Ch. 1301..1310
Chapter 1301 I Do Not Want To Believe A Single Word
In the end, Genevieve grew tired of arguing and said coldly, "I've said it before, there's no need for you to take care of Jojo once he's found. I'll be the one to look after him."
After she finished speaking, she tried to get up, but Armand pushed her back onto the couch.
Genevieve turned her head and glared at Armand, "What are you doing? Jojo is in such a state, and you still want to help Timothy?"
"I'm not trying to speak up for him, but it's more appropriate for Johanna to stay here."
Armand patiently explained to Genevieve, "Autistic individuals need the gradual guidance of their family and doctors. Even if Johanna doesn't know Asel, it's possible that spending a lot of time together might help her come out of her own world. Besides, it would be more convenient for Timothy to take care of her at home."
"Then take Asel with you," Genevieve said sarcastically. "Let him take care of Jojo, just in case he gets upset one day and lets Jojo run away from home. That would be troublesome."
Armand wrapped his arms around Genevieve's shoulders and whispered softly in her ear, "I know you're worried about Johanna, but there are some things you just can't do."
"You can't just lock Timothy up in a death cell because he made one mistake. Besides, he's Asel's father. Taking away his wife and daughter wouldn't be fair to him either."
Timothy didn't want Genevieve to take Johanna away either, and said softly, "Let Jojo stay here, I'll do everything I can to help her recover."
Genevieve said, "What if she can never step out of her own world?"
"It doesn't matter." As long as Johanna was by his side, Timothy felt that nothing else mattered. "I'll always be with her."
Genevieve sneered, "I don't want to believe a single word you say!"
"I swear to you." Timothy raised three fingers towards the sky, speaking word by word, "If I don't take good care of Jojo, and if I argue with her again, I will..."
"Sincerity cannot be achieved just by swearing an oath," Genevieve interrupted him. "Don't drag the child down with you."
Genevieve really wanted to take Johanna and Asel back with her, but Armand was right. Johanna needed the company of her family more, and she couldn't deprive Timothy of his right to be a father.
In the end, Genevieve agreed to let Johanna stay by Timothy's side.
As they were leaving, Genevieve and Timothy said, "I'll come by to check on things every few days. If I find out you haven't been taking good care of Jojo, I'll take her away."
"Every weekend, I also invite Luc and Amanda to come here and play," she added.
There are a bunch of tasks at the company waiting for Timothy to handle, and he also has to take care of Johanna. He definitely won't have time to take Asel out for fun.
On the way back, Genevieve sat in the passenger seat, very quietly.
Armand glanced at her and took her hand in his, "You saw how Timothy looked, he knows he made a mistake and regrets it deeply."
"He truly loves Johanna, and everything he told you is sincere. Don't worry about it."
Genevieve leaned back in her chair and said softly, "I just feel so sad when I think about how lively and adorable Jojo used to be, and now he's become like this..."
She suddenly thought of something and turned her head to look at Armand, "Where's Zephyr?"
"Dead," Armand said solemnly, driving the car steadily with one hand. "I took care of it myself."
Genevieve looked at the man's profile, puzzled, and asked, "Zephyr is so cunning and has escaped death several times. How could he be caught by you so easily?"
Armand said, "He reached out to me on his own initiative."
Some time ago, Armand had found out where Zephyr was, but since Johanna was with him and had reportedly given birth, Armand didn't take any immediate action for fear of hurting Johanna.
In just a few days, Zephyr took the initiative to come to Jadeborough and gave him a call.
Chapter 1302 He Insulted The Word Love
Upon hearing this, Genevieve instantly understood who made that phone call last night. She then asked, "Why would he send Jojo back?"
"He loves Johanna."
Genevieve laughed sarcastically and said, "The word 'love' coming from someone who climbed to the top by stepping on others' corpses and wantonly toyed with people is an insult to the word itself."
She never thought Zephyr would love Johanna; all he ever did to Johanna was plunder and hurt her.
Genevieve hesitated for a moment, "That child..."
Armand said, "It's Zephyr's. But don't worry, I've taken care of the child too."
"Did you kill them?"
"No," Armand wouldn't admit that he was the father, and he couldn't bring himself to kill a child. Besides, he had a deal with Zephyr.
He will ensure the child's safety throughout their life.
Armand gently took Genevieve's hand and kissed it, "Don't worry about these things, I've taken care of everything."
Upon hearing this, Genevieve didn't ask any more questions.
After the car arrived at the government building, Genevieve unbuckled her seatbelt, leaned over, and wrapped her arms around the man's neck, giving him a deep kiss. "Thank you for your hard work, Mando. I'll make soup for you tonight."
"Alright." Armand smiled and wiped the lipstick from the corner of her lips. "It's been a long time since I've had the soup you made."
