Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1241

“We’re here on vacation anyway, so why would we stay for long?”

Lin Qin’er froze on the spot. She’d initially planned to mollify Yan first, then think about how she should seduce Han Qing, but now, they were actually planning to go back. How could this be? She was mildly panicked, yet she couldn’t do anything. After all, there wasn’t much time left for her to act, so she had to make the most of it. “It’s fine. You’re just going back. I’m a fellow citizen, so we can add each other on WeChat and keep in contact then.” After saying that, she took out her cell phone and motioned for Yan to add her on WeChat.

However, Yan didn’t do anything. After Lin Qin’er had waited for a long while, the atmosphere around them turned awkward. Meanwhile, Han Qing, who was standing a distance away, had initially planned to go over upon seeing them together, but after turning it over in his mind, he inexplicably slowed his footsteps. His young lady was still too naïve previously, so he had to allow her to face the sinister side of society so that she could distinguish a person’s character herself. Therefore, he didn’t go over to join them.

“Yan, what’s your WeChat ID? I’ll add you on WeChat.”

“Never mind.” Yan smiled nonchalantly. Dusting her hands, she commented, “I don’t really use WeChat, so you won’t be able to contact me even if you add me.”

Having not gathered her wits, Lin Qin’er reflexively asked, “You don’t use it? But when I was with you that night, I saw you using WeChat. Are you unwilling to add me because you hate me?”

Yan threw her a glance, the expression on her face solemn. “Since you know that, why do you still want to ask me?”

She has admitted to it? Lin Qin’er’s face instantly drained of color, and she stared at Yan bleakly. “Yan, how could you? I sincerely want to apologize to you. Furthermore, the two of you aren’t really married, so the curse doesn’t even apply.”

Upon hearing that, Yan sneered, “Am I obliged to forgive you just because you sincerely want to apologize to me? The choice is in my hands, so I decide whether I want to forgive you. Also, when did I ever say that we aren’t married? Do you have proof? Did I send you a text or a voice message about this?”

Lin Qin’er was rendered speechless by her retort. Before this, she’d thought that this young lady was naïve and innocent, so it’d be easy to use her, but she’d finally realized at this moment that this girl merely hadn’t shown her claws. Since Yan saved her, she’d treated her as a weakling, thus she hadn’t turned her sharp claws on her. But now? After she’d realized Lin Qin’er’s true motive, she’d revealed her sharp claws, her meaning blatantly obvious—‘if you dare covet my man, my claws will swipe at you without the slightest hesitation and shred your face to ribbons’! This realization frightened her, and the hand in which she was clutching her cell phone trembled slightly. Staring at the spirited girl before her, she couldn’t respond for a moment.

Yan, however, wasn’t bothered by her emotions. Gazing out at the calm ocean, her smile was very faint. “You were hit, so I instinctively saved you, but I, Yan, isn’t one who allows others to bully me. I’ve got no objections if you want to enjoy the remaining few days on this little island, but if you dare play any more tricks, I assure you that I won’t lift a finger to help you anymore. You may think that seducing my husband is his business, and his assent has got nothing to do with me, but you know what? My husband is cold by nature, so he may be unmoved even if a goddess were to descend from heaven and stand before him, let alone by a woman like you.” It wasn’t that she was exaggerating, but she truly understood Han Qing too well. Back then, he was so ascetic that he had no reaction despite her teasing all those times. She’d pursued him for a very long time before he’d finally taken an interest in her. Thus, she trusted him entirely; Han Qing wasn’t a person who fooled around.

As a thought flashed across her mind, she suddenly laughed. Then, she glanced at Lin Qin’er with pity in her eyes. “Most importantly, you have a husband, while my husband so happens to be a person who has an abhorrence of sin. As a married woman, if you act shamelessly in front of him, trust me, he’ll only detest and loathe you. Hence, my kind advice to you is to not bring disgrace on yourself.”

Lin Qin’er was dumbstruck. She has said everything, rendering me without even a comeback? She was so infuriated that she gritted her teeth hard. Although her expression was rancorous, she still wore an awkward and unsightly smile.

After she’d finished speaking, Yan glanced at Lin Qin’er’s dour expression, and pleasure suffused her. Propping both hands, she stood up. Then, she brushed the sand off her palms, but wittingly or unwittingly, she deliberately did so in Lin Qin’er’s direction, and since Lin Qin’er was wearing a low-cut blouse, the sand fell down her neckline.

Lin Qin’er exclaimed in shock and subconsciously covered her chest. “Yan, you…”

Gasping, Yan said with surprise written all over her face, “I’m sorry, Miss Lin. I just unconsciously brushed my hands, but I didn’t notice that your neckline is so low that the sand automatically fell into it. Do shake it out later. You won’t be angry at me, will you?” After saying that, she even flashed an innocent smile at Lin Qin’er, revealing her row of white teeth, looking extremely alluring. Then, she swept her gaze all around before waving a hand at Lin Qin’er when she spotted Han Qing a near distance away. “Goodbye.”

Skipping, she then raced over to Han Qing after saying that. However, she couldn’t go fast on the beach, because every step had her foot sinking into the sand, so her skipping was a tad slow. When she’d reached Han Qing, there was already a sheen of perspiration on her forehead. She looked at him, her tone was slightly censorious as she said, “Have you been here for a long time? If so, you saw her, didn’t you? Why didn’t you come over? I noticed that she was dressed very boldly, so perhaps you…” Yan was just saying this casually, so when she was nearing the end of her utterance, she abruptly lost confidence, and her voice grew softer as well.

“Perhaps what?” Han Qing asked in response since he was waiting for the rest of it, but the young lady had suddenly fallen silent.

Yan was at a loss for words. What nonsense was I spouting earlier? I know full well the kind of person he is, yet I deliberately uttered those words as though I wanted to anger him. As this thought occurred to her, she shook her head and replied softly, “Nothing…”

“Nothing?” Han Qing dipped his head and leaned down toward her, abruptly closing the distance between them. His warm exhale beat against her face, lifting the soft wisps of bangs on her forehead. “Is it really nothing, or do you not dare say it? Hmm?”

Confronted with such a Han Qing, the young lady’s face flushed, and she said with a pout, “Alright, you know what I wanted to say, so don’t ask me anymore.”

“What did you want to say? How would I know that?” Han Qing was determined to tease her. As he spoke, he even toyed with her long hair and moved his hand to her forehead, wiping her sweat for her.

“Stop with the pretense. I was saying that Lin Qin’er has such a lovely figure and dresses so boldly, thus perhaps she’s exactly your cup of tea!”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1242

Finally, Yan blurted everything she wanted to say in a single breath. When she was done speaking, she exhaled and stared at Han Qing, her gaze seemingly threaded with a hint of challenge.

Han Qing was slightly stunned, for he’d never known that she had such a crafty side to her. Since she wanted to play with him, he didn’t mind teasing her. His hand that was initially wiping her sweat away had slid down to rest on her shoulder, and after hearing her words now, he simply moved his hand to press against the back of her fair neck, holding her. “What did you say earlier? I didn’t hear you clearly, so can you repeat that?”

Yan was struck speechless. His hand was gripping the back of her neck, so the warmth of his hand seeped into her body without any barrier between them, and the situation now seemed as though he was threatening her. Thus, she dared not say anything further and merely blinked her eyes at him without answering him.

Narrowing his eyes, Han Qing’s breath came a few inches closer. “Your voice is gone now? Didn’t you have quite the guts earlier?” Yan said nothing. “She has a lovely figure? She dresses so boldly? Thus perhaps she’s my cup of tea?” Yan’s temperament went even weaker, and if it weren’t for his hold on her neck, she would probably have fallen on her face at this moment. “Don’t you know the kind of looks you have?” He tapped her on the head with his other hand. “You’ve pursued me for so long, and have you seen any other woman around me besides yourself? You’re so heartless.”

The final sentence was extremely intimate, and it felt as though something slammed into her heart. Yan grew nervous again. Stretching out a hand like a cat, she grabbed his collar and pulled downward slightly, muttering, “I-I was just joking. Plus… my figure… is… is comparable to hers…” Toward the end, her voice turned increasingly softer, sounding just like the buzzing of a mosquito. If it weren’t for the fact that the two of them were very close, Han Qing wouldn’t have been able to hear her. After she’d finished speaking, her face had turned completely red like a peach that was ripe in summer, incredibly alluring with its scarlet hue.

