Chapter 871

Genevieve glanced at the black screen and turned to Steven. "Jerry's looking for me. He said he's going to pick me up at the hospital in ten minutes."

He nodded. "Should I accompany you, Mrs. Faulkner?"

"No need." She thought if Armand had borrowed Jerry's identity twice, it meant their relationship was pretty good.

After she had changed her clothes, she received a message from Jerry saying that his car had arrived at the northern exit. So, after she left the inpatient department, she headed to her destination. Upon arriving there, she saw a black minivan sitting at the side of the road.

It was as though the people in the car also saw her because the door opened. A tall man with an extremely attractive face and a pair of dazzling eyes was sitting inside.

She took an additional glance at him.

Upon noticing the look in her eyes, Jerry chuckled. "How about you come closer to my face and take a good look at who I am?"

"No need." The moment he spoke, Genevieve was able to tell who he was. She entered the vehicle and sat next to Jerry.

As she tidied her hair, she asked, "Why are you looking for me?"

"I want you to sign a contract with me." He went straight to the point.

That dumbfounded her slightly before she returned to her senses and raised her voice. "You're Charlotte's ex-boyfriend. If I do that, what do you think she'll do? Are you crazy or am I?" Jerry took out two cans of sparkling water from the cooler nearby and threw one to her.

Once he opened the can and took two sips of the sparkling water, he spoke lazily. "She broke up with me months ago, and I've already lost count of how many girlfriends I've changed since then. There is no way she still remembers me. In any case, you offended Sally. No famous actors but me will be willing to sign a contract with your company."

"That's not good enough," Genevieve spat. I still remember how Charlotte came all the way to Baykeep to find me when she thought I had an affair with Jerry. I can tell she still cares about him. Sally's bullying has already tired me out. I don't want to deal with Charlotte at the same time.

Jerry propped his chin with his hand and stared at Genevieve. "If you sign a contract with me, your company may still rise from the dead. If you don't, it may be gone tomorrow."

She was puzzled. “You and I aren't familiar with each other. Why are you helping me?"

"Because I owe your man a very big favor." His eyebrow raised. "Also, because you're rich, and I need money."

With a sigh, Jerry explained melancholically, "It took me a lot of effort to get together with her. I thought I would be able to reign supreme in the entertainment industry. In the end, my happy days were destroyed by you and your partner. I was blacklisted by her for a couple of months, so I couldn't take on any jobs or earn any money. Don't you think you should compensate me?"

Genevieve felt like she was a little bit in the wrong when she heard that. Indeed, if Armand hadn't been spotted by Charlotte when he was using Jerry's identity to find me that night, she wouldn't have gotten so angry that she broke up with Jerry.

So, she asked, "How much does your termination fee cost?"

"Not much." He gestured to her a number. "Based on my current situation, I think they'll let me go immediately if I pay the fee."

After giving it some thought, she agreed. "I'll tell Mr. Dixon to talk to your boss."

After sending a text message to James, Genevieve said, "I think Charlotte still likes you. Otherwise, she wouldn't have been so angry that night. I'll help you invite her out for a meeting with you tonight. You have to talk things through with her, or both of us will be doomed if I take you in."

"Tsk. Sure," Jerry replied.

After their meeting concluded, she asked his driver to take her to Twilight Tower. Just as she exited the vehicle, the phone rang.

She picked up the phone while walking toward the building. "What's wrong, Bertilla?"

"Mr. Sutton was sent to the police station, Ms. Rachford."

Chapter 872

"What?" Genevieve thought she heard Bertilla wrong and stopped walking. "Why would my brother be sent to the police station?"

"He opened fire at General Loake's daughter..." Bertilla replied.

Steven told Cooper what happened to Genevieve last night. However, Armand didn't tell Steven the whole truth, so Steven thought Sally was the one responsible.

Everyone knew Sally had been attacking Specter Corporation and Genevieve lately. So, when Cooper heard the news that Sally had almost killed Genevieve, he was livid.

In the morning, he sneaked into the underground parking lot at Sally's residential area. She was able to take him down with her skills, but she was still sent to the hospital because she fainted after she was shot in her right shoulder and lost too much blood.

Gerald, upon learning the news of his daughter's assault, was furious. Additionally, Cooper was in illegal possession of a gun, so Gerald wanted the police to press charges against Cooper.

