His Secret Lover Returning from the Dead Chapter 1251
The Truth
Sebastian stopped himself from imagining the worst.
He did not realize this, but his tone had taken on a softer note when he asked his father that last question.
Shin took a sip of his tea and thought hard about how best to answer Sebastian’s question.
“Eddie was a very clever person. For many years, he has single-handedly built up his massive underworld power. He trusted no one but himself.”
Seeing Sebastian was keeping silent, Shin continued, “At one point, I started to suspect that Louis wasn’t as extraordinary as everyone thought he was. His younger brother, Eddie, was the key. What really got me thinking was that Eddie didn’t plan for any big movement in the beginning.”
Sebastian was dumbstruck for a moment.
What does he mean by Eddie didn’t plan for something big in the beginning? Does this mean when Louis rose to the highest commanding position, Eddie was still loyal to him?
After a long pause, Shin finally let on what he had been analyzing for a few decades. “I suspect that has got to do with Judith’s death.”
Shin’s sudden revelation had stunned Sebastian.
“Are you telling me that old geezer had a thing for her?” His face was filled with disgust.
Shin was flabbergasted, followed by slight amusement.
“No, that’s not what I meant. Judith was already married and had a daughter at that time. So that was not going to happen. What I meant to say was that she, too, was an intelligent and sharp-witted person. I’m sure you’re familiar with the historic battle of the North Sea?”
Sebastian tried to recollect his memory. “Yes, I do. Isn’t that the most crucial battle during the independence war?”
“That’s the one. In every history book, Louis was the brain and hero behind this critical battle, bringing victory to us all. But when you met Eddie, what did he say to you about this battle?”
“Eddie?” Sebastian was slightly startled at the unexpected question directed at him. But he soon recalled the conversation he had with Eddie when the latter hacked into his security monitor last night.
“That’s right. He said that even though Louis had led the military advancement, he was the one who had done most of the work. Eddie also mentioned Judith and said she knew everything. But now…”
“That was him fooling himself. Judith was the one behind all the strategy-planning in the battle of the North Sea. I didn’t make this up. These were all clearly recorded in Louis’ note,” Shin said with a sneer on his face.
This was the first time Sebastian had seen Shin losing his usual composure when relaying an incident.
Sebastian was still in shock, trying to digest all the information dumped at him all at once.
They won the battle because of Judith? In such a case, I really had misunderstood Eddie’s intention. He was not in love with her. The more probable explanation is that he was jealous of her. More so, he must have hated her for stealing his thunder. Eddie thought it was time for him to shine, to prove to everyone that he was worthy as a military leader. But that dream was crushed into pieces. That’s when he started to turn to the dark side, slowly plotting his revenge.
Suddenly, Sebastian felt a chill down his spine as a couple of ideas started to form in his mind.
His hand trembled at that thought, causing the tea to spill from the cup.
“What are you thinking about?” Shin asked calmly.
After a long moment of silence, Sebastian looked deeply into his father’s eyes and asked carefully, “What about the death of Louis and Judith?”
“I can’t say I’m sure. But think about it. As the founding father of this country, is it normal to find his corpse in an ice cave underneath this temple? And as for Judith, she had survived the war that had lasted for nearly ten years. But she suddenly died just as the North Sea battle was concluded and a new government was to be formed. Don’t you think that’s too much of a coincidence?”
The old monk was no longer holding back. He was firing question after question at Sebastian. His expression was full of hatred and detestation.
This was the first time he had let his emotion roam free after decades of keeping them in. After all, he had served a long while in the military. Traces of justice and fighting spirit would always remain in his blood no matter how much time had passed.
Sebastian remained silent. But at that moment, the cup in his hand was on the verge of being crushed into pieces. Every fiber on Sebastian’s face was exuding a cold, chilling desire for bloodshed.
“Don’t you worry. I’ll bring him here.”
“What do you mean?”
“I want him to return to where he belongs. Be it by the door of this temple or at the entry of hell. I want him torn into pieces!”
Crack!
The cup in his hand finally broke into pieces.
This was the last message sent out from him.
His Secret Lover Returning from the Dead Chapter 1252
Welcome Back
When Sebastian came back from Aquene Temple, Devin had already brought Jonathan to the Oceanic Estate.
With Jonathan around, the atmosphere of the Oceanic Estate became livelier.
Once the people who were siding with the Jadesons heard that Jonathan was released, they all came to the Oceanic Estate to celebrate his return.
As soon as Jonathan arrived at the Oceanic Estate, he was greeted with the sound of firecrackers.
“Once you step over this brazier here, the Jadesons will return to its formal glory,” uttered Jared, who was standing beside the brazier.
Gazing at Jonathan, Jared was getting emotional. He proceeded to sweep Jonathan’s body with a few mugwort leaves.
There, there. Let’s get all that bad luck off of you.
In retrospect, Jared realized how daft he was to have instigated the people at The Ataraxy. After the fall of the Jadesons, he became powerless.
No one would even treat him to a meal anymore.
