Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 721

Han Muzi was rendered speechless. Think for myself? “Do I need to?” She blinked while looking at Han Qing with confused eyes, as though she was baffled by what he had just said. “I’m fine. Qing… please tell me. Didn’t the rescue team go out today? What the hell are they doing? How can they leave him there and do nothing?” The more she said, the more agitated she became. Then, she gave Han Qing’s hand a hard push as she wanted to get down the bed.

“Enough!” Han Qing scolded her in a stern voice. “The rescue team did go out today, but they went to pull up corpses!”

Han Muzi stopped all her movement and sat there in a daze After a long, long time, she lifted her head and glanced at him with an emotionless face. Later on, she seemingly sneered. “What do you mean?”

“Muzi, as my little sister, you’re not a foolish person. You should be clear about what I’m saying.”

Han Muzi gave a mocking smile. “I should be clear? Qing, are you saying that Ye Moxuan is dead?”

Han Qing’s pupils shrank at her words. The word ‘dead’ had been floating around in his mind, but he did not dare to say it out, so he could only beat around the bush. He was surprised to hear her saying it out loud. He did not respond, but he placed his hand on her shoulders and took a deep breath before speaking in a soft voice, “Don’t worry. You should sit down first. The doctor will come later to give you a thorough check.”

“Qing, even if he is dead, I still want to see his body with my own eyes. Otherwise… I won’t accept it.” Han Muzi raised her head to look at Han Qing—eye to eye. “I understand the words you said previously, but if you’re saying that the rescue team went there to pull up corpses, then where is Ye Moxuan’s body?”

Han Qing pressed his thin lips. “It’s normal for them to not find the body in such a turbulent sea.”

“How is that normal? Why can they find others but not his?” As she talked about it, she suddenly thought of something and held on to Han Qing’s sleeve tightly. “Qing, do you think it’s possible… that Moxuan didn’t even fall into the sea? He is such a smart person, so he definitely knew how to control a parachute properly. He might not necessarily have landed near the sea area. Maybe… he landed somewhere else. Qing, do you think it’s possible?”

This was mentioned to Han Qing by Su Jiu before, but he did not give it much thought. However, after Han Muzi explained to him convincingly, it planted the notion inside his mind, so he pressed his lips. “There is a chance that he might have landed on somewhere else. Don’t worry. All you need to do now is stay in the hospital and recover your body. I’ll send someone to look for him near that area right away.”

Han Muzi nodded vigorously. “You must find him. I believe that he won’t abandon me. He just reunited with me and his son. He will definitely not abandon us.” A smile crossed her lips as though she had just seen a ray of light in the dark.

Seeing her like this, thousands of emotions popped up inside Han Qing’s heart. It was so complicated that he did not know what to say. Of course he knew that the bigger the hope, the deeper the disappointment later on. But what else can I do now? As long as there is still hope, even a little, shouldn’t it be done also?

After Han Qing told her that he would send someone over, Han Muzi finally felt relieved. However, she was unable to sit down quietly and wait in the hospital, so after waking up the next evening, she insisted to be discharged from the hospital so that she could follow everyone to find Ye Moxuan.

Han Qing became a bit mad at her. “You know clearly what your body is like now. You really want to be sick again before he is found? If you are so certain that he didn’t land on that sea area, then you shouldn’t be so careless like now and follow everybody to find him.”

Han Muzi was dumbfounded. Yes. I… believe in him.

“Instead, you should stay put in the hospital to recover your body and wait for him to find you.”

Wait for him to find me? Han Muzi lowered her eyes and thought for a while. She thought about it for so long that Han Qing suspected that she would refuse him. To his surprise, she nodded and said to him in a soft voice, “Alright. I’ll stay here and wait for him to find me then.”

Han Qing was shocked as he did not expect her to listen after what he had just said. Looks like… she wasn’t kidding when she wanted to give Ye Moxuan all her trust.

After the plane crash, the media quickly brought the news back to North City. It only took a day before everyone in North City knew that Ye Moxuan of the Ye Group had an accident. After they learnt about the accident, everyone knew that the famous lady of the Han Family, Han Muzi, was left alone at the wedding. The grand wedding that was envied by countless people fell through just like that.

When everyone knew about the ending, most people sobbed and sighed at the unpredictability of life. Of course, while there were people sobbing, there were also people who mocked it.

“Serves them right to hold the wedding abroad. If they just held the wedding in the country, then none of this would happen, right? Rich people always like to do lots of tricks. Now look at them… Gone!”

“You’re actually right. They could have just simply chosen a place in the country to hold the wedding and spend the rest of their lives happily. Why did they even need to go abroad?”

“It really serves them right to admire everything foreign, right? What a great accident!”

Someone who remained quiet throughout the conversation suddenly spoke, “It’s not right for you all to talk like that. People will always strive for a better life. Is it wrong for the Young Master Ye of the Ye Group to show his deep affection for his lovely wife-to-be by holding an unforgettable wedding for her? If he has the ability to earn that much money, then he is completely entitled to tell the whole world who he loves, especially when it is between two big families. What happened to them could only be explained by the unpredictability of life and misfortune.”

“Are you trying to be funny? Why are you talking for them now? Did they pay you to say this?”

“You can’t say it like that. Even we don’t know what our fate is going to be like tomorrow. Can you guarantee that you will be safe and carefree for the rest of your life?”

The person was left speechless. After being called out, he simply stopped speaking and let out a grunt before leaving.

Inside a western restaurant, after she saw the news, Meng Xueyou let out a maniacal and terrifying laugh that shocked the people around her. All of them turned their head toward her and watched as though she was insane. However, she refused to care about the expression in their eyes. She only knew that she was exceptionally pleased inside.

Initially, she wanted to make life a living hell for them after knowing that they were getting married, but Han Qing unexpectedly sent people over to keep an eye on her, so she could not do anything. Great. Then I guess I’ll just keep on cursing the two of you.

“Han Muzi, you never expected this, right? My curse actually worked. You two… really can’t be together. You won’t be happy together.” As she continued laughing, she suddenly felt a little sad while seeing news about Ye Moxuan’s accident. After all, she… liked him! Back then, he was her love at first sight. Everyday, she thought about having that man all to herself and that was why she did those series of things.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 722

Meng Xueyou even felt that she was the only one suitable for Ye Moxuan.

The Ye Family was a big family who had a huge business, so she used her identity back then to do some investigation. At the end, she found out about the bad relationship between the two siblings, Ye Moxuan and Ye Linhan. On top of that, she also knew of some secrets about the Ye Family that no one knew. So, she felt that she suited Ye Moxuan more.

That was why when Ye Moxuan saw through her cunning scheme, she hugged his hand and said, “Compared to Shen Qi, I’m more suited for you. Didn’t you go back to the Ye Family just to seize power? I can do that! If you choose to be with me, the whole Han Family and I will back you till the end. By that time, the Ye Family will be in your pocket. As for Ye Linhan, I can help you get rid of him.”

She felt that career and power was more important to a man. That was why, compared to Shen Qi, who had someone else’s child inside of her, she was certain that Ye Moxuan would definitely choose her without hesitation. However, she was wrong. After she said those words, Ye Moxuan actually sneered at her and pushed her away. She took a step back and fell to the icy floor while looking at him in disbelief. “You don’t want to? Why? Don’t you want to seize the Ye Family in your hand? Don’t you want revenge?”

Ye Moxuan glared at her as if she was a corpse as there was not any temperature or affection in his eyes. “Heh, are you overestimating yourself or underestimating me? I’m determined to seize the Ye Family, but I, Ye Moxuan, am not that low by using a woman to get what I want. Why do I need to rely on that little power of the Han Family? I wouldn’t even look at it.”

