Jiang Xiaobai felt drowsy. She wasn’t able to sleep until four last night, and it was only around seven in the morning did she feel sleepy. As long as she closed her eyes, she could immediately fall back to sleep. The fact that she was able to hear Xiao Su’s voice and listen to his responses was already not easy. When she was in Xiao Su’s arms, she felt intensely warm in his embrace. Unintentionally, her body even rubbed against his embrace.

Jiang Xiaobai was dead asleep. When she was carried, she only made a small sound before falling silent again. Upon seeing her in such a manner, Xiao Su figured that if anyone were to barge in and kidnap her, she probably would still be dead asleep. He then carried her into the bedroom, and left after a moment.

When Jiang Xiaobai awakened, it was nearly noon. She was still a little sleepy, and when she was sleeping, she felt that the sun was shining directly on her face and her eyelids, which made her extremely uncomfortable. After being rebutted by Fang Tangtang, Jiang Xiaobai became clear-headed. Somehow Fang Tangtang’s words sound reasonable.

“Hehe, make me! Anyway, let’s go to the bar tonight!”

“…Get lost!” Jiang Xiaobai shouted as she hung up the phone. She stared at it with much anger, and her arms crossed as she recalled the conversion.

There was no possible way I would fall for Xiao Su! Never in my wildest dreams!

She then placed her phone down and went into the kitchen to make lunch.

When Xiao Su came home from work at noon, the face that welcomed him was an angry, puffed-up Jiang Xiaobai. She even slammed the cutleries on the table and made a fuss.

With his brows scrunched up, Xiao Su asked who made her angry but Jiang Xiaobai merely rolled her eyes and responded by saying, “No, who could have made me mad?”

Xiao Su stayed silent for a few seconds then asked as he raised his brows,“Did something go wrong with your script?”

Since he had never seen this side of Jiang Xiaobai before, he thought that she got angry because of work. Though they sometimes might have some bickering, her temper had always been calm.

“Why would you assume it’s because of my work?” Jiang Xiaobai glared at him.

Xiao Su wanted to say he was just simply implying.

Jiang Xiaobai continued, “It’s definitely not related to work!”

“What was it then?”

“Can’t you just stop asking?”

Jiang Xiaobai suddenly felt irritated by Xiao Su. Plus, the thought of what Fang Tangtang had said made her even more annoyed. Her mind was stuck with the image of Xiao Su carrying her into the bedroom this morning.

Even until this moment, she wasn’t able to get the thought out of her head, which made her mind even restless. Jiang Xiaobai felt that Xiao Su was the main culprit for her stress.

“Finally remember me? Want to have fun with me tonight?” Fang Tangtang answered her call with much excitement.

“Let’s go!” Jiang Xiaobai responded casually. “The night is specially reserved for us! It’s too boring cooped up in the house all day. I need to relax once in a while.”

So like two peas in a pod, they went back to the same bar, and the reason they did so was because Fang Tangtang had a crush on the singer of this bar. Although it was not clear how long he’d stay, he would be performing here for at least a few months.

Hence Fang Tangtang became a regular here. As usual, Fang Tangtang squeezed past the crowd to see the man. On the other hand, Jiang Xiaobai went to the bar and got a drink for herself.

The bartender was still the same guy. He glanced at Jiang Xiaobai and quietly asked, “Hey, your boyfriend’s not here with you?”

“Who told you he was my boyfriend?” Jiang Xiaobai asked gruffly after listening to what he said.

The bartender blinked. “You’re sure he is not?”

When she came to this bar for the first time, she did say that Xiao Su was a stranger but later admitted that they were friends. In the end, she even took him away. It was no wonder the bartender misunderstood her relationship with Xiao Su.

Later that night, they even met again and sat together. That was probably again why the bartender thought they were a couple, because of the flirtatious and playful atmosphere between them.

Looking at his expression, Jiang Xiaobai realized that no matter how she explained, he would not believe her. So she gave up on explaining and asked the bartender for the same drink she got last time.

“Alright then,” the bartender replied.

Throughout the night, she silently sipped her drink alone.

Seeing her under the weather, The bartender came over to ask, “Did you have a fight with your boyfriend?”

“Yeah, you’re totally right.” She finished her drink in one breath and pompously said, “Give me another drink.”

“If you keep drinking like this, you’re gonna get drunk fast,” the bartender reminded her.

“Impossible. I didn’t even get drunk last time. Besides, you already know that I’m here to drown all my sorrows, so I can drink as much as I please.” Jiang Xiaobai squinted at him with her chin held high.

“Right.” The bartender could only do as the customer wished.

Jiang Xiaobai’s gaze started to wander after she had three drinks in a row. When Fang Tangtang came back to chat with her, Jiang Xiaobai’s words began to slur. No matter how hard Fang Tangtang tried, both of them could not get on the same page. In the end, Fang Tangtang was irritated and furiously scolded the bartender, “You gave her all these drinks?”