After Armand got out of the car, Genevieve moved to the driver's seat and drove home.
After Genevieve decided to practice kickboxing with Sally, she had a room on the first floor specifically converted into a training room.
She thought practicing kickboxing would be similar to yoga, but she soon realized how naive she was.
Yoga is a practice that focuses on physical postures, and many of its movements may appear to be highly challenging. However, it is typically performed indoors. On the other hand, kickboxing requires full- body strength, as a powerful kick can cause pain to others.
Every morning, in addition to going for a run with Sally, Genevieve also has to do weight training in the training room under Sally's supervision after breakfast.
After finishing weight training, Genevieve felt weak in her arms and legs. Yet, she was still forced to practice shadow boxing, with a minimum of two hundred repetitions.
Genevieve had originally planned her daily routine: every morning, she would train with Sally, and in the afternoon, she would spend time reading and studying. Around five o'clock, she would go to the school to pick up her child.
After picking up the kids from school, learn to cook a couple of dishes with the housekeeper to treat the man of the house. In the evening, spend time playing games with the children and watch some TV shows together.
As a result, after she finished her weight training, she was so tired that all she wanted to do was lie down and not do anything else.
Seeing her struggle so much, Sally couldn't bear it in her heart. "Forget it, Steven and I can protect the two children. Even if we're not around, we'll arrange for bodyguards to follow you."
"No, we must keep our word," Genevieve wiped the sweat from her forehead.
After a period of weight training, Genevieve has lost quite a bit of weight and her figure has improved. Previously, she had a more flamboyant demeanor, but now she exudes an air of elegance.
Even if he just stood there without saying a word, a single glance was enough to intimidate others.
Genevieve tightened the hand wrap on her hand and said, catching her breath, "Steven has been with Mando for over a decade, it's time for him to live his own life. Besides, once you get pregnant, you'll need to take care of yourself, and you won't be able to be with Amanda and the others every day."
Seeing Genevieve persist, Sally gave a faint smile and said, "Alright, let's do a twenty-minute resistance training later."
On the other side, Yuvan had been married to Eurydice for less than a month when he got into an argument with his father, Phineus, over some matters.
Yuvan studied post-impressionist oil painting and, at a young age, he had already secured a place for himself in the art world.
During his recent attendance at the International Arts Conference, he met an artist who happened to be a descendant of the founder of nineteenth-century Impressionism.
The two of them were having a great conversation, and in order to learn, Yuvan decided to take this painter as his teacher. However, the painter was a Christian from the Xuan Sheng Society, and in order to become his student, one must also join the Xuan Sheng Society.
Chapter 1303 I Am Just Afraid
The Zeigler family is a military family, with generations of soldiers from their ancestors to their descendants. Moreover, Phineus holds the position of commanding officer in the Nineteenth Military District.
If Yuvan were a Buddhist, Phineus could at least tolerate it.
As a result, his son, a Chanaea native, went abroad to study painting in a Christian country, which was equivalent to abandoning his own faith, and his heart was completely devoted to it.
Phineus refused to let Yuvan join the church, but Yuvan had already joined, which infuriated Phineus to no end.
Somehow, word of this incident got out and caused quite a stir. Phineus, unable to bear the shame, severed his father-son relationship with Yuvan and removed him from the family registry.
He also ordered Yuvan not to use the surname Zeigler and made him change it to his mother's surname.
During that period, people from both the military and political circles were laughing at the Zeigler family. Some felt that Phineus was too cold-hearted, after all, it was his own son. Believing in a religion shouldn't have led to the severing of their father-son relationship.
Not long after, the political world was shaken by a major event that stunned everyone.
A few years ago, Benedict's brother was a surgeon at a major hospital. One day, he had been drinking and still went on to perform surgery on a patient. Tragically, the patient died on the operating table due to this negligence.
The patient's family could not accept this situation and demanded an explanation from the hospital. They also requested an autopsy to be performed on the patient.
The family of the patient is aware of their child's illness and knows that a minor surgery will suffice. Moreover, even if there are risks associated with the surgery, it will not be fatal.
At that time, Benedict's brother was just about to be promoted to vice-principal.
He was afraid that if the news of him performing surgery after drinking alcohol got out, his career would be over. So, he used his influence to bribe the medical staff and the autopsy personnel, making them testify that the fault lay with the patient themselves.
The patient's family reported the case to the Supreme Court, but they were intimidated by people hired by Benedict's brother.
An accidental fall led to a stroke that paralyzed half of their body, forcing them to lie in bed for the rest of their life. The other person, while arguing with some people, had one of their hands broken by them and never dared to bring up the matter again.
