Chapter 321: Tell Him

Hearing her husband know Oliver’s identity took Rose by surprise.

How could he know? Did he ask someone to investigate Oliver?

Rose suddenly feels uneasy when she remembers the CCTV footage of the bombing in Nova city. That file is on her laptop.

Does Evan know about her investigation?

Before Rose could ask, she heard Evan continue his words. Suddenly she felt her knees go weak. Gosh! He knows!

"So, my dear wife, if... you want to tell me about what happened in Nova City, I’d be happy to hear it. Well, I might be able to help you to figure out what you’re looking for...."

Evan couldn’t delay discussing this with his wife. Perhaps some information from her could help the Silver Phoenix investigation go faster so that a disaster like the one in Nova City wouldn’t happen again. Everything can be avoided, and there are no more casualties.

Rose saw him in the eyes, trying to say something, but somehow, her tongue felt numb to say something. She didn’t know where to start. Worried that Evan would ask for more details. She is still not ready to tell others that she was actually reborn, back from 10 years from now.

If she tell him, how could Evan believe that? Stories like this only happen in novels or dramas. Something ridiculous, impossible to happen in real life.

Evan would have thought she was crazy. It’s better if she keeps this secret to herself. If the opportunity arose, she would probably be honest with him.

The secret of her rebirth could be delayed but she couldn’t delay telling other people about her information regarding the bombing in Nova city.

In the first place, she had thought of telling her father about her investigation. But, hearing Evan offer to listen and say he could help her... made her more interested in telling Evan than her father.

After thinking for a moment, Rose decided she would tell Evan.

She knew that Evan had access to the military or the police. Maybe by telling him, he could take care of the rest. But she wanted to confirm one thing first with him.

"H-Hubby... about that... Did you also hack my laptop? H-how do you know about that?"

Instead of answering her question, Evan laughed.

"Oh, my dear wife... I didn’t hack your laptop."

Well, although doing so is not difficult for him. Something he could do with his eyes closed. But, to respect Rose’s privacy, he did not do so. Yet he was curious, but he would just wait for her to say it in person.

"Then how did you know about it?"

Rose asked again out of curiosity how her husband knew because she was sure she had never once talked about this to him. Even after that incident, her husband seemed to avoid discussing the matter. He only told her that the incident in Nova City was just an explosion caused by a gas pipe leak.

Before Evan could say anything, something suddenly popped into Rose’s mind that almost made her jump.

"Oh my God! Evan Collins!! Did you put a recorder in my office?"

Evan laughed at her words. He flicked her forehead gently. "Wife, your imagination is really creative, huh!"

Rose rubs her forehead while glaring at Evan, annoyed. "I’m just saying, alright!"

"Wife, do you remember when you fell asleep in your study?" Evan continued his sentence after he saw her nod. "At that time, I accidentally looked at your laptop monitor and the note you wrote on the paper. That’s when I knew you were investigating this case..."

"Damn, Rose! How can you be careless? You’re exposing yourself!" Rose could only scold herself in her heart. Because of her carelessness, Evan saw what she wrote on the paper. Anyone who saw it obviously would be suspicious because she wrote too many details.

After a long pause, Rose decided to tell Evan what she knew about the bombing incident. But, she wouldn’t say where the source of information came from.

"I’ll tell you everything." Rose paused to make eye contact with him. When their eyes met, she continued, "But before I say it, I want you to promise me..."

Without thinking, Evan immediately agreed with her, regardless of what it was. "Agreed! Whatever it is, I will agree with you...."

Rose was taken aback by Evan’s words. This man didn’t even think. He immediately agreed!?

Evan, how much do you trust me?

"Husband, you wouldn’t ask further how I got the information I’m about to tell you ...."

"Hmm... I agree!"

Rose secretly smiled. This man is really something.

"Well... when the time comes, I promise to be honest with you. I’ll tell you everything. But, for now, I’m not ready to say it..."

"Wife..." Evan’s voice sounded low, but Rose could feel his sincerity. "I told you, I believe in you. So you can say..." Evan said.

Even though Evan is undoubtedly curious about what Rose is hiding, he would wait until she could be honest with him. He trusted her as long as what she was hiding wouldn’t hurt her.

