Never Late, Never Away Chapter 641

As she was his ex, he couldn’t bring himself to do something as cruel as that. Hence, he decided to let stay in a moment of weakness.

But now, he realized that he had shown her too much mercy. A vicious woman such as Evelyn didn’t deserve his pity at all.

The moment he entered, Finnick could hear Evelyn scolding Mrs. Filder.

“Didn’t I tell you that I prefer my food to be less salty? Why did you add in so much salt still? Are you trying to kill me? Do you even want to keep your job?”

Mrs. Filder hung her head in silence. This wasn’t the first time it happened and Mrs. Filder was well aware that it had nothing to do with the food. It was just Evelyn venting her frustrations due to her bad mood.

Her experience told her that if she talked back, she would end up with an even worse reprimand. As long as she stayed silent and let Evelyn say her piece, the matter would just blow over quickly.

“She was hired by me, so it’s not up to you to decide.” Just went Mrs. Filder was almost in tears, a male voice rang out to her rescue.

“Mr. Norton, you’re back!” Mrs. Filder exclaimed in joy the moment she looked up.

When Finnick was still living there, Evelyn would still treat the maids with respect just to maintain her facade. However, ever since he moved away, Evelyn suddenly turned into a different person. She would always nitpick and vent her frustrations on them.

At the rate it was going, she wasn’t willing to continue working there no matter how much Finnick paid her.

“Why don’t you head down first,” Finnick instructed Mrs. Filder as he tried hard to suppress his anger.

“Right away.” As if she had been pardoned, Mrs. Filder left quickly.

She hoped that Finnick would move back into the house. Or else, she was seriously considering quitting.

“Finnick, you’re back!” Unconcerned with what had just happened, Evelyn wheeled herself happily toward Finnick.

Grabbing his hand, tears flowed down her cheeks while her voice sounded pitiful.

“Finnick, please don’t leave me again. You have no idea how lonely it is to stay in such a huge house alone. I don’t even have anyone to talk to. I have repented over my mistake, so can you forgive me?”

“Repented?” Finnick sneered at Evelyn’s words. “Have you really repented?”

“Yes, I have.” Evelyn nodded at once and raised her hand to swear, “I swear that I’ll never do it again. So, why don’t you move back in with me?”

Finnick looked at her swearing hand with contempt. She really isn’t afraid of divine punishment.

“Fine, I promise you that I won’t leave,” Finnick gritted his teeth as he uttered every word. Staring at Evelyn, his eyes were filled with disdain.

However, Evelyn wasn’t sensitive to his words. Instead, she asked in delight, “Really? You’re really staying?”

“Of course, I’ll be staying.” As rage filled his eyes, he pushed Evelyn’s hand away forcefully and raised his voice. “This time, you’re the one who will be leaving!”

Pushed by Finnick, Evelyn collapsed to the ground together with her wheelchair. After struggling to gather herself, she looked at Finnick in disbelief, “You’re chasing me out?”

“Evelyn, when will you stop with your charade? Do you think no one knows what you did?” Finnick questioned her angrily.

What did I do? Did he find out about me and Noah forcing Vivian to have an abortion? Evelyn panicked at once. Who told him that? Noah? That traitor!

“Finnick, don’t listen to Noah. He is just making wild accusations. I didn’t do any such thing!”

As Evelyn desperately defended herself, she crawled forward and grabbed onto Finnick. However, he pushed her away again.

“Why would Noah frame you for no reason?” Finnick roared. “Evelyn, I’ve warned you before not to harm Vivian, or else I will never forgive you. However, I never expected you to hire someone to assassinate her. Since you ignored my warning, I will not show you any mercy!”

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 642

What assassination? Evelyn was confused by Finnick’s words. Despite his fury, it isn’t even about me forcing Vivian to get an abortion?

“Finnick, what are you talking about? I don’t understand.”

When he saw that she refused to admit it, Finnick’s anger was further inflamed. “Until now, you still think that I’m a fool! Tell me, was it you who hired someone to kill Vivian at the opera house?”

When she realized what it was about, Evelyn was suddenly filled with courage as she wasn’t responsible for it.

“It wasn’t me. Finnick, you can get someone to investigate. It really wasn’t my doing!” Evelyn retorted as the fear she previously had was gone.

As she was innocent, she wasn’t worried about Finnick investigating the matter.

