Chapter 366: Candidates

Without waiting for them, Rose immediately gets out of bed.

"Careful!" Evan walked quickly to help her. "You want to go to the toilet?"

"No! Evan, where’s Sam? Is he all right?" Without seeing Sam’s physical body, Rose could not be calm.

Evan didn’t answer immediately, but he led her to sit in the seating area as he watched Gavin arrange their dinner. As he sees Gavin finish setting the food and leave the room, Evan looks at her before saying, "Sam is fine. Don’t worry. He’s a strong man!"

"Are you sure?" Rose was afraid that Evan would not be honest with her. Because she clearly remembered Sam’s leg was pinched severely by the car dashboard. No matter how strong Sam was, his patella bone or tibia bone must be considerably injured.

Rose believed that Sam would not be able to walk for long. Realizing this, a wave of sadness appears from the bottom of her heart. Another person closest to her was injured. This was definitely a heavy blow to her.

"Yes. Well, that guy can still eat a lot, which means he’s fine..." Evan chuckled. "But, for now, he can’t guard you. I will assign a new bodyguard for a while until he is healthy."

Her heart sank.

"How long will it take for him to recover?"

"His leg got slightly broken from the crash. He needs time to recover. About three months, maybe more, depending on how quickly he recovers." Evan casually said.

"Alright. Then who will replace Sam?" Rose asked curiously.

"I’m arranging it now. You’ll see..." Evan said mysteriously. Rose didn’t say anything else.

She ate dinner in silence while her mind was busy figuring out who was responsible for the accident. However, just thinking about it for a while made her appetite betray her; Instantly, she lost her appetite.

Before long...

They finished their dinner. Rose and Evan still sat in the seating area.

Only the two of them were in the room. Rose’s parents had already returned to the hotel. Meanwhile, Oliver’s Granny slept in the VIP room in front of their room. She’s waiting for Oliver to come out of the observation room.

Sitting beside Evan while enjoying the city view from the 20th floor, Rose was lost in her deep thoughts.

She forced her brain to work again, trying to guess who was responsible for their incident this morning.

Three candidates came to mind...

First, the Global Group. The company wouldn’t let her get away just like that, would they? It was clear they would use various opportunities to eliminate her. This incident probably wouldn’t have happened if she didn’t lower her guard. This is because of Silver Phoenix, she had too much faith in them to silence Global Group, but the result was not what she had imagined. Gosh!

The second is a terrorist organization, NONE. As an old organization known to be evil and vicious, they must have a way of investigating how the security forces found out about their plans. If what she thought was true, her life might not be peaceful—her name was on the terrorist death list.

The third is the Evil woman, Sonya Moses. The last time she saw her, she could see that the evil woman seemed to have lost her brain function. She was crazy. Even though that Evil woman was in prison, she could have paid someone else to kill her, right?

Thinking of those three possibilities gave Rose the chills. She shook her head slightly as she looked at Evan, who was busy reading something on his cell phone.

"Can I ask you something?" Rose was confident Evan would not sit idly, letting the perpetrators escape, right?

Rose knew that Evan must have someone behind him who could help him solve this kind of problem. Moreover, seeing Evan’s intelligent confidence and above-average strength, she knows that her husband is not simple. But, so far, Rose had not asked him. She wanted to wait for Evan to tell her without being asked.

"Hmm... what is it!?" Evan kept his phone to the side and then looked at Rose.

"About the accident this morning. Did Global Group do it?"

"Why do you think they did it?" Instead of answering her, Evan asked.

Rose hesitates to tell Evan about the Global Group’s intervention when they won the Rapid Realty company. After pondering for a while, she decided to tell the truth—considering they had formed a partnership with Dream Inc.

"Hubby, I don’t know if Sam already told you this..." Rose took a deep breath before continuing, "The old management of Rapid Realty isn’t simple. When we successfully acquired the company, other companies—Global Group—tried to intervene with us. And after Oliver investigated it, we discovered that there was bloodshed behind the Gold mine research...." She told him everything about the researchers or the people who knew about the Gold—was killed.

He also told him about Oliver taking the initiative to ask the Silver Phoenix for help.

Evan listened in silence. He already knew everything but pretended not to.

"Hubby... do you know the Silver Phoenix, right?" Rose remembered she had asked him this. But she just wanted to make sure again.

