Ch. 1991..1998: [Finale]
Returning from the Dead His Secret Lover Chapter 1991-Before Ian could say anything, someone in the queue behind them beat him to it. “Peaches? Is your wife pregnant too?” It was a man, and his eyes as he looked at Ian were filled with pity. Ian remained silent, and so did Susan.
The man continued, “Listen, brother. When a woman gets pregnant, her food preferences will change drastically. My wife had me buy her barbequed food in the middle of the night!” “N-No! I’m not! We’re—”
“It’s fine. You don’t have to explain. I know, I know. But then again, what you crave is just strange. It’s even harder to get it than my wife’s barbecued food. I have no idea how your husband is going to satisfy your weird cravings.”
In that split second, Susan’s cheeks flushed, and she desperately wanted the ground to swallow her whole.
On the other hand, Ian, whom Susan was hugging, showed a massive interest in the topic. In fact, his usual cold and emotionless eyes lit up at the mention of this. “So that’s how women behave when they’re pregnant?”
“Yeah. That’s how they all behave.” “Then what should I do?”
“Well, there’s nothing much you can do. All you can do is satisfy her needs. Brother, the hardest is the first three months. It’s like your wife is a completely different entity. Her preferences will change entirely, and instead of grumbling and complaining, what you should do is do everything you can to make her happy.”
At this moment, Susan raised her head, only to see her man typing something on his phone. “W-What are you doing? Hold up! Why did you take out your phone? What are you typing?”
Ian lowered his head calmly and glanced at her. “These are all talks of experience. I should write them down…”
Susan was rendered speechless. This is absolutely absurd! Two hours later, they finally registered and received their marriage certificate. Susan immediately dragged Ian away with the certificates in her hands upon receiving them.
The long wait had been agonizing. With the certificates received, it was now time for the wedding.
The wedding was set to take place on New Year’s Eve. According to Shin from Aquene Temple, that particular day was the best day for a wedding, and Sasha was extraordinarily happy to learn that.
The night before the wedding, after finishing her work, Sasha looked at the man lying in bed and asked hopefully, “Darling, since Dad has picked the best day for us, do you think he will attend the wedding by then?”
The man didn’t show much of a reaction. He continued reading the book in his hands and said placidly, “He can do whatever he wants.”
Sasha sighed inwardly and did not dwell on the matter. There were so many things going on right now, so she figured she had to rest well to manage the wedding properly the next day.
Little did she know that after she fell asleep, the man beside her put his book aside and reached out for his phone. The phone cover was cold, which meant that he had not touched it for some time.
However, as he unlocked his phone, his handsome face darkened when he realized there were no new notifications. With a flick of his finger, he locked his phone and hurled it back to where it was.
An uneventful night ensued. The next day, the sound of fireworks rang out from Oceanic Estate before the sky brightened, waking everyone up from their sleep.
Solomon and Ichika’s twin babies were the first to react as they started crying. Hearing that, Ichika could only wake up and calm her babies.
Solomon did not stay idle as he went to get some milk for his sons. “What’s wrong? Did the fireworks startle them?”
Solomon looked at his mother-in-law and asked about his eldest son. “Yeah, but it’s okay. I’ll go get them some milk. Oh, Mom, did you see Yoel? He wasn’t in his room when I checked on him just now. Where did he go so early in the morning?”
Hearing that, Aoi flashed a huge smile. “He’s the page boy for the wedding, and Nat’s the flower girl. Vivian took them out. They’re putting on makeup as we speak.”
The prestigious lady who had been shackled by her country’s conservative etiquette was slowly setting her true nature free at the mention of her little grandson.
Solomon chuckled when he captured the woman’s every expression on her face before he returned to his room with the milk bottles.
While the babies were being comforted, the Hayeses who stayed in the training ground departed eagerly as soon as they heard the fireworks. They departed to their destination not as guests, but as helpers.
Saul ordered, “Ladies, go look for Sasha and see if there’s anything you can help with.” “Got it,” the ladies of the Hayes family nodded. With that, they swarmed toward the hall in search of Sasha and offered their help.
As for Saul and the other men, they headed toward the wedding venue, for their help was much more needed over there. After all, the wedding would be the largest and grandest wedding the entire Jadeborough had ever seen.
