Ch. 1911..1920
Chapter 1911
Chapter 1911
Persephone was taken aback, looking at the woman with doubt.
Meanwhile, Wynn appeared awkward, tilting his body as if dodging her.
"What's wrong?" Persephone asked.
"She's Shirley," he said softly. "She's with Kourtney."
Persephone thought fast, connecting that with his past, and roughly guessed the grudge between them.
There were many nightclubs on the street, and Kourtney was a powerful madam. She certainly had many "generals" under her wing. Shirley seemed to be one of them.
Meanwhile, a "skirmisher" like Wynn had no support. They must have boycotted him. Given his special identity as a man, they likely looked down on him and bullied him. However, they dared not go over the line. After all, he had Morpheus behind him.
The most they would do was what she was doing now-teasing and humiliating him before leaving him alone.
He grabbed Persephone and gestured toward the alley. "Sephy, let's walk there."
"Hey, don't go just yet." Shirley crossed the line, blocking them and rudely inspecting Persephone. "So, this is Morpheus' girl? Ha! How can she take him when she's so petite?"
She laughed out loud. "Oh, wait! He only looks strong on the outside. He can't last in bed. Hahaha..."
"Don't push it, Shirley!" Wynn couldn't take it anymore. "What business do you have with them?"
"Are you trying to stand up for them, you piece of shit?"
"She's Morpheus' girl," he said seriously. "I don't care how he is, but we all know how powerful his fists are! Don't you dare offend her!"
"You..." Shirley looked at Persephone and scoffed. "Yes, I can't afford to offend her! I suppose she has a fetish, or she wouldn't be friends with a monster like you. Do you guys have threesomes? Or else why are you always clinging to them? You guys sure are fun people. We can't compete with you on that!"
Wynn's cheeks flushed. "Shut your mouth!"
"You're flustered already?" Shirley got even more excited. "She's saying nothing, so why are you so worked up?
"Hey, you!" She mocked, "Are you deaf or mute? Why aren't you saying anything?"
At that moment, Persephone maintained her calm composure and asked, "Oh, you were talking to me?"
Shirley was stunned, and her facial expression changed. She did not expect that Persephone did not take her mockery to heart. That felt horrible.
"I'm sorry." Persephone smiled courteously. "I only heard Wynn talking. I was confused, wondering why he was talking to himself."
"What are you talking about? Do you not understand human language?"
"Oh, so that was human language?" Persephone looked innocent yet mischievous, making Shirley pale from rage. "Miss, are you well-versed in many languages? Do you also know... gibberish?" "What are you saying?"
"I'm just saying, talk like a regular person. Stop speaking gibberish, understand?"
Chapter 1913
Chapter 1913
Wynn couldn't catch Persephone. As such, he could only accompany her into the shopping mall with his head held low. It marked the first time he saw her in a different light. Her eyes lit up as soon as she
entered.
Despite being nothing compared to Centrolis, the mall boasted a collection of global brands and luxury items. Its location at the border intersecting a couple of provinces made it unique. This made many limited edition collections available, and their prices were 1/3 cheaper than in Centrolis.
Persephone felt like she was in heaven, behaving like a happy bird that had flown out of its cage.
Wynn followed her, feeling uncomfortable as shop assistants looked at them with judgment. However, she indulged herself, oblivious to the stares.
"Sephy..." He said softly, "It's almost time. Let's go?"
"We're leaving now?" She was stunned. "We've just come in!"
Wynn forced a smile. "I can't even afford a cotton pad here!"
She pouted.
However, she was familiar with these brands.
"I promised to buy you better skincare." She looked at him. "Although Shirley is irritating, she said one thing right... You should stop using horrible cosmetics."
"I'm a lowly person, so why not?"
"Stop it!" Persephone glared at him. "You are a good person and deserve good things!"
He felt a squeeze in his heart. His lips quivered, and he became teary.
"Why must you beat yourself up?" She patted his shoulder. "My grandma told me since young that anyone can step on you, but you're the only one who can't step on yourself! Even if you're deep in mud, you must bloom like a flower!"
"Your grandma is amazing," Wynn said enviously. "I don't have a family who said things like that to me. Sephy... y-your family must be wealthy, right? Since you're not from Flinge, where are you from?" She fell into silence and did not answer.
She remembered what Morpheus told her at all times-telling the truth was a big no here. Never let people know your trump card, nor should you trust someone entirely.
