Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 541

“You—mmph!” Han Muzi wanted to explain herself, but her lips were pressed down the minute she opened her mouth. Her breath was savagely taken away which blocked all her words from coming out.

In the dark, the man was in control of her. As Han Muzi slowly came back to her senses, she gave him a hard shove.

Ye Moxuan staggered a few steps back, but soon after, he was back on her. At this moment, Han Muzi had found the light switch beside her and quickly pressed it.

The light was restored in the room. Han Muzi could finally see the man clearly and realized that he was wearing a silver mask with familiar decorations on its sides.

The sudden restoration of lights stunned Ye Moxuan, but he came around in a flash. He squinted his eyes underneath the mask as he gave the silent Han Muzi a thorough look.

After they looked at each other vis a vis, Han Muzi frowned. “The decorations on your mask…”

Ye Moxuan came close to her while attracting her with his charming eyes. “Don’t you want to ask who I am?”

Han Muzi remained silent.

He went even closer. “Even though five years have passed, you still haven’t forgotten about me completely.”

His words… felt like it penetrated Han Muzi’s mind and heart. She was slightly flustered and raised her head to stare at him. “Why did you show up here wearing this? If I’m not mistaken, you’re not on the banquet’s guest list, right?”

“Oh?” Ye Moxuan’s smile deepened as his eyes became even more captivating. “So you’ve noticed me especially?”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless. She felt a bit drunk, and this resulted in the constant loopholes in her words.

As she thought about it, she simply stopped talking and just stared at the man angrily. However, she didn’t know that her lips were already red and swollen after being kissed by Ye Moxuan. Her eyes were blurry and her forehead had a tinge of redness from all the drinking. Paired with the dress she wore today, she looked as beautiful as an angel.

At this moment… Ye Moxuan gazed at Han Muzi while his throat rolled unconsciously. She was so majestic, yet she was ogled at by other men for so long. Then, he tightened his grip on her arm. “Don’t you ever dare show up in front of other men dressed like this.”

Han Muzi frowned as she wanted to get out of his grasp, but Ye Moxuan’s hand was locked onto her arm. She said to him impatiently, “Let me go.”

Ye Moxuan didn’t loosen his grip; instead, he moved it across her palm and interlocked with her fingers while she was struggling. He held on tightly to her hand.

This scoundrel! Han Muzi was so furious that she gritted her teeth. If he had not come breaking in, she would be able to take off this burden of a dress, but he just had to come in at this point and prevented her from doing just that. Not only that, he was now closing in on her, almost taking away her breath.

He didn’t say a word as it seemed that he was enjoying the atmosphere; he merely stared at her with his affectionate pitch-black eyes.

None of them moved a single muscle.

Han Muzi felt like his scorching eyes were about to burn a hole on her face. She glared at him fiercely, and for some reason, she was starting to hate the mask on his face, so she stretched out one of her hands to take it off. But before her hand could even touch him, it was held back by Ye Moxuan’s other hand.

“Didn’t you hear me? Let me go.” Han Muzi stayed quiet before continuing, “Do you expect me to wear a mask in front of everyone like you then?” She sneered. “Unlike you, I don’t have the mood to do that. You—” Before she could finish her words, Ye Moxuan suddenly took off his mask and covered her face with it.

Han Muzi froze. At first, her nose felt cold when it came in contact with the mask, but now she could feel Ye Moxaun’s warmth on the mask. The way it covered her face felt like both their faces were stuck to each other.

Han Muzi couldn’t help but blush while being irritated. “What are you doing?”

“It comes with the dress.” Ye Moxuan lifted his hands and helped her to tie the laces at the back of the mask.

As he was tying the laces, his chest swayed in front of her while his familiar scent enveloped her.

Even though both of them knew each other for so long, he had never done anything this thoughtful. For a moment, Han Muzi could feel her eyes heating up.

Then, she lowered her eyes and bit on her lower lip. I can’t soften up. I must not soften up. She couldn’t forget his cruelty back then. For the first year after she left, his cruelty haunted her every night when she closed her eyes. The situation became better after a year, but even until now, she would occasionally have similar nightmares.

As she thought about it, Han Muzi took a deep breath to calm down her mind then asked softly, “Didn’t my brother order this dress for me? Why would you have the mask that comes with it? The designer didn’t…”

“Mention it?” Ye Moxuan finished her sentence for her and explained in a deep voice, “It’s because I told him not to.”

“What are you trying to do?” Han Muzi closed her eyes to better control her emotions.

“Hmm?” Ye Moxuan squinted his eyes to give her a thorough look as he was afraid she would get mad.

In front of this woman, his heart was swaying. Sometimes, he would unconsciously want to please her, but at the same time, he was afraid of her rejection and anger. It felt like his heart was constantly orbiting her.

“Now you are even intervening with the dress my brother ordered?” Han Muzi lifted her head to stare straight at him.

Ye Moxuan froze while he started to panic after seeing her question him like this. Then, his thin lips opened unconsciously. “You don’t like it?” Without waiting for her reply, Ye Moxuan continued, “Then I won’t do something like this again. Or should I consult you first before doing something like this?”

“Ye Moxuan, when have you become this pathetic?” Han Muzi couldn’t hold back her bellow. “I would rather you treat me like before, where you kept on calling me a remarried woman and saw me as nothing but a vain, power-grabbing, gold-digger.”

All of a sudden, melodious music started playing. In the quiet changing room, it was exceptionally clear and smooth to the ear.

Han Muzi listened and could instantly recognize that it was a melodious tune, which was perfect for dancing.

Then, her hand was held on as Ye Moxuan embraced her at her waist and spoke in a husky voice, “You look so pretty in the dress. It would be a shame if you don’t dance in it. What do you think?”

The music kept on playing with no intention of stopping. This was planned by Ye Moxuan because the music didn’t simply start playing by itself. It seemed that he had his people here.

Han Muzi pursed her lips as she was already brought on to dance by him before she could refuse.

Initially, she wanted to reject him, but she slowly lost her strength to resist as though there was magic in Ye Moxuan’s eyes. Afterward, she followed his steps along with the rhythm.

Han Muzi thought that maybe at this moment, she could forget the matters of the past. Just… this moment.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 542

It was crowded in the front hall, but it was a whole different world back in the dressing room. A world that only consisted of two of them. With the melodious music playing in the background, it seemed that their hearts were connected.

Dancing was such a mysterious thing. It could bring two strangers closer and make people who were already close even more intimate.

It was just like this moment, where Han Muzi had almost forgotten all the miserable experiences in her past. She had forgotten that she was a woman who had had two failed marriages, that she was already the mother of a child, or the nightmares she used to have when she was at her lowest moments in life.

The song had finished playing. Ye Moxuan inched toward her until her back was against the dressing table. Then, he leaned forward to her slightly and raised her chin to kiss her.

Han Muzi avoided his kiss indifferently and pushed him. She coldly said, “The dance is over. You can go back now.”

Ye Moxuan, who was completely defenseless when he was emotional, was pushed aside in surprise. He turned to look incredulously at the apathetic woman. Just one second ago, her eyes were full of tenderness while she danced with him, but in the next second, she pushed him away mercilessly. What is this?

As soon as Ye Moxuan took a step forward, Han Muzi said coldly, “You have brought me enough trouble tonight. Don’t let me hate you.”

Upon hearing her words, he immediately stopped. After a while, he slowly asked, “Is this a pretense?”

Han Muzi didn’t speak.

“If you don’t answer, I’ll just take it as a tacit approval.” Ye Moxuan stared at her intently. “Muzi, no matter how you want to push me away, you will be mine for the rest of your life.”

She turned around so that she would not see him again.