"Hmm... I know."

"Well, they helped me to take care of the people from other companies who were trying to mess with us. And because of them, our researchers can carry out their duties safely. But what happened this morning? I think the mastermind behind it is Global Group..." Rose sighed deeply before continuing, "And I think the Silver Phoenix failed to help us. How could they miss letting the Global Group attack us?"

Evan almost choked hearing that.

Why? Why now she blames his organization?

Evan cleared his throat, saying, "They didn’t do it..."

"WHAT!? Are you sure?" Rose was surprised to hear that. So it means!? "NONE?"

Evan shook his head.

Rose frowned. Not Global Group, not NONE, then!?

A few seconds later, Rose froze thinking about possible number three, Sonya Moses!

That wicked woman—the mother of pervert and lunatic Dustin—could commit such evil deeds? Could that be?

Chapter 367: Punishment (1)

Instantly her hands clenched into fists holding back the emotions inside her heart and mind that were ready to explode.

"Why? Why is that damn family still a thorn in my life? They seemed unable to disappear. Always showing up even though I have already gotten rid of them!?" Rose murmurs silently.

Rose could only take a deep breath.

"Sonya Moses, you are indeed evil!" said Rose angrily. Then she looked at Evan with an obviously annoyed look, "Hubby, I hate that evil woman so much! Isn’t it enough that she almost killed my mother and now tries to kill me too!?" Rose’s angry look made Evan hold back his laughter.

He could see how adorable his little wife was when she was angry like this. He wanted to pinch her cheeks but held it in for a moment, waiting for her anger to subside.

"Wife, actually, I know Sonya Moses didn’t do it. I have hindered her so much that she will never see the light of day. Let alone do such a big thing as attacking us or anyone else. And don’t worry about her. She’ll perish soon...."

Rose was stunned.

If not Sonya Moses, then who?

Besides Sonya Moses, Rose was confident no other person had a grudge against her.

After pondering for a moment, her eyes widened in shock, staring at Evan.

"Mr. Evan Collins!! Don’t tell me this incident has anything to do with many women out there that has big crushes on you!? They got rid of me to eliminate any competition to win your heart, right!?" She looked at him with a strange expression.

Rose had heard from Sam that Evan had many secret admirers. She was sure that this morning’s incident had something to do with one of the women—his pursuers.

Evan, who had just been drinking, suddenly coughed. Choking in shock at Rose’s words.

Seeing Evan’s face turn red, Rose just shook her head slightly.

"Waa... I didn’t expect my guess to be right!" Rose took a deep breath. For some reason, she was a little annoyed.

But then she froze.

No one knows their relationship, right!?

"How did our relationship get known? Didn’t you promise to cover it up?" As she said that, the image of Willard Harper crossed her mind. She was shocked.

Did Willard tell anyone about her relationship with Evan?

"My dear wife, your imagination is indeed wild..." Evan grabbed her chin. He made her eyes lock into him then he continued his words, "This accident has nothing to do with you. But you were just unlucky to be in that car."

"Huh! If not me, then who?" Rose knit her brow feeling lost—can this man just say who did it? Why does he like twirling his words? It makes her little brain tired of thinking.

She retook a deep sigh waiting for his answer.

"It’s Oliver! This incident is related to him. Someone wants to take his life..."

Rose felt that the news was too shocking.

It must be that fatty Archy Hester!?

How could she forget about that possibility!?

Her face turned dark, remembering her encounter with Archy Hester a few days ago. Now that she knew why Oliver wanted to step down from CEO, he could predict this. Damn! Suddenly she felt wanting to slap that fatty boy!

"Archy Hester?" She asks.

Evan was slightly surprised hearing her words. How could she know?

"Hmm.... Archy Hester asked a mercenary to eliminate his half-brother."

"Archy Hester is cunning and shameless. Those are the genetic traits of the Hester Family. I guess!! After their terrible and unfair treatment of Oliver, now they want to take his life too? What the hell!"

"What do you want to do with him?" Evan asked curiously. Even though he knew and had all the evidence of Archy Hester’s involvement in this morning’s accident, he did nothing. He was waiting for his wife to decide what steps to take to punish that bastard.

Rose was in a daze.

The whole day was like an emotional roller coaster for her after experiencing an incident that almost took their lives. She is haunted by a nightmare. And now she feels shocked by the news; she is not the target but Oliver. Gosh!