Returning from the Dead His Secret Lover Chapter 1992-Sasha, who had been observing everything, was deeply moved. After helping everyone to settle down, she arrived at the quietest and most elegant bamboo garden where she could admire the sea. She found her father, Rufus, who lived there.
“Dad, I’d like to give you a task.” “What is it?” Rufus, who had already changed into a vibrant purple satin coat, lifted his head and glanced at his daughter.
Sasha walked over to help him button his coat and said, “I’d like you to pay Aquene Temple a visit. Sebastian doesn’t talk about this matter much, but I know, deep down, he still wants to bring his father over.”
“Right?” Rufus was stunned. Truth was, the matter had crossed his mind, but he did not think it was appropriate of him to bring it up.
“All right. I’ll make a trip to the temple, but Sasha… I think you should prepare for the worst. His father is a monk. It’s their rule not to participate in these worldly things”
“I know. That’s why I’m asking you to try. Even if he didn’t come, a call or something would be great, too. Don’t you agree?” Sasha asked, her eyes sparkling with tears.
Rufus fell silent when he heard that. After some time, he left Oceanic Estate with Lance and began their journey toward Aquene Temple.
In the end, Rufus still accepted the task and left for the temple. Of course, neither Rufus nor Sasha told Sebastian about it.
At eleven o’clock in the morning, the much anticipated grand wedding finally kicked off at a famous five-star hotel owned by Hayes Corporation in Royal Square of Jadeborough.
“Dear guests, family, and friends, thank you for coming to the Jadeson family’s wedding that’s being watched by everyone in our country. Let us welcome the patriarch of the family to give a speech.”
Following the emcee’s words, everyone saw a handsome man in a suit walking up the stage in the middle of the square, which was brightly lit with spotlights.
He was still as handsome as ever.
The only thing different about him was that he had become more solemn after his seniority had risen by a generation. He had the charisma of an elegant and mature man.
Sebastian, also known as Yariel, would forever be the greatest being of the country and an inimitable form of faith in everyone’s hearts.
“Hello, everyone. Thank you for coming to my son’s wedding. Now that I look back, the Jadesons have never held such a grand event. I hope everyone here can enjoy such glorious moments in the future. I believe the sun will shine brightly on everyone.”
As he stood before everyone, his calm voice and encouraging words filled everyone’s hearts with emotions.
Immediately after, a deafening applause sounded.
Almost everyone at the scene teared up.
The words “the sun will shine brightly on everyone” echoed in everyone’s mind.
That had always been Sebastian’s belief. Perhaps he had never imagined he could one day be so powerful when he was still the president of Hayes Corporation.
Then again, fate seemed to be predestined most of the time, and Sebastian was born for the world.
Soon, the wedding began.
Ian, also dressed in a suit, stood on the stage. Tears started welling in his eyes when he saw a beautiful woman in a wedding gown being led toward him slowly.
Never in his wildest dreams did he imagine they would be married one day.
Watching as she finally arrived before him, Ian pulled out a wedding ring, the only ring one could custom-make once in a lifetime.
He uttered unknowingly, “You can’t run away from me now.”
Susan did not respond.
Hot tears filled her eyes as she stared at Ian, who was smiling sillily. Her heart was instantly filled with a warm sensation.
She had such a huge lump in her throat that she could not say a word.
“Mr. Ian Hayes, do you take Ms. Susan Limmer as your lawfully wedded wife? Do you promise to love her in sickness and in health, for poorer or for richer, and—”
“I do!”
The officiant was taken aback. He then continued, “And Ms. Susan Limmer—”
“I do. I, Susan Limmer, will only belong to Ian Hayes no matter what happens,” Susan choked out after lifting her head.
Then, under everyone’s gaze, she stood on her toes and kissed Ian on the lips.
No one knew how much she loved that man.
Everyone at the wedding cheered happily.
“This is so touching… I’m going to cry…” Vivian was so touched by the scene that fat tears began rolling down her cheeks.
As soon as those words left her mouth, the person beside her pulled her hand and stuffed it into his pocket.
“There are six hundred and eighty-nine days left!”
