Ch. 541..550
Returning from the Dead Chapter 541
Karl slashed Hanako’s face repeatedly even after she stopped breathing. He simply could not get over the fact that this woman wanted to cut Sasha’s face.
“Karl… That’s enough…”
He did not stop until Sasha called out to him with a shaky voice.
When he finally stopped, he stood motionless for a while before turning around.
“I’m sorry I came late, Madam. I didn’t know you’re here. I…”
Karl felt so guilty he could not even look Sasha in the eyes.
He could not believe he did not even recognize the woman beside Sebastian was just an impersonator. As someone who had undergone strict training and had Sebastian’s absolute trust, he could not believe he almost failed to protect Sasha.
If Sebastian had not realized this earlier, Sasha could have died here. Then, he would have to live in guilt for the rest of her life.
“It’s okay… I know you guys will save me one day…”
Sasha was still recovering from the shock.
Her eyes were brimmed with tears.
Although her vision was still blurry, she could tell that Karl was blaming himself, so she comforted him.
Before Karl could say anything, he heard footsteps and shouts outside. Someone had found out about his intrusion.
“Madam, we should get going.”
Sasha nodded lightly.
Next, Karl untied her, carried her in his arms, and fled the house.
Within minutes, Sebastian received a text and a few photos from Karl.
All the voices at the press conference instantly became muted as he squinted at the photos.
The woman sitting beside Karl looked exactly the same as the woman sitting beside Sebastian, but Sebastian could still tell that the real Sasha was the one he was looking at on the screen.
He could feel the sense of familiarity even through the screen.
Madam is safe. We are on the way back to Avenport. I’m sorry I was late.
Karl apologized and promised to bring her back home safely.
Sebastian clenched his fists to stop himself from shaking. After he calmed down, he texted back. How is she? She doesn’t look good. What did they do to her?
Karl’s fingers froze as he looked at his phone and then at the woman beside him who had fallen asleep.
Gosh, Madam purposely put on makeup just because I wanted to take pictures of her. I can’t believe Mr. Hayes can still see that she’s not well.
Karl had no choice but to report everything accordingly.
Mrs. Tsurka locked her up in a secret room to keep her from running away. They injected her with some drugs so she can’t walk.
Karl stopped halfway. He was contemplating if he should describe everything so vividly.
Provoking Sebastian was the last thing he wanted to do.
Just as Karl was deep in thoughts, people gathered around the huge LED screen at the waiting hall at the airport. The press conference at Avenport was being broadcast across the world. Everyone was talking about Frederick’s cause of death.
When Karl saw this, his blood boiled and he decided to tell Sebastian everything.
A face transplant?
How dare these bast*rds!
Crash!
Infuriated, Sebastian booted the table in front of him and upended it in front of all the reporters.
Everyone stared at him.
They thought Sebastian lost it because he just found out that his father died because someone poisoned him.
The reporters were stunned looking at how Sebastian was quivering in anger. They were so shocked they even forgot to point their cameras at him.
Even Solomon was not expecting Sebastian to react so dramatically.
“Did you or did you not do it?” Sebastian enunciated clearly.
Solomon’s expression became pale as sheet.
Before long, he relaxed his sweaty hands and looked back at Sebastian. “Did I do what? They only found there’s something fishy to his death. Even if someone killed him, what do you want me to admit? Don’t accuse me without any proof.”
“So you’re not coming clean?”
“I did nothing wrong. If you can prove that I did it, then I’ll surrender myself to the police, but it’s not me, so there’s nothing I need to confess.”
At the end of the day, Solomon was still a lawyer. He was made to handle thorny situations like this.
Even when things had already evolved to this stage, he still insisted that he would not cave unless there was solid proof.
He knew Sebastian had no proof.
This was because Frederick already knew they were going to kill him back then, so he did not even fight back. That was why there was no proof left.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 542
Sebastian glared at him. “Great. You can choose not to admit it, but remember that you’re here today because Dad has given you a chance.”
“What do you mean?”
Solomon looked at him warily, anticipating the worst.