After staying still for a long time, Han Muzi felt that his breath had disappeared. Only then did she hold on to the table beside her and slowly walked deeper into the room. She sat in the dressing room for a long time before regaining her composure. After that, Han Muzi changed into comfier clothes.

Where did Little Bean go? Why didn’t he come to me? Something’s wrong. Moreover, Ye Moxuan is also at this dinner party tonight. Will he meet Little Bean?

Thinking that it was not impossible, Han Muzi’s face turned pale. In the next second, she rushed out of the dressing room.

After taking a few steps out of the dressing room, she went back to take the mask that was thrown on the table and kept it in her bag.

Han Qing had introduced Han Muzi to everyone this time because he wanted everyone to know that she was the Young Lady of the Han Family. Therefore, almost everyone from the upper-class society in North City was invited. Apart from that, it was also broadcast live on a big screen in the city center.

Almost everyone was a gossip. Those who passed by the broadcast would pause to take a look at Han Muzi while commenting on her beautiful looks and her prestigious background. Many people sighed enviously when they saw that.

At this moment, a waitress in a Western restaurant brought out a steak the customer ordered from the kitchen. “Sir, here’s your medium-rare steak.”

The man was paying attention to his phone and ignored her.

A sinister look flashed in her eyes as the waitress forced a smile to remind him again.

“Oh, okay. Just leave it there. Got it.” The man waved his hand impatiently. This made the waitress quite annoyed and thought that he had no manners at all.

Then, she unintentionally took a swift glance at his phone and realized that a beautiful girl was on his screen. Tsk! Sure enough, men are all the same. Even though he looks like a decent man sitting in a high-end restaurant, he probably is a fiend underneath that facade.

The waitress spurned him and turned to leave, but she suddenly realized that something was wrong. Then, she stopped and looked back at the man’s phone screen. Why do I feel that this woman looks familiar?

When she leaned forward and took a closer look, the expression on her face changed completely. She grabbed the man’s phone and stared at the person who appeared on the phone screen intently.

The woman was smiling slightly in the picture, but there was a cold aura emanating from her facial expression, just like back then. However, the dazzling tiara on her head and the colorful dress that she wore stung the waitress’s eyes!

“Shen Qi!” she suddenly yelled out a name.

When the man saw her staring at his phone, he thought he had found someone who had the same interest as him and joked, “Isn’t she gorgeous? When I watched the live broadcast, I thought I saw a goddess when I saw her. I didn’t expect the Han Family to hide such a beautiful person.”

“H-Han Family?” The waitress’s voice trembled.

The man realized that, but he didn’t think that there was a problem. He merely took a look at the waitress and saw that she reeked of poverty from head to toe. A touch of disdain appeared in his eyes. “Yeah. You must be excited to see such a beautiful woman. Don’t you think the dress she’s wearing is particularly fashionable? Let me tell you, any one of the tiny diamonds on her tiara is more than your annual salary. When I say the Han Family, I’m talking about the Han Family from North City. Don’t tell me that you haven’t heard of them? You are really too low-class.”

His straightforward taunts were like a sharp knife piercing into the waitress’s heart. She grasped the phone so tight that her knuckles turned white. Upon seeing that, the man exclaimed, “Hey, your jealousy has nothing to do with my phone! Give it back to me now!”

When the waitress raised her head, her eyes were quite intimidating. She looked as if she had just risen from hell. “Did you just… say that a melee on her tiara costs more than my annual salary?”

“O-Of course! I’m just telling the truth. Those melees are all real. It’s nothing personal!”

“Hah.” The waitress laughed coldly: “So what if she has melees? I used to wear full diamonds.”

“Are you imagining things?” The man looked at her as if she was a deranged person. When she wasn’t paying attention, he quickly stepped forward to grab his phone from her, but she avoided his attack easily and kept staring at the woman on the screen.

“Five years. It’s been five full years. You have finally appeared…”

“Manager, why do your waitresses snatch customer’s phones without permission?” The customer’s complaint had pulled her back to her senses. She quickly returned the phone to the man, with a sweet smile plastered on her face.

“Mister, thank you for sharing this piece of news with me. This lady is very beautiful indeed—you have good taste. Enjoy your meal.”

With that, she quickly turned around before he could react and brought the manager, who was heading that way, back to the counter. She then said, “Oh, manager, how could I snatch someone’s phone? Don’t you know what kind of person I am?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 543

As both of them walked to the back of the counter, their tone gradually became flirtatious. “Manager, what I said is true, don’t you believe me? Should I come to your house tonight to make things clear?” “Now, come on…”

After witnessing this, all the other employees walked out with an impassive face—as if they had not seen anything. They were already used to this woman’s slutty tactics.

Fifteen minutes later, after she had pacified the manager of the restaurant, she went to the restroom to freshen herself up. Halfway through the process, she suddenly raised her head and looked at herself in the mirror. The once glamorous and opulent young lady of the Han Family had now become a lowly waiter in a restaurant, earning a meager salary every month. It was far from enough for her to spend.

So… she chose to betray herself. After fooling around with the manager, her salary was about twice as much as that of others. As such, she felt so proud and superior to everyone else in the restaurant. Until… she saw that woman on television today.

In just five years, her life had taken a turn for the worse, while that woman had become infinitely more popular.

Thinking of this, she clenched her hands into fists. Her long nails pierced into her flesh, but she did not feel any pain. Instead, she looked at her disheveled self in the mirror and gritted her teeth with anger. “Shen Qi! Shen Qi! Shen Qi! Shen Qi!!!”

Initially, the waitress just said the name with hatred. After a few times, she went crazy and yelled out loud. Then, she scratched her bloody nails against the mirror like a madman, making a very shrill sound. A bloodstain was left on the mirror. It made the dimly-lit restroom look even more terrifying.

Han Muzi went out for a long time to find Little Bean. After some time, she found that he did not go to the front hall; instead, he was sitting on the swing in the yard all alone while wearing a cartoon mask.

Although his face was covered, the mask matched the little suit on his body. He looked particularly cute and attractive.

Upon seeing this, Han Muzi stopped involuntarily and took out her phone to take a picture of Little Bean from a distance. Click!

As soon as the shutter was pressed and a picture was taken, Little Bean turned his head around through her phone screen. A pair of clear black eyes looked over.

“Mommy?” he asked and looked as if he wanted to get off the swing.

“Wait!” Han Muzi stopped him while her red lips curled into a smile. “I’m going to take a few pictures of you. Stay still for a while.”

Hearing that, Little Bean didn’t move and then sat there obediently, waiting for his mother to take pictures of him. Han Muzi then walked over to him and took several photos.

Little Bean was very good at posing. He would always make a few cool poses when Han Muzi pointed her camera at him. In the end, he even made a clownish face that made Han Muzi burst out in laughter.

As soon as she put the phone away, Little Bean jumped off the swing and ran over to hug her. “Mommy!”

Han Muzi reached out her hands to caress his head lovingly. She was relieved when she saw Little Bean wearing a mask.

Since Little Bean was wearing a mask tonight, even if he had met Ye Moxuan, the latter would not recognize him.

As for Little Bean, since he was only a five-year-old, he would not normally take note of other people’s appearances. Even if he did notice Ye Moxuan, at most he would just wonder why the man looked like him. He would not pursue the matter.

Hence, she was relieved now, but she couldn’t help herself from asking gently, “Have you been sitting on this swing since just now? You didn’t go anywhere else?”

“Anywhere else? Where do you mean?” Little Bean raised his head and looked at her curiously with his dark eyes.

Such innocent eyes made Han Muzi feel guilty. She cleared her throat lightly and looked away. “Well, just somewhere else. It’s been a long party. Don’t you find it boring after swinging here all this time?”

Little Bean pouted. “Mommy, it’s not boring at all. I met a lot of people here.”

“A lot of people?”

“Yeah! At first, many people wanted to take photos of me, but you told me that I can’t just let strangers take photos of me.”