“Huh?” Vivian glanced at the man beside her, dumbfounded.
Six hundred and eighty-nine? What’s that supposed to mean?
When she snapped out of her daze, she noticed the solemn gaze in Kurt’s eyes, which made her shudder.
“K-Kurt, what’s wrong? Are you angry? Haha, I was just joking. You treat me well, too. I—mmm!”
Suddenly, she could not breathe.
Kurt had, surprisingly, forced a kiss on her in front of so many people.
This is too much!
Returning from the Dead His Secret Lover Chapter 1993-The wedding ceremony went on for two hours before the feast began. Seeing that, Sasha went looking for her father hurriedly, wanting to get some updates on the situation. To her dismay, the wives of influential people gathered around her the moment she turned around.
“Congratulations, Mrs. Jadeson! Now that you’ve become a mother-in-law, you’ll become a grandmother soon.”
“That’s right. You’re so blessed, Mrs. Jadeson.” “Congratulations!” Sasha had no choice but to entertain the group of women.
Of course, Sebastian was busier. However, he was not greeting the guests. Instead, he was pushing Jonathan around, accompanying the latter to meet the people he wanted to talk to.
Jonathan was more than delighted by the arrangement. Since Sebastian’s hands were full, he could only let another family member handle the rest, and that person was Devin.
“Lieutenant Colonel Jadeson, the guests’ seats are there. Apart from the bride’s family, which VIP guests would you like to be specially arranged?”
“The Hayes, Wand, and the Minamoto family. Make sure you get them seated properly,” Devin instructed swiftly. The emcee immediately left to carry out the task. Devin wanted to check on other matters when someone suddenly ran toward him.
“Hubby, this is bad. M-My uncle and his family are here.” “Who?” Devin looked at his anxious wife, unable to follow her words promptly. Uncle?
Devin looked confused. He did not understand what was going on until he saw someone leading two guests over who claimed to be from the Soprano family. The Soprano family…
Sebastian, too, noticed them half an hour later. He was standing in the private room of the hotel when they showed up in front of him. There was a sense of familiarity in the blurred memories in his mind.
The elderly man, who had similar facial features as Sebastian, revealed something with trembling hands and said guiltily, “Sebastian, your aunt and I know we don’t deserve to attend your son’s wedding, nor do we have the right to appear with you again. That’s why we’re only here to give you something.”
He was Cory Soprano, Sebastian and Sabrina’s uncle.
The Soprano family was indeed responsible for what had happened to Frieda back then. Jonathan had been furious when he found out that Shin was in love with Frieda, and he had gone looking for the Soprano family.
After that, the Soprano family used all kinds of methods to stop Frieda from seeing Shin.
During that time, Frieda was determined to be with Shin. She even took her household register secretly to get their marriage registered. As soon as that was done, Frieda was kicked out of the house. She did not even have a shelter when she was pregnant. If it had not been for Frederick, she would have died with Sebastian on the streets.
That was why Frederick had stopped keeping in touch with the Soprano family.
Sebastian’s expression was terrifyingly frosty. In the end, it was Devin who accepted the gift from Cory. He realized it was a letter and a gold-inlaid medal.
“This is…”
“That’s the letter my sister wrote to my father. She wanted him to accept Shin,” Cory lamented, gazing at his nephew with red-rimmed eyes. “We weren’t planning to show up at the wedding today, but Mr. Wand gave me a call saying your father has been trapped in the guilt of your mother’s tragic death and is unable to forgive himself. That’s why we wanted to give this to you today.”
Sebastian was stunned.
It’s my father-in-law who called him?
Finally, Sebastian took the two items and walked into the lounge alone.
What would a girl in her twenties, who wanted to marry a man, write to her father? What else can it be apart from telling her father how much she loved that man? How sweet could their relationship be to convince her father?
Sebastian opened the letter. He did not have high hopes, nor did he have any intentions to study the letter properly until he read a specific sentence.
