Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1261

“Even so, do you still want to take me away?”

“Are you really sure someone will find out about your fake death? Maybe they’d think you died in a really bizarre way? I can fake it for you, you know.”

Jiang Xiaobai smiled confidently. “Trust me, nothing can hide from the sun. Sooner or later they’re going to find out. We can make a gamble if you dare.”

The man didn’t look too happy, though he was being more and more satisfied about Jiang Xiaobai, to the point that he admired her. In the end, he made a bit of struggle with himself before slowly letting her hand go. “You are one heck of a woman, missy. That I concur.” Jiang Xiaobai looked at him in displeasure, saying nothing. “Also, I want to say that I did fall for you for a bit there, but then I noticed that you’re really strong, so even if I managed to get you, I might be unable to keep you down. Oh, what unfortunate joke fate plays on us.”

Jiang Xiaobai’s lips twitched. “Piss off. Fate does not play a joke on us. Now that you have no plans, can we go back now?”

The man smiled. “You still want to go back? Aren’t you worried about meeting someone like me? Honestly, I want to live a quiet life, so I was shocked by your plan. My advice? Don’t come to places like these ever again, especially if you don’t have friends. They target girls who are alone. If you come across fugitives, they might kill you.”

Jiang Xiaobai arched her eyebrow when he said this, surprised that he would be this honest. It was a pity what he did made Jiang Xiaobai dislike him, so she went back, saying nothing. However, instead of going back to her seat, the man watched as she went to her ‘boyfriend.’

Xiao Su was downing his wine in quiet frustration. He leaned against the bar counter, holding his glass. The man looked decadently sexy under the light’s shine, for he was too nonchalant.

When a woman was about to hit it up with Xiao Su, Jiang Xiaobai had already come to his side and sat down. Xiao Su didn’t even look at her, nor did the look in his eyes change.

Jiang Xiaobai asked the bartender to make her another glass of wine. The bartender was the same one who served them the last time they came here, so he felt amused to see them sitting together, though he quickly went to work. After sipping her drink, Jiang Xiaobai said, “You’re cruel. Someone you know gets into danger right in front of you, and you didn’t even plan to help them.”

When he heard that familiar voice, Xiao Su frowned and looked beside him. Then he met Jiang Xiaobai’s gaze. “It’s you?” Xiao Su looked surprised to see her.

HUH? Jiang Xiaobai gritted her teeth angrily. I’ve been here for a while now, and you didn’t see me? Jiang Xiaobai didn’t simply point at anyone and called the person her boyfriend, for she wouldn’t just ask a stranger to do that. She had the guts to do it because she recognized Xiao Su. She thought he would help him, but she didn’t expect him to not know that she was here the whole time. What the heck?

She couldn’t calm herself down no matter what, so the woman looked at him angrily. “Am I that ordinary to you? Is that why you didn’t notice me even after I was here for a while?”

Xiao Su was perplexed about why she was angered, his look of confusion a jarring match to the scar on his face. Jiang Xiaobai did say it right, even though it was sarcastic. He didn’t notice she was there, so the man was surprised to hear her familiar voice. However, he quickly realized that this must be the same time as when she asked him to be her pretend boyfriend. The man pursed his lips, his confusion gone, replaced by his usual calmness. “Anything?”

What? What’s with that attitude? Jiang Xiaobai wanted to smack the back of his head, but then she thought she wasn’t in any position to. Even though they knew each other, and even though Jiang Xiaobai did give him her first kiss, they didn’t actually know each other, strictly speaking. Even if he did notice her and just watch as she was taken away, she had no right to blame him, let alone now that he didn’t notice her being there. Even though that was the truth, Jiang Xiaobai still felt dejected anyway. She bit her lip and laughed in forced arrogance. “Can’t I come to you if I have nothing to ask of you? I saw you drinking here all alone, so I came to be your drinking buddy for the night.” She then swayed the glass in her hand. “And you’re paying for me tonight.”

“But I didn’t promise you anything,” said Xiao Su.

Jiang Xiaobai turned on her shameless mode. “I gave you my first kiss, so you have to say yes.”

Um…

He couldn’t find any good retorts for that, so the man glared at her. Jiang Xiaobai noticed his ears were turning scarlet, but if she didn’t look closely, she wouldn’t have noticed it, for his expression was tense. “Hey, I didn’t know you would get embarrassed this easily. Look, your ears are turning red, and all I said was to ask you to treat me.”

Xiao Su wanted to deny it, but now that Jiang Xiaobai had pointed it out, he couldn’t do it anymore. Jiang Xiaobai was almost turning scarlet too, but her ears were covered by her long hair, so it was unnoticeable. Besides, she showed no emotion on her face, so the woman kept on teasing Xiao Su. “Hey, it couldn’t be your first kiss back then too, right?”

Well…

Jiang Xiaobai noticed his ears reddened even further, and she felt that Xiao Su looked cute this way. He’s a guy, and yet he gets embarrassed from being teased a bit. Oh, he’s so adorable. She suddenly felt like pranking him, so the woman tried to touch his ear, but before she could touch him, he held her hand. “What are you doing?”

Jiang Xiaobai was taken aback, but then she said, “Nothing. I thought you looked cute with your ears turning scarlet, so I wanted to touch them.”

The corner of Xiao Su’s right eye twitched, and he pursed his lips in displeasure. However, he had underestimated how shameless Jiang Xiaobai could be. The woman was still looking at his ears and insisted, “Just let me touch them. I’ve never touched a guy’s ears before.”

Damn it.

“You’re a guy, so it won’t harm you if you let me touch it, right?” Jiang Xiaobai approached him, her fragrance swirling around him. Xiao Su frowned, for her face and lips were only mere centimeters away from him.

The man suddenly let go of her and said angrily, “You wish.”

You wish?

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1262

This again? Jiang Xiaobai pouted. After she kissed him last time, he thought he had been taken advantage of. When Jiang Xiaobai asked if he wanted to kiss her back, he looked at her the same way and made the same reply. He made it sound like I want to kiss him! Jiang Xiaobai glared at him angrily. “What’s wrong with you? You’re a guy, and I’m a girl. I just want to touch your ears, so why are you making it look like I want to rape you?”

Xiao Su smirked in disdain. “Are you not?”

Hmph! Jiang Xiaobai couldn’t find a good comeback, so she angrily decided not to touch his ears anymore. It’s just ears! As if I haven’t touched them before. Then, she thought about the fact that she had never touched a man’s ears in her life. Ah, I want to touch them. She thought Xiao Su’s reddened ears were adorable. Jiang Xiaobai wasn’t sure when she had this kind of fetish, but from now on, she would be struck by the impulse of touching Xiao Su’s ears when they were reddened up.

She pulled her hand back and quickly reached out for his ears. Before Xiao Su realized what was happening, she covered his ears and squeezed them, then she patted them before taking her hands away. It didn’t even take three seconds for the whole thing to happen. After having his ears forcibly touched, Xiao Su looked at the molester in shock. She was looking smug after doing what she wanted. “I’m going to touch it even if you don’t let me. And I did it.”

Xiao Su’s ears reddened up again, then he mumbled angrily, “You pervert.”