Since Gerald was the one giving the orders, it was likely Cooper would be executed.

That news sent a chill down Genevieve's spine. She quickly hung up the phone. When she saw Jerry's car was about to leave, she stopped it.

Jerry opened the door, letting her in. Then, she hurriedly said, "Go to the police station."

At that moment, there was a paparazzi loitering around Twilight Tower.

When they saw Genevieve exiting Jerry's minivan and then back into his car a few minutes later from afar with their cameras, they quickly took pictures of the scene. After she arrived at the police station, the lawyer she summoned had also arrived.

With the lawyer by her side, she entered the station. She intended to take Cooper's statement and bring the case to court. However, a police officer stopped them.

The officer knew Cooper and Genevieve, so he uttered emotionlessly, "While citizens do have the right to hire a lawyer to defend themselves in court, Cooper was in illegal possession of a gun. Not only that, he used the weapon to hurt the daughter of a military officer, Ms. Rachford. So, this case won't be taken to court. Instead, he'll be directly executed. Naturally, he won't be needing a lawyer."

One of the officer's hands was placed on the stun baton at his waist. It was as though he was prepared to detain Genevieve for the crime of "causing a disturbance at a police station" if she refused to leave. Facing the cold and merciless officer, Genevieve had no choice but to leave the station with her lawyer.

After leaving the building, she sent the lawyer back before giving Timothy a call. The closest military hospital was quite far from the city, so she assumed Sally would be at the General Hospital. Timothy still had no idea Cooper had been detained, so after he asked around the hospital, he told her which ward Sally was staying in.

Sally was considered a soldier, but she had never served in the military before. Since she was doing pretty fine, she didn't get the same treatment as fancy treatment as Robert. Instead, she was staying in a VIP ward on the eighth floor of the inpatient department.

A plain-looking bodyguard was guarding the room outside.

When Genevieve arrived at the ward, she spoke to the bodyguard. "I just want to have a few words with Ms. Loake. Please tell her that I'm here."

The bodyguard entered the room for a moment before coming out and letting her enter.

When she stepped into the ward, she saw Sally wearing a striped hospital gown.

At that moment, Sally was sitting on the bed and using her tablet to watch the news. The moment she heard footsteps at the entrance, she turned her line of sight to the door. Due to her massive blood loss, he face was still quite pale. Despite that, she remained beautiful. Her beauty was akin to a sharp knife.

She stared at Genevieve for two seconds before looking away. "You have three minutes."

"My brother didn't mean to do that. He thought you were the one who tried to throw me into the sea." Genevieve approached the bed and bowed. "I apologize for his impulsive behavior."

"Impulsive?" Sally snorted. "He was aiming for my heart. If I didn't dodge in time, I would be lying in a coffin right now!"

Chapter 873

Genevieve lowered her voice. "I'm sorry."

"Are you done?" After Sally pressed on her tablet, she uttered plainly, "If you are, get out."

Genevieve stood silently for a moment before saying, "If you let my brother go, I promise I won't show up in front of Armand again."

Since Armand had received Ethan's heart, it meant he must take over Robert's position in the future and care for Sally. Once he started working in a government building, the chances of them meeting in the future were few and far between.

If she didn't beg Sally for mercy, it was likely Gerald would execute Cooper tomorrow.

Lastly, it was because of her that Cooper did such an impulsive thing.

Sally turned to her with a cold and merciless look. "Too bad you're too late. This morning, Armand came to find me. He told me he wouldn't marry anyone else except for remarrying you. He's willing to throw away his life for you by trying to return Ethan's heart to me. Even if you don't show up in front of him in the future, he'll still come and find you. I won't be able to stop it, and I won't do anything to you again."

The only thing she wanted was for Ethan to stay by her side, alive. Thus, she mustn't allow Armand to die.

"If I let you take a shot at me, will that be enough to quell your anger and for you to let him go?" Genevieve proposed.

Sally suddenly sneered, "You're a very strange person, Genevieve. I heard he killed your parents. Why are you risking your life to save the man who should be your arch nemesis? What you are doing is making me think that you're stomping on Armand's effort."

No explanation was given by Genevieve as she said, "If that's not enough, you can fire at me twice."

"If anything happens to you, Armand will come knocking on my door. I can't let that happen." Sally's tone was cold as ice.

"Cooper has the guts to shoot me, so he must bear the consequences!"