“And then?” Seeing his serious expression, Han Muzi’s curiosity was aroused. She kneeled and squeezed his soft chin while asking for more information.

“Then I told them fiercely that they are not allowed to take pictures, or else my mommy will be very unhappy.”

“Pfft!” Han Muzi couldn’t help but laugh when she heard Little Bean’s serious words. Then, she squeezed his soft little ears again. “Why did you describe me in such a fierce way? I won’t simply look for trouble, of course. At most… I’ll just sue them for infringing on your privacy and ask them to compensate.”

“Hmph! You are so bad!” Little Bean snorted out loud while reaching out his hand to poke Han Muzi’s fair cheeks before saying, “But Mommy, they didn’t succeed in taking any photos. At first, they were very naughty—they never listened to my instructions and took photos of me anyway! But! After that, a mister came to help me out.”

“Yeah?” Han Muzi didn’t think too much about it, so she smiled and asked, “Since he helped you, did you thank him?”

Little Bean nodded and said that he had thanked the man properly. But after a while, he said, “Though, he is quite strange…”

“Strange?” Han Muzi was puzzled to hear that. “How so?”

“He wears the same mask as me.”

Little Bean suddenly gave away such a shocking piece of information. Han Muzi’s heart almost jumped out of her throat when she heard that, and her eyelids twitched violently too. “W-What did you say? The man who helped you had a mask on?”

“Mm-hmm.” Little Bean nodded in approval. “Yes, Mommy, what’s wrong? Oh, hey…” Little Bean noticed that Han Muzi was holding a silver mask in her hand. “Mommy, your mask looks like that Mister’s. Do you know him?”

Han Muzi remained silent and didn’t answer Little Bean’s question. She just squatted immobile as if she had been electrocuted. A chill ran down her spine and spread all over her body almost instantly. She felt so cold as if she had fallen into an ice cave.

She had already anticipated everything, but she never thought that the two of them would meet. She had already taken all the precautions, but she still couldn’t do anything to prevent Ye Moxuan from meeting Little Bean.

What does he want? Why does he help Little Bean while wearing a mask? Was this incident intentional?

Han Muzi’s lips turned pale. D-Does he already know about Little Bean’s background? Or was it just a coincidence, that they unintentionally met at the dinner party? Or does he already know the truth, and he is just playing with me? If that is the case, what should I do in the future?

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 544

“Mommy?” “Mommy!” Seeing that Han Muzi’s face was as pale as a piece of paper, Little Bean frowned under the mask as he felt a little unhappy. He initially wanted to test his mother, but he didn’t expect her to resist. Sigh!

Little Bean waved his little hand in front of Han Muzi in an attempt to pull her back to her senses. However, Han Muzi seemed to be caught in her thoughts and she couldn’t snap out of it. In that case…

Little Bean suddenly remembered something and didn’t dare to wake Han Muzi up again. Instead, he hurriedly reached out to hug Han Muzi’s neck firmly. When he touched her, it was exactly as he had assumed—her neck was cold and she had broken out in a cold sweat.

“Mommy! Mommy!!!” Little Bean called Han Muzi vigorously, but she didn’t react at all. Seeing her like this, Little Bean was so terrified and he almost sobbed out loud. “Mommy! Talk to me!”

Then, he burst out crying. It was only at this moment that Han Muzi suddenly jerked back to her senses. When she lowered her head and saw him hugging her with red eyes, she suddenly realized that something had happened just now.

“Little bean,” Han Muzi called out his name blankly as if she had just survived a disaster.

“Mommy, I’m here. Please don’t scare me, okay?” Little Bean took off his mask while replying to Han Muzi. Then, he put his warm face on Han Muzi’s cheeks to warm her up.

After Han Muzi recovered her senses, she gradually returned to normal. Little Bean’s physique was very good, so his warmth was continuously passed to her through his clothes. To Han Muzi, it felt like someone had pulled her out of the darkness.

Is he my salvation? Han Muzi pulled Little Bean into a tight embrace and muttered to herself, “Little Bean, no matter what happens, you will always be my baby.”

“Yeah.” Little Bean nodded vigorously. “I will always be your baby. Mommy, don’t be sad anymore…”

He was a considerate person, so he did not ask her any questions. Han Muzi also knew that, since young, this child has been more kind than other children, and she didn’t say anything else. Instead, she just touched his head. “I’m sorry. Did I scare you again?”

Little Bean shook his head. “Don’t be sad, Mommy. I will always be with you.”

“Really?” Han Muzi looked at Little Bean with teary eyes. “What if… someday, someone wants you to leave me?”

The expression on Little Bean’s face suddenly became serious and solemn. “No such thing will happen.”

“I know, I’m just asking what if…”

Little Bean took her hand and put her palm on his cheeks. Then, he gently snuggled in her warm palms. “That day would never come. I will always belong to you and only you. Don’t worry about it anymore, alright?”

“Alright.” Han Muzi forced her tears back and squatted there for a long time before recovering her composure. Then, she handed the mask to Little Bean. “Put the mask on and go back to the room to wait for me. I’ll just take a look at Aunt Yan to see how she is doing.”

“Aunt Yan?”

“She accompanied your Uncle Qing to a business gathering. She probably has drunk a lot of alcohol, so I’m going to check up on her.”

“Hmm.” Little Bean seemed to be lost in thought. His small eyes flicked from side to side as he whispered, “Mommy, I thought you have always wanted to match up Uncle Qing and Aunt Yan?”

Hearing that, Han Muzi was taken aback for a moment, and then she quickly realized what he meant.

“Uncle Qing is already so old. He would be miserable without a wife. Mommy, why don’t we go home first? Hehe, I’m going to sleep with you tonight!”

Han Muzi didn’t know how to reply to him in that instant.

In the end, she helplessly stretched out her hand and pinched Little Bean’s nose. “You mischievous little kid! You must not let your uncle hear you say such things. If he heard you calling him old, he would be very angry with you.”

“Hmph, but you often say that he is old as well.”

“Do you think I say that for fun? It’s only when your uncle wants to set up a blind date for me, that I have no choice but to retaliate that way.”

While they were chatting, unknowingly, Han Muzi’s grief and uncertainty from just now had been driven away by Little Bean. At this moment, she felt that her heart was full, probably because of Little Bean’s reassurance that he would never leave her. Because of that, she felt that she had nothing to be afraid of anymore.

She got up and held Little Bean’s hand and walked back. “Let’s go and pack up our things first. Then, let’s go home.”

“Yeah!” Little Bean nodded vigorously. As he was holding Han Muzi’s hand, he had to tiptoe a little when he walked, and he looked very cute when he did that. He then asked curiously, “Mommy, why don’t you want to go on a blind date ?”

When he brought up this matter, the smile on Han Muzi’s face faded a little. “It’s better for children not to know so many things. You are still so young; why are you such a busybody? You aren’t planning to be a paparazzo in the future, are you?”

Little Bean was speechless upon hearing that and glanced at Han Muzi a little irritably while he pouted. “You don’t care about me at all. I have mentioned before that I want to contribute to the country when I grow up.”

“Hmm.” Han Muzi thought for a while. “If you entertain the public and make them happy, it’s also considered a contribution to the country.” With that, she laughed teasingly.

“Mommy, you are so naughty! I’m going to ignore you now!” With that, Little Bean shook her hand off and ran forward.

Han Muzi watched the little guy run far with a smile on her face, but as she quickened her pace, the smile on her face had faded slightly. Hopefully, that day won’t arrive.

Little Bean was the only support of her soul now. If he was taken away from her one day, she would break down.

While the dinner party was still going on, Yan’s phone suddenly vibrated. She paused just when she was about to make a toast, eliciting a sideways look from Han Qing, who was sitting beside her.