After Jonathan stepped over the brazier, Jared quickly went to gather the guests.
Inside the estate, Jonathan went into the garden to have a chit-chat with his close friends and old acquittances. Their conversation lasted till Sebastian came back.
“Mr. Jadeson is back.”
Everyone in the garden suddenly became taciturn.
Subsequently, they all turned toward Sebastian, who just come inside.
They stared reverently at him as he approached the garden.
Jonathan put down the cup of coffee in his hand and went to greet him.
“You’re back.”
“Yup,” Sebastian replied apathetically.
What’s with the big party? I’m not really in the mood right now.
Seeing the look on Sebastian’s face, Devin uttered, “You must be tired. You should get some rest upstairs. I’ll call you when it’s time to eat.”
“Okay.”
Sebastian’s face looked relieved.
He then went upstairs without greeting anyone.
“Old Mr. Jadeson, it’s been rather rough for your grandson recently. We can’t fathom how much he has sacrificed for our country.”
“Yeah. I heard that he was trapped in a hospital for several days because of that old man. What a poor soul. If it wasn’t for him, we’d be…”
Everyone started to tear up.
Fraught with guilt, Jonathan had a melancholy look on his face.
I’m sorry I failed you, Sebastian. Do know that I’m very proud of you. You’ve accomplished so much at such a young age. I’m glad that you’re my grandson.
The party at the Oceanic Estate lasted till three o’clock in the afternoon.
In the meantime, Sebastian was looking through the old documents that he got from Shin back at the Aquene Temple.
Sasha, who was worried that Sebastian was hungry, went upstairs with a tray of food in her hands.
“Sebby, what are you looking at? Here, you should eat something. Your body hasn’t fully recovered yet.”
“Okay.”
Sebastian placed the old documents aside before walking over to the table in front of Sasha.
This looks nutritious.
There’s medicinal soup in addition to my favorite beef steak.
Even the honeydew on the side looks intricately prepared.
“Eat up. These are all your favorites.”
Sasha placed the tray on the table and sat down in front of him. Her eyes were brimming with anticipation.
Glancing at the adorable look on her face, Sebastian was enraptured.
After taking a seat, He cut a slice of the steak and fed it into Sasha’s mouth.
“Do I look handsome?”
“Yes.”
Sebastian lowered his head and started enjoying the steak.
Sasha stared pensively at him while he was eating the steak. A while later, she uttered with gravitas, “Sebby, I have something to tell you.”
Sebastian was stupefied. “What’s with the serious tone? Is something up?”
Sasha frowned and responded, “It’s about Edmund. I feel like he’s trying to do something to Sab.”
Sebastian stopped eating.
What?
He had a perplexed look on his face. “Did you find out something off about him? Edmund is Devin’s friend. They’re actually pretty close. Maybe there’s some kind of misunderstanding here?”
His Secret Lover Returning from the Dead Chapter 1253
She Is Not Yours
Sasha shook her head.
“No. He’s been trying to approach Sab for quite a while now. Back at the Aquene Temple, he didn’t notice that I knew he wasn’t Devin. He was acting rather intimate toward Sab.”
Sebastian’s face turned ashen. “Is Sabrina cognizant of this?”
Sasha sighed before answering, “I’m not sure. As you already know, Sab can be quite dense sometimes. That being said, she should know to stay away from Edmund. She’s been keeping her distance from him in the past when I wasn’t around.”
“Also, about Devin. It seems like he has a lot of trust for Edmund. When you were busy rescuing me, he let Edmund take care of Sab at the Oceanic Estate. I really can’t believe he…”
Sasha was reticent to say anything more.
If Devin keeps on being this careless, Sab will unequivocally get taken away from him.
With a minatory look on his face, Sebastian responded, “I understand now. Don’t worry. I’ll take care of this.” He then resumed to eat the beef steak.
“Okay!”
The vise that had been gripping Sasha’s heart all day long finally loosened up.
That night, after all the guests were gone, Edmund was called to the study room by Sebastian.
Mr. Jadeson is calling for me?
Upon hearing that Sebastian was asking for him, Edmund felt chills down his spine.
Having composed himself, he strode toward the study room.
A while later, Sasha, who was cleaning up with the housemaid in the living room, saw the ashen look on Edmund’s face as he exited the study room.
He looked like a furtive villain who had just been exposed.
Sasha kept on glaring at Edmund as he gloomily left the Oceanic Estate.
It seems like he’s been taught a lesson.
Sasha was delighted.
After a few minutes, Devin was also called to the study room.
“Sebastian, you asked for me?”
“Yes. I’d like to know about your future arrangements for Edmund.”
Sebastian went straight to the point.
Devin truthfully replied, “I plan to move him to the senate. He’s been a great help to us during this quagmire. Without him, it’d be hard for us to take control of the Coopers’ family business.”
“Hmm, I don’t think you should move him to the senate. He doesn’t possess the necessary qualifications for that yet. You should send him back to Yorksland for training first. This is to prevent people from thinking that you are misusing your authority,” replied Sebastian.