Upon seeing her at this moment, Han Qing’s Adam’s apple bobbed. Realizing that he’d actually been aroused by her blush, he inwardly chided himself, You’re useless! Where have the self-restraint and sensibility you’ve prided yourself on in the past gone? Ultimately, he still went with his heart and lowered his head to capture her lips.

However, before could make contact with her lips, Yan dodged. Looking at him who was close at hand, she declared, “Earlier, Lin Qin’er came over again, and I scolded her at length.”

“Okay,” Han Qing replied.

Then, he went back to dipping his head and seeking out her lips, but Yan dodged him, her face flushed. As she dodged, she demanded, “Is this your only response?”

Han Qing was still in search, so when she turned her head sideways, his lips fell onto her cheek. Seemingly somewhat impatient, he reached out a hand and held the back of her head before saying in a deep voice, “Don’t move.”

Yan wanted to twist her head, but he held it steady. Thus, she couldn’t move it at all and could only watch as he leaned closer to her. “Er… I told you that I scolded her at length. Aren’t you going to give me some response?”

Response? Narrowing his eyes, Han Qing dipped his head and pressed a kiss on her lips. Then, he raised his head again, his voice a smidge indifferent. “She’s of no significance, so what kind of reaction are you hoping from me?”

She’s of no significance? Upon hearing this, the chagrin within Yan faded away entirely, and she couldn’t repress the upward crinkling of her eyebrows and eyes. She clutched his collar. “You’re the one who said that she’s of no significance, so you’re not allowed to entertain her if she tries to seduce you someday.”

Han Qing chuckled in exasperation. “Are you that distrustful of me?”

Yan shook her head. “I’m worried that she’ll be shameless.” After all, Lin Qin’er had deliberately brushed her bosom against him that night. While she’d initially thought that it was an accidental move, now that she was aware of her motive, she knew that it was intentional; she was using her body and a male’s basal instinct to seduce him. This had her feeling discomfited even now. Sticking her lower lip out, she domineeringly proclaimed, “You’re mine, so you’re not allowed to let her touch you.”

You’re mine… This declaration shot into Han Qing’s body like a burst of light, causing the mirth in his obsidian eyes to heat up and expand. “Okay. I’m yours…” Dipping his head, he kissed her. At the same time, Yan closed her eyes and hugged him back tightly.

The two of them kissed on the beach, and the fragments of light around them seemed to converge from every direction to revolve around them. A near distance away, as Lin Qin’er gazed at this beautiful scene, her hands clenched in anger, her fingernails digging deep into her flesh.

How could such a young and inexperienced girl who knows nothing snag the favor of such an outstanding man? Her looks aren’t anything to boast of, and at most, she can only be said to be a rather pretty girl. Even her figure isn’t all that good, yet she dared to be unyielding before me! Isn’t she just depending on that man? And she said he isn’t interested even if a goddess were to descend from heaven. Pah! Lin Qin’er sneered inwardly. That’s because your man has never had a woman like me. When he knows how it feels to be in seventh heaven, he won’t want you anymore! An extremely chilly sneer flashed across her eyes, and an idea formed in her mind.

There was a beachside party at night that was open to everyone, so Yan excitedly dragged Han Qing along. Then, she bumped into several couples who were on the ship back then, one of which was the couple who’d taken a photo for her in the afternoon.

After spotting her, the woman surreptitiously went over to her and started asking, “How’s it going? That woman isn’t hounding you anymore, is she?”

Recalling how she’d chastised Lin Qin’er at length this afternoon, Yan tilted her head. “If she knows what’s good for her, she probably won’t hound me anymore.”

The woman smiled. “Hmm? It sounds as though you’ve taken care of her?”

Upon hearing that, Yan couldn’t stifle her laughter, and she defended herself in a soft voice. “Not at all. I’m not such a violent person, so I merely exchanged a few words with her.”

“If you’ve taken care of her just by exchanging a few words, it proves that you’re good. Unexpectedly, you can also take care of someone albeit looking weak and feeble like a kitten that hasn’t yet matured, huh?”

Yan was disgruntled when she heard the woman teasing her by comparing her to a weak and feeble kitten, so she couldn’t help muttering, “Do I really look that weak?”

The woman nodded. “You really look exceedingly weak, like a little girl who doesn’t know anything. You’re young and pretty, while your husband is so matured, steady, and outstanding, so who else would she target if not you?”

Yan was struck dumb for a moment before mumbling, “So, it’s my fault?”

“Alright, enjoy your night. We’ll be leaving, then.”

Yan nodded at the couple in farewell. Then, she took out her cell phone and snapped some photos before sending them to Han Muzi to share her happiness on this night with her.

Han Muzi, however, replied with a series of ellipsis, seemingly in a bad mood. Baffled, Yan asked her what had happened, but she didn’t answer, asking Yan a question instead. ‘Your trip will be over in another five days, yes?’

It’ll be over in another five days? Yan blinked as a glimmer of reluctance welled within her.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1243

Unexpectedly, time really flies. Before I’d embarked on this trip, I was extremely apprehensive, but now, half the time has passed. Yan merely replied with a ‘yes’. After that, she lifted her head to gaze at the sea. The sea at night was incredibly beautiful, and because they’d been here all along, they had the chance to watch the moon rise from the surface of the ocean. A fair distance away, she could see the relatively big moon having risen partly, half of it seemingly hidden in the water, but the half that had risen was reflected in the water, so it formed a rounded moon that looked particularly lovely.

She couldn’t resist snapping this picture and sending it to Han Muzi, only to discover that she hadn’t replied to her message, while her status indicated that she was still typing. Hmm? Yan propped a hand under her chin in bafflement and sent the picture of the moon. However, there was no response at all after Han Muzi’s status had indicated several times that she was typing, causing Yan’s bewilderment to grow. What’s wrong? In the past, when Han Muzi messaged her, she’d never seemed to have acted in such a manner as she was now. ‘What’s wrong with you?’

Han Muzi answered with another series of ellipsis, and a second later, sent her a cute emoji. ‘I’m fine. I just suddenly recalled something I want to tell you, but after contemplating it earlier, I think I’ll wait until you come back to tell you. For now, enjoy your trip first.’

‘Huh? What is it that you’ve got to wait until I’m back before telling me? Just tell me now.’ If Han Muzi hadn’t mentioned anything, it would’ve been fine, but once she’d said that, Yan’s curiosity was piqued, and she just had to push Han Muzi to tell her right now.

Upon seeing that she was persistently asking about it, Han Muzi couldn’t help furrowing her brows. Biting her lower lip, she recalled the incident on this day. Since Ye Moxuan had Little Sprout with him, and Han Qing was away from the office, she decided to bring Little Bean to his company for a tour. Unexpectedly, this tour brought about a fiasco.

There was a woman who lingered at the company entrance, demanding to see Han Qing and claiming to be his childhood friend. However, she was dressed very shabbily, so much so that if it weren’t peaceful times now, Han Muzi would’ve really thought that she’d escaped from the chaos of war. Naturally, Han Group’s receptionist and security personnel wouldn’t allow the woman entry. After all, she was filthy and hadn’t made an appointment, so they couldn’t possibly just allow her to see him. Nonetheless, she refused to leave and waited at the entrance, rushing up to plead with the receptionist and security personnel as soon they came to work. Coincidentally, when Han Muzi brought Little Bean over there, this was exactly the scene that greeted her.

“Please, I’m really acquainted with President Han. We were childhood sweethearts, but we then lost contact. Please help me. As long as I get to see him once, he’ll be able to recognize me, and I’ll definitely be very grateful to you at that time.”

The receptionist was none other than the person who’d once challenged Yan, so the look in her eyes as she gazed at this woman before her was utterly contemptuous. “Childhood sweethearts? Don’t tell me that you even want to claim that you were betrothed to President Han when you were young?”

The woman was momentarily stunned upon being asked such a question, but she then nodded reflexively.

The receptionist couldn’t help laughing aloud mockingly; she laughed so hard that tears trickled out of her eyes. “Damn, I just simply said that, and you actually dared to claim that it’s true? If you truly had been betrothed to President Han when you were young, then I’d have bathed with him in the same tub when I was young.”

The woman was speechless for a moment before she insisted, “I’m telling you the truth! If you don’t believe me, you can have him come and see me.”

