"

Avery suddenly felt her breath caught in her throat. It was true what Vernon said. To prevent any mishaps during the wedding, the Yeagers vetted everyone and every step of the ceremony. Brielle would never be able to do something like that under their watchful eyes.

"Brielle definitely has something to do with this!" said Avery, resolute. "She must've done it out of revenge because she mistakenly thought I was the one who caused her to lose her virginity to a stranger..."

Vernon scoffed and cut in, "Mistakenly thought? Was it all really a misunderstanding?"

Avery's face froze.

Seeing this, Alana quickly came to her defense. "It doesn't matter whether Avery is set up or not. The more important thing now is to figure out how to save the wedding. From the looks of it, the Hart family is going to call off the wedding!"

Vernon laughed coldly. "I wouldn't be surprised if they did since the Harts were known to burn bridges with the people who helped them out. But hell will freeze over before I, Vernon Yeager, let them do that to us!"

"But they have the upper hand," argued Alana. "How can we convince them not to call off the wedding when Avery's in the wrong?"

Avery started to panic at the mention of calling off the wedding.

"Mom, no! Don't call off the wedding! I was drunk that night, so I have no idea how I ended up sleeping with that guy..."

Vernon also knew it was not the time to say who was wrong or who was right.

"What's the point of telling us all this? The only person you have to convince of your innocence is Tyler!" he said coldly.

"I did! He said he's willing to believe me just now!"

Vernon glanced at her. He did not even bother to ask whether Tyler willingly believed her or that she forced him to believe her through underhanded means.

"Even if he believes you, his family will never allow him to take a wanton woman like you to be his wife!"

That was the crux of the problem. Nothing was more important to the Hart family than their reputation, so they would never forgive the Yeager family for making them the laughingstock of the world.

"His family has no say in who he gets to marry!" whined Avery like a spoiled little child. "He'll be the head of the family someday, so everyone needs to listen to him! So as long as he's willing to go on with the wedding, no one will dare to stop him!"