After the incident was exposed, Benedict's brother was immediately taken to the police station for questioning.
Benedict suffered a defeat in the election, and his associates were dealt with by Armand one by one. As if things weren't bad enough, this time his brother's medical accident dragged him into the mess as well.
After Benedict's brother was convicted with irrefutable evidence, Benedict was also expelled from the party, and his career was completely over.
Not long after, Yuvan also divorced Eurydice.
Genevieve really thought that Yuvan had a falling out with Phineus over learning to paint, and even called to persuade Yuvan. It wasn't until Benedict's medical accident was exposed that she suddenly realized the truth.
Today was a Saturday, and Armand had been busy at work in the government office until past one o'clock. When he arrived home, Genevieve had just come out of the training room.
Her sweat-soaked athletic clothes clung to her body, and her hair was damp as well. She looked quite miserable.
Seeing Armand return, Genevieve threw herself at him as if she had been greatly wronged. However, she had been practicing shadow boxing for two hours in the afternoon, and now her limbs were weak, so she couldn't even hold onto him.
Armand felt both heartache and amusement as he carried her upstairs.
Genevieve didn't hold back, wiping the sweat from her face onto his sweater. She caught a whiff of the faint sandalwood scent on him, which smelled really nice.
"Why did you come back at this time?"
"I'm tired from working every day too, so I want to take a break on the weekend and come back to spend time with you." Armand carried Genevieve to the bathroom and helped her take off her sweaty workout clothes.
Genevieve was drenched in sweat and feeling extremely uncomfortable, but she couldn't take a shower right after finishing her training.
She sat in the soft chair, waiting like a child for Armand to wring out a hot towel to help her wipe the sweat off her body.
Seeing the man's gentle and attentive actions, Genevieve's heart almost melted. "They say women age faster than men, Mando. If I were lying in bed at the age of sixty or seventy, would you still take care of me like this?"
Chapter 1304 I Happen To Love You
Armand asked with a smile, "So, who do you want to take care of you?"
"I'm just afraid you'll dislike me," Genevieve frowned and said worriedly, "When people get old, they have wrinkles and their skin becomes loose. I'm afraid you'll see my withered body..."
Genevieve became more and more frightened as she spoke, "Mando, how about we get divorced when I turn fifty? You can just remember me at my most beautiful."
"Don't worry about things that may never happen," Armand said as he picked up the camisole nightgown from the side and helped her put it on.
"When you're fifty and I'm old, I'll have wrinkles too, and I'm afraid you'll dislike me." He pinched her cheek, "After all, you naughty woman, you always tease me about turning forty and being obsessed with appearances."
Genevieve playfully bit his finger and corrected him, "I'm not obsessed with appearances, it's just that I happen to love you, and you just happen to meet my standards."
She was a bit naughty, her moist tongue gliding over his fingers.
Armand's eyes deepened, unable to resist the woman's subtle tease. He bent down, cupping her face, and kissed her.
Genevieve looked up and responded, her hand slipping under the hem of his sweater, just touching his tense abs. However, the man grabbed her wrist and pulled her restless hand out.
Genevieve's eyes were slightly red, and she looked at him with a puzzled expression on her face.
Armand lifted her from the chair and walked out of the bathroom, "I'll give you a massage on your arms and back, otherwise you'll be in pain and kick me while sleeping tonight."
When Genevieve first started weight training, she accidentally overexerted herself several times, causing her body to ache while sleeping. Throughout the night, she unknowingly kicked him off the bed countless times.
Later on, every time Genevieve came out of the training room, Armand would help her with a muscle massage before going to bed at night.
Because being kicked out of bed in the early morning is really an awful feeling.
Genevieve's limbs were still a bit sore, but as she lay in bed and Armand massaged her for a while, she felt so comfortable that she almost fell asleep.
Genevieve took a sip of water through the straw to quench her thirst, then laid her head back down on the pillow. "Yuvan called me this morning. He and Eurydice are getting a divorce."
"Mando, your arrangement is so ingenious," she exclaimed.
When Yuvan and Eurydice first got married, Genevieve knew that Mando must have arranged everything perfectly. However, she never expected him to completely uproot the Gaudette family and put an end to Benedict's career.
Armand warmed the essential oil in his palms and began massaging her calf.
He said calmly, "Benedict has great ambitions and a clever daughter. If we don't bring down the Gaudette family, as long as he gets a chance, Benedict will make a comeback."
Genevieve turned her head to look at the man, "Mando, you're as good as ten teams by yourself. Is there anyone who can compete with you?"
Armand chuckled, "Your husband is indeed impressive, but he's not all-powerful. Sean also helped out quite a bit in dealing with the Gaudette family situation."
