Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 281

Han Xueyou committed suicide.

This incident caught Shen Qi completely off guard. It was her first time facing this situation; she almost passed out at the sight of the large pool of bright red blood on the bathroom floor, but she knew she could not afford to do so.

Who would save Han Xueyou if she fainted?

Suppressing the fear within her, she asked Mr. Jin to help her lift Han Xueyou out of the bathtub. Blood drained from Shen Qi’s lips as they were doing so. Mr. Jin was strong enough to lift Han Xueyou to the sofa by himself. Then, Shen Qi pressed Han Xueyou’s hand, trying to stop the bleeding.

“No, I can’t stop the bleeding. Mr. Jin, the ambulance may not make it in time,” Shen Qi’s voice was trembling as she spoke. She pondered for a while before saying in a firm tone, “Mr. Jin, I’ll have to ask you to carry her to the car. We’ll send her to the nearest hospital.”

Mr. Jin was a man who had been through many incidents, so he had calmed down pretty quickly despite the initial shock.

He nodded and went forward to lift Han Xueyou into his arms. “I’ll bring her downstairs now.”

“Okay.” Shen Qi walked out with him quickly, before taking out her cell phone and searching for the nearest hospital using the navigation app.

After obtaining the info, something flashed across her mind; she hurriedly sent a message to Han Xueyou’s older brother, Han Qing, to ask him to go to the hospital.

When they were downstairs, the people in the hotel lobby were so bewildered to see them holding a person covered in blood. The staff wanted to approach them but Shen Qi rebuked loudly, “Lock her room!”

“Okay, okay!” The staff didn’t know which room Shen Qi was talking about, so they hurriedly checked the surveillance camera after Shen Qi and Mr. Jin left.

After getting into the car, Shen Qi kept applying pressure on Han Xueyou’s hand. Mr. Jin had started the car and was driving the nearest hospital according to her instructions, which was about ten minutes’ drive from the hotel. Shen Qi was distraught and her heart was thumping violently, anxiety written all over her face.

“Qi…” A weak voice resonated. Shen Qi lowered her head and saw Han Xueyou open her eyes looking right back at her, her lips as pale as snow.

Shen Qi was terribly upset to see her in such a dire state. Her eyes turned red, as she bit her lower lip, and said harshly, “Hush, stop talking. We’re almost there.”

“N-No…” Han Xueyou shook her head and said weakly with a pale face, “Don’t save me. I-I don’t want to live anymore.”

“What are you talking about?” Shen Qi gritted her teeth and chided, “Close your eyes and rest. We will be at the hospital in a few minutes. The doctor will save you. You’ll survive this.”

“Qi…” Han Xueyou called out her name, tears flowing down her cheeks.

Shen Qi couldn’t bear to see Han Xueyou like this. Tears were rolling in her own eyes, but she turned her head and didn’t allow Han Xueyou to see her tears as she said furiously, “Even if you want to die, don’t die in front of me.”

“I’m sorry,” Han Xueyou said weakly. Then, her eyes rolled and she fainted.

“Xueyou! Xueyou!” Shen Qi’s face became paler in fright when she saw Han Xueyou pass out. “Mr. Jin, please go faster! I’m afraid she won’t make it…”

Shen Qi’s voice was cut short as she was choked by her sobs.

She held Han Xueyou in her arms and kept pressing on her acupuncture points to stop the bleeding, incredibly terrified at this moment.

It was as if she was all alone in that dark little room again, in the room that was so vast and as dark as night. Alone and frightened, she couldn’t see anything. Darkness came upon her, almost swallowing her whole.

“N-No…” Shen Qi bit her lower lip firmly until she tasted blood in her mouth. The pain made her snap back to reality again at once..

No, I can’t break down now!

No!

If I collapse, there’ll be no one to save Han Xueyou.

“Mr. Jin, hurry up!” Shen Qi urged.

Finally, they reached the hospital. The doctors and nurses who received the news in advance were already waiting at the entrance. They rushed over with the stretcher when they saw Shen Qi and Mr. Jin—drenched in blood—coming out of the car, carrying Han Xueyou.

“Quick! We have an emergency! Put her on the wheeled stretcher and get to the emergency room immediately.”

Shen Qi followed them into the hospital with flimsy footsteps. Her appearance was equally as shocking as Han Xueyou, for her clothes were soaked with Han Xueyou’s blood since she was holding her throughout the journey.

“Doctor, how is she? Did she lose too much blood?” Shen Qi asked with a trembling voice and bloodshot eyes.

While giving Han Xueyou first aid treatment, the doctor replied, “Are you her friend? Don’t worry, we will send her to the emergency room right now. You should clean the blood on your body. It’s unhygienic to have so much blood on your clothes.”

Mr. Jin ran along with them. When Han Xueyou was pushed into the emergency room, Shen Qi was in a daze and tried to follow them but had to stop abruptly when the nurses blocked her outside the door.

Thud!

The door of the emergency room closed. Shen Qi was a bundle of nerves; she bit her lips hard, feeling the tension from every inch of her body.

Mr. Jin stood next to her for a while and realized that she looked particularly scary as she had been standing there as still as a statue.

Hence, he stepped forward and asked, “Young Lady, there are chairs over there. Would you like to sit down?”

Shen Qi remained standing and staring at the wall as if she didn’t hear him.

Mr. Jin tried to persuade her, but she continued to ignore him. In the end, Mr. Jin had no choice but to hurriedly walk to a quiet corner and take out his cell phone to call Ye Moxuan.

However, at this moment, Shen Qi, who had been standing still, seemed to come to her senses and suddenly turned her head at Mr. Jin.

“Mr. Jin, are you calling Ye Moxuan?”

Upon hearing that, Mr. Jin’s fingers froze midair. He turned around to glance at Shen Qi strangely. “What’s the matter, Young Lady?”

“Are you calling him?” Something struck Shen Qi’s mind and she suddenly rushed forward and said, “No, don’t call him.”

“But why? I think it’s better to inform Young Master Ye about this shocking incident.”

“No,” Shen Qi said coldly. “The one in the emergency room is my friend. This has nothing to do with him, so don’t call him.”

Judging from Shen Qi’s uneasy expression and her rather stern tone, Mr. Jin suspected that she didn’t want Ye Moxuan to worry about her, so he put away the phone and said, “If you say so. Why don’t you go ahead and clean up? I’ll wait here. Don’t worry.”

Shen Qi glanced down at her clothes and said in a low voice, “How? I don’t have spare clothes anyway. Forget it, I’m fine. I’ll just wait for her here.”

“Do you want to sit on the chair in front?”

“I’ll smear the chair with the blood on me.”

Since she was covered entirely in blood, the family members of other patients who were at the waiting area had shied away from her like a plague.

Frankly, Shen Qi’s appearance was indeed extremely terrifying at this moment—her entire body was stained with bright red blood, her eyes were red from all the crying, and her messy hair added on to her already terrifying look.

Fortunately, she was a woman. If she was a man, everyone would have thought that she was a murderer.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 282

Shen Qi didn’t care about their gazes. She waited at the door of the emergency room anxiously, for she had to make sure that Han Xueyou was safe before she could leave.

At this moment, the phone in her hand vibrated. Shen Qi flicked it around to take a look at it only to stare right at the bloodstain on the screen. It seemed that it was a call from Su Jiu.

Shen Qi grabbed the hem of her clothes to wipe the blood off the screen. However, since her clothes were also soaked with blood, the more she wiped it, the dirtier it got. In the end, Shen Qi decided to answer the call first.

“Hello?”

Shen Qi’s trembled voice resonated into the phone.

“Miss Shen? Was it you who sent the message to President Han?” Su Jiu’s voice sounded from the other end of the line, asking her for verification.

“Yes, it’s me.” Shen Qi nodded. She took a deep breath, trying to calm her shaky voice. “Are you guys on the way here?”

There was a short silence on the other end of the line followed by a cool and solemn male voice.

“We’re on the way. Tell me what happened.”

Shen Qi opened her mouth, but no word came out of it; she couldn’t utter anything.

She couldn’t bring herself to calmly explain Han Xueyou’s suicide attempt to him. Until now, she still couldn’t believe that everything that had just happened was true.

As soon as she thought of this, she closed her eyes and said, sounding exhausted, “You will know when you get here. I’m not bluffing. I’ll meet you in front of the emergency room.”