"Thanks, hubby! I love you..." Rose smiled lovingly at him before continuing, "Okay, let me explain it to you..." but just as Rose was about to tell him everything, she suddenly heard her father’s voice from the stairs.

"What are you guys doing there? Hurry up... your mother is waiting for you," Nicholas Spencer said.

Since his wife couldn’t wait for his daughter and son-in-law to arrive, Nicholas decided to go downstairs to wait for them. And he was surprised to see them so casually chatting near the stairs.

"Dad ..." Rose immediately walked toward her father. Instantly she forgot what she wanted to say to her husband. She wrapped her arms around her father’s arms as they headed to the third floor.

Meanwhile, Evan couldn’t help but smile at his wife, who looked spoiled at her father. However, at the same time, he was getting increasingly curious about what she would say.

Chapter 322: Try Impressing Dad

As Rose walked into the house, her heart suddenly felt warm seeing her parents together under one roof, one place she calls home. She had wanted to see the sight ever since she and her mother lived in this house. Her overwhelmed emotions instantly filled her heart when she see her dream come true.

Without knowing it, she began to tear up at the sight of the beautiful scene before her eyes. Her father lovingly helped her mother set the table for their lunch without speaking but could see they communicated through loving eyes.

She quickly shifted her gaze, pretending to look for Evan standing not far from her. When she saw his loving smile, she immediately walked toward him. Seeing his eyes made her restless heart instantly much calmer. But her eyes were still teary, causing Evan’s expression to suddenly change. He was worried.

"Hey, Wife... why are you crying?" Evan was surprised to see her eyes slightly red. He pulled her to stand beside him and held her cold hand tightly.

"These are tears of happiness. Evan, I feel so happy to see my father in this house. That’s why I’m crying..." Rose smiled as she tried to stop her tears because she didn’t want her mother and father to know that she was crying. Afraid they will be worried.

But, it was too late because Molly saw it.

"Daughter!? Why are you crying?" asked Molly, who had just finished setting the table. She immediately approached her daughter. Likewise, with Nicholas, he was surprised to see her daughter’s eyes redden. He follows her wife.

As Molly and Nicholas approached Rose, Nicholas couldn’t help but ask, "Did you two fight?" His face looked angry at Evan.

He will smack his son-in-law’s head if he dares to hurt his little daughter.

Evan was taken aback. Why does his father-in-law always suspect him? Damn!

"No, dad. We don’t..." Evan quickly replied. He was afraid that his father-in-law would beat him. He could see the anger flash through his eyes.

Rose was surprised and at the same time, she felt amused when she heard her father’s words. But, when she saw her father’s angry eyes glaring at her husband, it made Rose worried.

"Mm-mmm Dad, Mom... I cried because I was too hungry. Can we eat now?" She smiled at them and pulled Evan to the dining table. "Mom, what are you cooking today?"

She was shocked when she saw many seafood and meat dishes on the table. "Waah... mom... you made all this?"

Rose knew her mother loved to cook, and she always cooks a lot when she cooks. But this was the first time Rose had seen this much. There are 12 kinds of food on the table.

Is her mother trying to impress her father with her cooking skills?

Thinking of this made Rose laugh in her heart.

"Of course not. Your aunt Nora helped me. But now she’s supervising the store ..." Molly answered, then she motioned for all of them to sit down and start eating.

Instantly Rose’s appetite appeared. Makes her feel hungry right away. She silently ate her mother’s cooking, which she had longed for.

Before long, they finished their lunch and moved to the living room to talk. While Evan talks to her dad. She talks with her mom while enjoying her dessert, a fruit cake her mom buys for her.

"Mom, you said Aunt Nora was supervising at the minimart below?"

"Yes. I decided to ask your Aunt Nora as manager. She will help me manage the mini market. And also, she will live in the guest room upstairs. At the same time, she will take care of this house. So, if we come back to this city one day, we can live in this house...."

"That wonderful mother. Aunt Nora will be so happy that she still has a job even if we move..."

Rose was satisfied with her mother’s arrangement, even though she first worried their house would be empty if her mother moved out. But now she didn’t have to worry anymore that there was someone they could trust to look after their property. Because it’s a shame if this property is sold. This land is the only legacy of her grandpa Wilson.