“I’ll look at the message first.” Yan smiled awkwardly as she pulled the zipper of her bag open and took out her phone. After she looked at it for a while, she raised her head. “Muzi said she is tired, so she took Little Bean back to rest first.”

When she said this, Yan’s face was a little red, and she looked at Han Qing shyly. After all, there was a sentence in the message that made her blush.

As soon as she finished her sentence, Han Qing felt his pocket vibrate too. He paused for a moment and took out his phone to look at it. Like Yan, he received a message from Han Muzi as well. She had sent the same message that she sent to Yan to him—that she was tired, so she would take Little Bean back to rest first. After that, she added a rather suggestive sentence.

‘Take care of Yan. If she gets drunk, remember to help me send her back. Or you can take her back to the Han residence since there are many rooms there. Good luck, you middle-aged loner!’

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 545

Han Qing watched this message silently for a while before locking the screen and putting it away. He knew the temperament of his sister. The first part of the message was sent by her, but the tone of the last sentence was not like hers, and it was not difficult to guess the person who was with her at that moment. Little Bean, of course.

Heh! That little guy is such a little devil. Is he playing a prank on me? I’ll teach him a lesson when the time comes.

“Uhm…” Yan looked at Han Qing after she put her phone away. She looked like she was on the verge of saying something, but she stopped herself. Han Qing then looked at her expressionlessly. “What is it?”

“How many other guests do we have to toast?” Yan bit her lower lip and asked. After asking, she felt embarrassed. Would Han Qing think that she was impatient if she asked him this way?

“Are you tired too?” Han Qing asked her back instead of answering.

“No, not at all!” Yan shook her head as a reflex action while she flashed a polite and awkward smile. “My physique is quite good—I won’t be tired after such a short while. I’m just asking.”

She was exhausted, but she had no other choice. The dress that the maid prepared for her tonight had to be matched with these high heels, but she seemed to have put on some weight recently, so her feet became slightly wider. The heels fitted her perfectly before, but tonight, she had to force her feet into them.

After she forced her feet in, it felt alright. She had no problem getting up and walking for a while. But at this moment, after accompanying Han Qing to meet many businessmen, her feet were so painful that she could barely stand still. She whined internally as it felt like she would fall at any moment. However, Yan still forcibly endured the pain for Han Qing’s sake.

“How much alcohol can you take?” Han Qing looked at her while asking her.

After freezing for a while, Yan replied, “M-My tolerance is quite good. I won’t have a problem drinking for a while more.” She was afraid that Han Qing would drive her away.

As for Han Qing, he had been alone for many years. Apart from his sister, Han Muzi, Su Jiu was the closest female to him. Initially, Su Jiu admired him, but he was bad at romance, and his emotional intelligence was particularly low.

For example, when he asked someone a question, ‘yes’ meant ‘yes’, and ‘no’ meant ‘no’.

It was similar to the present situation. When he asked her if she was tired or not, it was not just a perfunctory question—it was a genuine one. When Yan mentioned that she was not tired and she could still drink, Han Qing thought that that was the case.

Therefore, for the next few moments, Yan could only suffer in silence.

While toasting the other businessmen, she endured the pain and dizziness while cursing herself internally, Why, oh why, did I dig a hole for myself? But… he is Han Qing after all. If he was another man, she would already have left.

“President Li.”

After another round of drinking, Yan drank a glass of wine again, and the person on the opposite side looked at her with a smile. “This young lady here can really drink! May I know who you are?”

As soon as he finished speaking, Yan couldn’t hold it anymore after drinking another glass of wine and stumbled forward.

The person who asked her the question immediately changed his expression. He quickly reached out to support her and her fragrance wafted into his senses. He was taken aback for a moment, and just as he was about to say something, a pair of big hands had reached out and taken Yan into his arms.

When the man raised his head, he saw that the person who held Yan was Han Qing, who indifferently led her to him and let Yan lean on his shoulders. He then asked in a deep voice, “Are you all right?”

Yan came back to her senses when she heard Han Qing’s voice and slowly raised her head to look at him hazily.

W-Why can’t I see clearly? Yan looked around blankly and rubbed her eyes as she tried to look at the person in front of her.

She was probably drunk. Her eyes were misty, and she stared at him for a long time. Usually, she wouldn’t even dare to look at him for a second more. Since she had kissed him twice, she immediately hid when she saw Han Qing, not unlike a mouse seeing a cat. Now that she was like this, there was only one explanation—she was drunk.

Han Qing remembered her previous words, and now he could only shake his head. “If you can’t drink, you should’ve just told me. Why must you act tough? President Li, I’m sorry, I have to send her back to rest first. Please help yourself.”

“Sure.” President Li smiled as he watched them leave.

After all, Yan was Han Muzi’s friend, so Han Qing took good care of her. He held her slender arms and prepared to send her to the guest room to rest. After walking for a while, the alcohol had finally settled down in her stomach.

Yan was so drunk that she couldn’t recall the date at that moment. She resisted moving forward and was even unwilling to leave. “I am not walking anymore. Not! Going! To! Walk!”

Han Qing was speechless. He felt troubled as the young woman in front of him actually sat down on the cold floor. As she was wearing a skirt, when she sat down, a pair of fair, slender legs became exposed. It was quite eye-catching.

Han Qing looked away subconsciously, but he was worried that passersby would see her this way. After thinking for a moment, he took off his coat and covered her.

“Stand up,” he spoke with an air of authority that did not allow anyone to reject him.

Yan pouted resentfully. “I can’t get up! My feet hurt!”

Han Qing narrowed his eyes. “Your feet hurt?”

At this moment, Yan was like a little girl. She pointed to her feet with teary eyes. “The shoes are too small. My feet hurt!”

Han Qing looked down at her feet and found that the shoes were indeed too small. They were grasping onto her feet tightly, and the area caught by the flesh had obvious red marks. Upon seeing this, he frowned.

“It hurts,” Yan complained again pitifully. Then, she reached out to pull the shoes off her feet. When Han Qing saw her abrupt movements, he instantly rebuked, “Don’t move!”

Yan ignored him and tried to remove the shoes again, causing Han Qing’s tone to become a little harsher. Meanwhile, he held her hand to stop her. “Didn’t I tell you not to move?”

“Oh, okay.” His tone was too fierce, so Yan didn’t dare to move anymore.

Han Qing lowered his head and held her fair ankle. Then, he slowly took off her shoes for her. Since the shoe had been stuck to her feet so tightly, no matter which way he took it off, it would hurt. The only thing he could do was to do it lightly so that he wouldn’t worsen her pain.

Yan burst into tears because of the pain and shouted, “Be gentler. Oh, please be gentler! Ah!”

Han Qing was focusing hard on trying to take off her shoes, so he didn’t pay attention to what she was yelling. Instead, he frowned tightly. Finally, both shoes were taken off.

He raised his head, only to find that Yan’s eyes were red from crying, and she stared at him resentfully.

Han Qing pursed his lips and asked, “Did it hurt?” Could it be that he was too rough just now?

Yan nodded.

“Bear with it for a while. After a while, it won’t hurt anymore.”

“No.” Yan pursed her lips. “It still hurts.”

“Then what do you want me to do?”

Yan suddenly said something astonishing, “Why don’t you kiss me? If you kiss me… it won’t hurt anymore.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 546

Han Qing was speechless when he heard that. He thought he had heard wrong. Otherwise, how was it possible that the drunk, young woman in front of him would make such a rude request? After so many years, no woman would dare to say such things to him.

Han Qing’s eyes darkened slightly. He looked at the young woman who was looking back at him with pitiful eyes. Finally, he pursed his lips. He had underestimated her.

She already dared to steal kisses from him. Now that it was just a request, of course, she was able to say it out loud.