The arrogance! The undeniable arrogance! This was Han Xueyou’s thought back then, but Ye Moxuan was not interested in her help at all. Even though she knew clearly that he had rejected her, she still could not help but be crazily infatuated by that man. The man was stone cold, decisive and determined. Although she knew he had no interest in her at all, she still madly loved him, so she clung to him no matter how he treated her. However, before she did anything else, the truth about her identity as the lady of the Han Family was discovered. Soon after, she was hauled out of the Han Family. Then, she lost her status as the lady of the Han Family as she roamed around the streets.

Despite the discovery of her fake identity, Han Qing decided not to send her to the police station because of her previous friendship with Shen Qi, but she was forbidden to take away anything given to her before by the Han Family. After she had lost everything, she roamed around the streets without anywhere to go. In the end, she returned to the house of her gambling father. As expected, she received a beating after that. Even though she was beaten to a pulp, she did not have the money to treat herself in the hospital.

Afterward, Meng Xueyou refused to stay in that house much longer. Without any place to go to, the only choice she had was to work. Nevertheless, she was so used to being the lady of the Han Family that she realized she could not do most of the labor as it was either too dirty or tiring for her. Therefore, she continuously got fired or she left the job after half a day. In the very end, she did not even earn a cent of money and was dragged to the bar by her father’s creditors…

She could not bear to reflect on the past. As Meng Xueyou thought about her past memories, she felt like dying instead.

She believed that her fall from grace was all because of Shen Qi. She presumed that Shen Qi was jealous of her for taking Ye Moxuan away, so she took revenge by snatching her identity, which caused her to endure different kinds of hardships. Everytime she reminisced about it, it was all blood and tears. Now, seeing her losing Ye Moxuan, Meng Xueyou felt the pleasure stir inside her. This was what she deserved for the pain she caused her. Yet, it is still a pity. Ye Moxuan…

Meng Xueyou caressed the eyebrows of the handsome man in the photo with her finger and she smiled gently. “If only I was by your side back then; it would be so great and none of this would have happened today.”

On the other side, when Ye Linhan heard about the news, he suddenly tightened his fingers on the pen he was holding to sign with. “What are you saying? Ye Moxuan had an accident?”

The man who came to him nodded with a sly face. “Young Master Linhan, I already had someone to look into it. I’ve heard that the sea area Young Master Ye fell into was a dangerous one. Till now, they still couldn’t find him. Except for the survivors saved on the first day, the others were all dead when they found them on the next day after the storm that night. I think that Young Master Ye might be…”

Before he finished his words, Ye Linhan abruptly stood up and grabbed on to his collar emotionally. “What about Muzi? Is she fine?”

The man who had his collar held on by Ye Linhan was shocked. “Y-Young Master Linhan…”

“Say something. If something happened to Ye Moxuan, then what about Muzi? Was she on the same flight with him? How is she now?”

Goddamn it! Ye Linhan’s face became horrifying. At the moment, he seemed like a man who just jumped out of a chilling pond while his whole body emanated a terrifying aura as if he came from hell.

“Y-Young Master Linhan… Stay calm! I-I can’t breathe with you like this.”

“Say it!”

“Miss Han is fine!” The man choked until his eyes rolled backward. He spat out the crucial words in urgency.

As expected, Ye Linhan’s eyes moved and he loosened his grip on the man’s collar after hearing that Han Muzi was fine. “She is fine?”

“Y-Yes, they didn’t take the same flight.” Ye Linhan breathed a sigh of relief before letting him go. Then, the man took a few steps back and stood firm. “Young Master Linhan, you don’t need to worry. Young Master Ye was the only one who went on that flight. He is probably dead by now,” he said to him while panting.

He is dead? Ye Moxuan’s death was not anything special to Ye Linhan. All he wanted was for Muzi to be safe; the others… were not as important.

“Young Master Linhan, if Ye Moxuan is dead, then the Ye Group now is not the same as the Ye Group before. Those old geezers on the board of directors will definitely come for you after they had just lost their leader.”

Meanwhile, Ye Linhan pressed his thin lips and took out his phone to call Han Muzi. Even though the news he received that she was fine, he realized that the same news could still spread to her ears. He could not predict what extreme actions she took after finding out about Ye Moxuan’s accident. Now, Ye Linhan was very worried about her. After he made the call, he got a message saying that her phone was turned off.

“Why is it turned off?” Ye Linhan frowned. As he thought about trying it one more time, the man in front of him came over. “Young Master Linhan, did you listen to what I’ve just said?”

Ye Linhan frowned while lifting his head to look at the man with displease.

“Err… Young Master Linhan, what I mean is… if Young Master Ye is dead, this is your best chance of getting back to the Ye Family.”

“No need to hurry,” he replied to him with just a few words. To him, Han Muzi’s safety was the priority. Yet, he failed to get through to her phone, so he said, “Send someone right away to find out what happened to Muzi. I need to know where she is and her current condition after Ye Moxuan’s accident.”

“Young Master Linhan?” The man widened his eyes in shock. “I don’t think this is the time to do something like this. If you don’t take the opportunity now to return to the Ye Group, then in the future—”

“Just do what I just told you to do!” Ye Linhan almost grinded his teeth when he snapped at him.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 723

He gave out such a terrifying aura that his servant would not even dare to refuse him, so he nodded. “Yes. Then I’ll… go and check on it immediately. It’s just that… about the Ye Group…”

Ye Linhan’s eyes turned cold all of a sudden. “If he really is dead, isn’t the Ye Group already at my fingertips now? Do we need to worry about being a few days short?” He was right. If Ye Moxuan lost his life, what could he use to compete with Ye Linhan? He stood to lose everything—his company, his wife, and his kid.

“You’re right, Young Master Linhan. If he’s dead, then the Ye Group is already yours. We’re not short of a few days.”

Ye Linhan turned cold. “Then, why aren’t you carrying your task now?”

“Y-Yes. I’ll go and check it right away.”

As soon as he was gone, Ye Linhan stared at the contract that he was about to sign and squinted his narrow eyes. He left it unsigned and lifted the contract to look at it before a smile suddenly crossed his lips. “Ye Moxuan, is it because of divine justice that this happened to you?” Afterward, he tore the contract in half and his eyes filled with mockery. He lost his life on the day of his wedding. This really is good news.

However, Ye Linhan frowned when he thought about Han Muzi. I wonder how she is now. Is she sad about it?

Han Muzi had stayed in the hospital for the past two days to recover from her injuries. After she was drenched in the rain, her body actually did not get better although she had regained consciousness. Instead, she got a fever.

Initially, despite the fever, her mind was still clear, but her temperature varied from high to low. At night, she started to have a high fever and it would not go down. Soon after, Han Muzi slipped into a coma. Before she lost her consciousness, she held Han Qing’s hand tightly while murmuring, “Moxuan. You must… find him. He will be alright. He will be alright… Moxuan…”

She continued to murmur and it centered around Ye Moxuan. Han Qing, who was a big man, even felt the pain of his hand being grabbed on by her.

When the doctor treated Han Muzi, he was surprised to see the finger marks on Han Qing’s hand. “The lady is unconscious, so why does she still have such a huge strength?”

Han Qing glanced at his hand and smiled bitterly. Exactly. For Ye Moxuan, she can even give up her life.

“Doctor, what is my sister’s situation?”

The doctor sighed and set his glasses straight before he softly explained, “To be honest, your sister’s current condition is bad. If she keeps on having a high fever, the situation will be critical. Besides, you know that she is pregnant, so the hospital needs to use its medication for her carefully. That is why… I advise to treat her with physical cooling before her fever goes down. We can handle the rest after the fever.”