It read: Dad, you always say the women of the Soprano family are different. We can’t give birth to healthy boys. That’s why you made my sister get an abortion whenever she was pregnant. But Shin says fate is meant to be broken. Since you’re unwilling to do it, Shin will be the first. Dad, I’m afraid of hell, but I’d rather go to hell if I’m faced with a cage that’ll imprison me for the rest of my life. However, Shin isn’t the way to hell. He’s my hope. Dad, I won’t regret it no matter what.
For a long while, Sebastian stood there with his head lowered to look at the yellowed letter, totally lost in a daze.
He did not move or say anything, looking as if his soul had left his body.
Suddenly, he seemed to picture a crazy woman running toward him like a child while calling him Sebby.
“Mom…” he muttered through gritted teeth as if the word pained him.
Hot tears fell onto the letter.
That was the exact scene Sasha saw the moment she stepped into the room after hearing the news. Immediately, she felt a pang in her heart, and she hurried over to hold him in her embrace.
“Don’t be sad. Let’s take this to meet Dad, all right? He’s been waiting for this.”
Sebastian eventually nodded.
Returning from the Dead His Secret Lover Chapter 1994-It was evening by the time Sasha and Sebastian arrived at Aquene Temple. The sudden change of environment from a lively wedding to a quiet forest made it hard for them to adapt.
There was absolute silence until the sound of the bell rang out in the forest at night. Dong!
“We’re here.” Hearing the loud yet melodious bell, Sasha alighted from the car, her eyes glinting with hope as she stared at the temple in the distance.
Monks of the modern world were no longer as strict as they were in the past. The public would not judge them strictly, either.
Hence, Sasha had been holding on to the hope that Shin would descend the mountain with them and reunite with his family.
However, when the couple approached Shin, who was meditating in the main hall of the temple, with the letter and the medal, he stared at the items fixedly for some time.
Following that, he got up and entered the meditation room. “Darling?” Sasha turned to the man behind her when she saw that.
Right then, she realized Sebastian was also watching the retreating figure as if he was waiting and pondering about something. At last, he said nothing and merely watched Shin walk away.
That night, Sasha and Sebastian stayed the night at the temple.
It was the same meditation room. This time, however, there was an air conditioner installed in the room. The modern machine looked out of place in the vintage-looking meditation room.
Sasha enjoyed the warmth of the room very much.
However, she was so anxious that she kept opening the door throughout the night while wrapped in a blanket. There was no movement out there and she saw nothing.
Seeing Sasha standing in front of the door, Sebastian, who was lying on the bed, mumbled unhappily, “What are you looking at? Come back here and get some sleep. It’s cold out there.”
Sasha had no choice but to shut the door.
When she returned to the bed and snuggled into Sebastian’s embrace, she hugged his slim waist and murmured, “Darling, do you think Dad will come back with us tomorrow morning now that he’s seen that?”
Much to her surprise, Sebastian gave her a definite answer. “Yes.”
He had always been emotionally restrained and cared about his dignity.
Thus, it was rare to get that kind of answer from him.
Feeling relieved, she lay in Sebastian’s embrace and soon drifted off to sleep.
The sky was already bright by the time the couple woke up the next day.
Sebastian was the first to wake up because he heard a faint sound of a monk chanting outside.
Do they pray so early in the morning?
Sebastian stole a glance at Sasha, who was sound asleep beside him. He placed her gently under the blankets, got out of bed, and briefly tidied himself before leaving the room.
“Good morning, Sebastian.”
The second he stepped out of the room, he saw a familiar figure.
It was the pupil who constantly followed Shin around. Upon seeing Sebastian, the former placed his hands in front of his abdomen in a respectful manner as if he had been waiting for him.
The sight before Sebastian made his heart skip a beat, and he had a bad feeling about it.
“What’s the matter? Where is he?” Sebastian asked coldly, glancing at the entrance of the hall that was filled with monks.
The monk lowered his head, saying, “Sebastian, Master passed away last night. Before he left, he instructed me to give you these and remind both of you not to be sad, for he has just gone to a place where he needs to go.”
With that, he took out something from his pocket.
Sebastian was dumbstruck.
What’s the meaning of this? He passed away? How? He was all right yesterday. Why would that old baldy pull such an act? He could’ve just stayed here if he didn’t want to descend the mountain. What’s this now?
Sebastian’s chest rose and fell violently, his face ghostly pale.