Jiang Xiaobai listened closely, then she arched her eyebrow when he called her a pervert. “What did you call me? A pervert? Alright, since you’re calling me that, I have to live up to my infamy by touching your ears.” She then stood up and tried to touch his ears again. Since he knew what was coming, Jiang Xiaobai failed this time. Xiao Su held both her hands, and he glared at her angrily.

They were standing close to each other. When she noticed his ears reddening up further, she winked at him seductively like a horny woman. “Why are you holding my hands?” She had a big smile on her face, but her eyes gleamed cunningly, as if she was a little vixen. Xiao Su was stunned by how she looked, and it took him a while to snap out of it. The man was about to tell her something, but Jiang Xiaobai wasn’t going to give him a chance, so she said, “Do you want to touch me too?” She wanted to say, Do you want to touch my ears too?

However, she omitted the last part of her question, keeping only the first part in her actual question. That way, she would make it sound like he was also a pervert. Xiao Su’s face flushed from being angered by how shameless she was, and he couldn’t find a good retort.

He wanted to call her something nasty, but when he recalled how she defended her in the elevator back then, the man pushed it down. “Hmph!” He flung her hand away and turned back, not looking at her again.

“You aren’t looking at me, huh? That is just giving me a chance to touch your ears again.”

Xiao Su looked back at her the moment she teased him, his gaze dark. “What do you want?”

Jiang Xiaobai’s expression darkened when she thought of her current situation, looking like a hurt little kitten. “Nothing. I saw you, so I came to say hi. I mean, I know you, so why are you so mad at me?”

I’m mad at you? Xiao Su chuckled dryly and waited for the other shoe to drop.

As expected, Jiang Xiaobai couldn’t hold it in for too long if he didn’t ask her, so she said, “Um, I want you to be my pretend boyfriend again.” Before he could refuse, she quickly said, “Since I’m asking you for help, you don’t owe me anything. Take it as me asking you for a favor, so you can ask for my help anytime you want. But if you think my favor isn’t good enough, you can ask for something else as a reward.”

Xiao Su frowned at her proposal. “I thought I told you that was a one time deal.”

“Yeah, but situations change, see. Fate loves to play me for a fool, so please help me. You don’t have anything to do anyway. Well, aside from drinking in bars when you’re upset. My side hustle is a therapist, so if you help me, I can help you get over your breakup.”

A therapist? That’s your side hustle? Bullcrap.

Jiang Xiaobai gave him the puppy-eye look when he said nothing. She hung her head low, looking like a sad little Persian cat. “I don’t have anyone else I can ask for help. Men are dangerous nowadays. The one I met only wanted to sleep with me instead of singing with my soul.”

Huh? He had to say that the woman before him was a cheeky one, and she would always pull off weird stunts. Sometimes, she would pull something horrifying. What did you mean they wanted to sleep with you instead of singing with your soul? That isn’t something girls should say, and even if they do, they won’t say it to a man! “Aw, help me, please. I am a good cook, and I know how to make a lot of snacks. Name anything you want. You’re living alone, right? I can make your meals for you.”

Make my meals for me? Xiao Su was tempted by this offer. Ever since Young Master Ye started caring for his wife and children, he delegated all the company matters to him, for Young Master Ye only trusted him. Thanks to that, Xiao Su spent his days working tirelessly, only resting in the night. Even though he was exhausted, that didn’t mean he could sleep at any time he wanted. That was why Xiao Su would drink a few after work so that he could numb himself and forget about a certain someone for the time being. After he woke up the next day, it would be a new beginning again. If she’s going to cook for me…

“What do you think? It’s an awesome idea, really. I can just go to your place, and my mom won’t nag me all day, every day.” Jiang Xiaobai was not someone who would just go to any guy’s house and stay there. She also knew how dangerous men could be, but she knew that even if she were to stand naked in front of this guy, he would probably just turn away, not even sparing her a look. This guy is a safe one. I have to make him my pretend boyfriend, or I can’t find anyone suitable if I miss him.

“Let me think about it.” Xiao Su didn’t agree immediately.

“What? You need to think about it?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1263

“Do you have any objections?” He glanced at her.

She quickly shut up. “No, not at all. Take all the time you need to think right now. I’ll be waiting for your answer right here.”

Right here? She’s a stubborn one, he thought. The man pursed her lips and stayed quiet for around a minute.

Jiang Xiaobai asked, “How is it looking? Have you made a decision?”

Xiao Su frowned at her and reminded, “It’s only one minute.”

“Is that so?” Jiang Xiaobai tilted her head and blinked at him. “And I thought it’s a century already.” Xiao Su thought she was kidding, so he didn’t answer her, but a minute later, she asked again, “Are you done?” Nope, he thought. “What is taking you so long? Tell me.” Xiao Su didn’t want to listen to her, and he refused to talk. She asked me two times within two minutes.

Jiang Xiaobai wasn’t angry at him being silent, so she waited as time passed. Xiao Su was quiet, but at the same time, he thought, She can’t be asking me every minute, right? He then counted the time quietly. Another minute later, Jiang Xiaobai looked at him as scheduled. The man could feel his expression stiffening up.

“How’s your consideration going, Mr. Xiao? You won’t get another chance like this if you miss it.”

“You can’t be thinking of asking me every minute if I don’t tell you my answer, can you?” Jiang Xiaobai nodded, while the corner of Xiao Su’s eye twitched. This girl is really…

“So, what will it be? Will you agree to me now, or do I have to ask you every minute?”

Xiao Su glanced at her nonchalantly. “Is this your strategy?”

“Yeah,” Jiang Xiaobai admitted it without hesitation, then she approached him, her face nearly touching him. She was a girl, but it was as if she didn’t know about it, nor did she think she was being too close. “Are you going to say yes?” She beamed.

Damn it. He looked away and said nothing, shocked by her approach.

Jiang Xiaobai tugged his sleeve. “I’ll take it as you agreed to it if you’re not saying anything.” Xiao Su said nothing, so Jiang Xiaobai grinned. “Alright, so from now on, you’re my boyfriend.”

Xiao Su frowned when she mentioned he was her boyfriend, so the man looked back and corrected her, “Pretend boyfriend.”

“Oh, I know that, honey.” Jiang Xiaobai patted his shoulder. Delighted by him agreeing, she went and held his arm.

“What are you doing?” Xiao Su was on high alert as the girl suddenly approached him and leaned against him. He could smell her perfume lingering around him.

“Nothing. I just want you to get used to it, since you’re my boyfriend. It’s normal to be this close from now on, no?” Jiang Xiaobai blinked, feeling that this wasn’t a big deal. Her mother was a perceptive person, so she would find out about them being a fake couple if they acted too stiffly, so Jiang Xiaobai wanted to practice.

However, Xiao Su was averse to this. After he listened to her explanation, the man held her hand and pried it away. “We are just a fake couple. Aside from specific events, we have to stay clear of each other. You cannot stay too close to me, and you can’t touch me.”

Jiang Xiaobai snorted at him. “Why? Are you saving yourself for the person you love? But she has someone she likes, so no matter how you value yourself, she won’t come back.”

Xiao Su’s heart ached at the mention of this. That girl has gone on a trip with another guy, and it’s a honeymoon trip specially prepared by the young lady. She wants them to fall in love quicker. Maybe they’ll get married after they come back from the trip. Xiao Su smiled bitterly at the thought of that. “You think too much.”

