Ch. 361..365

Chapter 361

If he had the time to text her and inform her to video call him, why didn’t he just video call her straightaway? Sylvia speechlessly tightened her lips as she video-called Odell. The call got through and his handsome face appeared on screen. It still seemed to be daytime on his side as he was sitting beside the floor-to-ceiling window.

He stared at her in silence. Sylvia took the initiative and asked, “Have you eaten?” “I’ve taken my lunch.” “We just had dinner.” Sylvia then moved the phone further away and allowed Isabel and Liam into the frame. When Odell saw the mother and children sitting together, his frosty expression looked warmer.

“Did anything happen today?” “The same ol’ stuff. Isabel and Liam went to school and came back Being the good kids they are, nothing much happened.” Odell hummed a reply. Sylvia then turned to Isabel and Liam. “Isabel, Liam, do you guys have anything to say to Daddy?” Liam stared at the screen with his big eyes and said with a solemn stare, “Nothing.”

Sylvia was speechless. She then turned to Isabel, hoping for a different outcome.

Isabel was pouting as she bawled at Odell, “Big meanie, don’t you dare touch other women outside. If I find out about your affairs, I’ll tell Mommy to divorce you!” Sylvia was at a loss for words. The girl must have watched too many drama series with Aunt Tonya lately and picked up the bad influence there.

Just when Sylvia was trying to come up with appropriate words in her mind, Odell answered,” Okay,”

He looked calm and normal without the slightest irritation on his face. His lips were even curled into a vague grin.

Listening to his assurance, Isabel smiled widely. She reigned the tone of an adult and said, ” Then, I have nothing else to say. You can talk with Mommy.”

Odell then looked at Sylvía.

Sylvia did not know how to react to Isabel’s amusing comments. She looked at Odell and said,“ I’ll play with them a little longer. You can go back to your work now.”

“I’m not busy at the moment.” Surprised, Sylvia asked, “Don’t you have work today?”

Odell lifted his wrist to have a glance at his watch. “There’s a meeting, but it’s in three hours.”

“Okay.”

“What’s wrong? Is there something you want to do?” he asked. “Nope, nothing.”

He raised a brow and asked, “Were you home during the day?” “I went out shopping with Sherry in the afternoon,” Sylvia said. The odd conversation went on and on, and before they knew it, half an hour passed. The conversation ran into a dead end as neither of them had any new topics to talk about.

Syvlai then said, “odell, the kids are tired. I have to tuck them in now.”

Odell pursed his lips and said, “Okay. Good night.” Sylvia then hung up the video call.

Isabel was already dozing off while Liam was yawning like crazy. Sylvia carried both of them to their respective beds, tucked them into the sheets, and then returned to her room to rest.

Chapter 362

Two days later, which was a Saturday, the two little rascals did not have to go to school. Sylvia was starting to get bored after staying at home for several days, so she brought the kids to the amusement park..

Right after her car left the Carters’ residence, another car drove out from the corner and tailed her.

It was Melanie.

She had been waiting outside the Carters’ for days now and finally saw Sylvia going out. She told the driver that she hired, “Follow that car. Hurry! Don’t lose it!”

Odell had registered Isabel and Liam for several luxury amusement park memberships, so Sylvia brought them to one of them.

The amusement park was well-equipped with all kinds of attractions and even a full-fledged cafeteria.

Isabel roamed around like a horse without reins and dragged Liam to every attraction available; Sylvia simply followed them around. They spent a whole day in the amusement park and only left in the evening.

There was a new anime movie showing in cinemas now, and ever since Isabel spent the whole weekend at the movies with her family, she had been wanting to go again.

Therefore, after coming out of the amusement park, Sylvia brought them to the movies right away. The theatre hall was almost fully seated, and even the air smelled like popcorn.

As soon as they arrived, Isabel bawled, “Mommy, I want popcom and drinks!” “You can have popcorn but no soft drinks for you, little missy.” Isabel widened her googly eyes and begged, “Just a tiny bit!”

“Not even a sip,” Sylvia said strictly.

Isabel protruded her lips and said, “Then, I’ll have orange juice.”

Sylvia patted Isabel and Liam and said, “Stay here. I’ll come back with juice and popcorn.”

The two little rascals nodded obediently.

The snack counter was further away from the waiting area. After sitting the two of them down on the bench, Sylvia went over to the counter to queue up.

It was then that Melanie emerged from the shadows.

She thought Sylvia was bringing her kids out as a smokescreen for her to meet other men, but they spent a whole day at the amusement park and then went to the movies.

She heard from Tara that Sylvia had no feelings for Odell. If that was the truth, shouldn’t she

be meeting other men while Odell was away on a business trip? Melanie wasted a full day following Sylvia around, and seeing the kids further fueled her irritation.

If Sylvia had not given birth to the two little rascals, Tara would have married Odell instead of her.

