Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1071
“How are they different?” Han Muzi murmured, her heart twitching. Immediately afterward, she comforted herself in her heart. The doctor had to be making things more serious than they actually were so that the patient and their family could prepare themselves, but the results would generally be better than expected. Thinking of this, Han Muzi felt a little more at ease.
“You’ve mentioned before that Mr. Ye has lost his memory, right?”
“Yes.”
“The reason why he’s currently in a coma is probably related to his memory. Under normal circumstances, as long as he gets through this critical period, he should wake up in a day or two. But if the situation is special, then it may take three days, maybe four or five, and perhaps longer…”
Longer? Hearing this, Han Muzi was a little dazed.
“Mrs. Ye, I know that you’re worried, but in situations like these, there’s really nothing we can do.”
“In other words… there’s a possibility that he… won’t wake up?”
The doctor choked as he replied helplessly, “Don’t be too pessimistic, Mrs. Ye. Look at the bright side. The chances of someone falling into a vegetative state from not waking up is very low. Although Mr. Ye’s head was injured, his recovery progressed well after that. You don’t have to be too worried about this low possibility.”
Low possibility. That means it’s still possible. It was not that Han Muzi was thinking negatively, but she was just worried. Han Muzi bit her lower lip and said, “Thank you, doctor. I understand now.”
“Alright.”
After the doctor left, Han Muzi sat alone on the bench while holding the phone weakly. She hoped Ye Moxuan would wake up after getting through the critical period. It was fine as long as he was safe. If he could wake up this time, Han Muzi would have to control him in the future and stay with him all day. She would not let him suffer more for recovering his previous memories. It would be fine as long as he was safe.
“Muzi?” A hesitant voice sounded. Han Muzi’s floating mind was pulled back, and when she looked up, she saw Song An approaching with Yuchi Jin.
“Aunty, Grandpa.”
Song An saw that Han Muzi’s face was extremely pale, so she went forward to support her. “Let’s sit down and talk about it. Why’s your complexion so bad? Are you feeling uncomfortable?” After asking, Song An remembered that Han Muzi was still pregnant and that the fetus was originally already not in a stable condition. Han Muzi had even run to the hospital, worried and frightened. She would need to make sure Han Muzi took care of herself after this. Although the baby was almost four months old now, they could not afford to let there be any problems.
“There’s no discomfort.”
“I’ll accompany you to do a checkup later. You can’t have any more problems.”
Han Muzi did not refuse and only nodded. When Yuchi Jin came over, he had already acknowledged this granddaughter-in-law of his. After all, he had given Han Muzi a very precious diamond necklace as a gift. Since returning to China, he had been living at the Seabay Villa. They had been seeing each other frequently. Despite their relationship before this being a little tense, after they interacted for some time, they developed a harmonious relationship. Moreover, Little Bean had helped her to get more of Yuchi Jin’s liking.
Therefore, Yuchi Jin was also a little worried when he saw that Han Muzi’s complexion was not looking too good. “Is everything alright? An, you’d better bring her to get checked so that we can rest assured.”
“Tsk. When did you start worrying about your granddaughter-in-law? I thought you only came here for Moxuan.”
Hearing this, Yuchi Jin raised his bearded chin while feeling displeased. “What are you saying? Can’t I show my concern for both of them? By the way, what’s the situation with Moxuan? What did the doctor say?”
Hearing this question, Han Muzi started to feel tired. “The doctor said that he’ll continue to observe his condition. We’ll just have to wait.” In regards to the other things, she had no strength to say them out.
“It’s alright. We aren’t able to do much now, either.” Song An turned her head and looked at Yuchi Jin. “Old man, you should watch over things here while I take Muzi for a check-up.”
Yuchi Jin was used to being called an old man by Song An, and after listening to her words, he had no objections. “Okay, then you should quickly bring her over. Remember to inform me of any updates.”
Song An rolled her eyes before holding Han Muzi’s hand. “Let’s go.”
As the two walked forward, Han Muzi looked at Song An quietly.
“Why are you looking at me?” Song An looked a little confused.
Han Muzi smiled slightly and said, “After you’ve made amends with Grandpa, I feel that you’ve become more lively.”
When Song An heard this, her expression instantly turned awkward. “What do you mean ‘lively’? Do you think I’m happy? The old man pesters me all day. You don’t know how annoying it is. If I had known about this earlier, I wouldn’t have stayed back last time.”
Although these words were awkward and ruthless, Han Muzi could still see a trace of tenderness in her eyes. As Song An had left home with her sister a long time ago, how could she not be hungry for familial affection? If she did not care for familial relations, she would not have been angry for so many years.
“Actually, I still haven’t forgiven him even until now.” Song An suddenly sighed, saying, “I can’t forgive him for what he did back then, but… I know he’s old now and can’t manage the company anymore. I also thought that I would never acknowledge him again. But then I discovered familial affection is engraved in the bones and can’t be erased. Regardless, he’s still the father who loved me and my sister back then. People will make mistakes in their lives, and there will be stupid moments as well. Thinking back, I’ve also made mistakes. I’m not a saint, and neither is he. What right do I have to ask him to do everything as I wish? As such, even though I still hold a grudge over that incident, I can get along with him now. At least… if anything happens in the future, I probably won’t have any regrets.”
Han Muzi understood what she meant. Song An had not forgiven Yuchi Jin for what he did back then, but the same blood as his ran in her veins, which made her yearn for this father-daughter relationship. Furthermore, Yuchi Jin was getting on in years now, so Song An was scared. She was scared that if something happened, she would have regrets.
“Aunty, it’s good to cherish the present.”
Song An could not help rubbing her head. “You also have to cherish the present. Moxuan will definitely be fine. You only need to take care of yourself and the baby in your belly. As for the rest… we have to trust the doctor.”
“Okay.”
The results of the examination showed that Han Muzi’s health was not very good. The fetus’ status was a little turbulent, but there was nothing too serious. She would need to take care of the fetus and was not allowed to go around too much. She would also be fine as long as she did not have too big of a mood swing.
Initially, Song An wanted to drive her back home, but she changed her mind and said, “Why don’t you just stay in the ward here and take care of your pregnancy while waiting for Moxuan to wake up?”
Han Muzi was very grateful that Song An was understanding enough to let her stay and did not force her to go back home. “Thank you, Aunty.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1072
“What are you thanking me for? Little brat, I know you won’t go back with me anyway. Instead of forcing you, I might as well let you stay here in the hospital where you can take care of your pregnancy. Moreover, the environment here isn’t bad. It shouldn’t be a problem for you to nurture your pregnancy here. As for Moxuan’s condition, I’ve already understood it from the doctor. Don’t worry too much.”
Han Muzi was more at peace with Song An and Yuchi Jin around. She even took a nap after lunch. Aunty’s right. I need to believe in the doctor. At the same time, she needed to believe in Ye Moxuan too. He will definitely wake up soon.
After the observation period, Ye Moxuan was transferred to the normal patient ward from the emergency ward. Initially, he was arranged to stay in the same ward as Han Muzi. However, they decided to transfer him into a private ward after taking into account the person who would watch over him at night. The person would be able to rest there as well if they were cold or sleepy.
Han Qing arrived at 8 in the evening and talked a while with his sister. Xiao Su and Yan came over as well. Yan was still cold when she opened the door to the ward. “Muzi, I heard Young Master Ye has passed the critical period, you…” Her words were suddenly muted when she saw the presence of Han Qing in the ward. She then stood at the entrance of the ward in a daze with the door half-open.
A huge hand reached out and pressed against the space near her hand while fully opening the door. He looked down at the little lady who was almost half his size and said in a deep tone, “Let’s talk inside.”
Yan retracted her hand and entered obediently. Xiao Su walked behind her after closing the door. She was wearing a pink coat due to the cold weather and had tied her hair into a bun. Her light-colored but fluffy scarf covered half her face, showing only her delicate eyes and nose. On the other hand, Xiao Su was in a long, black windbreaker. When the two of them came in, they both felt the cool air-conditioning. One of them was tall while the other was short; they looked very good together.
Han Qing had a glint in his eyes that looked like he was eyeing his prey. After a moment, however, that glint disappeared.
