Never Late, Never Away Chapter 491

Benedict’s vow to protect her had warmed Vivian’s heart in a way that she had never felt before.

But strangely, even though she felt ecstatic and comforted, she couldn’t stop the tears from flowing and drenching his shirt quickly.

Benedict just silently held her in his arms, letting her vent all of her positive and negative emotions in one go.

Cry all you want. You’ve suffered so much throughout all these years. It must have been hard on you. Let it all out and bid farewell to your past. I will give you a brand new life from now on. I will never let you feel any pain nor sorrow anymore.

After Vivian had cried herself to the point of exhaustion, Benedict picked her up and carried her in his arms as they exited the hospital.

“Ben, I’m fine. I can walk by myself.” Embarrassed, Vivian tried to break from his grip, but he refused to let go.

“You’re injured. Besides, I’m not some stranger, I’m your brother. It’s okay.”

Vivian glanced down at her bloodied feet and relented, dazedly letting him carry her. A faint but sincere smile appeared on her face unconsciously.

When they got to the main entrance of the hospital, Vivian spotted Noah standing in the distance and reflexively grabbed onto Benedict’s arm out of fear.

Noticing her reaction, Benedict followed her gaze to see Noah. He had an assumption as to why she reacted that way. “Was it Finnick’s idea to abort the baby?” he asked coldly.

Tears pricking at her eyes, there was a long pause before Vivian finally admitted with much difficulty, “He thinks that the child isn’t his.”

Benedict’s jaw clenched, his anger displayed clearly on his face. Although he was aware that it was Evelyn who had lied to Finnick about Vivian, he never thought that Finnick would force Vivian to get an abortion in such an inhumane way.

Someone like him doesn’t deserve Vivian!

“Do you want to get a divorce?” Benedict glanced down at Vivian inquisitively.

After a beat of shocked silence, Vivian nodded. “Yes.”

Upon hearing that, Benedict adjusted Vivian’s weight in his arms before striding over to Noah. Even though she had no idea what Benedict’s intentions were, she trusted him completely.

Noah was standing at the main entrance of the hospital, his head hung in shame and remorse. He hated himself more and more with every passing second that he imagined what Vivian must be going through inside the hospital. He couldn’t even bear to face the building, his back turned to the hospital entrance as he was mentally beating himself up.

“Noah.”

Noah turned around at the call of his name, his eyes widening when he saw Benedict walking towards him, carrying Vivian. Taken aback, Noah stumbled backward. “M- Mr. Morrison.”

Benedict’s stare was icy cold as he brushed Noah’s reaction aside. “Go back and tell Finnick that the divorce papers will be reaching him shortly.”

With that, Benedict turned around and headed for his car with Vivian in his arms.

Elsewhere, Finnick was currently stuck at a board meeting at the Norton Corporation.

He didn’t know what had gotten into his brother. Earlier, Mark had sent his assistant over to inform Finnick that the Norton Corporation had some important issues to resolve, and that Mark would be holding an emergency meeting that required Finnick’s presence.

Mark’s assistant had appeared extremely nervous and distraught, so Finnick followed him to the Norton Corporation without a second thought.

But it had been nearly two hours since the meeting started, and Finnick had yet to hear anyone discuss anything substantial, let alone mention any important issues that needed resolving.

Finnick, fed up with listening to Mark droning on about nonsense, got up to leave the meeting. He had a lot of work to get done, and he was not going to let Mark waste his time any further.

“Where do you think you’re going, Finnick? The meeting isn’t over yet,” Mark called out to him.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 492

Finnick’s eyes narrowed in annoyance as he turned to look back at Mark. “I don’t think this meeting is of any importance.”

“How could you say that?” Mark slammed a hand onto the table. “This meeting is to discuss the direction in which the Norton Corporation should be expanding. This is key to whether or not the company can advance higher and further, and you’re saying this isn’t important?”

The lower-ranking directors flocked to agree with Mark.

“That’s right! How can you manage Norton Corporation with that attitude?”

“I knew that we shouldn’t have let him off the hook so easily last time. We should revoke his shares in the company.”

“Obviously, he doesn’t care for us if he’s just coming and going whenever he likes.”

Not wanting to make a mountain out of a molehill, Finnick begrudgingly sat back down and resumed the meeting.

What had happened in the past had not left a very good impression on the company’s board of directors. If he continued to let their bad impression grow, there was a high chance that he might lose his job at the Norton Corporation.

Seeing this, self-satisfaction flashed through the depths of Mark’s eyes as he let out an internal sigh of relief.