“Do you still think that I’ll believe you? Who else can it be other than you?” Finnick wasn’t going to believe her anymore. “I had previously planned to let you go. But given how unrepentant you are, don’t blame me for being cruel.”

“I don’t know who it did either but I am definitely not involved.” For the first time, Evelyn felt as if whatever she said would fall on deaf ears.

“Finnick, have you gotten anyone to investigate the matter? Perhaps, that wench, Vivian, has offended someone else and they are retaliating against her? There’s a possibility she did it just so that she could frame me, and make you think that I was responsible. That way, she can sow discord between the two of us. Finnick, you must get someone to find out the truth. This really has got nothing to do with me…”

“Shut up!” Finnick interrupted her as he could no longer stand her protests. The veins by his temples were already throbbing. “Until now, you insist on blaming Vivian still. There’s no hope for you. Mrs. Filder!”

Finnick called for the maid.

She was in her room observing what was going on outside. Now that she heard her name being called, she walked out immediately.

“Mr. Norton, what is it?” Mrs. Filder asked in a trembling voice when she saw how furious Finnick was.

“Gather the others and kick Evelyn out of the house!” Finnick pointed at Evelyn.

“Huh?” Mrs. Filder looked up in shock. Over the years, they had always treated Evelyn as the lady of the house. And now, they were surprised that Finnick wanted her to be kicked out.

“Finnick, how can you do this to me? I don’t even have any family. Where do you want me to go?” Before Mrs. Filder could react, Evelyn collapsed in tears and bawled miserably.

“I swear… I swear that this has nothing to do with me. If I’m lying, may God then punish me.”

Just as Evelyn spoke, a thundering rumble was heard outside. The previously clear sky was suddenly raining heavily.

As lightning streaked across the sky, it illuminated Evelyn’s ashen face. All she could do was curse at the timing of the thunderstorm.

“Evelyn, even God is peeved with you. What else do you have to say for yourself?” Finnick didn’t really believe in divine punishment, but he couldn’t ignore the momentary coincidence.

As he had run out of patience with Evelyn, Finnick stormed out of the house and ordered, “Mrs. Filder, if I still see Evelyn at home when I return, you will have to leave together with her.”

After working there for such a long time, Mrs. Filder had never seen Finnick this angry before. Hence, she understood the gravity of his words.

Filled with thoughts of how Evelyn mistreated her, Mrs. Filder steeled her heart. She walked toward Evelyn and pushed her out of the house in her wheelchair.

“You stupid maid! How dare you do this to me!” Evelyn shrieked. However, due to her pampered lifestyle, there was no way she could struggle against Mrs. Filder who was a lot stronger from the years of hard chores.

Ignoring Evelyn’s tirade, Mrs. Filder locked the door behind her after leaving Evelyn outside. Realizing that she no longer needed to serve Evelyn, Mrs. Filder was filled with a sense of inexplicable smugness.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 643

Evelyn was fully drenched in no time under the pouring rain. Right when she was about to knock on the door, she noticed Finnick’s car driving past her.

“Finnick, I have no involvement in this matter! You must believe me! It really wasn’t me!” Evelyn yelled at the top of her voice.

Noticing that she was soaked to the bones, Noah slowed down the car and glanced at Finnick through the rearview mirror in hesitance. “Mr. Norton, do we ignore her?”

“Just drive,” Finnick said with his head lowered, unperturbed.

Hearing that, Noah heaved a sigh of relief. He accelerated the car, determined to make a clean break with the woman. She only has herself to blame!

Evelyn felt thoroughly hopeless as she watched the car speed away.

What do I do? Finnick truly doesn’t want me anymore. Without the Morrisons, Finnick, and my legs, I have nothing left. How am I supposed to live?

Sitting in the middle of the downpour, Evelyn had no idea where she could go to seek refuge.

How did things get to this point? I’d schemed for so many years. How could I end up in such a pathetic state with nowhere to turn to? Where did it go wrong?

Hurriedly searching through her brains for anyone she could turn to, Evelyn’s eyes eventually lit up with a sliver of hope. That’s right! There’s still Rachel William. She’ll definitely help me!

She wheeled herself around in her wheelchair and found a pavilion in the neighborhood to seek temporary shelter from the rain. Wiping the raindrops from her face, she pulled out her phone from her pocket. Fortunately, the device managed to remain dry and functional.

She scrolled through her list of saved contacts and found Rachel William, immediately dialing it. For the first time, she hoped desperately that the person she used to despise so much would pick up her call.