“Young Lady Ye,” Xiao Su nodded to Han Muzi as he greeted.
“You guys are here.” Han Muzi smiled while she looked at Yan. “Little Bean’s not here? It seems like he listens to you.”
“Yes, Little Bean is very understanding. After I talked to him, he promised not to come.”
Han Muzi nodded in relief. “Thanks for your hard work, Yan.”
Yan waved and said, “It’s not a big deal.” If it were not for the presence of Han Qing here, Yan would definitely have said, ‘What’s our relationship? What’s so hard about something like that?’ However, she did not say so because Han Qing was here.
There was a strange silence in the ward. After a moment, Han Qing’s cold voice sounded, “Why don’t we let Little Bean stay with me during this period?”
Han Muzi was shocked and looked at Han Qing after hearing this. “Ah? Let Little Bean follow you? But your company—”
“There’s not much going on in the company, and you’re my sister. I should perform my duty as an uncle to take care of your child.” Han Qing stood up after saying that, his handsome face impossible to ignore. “I’ll go fetch him now.”
Han Muzi suddenly did not know how to reply because she saw a sign of seriousness in his eyes—it was as if it was something that he needed to do. Han Qing and Yan were both people that she could trust and thus, she could have peace of mind no matter where Little Bean was.
However, Yan did not feel comfortable after hearing this. He said that Muzi is his sister and Little Bean should be taken care of by his uncle. That means I’m just an outsider and it’s inappropriate for me to take care of Little Bean. I don’t have the right.
Yan’s face turned pale after thinking that he might meant it that way. She lowered her eyes without saying anything and only lifted her head after a long while. “If that’s the case, then just let President Han take care of Little Bean.” Since Little Bean’s uncle had already said so, what else could she say as an outsider?
Han Qing passed by her after she finished her sentence. Yan subconsciously evaded him and let him pass. Unexpectedly, Han Qing stopped near her. “Is it convenient for you to lead the way?”
Yan came back to her senses and looked at Han Qing, realizing that he was looking at her. What does he mean? Does this mean he wants me to lead the way for him? That’s right. If he wants to pick up Little Bean, he needs to go to my house. He definitely needs me to lead the way.
Yan nodded her head dryly. “Sure.”
Xiao Su, who was quiet at the side, looked at Han Qing with his dark eyes. However, he only pursed his lips and did not say anything.
Yan turned over to Han Muzi. “Muzi, I’ll bring him to fetch Little Bean. I’ll be back soon.”
“Sure, be careful along the way.” Although Han Muzi was puzzled with the current situation, she decided not to say too much.
Then, Han Qing left with Yan following behind him. Yan walked slowly as she wanted to distance herself from Han Qing. The distance between them was quite long and Yan was still walking slowly even after seeing his tall and huge back entering the elevator. She took little steps and walked slowly.
The elevator door was about to close when she reached the front of the elevator. Only then did she hurriedly step forward and reach out to block the door. Han Qing, who was in the elevator, reached out his hand as well. Both their hands accidentally touched.
Ding! The elevator door opened again as it was blocked. Yan retracted her hand immediately while looking at Han Qing in daze. “I’m sorry… It wasn’t intentional.” I just… touched Han Qing’s hand. Would he think that I did it on purpose and be even more disgusted by me? Would he think that I’m playing hard-to-get? Yan stood at the same spot, her heart feeling bitter.
Han Qing’s cold voice sounded from inside the elevator, “Not coming in? Do you want to wait for the door to close again?”
Yan recovered her senses and rushed into the elevator. After entering the elevator, she found a corner to hide and closed her eyes in despair. She felt embarrassed. It was all fine before this, so why was she acting stupidly now? Just because she wanted to hide from him, so…
The elevator was quiet inside as there were only the two of them. It was probably because Han Qing’s aura was too strong, so Yan felt that the air she breathed in was full of his masculine aura. Sounds of his clear breathing surrounded her, and it almost suffocated her.
Ding! The elevator door opened and many people came in. One of them was in a wheelchair. The person pushing the wheelchair moved quickly as he was probably afraid that he would not make it inside the lift in time, and almost hit Yan. She wanted to evade, but there was a wall beside her and Han Qing on the other side, so she could only choose to stay on the spot. I’ll just let it hit me… I won’t die from this anyway, she thought.
But in the next second, she felt a heavy tug on her arm and she was dragged into someone’s arms. Thud! Yan’s face hit hard against Han Qing’s chest.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1073
Yan felt a sharp pain across her forehead after the collision, which left her feeling dizzy and unsteady. A strong masculine scent shrouded over her and the elevator was rowdy since there was a large crowd.
However, when Yan snapped back to her senses and realized where she was, the entire place fell into silence. She looked up blankly while gazing at Han Qing, who pulled her into an embrace, and stared at him in disbelief. What is… What is happening?? Does Han Qing… know what he’s doing?
Just when Yan regarded him with suspicion, Han Qing pushed her away coldly. “They almost knocked into you. Why did you not dodge them?”
Yan kept her head bowed after his lecture and she bit her lower lip lightly. Just when she was about to refute him, she heard him speaking coldly to the person who pushed the wheelchair. “You should look where you are going, especially in public even if you are in a rush, do you not agree? Do you think that a casual apology would cut it if you hurt someone else by bumping into them?”
He was a Group President who was used to having a forceful and intimidating aura around him. The whole elevator went silent at his booming voice as a result; others did not want to get involved, so they refused to make a sound.
The person who pushed the wheelchair was a middle-aged woman. She was fashionably dressed whereas the person in the wheelchair looked elderly. They seemed to be father and daughter. She looked at Han Qing and quickly noticed that he had an unmistakable and unique presence, hence she knew that it would be a bad idea to offend him. However, the woman was upset that Han Qing reprimanded her openly in front of such a large crowd. Thus, she retorted scathingly, “Did I knock into you? Besides, you are so young. Is it too much for you to dodge when I walk in? Do you not know how to show respect to your elderly?” She clearly referred to the old man in the wheelchair.
Yan hadn’t expected Han Qing to reprimand the woman and never expected her to refute him either, which caused the atmosphere in the elevator to become tense.
“Are you saying that you can do whatever you want and knock into others freely just because you are pushing an old man in a wheelchair?” Han Qing’s voice was icy-cold.
The temperature in the elevator dropped significantly.
The middle-aged woman did not reply because it was obvious that Han Qing was a powerful figure. The old man in the wheelchair broke the silence slowly. “I am sorry, young lady… My daughter did not intentionally do that. She is in a rush because we are in a hurry to head downstairs. Please accept my apologies on her behalf.” The old man sounded sincere and he was very good-natured.
Yan had never minded the situation to begin with, but the middle-aged woman was horrible. Nevertheless, Yan’s heart melted after the old man apologized to her and she waved her hand to dismiss the matter. “No worries, mister. You did not crash into me anyway, so you do not have to apologize.”
The middle-aged woman commented scathingly, “That is right! This young lady knows very well that I did not crash into her, so what do you, as a grown man, care? You are being calculative and tasteless!”
When Yan heard the woman complaining about Han Qing, she frowned and her anger from the earlier incident immediately burst. “What nonsense are you spouting? I said it is fine for this mister’s sake. This mister here has such a commendable attitude. I don’t understand how he would have a daughter like you. You almost crashed into me, but here you are, acting high and mighty by blaming others. You act as though you are always right!”
The middle-aged woman’s eyes widened in surprise as she never expected Yan’s outburst. “How dare you—”
“How dare I what, exactly? I have never lost an argument before. Do not think that you can bully someone else just because they are younger than you are! Before you call him tasteless, why don’t you reflect upon your behavior? Forget about almost crashing into someone else, you could not even be bothered to apologize! Your behavior disgusts me!”
Everyone in the elevator also never expected the young lady to refute with guns blazing, especially since she hid behind the man’s protective embrace just a second ago. Now, she behaved like an animal reacting after her territory had been invaded. Yan seemed ferocious as she snarled at the middle-aged woman during the argument, as if she was being overly protective of Han Qing.
Yan returned to her smiling self after speaking her mind, looking at the old man to reassure him in a soft voice and a sweet smile, “Mister, I do not mean to scold you. This is unrelated to you as you are a good old man.”