Evelyn had called him earlier, instructing him to hold Finnick up around noon today. Although he didn’t know what Evelyn had up her sleeve, she promised that as long as he followed her orders, she would find a way to make Finnick transfer his shares in the company to Mark.

Having worked with Evelyn on several other occasions, Mark had no doubt that Evelyn could achieve whatever she set her mind to. So, he agreed.

Mark dilly-dallied for about two more hours before finally ending the meeting.

Finnick was the first to leave the meeting room, causing the directors to chatter in displeasure yet again. But he didn’t care for them. His patience had already been worn thin, and he couldn’t stand having to sit in there for a second longer. Let them think whatever they want to think.

He drove all the way back to the Finnor Group building, about to call Vivian and ask her how her check-up had gone. He still refused to accept the child as his, but that didn’t mean that he was going to disregard Vivian’s health and wellbeing entirely.

Touching his pockets, he realized that his phone was not on him.

He ended up using his secretary’s phone to call his own, and learned from Mrs. Filder, who had answered the call, that he had left his handphone at home.

After instructing Mrs. Filder to send his handphone to the company building, Finnick proceeded to call Vivian, but no one picked up. Slightly concerned, he dialed her number again and again to no avail.

Right as Finnick was panicking and about to leave for the hospital to personally check on Vivian, his secretary entered the office, holding something in her arms.

“Mr. Norton, these are the documents that Mr. Morrison sent to you.” The secretary handed the package to him over the desk.

Benedict? Finnick was perplexed. What could Benedict send him?

He only grew even more confused upon opening the package and reading the contents of the papers inside. The large, bolded words “Divorce Agreement” were printed as clear as day at the top of the document.

And at the bottom, someone named “Vivian Morrison” had signed the agreement.

“Vivian Morrison?” Finnick muttered to himself.

Who is this? Why did Benedict randomly send me a divorce agreement? Who would I be able to divorce other than Vivian?

Something wasn’t right here. Vivian Morrison… Vivian… Vivian! Was this a divorce agreement between himself and his Vivian? What’s going on?

Finnick tried calling Vivian again to ask her if she knew anything about the divorce agreement, but her phone was switched off.

Eyebrows furrowed in irritation, he threw his phone to one side. What is going on with Vivian? Why did she refuse to accept my calls and turn her phone off? What is this divorce agreement all about?

A lightbulb lit up in his mind, and Finnick picked up his phone once more to call Benedict. The documents had been sent by him, so he had to have some idea of what this was all about.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 493

Benedict answered the phone quickly. Before Finnick could speak, Benedict asked, “Has it been signed?”

“What’s that supposed to mean? What’s going on? Who is Vivian Morrison?” Finnick was confused by Benedict’s question, causing him to have doubts.

Benedict laughed at Finnick’s questions. Finnick was still the same as before, a man who was not willing to take responsibility for his actions.

“Stop pretending. I’m telling you now, Vivian doesn’t want to be with you anymore. Send me the divorce papers once you’ve signed it.”

“Why would Vivian want to file for divorce?” Finnick felt utterly confused and said, “Is Vivian there with you now? Hand her the phone. I want to speak to her.”

“You don’t deserve to speak to her!” Benedict roared angrily into the phone. He would never allow the scumbag to hurt his sister ever again.

Since Benedict did not deny it, Finnick knew then that he was with Vivian. He had not been able to contact Vivian. And one day, out of the blue, he was served with the so-called divorce papers. Moreover, the things that Benedict said to him aggravated him.

“What exactly do you mean by that, Benedict? Hand her the phone now. I want to ask her myself.”

“Everyone knows what you did, Finnick. So drop the act. You don’t deserve to be with Vivian after what you did to her. You’d better sign the divorce agreement quickly.” Since Finnick still refused to admit to his wrongdoing, Benedict detested his behavior.

“Stop f*cking playing riddles with me. This is a matter between Vivian and me, you have no right to be involved. Hand over the phone to her now!” Finnick couldn’t help but curse when he did not understand what Benedict was talking about.

“What do you mean I have no right?” Benedict snorted. “I am Vivian’s older brother. That means I have every right to be involved. It’s Vivian’s intention to divorce you. So sign the papers quickly and send them to me!”

As soon as he finished speaking, he hung up. He did not wish to speak to such an irresponsible person anymore. Had they not been talking on the phone, Benedict would have beaten Finnick into a pulp when he thought of what he did to Vivian.

But now was not the time to punish Finnick. More importantly, he had to help Vivian get out of the situation.

