Kurt held on for a few moments, then he loosened his grip. Duncan quickly took in big gulps of air, as if he had just gotten out of certain death.
He knew Kurt was different from him and that Kurt wasn't just another distinctive child Jonathan had found, but Duncan never expected Kurt to take him out so easily. After all, Duncan had spent a lot of time in the military.
Ian had finally arrived. He was staring at Duncan, his face as pale as a ghost. “Who are you? Tell me who you really are.”
He was hurt by the sudden betrayal, but even at this point, he was still clenching his fists and asking Duncan about his true identity. He wanted to know what the truth was.
That was how Sebastian's son should act. No matter what kind of situation he was in, he could grasp the most important aspect at the most crucial moment.
Duncan was pinned down, and he looked at Ian. Suddenly, he forced a sad, depressing smile. “I'm sorry, Ian. I lied to you.”
Kurt was standing right beside Duncan. He could see Ian clenching his fists as tightly as he could, trying not to go on a rampage.

Duncan nodded. “Yes, my mother. Her name is Felicity Durant. She helped Eddie make those nuclear wave weapons. I did everything to get into the base and befriended Ian for this,” he answered honestly, and his voice was calm.
However, after he said his answer, Kurt and Ian were both equally shocked, and they stared dumbly at Duncan. He's Felicity's son? That's impossible. Felicity's son was Isaac. He loved Sabrina, and he even died for her in that explosion. So what's the deal with this guy?
“Do you think we are fools? How is it possible that Felicity still has a son? Her son is long dead.”
“That was the son she had with Alfred. I'm not Alfred's child. My father is Eddie.” He smiled sardonically as he dropped another bombshell.
Kurt was shocked, and Ian's eyes were the size of saucepans. For a long, long time, he couldn't even say anything about how dumbfounded he was.

They called Devin and Jonathan. The moment they got the news, they came here at full speed and took Duncan away with them.
Ian was quiet the whole way through. After Duncan was taken away, he turned around and went to his room.
Vivian asked, “Is Ian all right? Mommy, he must have been hurt badly. We have to try and cheer him up.”
Vivian was worried about her brother, and Sasha was worried about her son too.
Nobody knew Ian better than she did. She could tell that he had changed a lot over the last three years, and she was delighted. But now, he's betrayed by his own friend.
She came to his room a moment later. “Are you all right, Little Ian?”
“I'm all right, Mommy.” Ian was sitting in his chair, staring outside the window. He looked depressed, but the moment he saw his mother, he cheered himself up and said he was fine.
Sasha was heartbroken seeing her son like that. She came in and took a chair, then she sat down beside him.
She started talking to him gently, “Don't feel sad about it, Little Ian. Duncan didn't betray you. He just didn't have a choice. In the end, he told you the real reason your father fell sick, and he even found the black stone for us.”
She had learned psychology before to treat Sebastian's illness, so she knew exactly why her son was sad. He couldn't accept the fact that his longtime friend would betray his trust and their friendship.

“Yeah.” Ian's eyes shone brightly, much to Sasha's delight.
She quickly continued, “Once your uncle and great-grandpa get to the bottom of this, he'll be fine if they know he didn't hurt you. Maybe they'll keep him, and he can stay with you then.”
Sasha was painting a beautiful future for her son. She thought of the same thing as well too. Duncan was only sixteen, and he was willing to reveal the real reason for Sebastian's disease and find the key to his treatment. Because of that alone, Sasha knew he wasn't an evil person.
He could be saved, and the Jadesons weren't vengeful. Even though Duncan was Eddie's son, they would give him a second chance if he truly repented.
Ian finally cheered up after hearing his mother's words. Vivian and Kurt heaved a sigh of relief after seeing him get over his depression.
The youngsters went back to Oceanic Estate to wait for the news that very day. Matteo, who was still in the military, quickly came back after he heard the news so that he could keep his brother company.

Kurt was quiet, since he didn't know how to answer that question either. However, he felt that Sebastian must know how to handle the matter once he woke up because he was a great man after all.
“Let's dig up some black stones, Vivi. We'll do everything we can so your father will wake up sooner.”
“Okay!” Vivian wiped her tears away and agreed to it without hesitation.
While everyone, including Sasha and the Jadesons, was worried about Ian, they didn't realize that two kids were missing. Vivian and Kurt sneaked back to the mountain, and they were determined to get the black stones.
When they told Shin about their plan, he adamantly refused, “You guys want to get the black stones? No way. They're in the underground lab, and do you know how dangerous that place is? Nobody has been there before. You might put yourself in great danger.”