Am I? I don’t think so. Jiang Xiaobai patted his shoulder, for she pitied him. “Don’t worry. Now that you’ve helped me, I’ll help you in return. I will help you get over this lost love!”

Since they had come to an agreement, Xiao Su sent her back on his way home. After Fang Tangtang was done watching her idol’s show, she saw that a man was by Jiang Xiaobai’s side when she came back. She quickly dragged Jiang Xiaobai away and whispered, “What happened? I went to listen to a few songs, and you managed to pull it off? I thought you said you didn’t want to trouble him.”

“Oh.” Jiang Xiaobai said matter-of-factly, “Change of plans. The situation has changed, you see.”

Fang Tangtang asked, “Does that mean he agreed to be your pretend boyfriend?”

“Yeah, I don’t have to worry anymore. Though I don’t know how long it will last this time.”

Fang Tangtang smiled mischievously. “Hmm, you can make him into your actual boyfriend. He looks decent.”

“It’s not like you’ve met him that many times, so how do you know he’s decent? Through his looks?” Jiang Xiaobai glared at her. She thought of how Xiao Su pushed her away when she teased him about having him be her real boyfriend back then, so she said, “It’s impossible.”

“Impossible? Why? Are you that uncharismatic you can’t even settle a man? You disappoint me, Jiang Xiaobai.”

“Go back if you’ve messed around enough. It’s getting late.” Jiang Xiaobai left after that. She didn’t tell Fang Tangtang what she had encountered earlier. Xiao Su noticed she came back rather quickly, while the girl beside her was sizing him up and waved at him shyly.

“Hi, I’m Fang Tangtang. Xiaobai’s friend.”

Xiao Su nodded politely, his expression neutral. “Hello, Xiao Su here.” He sounded aloof, but also calm, which made Fang Tangtang like him more.

Jiang Xiaobai was stunned. She could never forget what he did to get her to help him with his script back then. She could never forget how he threatened her on WhatsApp and how he came into her house to drag her out from the warm embrace of her bed. Then he forced her to write the script. In the end, he even pulled a handful of her hair off. Now look at him. Being all polite, wow.

“It’s late, so I’ll send you two back.”

Jiang Xiaobai replied, “Are you going to drive? But you drank alcohol, so it won’t be too convenient, no? Why don’t my friend and I get a ride back?”

“I’ll send you guys back.”

Fang Tangtang stood beside Jiang Xiaobai as they followed behind Xiao Su. Then, Fang Tangtang said, “Xiaobai, this man looks a bit aloof, don’t you think?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1264

Aloof? Heh. Jiang Xiaobai chuckled. “It’s just the façade he puts on, so don’t be fooled by it.” Even though they hadn’t met each other a lot ever since they knew each other, Jiang Xiaobai thought she had seen through the kind of person Xiao Su was. Then she noticed that the man was adorable, especially when his ears got red from embarrassment.

Though it’s frustrating that he acts like he’s the one who gets molested every time. Every time she was with him, Jiang Xiaobai had the feeling that she was a thug who harassed highschool girls in anime, and Xiao Su was the highschool girl. Sigh. Instead of driving himself, he called someone to send them back first. However, Fang Tangtang the wily woman called her driver to pick her up as Xiao Su was calling his driver to send them home. She then went into her car and didn’t even ask them to come with her, all because she wanted to create an opportunity for her friend. The moment she closed the door, the car drove away, leaving them in the dust.

Jiang Xiaobai coughed violently, choked by the dust. She then thought, You cheeky girl, you. Just take us if you have a car. You don’t have to ask him to get a ride for us. She wanted to say that to her friend, but Fang Tangtang was already gone. She then looked at the man beside her. He was standing there motionless, his expression inscrutable. Hey, I can put on a resting b*tch face too. Jiang Xiaobai smirked and gave a look that said ‘Come at me, bro.’ When Xiao Su sent her back to her house, Jiang Xiaobai took out her phone and asked Xiao Su, “Why don’t we add each other on WhatsApp?”

Xiao Su was hesitating, but before he could say anything, Jiang Xiaobai said, “We’re a couple now, so that’s not a hard request, no? We’re just making it easier to contact each other.”

Xiao Su gazed at her and corrected, “A fake couple.”

Dang it. The corner of her lips twitched when he went all pedantic with her, then she replied, “Alright, alright, we’re a fake couple. I get it, so you don’t have to remind me 24/7. Come on, let’s add each other. Should I scan your code or you scan mine?” Xiao Su opened his WhatsApp calmly, then he let her scan his code. After they managed to add each other, Jiang Xiaobai smiled. “Alright. I’ll call you if I need you. Send your location to me. I’ll go over tomorrow.”

“I know. You can leave now.” Jiang Xiaobai left, feeling satisfied. He watched her for a long time before looking away. The man looked ahead quietly, his thoughts hidden from the world.

On the other hand, Yan and Han Qing had returned from their trip. Since their flight started a bit late, it was already midnight when they touched down. Han Muzi had planned to welcome them back, but Ye Moxuan stopped her. He said it was already past her bedtime, so she didn’t have to welcome them back, and since Yan was with Han Qing, she had people to take care of her. After listening to Ye Moxuan, Han Muzi thought that it was logical.

She’s not alone. She has Han Qing with her, and they’re a couple, so I shouldn’t be the third wheel. Han Muzi texted Yan to tell her she wouldn’t be going to the airport, and that she would have to go home on her own. Yan had just disembarked when she received the message, and her face fell. ‘I thought you said you’re coming to get me, Muzi. Why the change of plan?’

‘I’m tired. I want to sleep, so go home by yourself.’

Yan said, ‘You don’t see me as your friend, hmph.’

Han Muzi replied, ‘I don’t see you as my friend? If I were to take you back now, you’re going to have to sleep with me tonight. If I don’t, you’ll be going home with my brother. So what’s your choice?’ Yan chose the latter. ‘Hmph.’ Han Muzi sneered. ‘Who’s not a friend now?’

‘Me,’ Yan replied.

Good. This girl knows her place. When she was about to chat more, someone took her phone away. Han Muzi looked back and saw that it was Ye Moxuan, and the man was looking at her with dissatisfaction. “What’s wrong?”

Ye Moxuan put the phone aside and wrapped his arm around her waist, then he touched her nose. “It’s late, and Little Sprout’s asleep.”

“Yeah, she’s behaving tonight. Sleeps early, doesn’t she?” Han Muzi nodded, apparently didn’t think that this was a problem.

“I took her to the room next door.”

Han Muzi raised her eyebrow. “Next door? There’s nobody in there. I don’t think it’s good to let her stay there alone…” Before she could finish, Ye Moxuan kissed her. Worried about her daughter, Han Muzi pushed him away and said, “It’s not safe for her to sleep alone, so bring her back, now.”

Ye Moxuan nibbled on her neck and said calmly, “Don’t worry. She’s sleeping soundly, so she won’t be awake for at least a couple of hours.”

“What if she does?” Han Muzi was worried, for she could feel Ye Moxuan’s hand touching her everywhere under the blanket.