With that, Shen Qi ended the call abruptly before he could ask any further questions.

Beep, beep….

Han Qing frowned as the busy dial tone echoed from the phone.

Su Jiu, who was sitting beside him, looked at him in confusion. “President Han?”

Han Qing returned to his senses and threw a sideways glance at her. “Hurry and go to the hospital now.”

Su Jiu nodded and instructed the driver in front of them. “Mr. Lin, please hurry up.”

“Sure thing!”

Both of them donned a gloomy expression because of Shen Qi’s simple message, saying that something had happened to his sister and urging him to go to the hospital immediately.

However, her voice trembled violently when they spoke on the phone. She wouldn’t have reacted like this if it weren’t something particularly serious.

Perhaps, she…

Su Jiu only dared to think to herself.

Every minute felt like a lightyear to Shen Qi. She glimpsed anxiously at the corridor countless times but Han Qing was nowhere to be seen.

She felt that it was necessary to call Han Xueyou’s family over. She was really afraid that something might happen to Han Xueyou due to the massive blood loss.

Lowering her gaze to the floor, Shen Qi was frustrated at herself. If only I have arrived sooner! What took me so long?

When she was deep in her thoughts, steady footsteps resonated across the corridor, coupled with the clatter of a pair of high-heels. Shen Qi raised her gaze at the exit of the corridor and saw two familiar figures.

It was Han Qing and Su Jiu.

Meeting Han Qing’s stern eyes made Shen Qi, for some reason, feel as if she had seen her own family. The tears she had been holding back just now almost flowed down her cheeks. Shen Qi quickly bit her lower lip and turned her head around to avoid Han Qing’s gaze as well as to stop herself from crying.

She felt that her behavior was improper and unacceptable.

He was Han Xueyou’s elder brother, but why did she always think of him as her elder brother? If Han Xueyou knew this, she would tease her for it.

“What happened?”

As she was pondering, Han Qing’s voice resonated from behind her, followed by a firm grip on her shoulder. The grip twisted her around and her gaze stumbled right upon Han Qing’s eyes.

He carried an amiable aura with him that made her feel safe and secure.

A lump started to choke in Shen Qi’s throat. She bit her lower lip but before she could utter a word, tears rolled down her cheeks continuously.

Han Qing’s heart was throbbing violently when he saw Shen Qi’s devastating cries and her bloody body. He felt as if something sharp was piercing his heart.

Upon seeing Shen Qi in such a dire state, Su Jiu figured that she might not be able to tell them the whole story, so she looked at Mr. Jin who was standing next to her and asked, “Excuse me, can you please tell us what happened?”

Honestly speaking, Mr. Jin didn’t really know what was going on, but he was able to convey the overall process, so he briefly described the events from the moment they left the house until they arrived at the hospital. Su Jiu and Han Qing stood together, listening to Mr. Jin’s recount of the incident.

Han Qing frowned. “Is the person inside Xueyou?”

Shen Qi nodded. “I’m so sorry. If I had found her earlier, maybe—”

Han Qing interrupted. “Let’s wait for the result first. Meanwhile, you should clean up. Su Jiu, help her out.”

Su Jiu reacted immediately and stepped forward to help Shen Qi. “Miss Shen, please come with me. I’ll take care of you. President Han will be here, so don’t worry”

“Alright.”

Shen Qi was very much at ease now that Han Qing was here; she nodded and left with Su Jiu.

Su Jie checked Shen Qi in at a nearby hotel first. Then, she went to a nearby store to buy a set of clothes that were Shen Qi’s size and returned to the hotel so that Shen Qi could change as soon as she finished showering.

There was so much blood on Shen Qi’s body that it took her a long time to wash it all off. When she was done, she put on the clothes Su Jiu bought for her and blurted anxiously, “Let’s go back to the hospital.”

“Miss Shen, don’t worry. I have just contacted President Han. He said that Miss Han hasn’t come out yet, so even if you go there now, you can only wait outside. I believe that you must be in shock too, so it is better for you to rest here. I’ll take you there when Miss Han wakes up.”

“No!” Shen Qi rejected her proposal firmly. “I must see with my own eyes that Xueyou is fine. She’d lost so much blood.”

Su Jiu took a look at her who was still looking as pale as snow. She didn’t look any better compared to her earlier state; in fact, she looked much worse than before. Coupled with the tremble in her voice, it showed how much she was worried about Han Xueyou. If Han Qing hadn’t arrived, she would have waited there in her blood stained clothes until the door of the emergency room opened.

“Miss Shen, I understand how you feel, but you are not doing so well yourself. I don’t think you…”

“Are you worried that I will collapse and become another burden on your list? Don’t worry, for Xueyou’s sake, I won’t faint so easily. I’m fine.” After speaking, Shen Qi stepped forward and held Su Jiu’s hands. “Let’s go to the hospital together.”

Su Jiu hesitated, but a determination was written all over Shen Qi’s eyes.

It was really hard to refuse her request at this moment.

“Secretary Su!”

Shen Qi called her name aloud to get her sense back from her hesitation. Su Jiu’s face flashed with helplessness, and finally, she gave in and said, “Alright, you leave me no choice. Let’s go.”

“Thank you!” Shen Qi shed some tears of joy and then left the hotel with Su Jiu.

When they arrived at the hospital, they could see Han Qing standing at the door of the emergency room from afar. His tall figure was leaning against the wall, with one hand in his pocket. His gaze was directed at the floor, and no one knew what he was thinking.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 283

“President Han.”

Su Jie’s greeting pulled Han Qing back to his senses. He glanced at Su Jiu briefly and then focused on Shen Qi.

It was only when he saw the clean clothes on her that he looked away in relief.

However, after a while, something struck his mind and he frowned at Su Jiu, who had no choice but to explain, “Miss Shen is worried about Miss Xueyou, so she insisted to come with me.”

From their exchanges, Shen Qi could guess what was going on, so she stepped forward to speak on behalf of Su Jiu. “I insisted on coming here. How do you expect me to rest now that Xueyou is in this situation? It’s better for me to wait at the hospital with you.”

Han Qing shrugged quietly upon hearing Shen Qi’s remark.

They waited outside the emergency room for a long time. After a while, Su Jiu forced Shen Qi to sit down next to her. Only when she sat down that she realized her legs were shaking so badly; she hadn’t noticed it at all when she was standing.

Su Jiu put her hand on her lap.

“Are you okay?”

Shen Qi raised her head and met Su Jiu’s concerned eyes. “I’m fine.”

They waited for a while longer. Finally, the door of the emergency room opened. Shen Qi, who was sitting down, quickly stood up and stumbled forward.

A pair of big hands caught her just in time. Shen Qi raised her gaze and met Han Qing’s calm eyes.

“Be careful,” he said in a low voice.

Shen Qi nodded blankly.

“Are you the family of the patient who attempted suicide?” the doctor asked after emerging from the door. Han Qing stepped forward and hummed a reply, while Shen Qi followed closely behind him.

“I am,” Han Qing replied in a low voice.

The doctor glanced at him and then at Shen Qi before saying, “The patient is out of danger now. Fortunately, the wound is not deep. If she had cut herself any deeper, she would have died.”

Although there was a moment of fear, Shen Qi clearly heard that Han Xueyou was no longer in danger now.

She heaved a big sigh of relief. Her legs then went jelly, and she fell backward.

“Miss Shen!” Su Jiu was standing just behind her, so as Shen Qi fell backward, she instinctively reached out to hold her.

Han Qing turned around due to the loud yelp, only to find that Shen Qi had fainted.

The doctor was also shocked. He quickly went forward to check on Shen Qi and said, “I think she was traumatized by the whole event. Help her to rest in the ward next door—she looks terrible.”

Su Jiu nodded and was about to help Shen Qi to go to the ward when Han Qing, who had ironed out the details with the doctor, suddenly walked forward and lifted Shen Qi in his arms before saying to Su Jiu, “Go and settle the hospital admission process.”

Su Jiu stared at the scene in front of her in a daze and it took her a while to regain her composure. “Noted, President Han.”

As Han Qing walked away with Shen Qi in his arms, Su Jiu stood there watching this scene in suspicion and disbelief.

This is weird. From the way President Han treats Shen Qi, it is definitely more than ordinary friends between them. However, from the way he holds her, it doesn’t look flirty at all, but rather… like a brother caring for his sister. Could it be that because Shen Qi and Han Xueyou are good friends, President Han treats her as a sister as well? Forget it, what am I thinking? President Hang is a decent man—he knows his boundaries. I’m just his secretary and it’s not in my job scope to worry about it.