Based on Finnick’s influential position, Benedict knew that he wouldn’t be able to stop Finnick if the latter were to prevent Vivian from leaving. Hence, he wanted to take the opportunity and quickly take Vivian out of the country before Finnick could take any action.

“What do you mean by you’re Vivian’s older brother? What exactly do you mean, Benedict? Tell me now!” Finnick was even more confused when Benedict declared himself as Vivian’s older brother.

Upon hearing the dead silence on the other side of the phone, Finnick lowered the phone from his ear to his eyes. It was only then he realized that Benedict had hung up.

He was breathing heavily and seething with anger as he paced back and forth. Finally, he walked over to his working desk and angrily overturned the desk. There was a loud bang when the desk hit the ground, and all of the documents and displays were scattered all over the place.

Trying his best to calm the fury in his heart, Finnick thought back to what Benedict had just said to him. He said that he was Vivian William’s older brother. And the fact that the signature on the divorce agreement belonged to Vivian Morrison puzzled Finnick even more. What on earth was going on?

At that moment, Finnick was at a loss, and he had no idea what had happened. Within the afternoon itself, he felt that his world had turned upside down.

Finnick picked up the phone and called Noah, and ordered him to investigate this matter.

At that time, Noah was with Evelyn.

“What? My brother saved Vivian again?” After hearing what Noah had told her, Evelyn felt like she was about to go crazy. Could this be fate? Because Vivian was indeed Benedict’s biological sister, therefore it was fated for Benedict to come to Vivian’s rescue every single time.

Evelyn dug her nails into her palms, and a ferocious look crept upon her face. Vivian William, why are you always so lucky?

“I’ve done whatever you’ve asked me to do. I did not expect Mrs. Norton to be saved. Can you let my parents go now?” Noah said anxiously. For the last few days, Evelyn had kidnapped his parents. Therefore, he was worried about their safety.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 494

“Did as I told you?” Evelyn laughed in anger, and then she shouted to Noah in a shrill voice, “Nothing went as planned in whatever I asked you to do. Don’t you even think of asking me to release your parents!”

“Evelyn, you…” Noah was furious, and just when he was about to argue with her, he heard his phone rang. He took out his phone and saw that it was an incoming call from Finnick.

When he was hesitating to answer the call, Evelyn grabbed the phone from him. Seeing that it was a call from Finnick, Evelyn handed back the phone to Noah and said, “Answer it. Put it on speaker mode.”

“What are you up to, Evelyn?” Noah had a bad feeling about this.

“Answer the call. Do you want your parents to die?” Evelyn threatened Noah.

He glared at Evelyn in rage, he had no choice but to answer the phone.

As soon as Noah answered the call, Finnick said anxiously, “Noah, I don’t care what you are doing now. Drop everything right now and help me to investigate Vivian’s whereabouts. Also, find out what’s the relationship between Vivian and Benedict.”

Having heard that, Evelyn fell into deep thought, then she motioned Noah to hang up.

“Yes, Mr. Norton. I’ll get on it right away.” Noah hung up and turned to look at Evelyn.

After thinking it through, Evelyn came up with an idea. She turned to Noah and said, “You will report to Finnick with what I want you to say to him. Otherwise, your parents will pay for it with their lives.”

He had no choice but to obey Evelyn.

Soon, Noah returned to Finnick’s office.

“Did you manage to find anything?” Finnick quickly stood up and asked when Noah entered his office.

“Yes.” Noah nodded, then he lowered his head and answered Finnick. “The real Evelyn Morrison was kidnapped at birth, she was then picked up by Rachel.”

“Rachel wanted her own daughter to have a good life, so she sent her own daughter to the Morrison family. And she kept the real daughter of the Morrison family by her side. Therefore, Mrs. Norton is the real daughter of the Morrison family, and Evelyn is Rachel’s biological daughter.”

In fact, Noah was shocked when Evelyn told him that. He had never thought such a thing could happen.

After hearing what Noah had to say, Finnick finally understood what Benedict meant. But what about the divorce agreement? I have to get answers directly from Vivian myself.

Finnick turned and asked Noah, “Did you find out where Vivian is?”

“Yes. Mrs. Norton took a private jet to A Nation with Mr. Benedict.”

“That’s impossible!” Finnick couldn’t believe that Vivian had left without even saying a single word to him.

“I also found out that Mrs. Norton realized that there’s a high possibility that the baby she’s carrying is not yours. She chose to leave you and go to A Nation with Benedict because she didn’t know how to face you.” Noah continued and said whatever Evelyn had taught him to say.

Finnick finally understood why Vivian filed for divorce all of a sudden.