"I know. Ah, did you hear your uncle Jamie is also moving to the capital..."

"I know. Brother Noah told me. So, what happened to the unit downstairs? Do you want to rent it out to another tenant?" Rose asked.

Actually, she had plans to rent the place. She wanted to open a new branch for King’s Game Center. The location of their house is prime, close to campus and a high school. So, she was sure that if King Game Center opened a branch here, it would always be full of customers.

"I don’t have any plans for that yet. But if anyone wants to rent, I’ll definitely agree. Rather than empty..."

"Mom, let me rent the place. I’m planning to open another branch for my game center..." Rose would ask Oliver to arrange if her mother agreed.

Molly was amused by her daughter’s words. Did she forget this building belonged to her?

"My beautiful daughter...." Molly rubs the top of her hair while laughing. "How could you forget that this building is also yours? You don’t need to rent it. Just use it ...."

"Hahaha, Mom, how could I forget!? I didn’t forget, but this is for business. So the company will pay the rent to you..."

"But, isn’t the company in my name?"

"Mom, you’re right. But this building is your private property. That’s a different story."

"Ah.. well, I understand." Molly finally understood what her daughter was trying to say. "You keep that money, save it for my grandchild...." Molly’s eyes lit up at the thought of her future grandchild.

However, Rose’s mouth twitched when she heard her mother talk about it. She immediately excused herself to go to her room. Afraid that her mother would nag her again about pregnancy.

Chapter 323: EVIL

That night after Rose finished bathing, she stood in front of the mirror, staring intently at her reflection. At the same time, her mind was busy thinking about how to tell Evan what she knew about the explosion in Nova city.

To what extent did she have to tell Evan? Should she explain everything she knows or just talk about the outline?

Rose is worried that Evan would be suspicious if what she was about to tell him was too accurate. Rose’s knowledge — about the people that appeared on the CCTV footage and the exact location of another bomb that was about to go off — was indeed accurate.

Rose took another deep breath at the thought that her husband would think she was crazy. Or, perhaps he would think of her as one of the terrorists who had converted to being a good person and divulged all the secrets of the organization.

She suddenly wanted to laugh at the thought that her husband would actually think so.

There’s no way Evan would think that far right? How could someone as weak as she is a member of a notorious terrorist organization?

It wasn’t long before she came out of the bathroom and saw that the room was empty. She immediately looked for her husband outside and found him watching the evening news in the playroom in front of her bedroom.

Rose paused just to satisfy her eyes to see his good looks. A sight that no one out there had ever seen because only she had this privilege. Watching her dear husband in his casual home attire always mesmerized her weak heart.

Even though he only wears a white T-shirt and black training pants, his noble aura still radiates. How handsome he is.

"My dear wife, are you satisfied to see the face?" He asked in a gleeful tone. It made Rose blush.

A weak smile appeared as she sat down next to him. But her smile soon faded when she heard the news on television; Newscasters reported on the condition of the injured people after the Nova City explosion.

Rose’s body froze when she saw some of the victims who were still being treated in hospital on the television screen.

These terrorists are so evil! How did they plant a bomb at the famous busiest station in the city? When a lot of people are on their way to work!?

And painfully, not only adults are victims, but many children.

Rose’s heart ached when she saw some children lose their parents in this bombing incident. And the children themselves are now seriously injured.

The thought that the children would remember this incident for the rest of their lives made Rose’s heart ache even more. Unknowingly, her hands clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

"Evil! This terrorist is so EVIL!" She muttered. Evan, sitting beside her, was shocked to hear that.

Slowly Evan turned to Rose. And how surprised he was when he saw his wife’s face flushed.

Rose was still watching television and was surprised when the screen suddenly went dark. She looked at Evan, confused, "W-Why did you turn off the television? I still want to see the news...." She asks as their eyes lock on each other.

"Wife, you better not watch this news. Your mood will definitely change..." Evan said calmly.

For some reason, Rose agreed with what Evan said. She should not have seen the condition of the victims now, or their images will fill her mind. What’s more, she knew what would happen next; further attacks would occur in several cities.