"My family... is just mediocre." Persephone smiled and changed the subject instantly. "Hey, Wynn, this brand is amazing!"
Before he could react, she pulled him into a store with an elegant design. It was bigger than any of the stores, like a dazzling pearl in the entire shopping mall. It was so dazzling that it was glaring. The conspicuous "Cece" logo exuded sophistication.
Persephone had been using this brand since she was in middle school. However, she had never picked the items at the store. Instead, the chief designer would go to her every time they launched new items. "This, this, and this!" She pointed at a couple of samples on the counter and got the shop assistant to bring her the items.
"Sephy..." Wynn whispered, "It's too expensive."
"Don't worry!"
"Do you have money?"
She thought to herself. She had no money, but Morpheus did!
Did he not give her a credit card earlier?
"Just buy!" She smiled. "I'm paying!"
She went to pay after saying that. She took out the credit card Morpheus had given her naturally. However, she paused the moment she was going to swipe it.
Chapter 1914
Chapter 1914
There seemed to be a voice inside Persephone that said, "Don't do this. It's someone else's money."
She recalled what Wynn had told her. Morpheus' life hung on the edge every day working at the underground arena. The slightest mistake could cost him his life. However, the audience watching the competitions were avid gamblers who cared little for the fighters' lives, deriving pleasure from the adrenaline of gambling.
Her hands shook.
She glimpsed Morpheus' blood-stained wrist wrap, a testament to the toll he paid for every cent earned. Yet, she...
After some thought, she held onto the credit card.
"What's wrong?" Wynn asked softly.
"I-I'm sorry." She turned to face him. "I suddenly remembered that this is Morpheus' hard-earned money. Even though he gave me his card, I shouldn't spend it thoughtlessly. Also, taking credit for using his money to buy you things doesn't make sense..."
She was sincere, "Wynn, can we buy these later? When I have the money, I—"
"Of course!" He smiled happily. "You silly girl. Why worry about that? Even if you have money, we won't buy this! They're not good anyway. Only foolish wealthy people who know nothing would fall for their trap..."
"Umm..."
She forced a smile.
Just then, the shop assistant's rude voice echoed. "Are you buying or not?"
"No." Wynn waved. "We're going to check out other stores."
"You got me to bring the stuff, and you refuse to buy them at the very last minute... Don't come here if you can't afford us! So pretentious..." the shop assistant muttered to herself, but she was quite loud. Persephone heard every word loud and clear.
"What did you say?" She turned her head. "Is this how you treat your customer?"
The shop assistant scoffed arrogantly.
"Since you're working here, it's your job to look for the items for your customers! Whether we buy it or not, it's the consumer's right. What right do you have to be making comments?"
"Hey, can't I talk to myself? Consumers have the right to choose whether to buy, and shop assistants have no right to speak?"
"You do, but what you say has to fit your identity!"
"Miss, what identity do I have?" The shop assistant looked at her with the side of her eye and crossed her arms. "You seem young, but what you say is interesting!
"I'll give you a free lesson! Don't pretend if you can't afford things. People like the two of you can't afford us, get it?"
Persephone took a deep breath.
She was a lifetime VIP member of the brand, and not many people owned the membership.
During her time at Centrolis, the brand's Regional CEO would have to respect her whenever they met, calling her "Ms. Persephone".
She calmed down, looked at the arrogant shop assistant, and smirked coldly. "I'll give you a series of numbers, and you'll look it up on the computer. You'll tell me if I can afford your brand or not!" The shop assistant frowned, clearly not understanding her.
Just as Persephone was about to provide her VIP membership number, a deep, electric voice suddenly sounded behind her. "Who said my wife can't afford this?"
Chapter 1915
Chapter 1915
Persephone stood in stunned silence as the voice echoed. A tall figure approached, his broad shoulders reaching out to grab her.
Unintentionally, her gaze caught two shadows on the wall, merging into one, and she blushed.
Morpheus swiftly took the credit card from her hand, slamming it onto the counter. "What are you buying?" he asked.
Caught off guard, she stammered, "N-Nothing..."
"Buy anything you'd like," he commanded, his voice gentle despite his fierce appearance. "I have money. Let's see who dares to look down on you here!"
A tickling sensation warmed Persephone's heart, an odd but pleasant feeling.
Seeing that Morpheus was so muscular and fierce he could totally play a bandit in a movie, the shop assistant dared not offend him, even though she looked down on him.