Since Melanie failed to capture any pictures of Sylvia seeing another man, she changed her plan to abduct the two kids and sell them off. She put on her mask and approached the kids.

She curved her eyes into a warm smile and said, “Hey, little girl, do you want to have a bottle of Pepsi?”

Isabel and Liam looked at her.

Isabel blinked blankly and Liam remained quiet.

Melanie suddenly locked eyes with Liam, and for some reason, the boy’s overly calm gaze made her anxious. However, knowing that they were just two four-year-olds, Melanie calmed herself down and continued to entice them. “Why don’t I buy you two a bottle of Pepsi?” Isabel grinned and said, “Okay!”

Chapter 363

Melanie’s eyes gleamed. “But the Pepsi here is not that good. Follow me and I’ll bring you somewhere better.” Isabel looked at Liam who tightened his lips but did not say a word. Melanie did not notice the little interaction between the brother and sister, so she continued,” Don’t worry, I’m not a bad person. I just want to buy you a drink because you two are so adorable.” Isabel widened her eyes. “For real?”

“Of course!” Melanie then reached out to the little girl. “Come on, I’ll buy you something nice to drink.” Isabel also extended her hand in response to her invitation.

As Melanie bent over to pick Isabel up, the little girl reached out and scratched her face. Her tiny nails did not only scratch Melanie’s face but even pulled her mask off.

Melanie squealed in pain. The expression on her face turned frosty as she dropped her plan to take the girl away by force. Isabel then immediately jumped into her brother’s arms and shouted, “Help! Help! Someone is trying to kidnap me! Help!” The girl might be tiny and always spoke in a feeble voice, but when she screamed, she could be as loud as a grown woman. Her scream immediately gathered a crowd, and even Sylvia, who was at the snack counter, turned around. She saw Isabel clinging to her brother tightly as she glared at the middle-aged woman before her. The middle-aged woman was completely dressed in black and had a cap on. When Sylvia ran back, the woman hurriedly put her mask on and attempted to escape from the growing crowd. Isabel continued screaming, “Catch her. She’s an evil person! She’s a kidnapper trying to sell me off!

The crowd grew anxious when they heard the term ‘kidnapper’. Several righteous men tried to stop the middle-aged woman from leaving

Sylvia was caught in a panic. She stayed by her children’s side and protected them from further harm

However, the middle-aged woman was as slippery as an eel. She almost tripped and fell after being kicked several times by the crowd but managed to escape.

Sylvia was worried about her children, so she did not go after the woman.

The crowd dispersed shortly after that, and some of them stayed back to offer some comfort.

Sylvia thanked everyone who helped. She then turned to Isabel and Liam with a worried expression, “Are you guys okay? Are you hurt?” Isabel calmed down after the kidnapper left. She wore a smirk and said, “Of course not. Hehe, I even scratched her face.” Sylvia sighed a breath of relief. She then hugged the little girl into her arms and held Liam’s hand tightly.

Isabel continued, “Mommy, don’t worry. Bro and I knew at first glance that that lady is an evil person, so we tried to trap her but she still ran away.”

Sylvia frowned. “Next time, if you run into a bad person, don’t try to provoke or engage them. Run, or scream for help, do you understand?”

They were fortunate because they were in a crowded place this time. If they had been in a secluded place, given their feeble strength, they would never have stopped a grown person from taking them away. Isabel noticed the serious look on her mother’s face. She protruded her lip and nodded obediently. “Okay, Mommy.” Liam then quipped, “Mommy, don’t worry. I will protect Isabel and myself.”

Sylvia finally sighed a breath of relief. She believed it would be better to call Ben and Jacob along on their next outing.

The popcorn and juice were finally ready over the counter. Sylvia saw the little girl’s pleading eyes and eventually bought a bottle of Pepsi for her.

Chapter 364

Melanie ran out of the cinema for her life and headed straight to the car in the parking lot. The moment she jumped into the car, she screamed at the driver, “Drive! Drive right away!” She was afraid that the security guards would catch up to her. The driver immediately floored the acceleration pedal. She only calmed down when the car arrived at Lake Victoria Villa.

She was kicked several times on the back, and it still hurt. She even had a reddish claw mark on her face.

Melanie was furious. “That little piece of shit!” She strode into the villa right after she got out of the car. The housekeeper who worked for Tara gaped at the claw mark on her face. Out of frustration, she slapped the housekeeper in the face. She shouted, “What are you looking at? I’ll slap the shit out of you if you keep staring!” The housekeeper immediately looked away. Melanie grunted before she headed to Tara’s room. Tara anticipated her mother’s return. After she closed the door, she asked, “How was it?” Melanie grumbled, “Sylvia spent the whole day with her children. She didn’t meet any men in secret.”

“That bitch is too cunning,” Tara cursed as she sat down on the couch. Melanie pondered about it for a moment and asked, “Tara, is it possible that she isn’t seeing

anyone?”