“Don’t blame me. I’m just doing as she orders. There is no reason for me to refuse doing business, right?” The bartender shrugged his shoulders innocently.

His words seemed reasonable, so Fang Tangtang moved her attention to Jiang Xiaobai and consoled her, “Are you feeling okay? How on earth can I focus my attention on my crush if you’re in such a state!”

“Tangtang… why are you here? What are you here for?” Jiang Xiaobai narrowed her eyes.

Fang Tangtang was speechless, and she started to get irritated. Gosh, she doesn’t even know why she’s here anymore.

“I’m here for the guy of my dreams. What else would I be here for then? Gosh, you’re as drunk as a skunk.”

“Was your friend dumped? Why not try calling her boyfriend? Ask him to come by,” The bartender walked over and mysteriously suggested.

Fang Tangtang wanted to refute back by saying that Jiang Xiaobai was single, but looking at her current drunk state, she decided to go with the bartender’s suggestion when she remembered what Jiang Xiaobai had told her in the morning.

Squinted her eyes toward the bartender, Fang Tangtang asked, “How did you know she got dumped? Did she tell you?”

The bartender nodded. As though a lightbulb had just lit up in her head, Fang Tangtang stopped talking to Jiang Xiaobai and merely coaxed her to sit on the barstool before taking her phone from her.

After scrolling through Jiang Xiaobai’s contacts to find Xiao Su’s phone number, Fang Tangtang made a call to him.

When Fang Tangtang came back, Jiang Xiaobai was already lying on the countertop, yelling at the bartender, “One… one more glass for me…”

“Your friend still wants a drink; should I give it to her?” The bartender frowned worriedly at Fang Tangtang.

Remembering the call that she just made as she looked at Jiang Xiaobai’s current state, Fang Tangtang shrugged.“Just give it to her.”

Hearing that, the bartender unwillingly gave Jiang Xiaobai another glass of drink.

After getting her drink, Jiang Xiaobai obediently sat there while she sipped her drink, not making any more fuss. Fang Tangtang knew that she couldn’t leave Jiang Xiaobai alone before Xiao Su arrived, so she just stood beside Jiang Xiaobai to guard her.

She shook her head helplessly when she saw Jiang Xiaobai blanklessly sipping her drink.

Why is this person drinking her booze as if she was drinking milk…

“Xiaobai.” Fang Tangtang gently called out her name then continued on saying, “Listen to me, this is your last drink okay? After this glass, let’s go home; do you understand?”

Jiang Xiaobai did not answer, nor did she refute either. She was immersed in her drink, and Fang Tangtang didn’t even know whether she had taken in her words.

Seeing that, Fang Tangtang could only shake her head. Then she gently patted Jiang Xiaobai on her shoulder, and softly whispered, “This is your last drink. Let’s stop after this.”

“What did you say?” Jiang Xiaobai innocently asked as she held her head high and finished her drink in one big gulp. You could see that her face was glowing red as she glanced at Fang Tantang.

Fang Tangtang was baffled. Gosh! This is so irritating!

“I said you are not allowed to drink anymore! I’ll ditch you at the streets if you keep drinking! Do you hear me?!” Fang Tangtang’s lips twitched.

Fang Tangtang’s suddenly blew her top, looking as though she was about to explode.

Jiang Xiaobai was taken aback when she saw Fang Tangtang’s furious reaction. Therefore, she just blankly looked at Fang Tangtang in silence. Then, she lay on the countertop as she pouted her lips saying, “Fine, I’m not drinking anymore.”

“Xiaobai, you’re a good girl. Just wait here for someone to come fetch you, then go home and have a good night’s sleep, okay?” Fang Tangtang responded by stroking her head, although she was surprised that Jiang Xiaobai was suddenly cooperating.

“Um, sure…” Jiang Xiaobai obeyed while she continued to rest on the counter to wait quietly.

The bartender was shocked by Jiang Xiaobai’s behavior because she had always appeared rambunctious. Most of the time, she would wear a very loose fitted T-shirt paired with a pair of baggy pants, which did not seem girl-like at all.

Not only that, she had single-handedly dragged Xiao Su out of the bar just recently, which left the bartender with the impression that she was a tough cookie.

So she’s the kind of girl who is born with a pretty face but a heart of steel, the bartender thought to himself.

He never would have thought that she had this cute side of her. Not being able to hide his feelings, he took a closer look at Jiang Xiaobai who was unconscious and slowly drifted into his thoughts.

“Ahem…” Only then did the bartender realize his actions. He awkwardly rubbed his nose, saying, “Nothing.”

“Don’t fool me! Are you falling for Xiaobai now? She’s already taken. Do not try making a move on her, or else I will break your arms. Are you clear?” Fang Tangtang angrily expressed.

The bartender felt perplexed after he was suddenly called out by Fang Tangtang. He could not understand why the seemingly gentle lady could look so ferocious.