Armand had initially estimated that dealing with the Gaudette family would take at least two or three years, but the information in Zephyr's hands was lethal to the Gaudette family.
That's why he was able to deal with the Gaudette family in just one month.
Genevieve said with surprise, "Isn't he Eurydice's cousin? My car broke down on the road before, and Sean helped me fix it. After that, I kept running into him several times, and I always felt it wasn't a coincidence..."
However, Genevieve began to feel that she was meeting Sean too frequently, and he must have some purpose in doing so.
He didn't know that he was Eurydice's cousin.
Armand said, "Of course it's not a coincidence. Eurydice deliberately transferred Sean from Feston to Jadeborough, hoping he would get involved with you."
Genevieve paused for a moment, squinting at him, "So, you knew all along?"
Chapter 1305 I Will Be Jealous
"At that time, you didn't have much contact with him, so I didn't need to pay attention to his every move," Armand said. "Besides, you're not the kind of woman who would easily fall for someone else."
As he praised himself like this, Genevieve didn't know what to say.
Armand told Genevieve, "Even before Sean was transferred to Jadeborough, I had been keeping an eye on the Gaudette family. I investigated their relatives and learned about his connection to them. Later, I had a few conversations with him. Sean is related to the Gaudette family, but his mother had a feud with Benedict's wife, and he has always wanted to avenge his mother."
It seems Genevieve understood, "He knows you don't like the Gaudette family either, so he wants to work with you to get rid of the Gaudette family?"
"Mmm." Armand rolled a heated stone over her massaged thigh. "There are some things about Lostaria that I had Sean reveal to Eurydice, in order to gain her trust."
"Eurydice thought she had everything under control, but all she saw was what I deliberately allowed her to see."
Armand noticed that Genevieve had been silent for quite some time. When he looked up, he found her gazing at him with her face turned to the side.
He brushed the strands of hair from her forehead, "Did the hot stone burn your skin?"
Genevieve shook her head, "No, I think it's good that you're my man, otherwise..."
"Otherwise, what?"
"Otherwise, I'll be so jealous." Genevieve pouted and muttered, "Thinking about a smart man like you marrying other women, like Eurydice or Marilyn, I would definitely be eaten up by jealousy."
"I love hearing that." Armand chuckled softly, leaning in to give her a kiss.
Genevieve snuggled lazily in the man's arms, her fingers playing with his short hair. "Mando, your birthday is coming up soon. How do you want to celebrate it?”
Armand frowned, "I don't want to think about it."
Originally, there was already a significant age gap between him and Genevieve. Every time they celebrated a birthday, it felt like a reminder that he had aged another year.
This feeling made him very uncomfortable.
Genevieve laughed and teased him, "I really like you, uncle, for being mature, stable, and good at comforting people, plus your physical strength is not bad. I don't even care for those handsome men in their twenties."
"Last time it was your birthday, I was there, but Luc and the others weren't. So this time, it'll just be your beloved wife and child accompanying you. How does that sound?"
Armand's eyes were filled with a gentle warmth, "As long as you've made a decision, that's good."
"What gift do you want?" Fearing the man wouldn't choose, Genevieve added, "Don't let me decide, I might consider myself as a gift, lying on the bed waiting for you to unwrap."
"Not bad at all," he said with a smile.
Genevieve rolled her eyes and scoffed, "What's the point of that!"
Armand thought for a moment and said, "How about you make me a gift with your own hands? I really liked the PowerPoint you made before. Or you could knit me a scarf."
"Alright," Genevieve said enthusiastically, "I'll go buy the yarn tomorrow."
Lucian and Amanda went to play at Little Asel's place, so Genevieve didn't have to take care of the children. The next day, she asked Sally for a day off and invited her to go shopping for yarn together.
Sally's mother often used to visit a yarn store, where she had a good relationship with the owner. Whenever they met, Sally would greet her as "Auntie."
She took Genevieve to that store.
After arriving at the yarn store, Genevieve showed the owner the attractive men's scarf designs she had found online the night before.
Upon learning that Genevieve wanted to knit a scarf as a birthday gift for her husband, the female shop owner said, "Spring is just two months away, and your husband won't be able to wear the scarf. Why don't you make a set of pajamas for him instead?"
Genevieve felt the same way, but she worriedly said, "I'm a bit clumsy. I'm afraid I won't be able to knit a scarf in time for his birthday on the eighteenth of this month."
Chapter 1306 Wanting To Make Him A Pair Of Pajamas
"No problem, you can ask the tailor to help you with it." The boss gave Genevieve the address of a tailor shop, saying that the master there was her husband's cousin, and she was very skilled.
However, this master craftsman is a bit arrogant and only serves regular customers.
If it weren't for Genevieve being introduced by Sally, and the female boss having a good relationship with Miranda, the introduction wouldn't have happened.