He had refused to tell Vivian about her humiliating incident because he was afraid that she would be ashamed and leave him. He did not expect things to turn out the way that he had feared it to become.

But he couldn’t let Vivian leave just like that. He couldn’t live without her, so he must find her and bring her back.

“Noah, get me the earliest flight to A Nation. Also, find out Benedict and Vivian’s specific location in A Nation. Hurry!”

“Yes.” Noah replied and turned to leave.

Although he was threatened by Evelyn and had to say these things against his will, he also found out that Vivian’s trip to A Nation was actually true. It would be best if Mr. Norton could really win her back, as that would make him feel less guilty.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 495

“Wait a minute.” Suddenly, Finnick stopped Noah. “I’ll go with you now to the airport.”

Finnick couldn’t sit and wait while Vivian was running away from him. He could never allow such a thing to happen.

Upon hearing that, Noah took his place behind Finnick. Then, they quickly made their way out. However, they discovered that the lift was out of order temporarily. Finnick, who was already frustrated, kicked the lift door violently. Then he turned left and ran down the stairs.

Just when he went down one floor, Evelyn appeared out of nowhere unexpectedly.

“Where are you going, Finnick?” Evelyn stopped him with her outstretched hand.

“Get out of my way!” With no time to waste, Finnick pushed her hand away and continued to run down the stairs.

Evelyn was not going to let Finnick leave her, so she quickly went after him and grabbed him by his arm. “You’re going to look for Vivian, aren’t you? She’s gone. Besides, she’s going to divorce you, so why can’t you let her go?”

“How do you know these things?” Finnick looked at Evelyn suspiciously.

Evelyn shifted her gaze. She couldn’t say that it was Noah who told her about Vivian’s intention to divorce him. Otherwise, all the things that she had threatened Noah to do would be exposed.

“Benedict told me so.” Evelyn thought quickly about it and said, “I guess you should know by now that I’m not Benedict’s biological sister. He actually gave me a call before he left. He said that Vivian is determined to divorce you.”

After saying that, Evelyn held on tighter to Finnick’s arm and begged him in a kittenish tone, “Finnick, it’s clear that Vivian doesn’t want you anymore. So please don’t go looking for her, alright?”

“This is between Vivian and me. It has nothing to do with you. Let go of me!” Finnick tried to yank his arm out of her hold, but Evelyn had a death grip on him.

Hearing Finnick’s reply, Evelyn was on the verge of breaking down. She became emotional and burst into tears. “Nothing to do with me? It has everything to do with me. I love you. Don’t you know that I love you?”

Evelyn still had feelings for Finnick. After all that she had done for him, he still did not have any feelings for her. In fact, all that he could think of was to go after Vivian. Inevitably, she was broken-hearted.

Finnick was shocked by Evelyn’s declaration of love for him. How can that be? Didn’t she herself say it before that we are nothing more than just friends?

Evelyn cried and said, “I lied to you, Finnick. There’s no way for me to be just a friend to you. I only said that because I was afraid that you would ignore me.”

Tears rolled down Evelyn’s face as she said, “Ever since I regained my memory, I rushed back from abroad to look for you. I wanted to tell you that I remember you. I also wanted to explain to you all the things that happened years ago. I wanted to be with you again. But when I returned, I found that you’ve married Vivian.

“Finnick, I’ve also tried to tell myself that you’re a married man and that I should not have any feelings for you anymore. But there’s no way that I can forget about you. I love you, Finnick!”

Evelyn’s confession failed to move Finnick. Instead, it made him even more upset. If he had known that Evelyn had such thoughts, he would never have worked with her.

“But I have no feelings for you anymore. Vivian is the one I love now. Let go of me. I want to find her.” Finnick grew impatient as he tried to shake off her hold.

Evelyn’s heart was full of jealousy at his blunt reply. Why is it that I’ve made myself so clear, but yet he still wants to go after Vivian? Don’t I have a place in his heart?

Vivian! It’s all because of you! Viciousness flickered in Evelyn’s eyes. If it weren’t for you, Finnick would never say such a thing to me! If it weren’t for you, Benedict would never abandon me as a sister. He used to adore and spoil me so much.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 496

Now that she was no longer part of the Morrison family, and if Finnick didn’t want her as well, then what was she supposed to do now? Do I have to start living in the streets?

No! Her life should be the envy of everyone else. She was not going to allow herself to end up in such a miserable state. At the thought of this, Evelyn steeled herself and made a rash decision.

Just as Finnick tried to shake off his hand from her tight grip, she leaned backward intentionally and let herself rolled down the stairs.