He looked as if he was about to explode with rage.
The monk instinctively took a step back when he saw Sebastian’s reaction.
Thankfully, Sasha had awakened and exited the room. The moment she saw the scene, she hurried over to Sebastian.
“Darling, calm down. Darling!” she yelled, grabbing his arm forcefully to make him calm down.
However, her efforts were useless. It was impossible for anyone to accept such devastating news. Moreover, they had been extremely sure last night that Shin would leave with them.
Sasha held onto him for a long time, her nails digging into his flesh.
It was only then that the redness in his eyes gradually faded.
“Why? Why is he doing this?” he uttered the first thing he snapped back to reality. His words were laced with sorrow and suppressed fury.
The monk shuddered.
After some time, he lowered his head and suggested, “Sebastian, perhaps you should come with me and take a look for yourself.”
With that, the monk turned and left.
Seeing that, Sasha pulled Sebastian to follow the monk. Not long after, when the duo arrived at their destination, Sasha raised her head, only to realize they were standing under a huge maple tree in front of the thousand-year-old temple.
“This is…”
“Come over here and take a look.” The monk pointed to where he was standing.
Returning from the Dead His Secret Lover Chapter 1995-Sasha quickly tugged Sebastian’s hand to lead him over to the spot. To their surprise, it was a tiny mound. There was nothing on it but a rare sacred fig planted beside it. Its thick trunk and luxuriant leaves protected the mound firmly.
“This was planted by Master. In fact, he planted this before I came to this temple. Ever since I came here, I had been seeing him meditating here day and night.” “Why did he come here to meditate?”
“That’s because the old master of the temple says there’s something buried under this place that belongs to Master’s old friend. He had been doing this for decades until you two showed up,” the monk said truthfully.
Sasha froze. As she turned around, she saw that Sebastian’s face had been drained of color, and he was staring fixedly at the mound. He was so still as if his feet were rooted to the ground.
The old friend was, of course, none other than Frieda. Sasha could not help but wonder how Shin had endured all the pain for so many years.
Rather than telling the world that Eddie had forced him to stay in the temple, Shin had chosen to imprison himself here to atone for his sins, repent and drown in guilt.
Perhaps while he was meditating in front of the sacred fig, he had wondered if Frieda would not have had such a tragic end if he did not insist on marrying her.
Sadly, there was no turning back.
Sebastian went over to the mound slowly and lowered his head to see a stone that was polished until it was smooth. Finally, he shut his eyes and asked, “So, is he free from his misery now?”
“Sebastian, Master had already resigned to his fate long ago. He suffered a lot of persecution when he was forced to become the devil of Aquene Temple. The only reason he could hang on till now was his strong will and worry for you. Now that both matters have been resolved, it was only a matter of time before he passed away,” the monk said calmly.
He was not sad about the happenings. Rather, he felt a sense of relief when he saw that his master was finally free from his decades of suffering there.
Maybe this is the difference between religion and the world.
Sebastian said nothing else.
He merely stood there, still holding on to the children’s bracelet that had faded in color, and stared at them in a daze.
Sasha asked sadly, “He kept these for you, didn’t he? He didn’t get to bring them back before something happened to you and your mom.”
She had finally proven that the elder did not choose to become a monk.
In truth, he had been praying for his loved ones and keeping the children’s bracelet all that while. The most basic requirement to become a monk was to be free of desires and emotions.
Shin, however, had failed to do that.
He had been thinking of Frieda and Sebastian all the time. He just did not want or have the guts to admit it. If it were not for the letter and the medal, he would probably continue suffering for a long time.
When Sasha left the temple with Sebastian, she was still feeling sorrowful and even guilty.
She felt that Shin would not have died if not for her arrangement.
“Darling, I’m sorry. I—”
“Look! The flowers have bloomed!” Holding her hand, Sebastian suddenly pointed at the bush that had withered in the winter.
Sasha was puzzled.
Flowers?
She turned to look in the same direction.
It was the coldest season and withered plants were scattered all over the temple entrance. Yet, she saw tiny purple flowers blooming under the sun in the withered bush.
What flowers are these?