Now, all the blood had drained from his face and he really looked like a ghost.
Sebastian smirked and retracted his gaze.
“I’m just reminding you that you shouldn’t let your guard down. Dad might have given you a second chance, but it doesn’t mean I will. Allow me to proceed with my second question. Tell me about your company in Jetroina, Sinch Enterprise,” Sebastian said, pointing at the Jetroinian beside Solomon.
The focus of the conference changed again and now everyone was looking at this man.
Seeing himself put in a tight spot, the man stuttered. “I… Sinch Enterprise is here to acquire Hayes Corporation’s shares. Everything we do is legal.”
“Really?”
“From what I remember, Hayes Corporation is very generous with our dividends. Why did our shareholders transfer their shares to you?”
The man could not answer.
“Not to mention, every share transfer to a third party needs to be approved by the major shareholder, who is my dad. You said you acquired those shares by legal means, but how? By forcing my dad to sign the deal?”
Then, he gave a signal and someone brought a projector over.
Just as everyone was holding their breath waiting for more revelation, they were completely blown away when the unlikeliest man appeared on the screen before their eyes. It was a video of Frederick.
Mr. Hayes, there are still three contracts you need to sign. You can go back to the nursing home after you sign them.
There was no sound after that.
The frail old man who was sitting at the table did not say a word. He took up his pen quietly and signed his name.
Everyone watched in silence and resignation.
They could not believe a once-powerful man would one day be reduced to such a poor state, but regardless of how difficult it was for them to believe their eyes, what they saw next was even more heart-wrenching.
In the next video, Frederick was already at the nursing home.
He was hitting his immobile legs with his fists because he was going through too much pain. A woman with neatly combed hair approached him.
“Mr. Hayes, Mrs. Tsurka is still waiting for the 20 percent of shares from Peter. She said you’d better hurry up before it’s too late. She wants it transferred before the press conference.” The woman making the demand had a thick Jetroinian accent.
Everyone at the press conference started discussing among themselves.
“So this is how Sinch Enterprise got Hayes Corporation’s shares?”
“Gosh, this is so heartless. How can they ever do that? This is a sheer robbery! How dare they extort the old man like this? I can’t believe Hayes Corporation did nothing to fight back.”
“No, take a closer look at the date. All this happened when Mr. Sebastian was not at the company.”
“Wait… You mean Mr. Solomon has condoned this?”
“This is outrageous!”
In just a matter of seconds, the reporters connected the dots and knew Solomon was behind that.
Solomon’s face became even more ghostly pale as more people cast questioning gazes at him.
To be precise, he already panicked the moment he saw the recording. He badly wanted to end the press conference right there and then, but there was no way Sebastian would let him do it.
He had his frustration all pent up, waiting to unleash it. Since Solomon looked forward to this press conference so much, Sebastian would make it unforgettable for him.
“Mr. Miller, it’s time for your show.”
“Yes, Mr. Hayes.”
Peter had been waiting for this moment for a long time. He and a few others behind him stood up in front of the reporters.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m Peter Miller. I’m the person the Jetroinian lady mentioned in the video. I own 20 percent of Hayes Corporation and I have yet to transfer my shares, but they hunted me down because I refuse to give my consent,” he said, “I was desperate, so I handed the agreement to Ms. Sabrina, hoping that she will keep it safe, but in the end, they kidnapped her and sent her to Jetroina. They injected her with Phantasia and she’s still unstable till today.”
His words dropped on everyone like a bomb.
Goodness! This is really spine-chilling!
The reporters had completely lost respect for Solomon. Everyone just glared at him as they were all infuriated with his despicable acts.
Camera flashes lit up across the room as everyone took pictures of Solomon and the Jetroinian man beside him.
“Mr. Solomon, are you really one of the Hayes?”
“Mr. Solomon, how do you feel when you persecuted your own father? Is Hayes Corporation everything you’re eyeing for? Is the company more important than your father?”
Returning from the Dead Chapter 543
“Mr. Solomon, why did you even return to Hayes Corporation in the first place? Is it to reunite with the family, or just to get the inheritance?”