Devin must’ve overlooked Edmund’s behavior due to his trust and gratitude for him.
After all, Edmund did help him out when he was in a plight.
The two of them were the ones who killed Benedict back then.
Hence, I can’t bring myself to tell Devin the truth about Edmund. It’d be a shame if the precious bond that they share gets broken just because of a woman.
Devin had a bewildered look on his face. “With his current ability, I think he’s more than capable to handle a position at the senate. Honestly, I just want what’s best for him.”
“Do you want the Jadesons to fall apart?”
Sebastian gave Devin a frigid gaze to shut him up.
Moments after Devin left the study room, he gave Edmund a call and informed him of the bad news.
However, Edmund was rather nonchalant about the news.
Meanwhile, Sabrina, who was lulling the kids to sleep, lifted her head up to glance at Devin.
“Why are you calling him at this hour? You’re going to wake the kids. Hang up the call.”
“Yes, Darling.”
Devin gave Edmund a terse goodbye and hung up the phone.
After Devin hung up the call, Edmund glanced around the desolated garden that he was in.
His eyes looked lifeless and despondent.
He then opened his smartphone and blocked all his recent contacts.
Later that night, he left Jadeborough.
After fifteen days had passed, Jadeborough reverted to its usual bustling state.
With that, the Jadesons were also doing very well.
Seeing as such, Sasha wanted to visit the kids at Miralaea.
“Sebby, I miss them a lot. Can I please go and see them? Don’t worry, I won’t bring them back here since that abhorrent old man is still on the loose.”
His Secret Lover Returning from the Dead Chapter 1254
Your Wife Is Pregnant
Sebastian was contemplative.
I can’t accompany her though since I’m quite busy these days.
I’ve been running back and forth between the Aquene Temple and the Jadeson residence in hopes of locating the old man as soon as possible.
That being said, it should be fine to let her visit the kids first.
“Okay, you can go and see them first. Karl hasn’t recovered yet though. Who do you want your driver be?”
“Uhh…”
Sasha was in a quandary.
Who should I choose?
It’s very perilous to head outside alone since Eddie is still at liberty.
Hence, I need a stalwart driver by my side.
“How about me?” A deep voice was heard from outside the study room.
Sasha lifted her head up to gaze at the person who was coming into the room.
“You want to accompany me, Grandpa? But you…”
“What? Am I not allowed to?”
Seeing the reluctant look on Sasha’s face, Jonathan was peeved. He scowled before adding on, “Let me tell you something. I was leading an army when these two were still in their mothers’ tummy. Are you doubting my capabilities?”
“N-No, of course not…”
Sasha was stuttering.
That’s not what I meant.
I’m just worried that his old age would get the better of him during our excursion.
“Grandpa, that isn’t what I meant. I am merely…”
“Just let him tag along. I’ll find a few strong men to accompany you two,” Sebastian cut her off.
Sasha was speechless.
Gazing at her face, Jonathan let out a grin.
“See, even Sebastian is okay with me tagging along. I’ll go pack my things now. Tony, get the car ready for me. I need to head to Silvervale.
Sasha let out a joyous smile.
Vivi loves the desserts in Silvervale.
In the end, Jonathan went with Sasha on her excursion to Miralaea.
Upon hearing this news, Sabrina was overjoyed. She took out all the toys as well as clothes that she bought for her niece and nephew and handed them over to Sasha.
“Take these with you. The battleship figurines here are exclusive. Those two will definitely like them.”
“Okay. Let me thank you on their behalf.”
Sasha smiled brightly.
She sure does love her niece and nephew. Back when she was still in the Hayes Residence, She would always watch over them. Moreover, she also put Vivi under her aegis when she was at the Oceanic Estate.
Sabrina took out a strange looking box and gave it to Sasha.
“There’s more? What is it?”
“How could you not know what this is? It’s Vivian’s favorite thing, dolls. You dare call yourself a mother when you don’t even know what your daughter likes?”
Sabrina glared at Sasha with contempt.
Chagrined, Sasha lowered her head and accepted the box from Sabrina’s hands.
When she opened the box, she saw several dolls that looked one of a kind. The dolls were exceptionally beautiful.
“Pretty, right? Let me tell you something. Vivi is already nine years old. A girl her age would want to play with these types of dolls. The dolls here are custom-made for her,” Sabrina explained patiently.
I’m such a good aunt.
She put on a smug face.
Filled with gratitude, Sasha wanted to thank Sabrina once again. However, before she could, a pungent smell went into her nose and gave her the urge to puke.
Sasha quickly covered her mouth and ran outside.
Sabrina was baffled.
What?
Were the dolls that revolting?
The dolls are made of agarwood and are very clean.
Wait, could it be that she’s…
The woman who was carrying a child raised her eyebrows and dashed outside.
A few minutes later, Sebastian’s conversation with the people in the garden was interrupted by the same woman carrying a child.
“Good news, Sebastian! Your wife is pregnant with another baby!”
“What did you say?”
Sebastian was incredulous. Is that really true? Or has she just gone gonzo?
