Ch. 421..425: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 421-425
Chapter 421 Nevertheless, Anne understood that Nigel was just protecting his daughter, and there was nothing wrong with that. Yet, what about Sarah? Did she deserve this? Then again, Dorothy and Bianca were his rightful family... Anne noticed the movement of Anthony‘s location on her phone. Then, she immediately got up in a panic, ran out of the coffee shop, and ran toward the Archduke Group.
As soon as she arrived at the door, she saw Anthony about to get into his car in the distance.
Anne shouted his name and ran forward. However, she was stopped by Anthony‘s bodyguards before she could even get close, keeping the distance between them.
Anthony‘s aura was imposing, and he looked at Anne with his sharp, obsidian eyes indifferently.
Anne calmed herself down and steadied her breathing. “Can I talk to you for a few minutes? My mom...can‘t you let her go?”
“No,” Anthony answered straightforwardly.
Anne was stunned. “Why? It‘s a misunderstanding. You can check with the restaurant. It really is a misunderstanding! Anthony, I know you‘re protecting Bianca and venting her anger, but my mom is also a victim! Did you read the text I sent you? I‘m willing to do anything! Please, let my mother go.” Anthony stared blankly into her tearful eyes and said, “That‘s all you can do.” After that, he got into the car without looking back.
Anne stood there, trembling and feeling hopeless.
The car drove past her and left, never to be seen again.
It took a while for Anne to recover from the embarrassing situation.
Anthony was right. That was all she could do. Even if she knocked on his door and offered herself, Anthony would not even care at all.
Anthony would not give her another chance to beg for mercy. What should she do? What about Sarah... Sarah was really sent ‘far away‘ by Anthony‘s bodyguards, and they only left when they arrived at the location.
Sarah still refused to believe her luck and wanted to buy a ticket to go back to Luton. After all, she had her identification card and had not forgotten to bring some money, so it should be easy to buy the ticket home.
“I’m sorry, but the tickets are sold out.” “Isn‘t it too early for the tickets to be sold out? The person before me is going to Luton, so how‘s it possible that there’s no ticket for me?” Sarah was unhappy.
“Next.” The ticket seller ignored Sarah. Sarah was angry and had no choice but to step aside. However, she found that the next person had successfully purchased tickets to Luton. Sarah would definitely be an idiot if she could not see what was wrong. Then, she immediately took out her phone and called Anne, who answered quickly. “Mom? How are you? Where are you now?” “In Santa Nila.” Sarah was furious. “Anne, can you buy me a ticket online? I want to go back, but the ticket seller doesn‘t want to sell me any. I don‘t know why she‘s acting all high and mighty. I can just get the ticket online anyway!”
“Let me try.” Anne did not end the call and directly checked for Sarah. She remembered Sarah’s identification card number, but she found that it was invalid upon entering.
Anne was originally hopeful, but reality told her that the powerful Anthony had already manipulated Sarah‘s identification card. Hence, Sarah could not get a ticket, just like Anne. Now Sarah could not return to Luton, and Anne could not leave Luton. This was Anthony‘s goal.
Chapter 422 “Anne, what‘s wrong? Did you get the ticket?” Sarah urged.
“Mom, I can‘t buy your ticket...your identification card is invalid,” Anne said helplessly.
“Huh...is Anthony only going to be satisfied if we‘re dead? Is he out of his mind?” Sarah was exasperated. “Mom, just find a place to settle down first. I’m afraid you won‘t be able to come here for the time being.”
Anne had looked for Anthony and met him, but she could not do anything. Perhaps it would be more effective if she waited for a few more days and begged Anthony again when he calmed down...
“I can‘t go to Luton anymore? I can‘t go there, and you can‘t leave! Are we only going to contact each other by phone? I don‘t want that!”
“Even if you don‘t want to, you have no choice. Anthony‘s unwilling to let it go.”
“Did you look for him?”
“Yes.”
Sarah was annoyed. Nothing was working her way, and she almost lost her temper. However, she knew being angry would not solve the problems, so she could only compromise. After all, she was not going to sleep by the roadside tonight!
“Anne, don‘t look for Anthony anymore. Who the hell does he think he is?! I‘ll stay here, okay? Do you hear me?” Sarah was irked.
“Just pretend that you‘re on holiday. I‘ll find a way.” “No matter what, don‘t look for Anthony. Otherwise, I‘ll really be mad.” “...Okay.”