This tailor shop is located on an old street near the city center, where remnants of ancient architecture still remain. The street is lined with red walls and green tiles, exuding a charming atmosphere.
The street was bustling with food vendors, fruit stands, and stationery stores, offering a bit of everything. Genevieve quickly found the tailor shop she was looking for.
The store wasn't very big, only about thirty square meters in size. The shelves were filled with various fabrics, but there wasn't a single clothing sample on display.
A woman dressed in a teal slit gown, with a head full of white silk, stood in front of a workbench, cutting a piece of fabric.
Hearing the sound of the wind chimes, she turned her head to look towards the door.
"Hello," Genevieve greeted the teacher.
Upon learning that Genevieve was introduced by his cousin who owns a yarn store, the old master put down his work.
"I'm Joule, you can call me Mrs. Joule."
Genevieve said, "You don't look old at all. Calling you grandma would be an understatement, wouldn't it? Is it the magic of the Three-Point River?"
"Ginger is the essence of ginger," the old master simply explained.
Genevieve paused for a moment, then smiled lightly and said, "What a coincidence, my friend's name is also Joule, and she's a designer too. However, she specializes in streetwear."
Leila Joule took off her glasses and asked with curiosity, "What is streetwear?"
Genevieve saw Leila wearing a gown and, considering the location of the store, guessed that her clientele must be mostly mothers and grandmothers.
Genevieve said, "She designs the kind of clothes that young people like."
Afraid that Leila might not understand, Genevieve showed her the photo.
After looking at the clothes in the photos, Leila finally understood what streetwear was. "I mostly make gowns in my designs, but not many young people like gowns nowadays."
"I quite like it, I even bought two gowns while shopping before," Genevieve laughed, "but my husband won't let me wear them."
Gowns are the best type of clothing to accentuate a woman's figure and charm. Armand has a particular fondness for gowns, but he only allows them to be worn for his viewing pleasure, not to be worn outside
In order not to let Genevieve wear a gown outside, Armand signed several unequal treaties with her.
Leila noticed that Genevieve really liked gowns, so she started to educate her about the various authentic gown styles, and they couldn't stop chatting about it.
Genevieve just listened quietly.
The two of them sat down in front of the coffee table in the lounge. Leila prepared some coffee and poured a cup for Genevieve. "Since your friend is a designer, why don't you ask her for help?"
Genevieve smiled and simply said, "She's not feeling well and is resting at home, so I shouldn't disturb her."
Leila didn't intend to pry into others' personal affairs. After taking a sip of her cappuccino, she asked, "What kind of clothes do you want to make for your husband?"
"Pajamas," Genevieve said. "But I'm not very good with my hands, so just teach me how to make the simplest kind."
Leila said, "It's easy to make both pajamas and everyday clothes. Just choose the fabric you want for the pajamas, measure the size, and I'll teach you how to make them later."
Genevieve had bought Armand various types of pajamas, including silk and pure cotton ones. However, she noticed that Armand had a preference for the pure cotton pajamas.
So she chose a piece of dark blue pure cotton fabric.
Leila wrote down the body parts she needed to measure on a piece of paper and handed it to Genevieve along with a flexible tape measure.
Genevieve took the item and said, "It's almost noon, how about I treat you to lunch?"
She noticed that the elderly person was wearing a diamond bracelet worth at least a million, so they didn't seem to be short of money. She guessed that they probably opened the tailor shop just to have something to do.
She doesn't like giving money, so she treats people to meals instead.
Chapter 1307 You Are Afraid Of Her Getting Jealous
Afraid that Leila might refuse, Genevieve added, "My husband has gone to work, and I'll be eating alone at home anyway. Having dinner with you would give us a chance to chat." "The steak at Golden Restaurant is authentic and delicious, and it's just a short drive away, about ten minutes or so."
Genevieve had already said as much, so Leila couldn't really refuse. There wasn't much for her to tidy up in the store anyway, so she locked the door and followed Genevieve into the car. Genevieve called the owner of Golden Restaurant in advance and reserved a private room.
After arriving at the Golden Restaurant, Genevieve confidently led Leila to a private room down the hallway. She first let Leila enter the room, and then went to the front desk to get a lime.
As she carried the lime back to the private room, the door of the room in front of her suddenly opened, and two people came out from inside.
Genevieve was originally just passing by, but when she saw the man's face, she stopped in her tracks.
The woman who came out from behind was wearing a tight sweater and a short skirt, her wavy brown hair lazily draped over her shoulders. She had an amazing figure, and when she raised her hand to brush her hair, she exuded charm and elegance, a perfect example of a mature and attractive woman.