“Hah, this is the biggest joke of the century. Do you think I’ll believe you just because you said so? And if I don’t believe you, I’ve got to call President Han down to see you? President Han has to deal with a myriad of issues daily, so how would he have time to see a stranger like you?”

“I-I’m really not a stranger.” The woman’s face flushed hotly, and she bit her lower lip, her expression seemingly a tad embarrassed. “I really do know him, but—”

“Fine, let’s just assume that you do know him. However, Miss, there’s no shortage of women like you who come to look for President Han every day, and every single one of them claims to have a close relationship with him. If President Han comes and sees every single one of them, then should he still be a president? He might as well be a receptionist and attend to women like you all who wish to marry into riches all day long, no?” The woman was rendered speechless by this, and her face flushed, having no comeback at all. “Well, you do have some looks about you, so it’s not entirely impossible for you to marry into riches. Let me point you to a particular place where you may bump into a few older men if you do go there. It’s not so bad to be a mistress, after all.”

The woman’s face turned livid at this, and her eyes brimmed with tears as though she’d been humiliated. “Never mind if you won’t help me, but why did you have to say such things to humiliate me? I’ve said that I know Han Qing, so I truly do know him! I’m not lying!”

“Hey, you just want to sponge off a rich man, don’t you? In that case, how can you be angry when I’ve just said a few words? If you’re so thin-skinned, how can you seduce men in future?”

The receptionist’s words grew increasingly nasty, and the woman was truly enraged to the point that tears were streaming down her face, making her look very much pitiful. “I’m truly not here to seduce any man. I’m really here to look for him.”

Witnessing this at the side, Han Muzi noticed that the woman truly looked as though she’d suffered a great insult, and her dressing was indeed somewhat… She probably didn’t dress up like this on purpose just to look for Han Qing, yes? As she was thinking, someone tugged on the hem of her clothes, and she looked down, only to see Little Bean, who was standing beside her. When she spotted him, she exclaimed inwardly, Sh*t! The words earlier were so nasty, but he’d actually heard all that. What if the kid learns from that? Thus, she instantly crouched and asked with a smile, “Little Bean, did you hear everything those two ladies said?” Sure enough, he nodded.

Even she herself had heard everything clearly, let alone Little Bean. Moreover, with his high IQ, he’d probably understood everything. As this thought crossed her mind, she patiently explained, “I can explain it to you, but you can’t overthink it, okay? A receptionist has to fulfill her responsibilities. Although her words were rather coarse, that’s a matter of her personal lack of manners. Do you understand?” Actually, she knew that he’d still understand even if she didn’t say this, but he was still her child, so she decided to clarify things patiently.

In the end, Little Bean stretched out his hands and hugged her around the neck for a moment. “Don’t worry, Mommy. I understand,” he said with a sweet smile.

“That’s good.” Han Muzi smiled before she gently caressed his head. “Come, let’s go over and have a look.”

“Okay.”

Han Muzi walked over, holding Little Bean’s hand. There were no women around Han Qing in the past, but many people knew that he had a sister and that he doted on her. Thus, when she appeared with Little Bean, everyone instinctively greeted her.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1244

“What happened here?”

“Miss Han!” As soon as the receptionist caught sight of Han Muzi, the contemptuous expression on her face earlier instantly morphed into a completely different expression, and she trotted over to Han Muzi in an ingratiating manner. “Miss Han, why are you free to come to the office today? President Han went on a business trip a few days ago, so he isn’t in the office now.”

When the woman who’d been chased away in the distance heard that Han Qing had gone on a business trip, a glimmer of turmoil flashed across her eyes. So, he has gone on a business trip?

Flashing her a faint smile, Han Muzi replied in a soft voice, “I know.”

The receptionist was stunned for a moment before she then gathered herself together. She felt that she’d said something useless. She’s President Han’s beloved sister, so when the brother has to leave for a business trip, he’ll definitely notify his sister. She rubbed the back of her head in embarrassment. “Miss Han, why don’t you take Little Young Master upstairs first?

Han Muzi had initially planned to go upstairs because she was here to visit Su Jiu after taking a look around, but now, she had something else to handle. “I’m in no hurry. Tell me what had happened here first. Who is she?”

Upon hearing the receptionist say that Han Muzi was Han Qing’s sister, the woman gazed over at Han Muzi with a dubious look in her eyes. When her gaze alighted on Han Muzi’s face, it gradually cleared, and she then walked over to her with small steps. “You… You are Han Qing’s sister, yes? I… I recognize you…”

“Oh?” Han Muzi raised her eyebrows when she heard that. “You recognize me?”

“Of course, I do.” As the woman looked at Han Muzi, her smile turned warm. “I’ve even carried you when you were just born, but you then went missing, so we didn’t have a chance to see each other again. Unexpectedly, Han Qing truly found you. You resemble your mother a lot.”

The receptionist couldn’t help snorting upon hearing this. “You’re truly audacious… that you’d tell any lie at all for the sake of marrying into riches. Now, you actually claimed that you’d carried President Han’s sister before? Why don’t you simply say that you’re from a wealthy family? Why, you’re embarrassed because you’ve fallen into such dire straits? Miss Han, this woman is out of her mind. She refuses to leave and even claims that she knows both you and President Han. I’ll call security to take her away at once.” After saying that, she beckoned for the security personnel.

Han Muzi, however, stared at the woman thoughtfully. Her gaze is sincere, while her smile is warm and pure. She doesn’t seem as though she’s lying, so perhaps she really does know me? “You mean, you’re my brother’s old friend?” she asked.

The woman nodded. “Yeah. You believe me?”

The receptionist hurried chimed in, “Miss Han, you mustn’t believe her. There are four or five people at the very least who claim to know President Han every day, so you definitely can’t believe her.”

The receptionist had her own responsibilities, thus Han Muzi merely flashed her a faint smile. “It’s fine. I can handle this, so I’ll talk to her. You can just continue with your work first.”

Her words obviously meant to tell the receptionist that she needn’t be bothered about this anymore. The receptionist gave her a discomfited glance before ultimately relenting, turning around to leave.

Han Muzi moved forward, but the woman unconsciously took a small step back and kept her distance from Han Muzi. “Don’t come too close to me. I… am a bit dirty.” The woman was distinctly mortified as she said this, her expression exceedingly awkward.

“It’s fine.” Han Muzi smiled faintly. “Earlier, you said you’ve carried me back when you were young?”

The woman was stunned before she then nodded. “Yes. When your mother gave birth to you, I’ve begun to retain memories. At that time, our families were very close, so I often went over to your house, thus I had the chance to carry you. Back then, your grandfather was particularly happy since he has gotten a granddaughter, and he never wanted to put you down every day. You were incredibly adorable when you were young, tiny and fair, just like a steamed bun fresh from the steamer.”

This comparison had Han Muzi’s face flushing with mortification. Upon hearing all her vivid descriptions when she spoke, Han Muzi was fairly certain that she indeed knew Han Qing, and their families might very well have been friends. However, something must have happened that she’d ended up in such a state right now.

After that, Han Muzi brought her to the hotel and got her settled. The woman took out her ID to book a room, and when Han Muzi was done with all the check-in procedures for her, she bit her lower lip and declared, “When I’ve earned some money in the future, I’ll definitely pay you back this money.”

Later, they then chatted a bit more, whereby Han Muzi asked her a few questions out of curiosity, only to discover that she’d been betrothed to Han Qing when she was young. After learning about this, Han Muzi became extremely restless. If this woman had come to look for Han Qing back when he was single, it might have been a good thing, but he’s now with Yan. If this matter isn’t handled well…

After having recalled the event on this day thus far, Han Muzi decided to let Yan enjoy herself first. After all, this was a rare trip, and their relationship could only advance if both of them interact harmoniously without any barrier between them. This was the most important thing. ‘It isn’t anything important, so it makes no difference to tell you when you’re back.’

However, Yan’s curiosity was piqued, and she kept haranguing Han Muzi to tell her everything, only to have her say that Ye Moxuan had come home with Little Sprout, so she’ll have a video call with her if she truly wanted to know. This utterance had her mind completely blown. Ye Moxuan is at home, and she wants to have a video call to tell me? Is she wishing his cold shoulder upon me? She declined. Thus, she no longer pestered Han Muzi but pulled her thoughts back to reality. The moon had already risen.

“What are you doing?” Han Qing suddenly came over and asked.