Physical cooling? Han Qing pressed his lips together. Even though this was the only option to treat Han Muzi’s condition, it still seemed a bit dangerous for him. After all, her body was now in a weak state. But, what other choices do we have other than this? Han Qing nodded after he thought about it.

Su Jiu, who stood aside said, “This method is something I’m familiar with. When my child had a fever, he was afraid of taking medicine, so this was how I cured his fever. President Han, you’ve been staying by Miss Muzi for a while now. I think it’s time for you to have a rest. I’ll take over from here.”

The doctor nodded in agreement. “That’s right. It’s better to have people who know how to handle this properly.”

“He’s right, President Han. Go take a rest,” Su Jiu advised him.

Han Qing pressed his lips while looking at the unconscious Han Muzi worryingly. Then, he quietly nodded and stood up, but her hand held on tightly to his.

Su Jiu saw the situation and helped immediately. Finally, Han Qing’s hand was freed, and Su Jiu replaced his hand with hers for Han Muzi to grab on to. “Leave the rest to me.” She smiled gently.

Han Qing pressed his thin lips as he gazed at her before nodding his head. “Alright. Thank you.” With that, he turned and left the ward.

The past few days had been heart-wrenching for Han Qing. Back then when he had just acknowledged this sister of his, he flew back and forth between China and abroad so that he was able to continue with his work after. Even so, it was not as difficult before as it was now. At least, at that time, he was in a good mood, so everything became so meaningful to him and made him very lively. However, these few days had brought nothing but agonizing pain. Even though Ye Moxuan was not actually his brother-in-law at the end, he still felt the pain and grief in his heart whenever he thought that the man who ruled the Ye Group of North City might be gone from this world forever.

As Han Qing frowned his eyebrows, someone suddenly came to report to him, “President Han, there is someone outside claiming that she knows Miss Muzi, and she insisted on coming in.”

Someone who knows Muzi? Han Qing thought about it for a second before saying to him, “Bring me over to have a look.”

When Han Qing was brought over by that person, he heard a familiar woman’s voice before arriving. “I really know Muzi. I’ve just returned from X Country. After I landed here today, I spent a long time finding her until I came to this hospital. I’m her good friend. I stayed back to deal with other matters after the accident at her wedding. Stop blocking me and let me in.”

This voice… Han Qing was startled. Isn’t this Yan’s voice? So much had happened in the past few days that he had almost forgotten about her. Han Qing quickened his steps at this thought and showed up in front of everybody.

“President Han, this woman says…”

After she saw Han Qing, Yan’s eyes brightened and she instinctively wanted to call him, but she did not know what to say. ‘President Han’ or ‘Mr. Han’ was not something she wanted to call him, so she shoved the words down her throat and waved to him with excitement.

“Let her in.” Han Qing’s eyes faintly landed on Yan. Naturally, he saw that the lady’s once worried face had suddenly turned bright after seeing him. Then, she followed by waving at him excitingly. This face… in Han Qing’s eyes, really looked like a dog in exuberance at seeing his master before madly wagging its tail to show its loyalty and happiness.

After Yan was given the freedom to pass through, she rushed over to Han Qing. “Han…” She instantly stopped and asked, “How is Muzi? Have you found Young Master Ye?”

Han Qing frowned as he rubbed his forehead and shook his head.

At this moment, Yan’s face fell again. “N-No? Then Muzi…”

“She’s got a fever.” He slowly opened his mouth and spoke in a hoarse voice, “Her situation isn’t too good and we haven’t found him yet. Have you handled everything in X Country?”

Yan nodded. “It’s all handled, but… I was unable to keep the media back. I’ve checked about it when I was coming here and found out that news of the incident had been reported across China. Now, almost everyone in North City knows about it.”

Han Qing’s eyes darkened as he lowered them. No one knew what he was thinking.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 724

He lifted his head after a while and spoke faintly, “Thank you for the trouble you’ve taken in these few days.”

Yan felt overwhelmed by him and shook her head. “It’s no trouble. However… I would like to see Muzi. Can I?” Even though her dream man was important to her, her best friend was even more important. In Yan’s heart, she was more worried about Han Muzi.

“Go in then.”

When Yan was brought to Han Muzi’s ward, she saw that Su Jiu was taking care of her. The latter saw Yan and loosened up her face. “Yan? Are you done with everything in X Country?”

“Yes. Everything is handled. I’ve heard that Muzi got a fever, right?”

Both of them whispered on purpose to prevent Han Muzi from waking up. Su Jiu then nodded. “Yes. It’s a serious one too, but we can’t simply medicate her because she is pregnant, so the doctor advised us to use physical cooling.”

Yan cried out in alarm when she heard the news, “She really is pregnant?”

Su Jiu squinted her eyes and gave Yan a thorough look as if she had just caught something. “Listening to your tone, you already knew that Muzi is pregnant, did you? What about her? Does she know about it?” At this point, Su Jiu could not help but frown. If Han Muzi ran around with the knowledge that she was pregnant, then the consequences… would be devastating.

“It’s only my guess. Muzi and I had a chat about it the last time, but both of us weren’t sure. Muzi even thought of seeing the doctor after the wedding, but who would have thought…” The two of them remained silent and did not speak any further.

A few seconds after that, Yan took the towel from Su Jiu’s hand and said softly, “Let me do it. It used to be me who took care of her when she was sick before, so I know some of her habits.”

As long as it was beneficial to Han Muzi’s health, Su Jiu would not argue about it. Soon after that, she handed the towel over to Yan. Next, it was Yan who took care of Han Muzi.

Han Muzi continuously had a high fever, which caused her mind to be in a disarray and murmur a few words occasionally. It was obvious from her words that she was not herself. Yan only comforted her gently while taking care of her. During this period, Han Qing and the doctor also came in and out a few times.

It was not until the middle of the night that Han Muzi’s fever finally broke as her breathing gradually reverted to its calm state. Yan sat beside her bed and saw the news while she was trying to get up.

The news reported that there was still hope for the survivors rescued on the first day as those who were sent to the hospital were saved. However, after the storm that night, the lives still at sea faded all at once. All they did during the rescue on the next day was pull up the lifeless bodies. In spite of that, Han Qing said that Ye Moxuan was yet to be found, which meant he was not in that group of survivors, but where was his body? The two of them have gone through so many hardships to finally be together. God, why do you need to tear them apart?

Yan’s eyes reddened and swelled up with tears when she thought about how cruel fate was to them.

“Moxuan… come back… Come back,” Han Muzi suddenly spoke in her dreams while Yan was about to burst out in tears. Her voice was so low that Yan placed her ear over her mouth to hear the words. More tears fell from Yan’s eyes when she heard her calling Ye Moxuan’s eyes. “Muzi, don’t worry… Young Master Ye must be reluctant to see you this sad. He will be back.”

On the next day, Han Muzi woke up while everyone had their breakfast. There were still some after-effects due to the high fever she had. So, when she woke up, she realized that her arms and legs lacked its strength while all her muscles were in pain. Even her head weighed a ton that it became laborious for her to sit up.

“Muzi, you’re awake. Let me help you up.” Yan leaned close and lifted her up before she sat still beside her bed. Han Qing and Su Jiu also came soon after hearing that she was awake.

As Han Muzi was supported by Yan, she faintly raised her head and smiled at her. “You’re here?”

Yan was dumbfounded before she nodded. “Yes. I’m here.”

“That’s nice.” Her vague voice did not show her emotions. Instead, it was hoarse like she did not quench her thirst after a walk in the desert. After she reached out to gently pat Yan’s hand, she lifted her head and looked toward Han Qing with her pale face. “Qing, is there any news on Moxuan?”

At the same time, Han Qing, Su Jiu and Yan remained silent. As soon as Han Muzi woke up, the first thing she asked about was Ye Moxuan. For the moment, the three of them did not know how to answer her.