The old man was at a loss for words while he thought to himself, What’s happening? What just happened?
Han Qing also stared at the back of Yan’s head while looking bewildered. She was in a good mood just now. Did she just lose her temper?
Everyone in the elevator observed the ordeal in amusement. It was at that moment that the elevator finally arrived at a designated level and the middle-aged woman couldn’t have a comeback after Yan’s outburst earlier. Hence, she snorted in disdain as she pushed the old man’s wheelchair out of the open elevator doors and stormed out in anger.
Everyone chuckled after witnessing the turn of events. “Young lady, your womanly charms are off the charts.”
“That is true. That woman went overboard just now. She was so careless just because she was pushing an old man in a wheelchair. This type of person deserves a scolding. Otherwise, they would never be aware of their mistakes.”
“Young lady, you did well! Besides, your boyfriend is very handsome!”
Han Qing was tall and handsome whereas Yan was petite and adorable. He had pulled her into his arms earlier while trying to seek justice for her. Hence, outsiders assumed that the two of them were a couple and that they were perfect for each other. That was why everyone automatically assumed that Yan was being protective of her boyfriend.
Yan’s expression changed drastically when the crowd started to tease them. “Well… It’s not what you think. I…” How should I explain this? Yan’s facial features were contorted in concentration to clarify the situation. I just heard that middle-aged woman calling Han Qing tasteless, which is why I was blinded by rage. I’ve never considered the possible consequences, and now…
She stole a glance at Han Qing from the corner of her eyes. Han Qing’s face remained blank as usual—the only difference was that he stared at her blankly with his bottomless, black eyes, which caused Yan to turn away once their gaze met.
She was embarrassed to speak again since there were so many people in the elevator, hence, she had no choice but to keep her head bowed. She couldn’t help but feel as if someone was boring holes at the top of her head, which caused her to overthink again. Did I wash my hair last night? Is my hair in a mess right now? I wonder if there is any dandruff on my head. Do I smell funny?
The elevator finally arrived on the first floor while her thoughts ran wild. Yan followed Han Qing from behind to walk out of the elevator. She maintained a distance from Han Qing like before, but since they stood so close together in the elevator earlier, she could smell Han Qing’s scent around her—it was a crisp and calming scent. She bit her lower lip lightly while replaying the scene in the elevator. It feels… so warm in his arms.
Hang on! Yan shook her head to clear her mind. What am I thinking? How can I let a hug ruin the initial plan that I’ve decided on? No, I can’t let this happen! She followed Han Qing to the car parking lot after clearing her mind. Then, she recalled something important. Little Bean sent him over the last time. In that case, Han Qing should know where my house is. Why would he ask me to show him the way if he knows where my house is?
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1074
Maybe Han Qing isn’t the one who sent Little Bean to my house. In that case, who was it? The more Yan tried to figure it out, the more confused she became.
Thud! The sharp pain on her forehead made Yan snap back to her senses. She realized that she was so engrossed in her own thoughts that she wasn’t aware that Han Qing had stopped in front of her and had walked into him. She covered her forehead as it throbbed in pain while stumbling backward and scowling in pain. I just walked into Han Qing again. Coupled with that incident in the elevator, will Han Qing think that I did it on purpose? She blurted out to avoid any further misunderstanding, “Why on earth did you stop without warning?”
The person in front of her paused, as if he hadn’t expected her to question him so blatantly after knocking into him. He turned around with a cold stare and answered her in an aloof tone, “We are here.”
After Han Qing reminded Yan, she realized that he already arrived at the car driver’s seat. She obviously followed him from behind in a distracted manner without noticing her surroundings. He must have stood there for some time to enter the car after unlocking the door when she knocked into him from behind due to her carelessness. Forget about bumping into him from behind, I can’t believe that I questioned him loudly as to why he stopped suddenly. This is so embarrassing! Oh my goodness, this is embarrassing!
Yan covered her face with her hands. “I’m sorry.” After that, she walked around the car to open the back door.
Han Qing squinted at her when he noticed her opening the door and entering the backseat.
Yan kept her head bowed even after she settled in the backseat of the car. Initially, she was about to sit at the front passenger seat, but something struck her swiftly, so she stopped at the back passenger seat and entered it after opening the car door. If it had been in the past, she would have most probably taken the front passenger seat boldly to seize the chance to be closer to Han Qing. However, she now wanted nothing more than to stay as far as possible from him right now. I’ll just hang in there. Once Han Qing picks Little Bean up, I’d be free. Han Qing would look after Little Bean and I just have to make sure the timings of my hospital visits do not coincide with his. In that case, I won’t have to see him anymore in the future.
It was complete silence throughout the car ride. Yan still kept her head bowed when she heard a voice speak to her from the front suddenly, “Address.”
“Huh?” Yan was still in a daze because Han Qing spoke out of the blue.
He looked at her via the rearview mirror. “How do I pick Little Bean up if you would not tell me the address? Do you think I have the ability to foresee the unknown?”
Yan snapped back to her senses and provided her address. After that, they remained silent throughout the journey and the car was quiet up until their destination.
Yan broke the silence nervously once the car was parked, “Uhm, President Han, please wait here for a while. I will bring Little Bean down.” Then, she opened the car door swiftly before running out of the car.
Han Qing stared quietly at the young lady’s back view until she disappeared out of his sight. Then, he looked away while he slouched in his chair and he closed his eyes. The things I’ve done recently seem to slightly contradict my original intentions. What on earth am I doing?
Little Bean looked bewildered when he heard that Han Qing was there to pick him up, so he sat motionless on the bed. “Why is Uncle Qing suddenly here to take me home?” This is strange. No one has mentioned anything about this. Why is this suddenly happening?
“How could I possibly guess your Uncle Qing’s thoughts? Anyway, he is adamant on picking you up, so my hands are tied. You should start packing,” Yan urged Little Bean. After that, she smacked his little bum when he still sat on the bed. “Quick.”
However, Little Bean clung onto her arm suddenly. “I don’t want to! Aunt Yan, I want to stay here and play with you. I do not want to return home with Uncle Qing.”
Little Bean’s childish actions softened Yan’s heart swiftly. However, she recalled what Han Qing said at the hospital. He asked me how I, as an outsider, could possibly take care of Little Bean. “Please be an obedient boy. Your Uncle Qing wants to personally take care of you. You should fulfill his request.”
Yan obviously did not reveal her true thoughts in front of Little Bean because she knew that it would land herself in an embarrassing and difficult position, hence, she had no choice but to patiently coax Little Bean.
However, Little Bean was stubborn and reluctant to leave. In the end, he clung onto Yan stubbornly. “I don’t want to leave with him! I want to stay with Aunt Yan! Otherwise, I will live with Mommy! Aunt Yan, you are only allowed to choose one out of these two options. In any case, I will never leave with Uncle Qing!”
Uncle Qing broke Aunt Yan’s heart. He is a meanie! He is the same as Daddy! He is a meanie who is only capable of breaking a woman’s heart! Little Bean even thought to himself in silence, When I’m an adult, I will never let the woman I love cry over me! My daddy and Uncle Qing both failed in that aspect! They are bad guys!
Yan never expected Little Bean to be so stubborn, so she was at a loss for words. The moment she reminded herself that Han Qing was waiting for Little Bean downstairs, she whispered gently, “Little Bean, your Uncle Qing did not offend you, so why don’t you want to live with him? He is waiting for you downstairs now. Why don’t we head downstairs together so that you can head home with your Uncle Qing now? Stay with him for a few days and I will pick you up after a couple of days, alright?”
Luo Huimei, who eavesdropped the entire time, lost her patience and barged in. “What is happening? Why the ruckus in the middle of the night? If the child wants to stay here, you should let him stay here. He is just a child and it is not like your Dad and I can’t look after him.”
“Mom, it is not the issue of whether you can look after him or not. It is just that his uncle is waiting for him downstairs.”
“Why does that matter?” Luo Huimei retorted. “If you are shy about it, I will head down to speak with Little Bean’s Uncle Qing. I will tell him that Little Bean is asleep and that he should drop by another day.”
This method sounds promising. Usually, I would most probably have done that. However, right now… Yan bit her lower lip and she seemed torn as she stared at Little Bean.