"Alright, sir." She smiled, packing the items Persephone had chosen. "I'll ring up the bill."
Morpheus remained silent, coldly staring.
After paying, Persephone held his arm and playfully said, "Morpheus, she said I couldn't afford their stuff!"
Morpheus looked blank, trying to comprehend her intentions. After paying for her, shouldn't he have claimed justice on her behalf? The shop assistant had been polite, so what more did she want?
But she held his arm.
Suppressing a smile, he remained composed. "Oh," he said, unfazed. "What do you want?"
She smirked. "I don't want them! Get me a refund!"
The shop assistant was dumbstruck. Although the store's inventory was not extensive, Persephone demonstrated shrewdness in selecting the pricier items. The cumulative cost amounted to a significant figure
A commission would be earned based on the total bill.
Furthermore, hardly anyone sought refunds for this particular brand. Customers willingly paid a premium for the exceptional quality and customer service it offered. It was a prominent A-list brand. However, if a refund were requested, she wouldn't just lose her commission...
Her superior would investigate the incident thoroughly, probing into the reasons behind the customer's refund request. Wouldn't they eventually uncover the altercation she had with the customer? Her job would be jeopardized at that point!
"No!" The shop assistant grasped the severity of the situation. "Sir, ma'am, it's my fault. Can you not "
"No!" Persephone stood tall, radiating even more majesty than before.
Morpheus' presence bolstered her fearless demeanor.
"I initially wanted these items, but I no longer desire them! I demand a refund! Is the consumer not entitled to that? Or does the brand enforce a ludicrous no-refund policy?"
"I"
"Didn't you hear that my wife is requesting a refund?" Morpheus' cold voice echoed once again.
Persephone glanced at him, chuckling with her head lowered.
"Sir-"
"Don't make me repeat myself!" He advanced a step, his gaze overpowering and icy, chilling the entire store.
The shop assistant had no choice but to process the refund for them.
Persephone trailed behind Morpheus on the way home until they reached their destination.
After bidding farewell to Wynn, she cautiously approached him.
Standing next to him as he opened the door, she caught his glance.
Persephone was petite, only reaching his shoulders. She was no longer the fierce, wild cat he first encountered. Instead, she had transformed into a submissive rabbit. He couldn't help but smile.
Chapter 1916
Chapter 1916
"Is there something you'd like to tell me?" Morpheus asked.
"Umm..." Persephone pursed her lips. "Do you think I was being unreasonable at the store?"
"What?"
"The brand is known for its quality. Basically, nobody would get a refund," she said softly. "As soon as the manager finds out that someone requested a refund, the shop assistant will be questioned and might be fired."
"What? You can't bear for that to happen to her?"
"No." She looked into his eyes. All the words were stuck in her throat-she had no idea how to say it.
It was not that she couldn't bear to do it she cared about what he thought.
She was worried he might think she was being stubborn and stirring trouble.
She was worried she might become an unreasonable and self-centered girl to him.
Even she was shocked when that thought came up. Why did she care about that so much?
"That's how the world is." Morpheus' voice was deep. "If we don't bully anyone, we can't just take it blindly when we're bullied. Is it fair if you don't fight back when they're punching your face?" He stared at her when he spoke. There was a smirk on his chiseled face.
"So... you supported what I did?"
"What else?"
They locked eyes and smiled.
The smile sent a wave to his heart, breaking his tough barrier. Although Persephone bought nothing that night, she felt happy.
After getting home, she washed up and fell asleep on the couch.
Just then, Morpheus happened to bring the blanket and pillow from the room.
He wanted to let her sleep in the bedroom since she had been sleeping on the couch for many days. He had cleaned yesterday, so he was going to let her sleep there today.
When he saw her sleeping soundly on the couch, he felt exasperated. He walked to her and watched her sleeping quietly.
Time seemed to have stopped, and the air around seemed to have turned soft as well.
His heart seemed to be blooming.
Morpheus couldn't help but stretch his hand to brush her messy hair. However, he hesitated as his hand hung in the air and slowly retracted it.
Could it be that... he hoped for more between them? How could anything happen to them?!
Persephone would go back to her world sooner or later. Her world must be beautiful, unlike his, facing the boxing ring, blood, and injuries every day.
He pursed his lips when he pulled his back as he retracted his hand. A burning pain came from his back.