She glanced at the tablet. "Your three minutes are up. Get out now."

There were still things Genevieve wanted to say, but the bodyguard outside had already entered the room to ask her to leave. She had no choice but to obey.

After stepping out of the inpatient department, she stared at the blue sky feeling all anxious. If I don't devise a plan soon, the next time I hear about Cooper will be news of his death. However, Sally is very stubborn. She's probably letting her father take care of the matter. Should I give Armand a call? Wait, no. He's already in a difficult situation. If I ask him for help, I'll no doubt be throwing him into the fire. Just as Genevieve was going to call for a taxi, a black BMW passed her by. Then the vehicle slowly drove backward and stopped in front of her.

When she thought about what had happened on the cruise ship, her body tensed up. She was about to return to the hospital when the car door opened, and a woman leaned her head out.

"Genevieve."

"Mrs. Lebon." Genevieve relaxed when she saw who was in the car. When she accompanied Cooper to visit Landon's place last time, she met his wife.

Renee was also Yuvan's biological sister.

With a smile, Renee nodded. Seeing how Genevieve wasn't driving, she suggested, "I'm actually going home right now. I can ask the driver to send you back." "Thanks." Genevieve took up the offer and entered the car.

In response, Renee went deeper into the car. After Genevieve was inside the vehicle, Renee glanced at her twice. "You look a little different compared to when you visited my home last time. Your style of clothing seems to have changed."

"I change my style every once in a while. It's what I do." Genevieve smiled.

To prevent Renee from asking further questions, she brought up a topic first. "Why are you here today? Are you feeling unwell somewhere?"

"A tooth on the right side of my mouth had been causing me some pain recently. When I went to check, it turned out I had a wisdom tooth." Renee pointed at her cheek. "I'm afraid of the pain, so I'm going to ask Landon to accompany me when I get it out of my mouth tomorrow."

Chapter 874

"It already sounds painful just by listening to you describing it. If I were you, I would also want someone to be with me during the extraction process," Genevieve said.

The two women continued chatting away for the rest of the journey.

When the car was almost reaching Twilight Tower, Renee looked at Genevieve's side profile and could not help but ask, "Genevieve, do you have a picture of your mom from when she was a child?" "Why do you ask?" Genevieve was puzzled.

After a brief moment of hesitation, Renee decided to tell her the truth. "When I first saw you at my house back then, I had already noticed that you look very much like my aunt. As you know, my aunt has gone missing since she was six."

"Ah," Genevieve exclaimed. After a long moment of silence, she finally returned to her senses and replied, "Maybe we just look alike, and there's nothing more to that..."

"No." Renee shook her head before replying, "Not only do you resemble my aunt, I always get a strange feeling when I see you. My gut feeling tells me that it is related to my aunt. I did share my suspicions with Yuvan a while back, but he told me not to continue looking into the matter. However, I got the same strange feeling when I saw you again this time."

Renee paused and showed Genevieve a picture saved on her phone. "This was taken when my aunt was six. You should try and find some of your mom's childhood photos...."

Previously, Genevieve had come across a photo album containing pictures of Herbert's second daughter, and one of them was identical to the one Renee had.

Soon, the car was parked outside of Twilight Tower.

Before Genevieve got out of the car, Renee said, "If your mom does not look like the person in the photo, that would mean that I've guessed wrongly. However, I am quite certain that your mom is my aunt.” "Sure," Genevieve nodded and continued, "I'll let you know when I find my mom's photo."

Genevieve's grandparents used to stay in the southern district, where her mother had grown up. Subsequently, the family moved to live in the city, but most of her mother's belongings from childhood remained in their old house in the southern district.

Genevieve had never been to the old house, and neither had she seen her mother's childhood photos.

Before she entered the building, she looked at the picture of the little girl which Renee had sent her and recalled Landon telling her the same thing as what Renee had told her.

Is it really possible for two completely unrelated people to resemble each other so much?

The elevator door opened on the floor where the production company was. However, Genevieve closed the door at once and pressed the button to the first floor. She hurried out of the elevator when she reached the lobby and made a call.

"Ms. Rachford," Bertilla answered after just one ring.

"Go to my brother's office now and check his computer to see if there are any photos of me from when I was a child. Also, send me the address of my grandparents' old house in the southern district." Genevieve spoke quickly.