“There is no what if. She has been sleeping this way recently.” Ye Moxuan sounded raspier.

Han Muzi wanted to stop him, but she started becoming horny because of him teasing her. The woman bit her lip and grabbed his collar. “But…” Then, she was kissed, and that stopped her from talking.

Back at the airport, Yan kept her phone and looked up at Han Qing. “Um, Muzi said she won’t be coming because it’s late.”

“Okay,” Han Qing replied calmly, thinking that this was nothing to worry about. He tidied her hair and straightened out her collar, then he said warmly, “Mr. Nan is waiting for us outside, so where should we go tonight?”

“Um…” Yan blushed, for Han Qing’s finger brushed against her face when he straightened her out. Even though it was a small touch, it made her heart jump. However, the thing that surprised her most was that Han Qing was actually asking where they should go. Is he inviting me? Will we do some hanky-panky stuff then? Just because of his question and minor gesture, Yan started imagining things, and then it made her turn scarlet.

What is this girl thinking? He squinted at her. She seems to take everything the wrong way easily. Han Qing wanted to take her back to his place because sending her back to her home might disturb her parents at this hour. That was why he wanted to ask her opinion, but then she blushed. Han Qing flicked her on her forehead.

“Ow.” Yan gasped, ruining all the sexual thoughts she had in mind. She held her forehead and looked at him angrily. “Why did you do that?”

“You haven’t answered my question. Should we go back to my place or yours?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1265

Yan’s eyes widened. “I thought you were inviting me to your home, so why did you change the tune? You’re so insincere!” She then looked down and ignored him. The girl’s head hung low, showing the back of her round head. Han Qing was amused, then he patted her on her head.

“Oh, why did you say that? It’s not convenient to go to your place this late at night. Let’s go to the villa. Sky’s waiting for you.”

Sky? Sky! Yan was pumped up thinking about that adorable ragdoll, so she looked up, feeling excited. However, it died down quickly after she remembered something. “Sky doesn’t seem to like me. It doesn’t let me pet him.”

“Maybe it’s because you petted him too much. He’s afraid of going bald.” Han Qing petted her head.

Yan swatted his hand away. “Then stop petting me. I don’t want to get bald too!”

Han Qing wasn’t mad that she swatted his hand away, then he hugged her. “Let’s go to where Sky is then. Mr. Nan is waiting for us outside.”

“Oh, okay.” It was already the dead of the night when they came to Han Qing’s private villa. Everyone was tired after a day of running around, so Han Qing didn’t disturb her. All he did was tell her good night, then the man allowed her to rest. Yan wanted to play with Sky, but the cat disappeared the moment he saw her. No matter how she coaxed him, he refused to come out. Left with no choice, all she could do was lie on the bed and sigh toward the ceiling. And here I thought something might happen, but no. He went to his room, and I came here.

Wait, what am I thinking about? It’s the dead of the night, and he’s asleep. How can I even think about riding his wiener! Since when did I become so perverted? Yan was flustered, then she turned around and covered herself with the blanket, but a minute later, she pulled it away and sat up. Oh no, it has been a few days since then, and I didn’t take any morning-after pills. Will I get pregnant? But it’s hard to get pregnant after doing it one time, but then he came inside multiple times that night. The woman twiddled her fingers and bit her lip, then she lay back down on her bed again. Why did I worry? It’s better if I do get pregnant. He’s not worried, so why should I? Besides, if I do get pregnant, maybe we can get married just like that. Yan hugged her pillow and rolled around at the thought of that. Oh, how embarrassing!

Han Muzi received that woman’s call the next morning. The woman called her to say that she had troubled her over the last few days, so she couldn’t stay at the hotel anymore. She said that she had gotten a job, and the employer provided her a place to stay, so she would move after a couple of days. The woman even told her that she would pay Han Muzi back after she got her pay, and she would treat Han Muzi to a meal. The woman sounded really grateful.

Han Muzi told her that since their families used to be friends, this was nothing for her, and she shouldn’t think too much about it. However, the woman told her that she had to repay her debts, for if it wasn’t for Han Muzi, she might still be wandering around aimlessly right now.

Han Muzi lamented this. She wondered what the woman had gone through. Judging by her attitude and manners, she must have come from a good family, so Han Muzi wondered what pushed her to this state. However, she was in no position to ask if the woman decided not to tell, for this was a personal matter. After chatting with Han Muzi for a bit, the woman asked about Han Qing.

She asked Han Muzi about the time Han Qing would come back, and that surprised her. The woman was a quiet person, and she didn’t do anything over the last few days, so Han Muzi almost forgot about her existence. Now that she had mentioned Han Qing, Han Muzi thought that she should trust her brother more on the topic of faithfulness, and besides, he came back last night. Han Muzi couldn’t tell a lie, so she said, “He came back last night, though he should be sleeping right now. I’ll tell him about this after he wakes up, and then I’ll try to arrange a meeting between you two. How does that sound?”

The woman quickly thanked her, “Thank you, Muzi. Really, thank you.”

When noontime came and Han Muzi was sure that her brother had fully rested, she called him to talk about this matter. Han Qing kept quiet for a moment, then he said a name, “Yanwan?”

Yanwan? When she heard the name, Han Muzi’s first reaction was, Wow, such a gentle name. She calmly said, “I forgot to ask for her name. She’s probably embarrassed to tell me, so she didn’t say. So, her name is Yanwan, huh?”

“I think so. That’s probably her name, but…” Han Qing paused, then he explained to her, “The Xu Family used to share a good relationship with our family, so we were friends. However, they migrated to Canada not long after mom’s death. We lost contact after that, but I didn’t expect her to come back. I wonder what happened to Mr. and Mrs. Xu. Are they all here?”

“Um…” Han Muzi told him that she only saw Xu Yanwan and nobody else. She thought her brother didn’t know how poor Xu Yanwan looked, so she briefed him about it.

“They went downhill?” Han Qing kept quiet for a moment. “What happened?” he asked.

“I’m not too sure about that.” Han Muzi was worried when she thought of what Xu Yanwan told the receptionist previously, then she thought of Yan. “Do you want to see her, Han Qing? I had her settle down in a hotel, so I can arrange it if you want.”

“Sure,” Han Qing agreed.

Han Muzi arranged a dinner at five. She handed Little Sprout to Ye Moxuan and was about to go out, but Ye Moxuan followed her with the excuse that he was worried. He insisted on bringing Little Sprout over. Then Little Bean wanted to follow them, for it had been a while since he last saw Han Qing. It was supposed to be a dinner for three, but it was now a dinner for six, including Ye Moxuan and two little kids.

Han Muzi looked at Ye Moxuan and Little Bean, then she complained, “I arranged this meeting for someone else, so why do you guys want to go? What if you guys make things awkward for them?”

Ye Moxuan’s expression was inscrutable. “It’s just old friends meeting, not a blind date, so how can it be awkward.” It was logical, for this was just a dinner, not a blind date, so there was nothing to feel shy about. For once, Little Bean supported his father, “Yeah, Mommy. Auntie Yan is going to be my aunt soon. If Uncle Qing is going to meet another woman, I need to look out for Auntie Yan in case Uncle Qing cheats.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1266

That woman was mysterious, and Little Bean had heard what she told the receptionist, so when he found out his uncle was going to meet that woman, the boy became alerted. He insisted on coming with his mother so he could supervise his uncle. Hmph, no matter what, Auntie Yan is going to be my aunt, nobody else.