Armand also saw Genevieve, and the coldness between his eyebrows disappeared instantly. He asked softly, "Are you here to have a meal with Sally?"
"No, I went to the company with a friend, Sally."
Genevieve shifted her gaze away from the woman and casually asked him, "Are you going to introduce me to her?"
Before Armand could speak, the woman started chatting with Genevieve, "I was just saying at dinner that Mando is stingy for not introducing his wife to me, and I didn't expect to meet her here." Armand's face turned slightly pale in an instant, "You don't have to call me Mando, just call me Mr. Faulkner."
"You're older than me, and you're the fourth in the Faulkner family, so it would be impolite not to call you Mando." The woman glanced at Genevieve and then laughed with understanding. She said, "Is it because you're afraid Mrs. Faulkner will be jealous?"
Genevieve looked at Armand's expression, guessing that he didn't really want to deal with this woman.
However, it seems like they have some sort of connection.
"He knows that I'm a bit petty and jealous, so he doesn't let others call him Mando," Genevieve said with a slight smile. "Everyone else follows suit and doesn't deliberately provoke him."
The woman seemed not to notice the sarcasm in Genevieve's words and laughed, "I'll remember that, and I promise I won't get it wrong again in the future."
"Allow me to introduce myself, I am Scarlette."
The woman reached out and exchanged a light handshake with Genevieve. "My family has been friends with the Faulkner family for generations. When I was young, I often went to play at the Faulkner residence."
Genevieve nodded, "The famous Xedells families have a good relationship with the Faulkner family. I was quite busy today, and Mando didn't want to disturb me, so he didn't tell me about inviting you to dinner."
"Golden Restaurant requires reservations, so it seems he put thought into inviting you for a meal. That reassures me."
Scarlette Murphy nodded with a smile, "The taste of the food here is indeed amazing."
"Well, I won't bother you two anymore, I need to go greet my friends," Genevieve said, giving Armand a playful finger wave.
Armand bent down, and Genevieve gave him a kiss on the lips.
Genevieve said, "Once you're done with your work in the afternoon, go to Timothy's and pick up the two kids."
Armand smiled faintly and said, "Alright."
Scarlette watched Genevieve enter the private room ahead and jokingly said to Armand, "Mrs. Faulkner isn't jealous, is she? Asserting her sovereignty in front of me?"
Armand's expression was cold and indifferent, "She would never be jealous for someone unimportant, she just wanted to kiss me, that's all."
"Am I really that insignificant?" Scarlette disagreed with Armand's statement, "I call your father 'uncle,' and besides, if it weren't for me..."
Upon noticing the man's glance towards her, Scarlette was intimidated by his gaze and didn't say anything further.
Chapter 1308 Which Side Do You Usually Prefer?
Genevieve and Leila were chatting while eating in a private room. Genevieve saw the gowns Leila had made for others on her phone, and each one was a stunning masterpiece.
There was an embroidered gown that she seemed to have seen someone wearing before, but she couldn't remember who it was at the moment.
Genevieve also wanted Leila to help her make two gowns, so after dinner, she followed her back to the tailor shop.
When Genevieve returned to Swallow Garden, Armand had also picked up the two children from Timothy.
Genevieve led Armand upstairs to the bedroom and had him stand straight by the window. She then took out a measuring tape from her bag and, following the instructions written on a piece of paper, measured each of his body parts one by one.
Armand was tall, so in order to measure his collar size, Genevieve asked him to bend down.
Watching Genevieve busily working, Armand asked in surprise, "Aren't you knitting a scarf? Why do you need to measure all these things for that?"
Genevieve wrote down his neck data on paper and said without looking up, "All you need to do is be a handyman."
Glancing at the paper in Genevieve's hand, Armand roughly understood that she wanted to make clothes for him and couldn't help but smile silently.
She put so much effort into it that even if the clothes didn't turn out to be good-looking, he would wear them every day in the future.
Armand spread his arms wide, making it easier for her to measure his arm length. "Darling, are you not angry?"
Genevieve looked at the man with a puzzled expression. After about ten seconds, she finally understood what Armand was saying and asked in response, "Did you sleep with her?"
Armand said helplessly, "No."
"So, you like her, and you've had an emotional affair?"
"No."
"What do I have to be angry about?" Genevieve wrote on the paper with a pen, casually saying, "Your father can marry three wives, so I don't find it strange that you know many women. Besides, we're an old married couple, don't I trust you?"
Armand was worried that Scarlette had been too provocative earlier, causing Genevieve to overthink, but she didn't seem to care about it at all.
He had just breathed a sigh of relief when he heard Genevieve say, "Even if you two have something going on, I'm not afraid. My family is so rich that I can still live a carefree life without you, and I can even find someone younger."