“It’s decided then. I’m going downstairs now.”
Yan panicked immediately when Luo Huimei mentioned that she was headed downstairs to meet Han Qing, hence, Yan grabbed onto her mother’s hand. “Mom, you shouldn’t go! Don’t go!”
Luo Huimei was stunned to silence because this was the first time that she saw Yan panicking helplessly. Furthermore, when she squinted at Yan, the latter avoided her gaze. It was obvious that her daughter couldn’t meet her eyes.
Luo Huimei realized instantly something was amiss. She initially didn’t think much of whether to go downstairs or not. Come to think of it… it’s best I head down this time. Once she made up her mind, Luo Huimei stated calmly, “Little Bean, since your Uncle Qing insists on taking you home, you should start packing.”
Little Bean immediately looked aggrieved when he heard that, as though he was being bullied.
Luo Huimei was rendered speechless by his reaction. Damn it! He is an exceptionally smart child! “Forget it, forget it.” She waved her hand, clearly giving in to Little Bean. “Stay here since you are clearly unwilling to leave. Yan, you should accompany him and I will go downstairs to speak with his uncle.”
“Mom! You really shouldn’t go. I will talk to him in person.” With that, Yan stood up abruptly and ran out of the house.
Watching Yan dashing out of the house, Luo Huimei did not chase after her and instead approached Little Bean with a smile. “Little Bean, come, I have some questions for you.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1075
Yan ran down the stairs and she was out of breath by the time she arrived at the ground floor, hence, before approaching Han Qing, she found a place to calm herself down. After almost half a minute, she finally felt calmer and her breathing had slowed down before she made her way to Han Qing with small steps.
Han Qing’s car was parked on the ground floor and he turned off the car engine after waiting for quite some time. He still sat at the driver’s seat and the car window was half-lowered. Due to the dim streetlamps, it cast a shadow across the ground and his handsome face was half-covered in the dark.
Yan took in the scene from afar. Han Qing had a controlled and steady temperament, which somehow put people at ease. Yan used to think that in the past, but now… she felt that the man in front of her was a heartless person. No, he has a heart, but he only shows that side of himself to his younger sister. It’s impossible for others to be on the receiving end of that part of him.
Yan made her way to Han Qing while she struggled with herself internally. On the other hand, Han Qing turned and focused on her when he heard some footsteps approaching.
Meeting his gaze sent a chill down her spine yet she had no choice but to approach him anyway. “P-President Han…”
Han Qing scowled while emitting an aura of disdain.
Yan flinched involuntarily. Han Qing must be upset because Little Bean didn’t come downstairs with me. I truly would have liked to take Little Bean down with me, but he’s adamant with his decision. It feels like I’ve become a rather shameless person not to bring Little Bean down. “Well, Little Bean is reluctant to come down… n-no matter how much I-I persuaded him.” The corners of Yan’s lips twitched and she finally suggested, “Why don’t I try convincing him again tomorrow to head home?”
Han Qing did not answer her. Instead, he stared at her unblinkingly. As his eyes were black and bottomless, it was impossible for Yan to guess what was in his mind. After a while, Han Qing pressed his lips together before asking, “Will he be at your shop during the day?”
Yan nodded blankly.
“Got it.”
After that, Han Qing prepared to leave, but her phone rang at that moment. Hence, she took her phone out to check who it was and was slightly confused when she saw that the caller was Xiao Su. She wanted to answer the call, but Han Qing was still here. Yan quickly glanced at him and noticed that he didn’t seem ready to leave anytime soon.
Xiao Su is in the hospital now. Could it be an emergency since he’s calling me now?
In the end, Yan answered the phone call anyway. “Hello?” She sounded tentative, which was most probably due to Han Qing’s presence.
“Are you home?” Xiao Su’s voice greeted from the other end of the line.
Yan nodded reflexively. “Mm-hmm, I have arrived.”
“How are you planning to come to the hospital later?” Xiao Su asked Yan directly.
Yan paused for a while before answering him, “I will most probably grab a cab.” After all, I haven’t bought a car and the only option to go to the hospital is by grabbing a cab since it’s already late at night. Besides, it’s convenient to get a cab these days anyway.
“You’re a woman. So, it is not safe to grab a cab at night. Send me your address and I will pick you up.”
Yan was at a loss for words. The surroundings were quiet since it was nighttime. Despite the phone call not being on loudspeaker mode, Han Qing heard Xiao Su’s voice loud and clear, which caused his gaze to immediately turn icy-cold.
Yan’s lips twitched awkwardly. “Well, I don’t think that is necessary since you are now at the hospital. It would be troublesome to drive back and forth. I will grab a cab there.”
“It will be quick. Just send over your address.”
After hanging up on the call, Yan noticed that Han Qing had yet to leave. I’m guessing he is still hung up on the incident regarding Little Bean, but he told me that he got it just now. That is why I thought he’d drive off straight away. I didn’t expect him to still stick around. She had no idea what was his mind, but she no longer wanted to prolong the conversation. Thus, she turned around to leave immediately.
Nevertheless, Han Qing broke the silence unexpectedly, “Are you going back to the hospital to accompany Muzi?”
Yan stopped dead in her tracks when she heard that, but she later nodded in response.
“Hop in,” Han Qing instructed.
Yan was stunned to silence because she thought that she heard him wrongly. Did he ask me to hop into the car? Is he offering to send me back? “Sorry?” she asked in confusion.
Han Qing answered with a blank expression, “Did you not say that you wanted to go to the hospital? I am dropping by the hospital to sort out some matters, so it will be on the way.”
Alright, since it’s on the way. Yan thought to herself, Figures. Otherwise, why would Han Qing specifically send me all the way back to the hospital? He wants nothing more than to be as far from me as possible. In the end, she entered the car and later phoned Luo Huimei, requesting Luo Huimei to put Little Bean to bed and that she herself would return from the hospital the next day. Luo Huimei agreed to it, but she asked before hanging up, “Are you in Little Bean’s uncle’s car now?”
Yan stole a glance at Han Qing, who was driving the car in front. Then, she covered the phone and her mouth while mumbling in acknowledgment to prevent Han Qing from hearing her. Nevertheless, she soon realized that it was all in vain because the car was quiet, so Luo Huimei’s voice rang clear within the confined space.
After that, Yan figured a way, which was to lower the window swiftly. Gusts of ruthless cold air billowed into the car and Yan’s long black hair was suddenly blown into a mess. Due to the cold from the wind, Yan felt as if her face was slashed by knives.
“Damn it, Yan!” Luo Huimei shouted. “What are you doing? Why is the sound of the wind so loud?”
Yan took the chance and answered, “Mom, it is inconvenient to speak now. I will talk to you tomorrow. Goodbye!” Yan hung up on the phone swiftly after finishing her words and she kept her phone in her bag. She did not dare to wind up the window since she had just lowered it a moment ago, so gusts of chilly wind continued to billow in.
Han Qing asked with a scowl, “Are you not cold?”
Yan shivered in silence. How is it possibly not cold? I’m freezing to death here. However, she had no choice but to shake her head. “I am feeling a bit warm.”
Han Qing was rendered speechless by her reaction while checking on her through the rearview mirror. He suddenly recalled what had previously happened when they were abroad. It had been freezing outside, but Yan was inadequately dressed. After that, she had followed him out into the cold weather and almost froze to death. In the end, she even ran a temperature.
Initially, Han Qing never wanted to expose Yan since she had acted stubbornly. However, he considered the possibility that she might fall under the weather and he vividly remembered how much she suffered when she was ill. Hence, he closed the window once he recalled how things would end.
Originally, Yan was ready to brace herself even if it meant freezing in the cold. In fact, she was ready to endure the cold for another three minutes before she closed the window. After that, there was a possibility of her feigning ignorance that she felt much better after enjoying the breeze. I didn’t expect Han Qing to close the window. She asked adamantly in order to keep up with her act, “Why did you close the window? I haven’t had enough of the breeze.”
Han Qing was at a loss for words at her reaction. It looks like she’d rather keep up appearances at her own cost.
Coincidentally, the traffic lights turned red in front. Thus, he stopped the car before turning around to face her. “I’m feeling cold.”
