The man tightened his grip on Rose’s neck as if the man in the black hat was punishing her for injuring his arm. Rose felt her throat burning hot. The pressure from the man’s arm was unbearable. She felt oxygen was not getting into her body, making her chest tight.

This time his voice sounded even colder. Rose glanced at the man, she could see the man looked tall, and his athletic body was clearly visible from his tight black shirt wrapping around his muscular body. His eyes darted through her eyes like he was trying to communicate with her.

Rose glanced at the other side of her bed and saw a glass wall beside her. She was surprised to see that the sky was already dark. "How long have I been here?" Rose tried to get out of bed, but her hand was restrained by the IV tube in her right hand.

In a hurry, Rose looked for the button to call the nurse. She wanted to know why she ended up here? She had absolutely no memories of what happened after she fell.

After Rose pressed the button. She can hear several pairs of steps running approaching her room. Soon the door at the end of the bed opened.

Rose was frozen when she saw Sam and Oliver rush to her bed. She could clearly see how worried they were from the look on their faces.

"Oh my gosh... Rose!! You finally wake up. You almost made me a heart attack patient in this hospital!" Oliver’s sinister eyes darted to Rose.

"L-Lady Boss... looks like I have to say my farewell speech to you now. Because in a few minutes, I will be leaving this country...." Sam said nervously and quietly. His gloomy expression is proof that he is now in big trouble.

Rose avoided Oliver’s cold, cynical gaze. She also ignored Sam’s pathetic words, asking them instead. Because the last thing Rose remembers is hearing a loud gunshot and falling down on the road’s surface. After that, she didn’t remember anything else. Did the men in black succeed in catching the man in the black hat? Who brought her to this hospital? And where are the men who saved her?

"Sam, Oliv, why... why am I here?" Rose’s voice was hoarse and weak.

Just before Sam wanted to reply to Rose, three nurses and a senior female doctor entered the room. The doctor immediately checked her condition skillfully.

"Is there anything uncomfortable, Miss Wilson?"The senior doctor asked her.

Rose nods, "M-My throat feels so painful when I swallow..."

The doctor asked Rose to open her mouth wide and stick out her tongue. A few seconds later, she flashed her throat.

Seeing the doctor showing no expression while examining her and whispering to one of the nurses behind made Rose worried.

The senior doctor smiled to reassure Rose, who looked panicked. "Miss Wilson, don’t worry. Your condition is good. You just need some water to keep your throat moist..." Soon a nurse who had left the room came back with water.

Rose tried to sit with the help of one of the nurses. After she sat comfortably, she received the glass from the nurse. Only this time, Rose felt so happy to see water. She felt her dry throat getting comfortable as the water slowly ran down her throat.

After the doctor examined Rose’s condition, she permitted Rose to return. She didn’t have to stay in the hospital because she was healthy.

Rose felt relieved when the nurse removed the IV needle from her hand. Then, she looks at Sam, standing still at the end of the bed. His face seemed so gloomy. While Oliver stood leaning against the wall with his eyes staring at her.

Rose glanced at Sam again with worry lingering in her heart.

"Sam..." Rose’s voice still sounded weak. "Does Evan know about this incident?" She was worried that Evan would find out about this incident. Worried, Evan would abandon everything and follow her here.

After a few minutes of silence...

Staring into Sam’s eyes, Rose could tell that Sam had reported this incident to Evan. Her heart sank. She was in trouble now!

"S-Sam... let’s go back to the hotel. Don’t let Evan see me in this condition." Rose immediately got out of bed. And walk fast to the door.

"Rose! You want to go home using that?" Oliver, standing by the door, couldn’t help but chuckle at his friend’s panicked state.

Rose stops her step. She turns around to look at Sam again. He is still standing near the bed as if cosplaying as a mannequin in a clothing store.

Gosh! When she was chased by time like now, Sam wasted her time?

Rose walks to Sam and slaps her shoulder hard. "Sam, where are my clothes? Hurry, I have to change clothes immediately. We must go back to the hotel now!"

Sam was instantly stunned. He looked at Rose with his surprised-looking face.

Rose tried to get out of his arms while trying to see Sam and Oliver. But the two men are no longer in the room. There were only them, and she felt relieved.

As if Evan knew he was holding Rose so tightly, he loosened his hug.

"Rose, you..." Evan was utterly tongue-tied.

"Evan, why are you here? How about your work?" Rose was worried that Evan would come here and abandon his work.

"My work is not important. What matters is you!" Evan whispers in her ear. It makes Rose feel touched as this man flatters her again with his sweet words and actions.

"I’m fine, Evan... you don’t have to come here rushing like this." Rose was now cursing Sam in her mind. How could that fool Sam, called Evan? It seems too much, considering Rose is feeling okay now.

Evan released his embrace and brought Rose to sit on the bed.

"Rose, you look unhappy to see me? Why?"

Rose was speechless.

Who said she wasn’t happy to see him? She is happy. But the last thing Rose wanted was for this man to sacrifice his duties and responsibilities in the office just for her. Rose hated to be a burden to anyone, especially to Evan.

"Of course, I’m happy, Evan. It’s just... I’m worried about your work?"

"Didn’t I already say that before? You are more important to me than my business." Evan smoothed her wavy dark blonde hair that looked untidy, covering part of her face and neck. He tugged her hair behind her ear while gently caressing her cheek.

Evan can see there’s a scar on Rose’s cheek. It makes his heart ache. And when his eyes see her neck, he frowns. He could clearly see the bruises around her neck as if something hard had stuck to her neck. Evan was suspicious. This girl wasn’t just faint from stomach cramps. But, it’s more than that. Someone hit her!

His deep blue eyes stared deeply into Rose’s eyes like he wanted to find a clue from there. After a few seconds, they stare at each other. Evan knows this girl must be hiding something from Sam. So Sam didn’t say anything to him about her bruises.

Evan tried to hold his restless heart as he took her hand and stroked the back of her hand gently.

"Rose, tell me what happened? Why do you suddenly faint in the street? Please don’t hide anything from me..."

Hearing Evan’s question made Rose confused. Why did he ask again? Can’t they see the CCTV? She believes there is CCTV all around that street. If there was no CCTV, Rose was sure that the person who helped her would certainly meet staff from the hotel or hospital, right?