The woman continued on, “Your wife is pregnant! She puked in my room just now. I gave her a doll and she just puked. Why would a doll make her want to puke? She must be pregnant.”
His Secret Lover Returning from the Dead Chapter 1255
Pregnant
Because of Sabrina’s big mouth, everyone at Oceanic Estate soon knew that Sasha could be pregnant.
Jonathan was most enthusiastic about it, asking Sebastian to leave everything aside and bring Sasha to the hospital for a check-up right away.
Sebastian and Sasha went speechless.
At last, the couple went out from Oceanic Estate.
On the way, Sebastian hesitated for a long time before asking gingerly, “Darling, are you really pregnant?”
If she is really pregnant, I’ll be over the moon.
The biggest regret he had was not being able to be there when his children were born. There were times when he woke up in the middle of the night, full of remorse while gazing at the woman beside him.
Therefore, if she was pregnant again, he was willing to kneel and bow his head all the way to Aquene Temple to express his gratitude.
However, the woman next to him seemed to be at a loss.
“I’m not sure. Logically speaking, I don’t have the ability to conceive anymore. After giving birth to the three of them, Dr. Kaye told me my womb was damaged, so I wouldn’t be able to get pregnant again.”
Sebastian remained silent.
“Besides, I was gravely injured after falling off the cliff. Every bone in my body was broken, and my organs were impaired as well. How could I still get pregnant then?”
Sasha described her health condition in detail.
As she spoke, the man’s gleeful and excited expression fell gradually.
He could not disguise his disappointment, but he said nothing and continued driving towards the hospital.
Half an hour later, Grayson was stupefied for a long while after meeting the couple and hearing the news.
“Can you still give birth?”
What did he mean?
Sebastian’s expression turned grim at once. “Just ignore him. Let’s head to the gynecology department.”
Then he took Sasha away.
After her explanation about her health condition, the couple did not have high hopes for the matter. Much to their surprise, Sasha’s medical report showed a positive result.
Sasha could not contain her astonishment, utterly nonplussed.
Sebastian could not understand the report. Seeing that she fell silent after reading the report, he questioned anxiously, “How is it? Tell me please.”
After a long while, she finally pulled herself together and turned to gaze at the man with teary eyes.
“I’m really pregnant… Sebby, you’re going to be a father again.”
Thud!
Everything in his hands dropped onto the floor.
His chest heaved vigorously. The man in his thirties was in seventh heaven, not knowing how to respond. Soon, tears of joy escaped the corners of his eyes.
“Really? I-I’m going to be a father. Darling, I’m going to be a father again!”
He wrapped his arms around her tightly.
Once the good news was confirmed, everyone at Oceanic Estate was thrilled.
After going through a time of adversity, they were delighted by the arrival of the little one, feeling that their lives were about to get better.
Even Shin at Aquene Temple sent them a self-made red amulet after hearing the news.
“Hmph!”
Jonathan snorted the second he saw it.
Sasha felt a little abashed, but Sebastian took the amulet and put it on for her gently.
“Since you’re pregnant, let’s not go to Miralaea. After some time, when things are fine here, I’ll get the three little ones back.”
“Yeah, you shouldn’t go. It’ll be tiring to travel when you’re pregnant. You need to rest well,” Jonathan chimed in immediately.
In the end, the Miralaea trip was postponed, and Sasha concentrated on taking good care of herself and the baby.
She was experienced in this, as she had been nursed well by Frederick back then in the Hayes Residence and had gone for prenatal check-up monthly, too.
“Sigh. How blessed are you! You have a prenatal check-up every month, unlike me when I was pregnant… Tsk, tsk…”
Sabrina could not help poking fun at Sasha when she saw the gynecologist visiting the latter so frequently.
Sasha was amused.
“Ms. Sabrina, no one stopped you from getting your monthly prenatal check-up. The father of your child did not even know about your pregnancy.”
Sabrina was rendered speechless, glaring at her.
In her arms, Jaena giggled loudly.
This little rascal!
The woman stomped away with the child in her arms.
Sasha shook her head helplessly.
After the examination, the gynecologist glanced at the sisters-in-law with envy.
“Mrs. Hayes, I really envy your relationship with Mrs. Jadeson. Despite the banters, you are really close to each other.”
“That’s how a family should be,” Sasha replied.
Afterward, she casually picked up a report beside the gynecologist.
“Wow, the reading is so high.”
The woman was perplexed when she saw one of the figures.
His Secret Lover Returning from the Dead Chapter 1256
A Warm Jade
The gynecologist quickly explained, “Yes, the reading is supposed to be higher during the first trimester, as the fetus has just implanted itself into the womb. Females’ hormones work differently. It’ll return to normal once your body gets used to it.”
Ah, I see.
Putting down the report, Sasha did not ask further.
In the following months, she stayed at Oceanic Estate. Sebastian rarely went out as well. It seemed like he wanted to keep her company throughout the entire pregnancy until the baby was born.
She was not worried about the chaos going on outside because she believed Sebastian must have made necessary arrangements.