"Understood." Bertilla worked on it right after the call ended.

Genevieve texted Steven to inform him to keep an eye on what was going on at the police station. When Genevieve was in a cab on the way to the southern district, she received a message from Bertilla, containing her childhood photos and the exact address of her grandparents' old house.

Genevieve compared her photos with the one Renee had sent her immediately and noticed that she did not resemble the little girl in the picture.

Her beauty was mostly inherited from her mother. If she was really the daughter of Herbert's second daughter, by right, there should be some resemblance between both of them.

At that thought, Genevieve's urge to find out the truth subsided.

Although she was quite sure that they were simply two unrelated people who looked like each other, since she was already on her way to the southern district, Genevieve decided that there was no harm in going there to take a look.

Half an hour later, the cab arrived at the address of the old house. After getting out of the cab, Genevieve spotted an old bungalow which was built in retro style from a distance.

She stood at the door for a while, and just when she was about to text Bertilla to ask her if the old house was currently occupied, a middle-aged woman who was carrying groceries walked over.

Chapter 875

"Who are you looking for?" the woman asked, looking slightly surprised to see Genevieve.

Genevieve saw the woman taking out her keys from her pocket and guessed that she might be the housekeeper.

"Mia is my mom. I just want to take a look at my grandparents' house," Genevieve replied before showing the woman a few photos of her and her mother.

After verifying Genevieve's identity, the woman appeared to be more relaxed and opened the door for her to enter.

Genevieve got to know that the woman's last name was Roberts and that her mother had worked for the Quinn family previously. After the death of Old Mr. Quinn and his wife, Mrs. Roberts' health condition deteriorated and was no longer able to look after the property. As such, she ended up moving in with her brother. Mrs. Roberts and her family were currently living in the old bungalow as her son was studying in the area.

Mrs. Roberts' entire family stayed on the first floor. She had been taking good care of the property over the years and did not allow anyone to go upstairs to the second floor.

After knowing that Genevieve was there to look for her mother's belongings, Mrs. Roberts took Genevieve upstairs to the second floor.

Genevieve searched her mother's old bedroom and found a photo album which was kept in a drawer.

As the photo album was locked, Genevieve found a tool to pry open the lock. When she looked through the album, she saw that there were no childhood photos but only a few photos of her mother as an adult. Just then, one special photo caught Genevieve's attention.

It was a photo of a man who was dressed in a black shirt rimmed with gold threads. He was leaning against the couch in a relaxed manner and had an imposing presence.

The man had well-sculpted features and a pair of deep-set purple eyes. He was cocking his eyebrows and had a cigarette in his mouth as he smiled at the camera.

The subtle smirk on his face, combined with his attractive features and refined appearance, added to his allure.

The reflection of the woman taking the photo could be seen in the man's clear purple eyes, which were filled with gentleness and affection.

Genevieve had visited many countries with her children previously and had encountered all sorts of people. However, she had not met anyone who had purple eyes.

Even though the man in her mother's photo album did not seem familiar to her, Genevieve was sure that he was a special person to her mother.

Most likely, he was one of her mother's ex-boyfriends.

As Genevieve's parents had both passed away and she was not interested in her mother's private affairs, she put the photo album back into the drawer after locking it. Then, she headed to her grandparents' room to continue her search.

However, after searching the entire house, including the storeroom, Genevieve was still unable to find a single photo of her mother from when she was a child.

As such, Genevieve approached Mrs. Roberts and asked, "Have you thrown anything away while tidying the house after my grandparents passed away?"

"I didn't remove anything other than some old clothes,” the woman answered.

Genevieve felt slightly perplexed after hearing that.

That was the house her mother had grown up in. If Mrs. Roberts had not thrown anything away and nothing had happened to the house, it did not make sense to her that there was not even a single childhood photo of her mother in the house.

Wouldn't Granddad have at least taken pictures of Mom on her birthdays?

While Genevieve was deep in thought, she received a call from Yuvan. "Genevieve, I'm in Jadeborough, and I've something for you. Where are you now?"

Genevieve guessed that the man's talk with Mindy had reached a conclusion. Coincidentally, she was going to look for Yuvan to ask him something as well.

"I'm in the southern district now and will reach the city in about one and a half hours," Genevieve replied while glancing at her watch before continuing, "Meet me at the restaurant at seven thirty p.m. later. I'll treat you to dinner."