Thinking of this, Su Jiu hurriedly went to handle Han Xueyou’s hospital admission process, leaving Mr. Jin alone. For a moment, Mr. Jin didn’t know what to do. After some consideration, he felt that following Shen Qi would be the better option since he came here with her.

Hence, Mr. Jin quickly caught up with Han Qing. A peculiar feeling emerged in Mr. Jin’s heart when he saw Han Qing taking Shen Qi into the ward and laying her carefully on the bed, but it didn’t seem like there was any intimate spark between them.

I better not tell Young Master Ye about this, for it may affect their relationship.

Upon thinking of this, Mr. Jin made up his mind to just wait by the door.

Something struck Han Qing’s mind that he suddenly raised his head to glance at Mr. Jin, who hurriedly stood by the door without a word.

Su Jiu rushed over after going through the process. “President Han, would you like to fetch a few maids from home to take care of Miss Xueyou?”

“Sure.” Han Qing nodded. “Do it, and send two more people over here.”

Su Jiu paused and then nodded.

Shen Qi woke up after only about ten minutes, but she was still very pale. She realized that she was in a quiet ward and saw Han Qing sitting in a chair beside the bed.

After a few seconds of silence, Shen Qi suddenly remembered what had happened before. She immediately lifted the blanket and sat up, creating a shuffling noise.

Han Qing looked at her. “You’re up?”

“I’m sorry…” Shen Qi was too embarrassed to meet his gaze.

Han Qing frowned and asked, “What for?”

Shen Qi bit her lower lip awkwardly and explained, “I can’t believe I’m still causing you trouble after what happened. I’m really sorry.”

After speaking, Shen Qi got out of bed and bowed, apologizing to Han Qing.

Her attitude somehow annoyed Han Qing a little. For some reason, he didn’t want to see her bowing to anyone, especially to him.

“There’s no need to apologize,” Han Qing said in a clear voice. “She slit her own wrist. It has nothing to do with anyone.”

Hearing that, Shen Qi raised her head and stared at him. “How is Xueyou?”

“She is still under observation in the intensive care unit and will be transferred to the general ward after 24 hours.”

Still under observation in the intensive care unit? Shen Qi’s face suddenly turned pale. Does it mean that she is still in danger?

“The doctor said that she is already out of danger. They let her stay in the intensive care unit for observation just in case there are some complications. Don’t worry about it.”

Shen Qi didn’t know what to say.

Still very much worried, she curled her palms—that were hanging on either side of her body—into tight fists and then released again, repeating this action several times.

She always felt that there must be a reason for Han Xueyou to call her over just to kill herself.

Perhaps it was because of our fight and my harsh words last time. Did they trigger suicidal thoughts in her mind?

Or is there another reason?

In short, it must be about her and Ye Moxuan.

Otherwise, how would Han Xueyou, who had always been optimistic and cheerful since she arrived at the Han Family, suddenly decide to kill herself?

Shen Qi couldn’t find any other reasons apart from this.

“It’s all because of me. I owe you an apology!” Shen Qi bit her lower lip firmly. “She slit her wrist because of me, but please rest assured, President Han, I will talk to her as soon as she wakes up. ”

Han Qing had no interest in knowing girls’ conflict, but it was quite impossible that a small conflict could lead to Han Xueyou attempting suicide. If that was the case, what would happen if the conflict escalated?

Han Qing looked at Shen Qi inquisitively, as if he was questioning her.

Of course, Shen Qi could see right through him, but whatever happened between her and Han Xueyou was too complicated to explain.

“Sorry, I can’t tell you now.”

3

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 284

Shen Qi looked at Han Qing stubbornly.

She couldn’t tell anyone exactly what had happened until everything had been resolved.

After all, Han Qing was Xueyou’s eldest brother. If this matter was not handled properly, Xueyou might hate her.

Initially, Shen Qi was furious, resentful, and upset.

But when she saw Han Xueyou lying in the bathtub, covered in blood; when she heard Xueyou telling her weakly that she didn’t want to live anymore, Shen Qi felt stabs of pain in her heart. In fact, she even felt as if she was a devil at that crucial moment.

She was the one who forced Han Xueyou to take this path!

“It’s okay if you don’t want to tell me.” Han Qing stood up with a calm expression. “Stay here and rest.”

When Han Qing finished speaking, he was about to go out. Shen Qi hurriedly followed him and asked, “Are we not allowed to enter the intensive care unit now?”

“Yes, so you don’t have to worry.”

Shen Qi thought about her circumstances for a while. Since she couldn’t visit Han Xueyou now, she couldn’t stay here for too long either; it might raise Ye Moxuan’s suspicion.

Thinking of this, Shen Qi said, “Then, I shall go back today. I will come back to see her after 24 hours.”

Hearing that, Han Qing moved his lips, wanting to say something, but eventually, he simply nodded and said, “Sure, your driver is still waiting for you outside. You can go home now.”

“Ok.”

After bidding farewell to Han Qing, Shen Qi walked out of the room alone. When she reached the door, she turned around and thanked him. After all, he paid for the ward that she was staying.

Han Qing merely raised his hand indifferently and looked at his watch. Then, he said in a deep voice, “I still have some business to deal with. Why don’t you go back first?”

Shen Qi froze, for she thought that Han Qing would be here to accompany Han Xueyou—she didn’t expect that he would leave.

On second thought, there was staff in the intensive care unit to look after the patients, so it would be a waste of his time for him to be here anyway.

Finally relieved, Shen Qi left the hospital with Mr. Jin.

Shen Qi was still looking as pale as before. On the way back to the Seabay Villa, she looked at the scenery outside the window, the image of Han Xueyou lying in a pool of blood still vivid in her mind, making her heart thump violently again.

For the next 24 hours, the nurses in the intensive care unit would take care of Han Xueyou, wouldn’t they?

Thinking of this, Shen Qi closed her eyes, feeling both physical and mental exhaustion.

Mr. Jin, who was driving in the front seat, probably saw her upset look, so he comforted her. “Young Lady, Miss Shen is a good person. I’m sure she’ll be fine. Don’t worry.”

Hearing that, Shen Qi suddenly returned to her senses. She opened her eyes and stared at Mr. Jin who was behind the wheels. It took her a while before saying, “Mr. Jin, about what had happened today—”

“Young Lady, don’t worry. I have already lived half a century, I know what I can and cannot say.”

Shen Qi smiled at ease. “Thank you. It’s not that I don’t want to tell him, but I just think that this incident has nothing to do with him.”

“I totally understand, Young Lady.”

Shen Qi lowered her eyes when she finished speaking. On the surface, she told Mr. Jin that this had nothing to do with Ye Moxuan, but was that really the case?

Was it really not because of them that Han Xueyou attempted suicide?

After returning to the Seabay Villa, Shen Qi shivered as the sea breeze blew. Seeing this, Zhu Yun greeted her, “Is it very cold, isn’t it, Young Lady? It’s getting colder now, so please enter the house quickly.”

Then, Zhu Yun noticed that Shen Qi’s clothes were different from the ones she wore when she went out. Puzzled, she opened her mouth and was about to ask when she saw Mr. Jin, who was behind Shen Qi, signaling her with his eyes.

Zhu Yun had been working here for a long time, so she understood the hint immediately. She stopped herself from asking any questions and merely watched Shen Qi walking further into the house in despair. It was only after Shen Qi had disappeared from her sight did Zhu Yun walk forward and ask, “Mr. Jin, did something happen today? Why does the Young Lady look so pale and weary?”

Hearing that, Mr. Jin sighed. “Yes, we did encounter something today, but it’s no big deal. Everything has been handled.”

“Mr. Jin, what’s the matter? Come on, tell me,” Zhu Yun couldn’t help asking.

Looking at Zhu Yun’s curious gaze, Mr. Jin figured that she would keep her mouth shut and not gossip around, so he briefly told her about the eventful day. It was a brief explanation of how Shen Qi went out to meet a friend, but only to discover her suicide attempt—that was probably prompted by a relationship problem or some other agitation—in time, and how they quickly sent her to the hospital.

