Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2041

Dustin was right. Everything was off the table with Gabriella unless Larry divorced Joan.

At the same time, Joan knew very well that Larry would definitely not divorce her.

“Come with me. We'll go overseas for some time.” Dustin looked at her expectantly.

He knew that Joan had concerns, but he was worried that she would end up in jail if she did not think for herself. What is more important than one's reputation?

“You don't want Lucius to have a mom who's a prisoner, do you?”

Suddenly, Joan's eyes lit up.

That's right. I should be responsible for the boy. I can't let him suffer from humiliation.

“Dustin, I'll consider your suggestion. Don't worry. The truth will come to light. I believe Larry will help me find out the truth,” Joan whispered.

She knew that she could not run away no matter what. If she wanted to go overseas, she wanted to do it openly, instead of running away and being criticized by others.

Seeing that she was still so stubborn and trusted the man so much, Dustin was sad.

Why can't she give me a chance?

In the end, Dustin gave up persuading her for he knew that it would be pointless.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

Joan glanced at the caller ID and answered the call.

“Joan, what's going on? I heard that Gabriella has lost her baby and that it has something to do with you. Are you all right?” Nancy asked anxiously.

She had been staying at home and had not gone out much, so she was shocked to learn that something so serious had happened.

“Nancy, how are you? Is your baby okay?” Joan purposely changed the subject.

She knew that Nancy was hot-tempered, particularly when she was pregnant now. Hence, if she told Nancy about what happened, the latter would surely confront Gabriella about it.

“Joan, don't change the topic. I wanna know what exactly is going on. If that b*tch, Gabriella, dares to bully you, I won't let her off. She actually has the nerve to say that she wants to steal Larry away from you and marry him when she was pregnant with the child of another man, and...” Nancy babbled.

Hold on. What does she mean? Gabriella claims that the baby she carried was Larry's, so why did Nancy say that it was another man's? Joan frowned slightly, feeling suspicious.

“Nancy, did you just say another man?” she asked dubiously.

“Yeah. She's so shameless that she actually found a man to impregnate her, saying that she wanted to get money from her family or something. I'm not sure either,” Nancy explained plainly.

No, I must get to the bottom of this. She can't pin her pregnancy on Larry. Gabriella has gone too far. I can't believe that she actually did such a shameless thing. However, Joan wondered if what Nancy said was true or just her guesswork.

“Nancy, do you know the man? Where's he now?” Joan hurriedly asked.

“Nearby my neighborhood. I've been very lazy recently and barely leave the house, so I usually buy clothes from a clothing store nearby and become acquainted with the people working at the store. But I think the store owner has moved out.”

What a great surprise. Nancy's my Lady Luck. Joan got excited and became a little incoherent.

“Um, Nancy, are you free to meet now? Let's talk,” Joan hurriedly asked.

“Sure. It's been a while. Let's get pizza. Jory has been controlling my diet recently. I'm going crazy,” Nancy proposed.

The two soon came to an agreement and left their houses respectively after hanging up their phones. However, Joan did not notice that someone was following them.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2042

The pizza joint was packed with customers at night. The two women stood at the entrance, feeling envious.

“Nancy, why don't we eat something lighter? You're pregnant...” Joan faltered, not knowing how to dissuade Nancy.

“Oh, it's okay, Joan. Don't worry. I've been craving for it, but Jory keeps stopping me. Just eat with me today, okay?” Nancy pleaded while shaking her arm and pouting.

Unable to say no to her, Joan had no choice but to enter the pizza joint with her.

As usual, the two of them asked for a private room, but the person tailing them followed closely.

Seemingly sensing something, Nancy kept glancing around.

“Nancy, what's wrong? You look anxious,” Joan asked.

She did not want anything to happen to Nancy, who was now pregnant.

“Joan, I don't know why but I keep having the feeling of being watched. It's true. I've got a good sixth sense,” Nancy replied in a hushed voice with her hand around her mouth.

The two of them were instantly on their guard. It was not safe recently. Besides, Larry had also reminded Joan not to go out before he left for work, so it was normal that someone was following them. However, Joan was worried that Nancy, who was pregnant, would be hurt.

No. I need to make some preparations. Joan took out her phone and made a call.