Casting him a sideways glance, Yan said softly, “Nothing much. Just now, I texted Muzi, but Young Master Ye then came home, so I didn’t continue chatting with her.”

“I see.” After saying that, he fell silent, and the two of them sat on the beach together. Yan wasn’t the kind of person who particularly loved to mingle about, so she sat a distance away. Furthermore, she was relatively shy, so she didn’t take the initiative to join the crowd.

Nonetheless, those few people who were on the ship with them earlier trotted over. “Yan, why are you still sitting over here? Quick, come over and join everyone else.”

They were so enthusiastic that Yan couldn’t dissuade them, so she could only turn to Han Qing beside her. Han Qing, however, extended a hand and stroked her head. “Go and have fun,” he said with a faint smile.

“W-What about you?”

“I’ll come over and look for you in awhile.”

At this, Yan finally nodded and got up to join the party with everyone else. Compared to her bashfulness and shyness, the others were all extremely enthusiastic and asked her all sorts of questions after she’d gone over. Several women were even interested in Han Qing, and everything they asked was about him, for instance, his name, occupation, how they got together, how long they’d been married, and the like.

These questions had her feeling exasperated, and she even felt that if it weren’t for him beside her at this party today, everyone probably wouldn’t have noticed her. Regretfully, he was too outstanding, so he took the spotlight among the crowd; this was something she’d known long ago.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1245

While Yan was thinking, a figure squeezed in beside her and looked at her with a beguiling smile. “Yan, you now understand, don’t you?”

Lin Qin’er? Yan stared at her, narrowing her eyes threateningly. This woman is truly shameless. Even after all I’ve said in the afternoon, she still dares to come up to me? Is she trying to give me a target to practice my tongue-lashing skills? When this thought crossed her mind, Yan snorted without answering her.

“Your husband’s allure is infinite, so he isn’t someone a young girl like you can handle.”

Upon hearing that, Yan languidly cast her a sidelong glance, her tone colored with a hint of mockery. “You mean, he’s someone whom a shameless, married woman like you can handle?”

These words had a sting to them, and while Lin Qin’er had already braced herself mentally, she was unexpectedly still angered. However, she swiftly suppressed her ire and gazed at Yan, commenting smilingly, “I didn’t say that. After all, among the women here who asked you so many questions, a lot of them are married.”

Is she trying to shift my attention onto some other woman? Yan smiled coldly. Does she think I’m an idiot? “They’re merely asking out of curiosity, so it’s very much different from your sordid thoughts.”

Lin Qin’er was struck dumb. It seems that I’ve underestimated her!

“Didn’t I tell you not to play tricks again? It seems that you haven’t given up yet.”

Upon glimpsing the look in Yan’s eyes, Lin Qin’er was startled slightly, and she then explained, “Yan, that’s not what I meant at all. I’m just trying to tell you that I’m the same as them, driven by mere curiosity. I don’t harbor any sordid thoughts. I’ve come over here to apologize to you so sincerely, yet you’re still unwilling to believe me?”

Believe you? Yan stared at the woman in front of her who deliberately feigned an expression of extraordinary sincerity when she spoke, but the smugness and derision in her eyes couldn’t be concealed. She pursed her lips. “Honestly speaking, if the incident that day were to transpire once more, I’d probably still choose to save you. However, I likely wouldn’t take you back to the hotel. Rather, I’d hand you over to the police right away.”

When Lin Qin’er heard the word ‘police’, she unconsciously cringed.

“Similarly, I didn’t hand you over to the police back then, but if I need to do so now, it’s not that difficult. Do you understand my meaning?” After Yan had said that, she took out her cell phone and waved it before Lin Qin’er, whose expression was ghastly. Upon seeing that all the color had drained from her lips, Yan’s lips quirked with a faint smile, and she remarked, “Of course, if I want to hand you over to the police, I still need to go to the trouble of calling them, while I merely want to enjoy myself now. But if you ruin my mood and make trouble for me, likewise, I’ll also make your life a living hell.”

“Yan, I—”

“If you don’t believe me, then just try me.” After saying that, Yan picked up her glass of fruit juice before she whirled around and left, no longer bothered about her.

Lin Qin’er stood stock-still, her hands clenched into fists in fury.

Halfway through the party, Yan felt rather tired, so she decided to go back and rest. She sought out Han Qing and told him about her plans. “Since you’re tired, let’s go back.” As for Han Qing, he wouldn’t have attended this party under normal circumstances. Even now, as Yan was attending the party, he was watching his young lady have fun from afar while he himself sipped some wine without joining in. Very quickly, she grew tired and ran back to him, so he naturally took her back to the hotel.

When they were about to reach the hotel, Han Qing suddenly noticed something amiss with his body. Frowning slightly, he glanced at Yan beside him. She was holding onto his arm and leaning against him, her body cool and chilly like water. Has she caught a cold from the breeze, or is it my problem? As this thought came to him, he stretched out a hand and placed it on her forehead.

Surprised by his sudden gesture, Yan stopped short. “What’s wrong?” She blinked, her long eyelashes spreading out like a fan as she gazed at him naively and innocently.

Her skin was fair, and her clear face grew increasingly alluring against the backdrop of the lights. Han Qing averted his eyes as his throat grew parched. “Why are you so cold? Were you in the breeze for too long?”

“Huh? Am I cold?” Yan extended a hand and touched her own forehead before saying subconsciously, “It feels about the same as usual, but the night breeze is rather strong, so perhaps I’m really cold from it. Later, I’ll just take a hot shower back in the room, and I’ll be fine. I’m so tired.” After saying that, she took his arm again, leaning entirely against him. Actually, she wanted to say, I’m so tired. Would you give me a piggyback ride? However, she dared not act coquettish before him, so she could merely lean against him like this.

After entering the elevator, Han Qing felt as though the air itself carried a wave of heat within the enclosed space, and an inexplicable fire seemed to be burning within him. Meanwhile, the young lady’s body that was nestled within his embrace grew increasingly cool. Now, he could almost be certain that it was his own problem. From the tiny spark of heat that spread from his abdomen, wave after wave of increasingly intense heat swept over him, rendered even more obvious in this enclosed space with no air circulation. Thus, it was no wonder he felt that her body was cold. Previously, he’d even thought that it was because she’d stood too long in the sea breeze, only now realizing that it was his own problem. While he’d never before experienced a similar situation, he could vaguely guess what had happened with his superior intelligence. Pursing his lips, he restrained himself, his expression going cold.

Ding!

In no time, the elevator arrived. After exiting the elevator, Han Qing stopped and said to Yan in a low voice, “You go back first.”

“Hmm?” Yan stared at him in puzzlement. “What about you? Do you have something else to do?”

Gazing at her naïve and innocent expression, Han Qing sighed inwardly, stretching out a hand and ruffling her hair in exasperation. “I’m going out to buy something, and I’ll be back very soon.”

“Oh, I see.” Yan nodded without suspecting anything. “Then, I’ll go back first and take a shower. I’ll wait for you to come back. Don’t take so long,” she said with docility written all over her face.

“Okay.”

Before leaving, the young lady seemed reluctant, whirling around to hug Han Qing. She didn’t suspect anything before hugging him, but after doing so, she felt that something was amiss. She looked up at him dubiously. “Are you feeling hot?”

Han Qing was at a loss for words. There was a thin layer of perspiration on his forehead, for as soon as the drug started to take effect, its speed was very swift. Now, the heat had already traveled to every part of him, carried by the flow of his blood. “A little bit.”

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” As Yan said that, she stretched out a hand to touch his forehead, but just as her fingertips had made contact with him, he grasped her wrist. She looked at him in bafflement.

“Don’t fuss,” Han Qing chided in a hoarse voice. “I’m going down to feel some wind on my skin, then I’ll be back.”

Snapping back to her senses, Yan demanded indignantly, “Why would you be sweating for no reason? Are you running a fever? If you are, the wind will worsen your condition. So, I don’t think you should go. Just go back to the hotel room, and I’ll ask the front desk whether they have any fever-reducing patch.” After saying that, she walked in the direction of their room while dragging him along.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1246

In comparison with Han Qing’s hand, the young lady’s hand was chilly. Meanwhile, Yan had also realized in astonishment that his palm was exceedingly hot; it wasn’t just the normal kind of hot, but it was scorching like fire. Glancing at the light sheen of sweat on his forehead, she was even more certain that he must be running a fever.