If asked what she wanted to do to Archy Hester, it was clear she wanted revenge. Give back what Archy had done to them—She was not a good person who would be silent if someone challenged her.

However, since Archy Hester was of Oliver’s family, she couldn’t make up her mind. She would wait for Oliver to wake up and let him decide what to do with Archy Hester.

"Hubby, I’ll wait for Oliver to wake up first. I need to talk to him..." Rose paused when a brilliant idea came to her mind. "But, even though we can’t touch Archy Hester, can we subdue his family business?" Rose continued her sentence.

"You mean we bankrupt their company?" Evan raises his brow, surprised to hear her idea.

"Yeah, something like that..." an evil smile appeared on the corners of her lips.

"Consider it done!"

Rose smiled happily as she, without a doubt, knew Evan could do something like that. He’s powerful.

"Hubby, I have another idea... Can you make their shares touch the lowest price? If you can, buy the shares under a pseudonym, I want to give that share to Oliver."

"Hmm, sure we can."

"Yay! Thank you, Hubby. I want Oliver to become the largest shareholder in the Hester Group. I want to repay Oliver’s kindness by giving him the Hester Group."

Her wish was to repay Oliver’s kindness by returning the rights he should have had—as the heir to the Hester Group.

"Please make sure it will be done quickly?" Rose asked again.

Evan smiles and nods.

"Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. And as for Archy Hester, tell me how Oliver wants his payback. I’ll execute it on his behalf...." Even though Archy’s goal was to kill Oliver, he made an ultimate fatal mistake. Rose was in the car.

Evan was tolerant of many things, but when it came to his wife, he would take extreme measures to punish anyone who hurt her. And that means Archy Hester is about to pay for what he has done.

Chapter 368: Punishment (2)

The Next Morning.

That morning after breakfast, Rose went straight to Oliver’s room. Just as she was about to knock, the door opened from the inside. She saw Oliver’s Grandma out of the room.

"Little Rose, what a coincidence... Could you accompany Oliver for a while?" said Grandma as she held Rose’s hand gently.

"Of course, Grandma..." Rose smiled as she watched Grandma leave. For a slight moment, she stood there until Grandma entered the elevator.

After she entered the room, she was speechless to see Oliver sitting on the bed enjoying his breakfast. His eyes were focused on the TV hanging not far in front of him. He looked healthy, different from the last time she saw him looking weak and helpless.

If she hadn’t seen the bandage peeking out from under his hospital gown, she might have thought Oliver wasn’t severely injured yesterday.

Despite seeing his pale face, the look in his eyes was much brighter than the last time she saw them when they were still stuck in the car.

Gosh! She’s worried too much

"Morning! How are you feeling?" Rose sat in the chair near the bed.

"Never been better!" Oliver was a little surprised to see Rose appear. He smiled as he pushed the table aside, "Don’t be sad... I heard from Danny and Randy you cried a lot last night?"

"That stinky traitor!" Rose cursed Danny and Randy in her heart. How could they expose her like that? This man would definitely tease her for the next few months. Gosh!

Rose ignored Oliver’s words, "Do you know who attacked us?"

Oliver raised his eyebrows to look at Rose.

Since he woke up last night, he had been thinking about this, and he only had one suspect on his mind.

"Global Group, right!?"

Rose couldn’t help but smile because of what she thought was the same as Oliver. The first suspect that comes to her mind is Global Group.

"No. Not those bastards..."

"What!! Then who?"

"Evan and I think it’s your half-brother’s henchmen..."

"That stupid evil Archy... he dared to kill me?" The expression on Oliver’s face was hardened, and the chill on his face was bone-chilling.

Although he hated the Hesters to the bone and wanted to teach them a lesson, it never crossed his mind to kill them. All he wanted to do was a cyber attack.

He wanted to prevent Hester’s group from expanding its business in Nova City. It’s time for that arrogant family to be replaced with another family. They don’t deserve to be the number one respected family there.

However, what that bastard Achry did yesterday was beyond his limits. Now he has changed his plan.

Apart from destroying the Hester Group, he would also punish Archy Hester until he had no will to live. He would humiliate him in public. He will reveal all the evil deeds that no one but him knows.