After Zhu Yun heard the brief description, she nodded understandingly. “She must have been so shocked seeing her friend commit suicide so suddenly. Don’t worry, Mr. Jin, I will look after her, and I won’t tell anyone about this; you have my word. It’s getting late, so please go back and rest early.”

“Good, I knew that you are a reliable woman. I’ll take my leave then. Excuse me.”

After returning to the room, Shen Qi sat on the sofa and looked into the distance in a daze.

At this moment, Zhu Yun came in with a bowl of hot soup. “Young Lady, a bowl of hot soup can make you feel warmer. Come, drink some.”

Staring at the steaming bowl of soup, suddenly, the image of Han Xueyou lying in a pool of blood appeared in front of Shen Qi’s eyes. Gradually, the bowl of hot appetizing soup turned into fresh blood of rustic smell, assaulting both her sight and mind.

Shen Qi’s pale lips started to tremble. Zhu Yun frowned at Shen Qi’s reaction, realizing the peculiarity. Just when she was approaching her to ask, Shen Qi suddenly screamed and shoved the bowl away.

Clatter!

The bowl fell to the ground and shattered into pieces. Shocked, Zhu Yun widened her eyes in disbelief. “Young Lady, your hand!”

Shen Qi felt scalding pain in her hands. Upon hearing Zhu Yun’s voice, she finally calmed down and realized that it was a bowl of soup, not blood.

Zhu Yun, who was standing beside her, looked at her in confusion. Only then did Shen Qi realize what she had done and bite her lower lip in distress. “Sorry Zhu Yun, I-I just—”

“It’s okay, Young Lady.” Zhu Yun was shocked to hear Shen Qi’s apology. She took a while to regain her composure and said gently, “Mr. Jin told me about what happened. It’s normal to feel upset at such times. If you don’t feel like drinking the soup now, why don’t you take a bath first? I’ll bring the soup to you later.”

“You know about the event? You—”

“What happened?”

Shen Qi’s eyes widened in bewilderment. Before she could tell Zhu Yun not to tell others about this, Ye Moxuan’s low voice came from outside.

Her expression instantly changed. Ye Moxuan is back already?

When she was pondering, Ye Moxuan had already appeared in the room in his wheelchair, and Shen Qi could only stare at him in astonishment.

“Young Master, welcome back.”

After Ye Moxuan entered the room, he was stunned to see the mess on the ground. When he looked up, he was greeted by Shen Qi’s pale face.

Shen Qi’s heartbeat accelerated and she reflexively looked at Zhu Yun.

“What happened?”

Zhu Yun reacted quickly and rushed in front of Shen Qi. “I’m sorry, Young Master. The soup accidentally slipped off my hand and scalded Young Lady!”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 285

Shen Qi was taken aback for a moment, and she looked at Zhu Yun in astonishment. “Zhu Yun…”

“Scalded?” Ye Moxuan frowned and looked at Shen Qi’s fingers, thereupon realizing that five of her tender, fair fingers had already turned red. His expression changed immediately, and he stepped forward to grab Shen Qi’s wrist to the bathroom to shower cold water on her as he ordered coldly, “Go get some cream for burn relief.”

Zhu Yun froze for a moment and hurried away to get it.

Shen Qi let Ye Moxuan grab her hand and wash it under the running water in a daze. Feeling the coolness wash through her fingers, the heat that she felt had receded quite a bit. However, as time passed, Shen Qi looked at the water flowing from the tap and noticed it becoming bright red blood again. Her expression changed greatly in fright, and she screamed while pulling her hand back.

Ye Moxuan was also shocked by her sudden reaction, but he soon calmed down. Frowning, he asked in a deep voice, “Did it hurt you? Should I turn the water down?”

After hearing a low-pitched male voice in her ears and feeling the icy aura surrounding her, Shen Qi slowly recovered herself and turned to look at Ye Moxuan, who was close to her. Seeing his pitch black irises, she returned to her senses and suddenly stretched out her hands to hug Ye Moxuan tightly.

Although Ye Moxuan was glad that Shen Qi took the initiative, her actions today were too abnormal. He thought about it and put his hand on her shoulders. “What happened?”

“N-Nothing.” She leaned her chin on his shoulder and shook her head vehemently. “I-It’s just that my hands hurt from the scalding.”

Hearing that, Ye Moxuan frowned and growled in a displeased tone, “Zhu Yun is too careless, hurting you like this. I will lay her off tomorrow.”

“No, don’t do that!” Hearing that Ye Moxuan wanted to fire Zhu Yun, Shen Qi spoke up for her immediately. “It has nothing to do with her. The soup was already on the table; I was the one who was not careful enough when I held it. This has nothing to do with her.”

“Really?”

Shen Qi nodded vigorously. Zhu Yun was cleverer and smarter than she thought. Although she knew about the incident, she chose to protect Shen Qi when Ye Moxuan returned just now, making him think that Shen Qi looked pale because she was scalded.

That girl is smart and cares about me so much. It would be a shame for her to be laid off for no reason.

“Alright, since you like her so much, I’ll let her stay with you and give her a raise.”

“Thank you.”

Soon, Zhu Yun brought the cream to them and then applied it on Shen Qi before leaving.

Shen Qi wasn’t in the mood to chat with Ye Moxuan, for she was afraid that she would accidentally reveal anything if she spoke more, so she went to bed quickly saying that she was a little tired and wanted to rest. Seeing that she didn’t look too well, he didn’t stop her.

However, Shen Qi couldn’t really sleep all night. When she had finally fallen asleep later during the night, her dreams were full of gore and bloody scenes with Han Xueyou laying in a pool of blood and stretching out her hands weakly while calling Shen Qi’s name.

“Qi, s-save me! Q-Qi… please save me!”

“Qi, I don’t want to live anymore. Just let me die!”

However, the scene suddenly changed and showed Han Xueyou and Ye Moxuan hugging each other affectionately. Then, her dream changed once more. This time, she was met with Ye Moxuan’s cold expression. “Look at you! A woman like you who is pregnant with another man’s child is not worthy of my love! I was just fooling around with you by saying that I loved you. Did you really think I would love a woman like you? In your dreams!’

“Shen Qi, why can’t you see it yet? You are considered as used goods. No man will really love you. Hahahaha!”

The eerie laughter of the two of them was overwhelming, and it turned Shen Qi’s world upside down. Shen Qi was sweating all over, and she was desperately trying to wake up from the dream. She ran away from the both of them, praying that they would not follow her. However, they were like ghosts, following her wherever she went.

“Aaah!” Shen Qi yelled out and finally sat up.

What caught her eye was the blue sky and ocean with sunlight glittering on them. It’s already daylight.

Ye Moxuan was no longer by her side. Meanwhile, Shen Qi’s entire body was soaked in cold sweat. Shr grabbed her phone and took a look at it, only to realize that it was already 8 in the morning.

At this moment, she wondered whether Han Xueyou was up or not. Thinking of this, Shen Qi got out of bed and went to the bathroom to freshen herself up. The burn on her finger was not serious; after applying the scald cream, her wounds had almost fully recovered overnight.

After changing into a fresh outfit, she took her phone and went out, ready to go to the hospital.

“Are you going out, Young Lady? Shall I accompany you today?” Zhu Yun suggested to Shen Qi.

At first, Shen Qi wanted to reject her, but after thinking about it, she nodded. “Alright, you may come with me.”

“Okay.” Seeing that she agreed, Zhu Yun went to make the preparations with a smile. Then, she went out with Shen Qi, with Mr. Jin as the chauffeur.

Knowing where they were heading, Mr. Jin drove the car to the hospital they went to yesterday and brought Shen Qi and Zhu Yun to the ward.

In the corridor, they ran into Su Jiu, who walked up to greet them. “I knew that you will definitely come today, but I didn’t expect you to be so early.”

“You are here very early as well, Secretary Su. I’m actually quite late myself. Is Xueyou—”

“Miss Xueyou is awake now,” Su Jiu smiled slightly as she said softly. “Miss Shen, I’ll take you to the ward now.”

Hearing the news that Han Xueyou was awake, Shen Qi felt her chest tremble violently. “S-She is awake?”

“Yes, Miss Shen. Just follow me.” Su Jiu turned around and walked away. After being stunned for a while, Shen Qi hurried to follow her.

Xueyou has already woken up… That is great! She is fine! Thank goodness! For some reason, Shen Qi felt like crying. As such, she tried to calm her agitated emotions along the way. When she arrived in front of the ward, Su Jiu stopped suddenly and turned to look at her.