At the same moment, Vivian happened to be in Rachel’s ward. She had gone to see Hunter Yates earlier and decided to visit Rachel when she passed by the hospital on the way.

“How’s the preparation for the surgery? When is it scheduled for?” Vivian asked in concern about Rachel’s condition.

Rachel patted the back of Vivian’s hand with a comforting smile. “The check-ups are more or less done. Don’t worry. The doctor said I should be ready for surgery at the end of the month.”

All these years, she had lived with the mentality of living one day at a time. Now that a hope to live was within her grasp—one that was given to her by her daughter—she was naturally exhilarated.

“It’s great that Evelyn has agreed to save you.” Vivian felt much better seeing Rachel’s smile.

No matter what, it was still a piece of good news. Rachel had raised her since birth. She naturally wished for her to be able to live as long as possible.

At the mention of Evelyn, Rachel was full of joy. The smile on her face deepened. “Yeah. That child, Evelyn, still regards me as her mother in her heart. She wouldn’t let me suffer.”

Vivian couldn’t help feeling dejected when she heard Rachel speaking in a pampering tone. She forced a smile in response and lowered her head. In the eyes of Rachel, Evelyn would always be the best.

“I’ll pour you a glass of water.” Vivian turned to walk toward the water dispenser. Taking the opportunity, she discreetly wiped at her eyes. Even though she’d long accepted that fact, her heart would still feel sour regardless.

As Rachel stared at Vivian’s back view, she abruptly recalled something. “Vivian, I saw the news yesterday. You ran into a thug at the entrance of the opera house and even got injured. What exactly happened?”

Hearing that, Vivian’s movements paused. An uninhibited thought surfaced in her head. She wanted to know if she could still measure up to Evelyn in Rachel’s heart.

Passing the glass of water to Rachel, Vivian took a seat and said, “That afternoon, Evelyn invited me to the opera house to watch opera. I agreed, but I never expected something like that to happen to me. Thankfully, a friend of mine blocked the knife for me. Otherwise, I would be the one lying in the hospital bed right now.”

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 644

Rachel’s face turned frigid after listening to Vivian’s words. “Do you mean to say it was all planned by Evelyn?”

“It was her who invited me to the opera house. Other than her, there’s no one else I can think of,” Vivian answered straightforwardly.

“That’s impossible. Evelyn is a kind-hearted person. How could she possibly orchestrate such a thing?” Rachel raised her voice and said, “Vivian, did you misunderstand something? You can’t unjustly accuse Evelyn without proof. I firmly believe she wouldn’t do something like that.”

“How am I unjust?” Vivian’s gaze turned agitated. “It’s not the first time she’s done something like that. Five years ago, she kidnapped me and arranged for others to humiliate me. She had already confessed to doing so!”

Rachel’s face fell. “But you can’t blame it on Evelyn simply because she’d made a mistake in the past. It’s been a long time. You didn’t suffer much anyway. You shouldn’t hold a grudge to it anymore.”

Vivian couldn’t conceal her disappointment as she stared at Rachel stiffly. Is our bond of over two decades this unworthy that she felt nothing for my plight?

Noticing Vivian’s sorrowful gaze, Rachel knew what she said was unfair. “Vivian,” she said in a coaxing voice, holding onto Vivian’s hand, “Evelyn was insensible back then. What she did was indeed somewhat out of line. I’ll apologize on her behalf. Will you forgive her this once and stop holding her accountable for it?”

Vivian let out a bitter chuckle. Somewhat out of line? Not only did Evelyn orchestrate her kidnapping, but she also caused her to divorce Finnick and fled abroad for five years while she was pregnant. Larry had to grow up without a father. These were all unforgivable matters in her heart, yet Rachel made it sound like they weren’t even worth mentioning.

“I got it,” Vivian said in a low voice. She refused to say anything else, for she knew it was meaningless.

Hearing Vivian’s response, Rachel grinned in contentment. “That’s right. You and Evelyn are both my daughters. It’s only right to love and care for each other. Vivian, Evelyn has a mind of a child and is handicapped. You should give in to her a little. Don’t fuss over minor matters with her.”

Vivian hummed, too emotionally drained to even feel upset about it.

She had already made up her mind. As soon as Rachel got better, she would have returned the favor of her upbringing. She was prepared to let their two decades of kinship come to an end by then and stop visiting her in the future.