"Hubby, about the explosion. I know that the news circulating out there is false. I’m sure you know that too, right?" Rose continued, "I know very well that it was a well-planned terrorist bomb, not a gas pipe explosion."

"Hmm... I know that was one of the strong possibilities. But how could you be sure that it was a well-planned terrorist attack? Even the authorities have yet to conclude their investigation. Also, news media only report the explosion as a gas explosion, not a terrorist attack."

Rose frowned, "Didn’t you promise not to ask? I can’t say how I know. But, please believe what I’m about to say can be true..."

"Sorry, wife... I forgot." Evan immediately apologized for his mistake. He smiled and listened to her explanation in silence.

She immediately told him why she suspected the explosion wasn’t just a gas pipe explosion because the blast was so powerful. Plus, she knows a thing or two about a gas explosion. So, her suspicions led her to ask Oliver to find related CCTV footage for her.

To further avoid Evan’s suspicion, Rose also told Evan she learned it from watching detective series on TV. Detectives and police procedurals TV series — like The Blacklist, Sherlock Holmes, and NCIS — have made her want to investigate the incident. With that knowledge and her keen eyes, Rose convinced Evan that she could deduce the explosion was an act of terrorism. And some of the faces she saw in the footage could be the perpetrators.

Evan was taken aback by her explanation. If someone else said this, he would probably burst out laughing and brush it out under the rug. However, since Evan met his wife years ago, she had never said anything ridiculous like this. So, no matter how foolish her story sounds, he would take it as the truth and respond accordingly.

"Hubby, can you contact the authorities? Okay, let me rephrase it. Can you ask the authorities in charge of investigating the explosion to investigate the people I told you about?" Rose asked very carefully. Worried that her husband didn’t have someone he could trust to help her investigate all this. "Actually, I could have Oliver investigate those people, but I’m afraid he’ll think I’m crazy. So now I hope you can help me instead ...."

"You know you can trust me, wife! Send me all the photos of those people’s faces... I’ll get someone competent to investigate them." Evan immediately answered. He can locate anyone as long as the picture of their faces is clear enough.

Chapter 324: Investigating

"Great! Just a moment. I’ll send it to you right now..." Rose immediately opened her phone. Then she sent screenshots of the faces of several men she suspected had something to do with Nova City’s recent explosion. Their faces faintly appeared in her mind after seeing them on the news she had watched in her previous life.

Evan immediately forwarded all the info to Oscar and asked him to investigate it to prove his wife’s guess was correct. Evan also sent Oscar what Rose had written in the notes. About the name of the city where — per Rose’s knowledge — the subsequent bombing will happen.

The thought of another explosion made him suddenly feel stiff.

It was almost midnight, and they both decided to sleep. However, the husband and wife’s minds were too busy thinking even when their eyes were closed.

Evan could feel Rose still moving in his arms. It looked like his wife couldn’t sleep, too, just like him.

"Wife, you are going to sleep, right?" he whispered.

"Sure. But, not yet... somehow, my mind is still buzzing about the incident." The image of the victim she had seen on the news flashed through her mind. Makes her unable to sleep at all.

"Yeah, me too... something is still bothering me." Said Evan.

Rose was shocked to hear that. She immediately looked up to see his face. Though the light in the bedroom was dim, she could feel the uneasy look in his eyes.

"Hubby, what’s bothering you? Tell me, maybe I can help you ..." Rose asked worriedly.

Evan smiled calmly. Finally, he had a chance to ask her about the city he saw, "Wife, about the name of the city you wrote on the note ... Can you explain it to me?"

Rose was surprised Evan saw the city he wrote on the note.

Now she was confused; Does she need to tell Evan that it’s the city and location of the subsequent bombing or just reply that the list means nothing!?

Evan asked again after a long moment passed, "Wife, I know that the city on the list is the location of the next bombing. I just wanted to make sure my guess was right?"

Rose blinked a few times at her husband. Too shocked to hear his words.

How could this man guess correctly?

She could only nod, unable to say anything. Worried that she’d misspoke and revealed her secret.