After hanging up, Anne walked out of the subway station. If she did not look for Anthony, would she still be able to meet Sarah in her life? Anne knew Anthony well and understood that he was merciless and excessive, so this was definitely not a temporary punishment.
It was no use for Anne to beg for mercy now.
Besides Anthony, who else could help her...
Anne‘s phone suddenly rang, and it was Tommy.
Anne thought she might ask Tommy for help, but she immediately got rid of the idea when she remembered Tommy and Anthony‘s strained relationship.
Anne picked up the call, and before she could say anything, Tommy‘s impatient voice sounded, “What took you so long? What are you busy with?” “I‘m not busy.” “Then why didn‘t you go to the office?” Tommy asked. “You‘re not from the Human Resource department, so why are you asking so much?”
It was the first time Anne skipped work, but Tommy found out about it, and she could not help but wonder if he was stalking her every day.
“I‘m in charge of the Human Resource department,” Tommy said.
Anne ignored him, not wanting to argue about this. “I’m feeling unwell, and I want to rest. I‘ll be at the office tomorrow.” “Did you sleep with Anthony again?” “That‘s it. Bye,” Anne said. Then, without waiting for Tommy to answer, she directly hung up the call.
Back in her neighborhood, a car drove over quickly and suddenly braked as she walked to the corridor. Anne was so scared that she jumped to the side.
When she saw the car, she immediately knew who it was. Then, Anne looked at Tommy in annoyance and said, “You almost hit me.”
“My driving skills are excellent, so you won‘t get hurt. You‘re just too timid.” Tommy slammed the car door and went straight to Anne.
While Anne was unprepared, Tommy pulled down the clothes on her shoulders, revealing her delicate and beautiful collarbone and her soft, porcelain skin
“Ah! What are you doing? Are you out of your mind?!” Anne returned to her senses and pulled up her shirt, looking around nervously.
“Don‘t worry. No one saw anything,” Tommy seemed to be in a good mood.
Anne gritted her teeth in anger. No wonder Tommy looked sideways as he approached her. He wanted to do that!
“It does appear that Anthony didn‘t touch you,” Tommy concluded, satisfied.
Anne felt helpless.
It was none of his business! Why the hell was he so obsessed?!
Anne did not want to talk to him, so she turned and went up the stairs, trotting upstairs.
Tommy did not follow, only watching Anne disappear from his sight. If that was the case, what did she do today? Moreover, she did not seem sick too.
Chapter 423 Anne got home, took a shower, and changed her clothes. Then, she went to the balcony and found that Tommy had left. Later, Anne went to the children’s school, which she rarely would. To be exact, she hardly ever did, which was terrible. No matter how busy the parents were, they would still go to their children‘s school. If she did not show up from time to time, it would be unfair to the three little ones. After all, they never had a father... Anne entered the school gate and headed to nursery school. From a distance, she saw a lot of little kids playing on the playground, interacting with their seniors who were taking physical education classes. From afar, it was like Anne had entered a paradise of cuteness. “Charlie, Chris, Chloe...” Anne walked over.
The three little kids playing around with their other friends were stunned when they saw their Mama, and they ran over happily, shouting, “Mama!”
“Mama!”
“Mama, you‘re here!”
They threw themselves one after another into Anne‘s embrace.
Anne groaned and fell to the ground. However, she was still all smiles and even hugging them tightly. “Mama, why are you here?” “Are you here to see us?”
“Mama, it‘s been so long since you visited us.”
Anne was sad when she heard that. “I‘m sorry. It‘s my day off today, and I immediately rush over. Come on, give me some kisses.” Then, she kissed each of them on their faces.
The three little ones giggled happily.
Anne chuckled, and when she turned to look, glancing around subconsciously, just to find Joanne standing there and staring at them in shock. In a flash, the smile on Anne‘s face disappeared, and she
froze.
Anne was still hugging her triplets, who were still calling her Mama over and over again. It felt as if her secret was suddenly exposed in the air, and she could not quibble. Anne‘s face was ashen. She pushed away her children and got up. Then, she bowed and greeted Joanne.
Joanne stepped forward, glanced at the three children, and asked calmly, “Are these your children? All three of them?”
“Can we talk privately?” Anne asked. “Sure. I‘d like to see what you want to talk about.” After leaving the playground, they went toward the secluded side, where they could still see the little children running around from afar.
They were so innocent and carefree, completely oblivious of the struggle in the adult world.