Little Bean wouldn’t have been this determined before this, but ever since he found out that Yan had gone through a lot to get into this relationship she wanted, he only recognized her as his aunt. Ye Moxuan and Little Bean both had their own plans on coming together. Only Little Sprout was smiling sillily in her father’s arms. Ye Moxuan then pointed at her and told Han Muxi calmly, “See, Little Sprout wants to go too.”

The corner of Han Muzi’s lips twitched. Fine, just say it if you want to go. You don’t have to lie. She didn’t bother with them, then the woman sent a message to Xu Yanwan.

Since she wanted to make it easy for Xu Yanwan, Han Muzi reserved a place at the hotel she was staying in right now. With how close it was, even if she and Han Qing had arrived, Xu Yanwan could catch up with them if she took the elevator down. Han Muzi was staying at Seabay Villa, which was located far from the hotel, so she had to go out earlier.

Little Sprout messed around on the way. She would bite and suck on her knuckles, then the girl would play with her brother, amused by his antics. Thanks to this cheeky little girl, the air became livelier, and before they knew it, they had arrived at the hotel.

When Han Muzi was going to text Xu Yanwan, she noticed a familiar figure standing before the hotel’s gates. Oh, it’s Yanwan. Didn’t expect her to come down early.

Xu Yanwan smiled gently at Han Muzi and walked toward her. “You’re here, Muzi.”

Han Muzi looked at her in surprise. “I thought I told you to only come down after we arrive. If you’re here earlier, it’s going to be a long wait for you.”

Xu Yanwan shook her head and said gently, “No, it’s not really long. You came right after I came down.” Xu Yanwan had been waiting for half an hour. The woman was nervous the moment Han Muzi said she would arrange a meeting between her and Han Qing. It had been years since she met an old friend. Xu Yanwan grew up together with Han Qing, but then they lost contact. What a pity. That was why she came down and waited for them, for she was worried she might miss the chance to meet an old friend.

Han Muzi guessed she had been waiting for a while now, but she didn’t know how long the woman had waited. Even so, Han Muzi guessed that it must have been at least ten minutes. Judging by the passion in her eyes, she knew Xu Yanwan was looking forward to this meeting. The thought of that made Han Muzi regret her decision. Should I just call Xiaoyan and ask her to come over too? No wait, this is just two old friends meeting each other. Even though she told the receptionist that they were engaged since they were little, that had been a long time ago. They’re adults now, so what happened during their childhood had no bearing on the present. Adults should have their own mind.

Han Muzi didn’t dwell on this after she came to that conclusion. When she called her brother, he told her that he was still ten minutes away, so Han Muzi took Xu Yanwan and reserved a room for now. As Xu Yanwan followed behind Han Muzi, she noticed a man and a child, and also another girl in the man’s arms. Han Muzi smiled awkwardly when she saw Xu Yanwan staring at her family. “Let me do the introductions, Yanwan. This is my husband, my son, and my daughter.”

Xu Yanwan’s eyes widened, her expression surprised, but the woman quickly regained her composure. She then smiled. “Yeah, it has been years, and you’re not that little girl back then anymore. It is time for you to marry and have children.” She glanced at Han Muzi, Ye Moxuan, and their children, looking happy for them, just like she was their elder.

Han Muzi didn’t know how she should feel about this, for Xu Yanwan didn’t look like she was older than her that much, but still she looked at her with that motherly gaze. This is… curious.

At this moment, Xu Yanwan asked almost nonchalantly, “You’re married and is a mother now, so what about your brother? It has been years, so he must be living a happy life now, no?”

Han Muzi was shocked that she would ask this herself. She then thought about it and concluded that this woman wasn’t stupid, for she asked this question. With how famous Han Qing was in this city, it was easy to find out about his relationship status. This sounded like a casual question, but it was actually a probe to see what the reality was. If Han Muzi didn’t think more about this, she would have thought it was a simple question, but with Yan in mind, she couldn’t not think more on this. The woman smiled and answered vaguely, “Oh, him? He’s quite happy now.” He has a girlfriend, so of course he’s happy. She was talking the truth. As for what Xu Yanwan would think after hearing that, she couldn’t be bothered. She wasn’t that acquainted with Xu Yanwan, so Han Muzi wouldn’t tell her too much.

As the woman talked, Ye Moxuan and Little Bean looked at each other and said silently, Women are scary.

They came to their reserved room not long after. Since Han Qing was arriving soon, Han Muzi had the waiter serve them the food the moment she sat down. She was planning to sit with Xu Yanwan, but Ye Moxuan and her son flanked her the moment she sat down. Oh, these two are just…

Xu Yanwan didn’t think much about it. She smiled at this scene and sat down across from them. She was a socially capable person, so even if Ye Moxuan and Little Bean hadn’t sat down beside Han Muzi, Xu Yanwan wouldn’t have sat down beside her when her whole family was here. The woman wasn’t that oblivious, and she even praised, “You have a loving family.”

Han Muzi nodded with a smile. She could see that Xu Yanwan was a well-mannered woman. Even though she thought Yan was outstanding too, the young lady would have lost all confidence if she saw someone like Xu Yanwan before this. Now, Han Muzi was relieved that Xu Yanwan appeared in this stage of life instead of an earlier stage.

No wait, the fated love will only appear to their counterpart. Time has nothing to do with this. She and Ye Moxuan became a couple after five years. They loved each other, and none of them could let it go, so even though it had been five years, nobody could stand between them.

That was why even if Xu Yanwan were to appear earlier, it made no difference, for Han Qing wouldn’t change his decision once he had made it. After making this clear, Han Muzi eased up.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1267

Han Qing came late, and to be exact, twenty minutes later than their promised time. The moment he came into the room, the first thing he said was, “Sorry for being late.”

Han Muzi arched her eyebrow. She knew her brother well, so she knew he valued punctuality a lot. If he said he would come after ten minutes, then he wouldn’t go over that time, even if for a minute. Now that he was twenty minutes late, she knew something must have tripped him up on the way.

“Did you get stuck in the traffic, Uncle Qing?” Little Bean suddenly asked.

Han Qing looked at the boy and said calmly, “It was something else. Oh, you guys are here too.” He looked at Ye Moxuan and Little Sprout, who was in his arms. The man and the boy flanked Han Muzi, as if they were worried she would run away. At this, Han Qing heaved a sigh of relief. He thought his sister would be a single mother to Little Bean back then, but as time passed, she now had her second child. Well, that’s not bad, really.

“Han Qing.”

As he dwelled in his thoughts, a gentle, trembling voice called out to him.

Han Qing looked at the direction where the voice came from, then he saw an elegantly dressed, gentle-looking woman standing there, looking at him with almost unbridled excitement. He thought she looked strange, but when he related it to the girl in his memories, the woman started looking familiar now. Han Qing’s gaze started turning gentler. “It’s you. Are your parents still fine?”