“Evelyn!” Finnick was completely shocked when he saw her tumbled down the stairs and ended up lying motionless at the bottom of the stairs.

He recalled that he did not use that much strength when he shook her off. So how was it possible for her to fall down the stairs? Did I use too much force when I shook her off? Now was not the time to think about it, so he pushed the thought to the back of his mind.

He rushed down the stairs to help Evelyn to get up. But he found her unconscious, and her forehead was bleeding from the heavy fall.

In a state of shock, Finnick turned his head and shouted to Noah, “Call an ambulance now! Hurry!”

Earlier on, Noah was filled with contempt as he listened to Evelyn declaring her love for Finnick. This woman sure does know how to act. She has done so many vicious things, but yet she portrayed herself as the ultimate victim. Thank goodness Finnick rejected her love confession.

What on earth is going on? How could Evelyn fall down the stairs so suddenly?

Noah had been watching both of them just now. He could never believe that Finnick had caused her to tumble down the stairs. Could it be that Evelyn fell down the stairs on purpose?

The woman was willing to go as far as hurting herself to achieve her own goals. Perhaps, this could be a bitter ploy against Finnick.

Deep in his thoughts, Noah heard Finnick shouting at him, and he quickly recollected himself. Although he had his doubts about this incident, he could not share it with Finnick. After all, he was regarded as Evelyn’s accomplice to a certain extent. But there were just some things that he couldn’t discuss with Finnick.

“Understood,” Noah replied, and then he quickly took out his phone and contacted the hospital. As of now, it didn’t matter whether she deliberately threw herself down the stairs or not. The fact was that she was injured, and they had to quickly send her to the hospital. Furthermore, if anything were to happen to her, he wouldn’t know where to search for his parents.

In a few moments, the sound of ambulance sirens rang shrilly on the ground floor. Finnick quickly helped the paramedics to lift Evelyn onto the stretcher, and then he boarded the ambulance and went along to the hospital.

No matter what, he had to bear responsibility for what happened earlier. He had to stay to ensure that Evelyn’s life was not in danger. He had to put on hold his plan to leave the country in search of Vivian.

Finnick appeared tense as he waited outside of the operating room.

On one hand, he was worried about Evelyn and prayed that she would be fine. Otherwise, he was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to absolve himself from the blame.

And yet, on the other hand, he was even more anxious about Vivian. Where is she now? Has she arrived in A Nation? Where should I go to find her? What if Vivian still insists on filing for divorce after I’ve found her? What can I do to win her back?

Finnick wished that he could go and search for Vivian right now. He would then keep her by his side for the rest of his life and never allow her to leave him. For now, he could only think of her, and that was enough to drive him crazy. Unfortunately, he couldn’t leave just yet. Evelyn was still in the operating room, so he had to stay to make sure she was alright.

Just when his patience was about to run out, the indicator light on the operating room switched off. At the sight of the doctor coming out of the room, Finnick quickly stepped forward and questioned Evelyn’s condition.

The doctor looked dejected and asked, “What is your relationship with the patient?”

“I’m her friend,” Finnick replied, with a premonition that something was not right.

“You’d better contact the patient’s family members as soon as possible. Both her legs are severely damaged from the fall. We performed surgery on her but couldn’t save her legs. I’m afraid that she will have to spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair.”

The doctor shook his head regretfully and said, “What a pity to be affected by paraplegia at such a young age. When she wakes up, she’ll be agitated. So it’s better to stay by her side to comfort her and keep her calm.”

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 497

The doctor turned around and walked away, leaving Finnick standing alone in a daze.

Paraplegia? How is it possible for Evelyn to be so severely injured? I didn’t use that much force when I shook her off.

But now was not the time to shirk responsibility. It seemed that Evelyn did fall down the stairs when he shook his arm from her hold. He definitely had to bear responsibility for this.

What should I do now? How am I going to break the news to Evelyn? She’s still so young. How will she react when she finds out that she has to spend the rest of her life in a wheelchair?

Finnick collapsed onto a chair outside of the operating room. He slumped over and buried his face in his hands as he drowned himself in guilt.

It was all his fault. He shouldn’t have been so rough when he flung his arm from Evelyn’s grasp. He should have kept his cool and talked to her calmly. Otherwise, this would not have happened. What was he going to do now?

Noah had been waiting with Finnick outside of the operating room. He was shocked as well after hearing what the doctor had to say. If it was a bitter ploy against Finnick, then it was too big a price to pay for Evelyn.

Seeing Finnick deep in remorse and guilt, Noah felt terrible and worried.