He took a sharp breath, got up, holding in the pain, and ran to the bathroom.
Persephone was a light sleeper. She opened her eyes slowly when she heard the sound and noticed the pillow and blanket on the couch.
Morpheus was not in the bedroom, while there was some commotion coming from the bathroom.
She was more awake now and followed the sound with the help of the dimmed lights.
Morpheus' sounds came from the bathroom.
He seemed to be suppressing himself, his deep voice sounding in pain.
He had not closed the door entirely, so Persephone inched closer and saw his almost naked body that was only wrapped with a towel on his waist through the gap. Just then, she widened her eyes and covered her mouth from the scare!
"Who is it?"
Morpheus turned around upon hearing the commotion outside.
Chapter 1917
Chapter 1917
Persephone froze as she gazed at Morpheus.
He bore numerous wounds, spanning from his neck down to the back of his feet. Positioned with his back to the bathroom door, he appeared to be tending to an injury on his back. Bruises, swelling, cuts...
There were bruises and patches of dried blood, silently proclaiming to the world that he had endured a brutal and vicious battle.
Yet, at the shopping mall, he had displayed nothing.
It turned out he had been suppressing his pain.
Persephone felt a jolt in her heart. Her hand, covering her mouth, slowly dropped.
"Aren't you... sleeping?" he asked.
"I woke up," she said softly. "Your wounds..."
"It's nothing."
Morpheus seemed calm, but his heart was in turmoil. Grabbing his clothes quietly, he accidentally aggravated the wounds on his back in his haste.
He bit his lip, striving to endure it.
"L-Let me tend to your wounds!" Persephone suddenly said.
Morpheus was stunned-doubt flashed through his eyes.
His reason urged him to keep his distance, yet his heart yearned for her to nurse his wounds.
No one had ever cared for him or relieved his pain.
He was accustomed to the harsh realities of life. Even a sliver of sunlight breaking through the clouds was precious to him. However, he knew that the thing he cherished belonged to another world, not his. "You can't reach your back," she said in a testing manner. "Let me help you, okay?"
"No need," he rejected her coldly.
Persephone looked down and reluctantly continued a moment later. "It's no trouble at all. I'm relying on you. At least, I should help you..."
"I said no need. Do you not understand?!" He suddenly raised his voice like a wild beast roaring in the night.
She was shocked, looking at him blankly.
"Take the blanket and pillow and sleep in the room!"
"What?"
"I wanted to give you the room." He glanced at her. "Do as I say!"
"Morpheus..."
She stood there helplessly, clueless about his sudden drastic change. Despite her good intentions, he made her seem mean.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she tried her best to hold them back as she sat on the couch.
Morpheus widened his eyes. "Didn't I ask you to go to the room?"
There was a door in the room. He could tend to himself in the living room as soon as she closed the door and wouldn't have to do it secretly.
However, now that she was still in the living room...
"Sleep in the room, Persephone!"
She pouted and ignored him.
"Am I speaking a foreign language that you don't understand?"
She was still upset.
Morpheus couldn't do anything about her. He could only grab her. However, the wounds on his back acted up as soon as he bent and stretched his arms. He instinctively sucked sharply, startling Persephone. Just as she was getting up, they accidentally bumped heads.
"Ahh!" She held her head and groaned.
He panicked and wanted to check her head, but it was messy in the dark. He hit somewhere and fell onto the couch. The pain in his back was burning.
"Are you okay?" she asked in concern.
"I'm okay."
However, in the dim lights, she saw the terrifying wounds on his back.
Chapter 1918
Chapter 1918
Persephone had never witnessed the cruelty of life, nor had she fathomed the extent to which it could push a person. While her brother, back in the Hamertons, had a boxing trainer to enhance his physique as
a personal interest, Morpheus engaged in it for survival.
The realization hit her, and a wave of sadness washed over Persephone, prompting tears to fall.
She struggled to speak, her voice choked. "Who... was it... Who subjected you to such brutality... Does it... hurt?"
Morpheus' heart tightened at her words. Slowly, he turned to face her, questioning if the glistening tears on her face were for him. Touched by the unspoken emotion, he refrained from expressing it overtly. After a prolonged silence, he handed her a bottle of ointment. In the darkness, his deep voice resonated. "I can't reach my back, indeed. Please apply this for me."
Persephone was taken aback. Wiping away her tears, she accepted the bottle. As she ceased crying, he softened his demeanor.