“Furthermore, Evelyn—” Before she could exhort Vivian to show more concern for Evelyn, her phone rang, interrupting her.

She whipped out her phone and saw the display flashing Evelyn’s name. She took no time to accept the call, smiling from the bottom of her eyes.

Vivian smiled bitterly on the inside. Witnessing how blissful Rachel was from a mere phone call from Evelyn. Her years of concern for her felt ludicrous.

Unexpectedly, Rachel’s expression turned sullen in a blink of an eye. Her voice became anxious as she said, “Don’t cry, Evelyn. Tell me, what happened?”

Vivian couldn’t hear what Evelyn was saying through the phone. All she could see was Rachel’s tears dripping like tap water, her gaze filled with distress.

“Evelyn, stay there! I’ll go pick you up right now. Wait for me!”

Having hung up the call, Rachel hurriedly got off the bed in an attempt to get to the door. To her dismay, she hadn’t balanced herself well and immediately fell to the floor.

Vivian rushed up to help her up. “What’s the matter with Evelyn?”

“Evelyn said she was chased out by Finnick with nowhere to go. I have to go pick her up,” Rachel cried. She pulled herself up onto her feet with the sole goal of getting to Evelyn.

It was raining cats and dogs out there, and Rachel was in a fragile state. She was supposed to undergo surgery soon. How could Vivian possibly let her leave?

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 645

Rachel shoved Vivian’s arm away before the latter could say a word. “Don’t stop me! It’s raining so heavily outside. Evelyn’s unable to walk! Who knows if she’s drenched? I must get to my pitiful daughter right away!”

At that point, Vivian was no longer bothered about Rachel’s prejudiced behavior. She tugged at Rachel once again and said quickly, “Your body’s unwell. Even if you get there, you might not be able to take her back. Tell me where she is. I’ll go.”

Recalling that Evelyn said she was outside the Norton family’s villa, she relented. After all, Vivian had once lived there and would certainly be more familiar with the area than she would. She grabbed Vivian’s hand and cried, “Evelyn said she’s outside the Norton family’s villa. Vivian, you know the place better than I do. You must promise me to bring her back!”

“I know, I know,” Vivian answered anxiously. “Stop crying. I promise you. I’ll bring her back in one piece.”

“Ignore me. Just hurry up and go!” Rachel pushed Vivian out of the ward as she spoke. “Go pick her up quickly! The longer you take, the more she’ll have to suffer.”

“All right, I got it. Stay in the hospital and don’t go anywhere,” Vivian instructed worriedly. She left hurriedly as soon as she took her bag from the ward.

“Vivian! You must bring Evelyn back safely!” Hearing Rachel’s guttural yell from behind, she tolerated the bitterness and never turned around.

As she drove to Finnick’s villa, she tried to process what she heard earlier. Why would Evelyn be chased out by Finnick? Did he find out that she tried to assassinate me? If that’s the case, then the trap I designed for Evelyn seems to have begun working.

Vivian sped up the car, unwilling to think any further. She had never once wanted to see Evelyn as eager as she did then.

Her heart welled up with mixed feelings when she neared Finnick’s villa and recognized the scenery she was once so familiar with. Her mind couldn’t help but flash with images of the times she used to live there.

Shaking her head, she told herself that it wasn’t the time to be reminiscing and focused solely on searching for Evelyn.

There! After driving in circles for a while, she finally spotted Evelyn—who seemed to have fainted—in a pavilion.

She quickly found a spot nearby to park her car and ran in the rain toward the pavilion. There, she was greeted by the sight of a fully drenched, unconscious Evelyn. She looked to be in terrible shape.

Vivian smirked, her heart feeling ironically care. She must have never expected to end up in such a pathetic state back when she was scheming against me. It’s never too late for revenge. The pain you caused me, I’ll be sure to give them back to you!

Vivian had to exert quite a bit of effort to carry the unconscious Evelyn to her car. She took her to one of the Morrisons’ smaller condominiums and called for Ms. Booker, a housemaid she trusted, to take care of her.

“Get her changed,” she instructed Ms. Booker before heading toward the bathroom for a shower. Her sweat had mixed with the rain earlier, causing her to feel exceptionally uncomfortable.

When she came out of the shower, Evelyn had already been changed. Seeing Vivian, Ms. Booker asked respectfully, “Miss, is there anything else you need?”

“Make some soup.”

“Yes,” the housemaid said before she left the room.