As Rose fell silent, Evan was getting more profound in his thought. Countless questions now appeared in his mind and tormented his curiosity; How did she know all this? Was his wife really a defected terrorist member? That was why she had leaked this classified information to him.

Evan’s curiosity grew after knowing the vital clue he had just received from his wife. Several times he almost asked her again; how did she know? But worried that his wife would be angry, he forced himself not to ask.

It wasn’t long before Evan could feel his wife finally sleeping in his arms. While he was still not sleepy at all. His eyes felt so fresh. It was as if he had just woken up from his beautiful sleep. Damn it!

He slowly laid his wife’s head on the pillow. Cover her with a blanket. And he immediately got out of bed. He needed to talk to Oscar about their next move.

Evan left the room and called Oscar after he checked his watch. It was almost midnight, but he was sure the man was still awake. He is like a nocturnal creature that is active at night.

"Boss!?" Oscar was surprised to hear Evan’s voice from the other end. "Are you alright? It was unusual for you to call this late at night."

Oscar found it strange. Since he married, Boss never disturbed anyone at night. Everyone thinks he must be busy accompanying Lady Boss to sleep. So this call is really unusual for him.

Evan ignored Oscar’s curious question, "Are there any results from your investigation on the Nova City explosion?" He couldn’t wait to hear what Oscar had got so far. Was his wife’s suspicion of those people true?

Oscar was speechless. Today his Boss is bizarre. Just an hour ago, he gave him some blurry pictures and asked him to investigate, and now he is asking about the result. He never asks for something this hurriedly. Damn!

It wasn’t that Oscar couldn’t find those people, but he needed more time. If only he knew other clues about them, he would find it easier to investigate. Unfortunately, his Boss did not provide any further information.

"Boss, I do recognize one face. But others are still in progress. I can only tell you in the next few hours."

"Damn Oscars! I need you to work faster." Evan pinched his temples, displeased, with Oscar’s answer, "Is it possible for you to give me the answer within 30 minutes?"

Oscar, "..."

Why is Big Boss in a bad mood? Was Lady Boss mad at him?

"Shoot! Why is he venting his anger at me??" Oscar could only curse in his heart, feeling stressed.

After a deep sigh, Oscar replied, Boss, my computer hasn’t arrived in this country. I still use the regular laptop and computer that Gavin provided. If... you need it faster, I might be able to do it with your help, but not within 30 minutes from now. That’s just impossible, Boss."

Oscar immediately regretted having said his last sentence. Now he had to listen to his Boss’s ramblings.

"Oscar, I would have helped you immediately after I sent the pictures if I had the time. But you know I must be by my wife’s side, right? Particularly with what has happened to her lately." Evan paused for a few seconds and said, "Okay, let’s work with what you have now. Oscar, you said you successfully obtained one guy in the footage’s profile?"

"Yes. The guy’s face looks clearer than everyone else’s in the footage. So I can find him pretty quickly. Do you want his profile now?" Oscar asks.

Chapter 325: Teach Him a Lesson!

"Yes. The guy’s face looks clearer than everyone else’s in the footage. So I can find him pretty quickly. Do you want his profile now?" Oscar asks.

"No..." Evan paused for a moment as if he was thinking about something. Then he continues, "Well, I’m sure the identity of that man you found must have something to do with the terrorist organization, right?"

"Yes."

Evan continued, "You can look up other people’s identities using that information. I’m sure they must be connected..."

"Boss, why do you suddenly need everyone’s profiles?" Oscar was curious. Because the man’s identity he discovered was one of the members of the terrorists they fought a few years ago. But it’s been a while since the last time they dealt with them.

Is the terrorist organization causing trouble again, so the big Boss intervenes?

"I’m confident these people are responsible for the explosion in Nova city. And the city’s name and location I send to you are their next target. That’s why I want you to move faster. Because we must stop the next attack. We don’t have much time!" Evan said. He was still shocked when he heard from his wife that the time between the first bomb and the next would only be a week. That meant they only had a few days to prevent the next bomb.

Oscar was also shocked. He just learned that his Boss had deep knowledge about the next attack.

After ending the conversation with Oscar, Evan gasped in surprise when he saw his father-in-law standing not far from where he was.

How long had he been standing there?

Did he hear all of his conversations with Oscar?