Two months later, Sasha’s pregnancy had progressed to its third month.
“Darling, your dad and uncle want to visit us. Do you want them to come?”
“What? Can they come?”
Lying on a chair at the observation tower while eating fruit, Sasha sat up as soon as she heard him. Her eyes were gleaming brightly.
Right then, she felt a cramp in her belly.
She was stunned for a few seconds.
“Darling?”
Sebastian was peeling some fruit. Her sudden silence made him tilt his head to glance at her.
Sasha paused briefly, wanting to say something. Touching her belly, she found it perfectly fine, as if the cramp just now was only an illusion.
Perhaps it was just my imagination.
Sasha regained her composure. “Yeah. When are they coming? Can we really bring them here now?”
“Sure, don’t worry. As long as you’re happy, they can even stay here,” the man consoled her calmly.
Since he’s alright with it, I have nothing to worry about.
Sasha was beaming with joy.
Sebastian was indeed efficient. Two days later, Rufus, Jackson, and his wife were brought over to Oceanic Estate.
“Dad, Uncle Jackson, Aunt Sharon, I’m so glad to see you!”
Meeting her family after such a long time, she launched herself into her father’s arms with red-rimmed eyes.
Rufus’ eyes misted over as well.
However, he held himself back and only patted her shoulders because there were many people around them at this unfamiliar place.
“Alright, alright. You’re a grownup already. Stop acting like a child and be careful. Don’t forget you’re pregnant now.”
“Okay.”
Sasha let him go bashfully.
That night, they had a feast at Oceanic Estate, chattering away merrily. The dinner went on for hours.
Feeling fatigued because of her pregnancy, Sasha went upstairs to her room with Sharon after dinner.
“I can tell that you’re having a good life here. I’m happy for you.”
After exploring Oceanic Estate, Sharon noticed everyone treated Sasha well. A look of relief appeared on her face.
At her words, a wave of warm, fuzzy feeling washed over Sasha.
“Aunt Sharon, I’m sorry for making you worried previously.”
“What is there to worry about? As long as your husband is around, everything will be fine. Now that you’re pregnant, you must take great care of yourself, so he won’t be worried, alright?” Sharon reminded her.
Judging from her words about Sebastian, the woman was shrewd and sharp-witted.
Nevertheless, she seemed a little downhearted after speaking, as she was reminded that her daughter passed away because of Sebastian.
“Aunt Sharon, what are you thinking about?”
“Nothing. By the way, I’ve brought you a gift. It has been passed down for generations of the Blackwood family .”
With that, she fished out an item wrapped in a yellow towel.
Sasha’s curiosity was piqued.
It’s been passed down for generations? Why does she give it to me? I’m not one of the Blackwoods.
Meanwhile, Sharon had unwrapped it. On the yellow towel lay a long needle with a red stone at its tip.
“What’s this?”
“It’s a bloodstone from the nineteenth century. Have you heard of it?”
Sharon held it in her hand and pointed at a few words engraved on the item.
A bloodstone?
Sasha’s mouth hung open in disbelief.
Of course she had heard of it. Dr. Kaye told her there was an incredibly accurate method to detect poisons in the olden days using a bloodstone and a needle.
As soon as the needle was inserted into a human body, it could detect whether the person had been poisoned in no time.
Unfortunately, this technique was lost in history.
There were only a very limited number of these devices. In fact, no one in the modern era had seen it.
“Aunt Sharon, are you kidding me? How is this possible? It’s been lost in history for centuries. How did you get it?”
Sasha could not believe her eyes.
Sharon stared at her as though she were an idiot. “Why not? The Blackwood family has had it for a long time. Have you heard the rumor that it can detect poisons?”
“Mmm… Is that not the case?”
Sasha was embarrassed.
His Secret Lover Returning from the Dead Chapter 1257
The Jade Breaks
Sharon’s expression darkened. “What are you thinking? This is just a typical warm jade. Your uncle has depended on it all these years to stay alive.”
She then pried the mysterious rumored jade from the bloodstone in front of Sasha.
Sasha could only watch with eyes wide as saucers. By dismantling such an expansive and famous item, one got a blood jade and an average needle.
But, it was still special. Sasha observed the insides of the blood jade under the direct light and saw something seemed to be moving in a wave-like motion.
It was astonishing to witness the needle darkened immediately upon the removal of the blood jade, then regained its shine once the blood jade was embedded on it again.
“How extraordinary! From what material is it made of?”
“I don’t know about that. I didn’t do any research on it. I only know that your Mom had survived on it when she picked it up all those years ago. Then the same thing happened to your uncle.”
Sasha was stunned when Sharon suddenly brought up Heather.
It looks like my mother is no longer a taboo to her. Then did she know I’m aware of my mother’s matters?
Tears welled up in Sasha’s eyes.
She held onto the bloodstone and asked with tears in her eyes. “All of you knew my Mom wasn’t a Blackwood, so why do you still treat her so well?”
“Doctors should be kind. Isn’t that so?” Sharon stated indifferently.