Sasha inched over, lowering her head to study it. It was at that moment that she realized it was a seedling that had grown from the fallen seeds of the sacred fig.
The seedling was on the purplish spectrum, which made it look like a flower at a glance.
The sacred fig is blooming…
The couple pulled out a huge batch of it.
Sasha asked, “Are you sure you want to plant it at Oceanic Estate?”
Sebastian replied, “I’m going to give some to the three of them.”
Sasha was nonplussed.
Will a plant like this survive after transplantation? Besides, he wants to give it to the other three. One of them is in Southeast Astoria, another is in Yartran, and the last one is nowhere to be found. Will this plant…
Still, Sasha said nothing. After packing the seedling, both of them went home.
As soon as they arrived at Oceanic Estate, they recounted the entire story to the family members who had been waiting for them. Everyone was stunned after listening to the story. Jonathan, especially, fell silent for a long time.
Sasha and Sebastian were worried when they noted his reaction.
To their surprise, Jonathan merely felt depressed for a short while. After that, he had been fine until the fifteenth of the month.
Returning from the Dead His Secret Lover Chapter 1996-The new year had begun, and everyone became busy once more. The newlyweds, Ian and Susan, planned on leaving for Southeast Astoria on the sixteenth. Ian was now the person in charge over there, so he had to rush over. After all, Hayes Corporation’s growth over there over the past six months had been tremendous.
Sasha could only help them with the packing. “Mom, there is no need to pack so many things. We can buy everything we need there.”
Susan was terrified when she looked at her mother-in-law. Sasha ignored her and continued packing for the two of them.
Once she was done packing for them, she moved on to packing for Vivian and Kurt. Vivian was in Yartran at the time while Kurt was working in a construction company in Gronga.
That made Sasha worry. “When are you two going to live together? Seriously, it’s so troublesome for me to pack two sets of everything,” she complained. She felt a headache coming as she looked at the items in front of her that came in pairs.
Kurt’s ears turned red, for he still felt a little shy when hearing those words from an elder.
Vivian, on the other hand, wasn’t bothered at all. Seeing how troubled her mother was, she said, “We’re already living together. Just one set is enough.” Sasha was dumbstruck. “Huh?”
Kurt was utterly speechless. The situation became even more awkward. He couldn’t help but turn his head to look in another direction.
After packing for two of her kids, Sasha focused on packing Matteo’s things. She was going to get Devin to hand everything to Matteo when he dropped Natalie and Nina there.
Nina will be fine. She’s a big girl now and is independent and smart. The one I’m more worried about is Nat. “Nat, remember to behave and listen to your uncle, okay?” Sasha looked at her, who was playing the piano, and stroked her head.
Natalie didn’t respond. Her tiny hands kept dancing away on the piano, and at that moment, she looked so much like her talented father.
Sasha let out a sigh. Just as she was about to look for Devin, Natalie piped up, “I don’t want to leave anymore.” “Huh?” Sasha turned to look at Natalie. “What did you just say? You don’t want to leave?”
“Yes, I’m not leaving. I want to stay here and learn from you. I have decided that I want to become a doctor like you. That way, I can treat many patients and save them.”
Natalie was still playing the piano as she spoke to Sasha. She sounded as if she was chatting casually with the latter when in fact she had announced a huge decision.
Sasha was stunned.
It took her some time before she made her way to Natalie.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I am. I will study hard so that I’ll get accepted into the best university in the world. After that, I will become the best doctor there is!”
Natalie, who had just started middle school, finally stopped playing the piano.
She turned away from the piano and looked into Sasha’s eyes. At that moment, the glow in Natalie’s eyes was just as bright as that of her mother. Sasha had never seen such determination and clarity in anybody’s eyes before. A doctor…
Sasha stared at Natalie for quite some time before she finally smiled, tears rolling down her cheeks. She reached out and hugged the child tightly.
She’s finally opening up! She has taken her first step and is dealing with her grief. Maybe that is what makes her realize that she wants to be a doctor. She witnessed how her father died after all. It’s only natural that would inspire her to become a doctor and save others.
Sasha was so touched that she couldn’t control herself.
“Okay, I’ll promise you this. As long as this is what you truly want, I will do everything I can to send you to the best school and help you become a great doctor.”