Recalling his unusual behavior downstairs, her heart clenched in utter distress. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier that you weren’t feeling well but endured it silently? Are you an idiot? If you’d said earlier that you weren’t feeling well, we could’ve come back earlier,” she said reproachfully as she dragged him along.

Initially, Han Qing wanted to leave and get some cool breeze, but unexpectedly, she’d noticed something amiss and mistakenly assumed that he was sick, dragging him back to rest. He was slightly exasperated, but he didn’t know how to explain it to her, so he could only remark with a bitter smile, “I’m a man, so I can handle this by myself. Aren’t you tired? Go back to the room and take a shower. I’ll go downstairs and check whether they have any fever-reducing patch, okay?”

Upon hearing that, Yan’s footsteps stilled, and she turned back to stare at him fixedly. After two seconds, she shook her head. “No. You go back to the room first, and I’ll go downstairs to check for you!” Their room was already close, so she dragged him before the door in a few steps. Then, she asked him for the key card. “Quick, open the door and go in. You rest, while I go downstairs and ask on your behalf.”

Han Qing was rendered speechless. This silly girl!

“Hurry up!” At Yan’s urging, he had no choice but to swipe the key card to open the door. She pushed him in, while she herself stood outside the door. “Wait for me in the room, and drink some hot water first. I’ll go downstairs and ask whether they have any medicine. You’re not allowed to sneak out! And wait for me to come back!” After saying that, she whirled around and ran off without any regard for his acquiescence.

As he stood there, Han Qing stared at the key card in his hand before glancing at her figure as she ran off. Heaving a sigh, he relented and closed the room door. Then, he inserted the key card into the slot to turn on the electricity. In such a situation, how am I supposed to make it clear to her so that she won’t think that I’m running a fever?

After telling her, will she then be afraid of me and think that I’m terrifying? No matter what, he felt that it was best if he took a cold shower first. Instead of boiling the water, he went into the bathroom directly to take a cold shower. When the cold water poured on his body, a certain degree of heat was washed off, but it was merely a temporary relief, for the heat swiftly returned. If he wanted relief, he could only take cold showers the entire night.

He didn’t mind, for his body had always been strong, so he wouldn’t have any objections even if he were to take cold showers the entire night. However, he was staying in the same room as Yan, so if she knew that he was doing so, his young lady would probably be distressed to death.

Time ticked by in seconds and minutes. Han Qing felt that a long time had passed, yet the young lady had yet to return. Feeling rather worried, he turned off the water and exited the bathroom. Sure enough, it was all silent outside the bathroom, not even a silhouette to be seen.

Ding dong! The doorbell rang. His eyes flickered, and as he pondered how he should explain his condition to her when he saw her later, he took steady steps forward.

Swoosh! As soon as the door was opened, a lithe and graceful figure threw herself right into Han Qing’s embrace and hugged his slender waist tightly, her entire body plastered to him like a serpent. Han Qing was stunned for a moment, but when he scented an unfamiliar fragrance, he abruptly shoved the person away. Then, he fixed his frosty gaze on her.

It was Lin Qin’er. She was wearing a long, black silk dress with spaghetti straps, a translucent gauze draped over her, and her long hair hung loose. She gazed at him seductively. “Mr. Han, let me help you out.”

Upon hearing that, the ebony in Han Qing’s eyes darkened considerably, and the corners of his lips went flat. He stared intently at her. “It was you.”

Smiling softly, Lin Qin’er admitted in a soft murmur, “It was me. I merely told the server that I wanted to treat you to a glass of wine, and he obediently did my bidding. Unexpectedly, Mr. Han, you weren’t at all wary, or perhaps it’s not that you weren’t wary, but… it was deliberate on your part? Yan is too young, so she’s definitely not as skilled as I am. If you don’t mind, I can—”

“Get lost!” Han Qing roared in fury before she’d even finished speaking.

An overwhelming cold aura instantly shrouded her. Lin Qin’er’s expression changed a touch, but still, she stepped forward and countered, “Why must you kick me out? Yan is off somewhere, so you’re the only person in the room now. Even if I enter, she won’t know. Furthermore, I know the potency of the drug, and I put in a lot. Therefore, no matter how strong your will is, you can’t possibly escape tonight.”

Han Qing chuckled coldly, and an expression that had never graced his face in the past now manifested, his eyes gleaming with viciousness. “Before you did this, have you ever considered the consequences?”

The petrifying aura emanating from him shocked Lin Qin’er, and she instinctively shrank back. However, she promptly gathered her wits about her and threw herself at him recklessly. “Mr. Han, I’m not asking for anything save tonight. I’ll definitely leave, and I won’t tell Yan about this. In future, you’ll still be together with Yan, but if you need me, I’ll make an appearance. How about that?”

Han Qing didn’t move, and he remained staring coldly at her.

Lin Qin’er couldn’t grasp his thoughts. He isn’t kicking me out, but he hasn’t agreed either. What does this mean? Perhaps he’s wavering? Just when she thought that he’d been moved by her words, Han Qing’s voice rang out without any warmth.

“Do you know what I hate most in my entire life?” Lin Qin’er stood stock-still. “It’s women like you who act shamelessly.” A mocking and contemptuous smile tugged on Han Qing’s lips, and the look in his eyes as he stared at her was as though he was looking at a doomed person.

His final declaration had Lin Qin’er’s face draining of all color. I never thought that Yan’s words were true, and he truly hates people like me, but I even ran over to him and proclaimed that I can come over when he needs me. Hadn’t I just intensified his loathing of me? D*mn it, I’ve already lowered myself this far, yet this man isn’t at all moved. She gritted her teeth in anger. “Why? You and Yan aren’t husband and wife, after all. Since she can’t help you out, won’t you just let me help you out?”

“Do you think you’re worthy?”

Lin Qin’er was struck dumb, and she almost shattered her teeth with how hard she was grinding them. “What about Yan, then? Is she worthy? If she’s truly worthy, why did you let her go? Why didn’t you tell her the truth? Isn’t it because—”

However, Han Qing interrupted her before she could finish speaking. “Haha… Actually, I disdain explaining myself to someone like you, but since you’re so desperate to know, then it doesn’t matter if I tell you. When it comes to her, I hold her dear. I didn’t tell her the truth because I’m reluctant to have her suffer even the tiniest bit of hurt and not because of any of those sordid thoughts you have. Do you understand now?”

Hold her dear? Reluctant to have her suffer even the tiniest bit of hurt? Lin Qin’er recalled how gentle and attentive he usually treated Yan before looking at his restraint and forbearance at the moment. It truly seems as though he’s really reluctant to have her suffer and not because he isn’t interested in her!

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1247

“Have you understood me? Get lost,” Han Qing frostily ordered Lin Qin’er to leave.

Meanwhile, there was nothing else Lin Qin’er could do. She’d gone as far as this, yet this outstanding and cold man before her wasn’t at all tempted. Was she supposed to lay herself out on the floor? However, even if she were to prostrate herself on the ground, this man probably wouldn’t even spare her a single glance.

At this moment, she finally understood that a woman didn’t necessarily have to lower herself before a man. As long as the man loved her enough, even if she were blind to all other matters, he would still spoil her wholeheartedly. Regretfully… it was too late, and she’d probably never have this chance in her entire life. She left in utter despair.

Han Qing closed the door and went back into the room. After debating with Lin Qin’er earlier, he had steam coming out of his ears at this moment. He wanted to go back in and take another cold shower, but Yan hadn’t returned since she’d left earlier, so he was exceedingly worried. Planning to go out to look for her, he simply changed in preparation to leave. Just as he’d reached the entryway, he heard someone pounding on the door, so he stepped forward and swung open the door.

Sure enough, the young lady had returned, and she held a plastic bag in her arms, looking rather pale. “I seem to have returned late. How are you feeling? Have you drunk some hot water? Are you still feeling unwell?”

Han Qing glanced between her expression and the plastic bag in her arms. “What’s this?”

Speaking of that, Yan’s expression instantly grew frustrated. “The hotel front desk didn’t have any fever-reducing patch, and there isn’t a doctor on this little island. I asked a staff member, and fortunately, he personally brought some fever-reducing medication, but I was worried that it wouldn’t be sufficient, so I asked them for a bag of ice cubes. Perhaps they’ll be useful for you.”