"Sure."

After hanging up, Genevieve handed a wad of cash to Mrs. Roberts and said, "Please help me check with your mom if she had seen any of my mom's childhood photos."

"Oh, no problem." Mrs. Roberts kept the cash and saved Genevieve's number in her phone.

Chapter 876

The taxi stopped by the roadside near the building. Genevieve took the elevator and arrived at the restaurant in a short time. She looked around and found Yuvan sitting by the window.

Yuvan wanted to stand up as soon as she saw Genevieve. However, Genevieve waved her hand, hurriedly walked over, and sat opposite him.

"Have you ordered?"

"Not yet." Yuvan handed the menu to her.

The waiter walked out after taking their orders.

Genevieve took a sip of the lemon water and asked, "How is it?"

Yuvan pushed his phone to Genevieve and sighed. "I almost sacrificed myself just to get this recording. This is really a lossmaking deal."

After listening to the recording, Genevieve smiled.

It just proved that her suspicion earlier was indeed correct.

Genevieve quickly sent the recording to her phone and asked the waiter to bring them a bottle of wine. After letting the wine breathe, she poured a glass for Yuvan.

"Mr. Zeigler, I would like to make a toast to you. Thank you for saving a marriage that was about to fall apart."

Yuvan was nonplussed and raised his glass at Genevieve. "I think you should investigate Mindy. She studies oil painting and is blacklisted by the art industry, but she still lives a good life."

"I should leave it to Timothy to do the investigation. If I can do everything for him, his wife should marry me instead!" said Genevieve.

Yuvan was speechless.

In fact, Genevieve was not close with Yuvan and the Zeigler family. She went to Baykeep to take care of Herbert because she had a deal with Yuvan.

She wanted to ask a favor from Yuvan, and that would get the Zeigler family involved too.

Besides, Genevieve did not know what she could offer to let Yuvan agree to help her.

When Genevieve was in a dilemma, Yuvan said, "I heard that Cooper injured General Loake's daughter and was taken to the police station. My father has a pretty good relationship with General Loake. I can give my father a call and ask him to get General Loake to release Cooper."

"Really? I was actually thinking to ask for your help just now. But I was afraid I would put your family in a difficult position as I don't want your family to offend the Loake family because of this matter." Genevieve breathed a sigh of relief.

Yuvan smiled. "Sadness is written all over your face. I can see it as soon as I saw you."

Genevieve pursed her lips embarrassedly and smiled. "I have nothing to give you. What about money? If you need investment for your gallery in the future, just come look for me. If you need a model for your painting, you can call me too."

"Sure. I'll keep that in mind." Yuvan did not reject her.

Genevieve pondered for a moment after taking a sip of wine and said, "I think your Aunt Juliana might be my mother..."

Yuvan was silent for a moment. "Why do you think so?"

"I met your sister when I came out of the hospital this afternoon. She said I look a lot like your aunt, and she also said that she had a strange feeling the first time she saw me. I went back to my granddad's hometown to look for pictures of my mom when I was a child. Unfortunately, I did not find any..." said Genevieve.

Genevieve took a glance at Yuvan and continued, "Although I did not find the picture of my mom when I was a child, I had a sense of familiarity when I saw the picture of Juliana. It felt as if I have known her for a long time. I've never felt this way before."

Seeing that Yuvan did not respond, Genevieve asked, "Do you think I'm being ridiculous?"

Yuvan opened the album on his phone and pushed the phone in front of Genevieve. "When I first saw you, I had a strange feeling too. My grandpa has so many grandchildren, but you're the only one who can make him so happy. So, I took the hair of the two of you for a DNA test. But..."

Genevieve zoomed in on the test result and saw that she was not related to Herbert.

She raised her head and looked at Yuvan. "DNA test can be faked too."

Chapter 877

"Sylvie has attempted twice to forge the DNA test result. So, I'm very cautious this time. I asked my professor's husband to find someone to do this DNA test. Dr. Lawson had been a private doctor for my grandpa for about three years," said Yuvan.

Genevieve was a little disappointed by the DNA test result. However, as she thought further, she felt it was right. When she compared her childhood photos with Juliana, she did not feel that they looked alike

too.

Her mother was also the only daughter, and the hospital had the information.

"It seems that Juliana and I just look alike and nothing else." Genevieve returned the phone to Yuvan.