As a military general, Nicholas Spencer promptly knew what Evan was talking to the other person on the phone. This is confidential information that cannot be spoken about carelessly. This news would jeopardize the country if the wrong people heard it first.

Nicholas needed to talk to him secretly, worried that his wife or daughter would overhear their conversation, "Evan Collins! Follow me..." Nicholas’ low voice sounded frosty, and it made Evan feel chill.

Under the full moon, they stood in the open garden overlooking the empty street below.

It was so quiet around them. Not a single car passed. Likewise, the lights in the apartments surrounding their building were already dark.

After a few moments, Nicholas glanced at Evan. He knew this young man was not just an ordinary person. His hacking ability is superb, and he is also a talented future soldier. Unfortunately, his family did not allow him to become a military man.

From the rumors Nicholas heard, Evan was involved with an organization. He did not know the name of Evan’s organization. But Nicholas was also uninterested in asking him because whatever it was, Evan’s organization did not interfere with national safety. If what he heard from Sean, his nephew, is correct, Evan’s organization often helps his team in their secret mission.

However, hearing him talk about the explosion in Nova city made him worry if his son-in-law’s organization was involved.

"Tell me, honestly, were you involved with the Nova City bombing?"

Evan, "..."

"Father, no!" Evan was at a loss for words. Yesterday he had to fly to Nova City to assist the Black Eagle, Sean Spencer’s special forces. He gave them the information that the Silver Phoenix had.

But now, how could his father-in-law accuse him of being a member of that terrorist?

Nicholas couldn’t help but frown. Confused. Did he hear wrong?

"Explain what I heard earlier..." asked Nicholas. At the same time, he was relieved that his son-in-law was not involved in the bombing.

"Father, what did you hear?" Evan wanted to make sure first before answering him.

"I heard everything. So, young man, don’t try to hide anything from me!"

Evan immediately told his father-in-law everything, starting from the results of his investigation about the terrorists responsible for the explosion at Nova City and the upcoming bombings. He also said he had given all the information to the special forces, Black Eagle. But Evan didn’t say anything about his wife. The latter hinted at the terrorist’s appearances and the possible subsequent explosion.

Nicholas was utterly shocked.

"So you mean, there’s likely to be another explosion? Not just in one location but in four locations?"

"Yes! But all this information is still being checked as we speak. Not yet confirmed! Right now, I’m still waiting for the results from the investigating people..."

"Oscars Jennings... your trusted hacker, right?" Nicholas asked. "Aren’t you also a powerful hacker? Why don’t you investigate it yourself? "

Evan, "..."

Evan was speechless when his father-in-law knew that Oscar was a hacker.

"Yes, he is a hacker. Just like me." Evan glanced at Nicholas. "Father, I hope you will only keep what I say for your ears. If the perpetrators hear this, they might change their plans before we could catch them red-handed." Evan worries that if the terrorists change like their current plans in Nova City, loss of life will be unpreventable.

"I know. This conversation never takes place...." Nicholas said as he patted Evan on the shoulder and left him. He had been away from his wife for too long.

A few minutes before, Nicholas had gone out to have a drink in the kitchen, but he heard movement in front of his daughter’s bedroom. He decided to check, but he was shocked when he overheard his son-in-law talking to someone on the phone about the bombing in Nova city. Now, everything was clear. He could continue his sleep again with his beloved wife.

Evan couldn’t help but chuckle as his father-in-law disappeared behind the door. Not long after he took his cell phone, he made another call.

"Boss? Why are you calling me again?" Oscar was shocked when this man called him again.

"You remember Oliver Hester, right?"

"Yeah. Sister-in-law’s hackers. Why?"

"I want you to teach him a lesson...."

Oscar was confused by the new order that Evan had given him. But, because he was in a hurry to investigate the terrorist profile, he didn’t have time to ask him more details, "To what extent do you want to punish him?"

"Keep him out of sleep for 24 hours. Let his stress out..." A sly grin appeared on Evan’s lips. "Ah, three nights seems better..."

Oscar was surprised. The Boss asked to attack Oliver’s firewall for that long.

After Evan ended the call, he rushed back to the room to hug his beloved wife.