“President Han is in there too. Miss Shen, would you like to calm yourself down before entering?” After speaking, Su Jiu handed her a tissue. Only then did Shen Qi realize that tears were already on her face. She turned around embarrassedly and saw Zhu Yun stretching out her hand to wipe away the tears from the corner of her eyes with a faint smile. “It’s fine, Young Lady. You were just sweating because you walked too fast just now. I have wiped it off for you.”

Hearing the term ‘Young Lady’, Su Jiu couldn’t help raising her eyebrows. Suddenly, she thought of Ye Moxuan. She still vividly remembered Ye Moxuan’s weird behavior when he appeared in the restaurant that they first met. At that time, she had found him to be quite peculiar. But now, after giving a second thought, things might really be the way she expected. It seemed that Shen Qi’s background was not simple indeed.

Su Jiu smiled slightly. “Indeed. Even though it’s autumn now, after walking too fast, one might break a sweat too. Look at me, I also have some sweat here.” With that, Su Jiu put her hand on her forehead to wipe it off gently. “Miss Shen, are you ready to enter?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 286

In the ward, Han Xueyou was weakly leaning on a pillow behind her waist, sitting there with a guilty conscience.

In fact, when she saw Han Qing the moment she woke up, she was so terrified that she almost fainted again.

After all, she didn’t expect Shen Qi to message Han Qing about this, and she was unsure whether the two of them had met.

If she lost her title of being the Young Lady of the Han family in order to get Ye Moxuan’s affection, it would be a very unprofitable bargain.

Whether it was background or relationship, she wanted them all!

“Why?” Han Qing’s voice was cold, with no hint of emotions. Han Xueyou raised her head and looked at him, and her eyes drooped again in fright. What should she say? She never thought that Han Qing would know about this, nor did she think that he would be involved.

It could only be said that she had miscalculated this time.

She didn’t pay much attention when cutting herself. At the beginning, she only cut lightly, but the blood wasn’t enough, so she used a little bit of strength. Who knew that due to her trembling hand, the cut would be so deep?

It felt like she had taken a tour around hell before coming back.

Thinking of this, Han Xueyou felt the aftershock, and her eyes were red as tears rolled down her cheeks.

When Han Qing saw that, he couldn’t help frowning.

“You cried after just a question from me? Where has all your courage when you tried to commit suicide gone?”

“Qing—” Han Xueyou called his name between sobs, but Han Qing only felt annoyed when he saw her, and he didn’t feel sorry for her at all. However, he still remained a calm expression, revealing nothing.

“I-I was wrong this time, Qing. Please don’t be angry at me.” Han Xueyou knew that Han Qing was not a person whom she could placate by crying. The only way to deal with him was to confess her mistake quickly, so she quickly apologized to Han Qing.

“President Han, Miss Shen is here.”

Su Jiu’s announcement came from outside the door. When Han Xueyou heard Shen Qi’s name, her face suddenly became pale, and she shouted loudly, “No! I don’t want to see her!”

She screamed so loudly that she almost lost her voice, and her voice was so shrill that everyone was startled. Upon seeing that, Han Qing frowned. “You don’t want to see her?”

“Yes!” Han Xueyou nodded vigorously. “I don’t want to see her. Secretary Su, please ask her to leave quickly!”

Regardless whether Shen Qi and Han Qing had met before, she couldn’t take any risks now. If they hadn’t met, her behavior this time would be worth it. She would never let them meet each other.

If they had met, at least she would have no regrets.

No matter what, she would grab every opportunity to do this.

Han Xueyou suddenly became very agitated—even her eyes and body movements became emotional. Han Qing frowned when he saw this. Yesterday, he saw clearly how Shen Qi treated Han Xueyou like her sister. She was always worried that something would happen to Han Xueyou, and even when she left, she was in despair. On the other hand, Han Xueyou’s attitude was different.

Their attitude toward each other was complete opposites.

Shen Qi, who was standing outside the door, clearly heard Han Xueyou’s words. Then, Su Jiu turned around to look at her awkwardly.

“Miss Shen, Miss Xueyou said that—”

Shen Qi, who looked pale, bit her lower lip, as if she was enduring something. After a while, she raised her head again and smiled weakly. “She is still very weak, so it’s better for her to stay calm. Since she doesn’t want to see me now, I will go back first.”

After speaking, Shen Qi turned around and left, ignoring Su Jiu’s reaction.

As the two groups of people were only separated by a door, both sides could hear the conversation on the opposite ends.

After Han Xueyou heard Shen Qi say that she was leaving, she finally breathed a sigh of relief. When she relaxed, she noticed that a sharp gaze had been staring at her. Han Xueyou looked over and met Han Qing’s gaze, which was staring at her fixedly and inquisitively.

Han Xueyou suddenly became nervous and stammered, “Q-Qing, I-I just don’t want to see her right now. I—”

“You don’t have to explain anything.” Han Qing stood up and stuck one of his hands in his pocket. “I’m not interested in the conflict between you two, but…” He paused for a while. “She was the one who sent you to the hospital yesterday. Shouldn’t you at least thank her? Is this what you’ve learned from the Han family?” he asked coldly.

Han Xueyou’s face turned pale. “Qing, I—”

Han Qing turned around and walked out.

“Qing!”

Han Xueyou yelled, wanting to jump out of bed to catch up to him, but Han Qing’s pace was very fast. He soon left the ward and told Su Jiu, “Keep a watch on her, and don’t let her run around.”

“Yes, President Han.” Su Jiu came in and closed the door of the ward, but Han Xueyou got up, trying to catch up with him.

“Miss Xueyou, you’ve heard him yourself. You are too weak now, so it’s better for you to lie on the bed and rest.”

“No, he misunderstood me. I’m going to explain myself to him!” Han Xueyou pushed Su Jiu forcefully. However, as she was really weak after all, Su Jiu pushed her back to the bed to sit down. Then, Su Jiu sighed helplessly and explained to her, “You know President Han’s temper very well. If you chase after him at this time, he will be angry.”

Hearing this, Han Xueyou suddenly returned to her senses. Indeed, Han Qing’s temper was like that. If she still chased after him, he would get angry.

Forget it, then.

Han Xueyou bit her lower lip and suddenly thought of something. “Secretary Su, has Shen Qi met Qing?”

Su Jiu was taken aback when she heard that. “Huh?”

“I mean, how did you know about this yesterday? Did Shen Qi notify you?”

Su Jiu was speechless for a long time before shaking her head. “Miss Xueyou, committing suicide is such a big issue. Do you think that Miss Shen would not tell us? I know you are very good friends, but we should be notified, seeing that such a serious incident happened. After all, President Han is your family. Are you angry with Miss Shen because she let your brother know about it? Is that why you don’t want to see her?”

Hearing that, Han Xueyou’s face turned pale. “I just didn’t want him to worry.”

Su Jiu paused for a moment before saying, “Miss Xueyou, with all due respect, you have chosen to commit suicide; it has nothing to do with worrying him or not. Or do you—”

“I used the wrong words just now. I just didn’t want my brother to know,” Han Xueyou replied angrily and glared at Su Jiu. “What’s the matter with you? Why do you always refute what I say? Are you close with Shen Qi ?”

Su Jiu was speechless when she heard that.

She merely smiled slightly.”Miss Xueyou, please don’t joke around. Miss Shen and I only have a businesslike relationship. I’m not close to her at all.”

However, Su Jiu found Han Xueyou’s behavior very peculiar—after she woke up, she didn’t look like a person who just had a failed suicide attempt at all. On top of that, her reasons were quite inconsistent, which felt very strange to Su Jiu.

However, she couldn’t pinpoint precisely what was off.

Regardless of that, Su Jiu became increasingly curious about Han Xueyou’s matters.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 287

Outside the ward, after Shen Qi left, Zhu Yun and Mr. Jin quickly followed behind her.

“Young Lady, weren’t you the one who saved her? Why doesn’t she want to see you?”

“If she doesn’t want to see me, then so be it. Let’s go back first.” Shen Qi didn’t force it, and she could understand Han Xueyou’s reason for not seeing her. It was exactly the same reason why she didn’t want to see Han Xueyou before.

If Han Xueyou hadn’t sent her those messages, Shen Qi would not have gone to the hotel to find her, let alone find out that she tried to commit suicide.

Until now, Shen Qi had not recovered from the trauma of seeing Han Xueyou committing suicide.