Yan did not have a comeback for that. Alright, this reason is good enough for me. Otherwise, I wasn’t sure if I should lower the window again. Nevertheless, since that’s his explanation, I should just go along with it. “I’m so sorry. I did not think about how you might feel. In that case, I would not lower the window again.”
“Okay.”
Yan was unsure whether it was her mind playing tricks on her or not, but she felt that their tensed relationship relaxed significantly after that. She lowered her eyes and felt a bittersweet sensation in her heart. Han Qing isn’t as guarded as he was before whenever he interacts with me now. Is it because I’ve finally let go and stopped pestering him?
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1076
In all honesty, this feels alright. Let’s keep it this way. I will bury my feelings for him deep down in my heart, and I will suppress it to make sure that it will never see the light of day.
The phone rang again and Yan realized that it was a text message from Xiao Su. ‘I am out of the hospital now. Where are you?’
Yan’s expression changed slightly because she forgot about his earlier instructions since she had been in a state of panic, hence, she answered his message hastily. ‘I’m already on my way to the hospital. You don’t have to come all the way to pick me up. Thank you!’
Xiao Su felt an inexplicable bitterness at the tip of his tongue when he received the message. Is she not even giving me the chance to prove myself? Even if that’s true, I’m still worried about her safety. Thus, Xiao Su replied to her message. ‘Send me the car number plate. Be careful.’
Car number plate? Yan scowled when she read his message. Xiao Su must have assumed that I am either in a private car or a cab. That must be the reason why he’s asking for a car number plate. She answered his text directly. ‘That’s not necessary. I’m in President Han’s car. He is heading back to the hospital to see Muzi.’
Xiao Su read the message several times suspiciously as if he tried to confirm something. After a moment, he chuckled to himself while staring at his phone. I see.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Yan saw a familiar figure standing nearby the moment she exited the car. Initially, she thought that she was mistaken, but she realized soon enough that it was Xiao Su indeed. Is it really him? I remember him saying that he was out of the hospital earlier in his message just now. I figured he must have gone inside after that. I didn’t expect him to be still downstairs.
Xiao Su flashed Yan a tender smile when he saw her. Under the warm light, his horrible scar across his face softened significantly. “You’re here.”
Upon seeing Xiao Su, Yan was unsure how she felt because she had a mixture of emotions. She nodded at him. “Why didn’t you go in?”
“Why would I go back in? Did you not say you were coming over? I’m just waiting for you here while I am at it.” If someone else is conveniently driving her back to the hospital, why shouldn’t I wait for her here while I’m at it?
Yan was rendered speechless by his reaction. She blushed slightly when she heard Xiao Su’s blatant statement. Her ears were now in the color of deep red. If memory serves me right, I recall telling him before that I’ve yet to come to terms with my feelings. Hence, I told him not to bother me first. However, right now, he is… Did he assume that I’ve come to terms with my feelings? In all honesty, my mood has calmed down significantly for quite some time, but it is in a state of mess once again after seeing Han Qing.
“President Han.” Just when Yan was deep in her thoughts, Xiao Su greeted Han Qing, who was behind her, before smiling. “Young Lady Ye is waiting for you upstairs.”
Han Qing glanced swiftly at him before mumbling in acknowledgement and made his way upstairs.
As Han Qing left, Yan’s gaze automatically followed his disappearing figure, but Xiao Su approached her from the front to block her view of Han Qing suddenly. “Are you cold? Are you hungry? Since the two siblings have things to discuss, why don’t I take you out for some food?”
Despite his inquiry, Yan felt as if he had decided for her. Nevertheless, she knew that he wouldn’t be able to force her to go with him if she were to reject him. However, Yan wasn’t an ignorant person. As an outsider, why would I want to interrupt when both siblings are chatting with each other? Hence, she nodded. “Sure, I think I’m slightly hungry.”
Apart from the residential area around the hospital, there were mostly large pharmacies around—one after another and occasionally, there were a few clothing stores. There were also quite a number of restaurants since the hospital received quite a large number of visitors. The two of them entered once of the eateries nearby.
Yan did not have an appetite at all, but she was only here because she didn’t intend to head into the hospital immediately. She and Xiao Su each ordered a bowl of noodles before sitting across each other. Xiao Su must be famished because he took a large gulp of soup once he sat down and focused on eating his noodles after that. His serious attitude made Yan self-conscious if she did not eat her food. Thus, she had a few spoonfuls of soup before tackling the noodles slowly.
The restaurant owner was an honest man. There were less customers in the restaurant—most probably since it was getting late at night. Hence, there were extra pieces of meat in their bowls of noodles.
Would I be able to sleep if I were to finish all this? Yan ate her bowl of noodle soup in silence.
“Is it not to your liking?” Xiao Su asked while staring at her almost untouched bowl of food.
Yan snapped back to her senses when she heard that before shaking her head. “N-No. It suddenly struck me that I might not be able to fall asleep tonight if I were to eat too much right now. That is why I’m just having some soup.”
Xiao Su did not have a comeback for that, so he merely responded with a faint smile and did not comment further. In all honesty, he wanted to express his mind, but he wasn’t quite sure on what to say because he was afraid that Yan would find him annoying if he said too much.
When they were almost done with their meal, Yan finally put her spoon down whereas Xiao Su rose to his full height to pick up the tab at the counter. Yan chased after him when she saw that. “Let me.”
However, Xiao Su paid the bill swiftly and urged her to leave the restaurant together. She was astounded, but she followed suit, suggesting, “Why don’t we go Dutch?”
Xiao Su stopped dead in his tracks when he heard that. Then, he turned to look at her helplessly. “It is just a bowl of noodles. You do not have to feel pressured at all.”
Yan was at a loss for words because Xiao Su read her mind.
“I might be in love with you, but you couldn’t have assumed that I was trying to treat you to noodles on purpose, could you? I was just afraid that I might be hungry and I did not want to eat alone. That’s why I asked you to come along.”
Is that so? Yan blinked several times.
“That’s why you don’t have to feel pressured at all. I still remember what you told me, so don’t worry.”
Yan wasn’t sure what got into her, but she felt relieved after Xiao Su’s explanation. I know that Xiao Su is in love with me, of course. In fact, he has been in love with me for a very long time. I know the heartache accompanying unrequited love since I’ve experienced it before. That’s why I don’t want to hurt him. However, I can’t give him anything in return as well and that’s the reason why I’m feeling conflicted.
The two of them made their way back to the hospital’s main building. They waited for the elevator in silence and the only thing that was heard was their breathing.
”Xiao Su?” Yan called his name suddenly.
Xiao Su turned his face sideways to look at her. “Yes?”
“You… should not waste your time and effort on me. It is not worth it.” Yan looked up and their eyes met. She chose an indirect way to reject him. “You know my heart belongs to someone else, so you would just be wasting your time on me. I have known you for so many years and I know the kind of person you are. You are outstanding, and I am sure you would find a—”
Before she could complete her sentence, Xiao Su interrupted, “Yan, you think that… I am outstanding. Why don’t you give it a go with me since you think I am outstanding?”
Yan’s breath caught in her throat. I just wanted to reject him indirectly. I didn’t expect him to back me into a corner.
Xiao Su took a few steps forward to close the gap between him and Yan. His presence was now palpable. “Maybe we should give ourselves a chance. We might be a match made in heaven.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1077
Yan was at a loss for words when she heard Xiao Su.
Xiao Su forced Yan backward with each step within the confined space until her back was pressed against the stone-cold wall and she had nowhere to escape to. She couldn’t help but reach out to stop Xiao Su from advancing closer. “S-Stop coming closer.”
Her soft hand pressed against his soft chest. He looked down at her fair and delicate small hands, feeling as though she tugged at his heartstrings. He immediately felt butterflies in his stomach as his heart skipped a beat. As he faced the young, adorable and charming woman in front of him, if it weren’t for his rationality, he would’ve lowered his head and… He closed his eyes when that thought flashed through his mind as he tried his best to control his wild imagination.
“I just wanted to tell you that I would not force but similarly, you cannot control my thoughts either. I was being serious when I confessed my feelings for you. I am also sincere when I say that I want to be with you. However, all that requires you to give me a chance.”