More sharp questions were directed at Solomon.
It did not require any impressive weapons to completely tear him down.
Just a few words from the reporters were enough to ruin his name. This scene was aired worldwide and everyone who watched this knew what kind of a person Solomon was.
They even saw the videos exposing his evil deeds.
There was nothing left for Solomon to say to defend himself.
As for Yancy, she was in distress back at the lounge. If her assistant had not pulled her back, she would have dashed to the scene.
Sebastian Hayes! You b*stard!
Just as things could not get any worse, terrible news came.
“Wait… I think I’ve seen Mr. Solomon at an international summit before. There were two major companies from Astoria, and one of them was Sinch Enterprise from Jetroina. Mr. Solomon was the representative of that company.”
“Are you positive?”
“Yes, it’s him. Now that I think of it, he’s the owner of Sinch Enterprise. I’ve been to the company to do an interview. He’s the person in charge.”
“I think he is Mr. Tsurka’s adoptive son.
This additional information spiced up the whole press conference.
Never had the reporters attended such a revealing event. The revelation was like an atomic bomb explosion shocking the whole world.
Despite how telling everything was, Sebastian was still not satisfied. He had yet to achieve his goal.
His target was the woman behind Solomon. He knew Solomon was just her puppet. Besides, Sebastian would actually spare Solomon for Frederick’s sake.
Sebastian was determined on making sure she would be vanquished and reduced to dust.
She killed Frederick and Sabrina. Most importantly, she wanted to harm Sasha.
Unquenchable hatred consumed him as he thought of all the atrocious offenses that woman had committed.
“Solomon’s adoptive mother…”
Beep!
Just as Sebastian was speaking, his phone vibrated.
“Yes?”
“Sebby, could you come and pick me up? I’m not feeling well… I’m scared…”
A soft and weak voice came from the other side. Her voice bespelled Sebastian, driving away the hard look on his face.
“Are you okay? I’ll be there right away.”
His voice became tender and comforting as if he was coaxing a child.
He completely forgot he was handling a tense situation. All he could think of was Sasha. He would even bring her the brightest star if made a request.
Beside him, the woman who had had her head low all this while gradually looked up at Sebastian.
“Are you coming now?”
“Yes. I’m coming now.”
“Are you taking the private jet?”
“Yeah.”
“Wait, it’s fine. You’re broke. Just buy a ticket and come over. I haven’t been earning much lately, so we have to watch our expenses. We still have kids to feed.”
She sounded worn out, but she still reminded Sebastian to be thrifty.
That elicited a smile on Sebastian’s face.
The woman beside him was dazed looking at him as he walked out of the conference room.
When he finally went out of her sight, she retracted her gaze in dejection.
She knew Sebastian would never smile at her like that.
Even throughout those two days, he did not look at her nor speak to her like that.
Why?
We have the same face, but why does that woman get his heart? Why can’t it be me?
Does he not care about my looks at all?
She could not wrap her head around it.
She failed to see that there was more to just outlook when it came to love.
Sasha fell into deep sleep before Sebastian arrived.
She was utterly exhausted.
If Karl had not left to retrieve their boarding passes and the child beside her had not cried, she would have slept all the way till they got back to Avenport.
When Sasha woke up, she saw Sebastian in the live broadcast.
She could read him like an open book. By looking at his one move, she knew he was about to point out that there was a mastermind behind all these ploys.
Just like him, Sasha wanted Yancy to receive her due punishment. Yancy coveted Hayes Corporation, but all her hopes would come to nothing.
Sasha could not wait to see her downfall. Even death was an easy way out for someone like her.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 544
Despite how much she hated Yancy, Sasha did not want Sebastian to be blinded by hatred.
If she let Sebastian get carried away by his emotions, it would eat him up like a serpent from within.
It would be very hard for her to save him from the pit by then.
“Karl, could you send me to the hotel first? I’ll go back after Sebastian arrives. Is that okay?” Sasha kept repeating herself until she fell into slumber again.