Vivian clutched her own hands tightly. She was coldly scrutinizing Evelyn as the latter lay on the bed. Did she think she was cruel? No, not at all. She was merely treating Evelyn the way she was once treated. To show compassion to one’s enemy was the worst mistake anyone could make. Vivian had understood the meaning behind those words a long time ago.

This is her karma! I must never be sympathetic to her!

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 646

Perhaps due to Vivian’s cold gaze, Evelyn slowly fluttered her eyes open. She was momentarily puzzled, having no clue where she was.

Did Rachel bring me here? She recalled making a call to Rachel before she fell unconscious. Thinking about that, she sat up and scoped around for Rachel’s presence. To her surprise, the person in the room turned out to be Vivian instead.

Evelyn broke down in an instant when all her memories returned at once. She screamed at Vivian, “What are you doing here! Where is this place!”

“This is one of the Morrisons’ condominiums. I brought you here,” Vivian composed herself and said in a calm voice. It was not the time for her to fall out with Evelyn yet.

To implement her plan successfully, she had to make Evelyn believe she was still the gullible, naive Vivian William she used to be.

“I doubt you’d be so benevolent! If it weren’t for you, would I have ended up in such a state? What exactly do you want?”

The memory of Finnick throwing her out replayed continuously in her head. The mere realization of that drove her insane. How could she remember that she was supposed to act like a good person in front of Vivian?

“It’s your mother who wanted me to pick you up from Finnick’s villa,” Vivian explained patiently. “She asked me to take good care of you.”

Hearing that, Evelyn began to calm down, but her gaze remained suspicious as she stared at Vivian. “It’s Rachel William who made you come?”

Did she not orchestrate the events at the opera house? If it weren’t her, then it was truly way too coincidental.

“Mm,” Vivian hummed in response with her head lowered. “Didn’t you once say we’re friends? Even if Mom didn’t ask that of me, I wouldn’t turn my back on you either.” Despite speaking against her will, her face maintained a sincere expression.

Apparently, having dealt with Evelyn for so long had helped cultivated her acting skills.

“You may stay here for the time being. It’s inconvenient for you to move around, so I’ve found a housemaid to take care of you. As for Finnick, don’t worry, I’ll put in a good word for you.

Seeing how well Vivian was taking care of her, Evelyn couldn’t help but be dubious of her intention. Is she truly doing this with no other motives? Logically speaking, she has no reason to be this kind to me.

Knowing it wouldn’t be so easy for Evelyn to believe her, she added, “The bone marrow transplant can be done at the end of the month. You must take care of yourself in the meantime.”

So it’s because of that. Evelyn sneered on the inside. No wonder Rachel sounded so anxious on the phone. Turns out, it wasn’t because she was worried for me, but her life! I knew that vile woman wasn’t this kind-hearted. But since they’re the ones who need something from me right now, I might as well make use of this opportunity. There’s nowhere for me to go anyway. Since they want to help, I’ll take advantage of it then.

Noticing Evelyn visibly relaxing, Vivian was aware the former had dropped her guard toward her. It seemed her analysis was spot on. To convince someone like Evelyn, one had to adjust themselves to their way of thinking.

Having figured out why Vivian would help her, Evelyn couldn’t help but think she was still as stupid as she was five years ago. Rachel William is merely her adopted mother. Is there a need to come to such an extent?

Although she thought that way, she didn’t dare to say them. After all, she still needed to depend on Vivian.

“Thank you for treating me as a friend, Vivian. Thank you for being there when I needed you. I’m sorry for everything in the past. I was immature. It was all my fault. I’m truly sorry,” Evelyn choked out. Her eyes even managed to squeeze out several drops of tears. “Vivian, I’m really sorry. Will you give me a chance to make it up to you?”

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 647

How versatile she was. It took no time for her to interchange between screaming at me like a shrew to pleading for forgiveness. Vivian sneered in her heart but continued to put up the pretense with her on the surface. “It’s all in the past. Let’s pretend that none of it ever happened and never mention them again.”

“All right. I won’t bring it up again.” Evelyn pretended to wipe her tears. “Vivian, will you really help me talk to Finnick?”

“What conflict were the both of you having? Finnick—” Vivian deliberately glanced at Evelyn as if she was in a dilemma. “Why did he chase you out? You have to tell me in detail so I can help you.”

“Finnick assumed I was the one behind the incident at the opera house,” Evelyn said aggrievedly. She only dared to say it because it truly had nothing to do with her.