Yan never expected Xiao Su to be so bold to take the initiative. Furthermore, he was extremely close to her and she couldn’t possibly escape. She stared blankly at Xiao Su, who was mere inches apart from her. “Well…”
“That’s why you should not push me away now, even if you do not want to give me a chance temporarily. Can you do that for me?” Xiao Su kept his head bowed, obviously putting himself in a vulnerable position to ask her this question.
Yan was shocked when she heard that. Is he begging me? How did this happen? I just don’t want Xiao Su to waste his time on me. After all, when you only have eyes for a specific person, you’d miss the opportunities and people around you. Nevertheless, I didn’t expect Xiao Su to be so—
Ding! Just when Yan struggled to think of a reply, the elevator doors opened. She acted as though she was literally saved by the bell and shoved against Xiao Su violently before running out of the elevator. However, when she exited the elevator, she was astounded because she saw Han Qing.
He waited with a blank expression on the other side of the elevator doors, which led to her expression changing drastically. Did Han Qing see what happened just now?
Panic bubbled in Yan’s chest as her lips quivered. She looked as if she was about to say something, but her lips couldn’t form the words. Just when she struggled internally, Han Qing strode into the elevator with a cold and aloof expression. He… doesn’t care at all.
What am I doing trying to flatter myself? Yan marched out swiftly without hesitating. So what if he saw that? He doesn’t care after all. Forget that nothing happened between Xiao Su and I, I’m quite sure that his face would still be stoic even if I were to embrace Xiao Su.
Yan returned to the hospital room and saw Han Muzi sitting inside. Han Muzi greeted Yan with a smile once Yan entered the room, “Yan, you’re here.”
Yan was rather upset about her encounter, but she didn’t want others to know about it, especially Han Muzi. Thus, she forced a smile. “Yup. How are you? I heard from Xiao Su that Aunty Song brought you to see a doctor. Did recent events caused the baby to—”
“No.” Han Muzi shook her head. “It was just an examination for our peace of mind. The baby is fine. You shouldn’t worry.”
“That is great.” Yan let out a sigh of relief before approaching Han Muzi.
“Little Bean is not around tonight. I will sleep on the same bed as you.”
Han Muzi paused, recalling that they hadn’t shared the same bed for a very long time. Previously, before I gave birth to Little Bean, I always shared a bed with Yan. Sometimes, we would chat long into the night and it felt as if there were always a constant stream of topics to chat about. “Sure.”
It had been so many years and Han Muzi missed that feeling. Hence, the two of them removed their jackets and squeezed into a bed. They felt especially warm huddled together since it was now winter, keeping each other warm under the quilt.
However, as Han Muzi was pregnant, Yan was cautious with her movements and didn’t dare to scoot too close since she was afraid of hurting Han Muzi. Soon, the temperature under the quilt increased significantly.
Yan sighed audibly. “I recall that we would share a bed just like this when I went abroad all those years ago. At that time, you were in the early stages of pregnancy too.”
When Han Muzi reminisced about the past, images and scenes from several years ago flashed across her mind. At that time, I went abroad after leaving Ye Moxuan and didn’t expect Yan to come along with me. I’ve been living with her ever since. She has consoled me countless times whenever I was jolted awake from nightmares in the middle of the night. That’s how we’ve forged such a strong friendship. Our friendship has survived the test of time. “That is right. You were especially worried that you might hurt the baby, so you were super careful when you slept.”
Yan pouted. “That is true! My mom mentioned that as a child, I have never been able to stay still whenever I am asleep. I often wake up on the other side of the bed with my head at the end of my bed. However, I am unsure whether I was mentally aware or stressed at that time because I somehow managed to sleep in a single position whenever I share a bed with you.”
Han Muzi looked at her and softly chuckled. “It must have been a torture for you.”
“No! No, it’s not!” Yan scooted closer to Han Muzi before whispering, “I do not feel tortured to have found such a close friend like you.” Friendship, love and family affection are important elements in a human’s life. I don’t feel wronged at all to experience some pain and torture for the sake of my friend. Now that I recall our memories, it feels perfect and I truly cherish those moments. After all, those days never lasted because Muzi’s belly increased in size with time. I didn’t dare to move aggressively, so I was especially careful whenever I got into bed at night. I’d always sneak to the bathroom stealthily at night to avoid waking her up. Nevertheless, I neglected something—and that’s the fact that Muzi was a pregnant woman at that time. She was always lethargic. Come to think of it, I always play music at night, but somehow, Muzi slept through it soundly.
Yan giggled when she recalled that.
“What are you laughing about?”
Hence, Yan voiced out her thoughts to Han Muzi, who burst out laughing when she heard that. “To be honest, I am not quite sure how I slept so much at that time. It is the same now. These two children really love to sleep,” she added.
“Could this be a boy too?”
A boy? Han Muzi blinked several times and she wasn’t quite sure how she felt about it. I am slightly greedy if I’m being honest because I hope that this will be a girl. In that case, I’ll have a son and a daughter. Nevertheless, I don’t mind even if it’s a boy. Be it a boy or girl, the child would still belong to Ye Moxuan and me. Upon arriving at that conclusion, she gently caressed her belly—now being four months pregnant, her baby bump was obvious. She commented with a faint smile, “I am not sure. Anyway, I don’t mind if it is a boy or a girl. I’m blessed as long as I give birth to a healthy child. If it’s a girl, I’m sure Little Bean would spoil her. If it’s a boy, Little Bean would have someone to fight by his side in the future.”
Yan mumbled in a soft voice, “In all honesty, I think girls are much better. Girls are so tender and caring! Besides, you would have both a son and a daughter! Muzi, if it is a boy this time, maybe you could… try for another one? Aim for a daughter and she would have two older brothers to pamper her.”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1078
Han Muzi didn’t know whether she should cry or laugh at her words. “How can I deliver that many children?”
“Why should you not?” Yan got closer to her. Even though they were the only two people in the room, they still lowered their voices because they were afraid of being heard by anyone. “Young Master is good at what he does, so you can deliver as many as you like.”
Han Muzi shook her head. “No, two are enough. I cannot handle more of them.”
“Oh, that is good. If I were you, I would give birth to many sons before having a daughter so that the big brothers can take care of her. This way, she will be the only little princess of the house.”
“Then you should work hard and get married sooner. You can achieve your wish then.”
Suddenly, it was silent in the dark as if the atmosphere had become weighted.
Han Muzi still smiled until she noticed that something was wrong in the atmosphere, so she quickly reacted to the words she said. She opened her lips slightly and glanced at Yan’s direction before struggling to make a sound. “I am sorry—”
Hearing her apology, Yan quickly reacted and interrupted Han Muzi, “Why are you saying sorry? I think that you’re right. Since this is my wish, I need to work hard to achieve it. I must get married and give birth to children earlier so that I can have both sons and daughters. Then, I can live the rest of my life happily.”
Even though Yan sounded cheerful as she said those words without a slight trace of frustration, Han Muzi’s heart still felt upset upon hearing it. How could Han Muzi not notice that Yan had forced a smile in front of her? The person whom she likes has a very close connection to me. In short, seeing me on a daily basis is a torture for her yet she still accompanies me every day. Thinking about it, Han Muzi reached out and searched for Yan in the dark. Then, she patted Yan’s back. “Come on, Yan. You will definitely find someone who loves you a lot in the future. After that, you will have a handful of sons and a daughter. You will certainly live a happy life.”
Han Muzi’s voice was filled with sincerity. It should have been the life that Yan deserved, but her heart was still upset. Yan really desired to have a handful of sons and a daughter, so that the big brothers could pamper their little sister. Yet, there was a point that Han Muzi didn’t make—which was the man who helped Yan to deliver children had to be the same man she loved.
“You’re right.” In the dark, Yan made some nasal sounds, so Han Muzi quickly guessed that she cried and did not know how to comfort her. Instead, Han Muzi only gently patted Yan’s back. The two of them nestled together with heavy hearts. However, they were unable to overcome their lethargy in the end, so they gradually fell asleep.
Ye Moxuan still hadn’t regained his consciousness on the second day. The doctor explained that this situation could happen, therefore, he urged everyone to be more patient while waiting. Although Han Muzi was a bit worried in her heart, she continued to comfort herself, After all, this is just the start. Maybe Moxuan will wake up tomorrow.