However, Yan was quick to react and smiled. “Muzi, you’ve just woken up, so you must be feeling a bit uncomfortable, especially after being unconscious for so long. You must be hungry, right? Do you want some porridge? I’ve prepared different kinds of porridges for you to choose from. Do you prefer to eat the savory one or the sweet one?” Her joyous tone of speech showed how much she wanted to change the subject.

Su Jiu also said the same thing, “She’s right. Your body is still weak after you’ve just woken up. It’s better for you to eat something first then we’ll talk about the rest later.”

Han Muzi was rendered speechless, then she lifted her eyes to look at the three of them. Their faces were not in good shape, which was evident from the shadows around their eyes. It was obvious that they were in such condition because they were taking care of her. If I keep on probing them about the topic, am I letting them down after what they did for me?

Han Muzi nodded gently and answered them.

Yan’s eyes brightened. “Then do you want the sweet one or the savory one?”

“I’m fine with either.”

“I’ll go serve some for you.” Yan quickly got up and served a bowl of sweet porridge for Han Muzi. After that, she sat in front of her with a smile on her thoughtful face. “Come, this is the sweet porridge you used to love when you were in X Country. I’ve just tasted it. This particular shop makes it in a traditional way.” Yan eagerly scooped a spoon of it and brought it toward Han Muzi’s mouth.

The sweet scent of the porridge permeated the air while heat lingered around it. Han Muzi used to love this dish a lot, but when she opened her mouth to eat it, she did not feel any sweetness. She only tasted bitterness. In spite of that, she slowly swallowed it and ate it each time Yan fed her. Her quiet and obedient behaviour actually frightened those present.

Yan carefully lifted the spoon of porridge, but she felt that something was not right. Han Muzi was too quiet and she did not resist at all when she fed her the porridge. Why do I feel that this isn’t her normal reaction? She just asked about Ye Moxuan, but now she is letting me feed her the porridge?

Just as and when Yan started to feel that something was amiss, her feeding rate became slower and slower, which elicited a reaction from Han Muzi. The latter suddenly felt a little uncomfortable and bent her waist over while clutching her stomach. Her pale face looked down before she puked up all the porridge that she just ate.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 725

“Ah!” Yan was shocked as she screamed before helping her up. “Muzi, are you alright?”

Her sudden reaction caught everyone in surprise. After she had puked, Han Muzi’s face was pallor and she could not straighten her back while cold sweat broke out on her white forehead. It looked like she was in a horrid situation.

Su Jiu who was standing aside saw the situation and searched for the doctor without giving it a second thought.

“I’m sorry, Muzi. Is it because I was feeding too fast? I’m sorry… I didn’t consider that you just woke up. I should have fed you slower.” Yan helped her up as tears rolled down her face.

Han Muzi’s breathing was weak when she leaned on a pillow while she panted heavily. It was clear from her face that she could not catch a breath. Therefore, Yan gently patted her back. “I’m really sorry. Should I get you a glass of water?”

“Let her rest for a while.” Han Qing frowned while watching the scene. Then, he called someone over to clean up the mess in the ward. Soon after, Su Jiu came over with the doctor. At this point, everyone in the ward was busy.

Han Muzi scanned the people in front of her.

Yan’s eyes turned to a frightening red and her teardrops were the size of beans while her face was filled with guilt and distress. On the other side, Han Qing’s face was slightly pale as stubbles were shooting out on his chin, which made him look way different from his previous image. Meanwhile, Su Jiu worriedly commanded from the sidelines. The doctor came to check on her before saying something to her in a heavy tone.

Han Muzi heard a buzzing sound around her ear. She was tired after she threw up and her body was weakened, so she lay back on the bed before saying softly, “I want to rest alone.”

While everyone remained silent, Yan inhaled through her nose and asked, “Are you sure you’re okay being alone?”

Han Qing looked at her seriously and kept silent for a moment. “Let her rest alone.” After he finished, he walked out of the ward swiftly.

Yan shot Su Jiu an unsure look, and the latter returned her glance before they went out of the ward together and closed the door behind them.

As they stood outside, Yan felt a sudden anxiety. “Why are we doing this? She is not in a good condition. If we leave her alone inside…”

“Don’t worry,” Su Jiu explained sincerely. “Miss Muzi is an adult now. She knows when she has to be rational.

“But you saw what happened yourself. Look at the huge impact on her.”

“It’s precisely because of the huge impact that Miss Muzi must change. She can’t accept Young Master Ye’s departure, so she will do everything she can to convince herself. This… is harder than letting her accept Young Master Ye’s accident. Do you understand? But… at the same time it’s easy.”

There was no other way because it was part of life. Were they not all the same too? For example, one comforted oneself after being deceived by saying that it helped to teach a lesson. This was because self-comfort was much easier for one to accept than the cold, hard truth. It was still cruel at the same time, but that was how people lived their lives—by repeatedly comforting and deceiving themselves.

Yan went silent and leaned against the door while her gloomy eyes gazed at Han Muzi through the glass window. She really hoped that she could pull herself together as soon as possible.

Han Muzi slept for a long time. When she woke up, her eyes were hollow and Yan had prepared another hot porridge for her. This time, she only ate half a bowl and every time she took a bite, Yan seriously observed her reaction.

Han Muzi remained silent until she told her, “I’m fine. What happened this morning was just an accident. It will never happen again.” Even if it did, she would never let the people who cared for her see it happen again.

“Really? I’m afraid that your stomach isn’t well yet. You need to tell me if you feel uncomfortable.”

“Okay.” She finished almost a bowl of porridge just like that. Then, Yan tidied up everything and told her that she would give her more to eat after her body had recovered. Suddenly, Han Muzi said to her that she wanted to see Han Qing, and Yan’s eyes widened.

“Your brother…”

“I only wanted to ask him whether he had found Ye Moxuan near that area. Yan, you don’t need to stop me like this.”

Yan heard that her voice was calm, so she felt assured enough to call Han Qing over. As soon as he came in, he cut to the chase. “We haven’t found him yet, but our forces are increasing and they’re still searching. Muzi, Ye Moxuan has not been seen at all. Do you understand what I mean?”

Han Muzi nodded. She seemed to understand them yet she did not at the same time. Moments later, she let out a bitter laugh. “Qing, I know what you’re saying. In fact, it’s better if we don’t find him. It means that… his chances of survival are bigger, right?” She pointed out his meaning, so he nodded. “I know. Not finding him… is better than salvaging his body and bringing it in front of me. If that’s the case, then there is still hope. I know… Ye Moxuan will definitely be fine. So many people had already survived. If there are a few lucky people among the survivors, I believe him to be one of them. Qing, am I right?”

In the end, Han Muzi lifted her head to look at Han Qing for his approval, but he didn’t know what to say, so he nodded accordingly. A while later, he went up to Han Muzi and stroked her head. “Muzi, I’m happy if you think so. You’re pregnant. Do you know that?” he said to her softly.

Han Muzi twitched her lips as she lowered her eyes toward her belly. “More or less. I had a feeling about it before, but I wasn’t sure. I wanted to wait after the wedding, so that Ye Moxuan… can come with me to confirm it. If I really am pregnant, then… I plan to present it to him as our wedding gift.” At this point, a smile as warm as the spring breeze crossed Han Muzi’s lips. “He will be very happy to find out that I’m pregnant. Qing… do you think he will come back sooner if I let out this news?”

Han Qing went quiet for a second before replying to her, “Yes, he will.”

“Alright. Then I’ll keep on waiting for him here. I’ll hand over the news about my pregnancy to you now, Qing.”