"Alright," Armand interrupted Genevieve before she could say anything more, otherwise, he would be fuming with anger.
Genevieve watched the man's reaction and teased with a smile, "Didn't you ask me first? If you really like it, I can make it happen for you. I'm not a stingy person."
Armand clenched his jaw and simply stopped responding to her words.
Genevieve crouched down to help the man measure his pant length, pulling the measuring tape down from his waist.
Armand had a well-proportioned body, with broad shoulders and narrow hips. His long, slender legs were perfectly straight, making him look like a lethal weapon.
As Genevieve crouched down close to the man, she couldn't help but see everything when she looked up.
She suddenly remembered some conversations she had with Charlotte's sisters about men, and decided to tease Armand a bit.
"Mando."
"Hmm?" Armand lowered his gaze to look at her.
Genevieve pulled the other end of the measuring tape to the ground, looked down at the numbers, and asked, "Which side do you usually prefer?"
Armand said, "How did you suddenly come up with this question?"
"I'm curious," Genevieve glanced at the space between his legs and raised an eyebrow, "I've heard that sitting with crossed legs can be uncomfortable for you guys. Is that true?"
"Um."
Genevieve asked again, "If you wear tight pants, can you tell which side it's placed on?"
"Do you really want to know?"
Armand lifted her hand and placed it on the belt, causing Genevieve to lean forward and almost bump into the man's leg. "Why don't you see for yourself?"
Genevieve originally wanted to tease the man and see his amusing facial expressions, but she didn't expect to be flirted with instead.
Chapter 1309 The Measurement Is Inaccurate
Genevieve was about to stand up when Armand placed one hand on her shoulder, holding her down. With his other hand, he gently slid his fingers across her beautiful lips, his eyes dark and mysterious. "Isn't there still the hip measurement to take?"
"I just measured it." Genevieve sensed danger in the air, her scalp tingling with apprehension. Unfortunately, he had a firm grip on her shoulder, preventing her from leaving.
Armand, "The measurement is inaccurate, measure it again."
He took the measuring tape from Genevieve's hand and placed one end at the edge of her lips.
Genevieve seemed to understand the playful mood the man was in. She pursed her lips, then bit one end of the measuring tape, passing it around his body from behind, and biting the other end as well. She breathed softly, her cheek brushing against his pants...
Armand, enduring with patience, had veins bulging on his neck. He pulled the measuring tape out of Genevieve's mouth and said in a hoarse voice, "Fifteen minutes, huh?"
Genevieve looked up at him with a mischievous glint in her eyes, "I don't do deals that result in a loss."
Armand felt helpless, and then bent down to pick her up, heading towards the bathroom. "You can set the conditions, and if I refuse, I'll be your little puppy."
In the evening, Amanda said she wanted to eat beef ravioli and even volunteered to help make it.
Armand brought the prepared filling and pastry sheets to the dining table. Amanda washed her hands and picked up a pastry sheet. She scooped a spoonful of filling onto it and skillfully pinched it together. After making one, she immediately showed it to Genevieve, "How about it, Mommy? My ravioli looks good, right?"
"It looks amazing!" Although her daughter's creation looked more like a bun than a ravioli, Genevieve still praised her enthusiastically, "Baby's hands are even more skillful than Mommy's." Amanda smiled proudly.
Suddenly, she remembered something, wiped her hands clean with a warm towel, and quickly rushed up to the second floor.
In no time, Amanda came down with a small emerald jar in her hand.
This small emerald jar is shaped like a chimera and was crafted by a master during the early Qing Dynasty. It later found its way to a Yartran auction.
Armand spent nearly twenty million to purchase it as a birthday gift for Amanda.
Because there is a hole at the bottom, the coins thrown in can be poured out, just like a piggy bank. Every time Amanda goes out to buy ice cream, she deliberately uses cash and saves the change inside. It's quite bizarre that a jar worth tens of millions is protecting just a dozen or so coins.
Amanda dug out seven or eight plum blossom coins from the small emerald jar. She washed them several times in water to disinfect them, and then wiped the moisture off with a dry paper towel. Genevieve was a bit curious and couldn't help but ask, "Amanda, what are you doing with the coin?"
"Let's put a coin in the ravioli," Amanda said softly. "I heard that if you find a coin in your ravioli, your wishes will come true!"
Genevieve teased her, "What do you want? Tell mommy."
Amanda was about to speak, but instead she hummed at Genevieve, "I won't say it, because if I do, it won't come true."
Amanda originally wanted to hide the coin inside the ravioli she made, but after looking at it from different angles, she thought the shape of her ravioli wasn't very appealing and the coin would be easily discovered when eaten.
In the end, she entrusted the task to Armand.