She then hurriedly said to the phone, “Ask Larry for some time off and come over. Tell him I ask you to come. I'm afraid something will happen to Nancy.”

“Okay, Joan. I'm coming right away.” Caspian hung up the phone.

Larry had never said no to Joan's request. The fact that she could think of him when she was in trouble was enough to make him happy all day.

“Take more men with you. You must ensure their safety. I'll hold you responsible if something happens to them,” Larry ordered in a low voice.

Soon, Caspian entered the pizza joint with a group of men. Instead of going directly to Joan's private room, he first got his men a table. Although he was uncouth, he knew how to reward his men. Moreover, he could afford a pizza meal.

“Boss, those are Larry's men,” a man with a fierce expression said.

They come here so soon. It seems that Larry really cares a lot about this b*tch.

“Implement Plan B now. Hurry up!”

Knock knock knock.

Nancy looked up at Joan in shock as they did not invite any others over and their food was already served.

Smiling, Joan immediately went to open the door.

She thought that it was Caspian, but it turned out to be a server.

“Miss, here's some fruit juice on the house. The boss said that pregnant ladies can't drink alcohol, so it's better to have some fruit juice,” the server announced with a serious look on his face.

“Oh, thank you,” Joan replied politely without any doubt, not knowing that the server was a man sent by Gabriella.

“Here you go. The boss gives this to you. Drink it. It's not alcohol.”

Nancy was stunned for a moment.

“There's no ongoing event at the shop. Seems like the boss gives this only to us,” Nancy muttered.

Without thinking much, Joan poured the fruit juice into their glasses.

Knock knock knock. It was Caspian this time.

“Hey, why are you here? You're in time to foot the bill,” Nancy said unceremoniously.

She's still as beautiful and cheerful as usual, but there's a more feminine air to her now. Caspian smiled.

She should be doing well I guess. ”Yes, I'm here to pay for y'all.”

Seeing that the two of them could still joke together, Joan grinned.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2043

“Hey, Caspian, I notice that you've become more handsome.” Nancy let out a hearty laugh.

“Have I? You don't regret breaking up with me, do you?” Caspian teased.

Joan gasped, but Nancy did not find it awkward as she replied, “Maybe I will if you get even more handsome.”

The two of them looked at each other and laughed. Not knowing what was really up with them, Joan did not chime in.

After exchanging greetings, the two got Joan to join in their conversation, and they began to chat away. Nancy and Caspian had fun probably because they had not seen each other for a long time.

“Alright. Alright. You're killing me. Let me have a drink.” Caspian then looked for alcohol but found only fruit juice on the table.

“Here. This is on the house as Nancy can't drink.” Joan poured him a glass of fruit juice.

After a while, they quietened down and rested on the table, probably feeling tired.

Thinking about Larry, Joan abruptly looked up at Nancy inquisitively.

“Nancy, did you say that you know the store owner?”

If she really knows the man, everything can be handled easily. Listening to Joan's question, Caspian was baffled. In fact, he was curious about their get-together at the pizza joint today.

“Yeah. We're pretty close. I thought you knew. Gabriella, that b*tch, is so scheming,” Nancy slowly replied.

Realization instantly hit Caspian.

“What do you mean by that?” he asked calmly.

“Gabriella told us that her baby was Larry's,” Joan stated straightforwardly.

Nancy spat out the water onto Caspian's face.

“What? That's impossible! Larry won't do something like that. That's simply impossible. The store owner is very close to me, so it's impossible that he'll lie to me. Didn't Gabriella get pregnant because she wanted to get some money from her family to do some investment? If the Wards knew about her pregnancy, they would treat her well...” explained Nancy.

What's on earth going on? Why is there such a strange rumor? The Wards won't care about the baby Gabriella has considering that she's been kicked out from the Wards! Besides, the Wards can't possibly acknowledge her after she gets pregnant out of wedlock without even knowing whose child it is... Caspian let out a sigh as he found Nancy to be as naive as before.

“So everything that I was told is fake?” Nancy muttered to herself while tilting her head.

The top priority was to find the store owner whom Nancy mentioned, so as to prove Larry's innocence.

“Nancy, do you still have contact with the owner? Can you find him?” Joan grabbed Nancy's arms and asked anxiously.

Nancy was shocked at how concerned Joan looked.