“Don’t you worry.” Han Qing tightened his hands into fists as he looked firmly at his little sister. “If he is still around in this world, I will help you find him back. I will bring him back safe and soundly to your side.” Of course, he did not bring up the other possibility. If Ye Moxuan had left this world, what would he do then?

“Qing, I’ll remember your words. You must keep to your promise.” Ye Moxuan, you must also keep to your promise too—like what you’ve promised me before that you’ll give me a surprise. I believe nothing will happen to you, so I’ll wait for your surprise.

During the next few days, Han Muzi remained in the hospital to recuperate while Han Qing stayed beside her every day since the start. However, he needed to attend to a lot of matters back in China, so he could only find the spare time to go back there. After going back to China, Han Qing realized an even more troublesome situation, and that was Little Bean.

Han Muzi knew that on the day of the wedding, the media would be there too, and she did not want Little Bean to be harassed by those shameless reporters in the future, so she refused to allow him to attend the wedding.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 726

That was why Little Bean was left in the country. However, due to the recent news that had been brewing domestically, Han Qing was unsure whether Little Bean was already aware of it and only hoped that he did not know anything. Therefore, when Little Bean ran toward this uncle of his, Han Qing initially planned on lying to him by telling him that his mommy and daddy went on a honeymoon after the wedding, and they would not be back for a while.

As the idea was formed inside his mind, he suddenly felt that it was not right to do so because he himself could not confirm when or whether Ye Moxuan would be able to come back. It’s good if he comes back, but what if he doesn’t? How will I explain this lie of mine to Little Bean? When the kid knows about it in the future, he will definitely be sad. When Han Qing looked at the innocent face of Little Bean in front of him, he hardened his heart. Why don’t I straight up tell him the truth to avoid him getting sad when he knows about it later? And if Ye Moxuan can come back alive, won’t that be a surprise for him?

Han Qing thought about it and squatted in front of Little Bean, caressing his head before speaking to him in a gentle voice, “Little Bean, I have something to tell you.”

Little Bean tilted his tiny head. “Uncle Qing?”

“Follow me to the study and I’ll tell you everything.”

On the other side, Han Muzi sat on her bed while gazing at the sunlight outside the window.

“Muzi, Little Bean is crying for you to have a video call with him. Can you please take notice of him?” Yan sat at the side of the bed and held the phone while asking Han Muzi.

Han Muzi’s finger moved for a second when she heard this, but she turned her away to ignore Yan. She pressed her pale lips hard while her eyes were filled with despair. She had promised Little Bean that she would find him a daddy, but now, she had lost him. It would be difficult for her to talk to Little Bean before his daddy returned. Her fear was that she would burst into tears when she saw him.

Yan advised her, “Muzi, don’t be so cruel. Little Bean is very sad now. He thinks that he just found his daddy, yet you are ignoring him now. Why do you have to let him weep in tears?” As she continued to speak, her eyes turned red. “I beg you, Muzi. Please say something to him. Just a few words will do. When Little Bean came in with the video call today, he was already in tears. This is the first time I see him cry like this. You know that… Little Bean rarely cried before.”

Han Muzi’s heart moved when she heard those words while her pink lips fluttered. How can I bear it in my heart? But… if I see Little Bean now, what should I say to him? Should I tell him about his daddy’s accident and break my heart again?

Han Muzi shook her head. “No. Wait for a few days. I really don’t have the mood for this.”

“Muzi!” Yan refused to give up as she kept on calling her name.

Her constant calling frustrated Han Muzi and she sneered right away, “Get out. I want to be alone for a while.”

Yan did not move but she became quiet, so Han Muzi thought that she had finally listened.

Surprisingly, after a minute, the sound of a crying boy suddenly burst out in the silent ward. “Mommy! Mommy… Ugh…”

The familiar voice shocked Han Muzi as she glanced at the source of the voice in disbelief. As expected, she saw Yan holding her phone with the video turned on. On the screen, Little Bean cried so hard that he could not catch his breath as he kept on calling for Han Muzi. His tears were like a sharp dagger that stabbed at Han Muzi’s heart. She widened her eyes to stare at Little Bean before turning her head away while tears started swimming in her eyes.

“Mommy, can you take a look at me? Mommy… I really want to talk with you. Mommy…”

“Turn off the video,” Han Muzi heard her own calm voice when she ordered Yan.

However, Yan did not listen to her as she still held on the phone to show her the video, as though she was determined to oppose her. “Muzi, wake up. That person in the video is not anybody else. He is your own son, Little Bean. Can’t you feel the pain in your heart after treating him like this? He just wants to talk with you!”

“Take it away. Final warning.” Han Muzi’s voice became even lower and calmer while her eyes started to fill with rage.

Yan felt angry at her, so she simply told Little Bean, “Do you hear that? Your bad Mommy doesn’t want to talk to you for the moment. I can’t help you now even though I want to. Alright. Don’t cry anymore. What’s the use of crying so hard if there isn’t anyone to comfort you? Quietly wipe away your tears and go do your homework. Do you hear me?”

Little Bean’s eyes were red when he shook his head vigorously. “No. I want Mommy.” No matter how smart or how mature Little Bean was, he still felt like he was abandoned by his mother after seeing how Han Muzi ignored him and he felt sad about it.

Therefore, he cried and cried until it frustrated Han Muzi, so she scolded him, “What are you crying for? I’m not even crying, so why are you, huh?” Her voice was stern while her eyes glared at Little Bean as if he had done a mistake.

After he was scolded, Little Bean was shocked before he pouted and cried in a childish voice, “I miss you, Mommy… Mommy, can I come and find you?”

“No.” Han Muzi ruthlessly refused. “If you are well-behaved, then just stay put at home. I will come back to you after I find your daddy.”

Little Bean’s cries intensified. “Mommy, you’re lying to me. Uncle Qing told me that daddy had an accident and he may not come back.”

His words agitated Han Muzi as she widened her eyes and stared at Little Bean on the screen with disbelief. “Who allowed you to say this nonsense? Are you not listening to my words now? Your daddy is only missing. He will be back!”

Little Bean responded to her, “Then let me wait with you, Mommy. Mommy… you never left my side before and you always brought me everywhere with you. Can’t you do the same now?”

The little boy’s voice was filled with mercy. Anyone who saw him this way would not be able to refuse him, but Han Muzi’s heart was broken. She even hated how she looked now, so how could she allow her son to see herself like this? She sneered, “No. I’m fine alone. You don’t need to come, understand?”

Little Bean pouted his lips again. “But I want to be with you. Mommy… please agree for me to come. I will definitely be on my best behaviour and not make you mad. Alright, Mommy? Alright?” He started to act shamelessly while he pleaded with Han Muzi, sentence by sentence. It was heartbreaking for anyone to hear him.

Meanwhile, Yan still held the phone, but her eyes already turned red after listening to him, so she said to Han Muzi, “Please promise him. He isn’t somebody else. He is the child you’d bore inside of you for ten months.”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 727

Of course she was aware that he was the child that she carried inside her for ten months, which was why she did not want him to suffer with her. If it was possible, she would gladly bring Little Bean to her side right away because she was lonely and in need of warmth. But… what will happen after I bring him over? Is he going to see me break down everyday? If that is the case, then it is too selfish for me to do so!

Han Muzi closed her eyes and shook her head. “Yan, off the video. Don’t let him call over again.”

“Muzi!”

“Turn it off!” Han Muzi shouted as she lifted her head to stare at Little Bean on the screen. “Little Bean, you listen to me now. Don’t you ever call me again. Focus on your schoolwork and wait for Mommy to find your daddy. We’ll come back for you then.” She grinded her teeth.

Little Bean was still in tears when he looked at her. “I don’t want to. Mommy, can I not do that? I want to go over to you now. I don’t want Daddy anymore; I only want you.”