Ice cubes? Realizing that the plastic bag in her arms was a huge bag of ice cubes, Han Qing’s expression instantly changed, and he reached out to take the bag of ice cubes from her before placing it onto the shelf beside him. Then, he took her hands. Sure enough, her hands were freezing from the chill throughout her way back. The temperature of the human body was vastly different from that of an ice cube itself, so when she held the bag of ice cubes in her arms and even wrapped her arms around it, it was no wonder that her face looked rather pale. As this thought crossed his mind, he couldn’t resist extending a hand and tapping her on the nose. “Are you an idiot? Even if you took ice cubes back, why didn’t you carry the bag in your hand? Why did you hold them in your arms? Did you think you’re a freezer?”

When he brought this up, Yan scratched her head in mild embarrassment and said broodingly, “I-I couldn’t carry it, so… I held it in my arms. Furthermore, it was just a short distance. I’m fine now, aren’t I?”

“You’re fine now, but if you had carried it any longer, your body might not have been able to take it, and you might have fainted. At that time, who would’ve helped you? Silly goose, you’re not allowed to do this anymore next time.”

“Okay.” Yan nodded obediently.

Han Qing gave a soft sigh. His massive hands grasped her petite, chilly hands and shared his body heat with her.

Freezing to the marrow of her bones from holding that bag of ice cubes, it was truly pretty comfortable for Yan as the heat continued to seep into her, and she was even greedy for more warmth. However, a thought abruptly occurred to her, and she swiftly pushed his hands away. “We can’t do this. You’re still running a fever, so don’t touch me first! This is the fever-reducing medication the staff member gave me. I’ll go and ready the ice cubes for you to use as a cold compress.” After saying that, she hurriedly whirled around.

All of a sudden, Han Qing recalled Lin Qin’er’s words earlier. Even an outsider like her had mistakenly assumed that he didn’t want to tell Yan because he had no interest in her, so if she learned that he wasn’t running a fever but had been drugged yet didn’t tell her, would she also assume similarly? He didn’t care about other people’s perceptions, but Yan’s perception…

Thinking of this, he decided to confess the truth to her, but just as the words were at the tip of his tongue, Yan suddenly snapped, “Damn it! This kettle is not working. These staff members are just too much. I’ll go and ask them for another one, so wait a little while for me. I’ll be back in five minutes!” She dashed out the door anxiously after saying that.

Han Qing was dumbfounded, for he didn’t even have a chance to speak in between.

Holding the kettle, Yan wanted to go downstairs to get another one, but while en route, Lin Qin’er blocked her path. Since she was in a hurry, she didn’t want to argue with Lin Qin’er, merely shooting her a cold look before walking around her. Lin Qin’er, however, blocked her path again, upon which she glared at her impatiently. “Move. I’m in a hurry, so I’ve got no time to talk to you.”

Lin Qin’er’s lips quirked. “Don’t you want to know what’s wrong with Han Qing?”

Upon hearing that, Yan was stunned for a moment before she instinctively narrowed her eyes at her. “What do you mean by that?”

“He merely went for a walk by the beach, so why did his entire body suddenly heat up when he came back? Did you think… he’s merely running a normal fever?”

Yan was at a loss for words.

Lin Qin’er took a step forward, smiling faintly. “Let me tell you the truth. He has been drugged.” Yan’s heart jolted, and she stared at her warily. “Are you very much surprised? You didn’t think of this, did you? But… aren’t you two husband and wife? He’s been drugged, so he can have you help him out, yet he didn’t tell you anything but merely looked on as you rushed around. Are you tired?”

Yan was rendered speechless. Previously, she was still a tad mystified, but now that Lin Qin’er had put things so clearly, she understood everything even if she were a fool. No wonder he was acting strange downstairs, and his hand that was grasping mine was extremely hot with the kind of heat that was abnormal. However, at that time, she didn’t think anything of it. His expression didn’t look any different, so she’d thought that he was merely running a fever, but unexpectedly, he was actually… For a moment, she lost her bearings, and she didn’t know what to say about this matter.

“Aren’t you feeling fairly disappointed? You keep saying that he’s your husband, yet he doesn’t even want to touch you. Yan, do you think this is what they call an unrequited love?” Lin Qin’er was deliberately saying this because she’d been rejected by Han Qing. Thus, she could only make her move against Yan. After all, she didn’t manage to realize her goal, so she decided to sow discord in their relationship and make them unhappy. As she thought of this, she couldn’t resist patting herself on the back for her wittiness.

However, just as she was about to utter a few more mocking remarks, Yan suddenly smiled faintly and responded to her words, “So?”

Lin Qin’er froze.

“What the hell does whether I’m harboring an unrequited love or tired have to do with you?”

Lin Qin’er was struck speechless.

“Miss Lin, it seems that you truly didn’t take my words earlier to heart. Then, I shall realize your wish. I’ll call the police later, so let me wish you all the best in your reunion with your husband in advance, Miss Lin.”

Lin Qin’er was utterly enraged by her words. “How dare you?”

“Also, you don’t need to come here and sow discord in our relationship. Judging from your dressing, you must have made your move, yes? But it seems like you’ve failed.” Yan stared at her clothes with a half-smile.

Lin Qin’er glanced down at her clothes. Since she wanted to confront Yan, she didn’t even have time to get changed.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1248

“You’re a loser, yet you still have the audacity to come over to me to show off and sow discord? Miss Lin, I’ve got to say that you’re rather thick-skinned.” After saying that, Yan laughed unceremoniously.

Lin Qin’er’s face grew red from her words, and she gritted her teeth. “You don’t need to be so smug. Even if I’m a loser, you’re still someone who harbors unrequited love. He doesn’t even spare you a single glance, so it’s evident that he has got no interest in you. After all, you’re a young girl who knows nothing. It doesn’t matter if I failed, for I’m merely a person whom the two of you meet on the path of life anyway. But you’re his girlfriend. If a man doesn’t have any interest in his own girlfriend, you know what it means without me having to point it out, no?”

Now, Yan had finally figured out the entire situation. Hah, this woman before me is just too much! “Lin Qin’er.” This time, she didn’t even address her as ‘Miss,’ calling her directly by name. She then smiled dazzlingly. “You’re truly an extremely envious person and a typical person who can’t stand to see others happy. You’ve failed to seduce him, and you’re worried that my relationship with him will suffer no harm, so you deliberately came over to tell me that he’s not interested in me. Are you trying to make me feel that he truly has no interest in me, thus grieve over this matter and decide not to return to him anymore?”

“What a pity!” Yan again flashed her a sweet smile, her image as different as day and night from Lin Qin’er’s infuriated one. Their age and looks were different in themselves, but at this moment, the disparity was reflected all the more vividly. “Before you came, I was still slightly unconfident, but I’ve got to thank you now because judging from your reaction, you must have been rejected brutally. I think Han Qing didn’t even spare you a single glance, so that’s why you’re so furious?”

“How dare you?”

Yan retreated two steps and remarked languidly, “Oh yes, I still have to thank you for telling me that he isn’t running a fever or sick, thus saving me from having to deliberately make a trip downstairs. So, I’ll just give you this kettle, for you seem to be burning up. You should drink more water.” After saying that, she threw the kettle at Lin Qin’er without any regard for her.

“Ahh!” Lin Qin’er shrieked and backed away, but the kettle still hit her toe, the pain so great that her expression twisted. “You’ve gone insane!”

“Not at all. I’m just being considerate on your behalf. I’ll be leaving, so remember to drink more water. Bye.” Yan bid her farewell after she’d said that and retraced her steps. Since she’d just chewed Lin Qin’er out, she was extremely spirited and in an exceedingly good mood. Moreover, Han Qing wasn’t running a fever, so her worry had faded away.

However, when she’d reached the room door, the hand with which she wanted to press the doorbell hung suspended in the air, and she dared not press the doorbell even after a long time had passed. Her lips parted silently as she wondered what to do. Back before she’d known that Han Qing was drugged, she didn’t have this problem. However, now that I know that he’d been drugged, how should I face him after entering the room? Furthermore, I’d said that I was going to get another kettle, but I don’t even have a kettle now. How am I supposed to fib? As she thought of this, she was a tad frustrated. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have given the kettle to that despicable woman! There was a complicated train of thought within her, and she lifted her hand only to put it down again. She was truly a coward. Just go in, okay? Han Qing must be suffering right now, so perhaps I can… She didn’t dare continue thinking further, for the more she contemplated, the more she felt that she was being straightforward. The person who’d been drugged didn’t even say anything, so why was she who hadn’t been drugged letting her imagination run wild? She covered her face with both hands, feeling mortified to death.