Is what they just said true? Did Gabriella really frame Larry? Damn it. That b*tch is so annoying. He's already married, and yet she still keeps pestering him.

“Joan, don't worry. I've got his contact number. I'm gonna help you to clear Larry's name,” Nancy declared resolutely.

As the three of them continued to chat and eat, they somehow grew tired and sleepy.

“I'm so sleepy.” Nancy shook her head, trying to make herself feel more awake.

“I'm tired too,” murmured Joan.

Caspian felt the same as well, so it dawned on him that they must have been drugged.

It could not be a coincidence that all the three of them felt tired at the same time.

Someone must be behind this.

Caspian hastily took out his phone to make a call, but he blacked out right after pressed on the keypad.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2044

In the end, the three of them passed out and slumped on the table.

Thud! The door to the private room was kicked open.

“Take her away!” A man pointed at Joan and commanded.

Meanwhile, Jory was busy with work.

“Mr. Synder!” Suddenly, his assistant rushed in hastily.

“What is it? Calm down and speak slowly,” came Jory's soft reply.

He disliked others who barged into his office without even bothering to knock on the door. If this had happened in the past, he would've fired the person without hesitation. However, after Nancy got pregnant, he tried his best to hold back his temper lest she and her child got affected.

“Mrs. Synder went to have pizza and suddenly passed out,” replied his assistant carefully.

Hearing his words, Jory flung the file he was holding down in shock and grabbed his phone before stalking out.

“Who allowed her to have pizza? Who was she with?” he demanded.

“She was with Ms. Watts,” the assistant answered. Immediately, Jory came to a stop.

Oh, it was a gathering. But why did Nancy faint all of a sudden? He couldn't wrap his head around it.

Soon, a black car arrived at the entrance of the pizza joint.

“Mr. Synder, I had no idea it was Mrs. Synder. She fell asleep here.” The owner of the place came to greet him warmly.

Ha! He's trying to disassociate himself from this incident. If we find out she's not asleep but unconscious, I shall make him pay! An icy glint flashed across Jory's eyes.

“Nancy, wake up!” he shook her arms.

Nancy didn't respond to his calls. To his utter fury, Caspian was slumped in a heap beside her.

He picked her up in frustration and brought her to the hospital.

“Doctor, is my wife alright?” Jory asked worriedly.

“She's fine. I don't understand why she took sleeping pills in the day? Did she have a hard time falling asleep at night?” The doctor stared at him curiously.

Oh, I see.

Jory whipped his phone out to call someone.

“Don't touch any of the dishes in the room. Get someone to run a test. Also, Joan is missing. Send some men to search for her. Remember to inform Larry too.”

Nancy was still unconscious while lying in bed.

Nancy, why did you meet Caspian? Sorrow flitted across Jory's gaze.

Ring! Ring!

“What? Joan's missing? What about Caspian? Where is he?” Larry seemed anxious.

“Mr. Norton, your subordinate is still at the pizza joint, but your wife is missing,” replied the manager cautiously.

Thud!

Larry's fist landed on the wall, causing the surrounding people to jump back in fear.

“Send him to the hospital,” the man ordered, his finger pointing at Caspian.

Clearly, it was Gabriella who had planned something this despicable. He couldn't think of someone else who had a grudge against Joan.

Is she that impatient to get rid of Joan? His gaze flashed menacingly.

“Gabriella, where did you hide Joan?” Larry tamped down his irritation and demanded.

Ha! Finally, he's here to get her. Gabriella flashed a cunning smile and schooled her expression carefully.

“Lars, what are you talking about? I didn't meet Joan. The three days aren't up yet. There's no way I'd harm her,” she replied in a low voice.

Actually, her men had been watching Delilah's house just in case. Those who knew Larry well would know he was a meticulous person. After what had happened, he refused to let Joan step out of their home, but still, the b*tch didn't listen to him and caused trouble. Hence, no one could be blamed for what happened.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2045

“If anything happens to Joan, I will make sure you won't see the sunrise next day,” he declared.

What a joke! Does he have any proof? Is he acting this indifferent to me because I like him? Gabriella scoffed inwardly.

How funny. My crush fell in love with the woman who used to be my best friend. Now, I'm trying to break them up so I can marry Larry myself.