“Me?” Fang Tangtang froze for a second then laughed. “I’m fine. I have other stuff to do, so Xiaobai is under your care now, bye!”

Fang Tangtang then immediately disappeared out of sight.

It was too late for Xiao Su to say anything. He still found it odd that Fang Tangtang would call him over since she and Jiang Xiaobai were best friends.

Shouldn’t it be more appropriate for Fang Tangtang to call her family if Jiang Xiaobai was this drunk?

Appalled by his look in Xiao Su’s eyes, the bartender quickly waved his hand. “Fine, just pretend that I’ve never said a word.”

Then the bartender turned to entertain the other customers.

Meanwhile, Xiao Su reached out for Jiang Xiaobai’s arms and picked her up.

Jiang Xiaobai was sleeping soundly when someone suddenly grabbed her. Feeling dizzy, she bellowed, “Leave me alone!”

Her voice was firm, and there was not a sense of drunkenness in her voice.

If it weren’t for her blood-shot face and neck, one wouldn’t have thought that she was drunk.

Xiao Su started to become more and more impatient, his force strengthened almost crushing her arm. “Don’t you know how to control your drinking if you’re coming to the bar alone? You’ve drunk so much. Do you wish to be picked up by someone who would take advantage of your drunkenness?”

One night stands are even worse. Some of them had been found with their organs missing, or worse—their lives lost. As a woman, doesn’t she know how to treasure herself?

So, Xiao Su ignored her words and coldly said, “We’ll talk about it later.”

The bar was not a desirable place to talk as it was too crowded and the music was blazingly loud.

Xiao Su tried to pull Jiang Xiaobai toward the door, but she did not seem to want to move another step. She just stood there. She even held onto the barstool to show her unwillingness to leave.

“What are you trying to do? Are you still going to stay here and drink?”

Jiang Xiaobai hugged the barstool silently. Finally after sometime she looked up at Xiao Su.

“I want you to carry me back.”

Xiao Su was confused. He thought that he had heard wrong.

“What did you say?” he asked.

And to that, Jiang Xiaobai sternly said, “Carry me home.”

She lowered her head pitifully and said, “My head is spinning, I can’t move.”

The bartender almost laughed out loud after hearing this. He had already tried persuading Xiao Su to carry her but he would not listen. Now that she has spoken up, will he have the guts to reject her?

Xiao Su carefully examined Jiang Xiaobai for a while, and came to a conclusion that she was too drunk to know what she was doing. She also seemed uncomfortable as her face turned bright red.

When he thought of this, he pursed his lips and walked over. He squatted in front of Jiang Xiaobai and said, “I’ll give you a piggyback ride home, okay?”

“A piggyback ride?”

Hearing these words, she looked up at his face curiously. “Can’t you carry me?”

“If I give you a piggyback ride, you’ll feel more comfortable. You could also rest on my shoulders.”

Jiang Xiaobai seemed happy with the suggestion as she nodded with a wide grin on her face, “Alright then, give me a piggyback ride home!” She exclaimed with her arms wide open.

Jiang Xiaobai’s face was clean and pale under the blinding lights. One could see some powder left on her cheeks and neck. Her eyes seemed a bit dazed as she spread her arms.

Xiao Su froze for a moment, but quickly turned his back for Jiang Xiaobai.

Looking at his broad shoulders, Jiang Xiaobai jumped onto him without any hesitation. She seemed to have put in all her force because she had crashed her whole body onto Xiao Su’s back.

It almost caused Xiao Su to lose his balance, but he was able to regain his stability with both his arms on the floor.

He grunted as they could have been both flat on the ground if it weren’t for his quick response, not to mention the strength he had. He was caught off guard by how much energy Jiang Xiaobai held.

“Get up now! Get up!!!”

Jiang Xiaobai’s arms were wrapped tightly around Xiao Su’s neck once she got onto his back. The force on her arms felt as if it could have cut off his blood circulation, causing him to nearly fall over again.

“Don’t hold on too tight, I can’t breathe.” Xiao Su solemnly said as he grabbed her hand and squatted in position, ready to stand.

“Do you still want me to stand up?” he gritted his teeth.

“You can’t stand up if my arms are around your neck?” Jiang Xiaobai replied as she fluttered her eyes innocently.

“What do you think? Let go of me!”

Jiang Xiaobai let loose of her hands after being scolded by Xiao Su.

“…What I meant was for you to loosen your grip, not to take both your hands away. What would happen if you fall?”

After hearing his comment, Jiang Xiaobai wrapped her arms back on his neck. Although her grip was quite tight, Xiao Su was still able to breathe. So, instead of commenting any further, he stood up and walked straight out of the bar.

Jiang Xiaobai was grinning eye to eye as on his back. Her legs were swaying back and forth while she demanded Xiao Su to set off.

Xiao Su tried his best to stop her as he hurried toward the exit. She was quite light, so he did not feel any pressure when carrying her or giving her a piggyback ride.