Sasha couldn’t manage a reply.
She was the same with her patients since becoming a doctor.
In the end, Sasha kept the bloodstone merely because Heather used to wear it.
Rufus’ and Jackson’s families had stayed for another couple more days before they returned to Avenport.
Sasha and Sebastian had personally sent them to the airport.
Sasha was silent from the sadness of farewell, and her hands were unknowingly toying with the bloodstone on the entire car ride back.
Sebastian noticed her sad mood and comforted, “You don’t have to be so sad. They’re welcome to visit anytime they want.”
Before Sasha could reply, she observed the bloodstone in her hand was not as shiny as before.
Is my eyes playing tricks on me?
Or has my hands dirtied it?
She immediately took out a piece of tissue and started wiping it.
However, she noticed it was still the same despite her numerous attempts. In the heat of the moment, she pried the blood jade from the bloodstone.
As a result, the needle in her hand turned black swiftly.
The atmosphere within the car returned to silence again.
“What’s wrong?” Sebastian asked when he noticed she sat there unmoving with the needle in hand.
He didn’t get a response.
What happened? She seems shocked. She has been sitting there holding something in her hand for over a minute now.
Worry thoughts began to fill his mind. He instantly stopped the car on the side of the street, then reached for the thing in her hand.
I often see her toying with this when Rufus and the others were around, but I thought it was just some new toy she found.
So I didn’t pay much attention to it.
Now that I take a close look at it, I noticed it was something from the nineteenth century.
The blood jade wasn’t artificial but formed naturally. Else there wouldn’t be any crystals moving in it. These crystals are the best barrier there is to block radiation.
However, there seems to be a crack. If it’s cracked, it’s not worth any money.
And as for this black thing…
Sebastian frowned as he held it up and scrutinized it. “Are you sad because of this? Don’t worry. I can buy you a new one. It will be even better than this.”
He thought she was sad because the blood jade had cracked, so he wanted to cheer her up by buying her a new one.
But once the words were out of his mouth, she turned to stare intently at him.
Her emotions were turbulent in her gaze, shocking him.
“You-”
“I want to use the washroom.”
Sasha snapped out of her thoughts and retracted her gaze.
After a long silence, he started the car and continued forward.
Well, she is pregnant. The pregnancy handbook did state pregnant women need to use the washroom more often than regular people.
Moreover, if she is feeling down because of the blood jade, I can buy her a few new ones later.
Not thinking much about it, he accelerated until he reached a rest stop.
Before he could ask if she needed company, Sasha had urgently gotten off once the car came to a stop.
“There’s no need. Wait for me here.”
She turned around and left.
Sebastian’s temper spiked at her actions. He quickly removed his key from the ignition and followed her.
She’s a pregnant woman. Does she still consider herself an average person?
His Secret Lover Returning from the Dead Chapter 1258
Check It Out
Sebastian thoughtfully went into the convenience store to buy some snacks and milk then waited for her outside the washroom.
Oblivious to him, while he was waiting outside, Sasha felt as though she had dropped to the deepest layer of hell.
Her change in emotion a while ago wasn’t due to the darkening of the needle. It was due to a tugging sensation she felt in her stomach.
Then, she felt something flow out of her.
What is that?
She panicked.
She was a doctor.
She urgently dashed into the washroom.
She held her breath as she unzipped her pants and sat on the toilet seat.
But, to her dismay, she saw red on her underwear. She knew it wasn’t a good sign despite the meager amount.
Her entire body started shivering as though she was surrounded by a blizzard.
How did it came to this?
She sat there unmoving for a very long time.
She was feeling lost.
She was a doctor, and it wasn’t her first baby. She had taken the necessary precautions and had refrained from overexertion as well as control her food intake.
I’ve done all that so why is this happening?
Is it because my body is too weak?
It could be.
I was having trouble getting pregnant. But I have been blessed with a baby in the end. I knew it would be difficult for me to smoothly deliver my baby with my body being in such a weak state.
Hence the situation I’m in right now.
After combing through her thoughts, she felt a sense of ease. She promptly cleaned up then exited the washroom.
“You took a while in there… Is everything okay?”
Sebastian, who had waited very long outside, immediately approached her with concern when he saw her coming out of the washroom.
At that moment, she felt like bursting into tears.
Noticing his anxiety, a crazy thought came to her mind. She wanted to tell him that their baby was about to leave them soon.
However, she kept that urge in check and merely stared at him with glassy eyes.
No. I can’t tell him now.
It’s not confirmed yet. I can’t do this to him.
Most of his anxiety and worries are due to me and my baby.
I don’t want to see the hope in his eyes lost. I don’t want to take that away from him.
“I felt a little dizzy just now, so it took me a while.”
“Dizzy?”
He was soon distracted by her excuse.
“Why? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere? Let’s go to the hospital.” He was about to bridal-carry her to the car.
She immediately stopped him before he could.
“No. Calm down. It’s probably from low blood sugar. It’s common among pregnant women. Why don’t you buy me something sweet? I’ll feel better right away.”