"My grandpa likes you very much and has treated you as his own granddaughter. He has been waiting for you to read to him. Besides, I don't mind having another sister," said Yuvan.

"Forget it. After all, we're not really blood-related. How can you simply take me as your sister?" Genevieve shook her head, smiling.

Genevieve added, "Why don't you give your dad a call right now? General Loake is very angry. I'm afraid that he will use his power and execute my brother at the police station."

"Okay. He should be free by now." Yuvan picked up his phone from the table and called his father.

When Genevieve just sent the recording to Timothy, she received a call from Charlotte.

"Hello..."

Before she could finish her word, Charlotte started screaming at her angrily, "Genevieve, I want to kill you! I work so hard for you, and you date my man?"

Genevieve's ear was almost deaf when she screamed. "I wanted to call you this afternoon, but something urgent came up..."

"What was so urgent? Did you guys go to the hotel?"

There was a thumping sound from Charlotte's side as if she was kicking something. "No wonder I felt that the perfume smell on your body was so familiar. So, you were the one that he kissed at the bar that day! You're such a b*tch!"

Genevieve waited for her to finish scolding and said, "There are things that I'm unable to tell you clearly over the phone. Can you wait for me at the Imperial Club? I'll be there in fifteen minutes." "You'd better come. Otherwise, I'll make you die miserably if I find you tomorrow!"

After Genevieve hung up the call, she received a notification from a news app. There was her name in the headline.

She clicked in and found that she was photographed secretly by the paparazzi when she entered the Twilight Tower in Jerry's minivan.

The media put up really exciting headlines to catch the eyes of the readers. The headlines read: Real estate tycoon, Mr. Benson's daughter's ex-boyfriend is now the new love of Genevieve. Jerry Pann used his body to win a chance to make a comeback.

Genevieve was speechless when she saw that vulgar headline.

No wonder Charlotte was so mad at me just now. She shouldn't be so angry just because Jerry is going to sign under my company. She must've seen the news. I just went through life and death yesterday and have not even returned to my senses yet. Now I have to deal with all this nonsense. What have I done to deserve all these?

Genevieve rubbed her temples exhaustedly while waiting for Yuvan to finish the call. Then, she asked, "How is it?"

"My dad said he will call General Loake later."

Heaving a sigh of relief, she grabbed her bag from the chair and said, "I'm sorry. I have to go to the Imperial Club right away. You enjoy the meal..."

Yuvan did not mind. "Go ahead." He nodded.

On the way, Genevieve gave Jerry a call and asked him to rush to the Imperial Club no matter where he was.

"Ms. Rachford."

When the manager on duty saw Genevieve, he hurried up to greet her and led her to the private room where Charlotte was waiting in there. While walking, he whispered, "Ms. Benson is in a very bad mood. She has smashed almost everything in the room..."

"It's okay. The audio equipment is not worth much," said Genevieve. After that, she muttered a few words in the manager's ear.

The manager nodded and left after sending Genevieve to the door of the private room.

Chapter 878

Genevieve pushed open the door and entered the room. The mess in the room was clearly seen under the bright light. The crystal coffee table that was worth more than ten thousand shattered on the ground. Genevieve saw Charlotte sitting on the couch. She was wearing an off-shoulder dress and high heels. Her beautiful face was full of gloom.

Charlotte was typing on her phone. When she heard the footsteps, she immediately looked toward the door and glared at Genevieve.

If eyes could kill, Genevieve would be dead by now.

"I knew that you two had an affair when I looked at the surveillance camera that day, but you refused to admit it! When the f*ck did you two get together? You'd better give me an explanation! But no matter wha you say, I will never forgive you!" Charlotte said coldly.

Genevieve did not answer her in a hurry. Instead, she rang the service bell and asked someone to come in to clear the broken glasses on the floor. Then, she walked to the bar and poured two glasses of brandy.

She walked over to Charlotte again and handed her a glass of brandy.

Charlotte sneered and took it.

Genevieve sat down beside her, took a sip of the brandy, and frowned at the strong taste of the alcohol.

Genevieve tilted her head to look at Charlotte and joked, "Everyone knows that you're a playgirl. You used to change three boyfriends in a month. Jerry is also nothing compared to the boyfriends you used to date. You've also dumped him. Why do you have to be so mad because of him?"