“You said you want to talk to me privately, so why are you looking embarrassed and saying nothing?” Joanne asked. Her attitude was much more distant and colder than before, completely different from the treatment Anne received in the restaurant the first time they met.
“I‘m sorry for hiding from you that I have three children. You saw it...”
It was useless for Anne to hide the fact as Joanne had seen them, and she could easily find out everything if she checked the nursery school‘s children‘s information.
Even though Joanne saw it, she still trembled in disbelief when she heard Anne admitting it.” So... Lucas is unaware of this?”
“He knows...” Anne said.
“What?” Joanne could not believe that the woman her son wanted not only had an affair with Anthony but even mothered three children. “I‘m really sorry...” “Why do you have three children? Are you divorced?”
Chapter 424 “...Premarital pregnancies.” Anne lowered her gaze. She knew that in the eyes of the elders, her behavior was morally corrupt, and she was not a good influence. Joanne was really shocked. She could not help but wonder if Lucas was out of his mind for liking a girl like Anne.
No family would accept her!
Her initial good impression of Anne hit rock bottom.
“You surely are something else! And your aunt...no...your mom, Sarah! I must be blind to know you both!” Joanne had misjudged their characters, and she warned, “Don‘t get close to my son anymore. Do you understand?”
“Don‘t worry. I was never Mr. Newman‘s girlfriend. In fact, he used me as a shield because he didn‘t want to go on blind dates anymore,” Anne explained, “I still believe that mutual feelings are important in a relationship to ensure a long–lasting marriage.” Joanne did not know what Anne was implying, and she thought Anne had no right to speak to her that way. The point was Lucas had personally told her that he had a crush on Anne, and they ate together more than once. Hence, saying Lucas was using her as a shield seemed too far –fetched!
However, Joanne was relieved that Anne was self–aware.
“Also, can you not tell others about my children? Especially my mom...she doesn‘t know anything.”
“She doesn‘t know about it?” Joanne was surprised.
“Yes. I didn‘t tell anyone about this. Initially, I planned to leave Luton with the children, but something came up, and I couldn‘t leave...” Anne said.
Joanne was not interested in finding out what had happened to her, and she just hoped Anne would never bother Lucas again. Then, she left without promising Anne that she would not mention anything
about her children.
Anne watched as Joanne left, and her heart was in her mouth. What should she do?
Would Joanne tell others?
If more people knew about this, Anne would only become more panicked.
After finishing his tasks, Lucas returned to the office and saw Joanne sitting on the sofa, flipping through some documents.
“Mom, what brings you here?”
Joanne put the documents on the coffee table in front of her and asked, “Who are these three children?”
Lucas stood by the coffee table, looking at three pieces of paper with Charlie, Chris, and Chloe‘s passport photos.
In a flash, Lucas froze. He appeared indifferent on the surface, but he was actually racking his brain to find a way to deal with this. Joanne stood up abruptly. “You didn‘t mention anything about Anne having three children! Are you only going to tell me when you‘re married? If I didn‘t happen to meet them at school today, how long were you planning to hide it from me?”
“It‘s not like we‘ll ever get married.”
“If it weren‘t for her accident, she would already be the Newman family‘s daughter–in–law!” Joanne got angrier the more she thought about it. The Newman family was virtuous, and they would never let a morally–corrupt woman like Anne be a part of them!
“There are no ifs.” Lucas pushed his glasses up and sat down on the sofa. “Just pretend that you don‘t know about the children and don‘t expose it.”
“Why are you helping her?” Joanne asked.
“It‘s not that hard to lend a helping hand,” Lucas said.
“Since I already know about this, is there a need for her to hide it anymore? This kind of behavior is rather shameful, isn‘t it?” Joanne believed Anne had ulterior motives.
Lucas was silent for a while before saying, “The school is just doing things according to the contract.”
“Contract?”
“When Anne registered her children to our school, she signed an agreement.” Joanne did not say more. In Pinnacle Academy, the identities of some parents would be kept secret for various confidential reasons, and it was normal to sign an agreement.
Joanne breathed a sigh of relief. It was fine as long as Lucas was not helping Anne to hide her secret because he had feelings for her.
“Since there‘s an agreement, I‘ll pretend I don‘t know about it!” Joanne switched her focus on Lucas and added, “I told you about Ms. Kennedy two days ago. What do you think? When are you going to meet for dinner?”
Lucas rubbed his slightly tired temples and answered, “Mrs. Newman, I don‘t care about that right now, so forget it.”