What is the point getting myself in this mess? I know it's useless, but I refuse to back down. Why is Joan adored by many? Why is that b*tch so lucky?

“Larry, Joan isn't with me. Unless you have proof that she's with me, stop calling me.” Gabriella hung up abruptly after saying that.

That was the first time she had ever spoken that harshly to Larry. It felt exhilarating. Gabriella had enough of putting up with Larry's temper.

Larry, I will never back down or admit defeat this time! Her nails dug deep into her palms, nearly drawing blood.

Ring! Ring!

“Hello? Where are you now?”

“Ms. Ward, she's still unconscious. Where shall we bring her? Where are you?” a young voice replied carefully.

“I'll send you the address. Bring her there.” Gabriella cut the line after giving her orders.

Previously, she didn't show herself and only hired some hitmen to take Joan down. Yet, she didn't succeed. This time, she decided to see the woman herself. She was going to die soon, so it wouldn't take much time.

Gabriella put on her cap, mask, and scarf to cover herself so Joan wouldn't recognize her. Alas, she didn't know Joan would still recognize her no matter what. Gabriella was Joan's closest friend, so the latter knew her very well.

Shortly after, the vehicle stopped in front of a hotel.

“Where is she?” demanded Gabriella.

“In the room. She's still asleep,” came the man's calm reply.

Oh? She's still asleep?

Slam! Gabriella shut the door and slowly made her way to the bed.

Joan, no matter how hard you fight back, you ended up being abducted by me.

If you had divorced Larry earlier, I wouldn't have to waste so much effort to abduct you. A scornful smile flitted across her lips.

Larry must be panicking now. That's right! He must be going crazy since you went missing!

Funny, right? I've been with him for years, but you're the person he loves.

Gabriella clenched her fists and ground her teeth angrily.

The sun slowly moved to shine directly on Joan's face. Perhaps the sunlight was too glaring, for she slowly opened her eyes.

Where am I? Finding herself in an unfamiliar environment, Joan stretched lazily.

She remembered she was eating pizza with Nancy. They also asked Caspian to come, then...

Wait, I'm not in the pizza joint anymore! Her eyes widened in surprise as she tried to figure out where she was. Finally, she realized something was not right.

“You're awake?” Suddenly, a woman wearing a mask and shades stood up beside her.

“You are...” Joan trailed off hesitantly.

She immediately recognized Gabriella's voice, but the latter was all covered up. What is she trying to do?

“Gabriella, what are you planning?” she voiced her doubts out loud.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2046

In response, the woman burst into laughter.

Huh? Why is she laughing? Kidnapping is a crime!

“Joan Watts, you better think carefully before speaking. Remember, a loose tongue leads to trouble,” came Gabriella's reply as she tried to tamp down her feelings.

“Why did you drug and kidnap me?”

Gabriella found her question ironic for she had been after Larry for years. She should know what I'm after.

“I want to know what your choice is. When will you leave? Or will you enter jail?” Gabriella went straight to the point.

Only Gabriella would be interested in that.

“There are still three days left, right? I will leave it to God. It's either we get a divorce or I will be sent to jail. I didn't harm anyone, and my conscience is clear,” Joan stated firmly.

Gabriella nearly burst out indignantly after hearing that Joan's conscience was clear. It has been years. Doesn't she feel bad at all? She took my man away from me and caused my family to kick me out.

“Joan, stop talking nonsense. You need to admit to your mistake.” The woman sipped on her tea.

What did I do wrong? Joan shook her head and sighed.

It was scary to run into a crazy admirer who would scheme to harm everyone standing in her way.

“Do you think I wouldn't recognize you in your disguise?” sneered Joan.

Once she spoke, Joan immediately knew she was Gabriella though she kept denying it.

She kept alternating between a harmless woman and a vindictive woman. It must be tiring for her.

“Why are you laughing? You haven't answered my question yet?” Gabriella yelled loudly.

There was a menacing air about her, but Joan was no longer afraid.

If Gabriella took her life, it was fate. There was no need for her to be terrified right now.

“Say something!”

What? Does she want me to flatter her or beg for her forgiveness? Why should I? Joan was usually meek, but she could be imposing if needed.