She acted cute by tugging on his sleeve.
Sebastian heart softened at her cute act.
Something sweet?
She can pick whatever confectionery she wants after I carry her all the way there.
In the end, he bridal-carried her to the convenience store, eliciting envious stares from women around.
It was already evening when they returned to Jadeborough.
“Sebby, you must have something planned in the evening, so go and deal with it. I’m going to take a nap.” Sasha purposely said so once she got home.
I need an excuse to go to the hospital without him noticing.
It was good that he wasn’t suspicious at all. He merely nodded and proceeded downstairs. Not long after, she saw Devin and him leaving in his car.
She huffed out a relieved sigh, then quickly reached for her purse, preparing to leave for the hospital.
“Where’re you going? Didn’t you just got back?”
Unexpectedly, Sabrina came up with her child in her arms. She was puzzled as to why Sasha was leaving so soon after the latter had only got back.
Why didn’t I see her drop by so often before? So why is she always here after having a baby?
Sasha halted resignedly. “I’m going to the hospital. I just got a call from the doctor asking me to go for a check-up.”
“Again? Are you made from glass? Didn’t you have one not long ago? Has Sebastian lost his mind? You’re pregnant, not sick. Does he need to be so anxious?”
“I guess I’m blessed,” Sasha purposely rebutted.
She then took her purse and left.
Although she hasn’t caught on yet, I know she’d bring it up with Sebastian if I didn’t distract her. He might just find out the truth then.
Sasha arrived at the General Hospital with much nervousness. She went directly to Grayson’s office instead of the gynecologist.
“Dr. Wallen, I’m feeling restless, so I came to see you.”
After giving him the rundown of everything that happened, she straightforwardly told him the reason for her visit.

Mentally Prepare Yourself
Grayson frowned at her story.
Yet, he withheld any comment he had. Instead, he decided to examine Sasha first before telling her anything.
Sasha had no choice but to go for the examination first.
The result was, as she had expected, threatened miscarriage.
“Dr. Wallen…”
Sasha’s face was as white as a sheet seeing the result. She didn’t even have the strength to finish her sentence.
Grayson’s expression turned somber.
“Actually, when you came in the other day, I was confused. I’m aware of your body’s condition. Under normal circumstances, there was no way you could get pregnant again, but you did.”
The creases between his brows deepened.
Sasha’s stomach plummeted at his expression. Her fingers had clenched so tightly into a fist that they appeared white.
“Let’s do another whole body check-up to see what’s going on with your body. Don’t worry too much. Let’s discuss once we have the results.”
After a long silence, Grayson finally suggested.
Sasha had no other choice but to agree.
That’s right. It will be best to do a whole body check-up.
When Sasha was undergoing her check-up, her phone rang.
“Hello, Sebby.”
“You’re at the hospital again. Do you need me to accompany you?”
When Sebastian got back to Oceanic Estate, he heard from Sabrina that Sasha had gone to the hospital again. Feeling worried, he called her immediately.
Sasha was anxious at his suggestion. “No, there’s no need. I’m almost done; had a chat with Dr. Wallen when I bumped into him earlier.”
Sebastian replied, “That’s good then. Let me know when you’re coming back.”
Hearing his agreement, Sasha entered the examination room.
The rim of her eyes was red as she went in.
More than an hour had passed since the check-up. Worried that Sebastian would be suspicious she took so long, she quickly looked for Grayson.
Luckily, Grayson was waiting for her results in his office.
However, he was already going through the report when Sasha got there. His expression was somber.
“Dr. Wallen, you-”
“Sasha, there’s indeed something wrong with your current condition. By right, estrogen levels should increase upon your pregnancy. Looking at your stats, however, the estrogen levels didn’t increase but decreased instead.”
Grayson pointed toward the report on his monitor.
Sasha was stunned.
She rushed to the monitor to look.
It was true, the report had shown a decrease in her estrogen levels. Not only that, her ultrasound reports had many abnormalities as well.
“It resembles a withered flower.”
Grayson concluded based on her results.
Exactly. A withered flower.
But, since the flower was withered, how did she get pregnant then? Isn’t that weird?
Sasha pondered as she stared at the report in her hands.
Soon, Grayson caught a glimpse of the newly issued report and was stunned by the image on it.
“How did your cells end up like this?”
“What?”
Sasha turned to look at his question.
She was thunderstruck at the image as well.
The test was primarily to examine Sasha’s main body functions. So her cellular conditions were especially important.
Instead of healthy cells, she saw they were perforated. Although tiny, it was still shocking.
“How could this happen? What does this mean?”
“Not sure. But one thing is for sure. There’s something wrong with your body. That’s why you’re showing symptoms of miscarriage,” answered Grayson.
However, there was something he omitted from her. Her condition was the exact replica of Devin’s when he first returned.
The only difference was his cells had started to recover by then.
Sasha’s cells were undergoing apoptosis.
Could all these be related?
Grayson could feel a sheen of cold sweat forming on his back.
Before Grayson could conclude, Sasha had to depart for fear the time taken would be too long. Grayson had agreed to inform her once the final results were out.