Click! At this time, the room door was swung open all of a sudden, and a deep voice rang out. “Why are you spacing out while standing in front of the door, making no move to come in?”

Huh? Yan abruptly snapped back to reality. As soon as she raised her head, she caught sight of Han Qing. Have I exposed myself since I was covering my flustered face with both hands? She hurriedly dropped her hands and stood there ramrod straight, looking at him seriously.

Han Qing cast her a sidelong glance with a half-smile on his face. “Come in first,” he ordered in a huff. He turned his body sideways, and Yan walked in. Then, she heard him closing the door. Before this, she hadn’t thought anything of it, but now that she knew he’d been drugged, she felt her heart jolting hard after he’d shut the door, and even the air around them was turning muggy. She bit her lip in apprehensiveness, only to hear his voice ring out from behind her. “Didn’t you go to get another kettle? Where’s the kettle?” he asked, staring at her empty hands.

All at once, Yan was so nervous upon being asked this question that her toes curled. Turning, she glanced at him before saying awkwardly, “Er… the hotel staff member said they don’t have any extra, so…”

“So? Why is the old one missing as well?”

Gazing into his eyes, Yan was silent for a long while before answering, “Since it’s not functioning, I didn’t take it back with me.”

Han Qing smiled faintly. “Really?”

His expression was calm and relaxed, not at all looking as though he’d been drugged in terms of his gaze and mien. If it weren’t for the slight sheen of sweat on his forehead, there was truly no indication of his condition. Upon thinking of this, Yan took two steps forward. When she felt the cool air on his body, she abruptly blurted, “You took a cold shower?”

Han Qing was in no hurry to answer her, his thin lips slowly curving into an alluring arc as he stared at her heatedly, his obsidian eyes seemingly sparking with fire.

Yan was struck speechless. Her lips parted soundlessly under his intense scrutiny, yet nothing came out of her mouth. She was truly dumb, for she’d planned to feign ignorance, but unexpectedly… she’d exposed herself as soon as she opened her mouth. When this crossed her mind, she was inwardly irritated at her foolishness. Her initial plan was to feign ignorance, but they’d be spending the subsequent time together in the same room, so keeping up the pretense would appear particularly hypocritical. Thus, she could only rearrange her thoughts before suggesting, “Er… do you need to go to the hospital?” After asking this question, she felt incredibly smart, for she’d merely asked him whether he needed to go to the hospital without revealing any other information, thus he wouldn’t know what she actually meant at this moment. Just when she was basking in her victory, however, the person in front of her took a few steps toward her, closing the gap between them in a flash. She could now sense the chill from his body since he’d taken a cold shower.

“What do you think?” Leaning down a fraction, Han Qing exhaled a heated breath against her ear.

Thunderstruck, Yan subconsciously swallowed. She hadn’t the guts to lift her head to look at him. “How about… going to the hospital? Perhaps it’ll be better to have a doctor handle this,” she commented foolishly.

As soon as her words fell, her chin was suddenly gripped. Han Qing forced her head up with his enormous palm, and her initially averted gaze inevitably met his. Since he was leaning down, they were very close. “What if I don’t want to go to the hospital?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1249

Yan froze on the spot and stared at him blankly. N-Not going to the hospital? Then, does he mean… Her initially fair cheeks instantly turned bright red. Pursing her red lips, her eyes went wide like an innocent baby.

“Hmm?” Han Qing leaned down further, his thin lips almost touching hers. She felt as though her breathing was coming to a stop. Inwardly, she thought, If he kisses me at this time, I definitely won’t refuse. Fine by me if he doesn’t want to go to the hospital! We’re boyfriend and girlfriend, after all! Back then, I was worried precisely because he was slow in showing any need for me, no? Therefore, it’s rather wise if I grab hold of this opportunity now and get together with him for real!

Just when she’d decided to courageously give herself to him, however, she heard Han Qing asking, “You’re afraid now?

Upon hearing that, Yan shook her head vigorously in denial.

“If you aren’t afraid, why aren’t you saying anything?”

“Er…” Yan wanted to explain herself, but Han Qing flashed her a faint smile and released his grip on her chin before tapping her on the tip of her nose. “Silly goose, what are you afraid of? I won’t hurt you. It’s late now, so go and take a shower quickly, then go to bed. We still have an itinerary to keep to tomorrow.”

“Huh?” Yan gaped at him in bewilderment. He’s actually asking me to go and take a shower, then go to bed at such a time? Is he truly an idiot? If I go and take a shower, then go to bed, what is to become of him, then? Plus, he said earlier that he won’t hurt me. Does that mean he won’t touch me? And he won’t touch me because he thinks I’m afraid? As her mind whirred, Han Qing had already turned to leave. Yan herself didn’t know her exact thoughts, but before her mind could catch up, she’d already rushed over and hugged him around the waist! “I-I-I-I-I don’t want to go and take a shower! I want to keep you company!” After she’d stammered this, stumbling all over her words, she buried her head in his back. She no longer raised her head, but her hands around his slender waist tightened.

She didn’t know where her courage came from, but with his intelligence and wit, she was certain he’d long since figured out everything. Since Lin Qin’er had been here to seek him out, and I came back empty-handed, he must have known that Lin Qin’er had also sought me out. Hence, he gazed at me with such a heated look in his eyes while wearing a half-smile when I’d misspoken earlier. As this thought occurred to her, her grip tightened yet another a fraction as she hugged his waist tightly. “I’ll… I’ll keep you company. I’m not going anywhere!”

Her soft hands that seemed boneless were wrapped around his waist, and though her grip was punishing, Han Qing didn’t feel any pain at all. Her youthful and sweet fragrance wafted through the air. His entire body was discomfited since he’d been drugged, but after she’d recklessly thrown herself at him, the scorching heat that he’d dispelled through a cold shower rushed through him again without any regard at all. Initially, there was only a faint sheen of perspiration on his forehead, but his veins were now slightly visible, making it seem as though he was attempting to restrain himself. She’s still so young, so how can she lose something so important to her because of someone else’s fleeting mistake? As this thought came to mind, Han Qing repressed his voice and ordered in a cold voice, “Let go of me. Be a good girl, Yan. Listen to me and take a shower first, then go to bed.”

“I don’t want to do that.” Yan hugged him all the more tightly, biting her lower lip hard, almost making it bleed. It was as though she’d made a momentous decision. “I-I’m your girlfriend. I-I-I-I… can help you out…”

Han Qing was rendered speechless. Her voice diminished in volume toward the end, most likely due to her shyness and embarrassment, just like a cat. Meanwhile, her words were tantamount to claws that gently raked across his heart, causing a touch of pain to further suffuse him. “Silly girl, didn’t I say that I won’t hurt you just now? Don’t fuss anymore.”

As his words fell, he pried away her hands that were tightly wrapped around his waist. Yan had mustered a great deal of courage in hugging him earlier, so now that she’d been pushed away, she suddenly lost her confidence and had no guts to step forward anymore; she merely stood there blankly and gazed at his back, biting on her lower lip as she tried to speak yet stopping short. Lin Qin’er’s words echoed in her mind—if a man doesn’t have any interest in his own girlfriend, you know what it means, no? No, she couldn’t allow her mind to wander at this time. She’d made things clear with Lin Qin’er, so she couldn’t fall prey to the discord she’d sown at this moment!

As her thoughts came to this, she slowly walked toward Han Qing, but she didn’t reach out to hug him. Instead, she walked to his back and cautiously clarified, “I… don’t think this is hurting me. I’m your girlfriend, not a stranger on the street. Plus…” She paused for a moment, her hands that hung at her sides clenching into fists in her anxiousness. Taking in a deep breath, she slowly continued, “Plus, I… am willing.” Her voice was exceedingly soft when she uttered the final few words, so she didn’t know whether he heard her.

Han Qing’s body jolted. Naturally, he was aware of her feelings and had been a long time ago.

After Yan had finished speaking, she mustered her courage again and stepped forward when she received no response from him after a long time. Once more, she reached out and wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her cheek against his back. “Therefore, you don’t have to be worried about me.”