“Gabriella Ward, stop pretending it isn't you. Whether or not Larry and I get a divorce is between us. It has nothing to do with you. Even if you love Larry and want to marry him, that's your business. Let me tell you. Larry will not marry you even after we get a divorce!” answered Joan loudly.

Slap! A tight slap landed on her cheek, causing her cheek to flare up promptly.

“Answer my questions instead of talking nonsense! You take back your words!” Gabriella finally showed her true colors and growled furiously.

She must be crazy!

“Why would I take back my words? Larry won't marry you! He won't!”

Slap! Slap!

After being slapped repeatedly, Joan's cheeks swelled up.

“Shut up! If you won't, I'll slash your face with a knife and destroy your face. That way, Larry will dump you!” Gabriella looked up and laughed maniacally.

Panic flickered across Joan's eyes.

She must be crazy. Otherwise, nothing would explain her reckless actions. Back then, she would just harm me and make things difficult for me, but right now, she's far more vicious!

“What's wrong? Are you afraid now? I'll give you some time to think about it. If you refuse, I'll throw you into the sea to feed the fish. I mean it. Just you wait and see.” Having said that, Gabriella stormed out.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2047

“Guard her well. If anything happens, you won't receive a cent from me” Gabriella stalked away without looking back after relaying her orders.

“Hey, what do you think happened? Why is our employer so cruel toward the lady inside?”

“I don't know. But women normally fight over men.”

The men were involved in a heated discussion.

They knew how merciless Gabriella could be, so they kept watch at the door at all times.

“Larry, we found nothing. The surveillance cameras were all destroyed,” reported Caspian anxiously.

There was no clue at all, hence they didn't know where to begin their search. Joan was nowhere to be seen even though they search through every surveillance camera from the streets nearby, stores, hotels, and convenience stores. Strangely, the pizza joint's surveillance cameras were destroyed, and they couldn't find anyone suspicious from the surveillance footage outside.

There was no way Joan had disappeared into thin air.

“We need to find her. We must!” Larry growled, his heart engulfed with worry.

Ring! Ring!

“Hello, Larry. Have you found Joan?” It was Nancy.

How dare she calls me? If she didn't insist on having pizza, Joan would not have gone missing! Inwardly, Larry was seething with anger.

“No,” came his icy reply.

Nancy realized he was mad by his tone.

“Larry, I have something to tell you. It might help you find Joan.”

Immediately, Larry's eyes lit up.

He was willing to do anything to find Joan.

“Alright. I'll head there now.” He grabbed his jacket and left his office.

On the way there, he ran two red lights in his haste to get to Nancy.

Finally, his car came to a stop in front of the hospital.

Bang! Both Jory and Nancy were shocked at his loud arrival.

“Hey, Larry. Why are you here?” Jory seemed displeased to see him.

Jory didn't welcome Larry at all. Larry might be a good friend of his wife, but he was also Jory's friend's love rival at the same time.

“Jory, I have asked him to come. Don't act this way,” said Nancy.

“Why don't you leave us? I need to talk to Larry,” she added.

Jory froze, doubting his ears.

What did she just say? Did she ask me to leave? Shouldn't she be asking Larry to leave instead? He scowled unhappily, but Nancy was unfazed.

“Yes, you. I don't want to keep you from work. If you're not busy, you can stay,” Nancy mumbled.

What? Work isn't as important as her, of course.

“It's fine. I'm not busy.” Jory plopped down on the sofa next to them and glared at Larry sulkily.

He wanted to know why Larry was here.

Nancy explained, “Larry, when I was eating with Joan, we chatted about Gabriella and you. I know the owner of a fashion boutique as I am his frequent customer. We were close, and I heard him say...”

“Anyway, we drank some juice. I didn't drink any alcohol, so I have no idea why I fainted.” Nancy shook her head helplessly.

She still had no idea her juice was spiked with sleeping pills.

“I think we can investigate this owner. He knows Gabriella, and I think this is related to her,” she revealed her suspicions.

If Nancy didn't know that Gabriella had claimed to be pregnant with Larry's child, this wouldn't have happened at all.

“Okay. Can you contact him now?” Larry urged.

“Yes, I have his number. But his store has shifted elsewhere now. I heard some rich fella took over his previous store...”