Charlotte's face darkened, and she scolded, "It's all your fault, Genevieve! I kicked him because you dated my man! Yes, I am a playgirl. So what? Does that mean you can date my man?"

Seeing that she was holding the glass tightly, Genevieve was afraid that she would smack her with the glass the next second. Hence, she moved to the side a little. "I did not date Jerry. It was not him at the bar that day."

Charlotte narrowed her eyes and stared at Genevieve coldly. "Oh really? Please don't tell me that that was his twin brother."

"I know you may not believe the truth. But..." Genevieve took a deep breath and told Charlotte the truth. "The 'Jerry' you saw in the bar that night was actually Armand."

Charlotte was stunned.

Genevieve took five minutes to tell Charlotte why Armand faked his death, why he appeared in front of her with the identity of Bruce, and why he borrowed Jerry's identity.

She froze and stared at Genevieve with wide eyes, shocked.

After a long moment, she took a sip of brandy to calm herself.

Charlotte was not used to drinking brandy too and also frowned at the strong taste. However, her mind suddenly became clearer. "Wait a moment... I know that technology is pretty advanced nowadays, and it is not difficult to make a human skin mask. But is there really such a mask that shows no flaws at all when being worn on the face? I don't believe it. Although the lights in the room were dim that night, I was sure that it was Jerry, not Armand!"

"There is, but it's really expensive. It's more than one hundred thousand a piece in Anglanduran currency. It has to be changed every day. Makeup is still needed even after it is being put on," said Genevieve. Charlotte continued to look at Genevieve suspiciously.

Genevieve continued, "Think about it carefully. Has Jerry ever pushed you away when you hug him? Why did he push you away that night? That was because he was not Jerry! Besides, Jerry should be a little more muscular than Armand. Didn't you find it strange?"

Upon hearing that, Charlotte tried to recall those details carefully. Jerry was indeed a little abnormal that night. Since she caught him in the act, he should be panicked. However, it felt more like he was avoiding her.

Although he spoke and acted like Jerry, he seemed more like an imitator and not the real person.

Chapter 879

After learning that Genevieve did not date her man, Charlotte heaved a sigh of relief. However, in the next second, she stared at Genevieve. "Since it wasn't him that night, why didn't you tell me and let me misunderstand him?"

"Armand was using Bruce's identity that night. We were afraid that you would have a slip of the tongue when you were drunk. So, we did not tell you the truth," Genevieve explained further.

Charlotte agreed with Genevieve as she recalled that she was yelling uncontrollably while pulling Timothy when she was drunk another night.

She would totally lose control whenever she was drunk.

When Charlotte was about to take another sip of brandy, she suddenly turned and looked at Genevieve. "Wait! But the quarrel between Johanna and Timothy has nothing to do with me! This is all caused by you and Armand. I thought that was Jerry. I was so angry that I went back to Jadeborough to fmd someone to drink..."

With a resentful look, Charlotte continued, "Do you know how guilty I was during this period? With just a WhatsApp message, I helped you with all I could. How could you do this to me?"

Genevieve took her glass and clinked against hers. "Yes, yes. It's all my fault. I owe you a big favor."

"I don't need your favor. My man is gone now!" Charlotte pouted. Thinking that Jerry had even lost his job recently, she felt extremely guilty.

However, she would never apologize to or get back together with an ex-boyfriend. That was not her style.

At that moment, someone knocked on the door of the private room.

Genevieve seemed to know who was coming and smiled slyly at Charlotte. "I can repay the favor now."

Then, she shouted in the direction of the entrance, "Come in!"

A tall man pushed the door and came in. The ordinary club uniform looked like a couture outfit on his body. He gave off a very wild feeling.

He looked at Charlotte, smiling. "Madam, do you need anything?"

Charlotte's eyes lit up as soon as she saw him. Soon, she became expressionless again and snorted while touching her high heels repeatedly on the ground. "I don't need anything!" Jerry paused for a moment. "Then shall I go?"

"Do you think you can go just because I don't need anything?" Charlotte glared at him.

Jerry curled his thin lips, walked to the bar, and took a hot towel from the sterilizer. Then, he squatted in front of Charlotte and put her left leg on his thigh.

It was only then that Genevieve noticed that Charlotte's calf was cut by the broken glass. The blood had even coagulated.

Jerry used the hot towel to carefully wipe off the blood around the wound.