In the quiet house, only the rhythmic beats of their hearts echoed. The heartbeats, akin to two embers in the night, drew closer.
Having never cared for anyone in this way, Persephone felt awkward. Despite her clumsiness, she endeavored to be gentle, moving softly yet inadvertently tickling his wound and his heart.
"Should I rub the ointment?" she asked.
Morpheus snapped back to reality, blushed, and replied, "Okay..."
"I'll do it for you," she said softly. "I've never done this before, so if I hurt you, let me know!"
"Okay..."
He closed his eyes as she applied the ointment, feeling her touch and catching a whiff of her scent. Her tenderness became a form of torment, so agonizing that it seemed to crumble his soul. Persephone noticed that he was breathing heavily. "Are you in pain?"
"No, no!" He denied it right away. Regret flooded him. Why had he been foolish enough to get her to nurse him?!
"Am I doing it too hard?"
"No..."
"So, can I do it harder?"
He pursed his lips, sweat dripping from his forehead.
Persephone kept challenging his boundaries. He looked back slightly and saw that she was kneeling behind him. Her fair legs were revealed from her sleep dress... Somewhere in his body, it felt extra intense.
Morpheus was shocked to realize that he was aroused. He pushed her away and quickly grabbed something to cover his crotch!
"Ahh!" Persephone was shocked. She stared at the emotional man blankly. "W-What now?"
"You can stop now. It doesn't hurt anymore."
She looked at the cotton wool in her hand. She was only halfway done. Why did he...
"Go, go to the room!" He chased her away loudly. "Go to bed!"
"What's wrong with you?! You were nice, and now you're snapping at me again!" She glared at him. "Okay, I'll leave you be!"
Persephone went to grab her pillow and blanket.
However, she realized that the pillow case was gone.
Persephone stood in front of him, demanding, "Hey. Give it to me!"
Morpheus was stunned. "What?"
"Give me the pillow case!" She pointed at him.
He felt a ringing in his head. He had grabbed something to cover his crotch. So it turned out it was her... pillow case?
"Umm... I'm borrowing it." He dared not look at her eyes. "There are more in the room. Get another one."
She leered at him but did not bother to dwell on it and went into the room.
After some time, Morpheus finally released a sigh. His body, which had been tensed up, also relaxed, and he lay on the couch.
Chapter 1919
Chapter 1919
Morpheus battled insomnia that night, tossing and turning in a restless struggle. Despite his weariness, sleep eluded him, his mind consumed by thoughts of Persephone.
Unable to divert his focus, he found himself immersed in memories of her. Yet, in the rare moments when her image faded, all that remained was the haunting specter of his life, besieged by bullets. The merciless brutality of the battlefield lingered in his thoughts-the shattered ruins, the blood-soaked drains.
He curled into a ball and closed his eyes, a sharp pain radiating from the depths of his heart. Trembling and breathless, he grappled with the overwhelming anguish.
Morpheus summoned his strength and compelled himself to sit up, seeking solace in the bathroom. Cold water cascaded over his wounds as he cleansed them repeatedly.
Gazing into the mirror, he confronted his reflection, a visual narrative of scars, old and new. Perhaps, he mused, his involvement in the gritty underground arena served as a deliberate choice to overlay fresh wounds upon the scars of the past.
These recent injuries, a stark reminder of his continued existence, seemed to echo the resilience he forged amid the ashes of war.
Morpheus had survived, not only for himself but for those who shared the tumultuous journey through the chaos of battle.
Morpheus only succumbed to slumber as the first light of day began to break.
Upon awakening, he noted the clock on the wall signaling 7:00 a.m.
He went to the balcony and took deep breaths, invigorated by the morning breeze. Surveying the room, he speculated that Persephone was still asleep. He headed to the kitchen with brisk steps to prepare breakfast.
His breakfast had once been a simple affair.
As he was about to place a premade beef sandwich on the dining table, a sudden recollection of Persephone struggling to eat flashed in his mind.
Momentarily perplexed, he pondered what she used to eat at home, realizing it couldn't be a hasty grab from the refrigerator.
He sighed and kept the cold sandwich for himself, deciding to make an unprecedented morning market visit. There, he acquired a fresh croissant and coffee. Once everything was ready, he knocked on the door.
In the absence of any response, he hesitated, concerned that something might be amiss. He tentatively tested the doorknob and discovered that Persephone had not locked the door. Pushing it open gently, he peered through the gap.