Yan was still holding the phone with the child’s crying surrounding her. Then, Han Muzi stoically reached out to turn off the video before shoving Yan’s phone under her pillow. “Muzi? Muzi, you’ve gone too far this time! He is your own son!”

“So? Is this the reason why you let him call me? Yan, you know clearly of my current situation. What do you want me to say to him?” Her eyes were hollow when she looked at Yan and then Yan took a breath. “I don’t want you to say anything to him. It’s just that Little Bean knows about this now, so he is very sad. Aren’t you his mother? Is there any problem for him to miss you or talk to you?”

“There shouldn’t be a problem, but I’m not in a good condition right now, so I don’t want to see anybody.” She did not want to project the negativity on her to Little Bean. Even though it was cruel of her to ignore Little Bean, what else could she say to him? If Little Bean knew about the accident, then as a child, he would want to get to the heart of the matter. So, how was she to explain to him then?

“Are you planning to be like this if Ye Moxuan doesn’t come back? Little Bean is just a kid. He can’t understand you like an adult would. Do you understand?”

Han Muzi did not want to continue the conversation, so she turned her head away in frustration and sneered, “I know. You should leave.”

“Muzi…” Yan still would not give up and called her name while sitting on the side of the bed, not wanting to leave.

“Stop now. I want to be quiet alone.” Seeing that Yan still sat on the side of the bed and not wanting to leave, Han Muzi had no other choice but to cover herself in the blanket and ignore her.

Yan then retrieved her belongings and left the ward. After she headed outside, she ran into Su Jiu, who was standing outside. Su Jiu looked at her in shock. “What happened? I seemed to hear you two arguing just now.”

“Don’t even mention it. It makes me mad.”

“How can you be so angry at such a critical moment? I want to know.” Su Jiu was curious.

“You know that Little Bean is just a five or six year old kid. He misses his mother and he wants to talk to her. This is normal, right? But Muzi actually refused to let him call her. I felt sad just by watching it. Little Bean was crying so hard and she did nothing.”

Su Jiu finally understood her anger before she smiled helplessly and patted Yan’s shoulder, explaining to her gently, “Oh you. You’ve never been a mother, so you wouldn’t understand the feelings and pains of being a mother.”

“I know Muzi is in pain now, but after all, Little Bean is still so young. She could have pretended to say something.”

“Then, have you ever thought that maybe Muzi doesn’t want to lie to him? If Muzi wasn’t able to lie to her son, then what do you think they will talk about when she talks to him? What do you think Little Bean will ask her?”

Yan was dumbfounded after hearing this as she had never considered this before.

“You’ve never considered this before, have you?” Su Jiu smiled with a faint expression. Then, she continued, “You’re still young, so you aren’t able to think both ways for a lot of things. Of course I know that Little Bean wants to see his mommy at this time. It is undeniable, but think about the events that happened to Muzi during this period and how it has impacted her. Even if you want her to pull herself together and resume to her normal self, she still needs time for that. The accident happened not long ago, so how can she be able to tell Little Bean straight in the face that something has happened to his daddy? Some words will undoubtedly feel like putting salt on the wound. Do you get what I mean?”

Yan was choked by her words. As she thought for a while, she could not think of anything to answer her. She twitched her lips and glanced at Su Jiu while looking lost. After a while, she seemed to understand her. “Then what should I do? I’ve already shown the video to her. I thought that Muzi doesn’t care about his son, so I lost my temper and said that she has gone too far.”

“It’s going to be fine. Aren’t the two of you best friends? I believe Muzi knows about this in her heart, but she doesn’t have the mood to comfort you or to explain it to you in detail. When all of the pain is gone, the two of you will feel relief when you guys talk about this again.”

Yan gazed blankly at Su Jiu. This was the first time that she felt the charm of this woman. I’ve heard that she liked Han Qing too back then, but she was never able to get his heart. After that, she married someone else, and now, she has a husband and a child. She is living a happy life.

In front of Han Qing, Su Jiu did not seem to be embarrassed. It was as if she never liked this man before. Such an excellent woman, and Han Qing didn’t even like her a single bit. Then what chance do I have for him to like me?

“What is it? You still look confused about something.”

Yan was hesitant to ask about Su Jiu’s feelings at that time and whether she confessed her feelings to Han Qing. However, she was now married, so it would not be appropriate for her to ask such a question. As such, Yan shook her head. “Nothing.”

Little girls usually were not that good at concealing their own emotions, so everything was written on their faces. Even though Yan said nothing, one could see that there was a problem with her just by the look on her face. Su Jiu was much older than Yan and treated the latter as her own sister. That was why she smiled helplessly while pulling over a chair to sit down.

“Oh you. Just say what you want to say. Don’t keep it inside of you or else it’ll be very damaging. It’s not worth it. I’m much older than you and I’ve been through a lot in my life. If you have any questions, you can just ask me. Although I won’t give you the perfect answer, I can still help you to clear your mind.” She was like a caring older sister with a warm and clear voice, giving Yan a feeling of closeness.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 728

The distance between the two of them shortened in that moment. Yan looked at Siu Jiu with hesitation while the latter smiled like an understanding older sister. “If you have any other questions, just ask.”

“Miss… Su Jiu.”

Yan added a ‘miss’ in front to show her politeness. Su Jiu furrowed her eyebrows in joyfulness. “Yes?”

“You have been with Han Qing for so many years as his secretary. Do you know why… Han Qing is always single?” After that, Yan lowered her head out of embarrassment while poking her fingers together.

Su Jiu only knew that Yan was confused about something, but she did not expect her to ask such a question. After she was stunned for a while, she noticed that the little girl blushed and it was obvious from Yan’s look that she longed for love. “You… like President Han?”

Yan did not expect her to be so direct. She instantly lifted her head and looked at Su Jiu with her blushed face. “Miss Su, I…”

“Alright.” Su Jiu took the initiative to cut her off and spoke faintly, “You don’t need to say it. I understand. Actually, for so many years, President Han had a lot of admirers himself, but in his youth, he devoted everything to his little sister. Maybe it was because he lost his parents at a young age, so he has always been a loner. Even after he found Muzi, his desire for family affection is still greater than anything else.”

Yan remained speechless before replying to her, “Is that so?”

“Yes.” Su Jiu nodded with a smile. “This is how people are. As soon as something becomes a habit, it’ll be hard to change it, never mind Han Qing who has no desire for relationships at all. Therefore, he doesn’t even need to change his habit or his current situation. You like him? Then, you’re running into fire. As a person who has been through this before, I must advise you to forget about it.”

“Forget about it?” Yan was caught by surprise. She did not expect Su Jiu to be straightforward. Is she actually telling me to forget about it? Does she mean I should stop liking Han Qing?

“Yes. People like him… are not interested in relationships. If you like him, you’re just hurting yourself.”

Yan remained silent. It does seem so. Plus, he has already made it clear to me not to like him. However, Yan still would not throw in the towel. She believed that there was still hope if she fought hard enough.

“Seeing your expression, I take that you’ve been rejected by him?”

“Miss Su, h-how did you know?”

“He did the same thing to me before when he rejected me.”

Yan was left speechless.

“Back then, I didn’t dare to express myself to him, so I could only secretly like him. I know it’s hard to change his habits and I followed him everywhere quietly to deal with his matters. I wanted him to get used to me being around, so that one day… when I’m not there beside him, he will feel that something is missing. By that time, I would succeed.”

Yan could not help but widen her eyes before giving her a thumbs up. “Miss Su, you really are clever. Why didn’t I think of this before?”

Su Jiu gave a wry laugh, seeing the little girl looking at her with admiration. Is there something wrong with this girl?