“How could it be?” Vivian pretended to be shocked.

“Vivian, you have to believe me. It wasn’t me! Please don’t misunderstand me as Finnick did. You can get someone to investigate it,” Evelyn explained, anxiously clutching onto Vivian’s hands.

“I believe you.” Vivian nodded after a glance at Evelyn. “Don’t fret. I’ll go explain to Finnick that it has nothing to do with you.”

Evelyn was stunned. She believed me so easily? What an idiot. But it didn’t seem so wrong when she thought about it again. After all, it was true that she had nothing to do with the matter.

“I have something on. Hence, I won’t stay any longer. I thought you’d be hungry after you wake up, so I’ve already told Ms. Booker to make you some soup. Remember to drink some so you’ll feel better.” Vivian sounded entirely like how a best friend should.

Seeing Vivian that way, Evelyn only despised her even more. A simple-minded person like her can never succeed in life!

“All right. You can leave if you have to. I’ll drink the soup later,” Evelyn said, pretending to sound moved. “Vivian, I’m truly grateful toward you.”

“Don’t be. Rest well. I’ll be on my way.” Vivian smiled and waved in farewell before turning around to leave the room. As soon as the door closed with a soft click, her face instantly turned cold.

She walked to the kitchen and saw Ms. Booker focused on making soup. Despite the fragrant smell permeating her nose, her mood failed to take a better turn.

Noticing Vivian, the housemaid hurriedly wiped her hands on her apron and respectfully approached her. “Miss, do you have any instructions?” she asked.

“Please keep watch of Evelyn from now on. Report her every move to me,” Vivian ordered, her tone as cold as ice.

To prevent Evelyn from harming Larry or herself, she needed to keep Evelyn in the palms of her hands. Moreover, Rachel would be undergoing surgery soon. She had to make sure Evelyn wouldn’t pull out last minute or else, everything would be in vain.

Therefore, it was best to place Evelyn in an area where she had control and have her under her surveillance.

“Yes,” Ms. Booker said. She had been with the Morrison family for several years and understood that it wasn’t her place to question things.

“Take the soup to her when it’s ready. You have to be careful. Don’t let her find out anything,” Vivian said worriedly.

“I understand, Miss,” the housemaid answered seriously.

“Thank you for your hard work.” Having said that, Vivian left the condominium.

She gave Rachel a call immediately after and informed her of Evelyn’s whereabouts.

“Is Evelyn all right? Was she injured?” Rachel questioned anxiously.

With an expressionless face, Vivian said in a mild voice, “She’s all right. She’s resting now.”

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 648

“I am glad you are fine.” Rachel let out a sigh of relief and then asked anxiously, “Vivian, what’s the address of that apartment? I am worried that Evelyn would have a hard time living alone. I should go take care of her.”

“It’s alright. I have already hired a nanny to take care of her.” Vivian tried to assure Rachel. “This nanny has been working in the Morrison family for several years. She is very experienced, so you don’t have to worry. Your current physical condition is also not very good, so it is better not to exhaust yourself. After you recover, I will bring you to see her again.”

Hearing these words from Vivian, Rachel was grateful. “Vivian, thank you so much. Thank you for helping Evelyn.”

“It’s okay. You don’t need to thank me,” Vivian responded politely. “Didn’t you say that Evelyn and I should take care of each other?”

“I am glad that you can think of it this way.” Rachel expressed a relieved smile on the phone. “Vivian, Evelyn has been kicked out by Finnick, and I, as a mother, can’t do anything to help her. You are the only one I can count on to watch over her.”

“I understand.” Vivian’s voice sounded a little moody. “I have something else to do, so I’ll hang up first. Don’t worry. I will make sure Evelyn being well taken care of.”

“Okay. That’s good to know,” Rachel replied in a hustle.

As soon as she hung up, Vivian raised her head and took a deep breath. She was worn out.

Acting with Evelyn was exhausting, and talking to Rachel was even more so. She did not like how tiring her life was now, and she missed her old naive self.

But for the future of she and her son, reality had left her no choice. This was the only way to make sure justice be served.

Taking a deep breath to clear her head, Vivian advanced towards her car. Larry should have finished school by now. Imagining her son’s lovely face and cute voice, her mood lightened up a little.

But just after walking a few steps, Vivian detected hurried and chaotic footsteps behind her. Before she could turn her head vigilantly, she was held on a chokehold by a strong arm.