Her wrists were suddenly grabbed, and Han Qing pulled her to his front, staring dangerously at her through narrowed eyes. “Do you know what you’re actually saying? Under such circumstances, you’re telling me that you’re willing?”

Fury stained his eyebrows and eyes, causing Yan to feel somewhat at a loss. Her lips parted for a moment, but in the end, she still nodded wordlessly. After all the teasing she’d put him through, she could sense that his palm was considerably hotter than before, and it felt as though her wrists were being roasted over an open fire when he grasped them. Her temper rose as well, and she suddenly tilted her head up while biting her lower lip. “I’m indeed willing! I’m your girlfriend, so such a thing is normal. I’ve said that I’m willing, so why are you reluctant? Don’t tell me it’s because you don’t like me enough that you’d rather suffer in such a situation than touch me?”

Han Qing was struck dumb.

“Is it truly as Lin Qin’er said, and you’re not at all interested in me, so you’re unwilling to touch me? If that’s really the case, then I’ll…” Before she’d even finished speaking, Han Qing abruptly leaned down and scooped her up before striding toward the side of the bed in the inner room. Yan felt the world tilting before her back touched the soft mattress. Immediately after, Han Qing pinned her down. Her eyes widened, and her breathing came to a sudden stop. W-What is this?

Gripping her fair and slender wrists, Han Qing raised them over her head. His obsidian eyes were a pool of scorching fire, while his voice was exceedingly hoarse. “Silly girl, do you know that saying those words infuriates me?”

Yan was bold and audacious in her speech earlier, but now that a masculine aura was spreading all over her body, she quickly grew scared. “I—mmph!”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1250

All of a sudden, Han Qing kissed her. The world went silent, and everything was quiet. All that was left was the heartbeat that pounded from the surge of emotions. Thump… Thump, thump…

Yan felt as though her heart was about to leap out of her chest, slamming against her ribcage wildly like a small deer. Her hands were raised high above her head, and at this moment, even her fingertips were trembling. Undeniably… Undeniably, she was the one who was so bold and audacious in her speech and provoked him, so it was too late to be scared now. However, while she was scared, there wasn’t a shred of regret within her.

As a probable result of the drug, Han Qing’s thin lips were extremely hot to the point that they almost scalded her. In the beginning, she was a tad nervous, but she later gradually closed her eyes under his guidance. His kisses were like fire, searing her on the lips, forehead, nose, chin, neck… She gradually fell into a trance of ecstasy. The heat spread from her neck to her shoulders. Just as she thought that everything would happen naturally and develop smoothly, a weight was suddenly lifted off her body, all the sensation and warmth disappearing in a puff of smoke. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw him pulling the covers over and draping them over her.

“Huh?” Yan didn’t understand what was happening, and she looked at him in mild bafflement. “W-What are you doing?”

Glancing at her, Han Qing glimpsed her sultry gaze, the tint of luster on her lips, and the marks he left on her fair neck. Intense irritation welled up within him, for he’d distinctly restrained himself very well, but his self-restraint was shattered because of a few words and insignificant gestures from her. He stared at her for a long time, his thin lips pressed tightly into a straight line; it was glaringly obvious that he was suffering much in holding himself back. “Silly girl, we can’t do so yet.”

We can’t? What does that mean? Yan couldn’t understand, but judging from his words, he obviously wouldn’t continue. She wanted to flip the covers on reflex, but as though he’d anticipated such a move from her, he rolled her with the covers right away, wrapping her up like a burrito. She was thunderstruck.

“Stay here obediently. I’m requisitioning the bathroom tonight.” After saying that, Han Qing got up and left, leaving Yan stunned on the spot alone for a long time.

When she’d snapped back to her senses, she’d already heard the bathroom door slamming shut with a bang, followed by the click of the lock. At this time, understanding finally dawned upon her. She wanted to get up, but she was trapped in the covers. Having no other choice, she only managed to free herself by rolling once, upon which she swiftly raced to the bathroom door. Two steps in, however, she realized that her outer garment had been pushed up, and even the hooks on her bra had been unhooked. Recalling everything that had transpired earlier, her face flushed, and she hastily fixed her appearance before walking over to the bathroom. She twisted the doorknob, and sure enough, it had been locked. The sound of water running drifted out of the bathroom. As she pounded on the door, she hollered, “Come out! I said I’m willing, so why are you so reluctant? I’m a girl, yet I don’t mind. Meanwhile, you’re a man, but you’re such a coward? Han Qing, hurry up and open the door!” The only response was the sound of running water.

Yan was infuriated. Her face was stained scarlet, and while it was partly due to embarrassment, a major part of it was fury. They were already midway through, but he abruptly stopped and would rather escape to the bathroom to take a cold shower, claiming that they couldn’t do so yet. Although she’d never done it before, she at least knew what was involved in the process! They were already so close, yet he could still pull back without any problems. As her mind turned to how he was enduring the torment while the cold water rained on him, her heart clenched, and she wept as she hammered on the door. “Open the door! Say something, and answer me! Why can’t we do so now? I don’t mind at all, so are you so reluctant… because you have some unspeakable reason?” As she neared the end of it, her voice even carried a faint tinge of tears.

Suddenly, the sound of running water in the bathroom stopped. Tears were streaming down Yan’s face from her anxiousness earlier. As she pounded on the door, she was just about to speak again when the bathroom door swung open. As soon as the door was opened, she threw herself forward and hugged Han Qing without regard for anything else.

Han Qing hadn’t even had time to dry off the water droplets on his body, so he was at a loss when she hurtled into his arms.

Hugging him, Yan exerted all the might she possessed into this embrace upon seeing him lift his hand again as she said in a muffled voice, “Han Qing, if you dare push me away again tonight, I’ll leave this room at once, and you’ll definitely regret it!”

Han Qing’s hand that was raised stilled in midair. After a long while, his huge palm fell onto the top of her head, covering it gently as he stroked her. “You only know how to threaten me.” His voice was immensely hoarse, colored with a trace of exasperation and great exhaustion. “Where can you go now in the middle of the night?”

Snorting, Yan muttered, “Why do you care where I’ll go? If you don’t want me, then it’s none of your business.”

The voice above her head sounded all the more exasperated. “Who doesn’t want you anymore? Why are you always letting your imagination run wild?”

“If you want me, you wouldn’t have pushed me away at such a time and even ignored me.” As Yan said that, she raised her head and lifted her petite face to meet Han Qing’s gaze. “Tell me truthfully, are you suffering from some unmentionable disease?”

Han Qing was dumbstruck. The tips of his eyebrows twitched, and he looked at his own young lady speechlessly. He merely felt that it’d be an insult to her under such circumstances, but she’d actually managed to come up with such dramatic reasons, even going so far as to consider an unmentionable disease. Stretching out a hand, he pinched her cheek hard. “What nonsense are you spouting? Are you hoping that your boyfriend has an unmentionable disease?”

The young lady’s cheek hurt slightly from the pinch, and she instinctively wrinkled her nose as she countered, “If you’re not suffering from an unmentionable disease, why didn’t you continue?”

“You’re just too much.” Han Qing sighed in exasperation. Leaning down, he hugged her slender shoulders, his voice tinged with immense exasperation. “We don’t even have legal ties between us and have yet to collect our marriage certificates, so how was I supposed to proceed?”

Hmm? At first, Yan didn’t understand his meaning. After pondering for a while, understanding dawned at once. Flushing, she blurted something shocking. “A-Are you… proposing to me?”

Dumbfounded, Han Qing burst out laughing. Her thinking is indeed different from the average person. However, he’d indeed meant that as well. He wasn’t a person who easily fell for someone, and once he’d made his choice, he wouldn’t change his mind anymore. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have waited so long to reciprocate back then, and later, it was also because he could no longer rein in his feelings. When he’d decided to get together with her, he’d also made his choice.

Only after asking that did Yan realize how dumb a question she’d asked. After all, he was merely mentioning it casually and had no intention of proposing to her, yet she’d impulsively mistaken his meaning. How mortifying! This is embarrassing! She bit her lower lip. “I-I’m sorry… I misperceived it earlier. I—”

“Silly girl, how can this be considered a proposal?” Han Qing kneaded the back of her neck gently, his voice still as deep and hoarse. He, Han Qing, had only ever loved this young lady alone in his entire life, so if he were to propose at such a time and place, wouldn’t he be shortchanging her? A marriage proposal was something exceedingly important, so it required a grand gesture and meticulous planning at the very least.