“However, what’s the use of being clever? He didn’t want it and he wouldn’t change his habits. Look at me now. I’m married and I even have a child, yet he is still single while I’m still by his side as his secretary. Now, do you see it?”

“Then Miss Su, why did you stay by his side to be his secretary?”

“Speaking of this, it really is cruel. At first, after he explicitly told me not to have that kind of intention, he even asked me if I would hate him for this and whether I’d be able to continue my work.” At this point, Su Jiu straightened her face. “I never expected him to ask me a question like that, so what else could I do? If I quit the job, wouldn’t that mean I really hated him for rejecting me? So… I could only keep on working.”

“Oh my God. Han Qing really is two-faced. I only thought that… he is a cold person. I never knew…”

Su Jiu stood up before patting her shoulder. “Overall, you need to carefully consider it yourself. I have something else to deal with, so I can’t chat with you anymore.” After Su Jiu left, Yan was left alone on the chair. She rubbed her chin and thought for a long while.

As the days passed, Han Muzi remained alone in the ward throughout the days to recover. She was fine with eating and drinking anything, but she was unwilling to see anyone. Little Bean cried to see his mommy a few times but to no avail. Not only that, when Han Qing came to persuade Han Muzi a few times, she would pull a long face and ask him to leave the ward. And just like that, President Han of the Han Group left the ward with his tail in between his legs and shaking his head helplessly.

Suddenly, his phone rang. He had a glance at the incoming call before answering the phone.

“What is it?” His tone was faint while he rubbed his temple, which caused him pain. Lately, he was in a sorry plight since he had to deal with a lot of things. This was the first time in his life that he had experienced this kind of feeling.

“President Han, we have news about the task that you ordered us to do!”

Han Qing was left confused for a second. The task I ordered them to do? Soon after, he frowned. “What are you saying?”

“We found it!”

Han Qing’s breath almost stopped as he checked the caller ID, worried that he received the wrong call all because they had found the person of interest so soon. After confirming that the call was not a mistake, Han Qing softly coughed and asked, “What did you find?”

“Eh.” The other person was sluggish after being asked like that. “President Han, didn’t you order us to find someone? Did we… make a mistake?”

“No.” Han Qing closed his eyes and used the chance to take a few breaths to calm himself down. After a while, his emotions finally calmed down and everything was clear and peaceful when he opened his eyes. Then, he pressed his lips and spoke in a cold voice, “You found… him?”

“Yes, President Han.”

“Give me the address. I’ll go over now.” As he talked to him, Han Qing’s hands instinctively went into his pocket for his car keys. However, he only came to visit Han Muzi, so a driver had brought him here once his plane landed. He did not even have a car to drive. This startled him for a moment. “Forget it. Just send the location to my phone. I’ll follow the address on the map.”

“Alright, President Han. I’ll send the location to you right away.”

“Okay.” After he ended the call, Han Qing kept his phone away and his slim legs started to walk out of the hospital.

He did not notice that his steps were in a haste. If those people actually found Ye Moxuan, then… my little sister, Muzi, does not need to suffer anymore.

“Han Qing!” He stopped in his tracks and looked back to see Yan running toward him. Then, she stopped right in front of him. “I’ve just heard you say that they found someone, right? Is it… Ye Moxuan? C-Can I follow you?”

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 729

Han Qing frowned as he glanced at Yan. He was surprised to discover that she had heard his conversation with the phone. Should I bring her along? Inside him, he rejected the idea. “Aren’t you staying with Muzi?”

Yan froze while biting her lower lip. “Muzi has Miss Su with her. I want to know… if that person they found is Young Master Ye or not.”

Han Qing pressed his lips for a while before opening his mouth. “The news I got is that they have found someone, but I’m not sure if he is dead or not, so please don’t say anything to anyone.”

“Don’t worry!” Yan hurriedly raised both her hands to show a gesture of confirmation. “I will not simply say a word out. I’m just going over to have a look.”

“Let’s go then,” Han Qing spoke in a cold voice and walked in front of her.

In response, Yan followed quietly behind him. She followed Han Qing into the car, but maybe because of her nervousness, she bumped her head onto the car door. The sound of the collision was huge as Yan saw stars flying around her eyes. Then, she took a few steps back before she sat on the cold floor.

Han Qing saw the scene just as and when he turned his head over. He immediately frowned at her, but there were no movements from his hands as he just sat there.

Yan was suddenly embarrassed of herself, so she quickly got up and clapped away the dust on her palms. At the end, she went back into the car while pretending that nothing had happened.

“I was just thinking of something, which was why…” She trailed off when she realized Han Qing’s face was cold and devoid of any warmth or concern. “Sit down and be quiet.”

Yan remained silent and she did not dare to utter a word, even preventing herself from breathing heavily. She only straightened her body quietly while looking forward. I’m so stupid. Not only is this matter important to Han Qing, it is also important to me. I shouldn’t act so silly. All of a sudden, Yan felt that she was a bit annoying.

As the car moved, the atmosphere inside sank into deep silence. Yan thought about the things that the man on the phone told Han Qing earlier. What happened to Young Master Ye? I really hope to see him soon. If I can see that he is safe, then Muzi wouldn’t be depressed anymore. Please, God! You must ensure that Ye Moxuan is safe. Muzi’s body is already in bad shape and she is also pregnant, so she can’t handle this kind of suffering any longer. Yan put her palms together in her heart and continuously prayed.

After what seemed like an eternity, the car finally stopped. Yan popped her head out of the car to have a look, but Han Qing said to her coldly, “Get down the car.”

Yan was scared by his voice, so she quickly opened the door. This time, she was careful with her movements to ensure that she did not bump her head onto the car door again. When both of her feet safely landed on the ground, she let out a sigh of relief.

A flat-headed man guarded the gate and he kept on looking in their direction. He spotted Han Qing and came over in a flash. “President Han, you’re finally here. I’ve been waiting for so long.”

Han Qing frowned his eyebrows and spoke to him coldly, “Where is he?”

The flat-headed man had a look at Yan behind Han Qing before returning his attention and answering softly, “He is inside, President Han. Follow me.”

Han Qing kept up to him while Yan followed suit like a bug trailing something. “When we found him, he was covered in wounds. Even his face was filled with them.”

Han Qing stopped in his steps. The reason why he did not tell Han Muzi the news immediately was because he was worried that they might have found the wrong person or a body, causing Muzi to be sad for nothing. That was why he felt it was better for him, as her brother, to come forward and assess the situation before thinking of a plan. While they drove over to the site, Han Qing kept quiet for the whole duration because he was thinking about something. If what they found was a body, then he would make the quick decision by disposing the body without her knowledge and pretending that this never happened. For his little sister, he did not mind being the bad guy.

However, when he heard the words of the man leading them, he felt relieved. The man did not stutter when reporting to him, which meant that the person was at least alive. As for the wounds on his face…

“Is the injury serious?”

“It’s exactly that. The injury is too serious. I assumed that he landed on a barren hill not far from here, and when he fell, he was presumably scratched by twigs or even slashed by pointy rocks because there is a deep cut on his face and a lot of wounds on him. His injuries looked too serious and we were afraid to let him die, so we sent him to the nearest clinic here.”

“You all did well.” Han Qing nodded and gave him a seal of approval.

After he was praised by Han Qing, the flat-headed man suddenly became pleased with himself. “Thank you for your praise, President Han. I was the one who came up with the idea because I saw that he was losing a lot of blood. Coincidentally, I knew of this clinic near the site, so I made the quick decision by sending him over here.”

“Alright,” Han Qing replied.

Meanwhile, at the back, Yan felt terrible after hearing his words. According to this flat-headed man, does he mean that there is a serious injury on Young Master Ye’s face? Will that leave a scar in the future?