Based on Finnick’s personality, he would definitely hold himself accountable for this incident. And he most likely would take the initiative to care for Evelyn for the rest of her life. Perhaps, Evelyn did it for this purpose.

But if that was the case, then what about Mrs. Norton? At the thought of that, Noah couldn’t help but asked Finnick, “Mr. Norton, do you want to go and look for Mrs. Norton now? I’ll book a plane ticket to A Nation right away.”

Finnick was silent and did not respond. Noah’s heart thumped at Finnick’s lack of response. It seemed that Evelyn had achieved her goal.

True enough, after a moment of contemplation, Finnick said, “Put that on hold first. We’ll talk about that later once I’ve settled things for Evelyn.”

In fact, Finnick wanted very much to go after Vivian right away. But Evelyn was still in the hospital because of him. He definitely couldn’t just get up and leave.

With that, Finnick stood up and walked to Evelyn’s room. Noah was left alone, and he was starting to panic, but he couldn’t say anything at all to Finnick.

Evelyn was already awake when he entered the ward. Her face was as pale as a ghost, and she looked weak and pitiful.

Tears welled up in Evelyn’s eyes when she saw him coming into the ward. “Finnick, just now… the nurse said, my legs… my legs…”

Evelyn choked and fell silent.

The guilt in Finnick’s eyes grew more intense when he heard that she had already known about her legs.

He walked to the side of Evelyn’s bed and crouched down. “It’s all my fault, Evelyn. I made a mistake. But don’t you worry, I’ll take full responsibility for it. I’m sorry.”

After hearing Finnick’s apology, Evelyn felt a little smug and surprised. But she continued to feign sadness and said, “It’s alright, Finnick. Don’t say that. Don’t blame yourself. It’s entirely my own fault. I shouldn’t have gotten into your way.”

Immediately, Evelyn covered her mouth with her hands to stop herself from bawling. “But I really can’t forget about you, Finnick. I really can’t control how I feel about you. I thought you would wait for me… I…”

Evelyn sobbed.

Finnick felt even more guilty.

At the thought of that, Evelyn was not to be blamed. After all, he had always thought that Evelyn was gone. Come to think of it, he was the one who had a change of heart between them. After gaining back her memory, Evelyn probably was at a loss when she returned from abroad to see that things had changed between them.

But his heart belonged to Vivian, and there was no room for Evelyn. Right now, he could only do his best to make it up to Evelyn.

“Evelyn, I have to bear responsibility for this. Just let me know how I can make it up to you, and I’ll do my best.” Finnick looked at Evelyn earnestly as he said that.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 498

Deep in her heart, Evelyn was delighted after hearing Finnick’s promise to her. But she feigned a troubled look and bit her lip as she looked at Finnick.

“Do… do you mean that, Finnick? Are you really willing to do anything for me?”

“Yes.” Finnick nodded. Once again, he pledged to her. “Anything you want, Evelyn. I promise I’ll do my best.”

Finnick thought to himself. I’ve ruined the life of a young and beautiful girl. I have to agree to anything that she asks for.

With tears in her eyes, Evelyn said miserably, “Benedict kicked me out of Morrison residence after he found out that I’m not his biological sister. And now that I’m crippled, I really don’t know how I’m going to cope by myself. What am I going to do now?”

Finnick appeared distressed when he thought of Evelyn’s current situation. He was a few years older than her, and they practically grew up together. Furthermore, she was his puppy love. Although their romantic relationship had turned into a platonic friendship, he still cared about Evelyn very much.

“It’s okay, don’t worry. You have me. I’ll take care of you.” Finnick comforted Evelyn.

There was a flash of joy in Evelyn’s eyes when she finally heard Finnick said the thing she’s been wanting to hear. Finnick did not notice her momentary joy because her head was bowed.

“Okay.” Evelyn cried and nodded, and then she threw herself into Finnick’s arms.

“You’re the only person I can depend on now, Finnick. You must never leave my side. I really love you. Promise me that you’ll stay by my side forever? We’ll just be like how we were ten years ago. Didn’t you promise me ten years ago that we’ll be together forever?”

Finnick instinctively wanted to push her away as she threw herself into his arms. But after thinking about her current condition, he had no choice but to hold her in his arms.

Finnick was stunned and did not know what to say after hearing Evelyn said in his arms. He never thought that Evelyn would make such a request.

Earlier on, he was mentally prepared to give away his properties to her if she were to ask for them. He was prepared to hire the best doctor to treat her, and he was going to hire the best medical team to look after her. He was prepared to bear all the expenses for the rest of her life. But to stay by her side forever…

Vivian had never liked it when he remained in contact with Evelyn. And Evelyn was the reason why they always quarrelled. But if I were to agree with Evelyn, then what about Vivian and me? Am I to part ways with the person I loved the most from now on?