“Okay.” Natalie nodded. The Jadesons were excited and pleased when they heard the news. They canceled Natalie’s flight tickets and helped set everything up so she could stay in the country and study. That meant that Nina was the only one left.
Kurt suggested, “Natalie’s not leaving anymore, so maybe you should stay too. It’d be nice to study together.”
Nina refuted, “Why should I stay? She’s her own person and so am I. I’ve been studying well there, so why should I give up just because she doesn’t want to leave anymore?”
This little brat doesn’t respect her big brother at all! Kurt’s face clouded over. Fortunately, Sasha was around and saw what was going on. She immediately stepped forward to stop the siblings from arguing.
“It’s fine. If Nina wants to go, then we should let her go. I heard that she did really well over well. Kids always get excited when they meet teachers and peers who inspire them. This will be good for her.” “But—”
“Okay, I’m putting an end to this discussion. You don’t need to worry about any of this. All I want is for you to take care of Vivi for me. I will make sure Nina is fine.”
Sasha only wanted to get rid of her future son-in-law. Nina was rather mature, so she wasn’t that worried. Vivian, on the other hand, had never learned how to be independent because Kurt had basically spent the last few years spoiling her. That was why she was worried more about Vivian.
In the end, Kurt had no choice but to leave. Nina was delighted, and she left with Devin that very night.
Returning from the Dead His Secret Lover Chapter 1997-Peace returned to Oceanic Estate once the kids had left. Now that everything was settled, the couple, who had been busy, decided to take a good rest. They thought about staying in Avenport for a few days to keep Rufus company.
However, on the seventeenth, Mark showed up to inform them that Jonathan had passed away. Sasha and Sebastian stayed in their room for a long, long time. It was simply too sudden.
There was no warning at all. Jonathan, the powerful warrior who had survived hundreds of battles, had left the world just like that. Worse still, it happened after everyone had left Oceanic Estate.
Sebastian broke down a little after receiving the news. He had just mourned his father’s passing before the new year, and now his grandfather was gone, too.
He locked himself in Jonathan’s room and stayed there all afternoon, guarding over the latter’s body. Not once had he ever left.
“Will he be okay?”
Mark was rather worried after he saw how Sebastian reacted.
Surprisingly, Sasha was much calmer. She knew that the day would come. After all, that was the reason they had held her son’s wedding in advance. They wanted to fulfill Jonathan’s last wish and make him happy.
That was why Sasha accepted his death rather quickly. While Sebastian locked himself in the room, she calmly planned the funeral and informed their friends and family who had just attended Ian’s wedding.
Oceanic Estate was once again bustling with activity that evening. However, instead of beautiful wedding decorations, the house was filled with condolence flowers.
“He left so suddenly. I can’t believe he passed away just days after his great-grandson’s wedding.” “Yeah. He didn’t get to see the birth of his great-great-grandchild.”
Everyone who came for the funeral was sad to see how the cheery ambiance from just two weeks ago had turned into something so sorrowful.
However, someone else spoke up soon after.
“That is not true. He’s blessed. He’s over ninety years old. I heard that he had been unwell and had lived in a temple for some time. Now that he got to see his great-grandson get married and even passed away after the festive season, I’d say that this is as blessed as a person can get.”
“I guess you’re right.” The revelation hit everyone after they heard those words.
He’s right. Old Mr. Jadeson passed away in his nineties. That means he had lived longer than most people out there. On top of that, God had been merciful to him. He got to see everyone he wanted to see one last time, and he left in a way such that he wouldn’t burden his children or grandchildren. Only a handful of people could have such a blessing.
Suddenly, everyone became jealous of Jonathan.
The Jadesons weren’t that heartbroken, either. They had been mentally prepared. Even Sebastian managed to calm himself down and take over the planning of the funeral after he came out of Jonathan’s room.
“Darling, should we tell the kids about this?”
“No. He chose to go on this day because he didn’t want the kids to be sad. We’ll let them know after the funeral.”
Sebastian’s voice was thick with tears. He had a white flower on his chest and was standing solemnly by the condolence flowers.
Sasha, who was also standing at the side and welcoming the guest, couldn’t help glancing at the photo of the deceased.