Besides, he knew the Hester Group’s dark secret of running the business, making them number one in town. And with that card, he would push them into a corner. They had mistakenly kicked him and his mother out of the Hesters.

And now they want to kill him? Obviously, that was their biggest mistake.

"Archy Hester!! I will make you suffer. I will tarnish your name until you have no choice but to leave this country or commit suicide." Oliver swore in his heart as he curled his lips into a nasty smile, and the evil flames danced happily in his eyes.

"So what’s your decision?" Rose asked after seeing Oliver so pensive, "My husband can’t wait any longer. He wants to teach the fat boy a lesson..."

"I have three plans. First, I will destroy the Hester Group until their shares hit rock bottom until no one else dares to buy their shares...." Oliver paused when he saw Rose laugh. "Why do you laugh?"

"Well, I thought so too! I’ve asked Evan to do that. So you don’t have to worry..." Rose feels amused to have the same thoughts as Oliver.

Oliver was thoroughly speechless. This girl was always one step ahead of him. Damn!

"So, what is your next plan?"

After Oliver took a deep breath. After a few seconds of silence, he said, "My second plan is I will also expose my grandfather’s crimes while doing business in Nova city." Seeing Rose’s shocked face made Oliver chuckle.

He continued, "My grandfather was a ruthless businessman. He even manipulated his own son to get what he wanted. And stupidly, my father couldn’t do anything under the influence of that old man. Well, I won’t hurt him directly, but I will harm the company he’s built and is proud of... this is the greatest revenge for him!"

Rose was surprised to see the evil look in Oliver’s eyes. This was the first time she had seen this side of Oliver. Usually, this man was gentle but what she saw in his eyes now was killing intent.

After a short pause, he continued, "And my third plan, even though I want to take revenge on Archy, I won’t use the way he did to me. That’s not who I am. I am a law-abiding citizen...." A smile formed on his face.

"But, I will destroy Archy Hester’s mentality. I will humiliate him in public until he has no chance to breathe the fresh air of this country. Well, if he’s smart enough, he might run away to another country, but if stupid, he might stay in his room or even kill himself...." Oliver continued.

Rose utterly dumbstruck hearing his plan.

Sure enough, this man is a pervert. To savage!

"Rose, I will torture him. Death was too easy for him...." Oliver shook his head as he recalled how evil Archy and his mother had been when they entered the Hester family.

The plan he will carry out in the next few months seems to have to be done immediately. Oliver vows to make the kid’s life so miserable that he will regret being born in this country.

Chapter 369: Curious

Seeing Rose silent as if thinking about something made Oliver frown.

"Do you think I’m evil?" He asks.

Rose slowly raised her head to look at Oliver, before saying, "Of course not! I will support whatever you do for them. And... Oliver, I owe you one!" She smiles.

"Huh! You owe me!?"

"For risking your own life to protect me."

The thought of Oliver unbuckling his seatbelt and holding her tightly in his embrace made Rose feel touched and, at the same time, feel guilty.

"But, please, don’t do anything like that again. I don’t want to lose my best friend. I... I’ll blame myself if anything happens to you." Her voice trembled.

Oliver was taken aback by her words.

"Rose, listen... I have never regretted my decision. And if something like this happens again, I will do the same. You are the only friend I have. And ever since we were little, you were the only one protecting me, even though I’m a boy...."

Oliver chuckled, remembering the times they were bullied, and often Rose defended him, not the other way around.

Rose’s eyes are slightly red when she hears Oliver’s words. It’s as if there was an invisible force that pulled her back in time when they were still in East City, struggling in their lives in elementary and middle school. She would never forget the dark times they were insulted by others.

"Silly girl, why are you crying!? Look... Now, I’m an adult. I’m stronger than you, so I’ll protect you. Just accept that, okay!?"

"You!" Rose was speechless, but deep down, she felt touched and grateful to have a kind friend like Oliver.

After some time...

Rose left Oliver’s room. She didn’t go back to her room but visited Sam instead. Sam was being cared for on the same floor as her.

This is the first time Rose would see Sam since yesterday’s incident. Because after waking up from her stupor yesterday, Rose’s mind was distracted by Oliver’s condition. She had utterly forgotten about Sam and herself, who had also been hurt. She was also still in a shocking state and exhausted—she slept until nightfall.