“Evelyn, I…” With a little force, Finnick pushed her away from his embrace. He hesitated as he did not know what to say to her.

Seeing the uncomfortable look on Finnick’s face, Evelyn panicked a little. She forced streams of tears from her eyes and looked at him pitifully.

“Finnick, didn’t you just promised me that you would do anything for me? I really can’t live without you. There’s no reason for me to live if you’re not by my side. I’d rather die!”

“Evelyn!” Finnick raised his voice and said with a stern expression. “How can you say such a thing? You should treasure your life.”

“Then, promise me that you’ll stay by my side. I don’t know how I’m going to continue to live like this if you’re not with me.” Evelyn cried even more pitifully. “I’m crippled now, Finnick. No one will take me for what I am now. And I don’t have any family. Do you expect me to live alone as a crippled?”

Finnick felt a little moved after listening to Evelyn. But if he were to agree to Evelyn’s request, then what would happen to Vivian and himself?

Finnick was in a dilemma. He was torn between choosing the love of his life and his lifelong responsibility. What am I to do?

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 499

Glancing at Evelyn, who was wailing in front of him, Finnick was fraught with guilt. He was the reason why Evelyn had up in this tragic fate. Now that Evelyn had asked for his help, he just couldn’t reject helping her.

Not to mention, Evelyn said so herself before that she had no one else left to rely on.. At least in Vivian’s case, she could rely on Benedict to take care of her. He wanted to make sure Evelyn was brave enough to accept her current situation and move on with her life before leaving her to find Vivian.

After pondering for a while, Finnick finally replied, “Okay, I promise that I’ll stay here with you.”

“Really?” Evelyn was cavorting in joy. “Thank you, Finnick. Thank you so much!” She embraced him.

Evelyn felt like she was on cloud nine. Vivian, even after robbing me of my place in the Morrison family, you still couldn’t get Finnick to love you. In the end, I’m the one that he really wants.

Humph, with his shares in the Finnor Group as well as the Norton Corporation, Finnick’s earnings far exceed that of Benedict’s. Marrying him will unequivocally be more beneficial in contrast to staying back at the Morrison family. Ha! Who has the last laugh now!

“It’s because of me that you ended up like this. Let me at least do this much to make it up to you.” Finnick gently pushed Evelyn back and added on, “You should lie down and rest. I have some things that I need to take care of. I’ll come back later.”

“Okay, go do what you need to. I’ll be fine.” Having achieved her goal, Evelyn acted obediently.

After helping Evelyn to lie down, Finnick turned around and left the ward.

Noah, who was waiting for Finnick outside the ward, hurriedly walked up to him. “Mr. Norton, what did Evelyn say?” Noah was afraid that Evelyn had made an unreasonable request to Finnick.

Feigning ignorance at his question, Finnick gazed at him and uttered, “Give me the divorce agreement that was sent from Benedict. I’ll sign it.”

“Mr. Norton, you really shouldn’t sign it!” Noah advised frantically as he knew that Evelyn was planning for this to happen. Mr. Norton wouldn’t have agreed to sign the divorce agreement if it wasn’t for Evelyn impinging on his relationship with Mrs. Norton.

Noah was frustrated at himself for not being able to convey his thoughts about Evelyn to Finnick.

“Mr. Norton, Mrs. Norton must be waiting for you to go and find her. You can’t…” As Noah was trying his best to convince Finnick, Finnick interrupted him and said, “I’m obstinate about my choice. Just hand me the divorce agreement.”

Seeing as Finnick was adamant to sign the divorce agreement, Noah could only keep quiet and obey his order. “Okay, I’ll go back to the office and get them now.” Noah hastily left the hospital upon finishing his sentence.

En route to the office, Noah was overwhelmed with regret. He felt that he had also played a part in exacerbating the relationship between Finnick and Vivian. Although he was threatened by Evelyn to betray Finnick, it didn’t change the fact that he was the one who did all those terrible things behind his back.

Even Noah found it hard to forgive himself, let alone Vivian and Finnick. I’ll need to find opportunities to atone for my mistakes in the future.

After getting the divorce agreement, Noah quickly went back to the hospital.

Looking at the divorce agreement in front of him, Finnick received the pen passed over by Noah but was hesitant of signing his name on it.

The vivid memories of him and Vivian suddenly evoked in his mind, causing a sad feeling in his heart. If I were to sign my name on this piece of paper, it would mean that I’ve officially severed my ties with Vivian.