To his surprise, Persephone wasn't asleep on the bed but rather at the desk. On closer inspection, she appeared to be sleeping soundly, occasionally smacking her lips and mumbling something. "Sephy..." He tapped her shoulder. "Sephy?"
"Hmm..."
Persephone was dreaming of her parents and brother. Their voices reached her, but before she could engage in conversation, a distant call interrupted the moment.
Suddenly, she was plummeting at lightning speed...
"Ahh!" Her scream echoed as she jolted upright.
She stared blankly at the face before her in her drowsiness for what felt like an eternity.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Morpheus waved a hand to get her attention.
Reality snapped back into focus.
"Oh, I'm okay," she replied softly. "W-Why are you here?"
"You didn't answer the door," he stated flatly. "Come, it's time for breakfast."
She reluctantly rose from her 'bed'. Morpheus noticed the papers under her arms.
"What are these?"
"Oh, I meant to give you these!" She smiled, recalling the purpose, and handed him the papers.
Her handwriting was flamboyant. While handwriting often revealed one's personality, hers didn't quite align. Morpheus glanced at it briefly, his expression changing.
The papers detailed names and prescriptions of traditional medicine.
"You..."
"I wrote these down after thinking all night!" She giggled. "They're traditional medicines... Look, Morpheus!"
Chapter 1920
Chapter 1920
Persephone pointed at them. "These two herbs together are for promoting blood circulation and removing bruises. Soaking them in bathwater and using them to wash can reduce swelling and alleviate pain..." Morpheus gazed at her steadily. Yet, Persephone interpreted his complex expression as his surprise.
Waving her hand, she chuckled and continued. "No need to thank me. These are small matters to me! And you don't have to worry about the proportion. It's absolutely precise!"
Morpheus narrowed his eyes. The herbs were quite common, but not in Flinge, not even familiar. However, in Southeast Aciatic... His heart lurched, and his gaze toward Persephone deepened.
"Hey, this is the culmination of my lifelong learning!" Persephone looked at him. "You should go to the pharmacy for them when you have time!"
After a prolonged silence, Morpheus asked in a low voice, "How do you know these prescriptions?"
Persephone felt proud. What was so difficult about it? Her grandmother was a descendant of the Southeast Aciatic Irwins! The Irwins were well-known there, serving as imperial physicians. However, her heart jolted for some reason as she took in Morpheus' expression. In the end, she left herself a way out and made up a reason. "I... My family has been practicing medicine for generations, collecting some rare and unusual prescriptions. As such, I've been exposed to it since childhood and picked up some medical skills."
"This is a prescription your family collected?"
Persephone nodded without hesitation, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that Morpheus' expression was peculiar.
Morpheus stared at the prescription for a long time. Perhaps Persephone didn't know much about the pharmacies here, just as he didn't know her true origins.
He took the paper with some doubt and forced a smile. "Thank you for your effort. Come out for breakfast."
Persephone flashed a playful smile and followed him.
The croissants and coffee were still warm, at the perfect temperature. She was excited. This was the first time she had something warm for breakfast since she came to his house.
She couldn't comprehend why Morpheus was so fond of cold drinks and meals, like a primitive man, just eating beef straight out of the fridge.
Today, however, he finally had some warmth and a bit of liveliness.
Persephone stole a glance at him. A sip of warm and sweet coffee burst through her taste buds, soaking into her heart like the morning sun. Her face reddened quietly, and she lowered her head.
"I'll be taking a break for some time." Morpheus' cold voice sounded. "In the coming days... we might be seeing each other from morning till night."
Persephone paused, still with her head lowered. In the past few days, he had been leaving early and coming home late. Except for meals, they hardly crossed paths. But in the days to come, he would be home every day.
Well, considering his injuries, he needed proper rest.
"If you feel uncomfortable, just stay in the room during the day and lock the door." Morpheus continued to say, "I've given the room to you, so you can do whatever you want inside.
"And... about meals." He glanced at her. "I'm not too skilled at cooking, but I should be better than you. So, I'll handle the cooking these days. Just let me know what you want to eat, and I'll try my best-" "No!" Persephone interrupted him. "You're injured. It's better for me to take care of you!"
Morpheus widened his eyes and couldn't help but laugh.
Persephone taking care of him? He could barely handle her applying medicine for him. How could he dare to let her take care of him?
