“My brother?” Tang Yuanyuan’s eyes sparkled when she heard that her brother was here for her. “Is he at the school gate?”
“Yeah. He said he will wait for you at the main entrance and specified that you don’t have to rush there. You can take your time.”
“Alright, thank you very much.”
“No worries.”
After that, Tang Yuanyuan returned to the bedside and told Meng Kefei, “Fei, my brother is here. I’ll ask him to take you to the doctor. You can’t continue like this.”
Two red spots appeared on Meng Kefei’s pale face when she heard Tang Yuanyuan say that she would ask her brother to bring her to see a doctor. “No. There’s no need for that. I won’t go.”

Even so, she refused to follow them to the hospital. Thus, she could only endure the pain as she got up and put on her shoes. She wanted to leave the dormitory and hide someplace for the time being. Unfortunately, she couldn’t even make it to the door before her vision turned black. In the next moment, she fainted and slumped to the ground; she was unconscious.
At the school gate, Zhong Chufeng stood leaning against the wall with one hand holding a large bag of snacks and the other stuck in his pocket. The weather was good today, and his mood was bright too. He seemed to have thought about something and the corners of his lips curved upward. After a while, he heard a rush of footsteps coming his way and guessed that Tang Yuanyuan had arrived.
“Yishu!” Tang Yuanyuan hastily ran over to him. When she saw that Zhong Chufeng was alone, the light in her eyes dimmed considerably. “Why are you here alone, Chufeng?” Didn’t that person say my brother is looking for me?
He watched as the light in her eyes vanished, feeling his heart viciously twisting in pain. “You’re making me sad, Yuanyuan. Didn’t I tell you before that your brother is very busy? So, only I can make it here to visit you.” Then, he handed the bag of snacks to her. “Look; I brought you a lot of tasty snacks.”
Sure enough, her eyes brightened again when she saw the food. However, she soon remembered something. “By the way, you came at just the right time, Chufeng. Fei isn’t feeling well. I wanted to bring her to the hospital to get her checked out by a doctor, but she refuses to go.”
“Meng Kefei?”
“Yeah.”
“What’s wrong with her?”
“She has been resting in bed for the past few days, but her complexion isn’t getting any better. Besides, she’s been eating very little. I don’t think it’s good to be like that,” she said as she tugged at his hand. “Chufeng, can you help me persuade her?”
“Let’s go.” Zhong Chufeng quickly followed after Tang Yuanyuan and entered the school.
As it was a female dormitory, males were not allowed into the premises. Thus, Tang Yuanyuan had to inform the dormitory caretaker that Meng Kefei was feeling unwell. She also mentioned that Zhong Chufeng was her brother, and he was here to bring Meng Kefei to the hospital. Only then did the dormitory caretaker agree to let him in. Even so, she followed them upstairs out of worry.
Soon, they reached the dormitory room. As soon as the door was pushed open, they found Meng Kefei unconscious on the floor. “Fei!”
The dormitory caretaker was shocked for a moment by the sight that greeted them. “Oh dear, why did she faint? Hurry up and take her to the hospital!”
Zhong Chufeng had a tall and slim build; he also had great strength. He immediately put the bag of snacks down, then crouched down to hold the unconscious Meng Kefei by the waist, and picked her up.

When he heard that, he paused, immediately catching on to the meaning behind her words. “Do you want him to come over?”

“Of course, it’s okay.” There was no way for him to reject her request in the face of her crying expression. “Wait here for a moment; I’ll give your brother a call.”
“Okay!”
After that, he walked out with his phone. Then, she closed her eyes and buried her face in her knees. Not long after, he came back.
“Chufeng?”
Zhong Chufeng made an awkward expression. “Um, your brother… didn’t answer his phone.”

Sleeping?
“Yishu would rather sleep than come out to meet me?”
Zhong Chufeng felt like punching himself in the face. What am I doing? Why can’t I even say the right things? He was trying to explain things, but he seemed to have made things worse. “It’s not like that, Yuanyuan. Your brother stayed up too late last night to study. When I was on the way out, I found him sleeping. So, I didn’t tell him that I was coming to find you.”

Tang Yuanyuan said nothing more. For one, she felt that it was an inappropriate topic to bring up under these circumstances while Fei was still in the emergency room. Also, she was tired and did not want to talk anymore.
They remained that way for a while. Then, the doors to the emergency room flew open and a doctor came out, informing them that Meng Kefei had many injuries all over her body. Both Zhong Chufeng and Tang Yuanyuan were shocked by the revelation as they had no clue about what had happened.
Annoyed, the doctor asked, “Who are you to the patient?”

“Yes, there are a lot of injuries.”
After listening to Zhong Chufeng’s explanation, the doctor did not continue to question them. They probably didn’t know the whole story anyway. “We can only wait until the patient wakes up to ask her about it.”