“Kiss me, please?” When he was mulling things over, Yan urged him impatiently.

Han Qing went speechless again.

He stared helplessly at Yan in front of him; he was a little angry. “Can you still walk?”

“Are you kissing me or not?”

Han Qing decided not to talk to her anymore. He glanced at her with his black irises and grabbed her thin arm to pull her up, while his other hand was still carrying the shoes that he had just taken off her feet.

“Ahh!” Yan was dragged forward by him, but she suddenly let out a scream after taking two steps.

Han Qing turned around. “What’s wrong?”

“My feet hurt!” Yan shook her feet at him. Han Qing didn’t need to look at it. He already knew that her feet were badly injured when he took off her shoes just now, but he didn’t have the habit of holding others in his arms. After thinking for a moment, he squatted. “Get up.”

“Huh?” Yan exclaimed in confusion and stared at his back for a moment. Then, she suddenly gathered enough strength and jumped on his back.

Yan was very light, so she jumped on his back nimbly. Just when Han Qing was about to stand up, Yan suddenly stretched out her arms to hold him tightly around his neck and shouted, “Let’s goooo!”

Han Qing fell silent and resisted the urge to throw her down. He continued walking forward while carrying her. Since Yan was drunk, she was quite the hassle. Fortunately, Han Qing was quite toned, otherwise both of them would fall.

After finally bringing her to the guest room, Han Qing’s expression was already very grim. Just at this moment, he ran into a few maids. “Sir, what happened to Miss Yan?”

“She had too much to drink,” he explained indifferently. “Help her into the room to rest.”

“No problem!”

The two maids quickly stepped forward and helped Yan into the room. However, Yan suddenly went crazy. “You! You come back here!”

Han Qing was tidying up his clothes. He planned to leave as soon as Yan had entered the room, but she suddenly pointed at him and shouted, “You haven’t kissed me yet!”

The two maids were petrified after hearing her words. They quickly glanced at each other and didn’t dare to move.

Yan made a beckoning gesture at Han Qing with her finger. “Come here.”

The two maids who were supporting her stood rooted to the ground, not knowing whether to move forward or backward. Should we disappear this instant?

Han Qing was the owner of this mansion, so they were used to listening to his orders. Hence, they didn’t know what to do before Han Qing spoke.

The surroundings were silent for a while. Han Qing pursed his lips, and his voice became a little cold. “Hurry up and bring her in.”

The two maids froze for a moment and returned to their senses immediately. “Yes, sir. We will send this young lady in immediately.”

When Yan saw that Han Qing was about to leave, she immediately became anxious and shook off the hands of the two maids before running toward Han Qing.

Although she had been complaining that her feet hurt while walking, she looked like she wasn’t drunk at all as she suddenly ran toward Han Qing briskly.

Intuitively, Han Qing wanted to avoid her. But seeing the dazed expression on her face, he knew that if he avoided her, she would fall to the ground—face first.

But while he was thinking about this, Yan had already jumped and clung to him like a koala, with her legs clamped around his waist. The two maids who stood beside them were stunned upon seeing this, and they were at a loss for words.

Han Qing’s face darkened, and blue veins throbbed on his forehead. He stretched out his hands to hold Yan’s waist. Just when he was about to pull her down from his body, Yan’s arms were already wrapped around his neck like a snake, clutching him tightly.

Han Qing paused and watched Yan purse her red lips as she inched toward him.

Actually, he could have easily avoided her. However, Han Qing watched her motions without doing anything. Perhaps it was because her behavior was too bold, so he couldn’t take it anymore and forgot to avoid her.

When Yan’s lips pressed against Han Qing’s, she didn’t move and remained still. Probably because she was drunk, Yan was quite courageous. Previously, when she stole kisses from him, it was just touching and leaving—where Yan would run away before he could even react. But this time, she seemed to be competing with him. Her lips kept pressing against him without moving, and her eyes were still wide open.

Han Qing was rendered speechless.

When his thin lips moved subconsciously, Yan thought he wanted to escape, so she opened her mouth and bit him.

The maids were still dumbfounded.

In pain, Han Qing grabbed Yan’s slender arms and pulled her away forcefully. Then, he glanced at the two maids with pitch-black eyes. “Aren’t you leaving?”

The two maids finally recovered their senses and left immediately.

Han Qing couldn’t pull Yan down, because she hung on him like an octopus. When he removed her arms, her legs were still on him; when he removed her legs, her mouth came. In short, she had used every inch of her body to cling on to him.

Initially, he wanted her to enter the room herself. But in the end, Han Qing had to follow her into the room.

Thud!

As he didn’t want other maids to see him being rendered helpless by a young woman, Han Qing closed the door after entering and brought Yan to the bed. “Lie down and stop all the fuss. Otherwise, don’t even think of sleeping in the guest room tonight.”

“Hmph!” Alcohol could make one extremely courageous. The things that Yan usually fantasized about doing with him had all been unleashed now. She said directly, “Then I will not sleep in the guest room. I will go to your room to sleep with you.”

Not knowing how to respond to that, Han Qing frowned. What on earth is going on with Muzi’s friend? After taking advantage of me three times, she still insists on talking nonsense?

After thinking for a while, he figured that he shouldn’t be arguing with a drunk person, or she would only become more arrogant. Instead, he said, “Fine. If you sleep in the guest room and be obedient, there will be a reward.”

“Reward?” Yan blinked like a curious baby. “What reward?”

“I’ll tell you when you wake up.”

His words were very useful. Yan, who was still wrapped around his arms a second ago, immediately lay down on the bed. Then, she covered herself in the blanket and looked at Han Qing affectionately. “I’ll go to bed now. When I wake up tomorrow, you must tell me.”

“Okay.”

After that, Yan lay down and fell asleep. After a while, Han Qing heard her breathing become even. After staring at her for a while and making sure she would not wake up again, Han Qing tidied himself up and turned to leave the room. Since he was the host of the dinner party tonight, he couldn’t leave too early.

Soon after, Han Qing left, and Yan slept soundly in the room.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 547

The next day. Han Muzi seemed to smell the scent of food in her sleep. She touched her stomach and turned over. She didn’t manage to eat anything because she went to the dinner party last night.

When she returned, she only ate a bowl of noodles before resting with Little Bean. It was probably because of her extreme hunger that she could smell the aroma of food.

Han Muzi pondered for a while and glanced at the sunlight outside the window. After taking out the phone and looking at the time, she found that Little Bean, who had been sleeping next to her last night, was gone.

After she froze for a moment, Han Muzi changed and went downstairs. Unexpectedly, she saw food on the table. The first thought that crossed her mind was—is Yan back? However, when she walked to the kitchen, she saw a little boy standing on a stool and reaching out to grab ingredients out of the cabinet.

Seeing this, Han Muzi’s expression changed slightly, but she didn’t say a word. She quietly looked at Little Bean until he had successfully taken the ingredients he wanted and then walked forward with a sigh of relief.

“What were you doing just now?”

Hearing Han Muzi’s voice, Little Bean was startled. His black eyes blinked with an innocent expression on his face. “Mommy, I was cooking just now.”

“Cooking?” Han Muzi frowned. “Since when did you learn how to cook? Do you know how dangerous it was just now? What if you fell?”

No one but Han Muzi knew that her heart had almost jumped to her throat when she saw Little Bean standing on the stool and stretching out to take something. She was worried that he would fall off by accident. What would she do if that happened?

But no matter how nervous and afraid she was, she dared not scold him—for fear that she would scare him if she called him out directly.

“Mommy, don’t worry. I will be very careful; I won’t fall down!” he emphasized to Han Muzi with a serious expression on his face.

Then, he went into the dining room to place the bowls and chopsticks on the table before turning around to call Han Muzi, “Mommy, breakfast is ready. Come have breakfast!”