In the next instance, a pair of hands covered her nose and mouth – it was, without doubt, a man.

Vivian struggled vigorously and yelled in a muffled voice, trying to break from the restraint of the other party. But he was too strong, and her struggle failed to move him even an inch.

Next, it was darkness all around. Vivian realized that she was blindfolded, and so she became even more anxious. Who exactly is this man? Who sent him?

“Help!” Vivian shook her head desperately while making loud noises, hoping that someone around could miraculously come to her rescue.

“Stop talking and stop struggling. As long as you don’t fight, we won’t hurt you.” The man’s hoarse voice echoed.

As the man’s words slid into her ears, the fear in her heart multiplied. Dreading that these people would do something terrible to her, Vivian hurriedly nodded and gave in.

After that, she felt she was carried being into a car, and her hands and feet were tied with rope.

Forcing herself to calm down, Vivian was guessing who the kidnapper would be. The biggest suspects are Evelyn and Mark.

But Evelyn has just been driven out from the Norton family by Finnick. She would be too busy worrying about her own a** to kidnap me at this moment. Or is it Mark? If it was him, what does he want? Does he want to use me to threaten Finnick again?

As the horror deepened, Vivian’s whole body quivered slightly. I can’t have anything happen to me. Otherwise, what will happen to Larry? My poor fatherless baby can’t lose his mother too!

With that in mind, Vivian’s brain was dashing to conceive of a way to herself. But before she could think of anything, she felt the car came to a halt.

Are we there? Where am I now?

She was taken from the car by the two people who had been sitting next to her. Still uncertain of where she was, the sound that she heard next confused her even more.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 649

Isn’t it the sound of an elevator? Where exactly is this? Based on my previous traumatic experience, shouldn’t I be taken to a warehouse or something? Why is there an elevator?

With incomprehension, Vivian was finally lowered to the floor. To her surprise, those people just left after that.

“Anyone there?” Vivian asked with her trembling voice, but there was no answer.

Squirming her body vigorously, Vivian tried to sense the surrounding with her hands. It felt like a room. Why did they take me into a room?

Recalling that Evelyn hired someone to humiliate herself before, cold sweat started dripping on Vivian’s forehead.

Is it Evelyn again? Could it be that she would repeat the same act? Anyway, I’ll never let her succeed! I have to find a way to escape now.

Fumbling around with her hands, Vivian searched for something to help her cut the rope. But her effort was in vain.

Unable to obtain anything, she tried to loosen the rope via friction but only to realize that her wrists were being tied tightly. But the peculiar thing was that she did not feel any pain around her wrist. The rope that tied her did not seem to be an ordinary hemp rope, and it felt rather flimsy to the touch.

That person… won’t be some sort of pervert, would it? At the thought of this, Vivian’s heart thumped wildly again, and she struggled even harder to set herself , but with no success.

Just when Vivian was overwhelmed with desperation, she heard the door opened. Then there were sounds of footsteps – calm and assertive. She knew right away it was a man.

Still unable to break , Vivian was so anxious that her tears were about to fall. Who exactly is it? Is he going to do something to me?

As the footsteps gradually approached, Vivian’s heart leaped to her throat.

“Stop! Don’t come near! Who are you?” She summoned the courage to shout, but her shivering body exposed the panic in her heart.

It was complete darkness in front of her, with only a slight glare piercing her eyes from below. Vivian tried to identify the person standing in front of her, but she soon realized that it was impossible.

However, the words she yelled just now obviously had some effect. She sensed the footsteps had stopped and were no longer approaching her.

Holding back her nerves, Vivian’s lips quivered as she opened her mouth again. “You… who are you? Why did you kidnap me?”

Without responding to her question, the man in front of her stared at her with a complicated expression. After observing her for a long time, he lifted his feet and started going towards her again.

Detecting the resuming footsteps, Vivian instantly moved back with vast effort. “Don’t come here! What do you want? Ah!”

Vivian clearly sensed the man leaning down towards her. In fact, she could even slightly feel his breath at her neck. All of a sudden, she was picked up abruptly and placed on the sofa beside her.

Is he going to do something bad to me? Despair emerged in Vivian’s heart that instant.

With that, Vivian shrank to the corner of the sofa in fear. Her tied hands were waving wildly in front of her. However, the man in front of her did not make any further movements.