However, another day had passed and Ye Moxuan still lay on the bed without showing any signs of regaining consciousness. Han Muzi took a towel and wiped his body herself while being careful with her movements out of the fear that she would hurt him.
Song An couldn’t help but spit at him after watching the scene from aside, “What is Ye Moxuan doing? Does he not know that his wife and kids are waiting for him? Is he trying to worry everyone to death by being unconscious for so many days?”
Han Muzi stopped her movements and let out a small smile. “Maybe he was too tired before, so he wanted to take this chance to have a rest. When he is done resting, he will wake up naturally.”
Song An was rendered speechless by Han Muzi’s words.
Too tired? So he took this chance to have a rest? Song An really wanted to tell Han Muzi to stop hurting herself. She would have given the little brat, Ye Moxuan, a few slaps before scolding him if Han Muzi wasn’t here. You little brat. You’ve wronged her so many times and you won’t wake up now. How much suffering do you want her to endure before you are satisfied? However, I wonder how many blessings he has received in his past lives for Han Muzi to treat him like this. Song An only muttered these words under her breath as she was afraid of distressing Han Muzi. After all, Han Muzi was still a pregnant woman.
Let’s hope that this little brat will wake up soon and regain all of his memories so that nothing bad ever happens again. Oh, God, I, Song An, have never pleaded with you for anything before. Even when my sister met with an accident, I only realized it later on. Now, I’m begging for your mercy so that you can stop tormenting these two loving souls. Song An closed her eyes and prayed for a while before reopening her eyes. Then, she sighed when she saw Han Muzi by Ye Moxuan’s side, taking care of him seriously.
Han Muzi wiped Ye Moxuan’s body daily by herself. Even though Song An had suggested hiring a care worker for him, Han Muzi rejected the idea because she wanted to do it herself instead of letting others do it.
One day later, two days later, three days later… A week had since passed and Ye Moxuan was still lying there.
The doctor also frowned his eyebrows when he came to have a look, but he still gave his support and encouragement to Ye Moxuan’s family members. “It is understandable for the patient to have these kinds of symptoms, so everyone must believe in him. Maybe he is now struggling to wake up as we speak. You should have someone close to him to speak with him. If he can hear that person’s voice, maybe it will strengthen his will to wake up.”
Since then, Han Muzi always stayed by Ye Moxuan’s side—except when she ate and slept. She talked to him whenever she took a break from wiping his body and, sometimes, even fell asleep next to him while holding on to his hand.
Song An felt distressed when she saw Han Muzi in this situation. Then, Song An couldn’t help but moan to Yuchi Jin beside her, “Can you see it now? Where would you be able to get another granddaughter-in-law like her? You always wanted to tear them apart from the start!”
After being called out like that, Yuchi Jin rubbed his nose while feeling awkward. Initially, he never expected Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan’s affections for each other to be rock solid. As Yuchi Jin slowly accepted Han Muzi, he realized the good in his granddaughter-in-law. Along with the way she presented herself, his favorable impression toward her skyrocketed. Now, not only did he stop tearing them apart, he even disagreed with anyone else who tried to separate the couple. Sadly, his grandson still remained unconscious. He thought about it and said to his daughter, Song An, “If Moxuan remains like this, why don’t… we pray at the temple?”
Song An rolled her eyes after she listened to him. “I must say, old man, you are a well-known entrepreneur, for crying out loud. Can you not be this superstitious? How can a prayer help him to wake up?”
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1079
Facing his daughter’s scorn, Yuchi Jin only kept his mouth shut. He was helpless in this situation even though he was a well-known entrepreneur.
No matter how experienced the doctor was, he only said that it depended on how strong the patient’s will was when he encountered Ye Moxuan’s condition. If he wants to wake up, he would be awake by now. I have summoned all of the good doctors. What else can I do? Yuchi Jin couldn’t think of other methods except praying.
Even after ridiculing him, Song An never took his words to heart. Later on, she met up with Han Muzi and joked about Yuchi Jin’s suggestion. Surprisingly, Han Muzi agreed to it with a serious face after listening to Song An.
Song An suddenly froze. What the hell? She felt that the old man was an elderly person, so it was normal for him to be a bit superstitious, but the modern world usually never believed in such things. Why would Muzi? As she thought about it, she couldn’t help but ask, “Muzi, you are born in this modern society, so why did you agree with that old man?”
Listening to her, Han Muzi giggled and explained, “Aunty, this is not a superstition. I am just asking for peace of mind.” She had never thought about this before, but since Ye Moxuan’s grandfather had mentioned it, it wouldn’t hurt to give his suggestion a try. Although she wasn’t a superstitious person either, she still had a profound respect for Gods.
“Asking for peace of mind?” Song An accepted the explanation as she rubbed her chin to think for a while. Then, she opened her mouth to speak, “Fine. I heard that the one at Lingyun Mountain across the city is quite successful. Why don’t we take a visit?”
“Across the city?” Won’t that take a lot of time?
Song An roughly calculated the time that they needed. “We may need two days to return. Are you alright with leaving him here?”
Han Muzi shot a glance at the unconscious Ye Moxuan and to be honest, she was definitely reluctant to leave him here, but…
“Alright. I’m his aunt, so I will stay here for two days to look after him by myself. You can just head off to Lingyun Mountain for these two days to offer your prayers. I actually do not believe in all these, but since you have decided to go, then do not waste any time. Remember to be sincere.”
Song An promised to stay and personally take care of Ye Moxuan. Han Muzi didn’t stop her and she told Yan, who responded that she had her own prayers to offer too. Therefore, Yan decided to go together with Han Muzi. Naturally, Xiao Su was worried to let them travel alone, hence he requested to tag along.
Initially, Yan didn’t want to agree to him, but she considered the fact that it wasn’t safe for two girls to travel alone. Not only that, Han Muzi was a pregnant woman, so if something happened to her, Yan wouldn’t be able to handle everything by herself. With Xiao Su around, at least they would be able to take care of each other if there was an accident. After carefully considering it, Yan agreed.
Before she left, Han Muzi returned to the hospital to have a look at Ye Moxuan. She sat beside him and said a lot to him. Seeing the need for privacy and to provide them with personal space, Song An and Yuchi Jin exited the ward.
Song An waited for a long time, but it was Yan who urged her even before Han Muzi came out, “Aunty Song, can you please check if Muzi is done? We really have to go now.”
“I will have a look.” Song An rose to her full height and went to the front of the ward. Through the glass, she saw that Han Muzi leaned over to kiss Ye Moxuan on the lips. Song An immediately made a sound and turned around. “She is almost done. Just wait for a while.” I must say that Muzi really loves this little brat with all of her heart.
Xiao Su and Yan exchanged glances as they had no idea what Song An saw inside before deciding to wait for a while. Sure enough, the door to the ward opened less than a minute later and Han Muzi came out. “I’m sorry to keep you all waiting for so long. We can leave now. Aunty, Grandfather, thank you for these two days.”
Yuchi Jin rubbed his old face while waving toward her. “Take care of yourself. You must always remind yourself that you are a pregnant woman. Try not to injure yourself.”
Song An sneered, “You old man, are you more concerned for your granddaughter-in-law or the baby in her belly?”
Song An’s words caused Yuchi Jin to flush as he let out a few coughs. “An, what nonsense are you talking about? Am I not allowed to be concerned about my granddaughter-in-law and my great-grandchild? Try listening to yourself… Muzi, be careful, alright?”
Song An rolled her eyes and stopped ridiculing him while standing aside. After that, Yan, Xiao Su and Han Muzi went on their journey.
On the way to the neighboring city, Yan felt a bit of excitement growing inside her but she felt that it was impossible. After all, she hadn’t seen that man for days now and she didn’t know where he had gone lately. Is he busy with work in his company? Since that night, she no longer saw Han Qing. However, he visited the hospital—it was just that their paths at the hospital never crossed. As Yan thought about it, she scorned herself in her heart. What is it? Isn’t this what you wanted? You’ve thought about avoiding him before, so what are you sad for?
Thinking about it, Yan simply wore a face mask and a pair of glasses. Han Muzi saw her from beside and she couldn’t help but ask, “What is it?”