“Then our effort of coming here was in vain!” Zhu Yun couldn’t help but complain. “That woman is too entitled. You were the one who helped her, yet she didn’t even thank you. On top of that, she yelled so loudly when she said she didn’t want to see you.”

Zhu Yun thought, Shen Qi must be very upset about this.

Mr. Jin glanced at her and shook his head, motioning her to stop talking.

Zhu Yun returned to her senses and realized that she had said the wrong thing out of anger. Then, she quickly explained to Shen Qi, “I’m sorry, Young Lady. I just said the wrong thing.”

“It’s okay.” Shen Qi shook her head and continued to walk outside.

When they were reaching the entrance of the hospital, a familiar voice rang. Shen Qi looked back and saw Han Qing standing not far behind her. His eyes were cold as he stood there without any expression on his face.

It’s him? An intimate feeling rose within Shen Qi as she walked toward him.

“President Han.”

Han Qing nodded at her and glanced casually at the two people behind her before saying, “Let’s find a place to chat.”

Hearing that, Shen Qi looked up in surprise. “President Han?”

“You saved Xueyou’s life. As her elder brother, I have to thank you.”

“T-There’s no need for that.” Shen Qi flushed red all of a sudden and quickly waved her hand to reject him. “I just happened to be the first to find out about it. If someone else had discovered her first, they would have definitely saved her too. Besides, I have known her for so many years. Of course I would not leave her alone in such a situation.”

She didn’t say that they were best of friends because she felt that both of them had drifted apart.

Perhaps we are not even friends now.

Han Qing still looked at her calmly. “I don’t want to know what has happened between you two, but I believe that you are a kind person.”

Shen Qi paused for a moment before calling out, “President Han.”

“But I have a question, and I need you to give me an answer, Miss Shen.”

As he said that, warmth appeared in Han Qing’s eyes. When Zhu Yun and Mr. Jin, who were behind Shen Qi, saw this, they couldn’t help looking at each other.

Oh, my god! Is this man trying to seduce our Young Lady? That won’t work!

“What question is it, President Han?”

Han Qing’s lips moved. “Let’s find a place to sit down and talk.”

His eyes were still fixated on her face. Although he knew that he was rude, he couldn’t help it.

They look too alike.

Every time when Han Qing saw Shen Qi, the heavy feeling in his heart increased, and he felt as if he had known her before this. Was their shared DNA guiding him?

Last night, he got all the data from Su Jiu about Shen Qi’s life and her detailed information.

He had stayed up all night to read up all of it, so he knew all about her.

After that, he discovered that not only was Shen Qi’s temperament very similar to that person, the way she spoke and dealt with things were very alike as well. If they had the same appearance, Han Qing would have thought they were the same person.

There was a hunch in his heart, but Han Qing didn’t dare to admit it.

After all, the matter this time was very serious. If there were any slightest mistake, he might hurt two people at once.

Therefore, he had to be cautious.

Zhu Yun originally wanted to refuse angrily, but Han Qing didn’t look like he was up to no good. On top of that, Shen Qi had agreed to his request. As her maid, Zhu Yun couldn’t say anything else, so she just followed Shen Qi.

She thought that even if she had judged Han Qing wrongly—that he was not a gentleman but a playboy—both Mr. Jin and her could always save Shen Qi.

There was a restaurant near the hospital that had a quiet environment. After they entered, they asked for a window seat, and then Shen Qi and Han Qing sat opposite each other.

Zhu Yun glanced at the location and realized that it allowed them to see the pedestrians outside.

It seemed that instead of having malicious intent, Han Qing really had some doubts that needed Shen Qi’s clarifications.

Thinking of this, Zhu Yun felt relieved.

The waiter of the restaurant came to serve tea. Han Qing and Shen Qi ordered a few appetizers randomly, then the waiter took the menu and left.

“The environment here is pretty good,” Shen Qi looked around and complimented. “I didn’t expect to find such a quiet place in such a busy neighborhood near the hospital.”

Han Qing said nothing. He lowered his eyes and frowned, as if he was thinking about something.

Seeing that he hadn’t spoken, Shen Qi kept quiet and did not speak again.

After sitting quietly for a few minutes, Han Qing suddenly raised his hand and took out a photo from his pocket before placing it in front of Shen Qi.

“Do you know this, Miss Shen?”

What?

Shen Qi reached out and took the photo in confusion.

The picture showed a golden safety lock, which seemed to be no different from the ones she usually saw. She smiled and asked, “Can I ask if there’s anything special about this lock, President Han?”

“Actually, there is nothing special about it.” Han Qing smiled bleakly, and his voice had calmed down a lot. “It is almost the same as any other safety locks, but this one is special in its material and its back.”

The material and the back?

Shen Qi paused. Indeed, the material of the safety lock on the photo looked different.

“This lock was tailor-made under my grandfather’s orders.”

Shen Qi nodded. “But in this photo, only the front can be seen. The back can’t be seen at all.”

After she said that, Han Qing handed over another photo—this time, it showed the back of the safety lock.

At first, Shen Qi couldn’t see the difference, but suddenly, she heard Zhu Yun exclaiming behind him, “Young Lady, there are words engraved at the back.”

Shen Qi also noticed that two words were engraved on the back—Muzi.

“What do these two words mean?” Zhu Yun asked in confusion. She still couldn’t understand Han Qing’s intentions. Did he want to ask Shen Qi about the whereabouts of the safety lock? But what for? How could Shen Qi know about this, seeing that she never had any contact with these things?

Muzi?

Shen Qi looked at these two unfamiliar words and raised her head to look at Han Qing. “President Han, why are you suddenly asking about this? Did something happen?”

Han Qing felt that the words had reached his lips, but after a while, he swallowed them back and rephrased it.

“Miss Shen, have you never seen this safety lock?”

Shen Qi frowned slightly and shook her head.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 288

“I’ve never seen it before.”

After speaking, Shen Qi put the two photos together and handed them back.

“President Han, are you looking for this lock because you’ve lost it?”

Han Qing was a little disappointed. Seems like this clue is completely useless. I can’t get any more answers.

“Yes, this safety lock belongs to a very important person. I am looking for the person who has this safety lock.”

Shen Qi replied, “I see. Why don’t you publish it in the newspaper?”

Publish in the newspaper?

Han Qing had thought about it, of course, but that would bring a lot of trouble. With the prominent background of the Han family in North City, once the photo was published, many unscrupulous people would want to get into the Han family by impersonating the person.

After thinking about it, Shen Qi rejected her own idea. “Well, it seems unrealistic to publish it in the newspaper. There are too many different safety locks. It is quite probable that there will be many imposters. I wonder who you’re looking for, President Han. This lock looks like a baby’s item, so this person should be quite young.”

When she said these words, Shen Qi was still cupping her cheeks with both her hands, lost in thoughts. Both her delicate eyebrows almost wrinkled into two little caterpillars when she pondered about it.

The way she looks right now is even more similar to that person.

Han Qing was moved by her, and he almost blurted out something.

Finally, he glanced at Zhu Yun and Mr. Jin, who were standing behind Shen Qi. “I have a few important things to ask your Young Lady. Can you—”

When Zhu Yun heard this, she immediately became highly suspicious and refused straightaway. “No!”

So he was just buying some time! I thought that Han Qing was a gentleman. Turns out that it was just a facade. Now, he actually wants to drive us away!

Zhu Yun guarded Shen Qi like a mother hen guarding her chicks, making Mr. Jin feel a little bit amused. He had always taken pride in his good judge of character. Yesterday, when Han Qing carried Shen Qi to the ward, he saw that he did not do anything to her. Instead, he just put her down and watched her until she woke up, so Mr. Jin felt that Han Qing must be a decent man.

There must be other reasons why he treated Shen Qi like this.

It was just that he was unable to determine his reason for doing so. In short, his thoughts aligned with Su Jiu—they noticed that Han Qing treated Shen Qi very well, but it didn’t feel romantic at all. Instead, it felt like he treated her as family.

Indeed, Han Qing looks like a mature elder brother.

Thinking of this, Mr. Jin pulled Zhu Yun’s sleeve to signal her to be quiet.

“Young Lady!” Zhu Yun ignored Mr. Jin and tugged on Shen Qi’s clothes.

Shen Qi could tell that Han Qing had important things to ask her, so she glanced at Zhu Yun and Mr. Jin. “Wait for me at the side, okay?”