Amanda wrapped a few ravioli and then felt tired, so she moved closer to Genevieve and started a conversation, "Mommy, is Aunt Jojo sick?"
Amanda and Lucian stayed at Timothy's place for two days, but she noticed that Johanna ignored her and little Asel. Johanna didn't hold Asel and seemed to enjoy sitting on the couch, lost in her thoughts. Genevieve felt that her child was still young and didn't want her to know about those things.
She simply said, "Your Aunt Jojo isn't sick, she just doesn't like to talk much. So, from now on, you should spend more time with Lucian and little Asel, okay?"
Amanda didn't ask any further questions and nodded her head, "I will, and I'll also try my best to cheer Aunt Jojo up!"
Chapter 1310 You Are Free
"Such a good girl." Genevieve bent down and kissed her cheek. "If you and Lucian can get Aunt Jojo to talk, Mommy will grant you both a wish, and you can ask for anything you want."
Amanda's eyes lit up, and she hooked her pinky finger with Genevieve's. "Then it's settled!"
The family was supposed to make ravioli together, but it turned out that, except for Armand, the mother and her two daughters were not skilled at it. As a result, Armand ended up making more than two hundred ravioli by himself.
Amanda took two containers, filled them with ravioli, and placed them in the freezer. She said that once they were frozen, she would give them to Johanna.
After dinner, Armand played with the children for a while, and then sent them to their rooms to sleep. He also returned to his bedroom and went to the bathroom to prepare a bath, so that Genevieve could enjoy a relaxing soak later.
Armand walked to the bedside and lit the aroma lamp, only to notice several folders placed on the nightstand.
When Genevieve returned to the bedroom, she saw the man sitting on the edge of the bed, flipping through some documents.
She couldn't help but complain to him, "I never expected that a secretary has to do so many things. Lately, all I've been doing is going to the training room and reviewing these documents. I feel like my brain is going to explode."
Armand put down the documents and pulled her over to sit on his lap. "Being the mayor's secretary isn't that easy. After just one year, half of my hair has turned white."
Genevieve pinched his chin, feigning anger, and said, "Do you think I can't get in?"
"How could that be? My wife is so smart, she would excel in the Department of Foreign Affairs..." Armand lowered his head and gently kissed her hand.
"Just do what you like, there's no need to change specifically for me." He looked at Genevieve with gentle eyes, "I don't want to confine you, you are free."
Genevieve knew that he understood and respected her more.
Even many years ago, when she wanted a divorce, he didn't put up much resistance.
Armand always prioritized Genevieve's feelings and never forced her to do anything she didn't want to do. It was because of his understanding and support that Genevieve wanted to share some of the burden with him.
Genevieve hugged the man tightly and gently nuzzled his neck.
After a while, she pretended to be worried and said, "What if there are many beautiful women in your office and they steal you away from me?"
Armand gently touched her hair and thoughtfully said, "Then I'll put your picture on my office desk. When they see how beautiful you are, they'll feel ashamed of themselves and won't dare to have any thoughts about me."
"Don't do that, I have my pride."
As the two were chatting, Genevieve's phone on the bed rang. Armand, who was closer, picked up the phone and handed it to her.
Genevieve saw that it was Charlotte calling, so she answered, "Hello."
When she returned, she learned from Armand that the Benson family had gone bankrupt. Timothy had arranged jobs for Charlotte's siblings, but due to her busy schedule, she hadn't been in touch with Charlotte.
After a while, a soft and pleasant female voice came through the phone, "Genevieve, are you busy?"
Genevieve paused for a moment.
In her memory, Charlotte was always proud and unrestrained. Even when she faced Beatrix, who had stolen her boyfriend, she would never speak to her like this.
It seems that all of Charlotte's arrogance has now been worn away.
After chatting briefly with Charlotte, Genevieve got up from Armand's embrace and said, "Charlotte needs me for something, I'll go over there for a moment."
"Alright," Armand instructed her, "It's cold outside, so wrap your scarf around you."
"Alright, nagging uncle."
Genevieve gave him a kiss, went downstairs to grab her coat and scarf from the hanger, and casually picked a car from the garage. She then drove to the address Charlotte had given her.
Jadeborough is a southern city where the damp cold of winter is quite intense. No matter how thickly you dress, the chill still manages to seep through your clothes.
In a less-traveled section of Jadeborough, under the streetlights, eight or nine sports cars were parked. They were either Lamborghinis or Maseratis, looking incredibly cool. A group of young men and women were gathered around the cars.
Everyone was dressed in minimal and trendy clothes, seemingly unfazed by the cold winter weather.
A woman wearing black stockings and a short skirt crossed her arms and walked up to Charlotte, chuckling, "Ms. Benson, when did you become such a sore loser?"