Chapter 425 “You‘re already 30 years old. Could it be that you still have hopes for Anne?” Joanne asked suspiciously. Lucas adjusted his posture and said, “This is the last time.”
“What?”
“The blind date. This is the last time. If it doesn‘t work out, you need to stop arranging blind dates for me.”
“What if you deliberately say you don‘t like the girl? Of all the blind dates I‘ve arranged for you, all of them said they liked you. The problem lies with you.”
“It‘s not that you don‘t know the reason,” Lucas replied, “I‘m not doing it on purpose.”
Joanne was at a loss for words and did not seem to be in a good mood. “Since you can like Anne, I‘m sure you can like other women too!” Joanne would never accept a male ‘daughter–in–law‘. However, the thought of Anne not only unable to bear children, but also being the mother of three children made her even more panicked. “I‘ve tried for so many years, but Anne is the only one. I know you don‘t like her, and you‘re trying your best to forget her!” Lucas said. Joanne was upset. “I‘ll arrange a time. I‘m sure you‘ll like Ms. Kennedy.” Joanne left the building in a depressed mood. Her perfect son actually liked...liked men!
She could not accept this.
Moreover, the woman that managed to change his mind was Anne!
This was simply annoying!
As she was walking to the parking lot, Joanne bumped into the triplets, who looked at her adorably with their big, curious eyes. Then, they greeted her.
“Grandma!”
“Grandma!”
“Grandma!”
The kids were extremely adorable with their chubby bodies and soft voice, and even Joanne could not bring herself to hate them.
In fact, she could not even move away from them. Chloe walked forward and looked at Joanne. “Grandma, you know Mama. So you‘re a good person.”
Joanne educated her, “Just because someone knows your mom, it doesn‘t make them a good person, and they may be deliberately approaching your mom with bad intentions.”
Charlie stepped forward, grabbing Joanne‘s skirt and tugging it.
Joanne was uncomfortable but still squatted and asked, “What‘s the matter?”
Charlie asked, “Are you new here?” “What?” Joanne was confused.
Chris reached for Joanne‘s hair and said, “Grandma, your hair is so nice and soft.”
As children‘s praises were the purest without any hidden motives, Joanne‘s impression of the triplets was even more favorable. Still, when she looked at Charlie and Chris‘s faces up close, she thought they seemed familiar.
Joanne believed she had seen them somewhere...
Needless to say, the little girl looked exactly like Anne.
So, the boys looked like their father?
Anne surely was impressive. It could be seen that the man‘s genes were excellent.
However, Anne could not give birth anymore, and Joanne could not help but wonder if it was pitiful or if it really did not matter...
“Grandma, do you want to play with us?” Chloe invited.
Joanne returned to her senses and got up. “No. Just play by yourself!” After speaking, Joanne left in a hurry, as if she was afraid of something.
She was scared that the children would win her over if she stayed any longer.
No way. No matter how adorable they were, they were not her own grandchildren. Even so, Joanne could not help but imagine if... if they were really her grandchildren, she would do anything for them.
When Anne saw the triplets talking to Joanne, she was so shocked that she dared not approach them.
Or rather, she wanted to see Joanne‘s reaction. If she liked the three little ones, she would not expose them to others, right?
Anne‘s phone rang, and it was Lucas.
She immediately answered the call, “Mr. Newman...”
“Are you still at school?”
“Yes...I‘m going to take the kids back later.”
“Let‘s have a chat at the school cafeteria.”
“Sure.”
When Anne arrived, Lucas had already ordered coffee and a cheesecake for her.
“You didn‘t have to order these,” Anne sat and said.
“Let‘s eat while we chat.” Lucas was focused on Anne.
Anne glanced around anxiously. She and Lucas had not seen each other for a long time, and they did not talk on the phone as much anymore. Moreover, Anne also refused the children‘s wish to sleep at Lucas‘s house, saying they should not bother him. Thankfully, they were understanding.
“Did your mom look for you? She saw the triplets.” Anne guessed. “Are you going to say nothing if I don‘t call you?” “I don‘t think your mom will tell anyone about the children.” “Don‘t worry. I have already explained it to her.”
Anne asked, “Did she request something from you?”
“Yes, you know her as well as I do.” Lucas chuckled helplessly, “She arranged for me to go on a blind date.”
“Ah...”
“I told her this would be the last time. So, I‘ll just get it over with.” “You‘ve met so many excellent girls, but you weren‘t attracted to any of them?” Anne asked.