“Young Lady, no!” Zhu Yun pursed her lips. “Who knows if he is up to no good?” she whispered.

She said this very quietly, but it was obvious that Han Qing could hear her. However, he did not become angry, and he looked as calm as before.

“Don’t worry.” Shen Qi patted her hand comfortingly. “I know what I’m doing. Mr. Jin, please.”

“Noted, Young Lady.” Mr. Jin nodded and then went to pull Zhu Yun’s shoulder. “Alright, Zhu Yun, let’s go. Young Lady has already spoken.”

Zhu Yun reluctantly followed Mr. Jin. When they went to a corner, Zhu Yun muttered angrily, “I think that man has bad intentions. Mr. Jin, why did you listen to him?”

“Believe me, he is definitely not the kind of man you think.”

“How do you know? You only met him yesterday.”

“You can tell by the look in his eyes and the aura he exudes. The Han family is second only to the Ye family in North City, and he is the leader of Han Group, after all.”

Hearing that, Zhu Yun was a little shocked. “H-He’s leader of Han Group? B-But I don’t know him.”

“All you have to know is that both he and Young Master Ye are of the same level.”

Mr. Jin smiled slightly and didn’t say anymore.

Zhu Yun was still a little annoyed, but she could only look at Shen Qi with her arms crossed in front of her chest.

After the two of them left, the surrounding became quiet.

Han Qing somehow couldn’t bring himself to ask the question that was weighing on his heart.

“President Han, what do you want to tell me? I-Is it about Xueyou?” At this point, Shen Qi lowered her eyes and pursed her lips. “If it’s about her, my answer remains the same as what I told you yesterday. I can’t disclose what happened between—”

“Shen Qi, you are mistaken. I am not asking about what happened between you and Xueyou, but about you.”

“About me?” Shen Qi asked while looking at him in a bit of astonishment.

Han Qing nodded and stared at her for a long time before taking another photo out of his pocket. Shen Qi looked at it and found that it was a photo of a baby.

In the photo, the baby had fair skin, and its small fists were clenched together, looking pinkish; it was incredibly cute.

“It’s so cute.” Shen Qi liked this baby as soon as she saw it and held the picture in her palm, smiling. “President Han, whose child is this?”

Han Qing couldn’t help but curl his lips when he saw her like this.

If I say that this baby is her, would this scare her off?

Although he was still not sure yet, deep in his heart, his intuition told him that perhaps Shen Qi was the person he had been looking for.

Indeed, this was the baby who disappeared shortly after being born into the Han family. She was his younger sister, Han Muzi.

“President Han, you are looking for this baby, and the safety lock just now belongs to this child, right?”

“Yes.” Han Qing’s gaze softened.

“I didn’t know that you are looking for this child. Is she… your child?” Shen Qi felt embarrassed after asking the last question. She felt like biting off her tongue upon realizing that she had spoken it out loud.

However, Han Qing didn’t look annoyed at all. Instead, he looked at her gently with a soft expression in his eyes.

Shen Qi felt awkward and quickly returned the photo of the baby.

“I’m sorry, President Han. I’ve said the wrong thing!”

Han Qing didn’t speak, but he didn’t seem to be angry either. Shen Qi couldn’t figure out what he was thinking for a while, so she could only sit there quietly.

After a while, Han Qing’s lips suddenly moved before he asked her weakly as he looked at her, “Can I ask you a rather private question?”

Shen Qi was stunned. “A private question?”

Han Qing thought about it, but in the end, he still didn’t ask her.

To ask a girl if there is a birthmark on her backside is something only a pervert would do! He really couldn’t bring himself to ask such a question.

However, only he knew about this matter.

Because when Muzi was born, he held her in his arms personally. At that time, his mother even told him about the birthmark.

“Han Qing, you must keep in mind that there is a big birthmark on your sister’s backside. If she were lost in the future, we could find her again using the birthmark.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 289

In the end, his sister really went missing.

However, he couldn’t find her just by this birthmark, and he was entrusted with this mission by his mother.

Before his mother died, her last wish was to find his sister.

Even though Han Qing found her later and took Han Xueyou to his mother’s grave, he always felt that something was wrong.

He didn’t know what was wrong until he met Shen Qi.

Maybe he had found the wrong person at the beginning—perhaps Han Xueyou was not the sister he was looking for. The person he was looking for was the woman in front of him—Shen Qi.

Although there was still not enough evidence to confirm that, and all the data that he found had not made any progress, he could confirm, with a crazed certainty, that the person in front of her was the sister he had been looking for.

He sometimes wondered if he had gone crazy. He had obviously only met her once, yet he immediately asked Su Jiu to look into her background and stared at her like a pervert.

This was because she felt like that person to him.

But even if he was crazy, Han Qing still didn’t want to admit it at this time. He felt that he just wanted to fulfill his mother’s dying wish that had haunted him since childhood.

He had been spending his entire life looking for his sister all the time.

For more than 20 years, even after finding Han Xueyou, he felt that he hadn’t really let go.

Although all the evidence was right, everything felt wrong to him.

“It’s nothing. Forget it.” Han Qing pursed his thin lips, and he couldn’t bring himself to ask about it in the end.

What if I scared her off after asking? And what if I startled Han Xueyou by asking this out loud?

Shen Qi froze for a moment. She could see the conflicted expression on Han Qing’s face as well as the deep pain engraved in his eyes. Obviously, he looked very flustered by this matter—Shen Qi could feel it by just sitting across him.

She originally thought he would ask her, but he held his words back unexpectedly.

Shen Qi was very curious about the question that was so difficult for him to ask out loud. Her curiosity at the moment was completely piqued by him, but she could only ask, “President Han, is there a reason behind your hesitation?”

Hearing that, Han Qing looked at her face and her eyes. Finally, he smiled bitterly. “It’s nothing. Let’s talk about it another time.”

Shen Qi remained silent.

It seemed like she wouldn’t be getting an answer today.

Shen Qi didn’t think too much and nodded. “Alright, then.”

The waiter brought the dishes to them, but Han Qing didn’t have the appetite to eat. He just raised his hand to check the time and said, “There are many things to deal with in my company…”

Hence Shen Qi hurriedly said, “President Han, just get back to work first. I’ll stay and finish this.”

“Okay.”

Han Qing got up and nodded at Shen Qi. Then, he went to the counter to foot the bill and left.

As soon as he left, Zhu Yun and Mr. Jin walked quickly to Shen Qi.

“Young Lady, what did President Han ask you? He looked so mysterious, not letting us stick around. And he also looked conflicted when he left. What happened?” Zhu Yun asked like a curious cat. Though she looked very reliable in the villa, when she was out and about, she looked like she was curious about everything.

Thinking of this, Shen Qi smiled slightly. “He didn’t actually ask me anything.”

“Nothing?” Zhu Yun widened her eyes. “How is that possible? I saw him saying a lot of things to you. Is it because the question is too private so you don’t want to tell me?”

Mr. Jin was stunned for a moment before he called out, “Zhu Yun!”

Zhu Yun returned to her senses and straightened her body without uttering another word.

Shen Qi replied in a low voice, “It’s not what you guys think. He did have a question that he wanted to ask me, but probably because he hasn’t figured it out yet, so in the end, he still didn’t ask anything. We have been out for a long time today, and the food in this restaurant looks pretty appetizing. Let’s sit down and eat together.”

Zhu Yun and Mr. Jin’s expressions changed immediately. “Servants can’t eat on the same table as their masters, of course.”

“Oh, there’s no such thing! You all have been very nice to me, and I can’t possibly finish all these by myself. Zhu Yun, please call Mr. Jin to sit down and eat together.”

Shen Qi was too easy-going—in the end, the two of them were finally persuaded by her and sat down to share the food with her.

On the way back, Zhu Yun suddenly held Shen Qi’s arm. “Young Lady, you are really the best person I have ever met. Don’t worry, I won’t tell Young Master Ye a word about what happened today.”

Shen Qi was quiet when she heard that.

Zhu Yun is actually a foodie, isn’t she? It looks like she has just been bribed by food.

“What happened today is not something important. On top of that, Han Qing and I are exactly what you see, and there is no special relationship between us.”

“Yeah!” Zhu Yun nodded vigorously. “Young Lady, don’t worry. Both Mr. Jin and I can tell that Han Qing has no other thoughts about you and that he is a gentleman.”