Matteo was the big brother in this case. He looked at his sister and the young man who was following him, and he thumped his chest. He wanted them to listen to him, and he would protect them no matter what happened.
Vivian looked at her brother with admiration, while Kurt only smiled and said nothing.
A short while later, they arrived at the lab. Shin went to open a cabinet and took out a few hazmat suits. “The radiation is powerful here. Wear this. Someone will take you kids down there in a minute.”

The three of them quickly wore the suit, and not long after that, they heard the sound of bells ringing. They looked up and saw a young lady in blue traditional attire.

Vivian was confused, and so was Matteo, since he didn't know anything about the girl.
Kurt, however, was calm. Karl had told him everything. Judging from the clothes the girl was wearing, he realized that she might be a descendant of the aborigines whom Eddie had hired to build the underground base.
“Sure, Master,” the girl named Lucy agreed readily.
She approached the trio in hazmat suits, and she smiled at them. “Hello. I'm Lucy, an aborigine here.”
“Hi, I'm Vivian.”
“And I'm Matteo.”
The siblings introduced themselves happily, and Matteo even extended his hand to the girl who came all the way to help them.
Lucy blushed, and she shook his hand. Then she looked at Kurt, who was still quiet.
Vivian's patience was running thin. Since their guide had come, she urged, “Let's go inside. It's getting late.”
Lucy looked at Kurt one last time, then she followed Vivian inside. Hm, he didn't even look at me for once the whole time. What an odd person.
They finally came to their destination in the end. Shin, who was worried that they might get in trouble, sent a few fighters to stand sentry outside the place.
The lab was built upon the waterfall's source, and that was why Duncan noticed the black stone's element in the water. If they wanted to get the black stones, the only way to do that was to drill through the underground.
“There's actually a natural cavern here. It's been here for hundreds of millions of years. The base is right above it, and the waterfall's source is below it,” Lucy explained the moment she came in.
Matteo quickly responded, “So that means the black stones should be on the cave's ceiling, and that's where we're heading, right?”
“Yes, but it's dangerous. You guys saw how big the waterfall is. If you fall down by accident, the stalactites will pierce you, and you'll be swept away by the current as well. That's going to be really bad. The waterfall's right out there, and it's really high up. Fall, and you will perish,” Lucy emphasized.
When she finished explaining, Vivian blanched. “T-That's really dangerous, Matt. What should we do?”
“It's fine. I came with my tools, and you'd better not underestimate me. I trained a lot in the camp, and I've become awesome.” He calmed Vivian down just like he did when they were kids, then he spread his tools out.
Kurt noticed it, and he came over as well. “What's the plan?”
“Huh?” Matteo looked up at Kurt. What's the plan? I'll be going down and getting the black stones. It's not something a kid like you can do anyway.
Matteo smiled and gave Kurt a grappling hook. “Be a good chap. Find a sturdy spot and latch this onto it. After that, just keep an eye on my sister.”
A few moments of silence later, Kurt went away to find a place to latch the hook onto.

Matteo acted fast and finished packing all the stuff in a few minutes. He was getting ready to take Lucy down the hole.
“Matt, please be careful.”
Vivian was worried about him. Before he left, she ran over to him and reminded him to be careful. Her eyes beamed with tears.
Matteo reached his hand and tapped her nose playfully.
“Okay. Don't worry. I will be back soon.” After saying that, he led Lucy, and they both jumped down a hole in the training base.
At that instant, the base became utterly quiet.
It was usual for young people their age to be anxious about dealing with serious matters as such. Plus, it sounded very dangerous based on the information they got.
After Matteo left, Vivian kept guarding the hole. She did not even dare to breathe loudly or shift her gaze.
Nevertheless, there was no movement for a long while.

She realized there was no one behind her.
She climbed out of the hole and started searching around the base.
Still, she saw no one there.

She heaved a sigh of relief. She walked back to the hole which Matteo went down. While waiting for him, she kept an eye at the entrance.

With that, Kurt reached the underground.
The first thing he heard was the loud roaring sound of the water current. His heart skipped a beat as it sent shivers down his spine.
With fully-gloved hands, Kurt tightly held on to the steel cable that was wrapped around his body.
He grabbed his torchlight and gazed upward, trying to find the crystals.
Just then, he thought he heard a female scream. “Ahh....”
“Lucy!”
A moment later, Matteo's shout rang out too.
Upon hearing that, Kurt grabbed the steel cable and intended to swing over to see what was happening. However, something unexpected took him by surprise.
“Argh!”
Another tragic scream reverberated around the area.
Kurt was bewildered to see a human figure get thrown out of the mist. The figure looked like a tiny ant compared to the tall wave.