Xu Yanwan didn’t know how to describe what she was feeling right now as she met her childhood friend. The woman had a lot to tell him, but she could say nothing. On her journey to see Han Qing, the woman had also gone through a lot of trials and tribulations, so after he asked her about her parents, she teared up. Even though she had tried her best to control her emotions, the prolonged period of loneliness and fatigue took a toll on her. Now that she had seen the one she wanted to see the most, the woman almost broke down. The atmosphere started becoming weird, then Xu Yanwan quickly turned around to wipe her tears. It took her some time to turn back. Her eyes were puffy from crying, misty still. The woman smiled and said gently, “Sorry, it has been a while since I met an old friend, so I teared up a bit. You won’t mind, will you?” She looked at Han Muzi and her family while asking this question. Her eyes were not just on Han Qing.

Han Muzi shook her head with a smile. Han Qing kept quiet for a moment, then he took a piece of tissue before going up to her. “Wipe your tears.” Xu Yanwan apologized, then she took it.

Little Bean felt annoyed seeing this. Even though he knew that aside from breaking down and tearing up, the woman did nothing else, Little Bean still felt irritated. The reason? His uncle handed her a tissue paper. But he remained silent, and turning around, the boy met his mother’s gaze.

Han Muzi flicked his forehead and whispered, “Don’t take this the wrong way. Aunt Yan will be your aunt, and that will never change.”

Little Bean snorted even though his mother saw right through him. “I wasn’t minding that.”

“Really?” Han Muzi poked on his forehead. “You’re my child, so do you think you can hide your thoughts from me?”

Han Muzi knew what he was thinking the moment he insisted on following her. After living together with Yan for so long, his wish was to have her be his aunt. When he found out that a woman who used to be engaged to his uncle was here, he was the most nervous person out of all of them. Little Bean snorted and said nothing, though he didn’t deny what his mother had said.

Then, everyone sat down, and Xu Yanwan calmed down. She started talking to them, but Han Qing noticed that she didn’t answer him when he asked her about her parents, so he thought something must have happened. He shouldn’t be asking if she didn’t want to tell him, but the man thought something must have happened to cause her to come to him. “What happened to your parents, Yanwan?”

The moment her parents were mentioned, Xu Yanwan quieted down. After a while, she slowly answered, “They’ve passed on.” What?! Everyone around the table were shocked, including Han Qing, and especially Han Muzi. However, she thought that was plausible. If it weren’t for Mr. and Mrs. Xu’s death, Xu Yanwan wouldn’t have come out alone.

Han Qing took a minute to process the truth, but then his expression darkened. “What happened after you and your family emigrated back then?”

Xu Yanwan looked at him and bit her lip, then she smiled bitterly. “Our family lived a decent life after the emigration. My father would end up wanting to invest in a project, but the capital needed was too much, so we partnered up with someone, and then…” She paused for a moment, then she said, “And then something happened. Something was wrong with the project, and our family was in a huge pile of debt. Even though we filed for bankruptcy for the company, we didn’t manage to pay it back.”

Han Qing paused for a moment, then he pursed his lips. “Why didn’t you tell me?” With how friendly their families were, the Han Group wouldn’t just stand by if the Xu Family had asked for help.

Xu Yanwan explained calmly, “It wasn’t a small sum. On the contrary, it was astronomical. Putting it simply, the whole thing was a trap. Our family was done for, so we couldn’t drag any other family into this. My father was a headstrong man, so even if it hadn’t been a trap, he wouldn’t have asked anyone for help.”

Han Qing thought about the late Mr. Xu. Every time he saw him, the middle-aged man would have this stern look on his face. Everyone thought he was hard to get along with, but Han Qing knew he was a good man. Even though the man was strict, he had his own brand of justice, nor would he show any preference for any child. Even Xu Yanwan was brought up well under the family rules. If he had asked for help, Han Qing wouldn’t have refused him. However, he knew nothing about this crisis that had happened, so he thought Mr. and Mrs. Xu must have forbidden anyone from talking about it. That should be why Xu Yanwan only came for him after her parents had passed. Han Qing didn’t know what he should feel about this.

“You don’t have to think too much about this. My father had always been that way. Even at his last moments, he told me he would never beg anyone for help his whole life. He said he wanted to take on this himself, and that only if he could get over this without help would he stand tall and proud. But it’s sad that he will never have that chance anymore.”

Pitter, patter. Xu Yanwan’s tears fell again, so she wiped it with the tissue. Even though she was crying, the woman was also smiling. “You don’t have to feel guilty about it, Han Qing. My family’s gone now, but I will work hard from now on.” Han Qing said nothing, though he nodded approvingly.

“I wanted to come back and see you a long time ago, but our family’s problems struck us way too early. It had been years since bad luck befell our family.” Xu Yanwan only had the chance to come back after her parents’ demise and after she had settled her family problems.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1268

Silence possessed them for a long while. Han Muzi was surprised that the whole thing would be so dramatic, and that Xu Yanwan bore it all alone without even saying a thing. Even though Han Muzi wasn’t particularly close to her, she was moved and impressed by this woman’s resilience after hearing her story.

Xu Yanwan wiped her tears away and regained her gentle composure. She smiled, her voice calm. “Do you guys think I’m in the gutters too? I think I’m fine, since all the worst days are behind me now. My father used his life in exchange for my future, so I will work hard.” I will never let my parents die in vain, she thought.

After that meal, Han Muzi had changed her view toward Xu Yanwan. Han Muzi might have been a bit hostile toward her earlier, but now, that hostility had vanished. She even thought that it was crude of her to be unkind toward Xu Yanwan because of Yan. With how she was brought up, Xu Yanwan wouldn’t be a mistress and take away someone else’s beloved. If she knew that Han Qing already had a girlfriend, she would just leave him quietly and not cling onto him, for that was how she was brought up. With how proud her late father was, this woman wouldn’t stoop so low either. When they came out of the hotel, Han Muzi asked her, “What’s your plan now? Do you have a place to go? It’s good to rely on yourself, and even though you don’t want help, sometimes asking for a hand does go a long way for you.”

Xu Yanwan gazed at her and thanked her, “Thank you, Muzi. I understand what you’re trying to say, but I plan to find a job and work my way up. That was my father’s wish for me, and I don’t want to disappoint him.” She made her thoughts clear.

Han Muzi smiled, then she said softly, “Your father didn’t want you to beg for help from someone else, but our families are friends, so we aren’t ‘someone else.’ Besides, you didn’t ask us for help. We offered our help willingly.” Xu Yanwan was taken aback, for she didn’t seem to think this was possible. “What about it? Am I right? If we help you from the dark, you won’t even know, and that’s not going against your wish, isn’t it?”

The moment she said that, Xu Yanwan went up to hug Han Muzi. “I’m happy you could think for me that way, Muzi, but I’ve decided to work my way up. My father had protected me too much, so I didn’t know that the human heart could be so cruel. If it wasn’t for my family’s crisis, I would still be living my days out in ignorance. I came to you not for help, but to fulfill my wish. I wanted to come back a long time ago, but I had too many things to handle, so I didn’t have the chance. Now that I’ve seen you and your brother and know that your lives are well, it’s time for me to pursue my own life.”