By the time Sebastian arrived at the airport in his private jet, it was already three o’clock in the afternoon.
Sasha was sleeping soundly on the bed when he reached the hotel.
“Has the doctor seen her?”
“Yeah. The doctor said she’s just too weak. She was drugged and she had not been eating because she did not want to give in to that evil witch. Oh, the doctor also said that… um… there are signs of self-harm.”
Karl’s voice trailed off toward the end because he knew Sebastian would get angry. He was also disturbed because he felt sorry for Sasha.
Rage settled in Sebastian’s bloodshot eyes. He rushed over to the bed and lifted the blanket to check Sasha’s wrist.
True enough, there was a scar of a deep wound. It was obvious that Sasha really wanted to end her life. Sebastian lost control and punched his fist against the wall in full force.
“Mr. Hayes!” Karl exclaimed.
“I want Sinch Enterprise gone within a month. I want them destroyed! Wipe it out completely!”
He gave the order word by word through gritted teeth.
Karl’s eyes widened in astonishment.
Wipe out Sinch Enterprise in one month?
Is this even possible? Sinch Enterprise was no small company. It was one of the leading businesses in Astoria. It came next after Hayes Corporation.
Acquiring a company like this would be a rather challenging feat, but Karl quickly agreed.
He almost forgot that Sebastian himself was no small fry in the business world, so Karl set out to carry out his new order.
It was not until nine o’clock at night that Sasha woke up. She slowly opened her eyes when she felt a comfortable and familiar presence beside her.
“Are you awake?”
When Sebastian realized she was awake, he circled his arms around her and lifted her, then placed her in his embrace.
What is going on?
Sasha looked up in confusion.
She blinked her eyes hard, trying to make sense of what was happening.
“Sebby… is that you?”
Her cheeks turned red when she realized it was Sebastian. She shifted her gaze and snuggled in his arms.
What is he doing?
Can’t he just give me a break.
She was a little shy as she looked elsewhere.
Sebastian smiled looking at her. He had finally got her back by his side.
This was the person he had been waiting for.
Although they had been married for years and had three children together, Sasha would still be shy whenever he touched her.
He loved it every time she called him Sebby.
Sebastian hugged her and planted a kiss on her forehead carefully so he did not hurt her.
“I’m sorry I failed to protect you.”
“What are you sorry for? This has nothing to do with you. It’s my fault actually. I shouldn’t have kept those things.”
Sasha lowered her head as she was feeling guilty.
What a silly girl!
It pained him to see her like this. He knew she did everything because of him, but she always shouldered the blame.
Sebastian did not want to talk about it anymore. He almost lost her again and he just wanted to stay by her side now. He just wanted to hold her in his arms and talk to her.
He would readily trade the whole world to stay this way forever.
“Oh, how is Sabrina? I haven’t heard anything about her after we got caught. I heard Yancy saying that she left her on the boat.”
Sasha suddenly remembered Sabrina.
Sebastian patted her back and assured her. “She’s fine. Who’s this Yancy you’re talking about by the way?”
“Don’t you know her? She’s Solomon’s mother. Didn’t you see her at the press conference?”
Sasha looked up in surprise.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 545
He actually doesn’t know Yancy?
Sasha was astonished as she looked at him. “She’s Solomon’s mom. Didn’t you see her at the press conference?”
“Are you talking about the stepmother?”
“No, she’s not the stepmother. She’s his biological mother!” Sasha looked really serious when she explained it.
Meanwhile, Sebastian was dumbfounded after hearing that.
She’s actually his biological mother? How could that be? Didn’t Solomon’s mother pass away a long time ago?
That said, it was true that Sebastian did not know about it. He merely felt curious when he heard about Yamada’s wife from Roxanne.
He was too busy after finding out about Frieda for him to care about anything else. On top of that, he had to deal with the fake Sasha.
Thus, he had no idea about Yancy.
“Back then, Yancy asked someone to send Solomon to my house when he was eight and asked my mother to raise him before she faked her death. She always held a grudge after giving birth to him. God knows how she appeared in Jetroina and seduced Yamada. Now, she’s his wife,” Sasha explained after she saw how astonished Sebastian was.