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2048

Larry lowered his head, but he didn't feel guilty at all.

After all, he hated liars and people who were slow—both male and female.

“I'll call him now and set up an appointment to meet him. Will that do?” Nancy asked carefully before proceeding to call him.

“Hello, Rune,” she greeted. “What are you up to recently?” There was a hint of exhaustion in her voice.

“Nothing. I'm at home,” answered the man calmly.

“Oh, well. I was thinking of buying some clothes, but I don't feel like going to the mall. Do you still sell clothes?”

Rune Lindell hesitated as his curiosity piqued up.

There were plenty of fashion boutiques in the neighborhood, so there was no reason for Nancy to call him suddenly.

“I'm used to wearing your shop's clothes. They suit me, and I'm too lazy to change my style,” explained Nancy.

Oh, I see. She's quite straightforward though.

“Sure. I'll send you my address.”

They chatted briefly before hanging up.

On the side, Larry was gazing at Nancy expectantly. The moment she hung up, he dashed to her bed.

“How did it go? Did he agree?” asked Larry in a low voice.

“He'll send me his address. We can head there later. I think you shouldn't come along, Larry. I'll record our conversation,” suggested Nancy.

She was right. It was a bad idea to act rashly and risk alerting their enemy.

“Nancy, you're too weak to head out. Let's make it another day.” Jory was worried.

He couldn't care less about Joan's safety as his top priority was his wife. It was none of his business. Joan's disappearance was Larry's responsibility. There was no way Larry could blame others for he couldn't even protect his own wife.

“Jory, shut up. I think of Joan as my sister.” With that, Nancy rose to her feet and changed her outfit to leave.

To protect her safety, Jory arranged for a few men to follow her from afar.

Uneasiness crept into Larry's heart despite the slight progress. He didn't know what kind of information Nancy would be able to find out or how dangerous was Joan's situation.

“Larry, you should protect your loved one at all costs. Don't you know that?” Jory inquired.

He had never been polite to Larry as there was no need to do so. If it wasn't for Nancy, he would've just ignored the man. Yet, Nancy was close to them. Jory shook his head and exhaled.

He realized those who were close to Larry would be met with no good end. Joan must've suffered a lot after getting together with him.

Looks like this Gabriella is a stubborn woman. She refuses to give up on Larry even when he was studying abroad. Now that he's married with a child, she still doesn't care. She's seriously a weirdo.

“Joan must've suffered a lot,” mumbled Larry. He hung his head as his eyes reddened.

Seeing how guilty Larry was, Jory shut his mouth.

He could understand Larry's feelings, but he couldn't bring himself to forgive the man.

Wait, I should call Dustin. Does he know about Joan's disappearance?

Jory immediately whipped out his phone to call Dustin.

“He's useless! The cops? The cops know nothing! Is he still waiting there? He must be crazy!” Dustin was yelling through the line furiously.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2049

It turned out he had found out about this and was trying his best to find Joan.

Actually, it was clear that the culprit was Gabriella. Still, there wasn't any proof to tie her to the crime.

Gabriella was cruel enough to kill her own child to frame another woman. The worst part was, she was also getting smarter by the day. Jory had never expected that.

Back then, Gabriella was wealthy, but inwardly, she was an innocent young girl. Judging from her recent actions, she had turned into a villainous woman.

“What's going on between you and Gabriella?Jory seemed curious.

Larry seemed upset at his question.

All he wanted was to be with his loved one, but life was full of unexpected twists. Sighing, Larry revealed, “Gabriella, Joan, and I knew each other in college.”

They started off as three, but only two would end up spending their lives together.

Joan had never thought of taking anything away from Gabriella. She never meant to betray Gabriella, but the man Gabriella loved was in love with her. That was why Gabriella grew to hate her.

A flash of skepticism appeared in Jory's eyes. Dustin had never talked about Joan's past, so after hearing Larry's story, he thought their relationship was quite cool.

“If you love her, don't let her get hurt.” He patted Larry's shoulder.

Unfortunately, Larry's hands were tied. Gabriella had her sight set on him and kept stirring up trouble every so often. Sometimes, he couldn't help but get frustrated at her actions. Anyone would get restless if they were in his shoes. He wanted a peaceful life with Joan, but Gabriella was like the devil in disguise.