Han Muzi was touched to hear her being so resilient, and it made her like this woman more. She thought that her brother would definitely help, since their families were friends, though she wondered if Xu Yanwan would accept it. If she kept this up, then the woman probably wouldn’t get too close with Han Qing. Little Bean seemed depressed on the way back. He hung his head low and said nothing, while Little Sprout was asleep. Ye Moxuan covered her with a layer of blanket to keep her from the cold. Han Muzi noticed her son wasn’t looking too happy, so she asked, “What’s wrong?” Little Bean shook his head sadly. “Oh, you’re all grown up now, huh? And you have your little secrets.” Han Muzi patted his head and leaned closer to him. “Let me guess. Aunt Yanwan is too outstanding, so you’re nervous and panicky.”

How did she… He looked at Han Muzi in frustration. No wonder she’s my mom. I can’t hide anything from her. “Hmph.” He snorted. “No I was not. Aunt Yan is the best. I like Aunt Yan the most.”

Han Muzi resigned. “Well, kids will be kids. Your uncle and Aunt Yan are already together, so what are you worried about? Are you worried that Aunt Yan isn’t good enough? Or are you worried about your uncle being unfaithful?”

Little Bean said unhesitatingly, “The second one!”

Han Muzi replied, “If Yan was here, she would be complaining about you. You shouldn’t badmouth her boyfriend that way.”

“Hmph, Aunt Yan loves me the most. She wouldn’t do that to me.”

“Not necessarily. Once she becomes your aunt and has her own child…”

“Mommy! You’re trying to ruin my relationship with Aunt Yan!”

“Oh!” She patted his head and smiled. “You got me. You’re my son, but all you talk about is Aunt Yan, and all you think about is her. Why? Can’t I be jealous and pull something here?”

After giving it some thoughts, Little Bean went to hug his mother and rubbed up against her. “Can you not let Aunt Yanwan meet Uncle Qing that much? Also, Aunt Yan will just become my aunt, not my mommy. You’ll always be my mommy, the person closest to me in the world.” He further rubbed up against her and gave her the puppy-eye treatment. Well, boys are really great at wheedling. She was about to say something, but Ye Moxuan picked his son up by his neck and pulled him away from her. “Let me down, you bad daddy!”

Ye Moxuan’s expression was inscrutable. “Leave my woman alone.”

Little Bean replied, “No! She’s my mommy! The closest person to me!”

Ye Moxuan looked at her and pursed his lips, then he looked at his son. “I’ll get you a wife when we go home, so stay away from my woman.”

Oh god, stop this, you two. They started bickering, and the more they fought, the more explicit it became.

Han Muzi pretended not to hear it. When Little Bean tried to snitch on his father, Ye Moxuan took him back, so all the boy could do was tug on his mother’s collar like a little chick. “Mommy, daddy’s bullying me. Help me, mommy.”

Little Bean looked hurt, as if he had been bullied by someone. Han Muzi felt heartbroken after glancing at him, so she looked at Ye Moxuan. “Stop bullying him. He’s just a child, so why are you being so serious?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1269

Little Bean looked at him smugly. “Hear that, daddy? Bully me, and mommy’s going to leave you.”

Ye Moxuan sneered. Oh, threatening me, huh, brat? The first time they met, the boy slapped him, perplexing the man. After that, he would always set Ye Moxuan up, and that made Ye Moxuan realize that this boy was no ordinary kid, so he no longer saw him as a child. “The man sneered. “Really? Your mommy’s my woman, and I’m your daddy, so if you’re going to be naughty, I’m going to spank your booty.”

“Ye Moxuan!” Han Muzi shouted at him. Ye Moxuan snapped out of it and glanced at her. He saw the woman looking at him angrily. “What did you tell the kids? What do you mean spank his booty? Nonsense! Why are you trying to teach them such nonsense?” Little Bean looked at his father smugly when his mother scolded him. “Also, what do you mean you’re going to spank his booty if he’s naughty? Does my opinion not matter?”

D*mn it. Ye Moxuan couldn’t be as hard as he did on his son, so the man replied softly, “Of course not. You call the shots in the house, dear. All I have to do is care for Little Sprout.” The old Ye Moxuan wouldn’t do or say something like this. The man probably didn’t think the day would come where he would listen to his wife and become a househusband as well as the children’s nanny.

Everyone in the business world took this as a fun fact when they heard the news, and it became a conversation starter of sorts. However, Ye Moxuan didn’t mind what everyone spoke of him now that he had his own family. Besides, he didn’t go to the company now, aside from the times where there were important meetings. All the shareholders in the company talked fondly of Han Muzi, praising her for keeping her husband in check. Before she appeared, Ye Moxuan would always have that stern look in the company. Every meeting was intense, and everyone did everything carefully, for they were worried that if they made one small mistake, they would incur the wrath of this powerful man.

Little Bean covered his mouth and chuckled when he saw his father looking this way. Having a wife is scary, since you have to listen to her in everything. I don’t want to get a wife when I grow up. I want to live by myself, the boy thought.

Jiang Xiaobai went to Xiao Su’s place early in the morning. She went there right before Xiao Su went for work, so the man gave her the keys when he saw her, his expression inscrutable. Jiang Xiaobai jangled the keys in front of him and smiled faintly. “Say, we don’t really meet that much, no? And trust isn’t something we share. Are you just going to give me the keys like this? Aren’t you worried I might take everything away?”

Xiao Su glanced at her. “Try it if you can.”

Jiang Xiaobai tsk-tsked. “I am not that kind of person, and I am famous, okay? Well, not that much, but I won’t want to ruin my reputation anyway. If I stole something from you, you can just search me up online. Also, you know where my home is, so even though I can run away, you can absolutely mess up my place, so don’t worry.”

“I need to go to work, so just do your own stuff.”

After Xiao Su had left, Jiang Xiaobai entered his house. She took a stroll around his place and understood what he meant before he left. Emptying your house? You have nothing here! Not even a thief wants to break in, okay?! She angrily called Xiao Su, but it took a while before he picked it up. “What the hell is this?” Jiang Xiaobai asked him angrily the moment he took the call.

Xiao Su was driving at the moment, so he frowned. “What is it?”

“What the hell is this? I came here to cook for you, and this is how you treat me?”

Xiao Su didn’t know what she was saying, so he frowned even deeper. “Spit it out.”

“Don’t play dumb, Xiao Su! You only have a rice cooker at home, and nothing else. Oh wait, there’s a fridge, but it’s EMPTY! You want me to cook without ingredients? This is impossible!”

Oh. Xiao Su paused. “This is how I usually am. Just make some simple dishes.”

“Simple dish?” Jiang Xiaobai looked at the empty kitchen, at a loss of what she should say. The woman then thought of something and asked incredulously, “You can’t be cooking for yourself like this all this while.” Xiao Su was thinking of something, so he grunted. Jiang Xiaobai didn’t know what she should say after he had admitted to it, so she kept quiet for a while.

After a while, he explained, “I spend a lot of time working, so I don’t really have the chance to eat at home.” Before Young Master Ye started becoming a full-time househusband, he was already busy going around with him. It was normal for Ye Moxuan to drag him up at midnight to work. Besides, he was a man, so being full was his priority, not the taste. Sometimes, he would just settle his meal outside. If he had time, he would make a simple dish at home.