This caused Yan to forget about Han Qing’s warning—which was keeping her mouth closed—and asked straight away, “Is the wound on his face serious? What did the doctor say? Will it leave any scars?”

Her words hit the nail on the point. At first, the flat-headed man was pleased with himself, but after hearing her words, his face drooped. “The doctor has checked on him and said that his wound is too serious, so it will definitely leave scars.”

“What?” Yan cried out in shock. “How could this happen? If there are scars on his face, doesn’t that mean…” Muzi will definitely feel distressed after knowing about this.

Her cries drew the attention of the flat-headed man as he answered her with discontent, “There was nothing else we could have done. It’s fortunate enough for him to still be alive after such a serious injury. It’s not realistic to hope that there won’t be scars.”

“But the scars should not have been on the face.” Yan felt distressed for Han Muzi. If the scars are on his body, then he can use a shirt to cover it. But how can he cover the scars on his face? She felt saddened for the two of them the more she thought about his scars. In a daze, she lowered her head, not noticing that someone had stopped in front of her. Therefore, she bumped her head into the person without warning.

Thud! Yan felt the pain on her forehead as she backed off a few steps. When she lifted her head, she could see Han Qing staring at her coldly. He pressed his lips with an unhappy expression. “What are you doing?”

Yan shook her head while holding her painful forehead as a result of the collision. “I’m sorry.”

Then, Han Qing turned away.

“President Han, the wounded person is right in there. The hospital urged us not to let too many people in, so I won’t follow you two inside. I’ll just stay here and wait.”

“Alright.” Han Qing nodded before lifting his head and opening the door to enter.

Nothing To Give But My Heart Chapter 730

Yan naturally followed him closely into the ward. It was quiet inside the ward. On the bed, there was a man who was all bandaged up, even to the face. His whole body was covered up by bandages except for a pair of eyes. By the looks of it, it really was hard to recognize who he was.

Han Qing stared at him for a while from beside the bed, then he turned his head resignedly to look at Yan who was behind him. “Call him in,” he said in a cold voice.

“What is it?” Yan felt that something was wrong. “Didn’t the doctor say not to have too many people in here to disturb?”

Han Qing pressed his lips while feeling dissatisfied. “I came here to recognize his identity. How am I supposed to do that with him wrapped up like this?” he asked coldly while pointing at the white dumpling lying on the bed.

Yan blinked her eyes. “Didn’t they mention that his whole body is injured? Then it’s normal for him to be wrapped like a dumpling.”

Han Qing remained silent as he stared at her. “Are you refuting me now?”

Yan was rendered speechless. “No. How would I dare to do that? I’ll call him over right now.” After that, she went out to call the man.

After he heard her explanation, the flat-headed man tweaked his ears and scratched his cheek while showing an agonizing look. Later on, he told her, “Why don’t I ask the doctor to come over and remove all the bandages from him?”

Yan could not help but widen her eyes. “Are you crazy? The doctor just went through a lot of trouble to wrap him up like this, and now, you’re asking him to remove it all? He’ll go mad about it. How can the doctor agree to such an unreasonable request?”

Han Qing went quiet because he initially felt that the flat-headed man’s idea was not bad. Am I crazy too? Is it because we are both men, so we are not as considerate as her? Is that why we don’t think it’s a big deal to remove the bandages?

“If we don’t take off the bandages, we won’t be able to recognize him. But…” The flat-headed man was hesitant.

“But what?” Han Qing glanced at him.

The flat-headed man hesitated for a while before telling him, “Even if we take off the bandages, the wounds have already turned his face and body into a bloody lump of meat, so we still won’t be able to recognize him. Our hearts may not even bear the look of it.”

Yan remained silent while Han Qing’s eyebrows frowned even more. Looks like his injury is quite serious. If that is the case, then we really shouldn’t simply remove the bandages or else it may worsen the wounds. What if he loses his life because of that? How can I explain it to my sister later?

Han Qing opened his mouth again. “Did the doctor say when the bandages can be removed?”

“I presume he needs to recover for a few days.”

“Alright. I get it. You can go out now.”

The flat-headed man nodded and turned away to leave.

Han Qing waited for the man to leave before he diverted his sight toward Yan’s face. “The situation isn’t confirmed yet, so please don’t talk nonsense in front of Muzi when we go back later.”

Yan nodded hurriedly. “Don’t worry. Even if you don’t warn me, I understand what to say and what not to say. Seeing Young Master Ye injured like this, it’s better to not let Muzi know that we have found him.”

“Since you can understand, I don’t need to trouble myself to remind you.”

Yan got a little upset about it and pouted. “I’m not some idiot. How would I not understand these things?”

“What did you just say?” Her voice was small, so Han Qing did not hear it clearly.

Yan shook her head. “Nothing.” After that, she lowered her head in sadness. It seemed that she became even more alarmed in front of Han Qing after being rejected by him, but his attitude toward her became even colder. This is so sad. I feel that my hard work lately is all for nothing. The distance between the two of us doesn’t seem to be getting any closer; instead, it’s becoming further and further.

While thinking about it, Yan lifted her head to look at the man on the bed. Is his injury really that bad? She gave the man a thorough look and felt that the man’s face was familiar to her, even though he was wrapped in bandages.

Yan was taken aback as she stared at the man with disbelief. Why does he feel completely different from Young Master Ye? Usually, she would be as scared as a rat whenever she met Ye Moxuan. It was not because of her cowardness, but due to the strong and cold presence of Ye Moxuan. However, the man lying on the bed did not give her the same feeling. Is it because of the bandages? Did the bandages wrap up his presence?

Just as Yan thought about it, a cold voice was heard. “Time to go.”

“Ah?” She looked back and saw that Han Qing was already at the door. She was dumbfounded for a moment. “Are we going now?”

“What else? Do you still want to stay?”

Then, Yan shook her head instinctively. What was the point of her staying? The man was already injured and wrapped up this way, so there was not much she could do if she stayed. As she walked to the door, Yan could not help but turn her head to have another look at the man on the bed, then she rubbed her chin. This is so weird. Why do I feel a sense of familiarity with the man, but it is completely different from Young Master Ye… He looks so familiar.

“What are you in a daze for? It’s time to go.” Han Qing’s urging voice was heard not far away. Afterward, Yan came back around and caught up to Han Qing before following suit, like his tiny tail.

As the two of them walked for a while, Yan could not hold it back anymore and opened her mouth. “I have a question to ask you.”

Han Qing, who walked in front, replied to her straight away, “What question?” Yan still felt weird as she recalled about the man, so she relayed her thoughts to Han Qing. He could not help but frown his eyebrows. “Eh?”

“I don’t have any other intentions. I’m just expressing my feelings about it. After all, the man is covered in bandages, and we aren’t able to recognize him, so—” Suddenly, Han Qing stopped his steps. Yan was deep in thought about the situation, so she did not notice that he had stopped and bumped herself into his back. She rubbed her nose as she felt the pain of the impact on her nose and forehead, then she looked helplessly at the man in front of him. Can’t you just walk properly? Why do you have to stop all of a sudden, causing me to run into you?

Han Qing turned over and landed his darkened eyes on her face. “Must you follow me from behind?”

“Ah?” Yan was confused.

“Go in front.” There was no anger in his voice, but it was still stern. Soon after, Yan quietly listened to him and walked in front of him. Both of them continued walking, but it was Yan who was in front. Then, Han Qing quickly caught up to her and walked by her side. “What do you mean by what you just said?”

Yan was speechless. She thought that he didn’t care about it. “I didn’t mean anything else. I just feel weird about it, that’s all.”

“Are you trying to say that the man isn’t Ye Moxuan?”

Yan widened her eyes and stopped before shaking her head. “I-I didn’t say that.” She did not dare to talk nonsense as it was just her suspicion.