“It’s just that… he seems to have a special feeling for you, but I can’t tell what it is exactly…”

Hearing this, Shen Qi went silent. She didn’t expect that Zhu Yun, who saw Han Qing for the first time today, felt the same way too. She had always thought that she was the only one who felt this way. But because it was just her personal thought, she never dared to say anything, fearing that others might say that she thought too much into this.

Shen Qi also felt that special emotion that was like a brother’s love.

After that, she convinced herself that she probably felt this way because she and Han Xueyou were good sisters, while Han Qing was Han Xueyou’s brother.

Xueyou…

After thinking of her, Shen Qi’s expression darkened.

Well, she’s the source of a problem as well. Shen Qi didn’t know when it would be resolved. Ye Moxuan had told her that he would tell her the truth, but he had not told her anything yet.

That night, Ye Moxuan hugged Shen Qi to sleep once again.

In the dark, Shen Qi’s breathing was uneven, and the movements of the chest of the man behind her were the same. “What’s wrong? Couldn’t sleep?”

Shen Qi blinked in the darkness and suddenly turned around to lean into Ye Moxuan’s arms.

Ye Moxuan embraced her fully. The woman cuddled into his arms softly, making him smile involuntarily. His thin lips fell on the top of her hair. “Insomnia?”

“Yeah…” Shen Qi replied in a daze.

Ye Moxuan was silent for a while. Then, he suddenly stretched his big hand around her waist and stroked it gently. “Since you can’t sleep, then… shall we do something meaningful?” he asked in a low and sexy voice, like a cello that was playing some slow music.

Shen Qi, who was in his arms, became quiet for a moment, but she suddenly reached out her hand and hammered on his chest hard. Ye Moxuan smiled as he took her punch and hugged her even more tightly. “I was just saying that. Why are you so angry?”

“Don’t even think about it!” Shen Qi growled in a low voice.

“I can’t even think about it?”

“No!”

“How domineering.” Ye Moxuan couldn’t help laughing out loud again, but he liked her this way.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 290

In the dark, the atmosphere between them was sweet. Initially, Shen Qi wanted to ask him if he was going to tell her what was going on with him and Han Xueyou, but after being distracted by him, she had forgotten about it and squabbled with him for a while. Ye Moxuan touched the back of her head and said, “Well, pregnant women should rest early. We will chat later.”

Shen Qi also felt a little tired, so she closed her eyes groggily as she replied, “Alright.”

After a while, one of them started breathing evenly in the dark, and the other person followed suit as well.

The next day, when Ye Moxuan went to the company again, Shen Qi woke up in bed alone.

She should have been used to this.

But when she saw the empty bed, she was still a little disappointed.

Ye Moxuan seemed to be very busy, leaving early and returning late. Basically, the two of them could only chat for a bit at night.

Not long after Shen Qi woke up and freshened up, Han Xueyou called.

“Qi…” Han Xueyou’s voice was soft and weak, with a lack of power.

Hearing her voice, a lump was formed in Shen Qi’s throat involuntarily, and her eyes turned red in an instant. She didn’t answer her but just sat there quietly holding the phone.

Han Xueyou sighed heavily on the other end of the phone and said softly, “Are you angry with me because I didn’t want to see you yesterday? Or do you blame me? I’m sorry, Qi. I was really in a bad mood yesterday. I-I didn’t want to stay alive, but—”

“But what?” Shen Qi’s voice was cold. “But I saved you, so you blame me?”

“I-I’m sorry, Qi.” Han Xueyou whimpered and sobbed out loud. “Will you forgive me this time? I want to see you today. Can you come to the hospital to see me? I have a lot to tell you.”

“Go to the hospital to see you?” Shen Qi’s temper flared up, and she sneered. “Are you sure I won’t be turned away by you again?”

Do you know how much it hurt to hear you say that you didn’t want to see me yesterday?

“No, Qi. It was my fault yesterday. I promise you that it won’t happen again today. Will you come over today? If you don’t want to, just tell me where you are. I will come to you.”

With that, Han Xueyou actually got out of her bed directly. Shen Qi heard the sound on the other side of the phone and couldn’t bear her doing that. “Forget it and just lay on the bed. You are too weak now. After losing so much blood, where do you want to go when you’re supposed to be resting on the bed?”

Hearing that, Han Xueyou broke into a grin. “Qi, I know you still care about me. I’ll just wait for you here.”

After hanging up, Shen Qi glanced at the phone with mixed feelings. She was really too soft-hearted—she was persuaded by Han Xueyou simply by a few sentences.

Forget it. I’ll just visit her. After all, she almost lost her life this time.

Hearing that Shen Qi was going out, Zhu Yun and Mr. Jin followed her again.

It was quiet in the ward today; only Su Jiu accompanied Han Xueyou.

When Shen Qi knocked on the door, Su Jiu came to open it, and she looked a little surprised to see her. “Miss Shen, what are you doing here?”

Shen Qi nodded to Su Jiu as a greeting. But before she could even speak, she heard Han Xueyou’s voice coming from inside. “Secretary Su, let Qi come in. I want to talk to her alone. The rest of the people, please stay outside.”

Su Jiu was taken aback by her instructions, but she nodded clearly after a moment.

Then, she turned her body sideways. “Miss Shen, please.”

Zhu Yun wanted to follow along, but Shen Qi told her, “I also have something to tell her alone. Just wait for me outside. I will come out soon.”

Although Zhu Yun was a little worried, Han Xueyou was Shen Qi’s friend after all, so she didn’t think too much about it and nodded in agreement.

After Shen Qi entered, Su Jiu closed the door of the ward, and she then sat down beside Zhu Yun and Mr. Jin after greeting them.

It was quiet in the ward. After Shen Qi entered, she saw Han Xueyou sitting on the hospital bed pitifully, hugging her knees with both hands while looking at her.

“Qi, you are finally here…”

There was still a thick bandage on her wrist with some faint blood stains on it. It was obvious that her wounds had not fully recovered.

Shen Qi frowned. “Didn’t I tell you to lay down? Why are you sitting up?”

“I was waiting for you, Qi,” Han Xueyou answered with red eyes.

Shen Qi replied, “I told you that I will come today, didn’t I?”

She walked to the chair not far from the bed and sat down. Then, she pursed her lips and took a sharp breath. “So, what do you want to tell me?”

“I’m sorry…” Han Xueyou looked at her for a long while and suddenly bit her lower lip as she sobbed. “Qi, I’m sorry. Did I scare you yesterday or caused you any trouble?”

Shen Qi frowned and did not answer her.

“Actually, I have been thinking about suicide for a long time, but I have never acted on it because I was afraid. I was so afraid of pain, Qi. But… when I thought of you ignoring me, I felt uncomfortable. I think I really deserve to die. Ye Moxuan is obviously your husband, but I actually fell for the man you love.”

Hearing that, Shen Qi was moved by her. Is she regretting it and apologizing to me?

If that’s the case, should I forgive her?

Before having any more time to think about it, Shen Qi heard Han Xueyou continue, “Actually, I fell in love with Young Master Ye the first time I saw him. I couldn’t help myself after laying my eyes on him. As you could see later, I took the initiative to approach him on many occasions, and since he didn’t reject me, I was so glad. But do you know why I even dared to approach him, Qi? It was because I thought you would surely be together with the child’s father in the end, so I have never minded about my feelings for Young Master Ye, resulting in everything that has happened today.”

“Qi, originally, I didn’t want to let you know about this matter. I wanted to tell you in person after I have taken care of everything. But I didn’t expect you to know it so soon. I’m really sorry about it.”

Shen Qi asked, “So you chose to commit suicide and end your life like this?”

“I’m sorry.” Han Xueyou bit her lower lip tightly. “Qi, I’m really sorry, but I really love Young Master Ye. As long as I’m alive, I can’t bear watching him with another woman. So, I came to the conclusion that if I died, I would not separate you and him. But why did you save me?”

Shen Qi’s eyes became cold. “Didn’t you send me a message asking me to see you? You said that you had something to tell me. Xueyou, there are many men in the world, but why did you fall for Ye Moxuan?”

“What about you?” Han Xueyou raised her eyes and looked at Shen Qi with tears in her eyes. “You are pregnant with Ye Linhan’s child, so why are you holding onto Ye Moxuan? Do you think this is fair to Ye Moxuan?”