Han Muzi was so angry at his actions that she stood still without moving an inch.

Seeing her stand still, Little Bean took the initiative to walk over to hold her hand. But he didn’t manage to pull Han Muzi, so he apologized softly, “Mommy, I know I was wrong. Next time, I won’t stand on such a tall stool anymore.”

“Next time?” Han Muzi narrowed her eyes.

Little Bean hurriedly changed the way he phrased his sentence. “This won’t happen next time, Mommy. I put so much effort into making breakfast, don’t you want any? It will be cold later.”

Han Muzi didn’t reply to him. After hearing him say that, her heart had softened. Indeed, this was the breakfast that her precious son got up early to make for her. How can she not eat it? Wouldn’t that be ungrateful?

Seeing that Han Muzi’s expression had softened, Little Bean quickly pulled her over to sit down at the dining table. The two of them sat down while Han Muzi looked at the breakfast in front of her.

It was a simple breakfast—a sunny-side-up egg prepared by Little Bean, freshly toasted bread, and soy milk. As Yan was a good cook, they had all the necessary ingredients.

Pursing her lips, Han Muzi took a bite of the sunny-side-up and found that the egg was fried just right—it was delicious.

She was somewhat taken aback and she looked at Little Bean, who was looking at her expectantly.

“Mommy, is it delicious?” He looked hopeful as if he was waiting for her compliment.

Of course, Han Muzi would smother her son with compliments. She nodded and smiled. “It’s so much better than I expected.”

“Thank you, Mommy! In that case, eat more. If you like it, I can make it for you every day.”

Han Muzi remained silent upon hearing that. Suddenly, in that instant, she felt that the egg she had eaten was not that delicious anymore. She thought about it for a while and asked softly, “Little Bean, when did you learn to make all these?”

“Uhm, just recently, Mommy.”

Han Muzi paused before asking, “Are you lying to me?”

“Mommy?”

“How did you make such a delicious breakfast? Tell me, when did you learn it? And why did you learn this?”

“Hehe.” Little Bean showed a childlike, innocent smile before saying seriously, “Are you praising my cooking skills, Mommy? I didn’t learn it specifically. Since I often followed Aunt Yan, I slowly picked up cooking from her.”

From Yan?

Yan had always been responsible for their meals, and sometimes Han Muzi would also cook when she was free. At times, Little Bean would stay by their side and watch them. However, she wasn’t the one who cooked most of the time.

“Mommy, I know you are too tired sometimes, so I want to help you out a little.”

Hearing this, Han Muzi felt extremely upset. She had never wanted her child to be more considerate than other children. Because that meant that Little Bean was not spoiled. This was why he grew into a mature, little adult. But seeing that Little Bean had become like this, it proved that she didn’t shower him with enough love.

Thinking of this, Han Muzi didn’t speak anymore. Instead, she silently finished the sunny-side-up and drank some soy milk.

She hadn’t smiled anymore since then. Seeing her unhappy look, Little Bean asked morosely, “Are you upset because what I made is unappetizing?”

Han Muzi returned to her senses and quickly smiled at him again while denying, “Of course not. Little Bean, you’ve done a great job.”

She reached out her hand to caress Little Bean’s head and said gently, “But next time you are not allowed to get up so early to make breakfast for me. You are only a child, so you’ll just have to wait for Mommy to cook for you. If you want to eat anything, just let me know. I’ll get up to cook for you, alright?”

Little Bean blinked and finally nodded. “Got it, Mommy!”

“Don’t just say that. Remember it!” Han Muzi reminded him again.

“Yes!!”

At the Han residence.

“Uhh…” Yan was in a deep slumber, but she suddenly fell from the bed after turning over.

Thump! She landed directly on the hard floor, which made her wake up from the pain. She clutched her aching arm and slowly stood up with a confused expression on her face. What happened…

She remembered that her bed was against the wall and had railings. Because of her sleeping habits, her bed was custom-made. So, how could she fall?

Yan scratched her hair frantically, but in the next second, she saw an unexpected figure.

On the balcony outside the room, a slender figure sat there. He was reading a book and only his side-profile was evident. His entire body was almost bathed in the sunlight. The morning sun was soft and gently outlined his body.

After watching him for a while, Yan couldn’t help herself from fangirling. She cupped her face with both hands and stared at Han Qing blankly. Ah, what a nice morning!

“It would be great if I could see my crush in my dream every day,” Yan said wistfully in the end.

However, Han Qing suddenly moved. His indifferent gaze fell on her face as he opened his mouth. “You’re up?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 548

Yan paused and looked at the person in front of her in disbelief. Did I hear wrong? My crush is asking me if I’m up? Isn’t this in my dream? Why is he talking to me?

Thinking of this, Yan blinked, but she still couldn’t return to her senses. Perhaps it was because of the lingering effects of the alcohol last night that still made her confused today.

Seeing her staring at himself blankly, Han Qing remembered the events that happened last night and everything that had happened before that. He pursed his thin lips and closed the book with a thud.

The sound had made Yan sober up. Something’s wrong. If it’s just a dream, why is it so real? And Han Qing seems a little cold? What’s going on?

Yan bit her lower lip and got up from the ground. She looked quite disheveled when she got up. Sleeping in the dress she wore last night, one of the straps hung off her shoulder and revealed her fair skin. Her dress was creased, offering Han Qing glimpses of her body.

Han Qing’s face darkened slightly, and he diverted his attention just in time.

After standing up, Yan still felt dizzy. She couldn’t help but stretch out her hand to clutch the back of her head in pain and muttered to herself, “Why does… my head feel so heavy?”

“Where is this? It’s not my room…”

“Is this not a dream?”

After mumbling to herself, Han Qing suddenly spoke to her in an aloof manner, “Wear your clothes properly.”

Hearing that, Yan lowered her head and realized the miserable condition of her dress. Her facial expression immediately changed as she hurriedly straightened her dress. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it.”

This can’t be a dream. Otherwise, why is he so cold? Thinking of this, Yan stretched her hand out to her arm and gave herself a hard squeeze. She probably didn’t expect that it would be so painful, so she yelled out in pain, “Ow!”

It’s not a dream! Does that mean Han Qing saw the condition I was in just now—with the dress? Oh no, would he think that I did it on purpose? Thinking of this, Yan’s face became sullen as she bit her lower lip.

At this time, Han Qing had already walked to her.

She raised her head and glanced at Han Qing shyly. Her feet, which were on the cold floor, took a few steps back subconsciously. “I-I’m sorry, President Han. It was unintentional; I didn’t mean it just now…”

Han Qing’s eyes bore into hers intently. “Didn’t mean what?”

Yan was stunned for a long time before saying, “I didn’t mean to seduce you.”

Han Qing didn’t speak. Instead, he continued to stare at her with his emotionless black eyes—which were quite terrifying. Yan didn’t even dare to face him directly, so she could only keep her head down.

However, quite unexpectedly, when she lowered her head just now, her chin was suddenly pinched by a pair of hands. The next second, she was forced to look up.

Yan’s eyes widened as she looked at Han Qing in disbelief. Her heart began to thump wildly. Be calm. I must keep it steady.

When Han Qing leaned forward slightly, Yan’s eyes became even wider. What’s going on? Did Han Qing fall for me after we spent a night together? Is he going to kiss me now?

Thinking of this, Yan was excited and nervous. She slowly closed her eyes and pursed her lips subconsciously. However, the expected kiss did not arrive.

Feeling a little disappointed, Yan opened her eyes and saw Han Qing staring at her impassively. Her lips trembled a little when she realized what a stupid thing she had done just now.

“Do you like me?” Han Qing asked while pinching her chin.

His voice was slow and laced with the unique charm of a middle-aged man. She had always found his looks attractive. Therefore, when he looked closely at her like this, Yan felt that her soul would be sucked into his eyes.