However, when Rose remembered about Sam, she could not visit him because Sam was sleeping and still under anesthesia after surgery.

Rose came into Sam’s room...

She saw Sam lying on the bed with his leg in a knee-to-toe cast. Instantly she felt sad and, at the same time, angry seeing him lying in such a condition.

She Covered her mouth with her palm as she muttered under her breath, "Oh my God! Sam..." She held back her tears and couldn’t see how bad Sam’s legs were now. Now she doubted Sam would recover in the next two or three months. She was sure Sam’s legs could be cured probably next year.

She clenched her fists in anger and frustration.

Now she was even angrier at Archy Hester for hurting Sam and Oliver. At first, she felt Oliver’s revenge was cruel. But seeing Sam’s condition changed her mind completely—Oliver’s punishment was too easy.

"Oh god, please strike that despicable Archy Hester to death!" Rose whispered in her heart.

With annoyance filling her heart, Rose slowly walked to Sam’s bed. She didn’t want to wake him, this man would overreact if he saw her; afraid the cast on his leg would crack from trying to exuberantly welcome her.

But, being a martial arts expert, Sam could hear her footsteps. He opened his eyes when Rose stopped right beside his bed.

"B-Boss, you came?" With a hoarse voice, Sam greeted Rose. He tried to get up, but before he could move, Rose held him back.

"Stop! Don’t move!!" Rose asked him to lie down. After making sure Sam didn’t force himself to sit up, she could finally feel relief.

"How’s your leg? Does it still hurt? How long..." Rose couldn’t continue her sentence as if the words had stopped on the tip of her tongue; she was too sad to see his legs.

"Boss, don’t be sad. It doesn’t hurt at all. I’m used to this kind of injury. It’s normal for me when I’m training in martial arts..."

"Do not lie to me, Sam. I know when you’re lying!" Rose rolled her eyes. "Also, your pale face can’t fool anyone, Mr. Sam Russel! And I can see you wince as you move!" She shook her head, knowing that this man was lying to her.

"I’m telling the truth, Boss! Mmm... It hurts a little, but the nurse gave me painkillers. You don’t have to worry. An injury like this won’t kill me." Sam laughed, trying to lighten the mood.

"Well, Evan said you won’t be working for the next three months. So, he will assign a new person for me. Honestly, I don’t want anyone to replace you. . . but my husband insisted. So please get well soon. Don’t make me wait for too long, alright?"

Sam’s mouth twitched at how quickly Big Boss replaced him.

Was this punishment because he neglected his duty which caused their car to fall into a ravine?

Sam could only take a deep breath.

"Don’t worry, Boss. I will return to work as soon as possible, in a month... I promise!" Although Sam was sad, he agreed with Evan’s decision— Rose’s safety was more important.

"What! No... don’t force yourself. You should focus on healing yourself first and follow the doctor’s advice..." Rose was surprised. She regretted asking Sam to get well soon. After all, she just wanted to tease him. But this man seems pressured.

Instantly Rose was worried.

Sam nods with a faint smile appearing on his face.

"Sam, do you know who will be appointed to replace you? I tried to ask Evan, but he said; it’s a secret..." Rose was curious. However, Evan did not reveal the temporary bodyguard’s identity.

Sam pondered for a moment.

After some time, he looked at Rose, "If my guess is right, he will assign the stronger one. And, there is one currently idle...."

"Who?" Rose asks curiously.

Chapter 370: Someone Miss Her

Sam was confused. Should he tell her or not?

Considering his big Boss saying this is a secret, Sam decides not to give her a clue.

He cleared his throat before replying, "Lady Boss, sorry, I can’t tell you. You’d better ask Big Boss. He’d probably break my other leg if I told you." Said Sam jokingly. But Sam was truly afraid of the big Boss and never wanted to anger him about anything. "Besides, I was only guessing. I’m not sure who the new person is..." Sam said calmly.

Now his big Boss is already mad at him. Sam didn’t want to add any more reasons for Evan’s anger at him. He might be fired from his job—protecting Lady Boss if he does that. He didn’t want that to happen.

Rose chuckled.

She knows it!

There was no way Sam would spill anything. She knew this man was devoted to her husband.

"You! Are you scared of Evan? Damn Sam! I told you often that now you work for me, not my husband." Rose glared at Sam.