Jiang Xiaobai thought he was playing her, but after listening to him, she realized that this man probably didn’t pay much importance to his meals. After guessing how he usually lived, she said with frustration, “Alright, I understand. I’ll do what I can. Talk to you later.” After hanging up, Jiang Xiaobai put her hands on her hips and looked into the kitchen. She had only one word to describe a kitchen like this—shabby! He’s not poor, so why does he only have a rice cooker and a fridge? Does he put all the ingredients in the cooker and cook them together?

Unbeknownst to her, Jiang Xiaobai guessed it correctly. All she thought was that she couldn’t take it if her kitchen looked like a dungeon. The woman felt like killing herself when she thought that she had to come here to cook for a while. Because of that, she went out a couple of minutes later, taking the keys with her. Fang Tangtang then called her to invite her out. She said the shops down the street were holding an event where everything had a discount, and they were giving away free gifts.

Jiang Xiaobai had just purchased a toaster, a microwave, an oven, and a steamer. She was looking at the pathetic state of her e-wallet, heartbroken. How could she ask me to keep on spending? So, the woman refused without hesitating. “No!”

Fang Tangtang was surprised. “What’s wrong with you? You would usually skip around like a child at this point, so you should be saying yes now. What happened?”

Jiang Xiaobai looked at the money she had spent and said with a steely resolve, “No, I’m going broke, so I have to watch where I spend my money. I can’t spend more now.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 1270

Fang Tangtang didn’t know what happened, so she questioned her friend. They were great friends, and Jiang Xiaobai couldn’t withstand the onslaught of questions, so she told Fang Tangtang what had happened. After she was done listening, Fang Tangtang chuckled. “Hahahahaha! You know what, Xiaobai? I have the feeling that you’re a nanny now.”

Jiang Xiaobai gripped her phone tightly and sneered. “What did you say? Say it again. Make it sound better, hmm?”

“Hey, I was telling the truth. Listen to yourself. That was a dumb proposal. How could you propose to go to his house and cook for him? Modern women like us have no desire to cook, nor do we know how to. Men being in the kitchen is the trend now.”

Jiang Xiaobai was doubtful. “Really? I’m a dumb kid, so I’d get angry if you lie to me.”

“Hey, that’s true. Don’t you even know about this? You’re an avid Internet user.”

Jiang Xiaobai pursed her lips. “That’s not the same thing. We’re in a contract now. He pretends to be my boyfriend so I can trick my mom, while I take care of his meals. This is a fair deal, so I am not his nanny.”

Fang Tangtang sighed. “You’re one hardworking woman. But this is a deal where he doesn’t even care what he eats, so just make something simple for him. You don’t have to go so far.”

“No! Being serious is my life motto, especially when it comes to food! Food is sacred, so how dare you ask me to disrespect them? Sacrilege! I am not that kind of person!”

Fang Tangtang pouted. “Well, true. I didn’t know a shut-in like you know how to cook. That’s really rare, but you don’t even get fat, d*mn it.”

Jiang Xiaobai liked this about herself, so she smiled. “Yeah, I don’t get fat at all. Come at me if you have a problem with that.” Even though they were both foodies, Fang Tangtang would get fat easily. If she so much as had one more grain of rice, her weight would skyrocket, so she had to control herself.

Fang Tangtang gnashed her teeth angrily, but she couldn’t do anything about it. Then she thought of something and smiled smugly before suggesting, “Xiaobai. I don’t think you have to spend so much to buy all these. I know you’re a foodie, but think about this. If you have to cook for him in his house every day from now on, why don’t you ask him to go to your place to eat? Won’t that work too?”

Jiang Xiaobai was taken aback, then she realized what was happening. Yeah, why did I limit my thinking? He didn’t stop me from choosing where I cook, so he can choose where he can eat too. If I can cook at my own place, I can just ask him to come over. I won’t have to run back and forth then. She thought this was a good idea, so she coughed. “W-What if he doesn’t want to? What if I anger him and he refuses to be my fake boyfriend?”

“So what? He said there will be no next time previously, so why did he agree to it this time? Just use the same way you did to make him say yes. I think he’s a really easily swayed man, so you can try it.”

Use the same way? Jiang Xiaobai bit her lip. She thought that if she did that again, the man would ask her to piss off, but she digressed. After she snapped out of it, the woman said, “Let’s talk about this later. I can ask him about it, but he might not agree to it. Besides, he works at a place far from my place.”

“Okay, so don’t buy those things then. Refund them and come with me to shop.”

“Are you kidding me?”

“I am not. Just don’t buy it and move all your stuff there. You might be cooking for him, but you need to eat too. Why don’t you have your meals with him and just go home at night?”

Huh, that’s interesting, Jiang Xiaobai thought. Fang Tangtang was a cheeky girl, so it wasn’t beyond her to think this way. Even though it sounded ludicrous, doing it this way could save her a lot. After hanging up, Jiang Xiaobai trotted to the sales assistant who was packing her things up for her. She smiled. “Um, I don’t want them anymore, so can I have a refund?”

D*mn it. Are you playing me? You came here and told me to pack all these things up, and then you swiped your card to pay. And now you’re telling me you don’t want them?

Jiang Xiaobai smiled awkwardly when she saw that the sales assistant wasn’t looking too happy. “Why don’t I take a step back and pay you a hundred as compensation?”

Man. The assistant still helped her with the refund in the end. Since she was here, and the items hadn’t been packed up yet, they could do nothing if she wanted a refund. Even so, the sales assistant didn’t take her money. All she did was tell her to think clearly before buying the next time. The girl looked downtrodden.

Jiang Xiaobai asked for her number when she saw the girl looking so sad. “Don’t feel down. I’ll add you into my contacts so I can ask for you no matter where you work. I’ll ask for you even when I marry and move out, okay? And I’ll recommend you to my relatives if they want to buy something.”

“That’s fine then. Don’t go back on your promise.”

“Yeah, I am a trustworthy person, so don’t worry.” Jiang Xiaobai left after that. She called Xiao Su to ask him if he was okay to have his meals at her place, but he didn’t take her call. As time passed on, Jiang Xiaobai decided to move her stuff to his home instead of asking him. If he disagreed, she would just move all her stuff back.

Xiao Su had just finished a video conference. He was overloaded with work lately ever since Young Master Ye threw his job to him, and he gave Xiao Su a promotion. Even though Xiao Su could now do anything in the company, he would rather be an assistant. No wait, being his assistant is a nightmare too. As long as it’s related to him, he would just exploit me. Xiao Su sighed. When he was about to get a cup of coffee to pump himself up, the man noticed a few missed calls and messages in his phone. Jiang Xiaobai? What’s she doing calling me?

‘Hey, when are you getting off work? Will it be too early if I cook right now?’

‘No response? Still busy, are you? Reply to me when you’re done.’

‘Hey, it’s late, but you’re not responding yet. Fine, I’ll go ahead and cook. You come back early, okay?’

She added a lot of adorable emojis at the end of her messages. It was a plump, vivacious avatar, and it looked a lot like Jiang Xiaobai. It was at this moment that he found out Jiang Xiaobai’s profile picture was a plump, white little guy. There was a red bandana on the fat guy’s head with a few words written on them. ‘10000-word update all-day, every day!’