Admit it! If you don’t admit it now, what on earth are you doing? There seemed to be another person shouting in Yan’s mind. Just when she was about to muster the courage to admit it, Han Qing’s tone suddenly became much colder.

“Don’t fall in love with me.”

Yan paused for a moment before stuttering, “W-W-What?”

Han Qing’s gaze became much colder, and he let go of her after pursing his lips.

“After finding my long-lost sister, Muzi, all I want to do in my life is to make up to her, so I won’t waste time on other women.”

Yan was a little startled, but she could understand his reasoning. However, she gulped and explained, “But Muzi doesn’t need you to take care of her all the time. She wants to have her own life too, and she also hopes you can find a partner.”

“That is not a reason you can take advantage of.”

His straightforward reply made Yan turn pale. Her lips quivered before saying, “I-I didn’t mean to take advantage of it. I just—”

“I think I’ve made myself very clear! You should know what to do next.”

Yan lowered her eyes that were already quite misty. A lump formed in her throat as she resisted the urge to cry. How ridiculous. What am I fantasizing about? He is the powerful President Han. How could he like someone like me—a nobody?

Although she was very close with Han Muzi, that didn’t mean that Han Qing would like her. As she thought of this, Yan stubbornly bit her lower lip and clenched her fists angrily. Suddenly, she raised her head and retorted, “So what? You are right—I do like you. But I never had any intentions of taking advantage of anything. And listen to this properly—me liking you has nothing to do with you liking me. As long as you don’t reciprocate my feelings, you can’t say that I’m taking advantage of you. You have no right to say that!”

Han Qing was rendered speechless. He frowned as he looked at the young woman who was trying to argue with him. Her hair was quite messy because she had just woken up, but her eyes were amazingly clear right now. Does she still believe what she did was correct?

He was also so stubborn before, but that was many years ago.

Noticing his silence, Yan gritted her teeth. “You didn’t even need to reject me like this. Although I like you, I have never confessed to you, so your rejection is invalid! I will assume I didn’t hear anything today!”

Han Qing narrowed his eyes slightly.

Yan became angrier and angrier. Her entire face was flushed red, and her eyes were opened wide. Tears were brimming under her eye sockets.

“Hmph, I haven’t even confessed to you. How can you reject me like this?” With that, she reached out her hand to harshly wipe the tears from her eyes in an attempt to cheer herself up quickly. “Thank you for taking me to the guest room last night. I am going back now.”

Han Qing retracted his gaze and said in an indifferent voice, “Suit yourself.”

Yan sniffed and suddenly stared at his suit. “Take off your coat and lend it to me.”

“What?”

Yan pointed to her clothes. “Or else? Do you expect me to wear this outside?”

After a night of destruction, it was indeed impossible for her to go outside wearing this dress. After thinking for a while, Han Qing said solemnly, “I’ll ask the maids to bring you some clothes.”

“No!” Yan suddenly got angry and pointed at him. “I want your coat as compensation for hurting me!”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 549

Han Qing looked at her for a long while before suddenly saying, “I don’t think I’ve done anything to hurt you.” “You did! Your words just now have hurt my weak soul—the soul of a young, innocent woman.” Han Qing was speechless when he heard that.

“Give it to me!” Yan stretched out her hand and confidently asked for the coat from Han Qing. He was stumped by her stubbornness, but after seeing her firm expression, he finally relented and unbuttoned his coat to take it off.

Yan took the coat and put it on. After rubbing her eyes, she turned around and walked out the door. “Let Mr. Nan send you off.” “No need for that!”

Yan left quickly, but Han Qing stood still and pondered, Which part of my words hurt her? I merely said whatever was on my mind.

At the company, Han Muzi made a cup of coffee for herself and looked at the empty seat next to her.

She recalled that she had completely entrusted Yan to her brother last night, but she didn’t expect that Yan hadn’t come to the company yet. Thinking of this, Han Muzi’s lips curled up unconsciously.

Thud! Han Muzi looked up when the office door was suddenly opened. After seeing Yan’s expressionless face, the smile on Han Muzi’s face disappeared.

After Yan entered, she went directly to her seat and sat down with her head buried in her hands.

Upon seeing this, Han Muzi’s lips moved. She put down the coffee in her hand and got up to walk to Yan. “What’s the matter?”

Before this, she wanted to tease Yan by asking her how her night had been, but when she saw Yan come in, she noticed that her eyes were red and puffy. Naturally, Yan did not answer her question.

Han Muzi didn’t get anxious at all. Instead, she pulled a chair to sit down beside her and waited patiently. For about three to five minutes, Yan raised her head and looked at her tearfully.

Han Muzi felt a stab of pain in her heart as she took a piece of tissue to wipe the tears from her face. “Hush, hush. Tell me what happened. If you can’t talk this instant, I can give you a day off. You can go back and rest. ”

Yan suddenly turned around and asked pitifully, “Muzi, am I ugly?”

Taken aback by that, Han Muzi thought she had a vague idea about what was going on here. She then shook her head. “Why would you think that?”

“I’m not ugly? But am I not attractive enough? Or is it because I am too poor?”

While asking, tears incessantly streamed down her face. Yan looked quite miserable at this moment.

“I didn’t like Han Qing before, but he frequently came over to visit you when we were abroad. After seeing him day in and day out, how could I have not been moved by him? If he wasn’t single, there wouldn’t be a problem. But he is single, so I developed feelings for him. Only now do I realize how absurd and ridiculous I was for thinking this way…”

Han Muzi became silent for a while. She wanted to comfort Yan, but when she opened her mouth, she didn’t know what to say.

“Muzi, do I have no self-awareness at all? I know it’s impossible, but I still like him.”

Seeing her tearful eyes, Han Muzi couldn’t help but sigh lightly and reach out to wipe the tears from the corners of Yan’s eyes. She said softly, “Of course not. Love is illogical, and it overpowers everything else. If someone has full control of their feelings, they can’t possibly be human anymore. We are ordinary people, so we have various emotions and desires. It is natural for you to like him, and it is normal if he doesn’t like you. This has nothing to do with self-awareness whatsoever. You must not feel inferior because of this.”

“How do you know that I feel inferior?”

Han Muzi paused shortly and her beautiful eyes dodged Yan slightly. How do I know?

Han Muzi didn’t even pause to think about that question. But for the sake of comforting Yan, she let out a self-deprecatory smile.

“When I liked him back then, I had the same feelings as you do now.”

Yan was stunned upon hearing that, but she returned to her senses in the next second. She sniffed before saying in a touching voice, “Muzi, I’m so touched. I didn’t expect you to reopen your old wounds to comfort me.”

Han Muzi paused before saying, “So, are you still sad now?”

Yan nodded. “A little, but I can understand how you felt back then. It’s only unrequited love for me now, and I already feel so miserable after being rejected by him. Back then, I can’t imagine—”

Han Muzi’s expression changed slightly after Yan started rambling about that, and she hurriedly interrupted her, “Alright, let’s not talk about what happened in the past. Tell me what happened last night? Didn’t you accompany my brother to see his clients? Why did you suddenly get rejected?”

“Hmph!” Yan grumbled, “Your brother pinched my chin and asked if I liked him!”

Hearing that, Han Muzi was a little surprised. When she was picturing that scene in her mind, she felt surprised.

Han Qing… is the type of man who would pinch a woman’s chin? In Han Muzi’s impression, Han Qing had always been a very reliable brother. Even when they didn’t know each other before, Han Qing was usually very prim and uptight. How could he hold a woman’s chin so casually?

Thinking of this, Han Muzi’s expression changed a little when she looked at Yan. She pursed her lips. “What then? What did you say?”