Her condition must have worsened over the past few days. That’s why things ended up the way it did.”
When she heard that, her eyes reddened again.
“Your Majesty, your tears finally stopped. Don’t start crying again. If you cry, I’ll have to take off my shirt and use it to wipe your tears for you.”
His latter sentence shocked her tears back to where they came from. How could she dare to shed tears again?

“I was too careless. I should have brought her to the hospital earlier.” Then, she realized something important. “Still, why didn’t she say anything despite how serious her injuries were?”
“There are many possible reasons as to why she was unwilling to talk about it. Maybe she doesn’t want to worry you, or she doesn’t want this matter to become a bigger issue. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have rested in her dormitory all by herself for so many days without saying a word about it.” Having said that, his expression became serious. “She probably ran into something troublesome.”
“Chufeng, should I report this to the teachers? Or, we could file a police report.” Meng Kefei had fallen unconscious. Thus, Tang Yuanyuan considered this matter to be very serious. It was probably something that could only be solved by reporting it to the police.
“Don’t panic yet. It already happened anyway. Let’s wait for Fei to wake up first. We’ll decide after we know what’s going on.”
“Okay.”
Afterward, Zhong Chufeng kept Tang Yuanyuan company as they waited in the hospital room for Meng Kefei to regain consciousness.

“I’ve known you for so long; how can I not know what you like? Besides, I’m famous for my good memory.” He took away the plastic bags, one by one, then opened the covers of the containers. He even prepared the chopsticks for her and passed them to her. “Here; hurry up and eat.”
After taking the chopsticks from him, Tang Yuanyuan suddenly piped up, “Chufeng, the way you urge me to eat is just like my father.”

Then, her face turned red at his words. “Why did you order so much food then?”
“Oh, but I didn’t ask you to finish eating everything even though I ordered so much food.”
Feeling a little agitated by his words, she pressed her lips together and refused to say anything.
“Alright, alright; I was just joking with you. You didn’t eat that much anyway. Here; wipe your mouth,” he said, handing her a tissue.
She snorted lightly and refused to take it. “I’m going to ignore you.”
He laughed and was about to say something when his phone rang. Taking it out, he glanced at it. Then, the laughter in his eyes faded considerably. “Yishu, are you finally awake?”
“What’s the room number?” Yuchi Yishu’s voice sounded a little breathless as if he had run over here.
After Zhong Chufeng told him the room number of the hospital room, the other party ended the call immediately. Thus, he put his phone back into his pocket and said to Tang Yuanyuan, “Your brother is awake. I think he is already at the hospital.”
“My brother is here?”
“Yeah.”
As he cleared away the empty food containers, he comforted her, “What did I tell you before? Your brother could never bear to ignore you.”

“Yishu.” She nodded. “Yes, I have. Chufeng ordered a lot of takeaways and they were all my favorites. So, I ate a little too much.”
“Are you alright?” Then, he seemed to realize something. After checking her all over and confirming that she had no injuries on her, he heaved a sigh of relief.
“I’m fine. Fei is the one who is injured.” She pointed at Meng Kefei, who was lying unconscious on the hospital bed. “Her body is covered in injuries.”
“Injuries?” Meng Kefei had stayed over at his house before. Besides, she was Yuanyuan’s best friend. So, he naturally felt slightly worried about her. “What happened?”
“I don’t know.” After that, Tang Yuanyuan recounted the events of the past few days to him. By the time she finished speaking, her eyes had reddened again. “Since just now, she has not woken up. I don’t know when she will finally regain consciousness.”
“Don’t worry.” He reached out his hand and lightly rubbed the back of her head. “Since the doctor mentioned that she is under observation, we’ll watch her for now. There’s no point for you to get anxious. Are you going to stay with her tonight?”
“Yeah.”
“Okay. I will accompany you.”
She subconsciously pulled on his sleeve. Then, she got up, walked over to him, and sat down beside him; she seemed very dependent on him. After a while, she began to feel sleepy sitting there. Thus, he sighed. “Did something happen recently?”
He was slightly worried. After hearing those absurd words coming from Zhong Chufeng, he was constantly worried that somebody else might say similar nonsense in front of her. He might not be bothered by it, but she must never hear of it.
Luckily, she remained innocent and naïve. However, ever since winter break started, she stopped coming over to the Ye residence. However, even after visiting them, she seemed unwilling to interact with him. He could clearly feel that the young lady was trying to keep her distance from him. If not for those words, will I still feel as if she is trying to avoid me? I don’t think so.
“I am not avoiding you, Yishu. Besides, didn’t you say this to me before? We have to observe propriety with the opposite sex. Well, I’m all grown up now.”
When he heard those words, he was stunned for a moment, then he burst out laughing. “That’s right; you’re all grown up now. You’re no longer the little girl from before.”

Zhong Chufeng then dragged An Qian into the car.
Both the men were sitting in front as they were drivers. They could take turns to drive and let the others rest.