Yan answered her without any energy, “Nothing. I just want to sleep, but if I do not wear these, you all will notice the way I sleep, which will be too embarrassing.” That wasn’t the reason actually. She was not in a good mood and she was afraid of showing it to Han Muzi and Xiao Su since it would be embarrassing.
Seeing that Yan wanted to sleep, Xiao Su reminded her, “We still need to wait for another two hours to arrive at the neighboring city. You can sleep now. I will wake you up later.”
“Alright. Thanks.”
Han Muzi thought of her big brother as she watched Xiao Su and Yan interact with each other. If he is interested in Yan, then he should be the one accompanying us to the neighboring city today. Something feels wrong here. At that moment, Han Muzi realized that she never informed Han Qing about their trip. As the thought came to mind, she took out her phone to text him.
For convenience’s sake, they decided to travel at night. If she were to message him now, he would probably only be able to read it the next morning. Not only that, he had been as busy as a bee lately with the company. Nevertheless, she still informed him in the end and kept her phone away without giving it much thought.
After sleeping for a while, Yan suddenly turned toward Han Muzi while holding a face mask. “Do you want one?”
Han Muzi received it. “Thank you.” She also felt that it was a bit embarrassing to doze off, so she wore a face mask in the end. After that, the two of them slouched in their seats and slept together.
Xiao Su was the one who drove the car. Other than him, their personal driver was also there. It was a neighboring city, therefore it was faster for them to travel by car. Initially, Han Muzi had considered dragging Yan to the airport with her if they hadn’t planned on traveling by car.
Xiao Su shot a glance at the rear mirror before realizing that Young Lady Ye and Yan had fallen asleep. Then, he quietly raised the temperature of the car.
Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1080
On the next day, when Han Qing woke up, he received Han Muzi’s text and read it, which startled him. He then calmed himself down and replied to her, ‘Be careful. Call me if anything happens.’
Then, he kept away his phone and casually showered before having breakfast and leaving for work. His life had always been regular in this way and it never changed all these years. Other than that, there wasn’t any woman who showed up beside him to turn this life of his upside down. Minus the years that he spent searching for his sister, he always flew around the world from time to time, but it was his personal time that he consumed. When it was time for work, he never allowed himself to rest.
On the other side, Han Muzi and the others had arrived in the neighboring city. They traveled overnight, so they checked into a hotel that night. Then, everyone had a good rest before they visited Lingyun Mountain Temple.
Han Muzi and Yan had slept for two hours in the car and their poor sleeping condition caused their backs to ache. Therefore, when they got to their beds, they immediately lay down on it at the same time. On the second day, everyone slept until 10am before waking up to meet.
When they had their meal, Xiao Su explained, “I have already asked about the place. Lingyun Mountain is said to be effective, so lots of followers in the country would visit here. I have also heard that a lot of people returned to fulfill their vows after their dreams have been achieved.”
It seemed that Yan believed him. “Fulfill their vows? Does that mean they specially returned after their wishes were granted?”
Xiao Su nodded. “Yes, it is true.”
Yan widened her eyes in shock. “Really? I thought that… everyone visited for peace of mind.”
Xiao Su let out a faint smile. Actually, who is to say whether this is true or not? After wishing for something, one might work even harder because of their desire to achieve it. After all, in this world, you can’t reap the rewards without sowing. It will still be hard to ask for something out of nothing.
He said nothing else, but Yan became excited inside. If it is really this effective, then will my… dreams become a reality? Thinking about it, Yan quickly lowered her head and ate.
“Young Lady Ye, once we are done with our meals, we will call a cab at the hotel entrance. I heard that they have built a road at Lingyun Mountain so that people can drive their cars halfway up to the mountain. However, some pilgrims have said that walking up the mountain from the first step to the last shows your sincerity and it increases the chance of your wish being granted.”
Without waiting for Han Muzi’s reply, Yan immediately raised her head and answered, “Then we shall start from the first step!”
Xiao Su remained silent before shooting Yan a look and reminded her, “Young Lady Ye is still a pregnant woman.”
Upon hearing his words, Yan lowered her face. “Oh, right. If we start from the first step, Muzi’s body may not be able to handle it. I’m sorry, Muzi. I didn’t think of that.”
However, Han Muzi took Xiao Su’s words to heart as she looked outside the window. No matter what the outcome is, something like sending a prayer should be done with sincerity, so we should be respectful about it. Even though it’s fine not to be superstitious about it, we still need to understand the principles about following the custom. It’s like blending into the village’s unique culture and custom when visiting them. If we forcefully break their culture or disrespect it, it may incite their resentment and it is the same for a matter like sending a prayer. The most important part is our own sincerity. If we visited with a lazy and disdainful attitude, then what’s the point of coming?
Upon pondering over it, Han Muzi replied, “We will go up the mountain from the first step.”
“Huh?” Yan was a bit confused. “Did you just say…”
“Yes. Since we came with our own intentions, then we should express our sincerity. Besides, there are not many steps, so it will be fine for me to walk up.”
“But—”
“I have made up my mind. I’m fine with it, so you don’t need to worry about me. If there is really a problem, I’ll immediately inform you about it.”
“Alright. If you feel any discomfort later, we must stop and rest.”
“Sure.”
After the three of them had their meals, they headed straight to Lingyun Mountain. As soon as they arrived at their destination, they realized that a lot of people came to send their prayers too—even tourists from abroad were here.
Yan couldn’t help but ask, “Do you think those foreigners speak English when they offer their prayers? If they speak in English, do you think our Gods can understand them?”
Han Muzi was rendered speechless at first, but she replied to Yan, “Um, maybe they are fluent in Chinese too? Let us head there.” She didn’t have the energy to notice what everyone else did, so she took the first step forward.
On the surface, Lingyun Mountain was surrounded by lush green trees, so it didn’t look like some kind of tourist attraction from below. It was said that the mountain was a spiritual one during the ancient times. The mountain was steep and dangerous, so it was hard to climb to the top because an accidental slip might easily cause a person to fall into the deep abyss.
Later, as the generations grew, lots of stone steps were built on the mountain and it took a long time to complete the project. After that, the temple on the mountain was even renovated and became even more popular due to it being effective. That was why many people from other places visited here later on. After that, lots of vendors saw the commercial side of it and opened incense shops and beverage stores halfway up the mountain for the pilgrims’ convenience.
At first, many people visited to offer their prayers, but afterward, Lingyun Mountain became a tourist attraction, which attracted many tourists to come here. Everyone came here for different reasons, so naturally, they took different paths. For example, there was only one path of stone steps up the mountain from the start, but as one climbed it, the path split into numerous tiny walkways. Yet, whichever path one chose, it always led to the top of the mountain.
The others and Han Muzi never intentionally chose a path since they tried to follow where fate led them. These paths were built for people to walk up the mountain, so the path was divided into several more gravel roads to avoid large crowds of people at a time. The further they went, the fewer the people on the road.
Han Muzi felt a bit exhausted when she heard Yan panting, “Is it because I did not exercise much? Why do I feel so tired after walking for a while?”
Xiao Su had a look at Yan and realized that she was panting heavily, so he stopped and taught her, “There is something wrong with your breathing. You should breathe like this…” After that, he personally demonstrated it to Yan while Han Muzi slowed down her steps.
Under Xiao Su’s guidance, Yan’s breathing improved, but she was still a bit surprised. “I usually walk a lot too, but why am I feeling so uncomfortable now?”
Han Muzi shot a look at their surroundings before she explained to Yan, “Usually, you walk on a ground level, but now, you are walking on a gradient, so you need more energy for every step. We just started walking not long ago. Are you sure you can reach the top like this?”
When Han Muzi explained in a calm manner, it sounded as if she wasn’t tired at all. Instantly, Yan couldn’t help but moan, “Muzi, that is not fair. We have been together most of the time before, so why do you not look exhausted at all? If I’m unable to reach the top, shouldn’t it be harder for you as a pregnant woman to do it?”
Listening to her, Han Muzi let out a faint smile. She was different from Yan. At the start, Yan jogged up the steps and even went up two steps at a time because she was full of energy. Even though she stopped and waited for them occasionally, she still exhausted her body at a higher rate, so her body’s recovery rate was slower.