Charlotte did not feel shy at all. Instead, she leaned her body against the couch and asked Jerry, "Why didn't you apologize to me?"

"You blocked my phone number and WhatsApp. I can't find you."

"Can't you get another number to call me? Have you found a new girlfriend?" Charlotte looked down and stared at Jerry's top of the head. Jerry said, "You're rich and pretty. No one is better than you.

Charlotte was flattered by his sweet word.

Seeing that Genevieve was still sitting there, she waved her hand and said, "Your mission is completed. Hurry up and leave now."

"Okay. I won't disturb you anymore." Genevieve got up from the couch.

Before she left, she said to Charlotte, "Please don't let others know that you're back together with Jerry. I want Jerry to sign under Genevieve Orsi. Let's wait until the contract is completed."

"Why? Is there an unspoken rule that my boyfriend has to sleep with you in order to work at your company?" Charlotte looked at Genevieve vigilantly.

Before Genevieve could speak, Jerry said in a low voice, "Come on! Don't think nonsense. I'm not interested even if she wants to sleep with me. I owe Armand a favor."

Charlotte was instantly cheered. She hugged and kissed Jerry. "Okay then!"

Chapter 880

Genevieve left with an expressionless face. When she met the manager on duty in the corridor, she instructed him to deliver some wine and some fruit to Charlotte's room. Genevieve added, "Tell them that police often come for inspection recently, so they have to behave."

The manager nodded.

When Genevieve arrived at the elevator and was about to press the button, the elevator opened slowly in front of her. There was a person standing inside.

She stopped breathing for a second when she saw Armand. For some reason, her eyes turned teary.

"Don't you want to come in?" Armand held the door for her when he saw that Genevieve stood still and did not go in.

Genevieve pursed her lips, walked in, and stood behind him.

Armand let go of his hand and let the elevator door close automatically. “I had a meeting in Feston. Jerry told me that you're at the club, so I came to pick you up right after the meeting.” Genevieve did not speak a word for a long moment. Armand turned around to look at her to see that she was looking at him too. Her lips pursed, and she seemed aggrieved.

He held Genevieve's hand, and she conveniently slipped into his arms.

She raised her arms and wrapped them around Armand's neck. Armand lowered his body, and the two started kissing affectionately in the elevator.

They had no intention of separating even until the elevator reached the underground carpark.

Armand put his palm on Genevieve's waist and buried her head on his chest. As he smelled the fragrance of her hair, the frustration in him eased slowly. He kissed her earlobe lovingly and whispered, "I'm sorry for letting you worry about me."

"I cried so many times. Can you see the white hair on my head?" Genevieve leaned her head toward him. "I also have insomnia and hair loss problems." "It's my fault and my bad," said Armand.

"Kiss me again. I won't angry anymore if you kiss me again." Genevieve moved her lips closer to him.

Armand smiled, cupped her face, and kissed her deeply.

The surveillance camera in the elevator was still on. Armand did not want others to see Genevieve's gorgeous appearance that should only belong to him alone.

He quickly ended the kiss, walked out of the elevator with Genevieve in his arms, and got into his car.

After Armand helped her to fasten the seatbelt, Genevieve hugged his waist and did not let him go. "Something so serious happened to you. Why didn't you tell me?"

"Even if the heart is found, there is still a possibility of rejection. There are also chances of getting acute sepsis. I am afraid that I will die in front of you one day. I also don't want you to see me being intimate with another woman." Armand rubbed her chin with his thumb and sighed.

Genevieve rested her ear on his chest and listened to the steady and powerful heartbeat.

It was this heart that saved Armand's life.

For some reason, tears immediately filled her eyes. The next moment, she started crying silently.

She wrapped her arms around his waist tightly, for fear that he would disappear again in the next second.

When Armand touched her face, he felt tears. His heart ached.

He lowered his head and kissed the tears off her face. Then, he stroked her long hair. "I promise you, I won't disappear again in the future. Please don't cry. I feel bad seeing you cry."

"I want to cry and make you feel bad. If I run away with another man, you won't even have the chance to feel bad!" Genevieve sobbed and said.

Armand touched the corner of her eye with his thumb. "Let's go home. I haven't seen Mandy for such a long time."

Genevieve pouted. "No. Mandy will pester you again after we go back. I want you all to myself. I want you to keep coaxing and apologizing to me."