“Impossible! She must be seeing other men out there, or she would have fallen for Odell.”

“You can’t be too sure about that. She might not have any more feelings for Odell, but it doesn’t mean that will stay permanent. Now that they are remarried, maybe she’s developing feelings for him again.”

Tara frowned tightly. She immediately recalled the kind look she saw on Odell’s face.

Now that he loved Sylvia, he no longer had disgust and contempt for that woman and must be treating her well. No woman would be able to resist his kindness, so it was entirely possible for Sylvia to love him again.

The more Tara thought about it, the angrier she got.

She had to separate them as soon as possible. She could not allow this to continue because the longer she dragged it out, the lesser chance she had to return to Odell’s embrace.

She turned to her mother and asked in a hurried tone, “Do you have any other ideas other than following her?”

Melanie immediately answered, “Tara, don’t worry. I’ll think of something. I promise I’ll help you to win Odell’s heart.” “I want the bitch to disappear!” “Okay, okay, I’ll come up with a plan right away.

When the mother and kids returned home from the movie, it was already 10 p.m. Isabel and Liam were already fast asleep in the car.

Sylvia carried both of them back to their room and helped them change into their pajamas. She lay down beside them and recalled what had happened before the movie.

The thought of almost losing her children to the kidnapper left her anxious. She pulled her phone out and wonder if she should inform Odell about this.

Two hours ago at 8 p.m., she had texted him that they were watching a movie, so Odell had simply replied with a brief text.

He must have been busy working at that time.

Sylvia wondered if he was still working now. After some deliberate consideration, she decided to put her phone away. Since Isabel and Liam were fine and Odell was working abroad, she believed it would be

better to inform him when he came back and save him the worry.

The next day, Sylvia stayed at home and accompanied the kids for the whole day.

After the weekend, it was time for the kids to return to school, but she was afraid after what happened.

On Monday morning, she called Ben and Jacob to follow her as she brought the kids to kindergarten. She stayed and watched the kids go inside before she left. In the evening, Sylvia arrived at the kindergarten to pick them up.

Chapter 365

Like any other parent, Sylvia waited for her kids in the waiting area. When Isabel and Liam came out, she went over immediately. Isabel and Liam’s eyes gleamed when they saw their mother.

“Mommy!” Isabel threw herself into Sylvia’s arms. Liam also strode over excitedly. Sylvia held their hands and wanted to take them home. It was then that one of their classmates, a plump boy, said, “Isabel, your Mommy is really pretty.”

His mother was also there to pick him up. Sylvia smiled. Just as she wanted to thank the little boy for the compliment, Isabel proudly said, “Of course.” Sylvia could not help but laugh at her daughter’s reaction. She then had a chat with the little boy’s mother.

After that, she brought Isabel and Liam back to the car. Isabel crawled into her arms and Liam sat beside her obediently. As the car drove off, Isabel chuckled and asked, “Mommy, why did you come to pick us up from kindergarten today?”

Sylvia did not want to tell Isabel that she was worried about them being kidnapped, so she said, “I’m free today.” Isabel asked, “Then, will you be picking us up tomorrow?” She widened her big googly eyes and begged as Liam did the same. Sylvia did not have the heart to reject them. “I’ll come to pick you two up tomorrow as well.” “Yay!” Isabel buried her face into her mother’s stomach.

Liam also curled his thin lips into a grin. Sylvia forced a helpless smile on her face. She did not expect the two little rascals to like her to pick them up so much. Right after their car left the kindergarten, another car appeared from the corner of the street. The driver asked, “Are we still following them?”

Melanie looked frustrated. “That’s it Let’s go back first.”

Following Sylvia home would probably be useless anyway.

The driver then turned in the other direction,

Melanie pulled her phone out and texted a contact for help. She had no ideas left, so she thought of asking him for help.

Before they arrived at Lake Victoria Villa, she got a reply. “Keep following her.” Melanie was baffled. She had been following Sylvia for many days now and got nothing at all. She started to believe that this ‘consultant’ of hers had no idea how to approach this matter as well, but she maintained her politeness and texted, “Okay. As you wish.”

The next morning, after breakfast, Sylvia brought Isabel and Liam to kindergarten. After they got out of the car, she walked them to the entrance before bidding them goodbye. She then watched them go inside the classroom before she turned around. Before she got into the car, she saw a familiar off-roader stopping beside the road. The window rolled down and a haughty face emerged. “Edmund? Why are you here?” Sylvia was surprised to see Edmund. “I’ve got a meeting with a client around the area,” Edmund said, “Why are you here?” “I’m here to send my kids to school.” Edmund had a glance at the kindergarten behind her. “Okay, I have to go now. Talk to you soon.” “Okay. See you.” Sylvia then returned to her car.

Further away in another car, Melanie managed to snap some pictures with her phone. Although Edmund and Sylvia barely chatted for a minute, she was still able to get several incriminating pictures.