She could feel him standing in front of her. For some reason, she felt even more frightened when he was not moving.

At this moment, she felt like a rabbit locked up in a cage. No matter how hard she struggled, she could only wait to be slaughtered.

Under the hysteria of fear, Vivian ceased talking. She bit her lip firmly and froze as she waited quietly with the man.

But after a while, she felt a warm hand caressing her cheek. He was touching her face!

His hand gently stroked her cheek while his thumb and index finger subconsciously squeezed her thin chin. Those dark eyes of his were staring intensely at those delicate lips.

The fear when facing the unknown was innate. At that moment, Vivian wanted so badly to burrow into the sofa to get away from that man, but it was no use. She had nowhere to run.

Never Late, Never Away Chapter 650

“Who are you? Did Evelyn or Mark send you?” Vivian interrogated uncertainly. Apart from these two people, she really could not think of anyone else that she had offended.

The hand stroking her cheek suddenly paused. Vivian could clearly feel the hesitation in his fingers, but the man still did not provide an answer.

Vivian’s voice seemed to echo in that room, and strange anxiety rose in her heart. Left without a choice, she abruptly shook her head to remove the man’s hand that was on her face.

Not knowing where her courage came from, Vivian swiftly strode forward and shoved the man approaching her away. “Go away! Don’t touch me!”

Her skin touched the man’s shirt, and she was startled to find that it felt rather smooth. Judging from her knowledge and experience with menswear, the material was probably something expensive and custom-made.

If he was one of Evelyn and Mark’s, he probably wouldn’t wear such nice clothes. Who is he then?

Frantically trying to figure out the man’s identity in her mind, Vivian was suddenly thrust onto the sofa. The overwhelming presence of the man made her heart fell with a thud.

Vivian could almost predict what would happen next. At that point, she was terribly scared, screaming as she struggled. “Let go of me! You b**tard, get up…”

Before she could finish her sentence, a pair of soft lips found their way to hers, pressing them tightly shut. The man’s massive body was forced onto her body, holding her captive. One of his hands supported the back of her head, while the other was holding her chin.

In the beginning, the man kissed her tenderly. It almost made Vivian think that the way he acted was towards the person he loved, and not a hostage.

But when she thought that she was being humiliated by a stranger, the sense of shame soared in her heart. Coming back to her senses, she shook her head desperately to dodge him.

Maybe it was her struggle that triggered the man. His kisses suddenly became more domineering, and his tongue swept through her mouth vigorously, like a hungry wolf craving for food.

There was no way for Vivian to give in like this. She opened her mouth and wanted to bite the man’s tongue. But he seemed to have predicted her trick. He then pinched her jaw, numbing her tongue.

At that point, Vivian’s eyebrows were already tightly furrowed. With her hands clasped tight, she used all her strength to punch the man.

She could not be more intimidated then, despite knowing that her actions would not harm the man. But what she feared was worse; she feared if what she did would annoy him. Nonetheless, there was no way that she could endure such humiliation without doing anything.

On the contrary, the man did not erupt from anger after that punch, and neither did she even hear a muffled groan. All the rage and hatred seemed to vanish into nowhere, and there was no response coming from the man.

Boiled with frustration and restlessness, Vivian slapped the man recklessly. “A**hole, get out! Don’t you dare touch me!”

The man wanted to stop her attack but discovered that the strength of this woman was unexpected. For a while, he even failed to restrain her.

Yet, the man just hung her tied wrist around his neck and locked her into a deep and passionate kiss. For some odd reason, there was a vaguely familiar scent lingering on the end of her nose.

This smells… so familiar? Vivian’s heart started to tremble uncontrollably at that thought.

Eventually, the man’s kiss was no longer as domineering as before. His lips then gently fell on her cheek and the corner of her lips as if to soothe an injured small animal.

After that, his lips made their way down towards her cheeks. When he reached her chin, the man gently nibbled the tip of her chin and then returned to her lips.

Vivian was startled by his every single move. Is it really him? Once that conjecture popped into her mind, she could not hold herself back any longer.

Following that, Vivian carefully explored the man using her other senses – his body, his scent, his breath, and his familiar tiny movements when kissing. The longer she was entwined with him, the faster her heart beat. Now she was almost sure about the identity of the mystery man.

It must be him. This is absurd! As she slowly came to a realization, Vivian felt flames of hatred burning all over her body. How could he do such a thing to me? He went too far this time, that b**tard!