Sam didn’t say anything. He just lowered his head to avoid Rose’s piercing gaze as he prayed for his Lady Boss to stop asking him questions.

Although annoyed that Sam remained silent, Rose was praising Sam in her heart. This man was genuinely loyal.

After a while, they were lost in their own thoughts. Sam finally broke the silence, "B-boss... how about you. Are you really okay?" He was distraught seeing some of the bandages on her arms and forehead.

"Yeah, I’m fine. Just a small cut and a little bruise..."

"Thank God..." Sam said with the same intonation as before, nervous. "Lady Boss, I’m so sorry. I can properly guard you."

"Sam, it’s not your fault. You already know who did it, right?" Seeing Sam nod, she continued, "We were just unlucky, being in that car..." Rose smiled bitterly.

"But I still feel wrong for provoking that fat guy in the elevator. If I don’t provoke him too much..." Sam stopped when he saw Rose raise her hand—ask him to stop talking.

"Sam, forget the past. Now you only need to watch the show. There will be a special gift for the fat boy!"

"What do you mean, Boss?" Sam is confused.

"We will teach him!" An evil smile framed Rose’s face. Made Sam understand what his Boss was up to. He smiled too.

Suddenly his mood blossomed upon hearing this happy news. Even though he was starting to feel his legs hurt, he was still in an excellent perspective to imagine the fat boy’s punishment. Now, he wondered what Lady Boss and Oliver would do to Archy Hester.

Just as Sam was about to ask, he heard Rose say...

"Sam, we’re returning to the Capital three days from now. I hope the doctor will let you come back with us." Rose couldn’t bear to leave Sam alone because he had no friends and family in this city.

"I hope so..." Sam could only pray.

After chatting about a few things, Rose immediately returned to her room. A very determined man had sent her many text messages asking her to return. Looks like someone missed her.

When Rose returned to her room, she saw Evan neatly dressed in his formal office attire; a white slim-fit shirt and dark gray pants. Looks like he’s about to attend an important meeting.

"Are you leaving?"

"Did you forget!?"

"Forget what?"

Evan chuckled before saying, "I have a meeting with Marvin to discuss Dream Inc’s collaboration with Wilson Group. Randy will represent Wilson Group, Marvin will represent Dream Inc, and me? I will act as a listener." A faint smile graced his handsome face before he pulled her into his arms and gently stroked her silky dark blonde hair, "My pretty wife, I promise you... I will make sure your company will benefit well from this collaboration."

"Sorry, I completely forgot." Rose could only scold herself in her mind. How could she forget about this meeting?

"Hubby, well, I would be very grateful if my company benefited more but don’t let Dream Inc suffer...."

"Haha... don’t worry," Evan said while pinching her nose gently.

Rose was touched because Evan helped her at this time—when Oliver couldn’t carry out his duties as CEO.

She wanted to attend the meeting, but her husband was very protective. Since last night Evan has asked her to rest and not think about work. In fact, she didn’t need to use up much energy to attend this morning’s meeting. She just needed to sit in the room and listen to Randy and the others who would represent the company.

"Mmm... Evan, may I come with you?" Rose already knew the answer, but she kept asking—trying her luck.

"No, you can’t...." Evan’s tone was firm

Rose could only accept it.

"Wife, be good... I asked your parents to come. They will accompany you while I am away. So you stay in this room, don’t go anywhere, and don’t think about the company. Not even a bit. I’ll take care of everything and be back before lunch...."

"Okay. Thank you, hubby..." She said softly—She couldn’t win against her beloved husband.

"Don’t say that. I’m your husband... I must help you." Evan smiled. "Alright, wait for me here. I’ll be right back."

"Ooo...."

A few minutes after Evan left, Molly and Nicholas Spencer arrived.

Rose is surprised to see her parents carrying four shopping bags. She could see them buying snacks and fresh fruit.

"Oh my God... why did you guys buy this much? I won’t be staying here long."

Rose faintly said. She is sitting on the Sofa with her father. While her mother was busy taking out the contents of the shopping bag on the table.

Her eyes widened at the sight of her favorite chips and fruit.

Did her mother think she was a child? She hadn’t eaten those chips in a long time.

She remembered the last time she ate it when she was a teenager. Adding another 10 years before her rebirth, she didn’t eat it for more than two decades. Now she had forgotten the taste. Gosh!