Sasha went back to Oceanic Estate.
“How is it? Is the baby okay?”
Sebastian had been waiting for her all the while. Seeing she finally return, he went up to her and gently caressed her stomach.
There was unrestrained anticipation and happiness in his eyes.
Sasha noticed his feelings and felt a stabbing pain in her heart.
“Everything is fine. Don’t worry about it.”
“Great. Let’s have dinner then. I made some clam chowder for you.”

When You Cannot Win
Sebastian gently patted Sasha’s head as they headed for the dining room.
The entire dinner was difficult for Sasha. She didn’t have any appetite and was overcome with despair that she wanted to be alone with her thoughts and fears.
Looking at Sebastian, she had to put on a happy front for him so that he wouldn’t notice something was wrong.
That night was the most agonizing night ever for Sasha.
The next morning, she received a call from Grayson. Intending to avoid Sebastian, she intentionally stepped out pretending to go check on Jaena and went downstairs with her phone to take the call.
“Hello?”
“Sasha, I need you to take a deep breath and mentally prepare yourself. After discussing with a few radiologists, we have all concluded that you’ve come into contact with some radioactive source.”
“Radioactive source?”
Sasha’s face paled instantly.
Radioactive source?
When had I come into contact with one? I can’t recall.
Grayson’s next words had triggered her memory.
“Try to recall if you had come into contact with one when Eddie had taken you. His research is about nuclear weapons. Devin had almost died from his nuclear bomb.”
He waited for a few beats, but there was not a single response from Sasha.
At that time, Sasha’s grasp on the phone tightened. Darkness started to engulf her sight.
How could I have forgotten about it?
She didn’t know if the old Durant residence had any of those radioactive sources lying around, but she remembered she was strapped with a nuclear explosive that day.
She recalled she had suffered pain in her entire back and chest.
If underneath the old Durant residence were covered with those dangerous explosives, then it wouldn’t be surprising for her body to be in tatters.
Also, radioactive materials had another terrifying effect. Other than causing harm to humans, they could cause some failed organs to recover their functions to a certain level.
That was the reason cancer patients undergo radioactive therapy.
Then, for her, to had gotten pregnant when she shouldn’t have been able to.
Sasha staggered backward. She would’ve fallen to the ground if it wasn’t for the hands catching her.
“Don’t you know you’re pregnant? You should be more careful.”
It was Sabrina. She was dropping by for a visit with her child.
Sasha tried suppressing her emotions, hoping Sabrina couldn’t catch it. Alas, it was too late. Sabrina had caught a glimpse of Sasha’s pale face and tearful eyes.
“What happened? Why are you crying? I didn’t mean to scold you. I just…”
Sabrina nervously explained, she thought Sasha was crying because of her harsh tone.
But Sasha suddenly wrapped her hands over her head and sat on the floor.
She started crying, but she was holding back her voice.
However, Sabrina could see Sasha’s flowing tears dripping onto the floor, forming tiny puddles.
Sabrina was taken aback by Sasha’s reaction.
Not knowing what to do, she scanned her surrounding for anyone around to help her. Finally, she bent down with her child in her arms to comfort Sasha, seeing as no one was around to help.
“Don’t cry. Tell me what’s wrong. Was it Sebastian? Don’t worry. I’ll go and teach him a lesson now.”
“No!”
Sasha stretched her hand out to stop Sabrina from leaving.
“No. It’s not Sebastian. Sab, I might not be able to deliver this baby safely…” she said truthfully with tears streaming down her face.
Sabrina was stunned by her words.
“Why not? What happened?”
“Because I don’t have it in me…” Tears continued to flow from Sasha’s eyes as she blurted out everything Grayson had told her.
Sasha merely wanted to express her sadness to someone.
She felt lost and didn’t know what to do. She wanted to tell Sebastian but fearing it would be too huge a blow to him, she stopped herself.
Also, he was in a tug of war with Eddie. She was afraid he would lose control if he knew it was all because of that ahole. He might fall into that ahole’s trap if he lost control of his emotions.
Sasha was certain it was all that a**hole’s plan.
Sabrina was stunned yet again at Sasha’s revelation.
She hadn’t thought such a huge problem was brewing beneath the peace and quiet at home.
“That ahole! How could he have treated you with so much cruelty? He’s not even a fking human for doing that. He couldn’t win against Sebastian, so he decided to use such a method to ruin him instead?”
“What?”
Sasha turned to Sabrina dumbfoundedly.
Ruin?
Oh My Gosh! My mind is just a mess. How have I not thought about that?
That’s right. That f**ker had knowingly used high-intensity nuclear explosives so I could get pregnant. When delight swelled within Sebastian with the news of a new addition to the family, he would take me and my baby’s lives.
Wouldn’t that kill Sebastian’s spirit?
Devin had said Sebastian had almost lost his mind when the museum she was in had exploded. What will happen to him if I really did die along with the child he had anticipated and loved.
Can he take it?
He might just lose it on the spot.