“Don't worry. She'll be fine. Dustin won't allow anything to happen to her,” muttered Jory.

“Hello? Can you hear me, Larry?” asked Nancy carefully.

“Yep. Be careful, Nancy. Don't let anyone catch you. If you sense something wrong, escape immediately,” Larry reminded her worriedly.

“Be careful. I'll cook for you when you return,” said Jory softly.

Jory was usually aloof, strict and quiet, but he adored Nancy greatly.

“Oh, you're here, Ms. Barrymore. Come on in. Are you here to pick out some maternity outfits?” Rune greeted Nancy with a warm smile.

“Yes. Do you have a bigger size? My belly's getting larger, so I need larger clothes,” replied Nancy stiffly.

“No problem. We have a few new arrivals today. I'll bring them to you now. Please wait a moment.” The shop attendant went into the storeroom to get the outfits for her.

“There are plenty of fashion boutiques nearby your place. You could've gotten new clothes there. Why did you come all the way here?” Rune inquired with a chuckle.

“Hey, Rune. We haven't met in a while. You didn't even call me. That's heartless of you,” Nancy retorted and pointed at him.

She had always spoken her mind, so she was a popular person.

“I'm too busy recently.”

Ha! He's putting up an act. I still need to make sure. Suddenly, she felt lucky that Gabriella had no idea they knew each other.

“What have you been up to until you couldn't even have time to call me?” Nancy touched the clothes in her hand and asked nonchalantly.

Rune sighed in dejection.

What else? It's because of Gabriella. I can't believe she even sacrificed her own child to gain her goals. That's our child! Rune stared out of the window wordlessly.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 2050

It sometimes occurred to him that he should give up on her as she was too heartless. She could even resort to despicable means to achieve her goals. He had never liked anyone like her, but that very night in the bar, he fell for her seductions.

Funnily, he had never fallen for anyone before. That was why he kept in touch with her. Yet, he failed in the end.

“Oh, nothing. I sell clothes and run some errands. That's all,” came Rune's vague reply.

He was still dejected over Gabriella's miscarriage.

Rune had the real surveillance footage which showed how Gabriella stabbed herself. The entire incident had nothing to do with Joan.

He still couldn't wrap his mind around the fact that Gabriella killed their child. It's all because of that bastard, Larry!

Women were the most difficult to understand species in the world. Men should stay away from them lest they got hurt by their thorns.

“Seriously? You must be rich now. You have a fashion boutique and are now venturing into the delivery business. I didn't know you're that capable. Do you have a girlfriend? If you don't, I can introduce one to you.” Nancy gave him a teasing push.

I don't need a girlfriend. I just need Gabriella to fall in love with me. It still puzzles me as to why she refuses to give up on Larry.

“Delivery? No, I'm too busy for that. It's a friend of mine who asked for my help to alter the surveillance footage. Ah, it's quite complicated to explain,” answered Rune.

That's it.

Nancy's eyes lit up with delight.

He must be talking about the surveillance footage in Ms. Young's house!

Gabriella is indeed crafty. She couldn't leave the hospital, so she asked for his help.

“Tell me about it. I've been bored stuck at home since I got pregnant.” Nancy wheedled him like an old friend.

He might refuse to reveal anything, but at least she tried.

“I'm afraid of scaring your baby. I really envy you. Mine is gone,” said Rune. There was a hint of exasperation in his voice.

Hearing his answer, delight hope bloomed inside Nancy.

“Didn't you say someone named Gabriella got pregnant with your child? Why is he gone?”

Rune sighed. “You don't know how overbearing she is. I'm not her type. She is in love with another man, so she ended up...”

In the end, he spilled everything without knowing Nancy was friends with Larry.

“In order to frame that woman, she stabbed her own belly and lost her child. I can't believe she did that. You're a mother, too. Don't you think there is something wrong with her?” Rune stared at Nancy earnestly.

Clearly, she was mentally ill for no mother would bear to kill her own child.

“She might have her reasons. But sacrificing her own child isn't a smart move. That's your child. How could she do that?” Nancy shook her head and let out a disappointed sigh.

Why wouldn't she do so? Our child has always been a tool to her. She had used me to get pregnant, too. She would naturally get rid of people who are useless to her.