“What did I say? Before I had time to say anything, your brother told me not to fall in love with him! Hmph! Who cares? Even before I had the chance to confess, he already rejected me. Isn’t he just ridiculous? Muzi, you won’t be angry with me for talking about your brother like this, will you?”

Seeing her angry expression, Han Muzi felt like laughing instead, so she shook her head. “Of course not.”

After so many years, Yan’s love for Han Qing had deepened. At this moment, it was just her ego that was hurt after being rejected. After today, she might have recovered already. On top of that, Yan was the type of person who wouldn’t give up unless she had faced a harsh defeat.

“Alright, let’s stop talking about this. If you don’t want to go home to rest, get back to work.” With that, Han Muzi glanced at her coat thoughtfully before turning back to her desk.

Knock! Knock!

“Come in.”

The office door was pushed open and Leng Yueyue poked her head in. She seemed a little hesitant, but she soon thought it through and walked into the room.

Han Muzi raised her eyes to look at her. “What’s up?”

Leng Yueyue put a folder in front of her. “This is my design that I have been working on for the past few days. What do you think about it?”

Han Muzi reached out and took the file. After looking through it, she discovered that it was designed for men. She remembered that she had given Leng Yueyue responsibility of Ye Moxuan’s business deal.

While looking at it, Han Muzi heard Leng Yueyue ask, “What do you think of these designs?”

“They’re pretty good. Your technique has improved. You are much more experienced now,” Han Muzi praised.

“But… these were all rejected by President Ye.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 550

Leng Yueyue was very happy upon hearing Han Muzi’s praises. After all, Han Muzi was a stellar achiever and Leng Yueyue revered her as an idol. However, she was sad that Ye Moxuan had rejected her work. If he did not admit that her design work was up to par, she would never be able to settle this order.

If she couldn’t settle this order, she wouldn’t get a bonus as well. This was the part that troubled Leng Yueyue the most.

Hearing that, Han Muzi’s hand rested on the folder that she had been flipping through. After a while, she closed the folder and said, “Did he reject your work in person?”

Leng Yueyue shook her head. “No, I didn’t even get to see him. His assistant was the one who told me that President Ye was not satisfied with my work and asked me to stop fooling around with such low-quality works. This is the reason why I brought it here for you to have a look. Are my skills that bad?”

“It’s not that you are not good.” Han Muzi shook her head and looked at Leng Yueyue in the eye. “When I gave you this order, I told you that this is a huge order and that it is more difficult than any other orders. Even I can’t handle it.”

“Yeah.”

“In that case, you’ll need to have a lot of patience to finish it. Even if you don’t succeed in the end, I think the process alone can help you improve.”

Although Ye Moxuan wasn’t in their industry, he was very picky and his taste was very unique, so it would be good practice for Leng Yueyue.

“Alright, I got it. I will go back and continue designing.”

“Go ahead.”

After Leng Yueyue left, Yan tugged on her coat and looked at Han Muzi sullenly. “You know that she will never succeed, so why did you let her manage this deal? I think that we would’ve been better off breaching the contract in the beginning; we wouldn’t have to deal with so much hassle now.”

“No use regretting now. If we could break off the contract since the beginning, we wouldn’t be having so much trouble now.”

Han Muzi stretched out her hands and massaged her temples. She, too, had no idea how long this was going to stretch out with Ye Moxuan.

Her memories of the banquet last night were still vivid. The way he spoke in her ears, the passionate kiss, and the intimate movements, replayed in her mind over and over again. Although she didn’t want to be with him anymore, her body seemed to think otherwise as she kept thinking about him.

After Han Muzi’s background had been publicly exposed, many clients who were interested in doing business together had arrived at the company. Yan adjusted her mental state to deal with them. After a day, she was exhausted.

“If I knew that holding a banquet to reveal your background will bring us so many orders, we should have done this long ago when we first returned to North City.”

Han Muzi hesitated before saying “We can’t handle so many people arriving at once.”

Seeing that it was way past the usual time for people to knock off work, Han Muzi’s expression changed slightly as she urged Yan, “Hurry up and pack your things. We are going to pick up Little Bean and go home.”

Yan returned to her senses and quickly packed up her things. After donning Han Qing’s coat, she walked out with Han Muzi.

After the two went home to pick up Little Bean, he couldn’t help exclaiming when he saw Yan’s coat as soon as he got into the car. “Aunt Yan, are you wearing Uncle Qing’s coat?”

Hearing that, Yan glared at him fiercely. “Why are your eyes so sharp? Who did you take after?”

Little Bean hugged Yan’s arm. “Aunt Yan, are you going to be my aunt for real?”

Yan rolled her eyes angrily. “Well, I would very much like that, but unfortunately, your Uncle Qing doesn’t want me to.”

She didn’t want to admit it before because she felt shy. However, now that Han Qing had known her feelings and rejected her on the spot, Yan didn’t care about it anymore.

Hearing that, Han Muzi couldn’t help but laugh softly. “Well, she might not be your aunt now, but maybe she will be in the future.”

Yan glared at her.

The three of them chatted and laughed while they returned to their neighborhood. When they passed the logistics office of their neighborhood, the person-in-charge stopped them to tell them that a parcel had arrived for them and asked them to bring it along with them.

Yan volunteered to take it. When she picked up the box, the manager of the logistic office complained, “What have you bought? It smells weird.”

“It’s nothing much—just some ingredients I bought online. It might have a strong smell, but it shouldn’t be that bad.” With that, Yan took a deep breath, and she did detect an awful smell. Hmm, this is weird. What’s going on?

“What happened?” Han Muzi asked while she was standing by the door. Yan recovered to her senses and walked out with the box in her hand.

“It’s nothing—just the ingredients I bought online. They smell bad. Let’s go back and unpack them first. If there is a problem, I will ask the seller to refund me the full amount.”

“Alright.”

As the elevator was a confined space and they lived on a higher floor, other residents frequently cast strange glances at them when they entered the elevator. Han Muzi frowned slightly as she looked at the box Yan was holding.

This smell… is indeed quite bad. Is it rotten?

They had finally arrived home under great pressure. Yan put the box on the floor and said, “Don’t touch it, the both of you. I’ll take a knife to open the box. I want to see if the seller has mailed me some faulty product. The smell is so pungent; I almost fainted in the elevator just now. I don’t believe I bought this myself.”

Han Muzi didn’t think much into it and nodded before going upstairs. She entered the room and put her bag down. Just as she was about to change into casual clothes, she heard a scream from downstairs. This scream was very shrill, and it sent chills down her spine.

Han Muzi was stunned for a few seconds before turning around and rushing downstairs. Then, she found Yan squatting on the ground motionless as if she had been electrocuted.

“What’s wrong?” Han Muzi stepped forward quickly. But after taking a few steps, she suddenly stopped and looked like her system had crashed. Both of them stood frozen to the ground.

A strange silence fell in the living room.

Looking at the opened box, Han Muzi’s originally calm face turned slightly pale, and unstable emotions flashed in her eyes.

“What’s wrong, Aunt Yan?” Little Bean, who had just gone upstairs, also walked downstairs at this moment. Seeing that they both stood rooted to the ground, he walked over to them.

Han Muzi’s expression changed, and she suddenly yelled, “Go back!”

Little Bean stopped dead in his tracks. “Mommy?”

He stood still and tilted his head while looking at Han Muzi; his dark eyes looked confused.

Han Muzi looked at the contents of the box with erratic breathing. “Be good and go back upstairs. If I don’t call you, don’t come out.”

Although Little Bean felt very curious, he listened to Han Muzi’s orders and nodded. Then, he turned back to his room upstairs.

Han Muzi breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that Little Bean had returned to the room.

At this moment, Yan turned her head around mechanically and looked at Han Muzi with a pale face.

“M-Muzi, what should we do?”