Finnick forced out a smile. Are the wonderful memories we had together going to end just like this? Could their relationship be determined with just a signature on some documents?

“Mr. Norton, you can still change your mind. It’s not too late for you to chase down Mrs. Norton.” Seeing the miserable look on Finnick’s face, Noah tried once again to convince him.

Finnick was snapped out of his thoughts after hearing what Noah said. He then lifted his head to glance at the direction of Evelyn’s ward. The sight of Evelyn bursting into tears played in his mind again. Having strengthened his resolve, Finnick quickly signed his name onto the divorce agreement.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 500

After signing the divorce agreement, Finnick handed it over to Noah without taking another look at it. “Send it to Benedict as soon as possible.”

“Yes.” Noah reluctantly accepted the divorce agreement. He was chagrined of the fact that he had failed to persuade him in the end.

“Help me look after Evelyn for a while. I’m going out to get some fresh air,” instructed Finnick. Finnick was very conflicted; he didn’t know how he should face Evelyn after this. What he needed was some space and time to figure out his next move.

“Okay,” replied Noah.

Finnick turned around and headed toward the exit of the hospital. The feeling of loneliness surrounded him as he walked out of the hospital.

Glaring at the back of Finnick, Noah let out a sigh before diverting his gaze to the divorce agreement in his hand. Is it really over for Mr. and Mrs. Norton?

Noah gritted his teeth in anger as he thought about the perpetrator behind all of this. He walked into Evelyn’s ward with the crumpled file in his hand.

In the meantime, Evelyn was sitting nonchalantly on her bed, with a smug expression on her face. For a person who had just lost the ability to walk, she seemed rather delighted.

As Noah entered the ward, Evelyn arrogantly gave out an order to him, “I’m craving for some apples. Help me peel one.”

However, Noah just stood there and stared vacuously at her.

Miffed, Evelyn frowned after seeing Noah’s response. “What’s wrong? I’ll soon be the madam president of the Finnor Group. Do I not have the authority to order you around?”

“What? You’re going to marry Mr. Norton?” Noah was shocked after hearing Evelyn’s words. Not only did Mr. Norton promised to divorce Vivian, but he also promised to marry Evelyn?

Looking at Noah’s reaction, Evelyn was getting haughtier as she uttered, “Yes, but this was all possible because of you. Thank you so much for your help. Without you, It wouldn’t have been this successful.”

Livid, Noah was clenching his fists. He could only endure her provocation as it was indisputable that he had indeed “helped” her in this matter all along.

Noah was getting so furious to the point where his face turned bright red. “You deliberately fell down the stairs, right?” Noah impugned the truth behind her accident.

“Ah, so you’ve seen through it.” Evelyn seemed unperturbed even after being exposed by Noah. “Yes, I did it intentionally.”

Although Noah had speculated as much, he was still surprised upon hearing her admitting it in person. “You’re crazy! You might have to sit in a wheelchair for the rest of your life. Do you understand what you’ve gotten yourself into?”

Noah was by no means worried about Evelyn. He just couldn’t comprehend how crazy and terrifying this woman could be. She was willing to go as far as hurting herself just to achieve her goal! Not to mention that the injury she had to sustain wasn’t just a scratch that would heal by itself after a few days.

“Of course, I do!” Evelyn was also infuriated by Noah’s words. Having lost both her legs, it was impossible for her to realize the quagmire that she had gotten herself into. “If it meant that I could be with Finnick forever, losing a pair of legs is a small price to pay. I’ll deign to do anything just to be with him!” Evelyn was getting riled up.

“You are really crazy.” Noah took a step back away from Evelyn as he was frightened by her fiery eyes. “Is there nothing that you’re afraid of in this world?” Noah murmured in an incredulous tone.

Although his voice was very low, Evelyn was still able to hear his response. “At least you know now. That being said, you’d better take what we’ve discussed here to the grave. If Finnick somehow got word about this, I’ll expose what you did to Vivian to the public. Also, don’t forget that your parents’ lives are still in my hands!”

Glaring at the minatory look on her face as she was threatening him, the aversion Noah had for her grew even more. He felt that Evelyn was like a stain on his body that he couldn’t wash off no matter how hard he tried. He was very disgusted with that thought.

“Evelyn, the one that Mr. Norton loves is Vivian. He would never fall for an abhorrent woman like you. All your petty schemes will fail you in the end!”

Hearing the name Vivian being mentioned, Evelyn was furious. “Vivian is worthless to Finnick. I’m better than her in every aspect! Finnick would never like an ugly woman like her!”