Jonathan was smiling so happily.
It was almost as though he could see who was standing right in front of his portrait. His grandson, the heir he favored the most, was right there with him.
The funeral was simple.
Mark claimed that it was what Jonathan wanted.
However, despite Jonathan’s wishes, there were still too many mourners there to pay their condolences. As Devin had left to take Nina to Matteo, Sasha and Sebastian could only recruit more help.
“The Coopers are here, Mrs. Jadeson,” informed Olivia as she made her way to Sasha.
Sasha, who had been welcoming the guests in person, smiled upon hearing that.
The Coopers being there was good news because the siblings, especially Riley, were very capable and could help a lot.
Sasha left to meet the siblings right away.
“Edmund, Riley, you’re both here. Thank you so much.”
“It’s fine. We’re family, aren’t we? Just stay where you are, Sasha. I’ll deal with everything else,” Riley said.
Sasha thought, Riley is indeed a good helper. I don’t have to worry so much now that she’s offered to help.
She then looked at her husband, who was standing beside her and who only had eyes for her. At that moment, she couldn’t ask for anything more.
“Okay. Thank you so much. Wait… If you’re both here, then who’s taking care of Ronald? He’s just a kid. Did you leave him alone at home?” Sasha quickly asked when she saw that they did not bring the child with them.
Returning from the Dead His Secret Lover Chapter 1998-Riley chuckled. “Don’t worry. He’s at his granny’s place. I wanted to take him here at first, but then I thought about the crowd and how his immune system is still fragile, so I changed my mind.”
“That’s good to know.” Sasha sighed in relief. “You did the right thing. He doesn’t need to be here. He’s too young to understand any of this and is physically weak. It’s better not to risk anything. How are his grandparents, by the way?”
“They’re doing much better now. We changed Ronald’s surname and let them have his household register. They will surely get better now that they have someone to think about and love. Plus, my brother is staying with them now.”
Here, Riley turned to look at her brother, who was greeting the guests at that time. Love, regret, and a hint of worry shone in her eyes.
Sasha didn’t know what to say. Just as she found the right words, more guests showed up. She had no choice but to hurry to them and thank them for dropping by.
There was no such thing as perfection in this world. Sasha had managed to help that poor woman keep the baby, and that was a miracle in itself.
Perhaps that was what the man owed. He would have to repent and repay the two elders for what he had done. Three days later, the funeral was finally over.
Returning from the cemetery, the couple saw how Oceanic Estate had already been cleaned and tidied up. The place suddenly seemed so big and empty.
“Sebby, are we going to be the lonely old couple who live in a big house now?” “Huh?” Sebastian, standing at the side, raised his brows in dissatisfaction after he heard those words.
Old couple? I’m only in my forties. How am I old? He let go of her hand and walked to the bar to get a bottle of expensive wine out of the cabinet. He opened the bottle and poured two glasses before handing one to her.
“Lonely? Wouldn’t it sound nicer to just say that we finally get to spend all of our time with each other now?” “Huh?” Sasha took the glass. “Our time?”
“Yeah. We were both busy when we were younger and couldn’t spend much time enjoying our lives. Now that we are finally free, we get to spend our time however we like.”
Sebastian ignored the housemaids at home and reached out to pull Sasha into his embrace. Sasha’s heart skipped a beat.
Seriously, what is wrong with him? Why is he seducing me even though he’s already in his forties? D*mn it, and why am I reacting to this?
Sasha blushed. “What do you mean?”
“From now on, I will go wherever you want to go. If you want to, we can travel the world together. Darling, it’s time we enjoy our lives together.”
His warm breath brushed against her eyelashes, causing her heart to thump faster. I can go wherever I want to go… And we’ll enjoy our lives together…
Sasha looked up and right into the man’s eyes. The past they had shared together flashed across her mind, prompting tears to well up in her eyes.
We’ve been through so much, and we’ve never got to spend our time enjoying the simple things in life and being in each other’s company.
He’s right. The rest of the time belongs to us now. “Okay. We’ll spend the rest of our lives together. You will be by my side at all times. I love you, Sebastian.” “I love you, too.”