Nonetheless, Sasha emphasized the seducing part when talking about Yancy being Yamada’s wife to show her detest for Yancy.
Truth be told, Yancy indeed had an awful personality.
With that, Sebastian finally felt enlightened from the unanswered question he had in his mind all this while.
“So that’s how it is. I was wondering why Yamada would leave the family business to an adopted son.”
“Yeah, it was all Yancy’s idea. After all, Yamada simply adores her. He even built a whole garden of peonies in Lostaria just for her. I was thoroughly shocked when I saw it.”
Right then, Sasha unknowingly exposed her visit to Lostaria.
And as soon as she finished speaking, Sebastian’s arms immediately tightened around her.
“Lostaria? Weren’t you held captive in Kenfort? How did you end up at Lostaria? They told me you were released. What happened? Did they lock you back up in Lostaria after that?”
Within seconds, Sebastian’s gaze grew sharper while exuding a cold and menacing aura.
Upon that, Sasha panicked.
Sh*t! Why did I just say that?
“I…” She looked away and tried to come up with an excuse. “I have no idea. They were the ones who transferred me there.”
“Say that again!”
Sebastian’s bloodshot eyes widened when he said those words. The man was even gritting his teeth as though he was ready to devour her.
On the other hand, Sasha was rendered speechless and eventually gave in under the pressure of Sebastian’s murderous gaze.
“Alright. I-I will tell you the truth. I was actually released back then, but I was curious about the woman behind it all and wanted to see who she is…
“So, I secretly visited Lostaria on my own.”
For the entire time, she kept her head buried in Sebastian’s embrace, afraid to even take a peek at the man.
She was too afraid, and she was right to be.
When she finished, Sebastian was breathing so heavily that it sounded like he was going to drag Sasha outside to beat her up.
Sasha flinched and held Sebastian even closer. She was even more afraid to move at that point.
However, she waited in fear for a long time, but Sebastian did nothing. He merely stared at her for a long while before he let out a long sigh and tightened his embrace even more.
“Sasha, I really feel like strangling you sometimes, y’know?”
Despite that, Sasha remained silent.
“You’re always like this. You make decisions on your own and disregard the people around you. Have you ever thought about what we feel?” Sebastian did his best to calm himself down and started talking to her.
As a matter of fact, he needed to have a word with her regarding that incident.
I know you did all these for me, but do you know how I would feel when you put yourself in danger? Worried, afraid, or even anxious—none of these could fully express what I felt.
There was only one way to describe what he felt—it was a tour through hell.
“Sasha, you need to remember this. Nothing is more important than your own life. Think about it. Would you want to see me risking my life for something?”
“Of course not.”
Sasha answered without a moment’s hesitation.
At that, Sebastian nodded in satisfaction. “So, you should do the same then. Remember to come to me before making any decisions and prioritize your safety above all else.”
Returning from the Dead Chapter 546
“I understand,” Sasha agreed obediently.
After that, they stayed like that for a little while longer before Sebastian eventually got up to make some food for her.
After a while, Karl arrived at the hotel at around nine-thirty and gave Sebastian a report about what happened at the press conference.
“After you left, Peter immediately got the police as well as people from the bureau over. The police took the doctor’s sample away and asked for the personnel involved, including Solomon, to assist in the investigation. The Bureau of Industry and Commerce took the representative of Sinch Enterprise away after seeing the footage of how they threatened their way into getting the share transfer. The shares they own will be voided if evidence shows their involvement in fraudulent activities.”
Sebastian listened quietly. It was the first time he heard Karl report to him with so much excitement in his eyes.
Nevertheless, everything went according to his plans, so Sebastian did not show the slightest reaction.
I merely didn’t want the company back then. You fools think you stand a chance if I actually took action?
“Got it. You can head back first; I have to stay here for two more days.”
“Huh?” Karl looked at Sebastian, astonished. “Two days? What’s going to happen to the company? You need to be there to hold the fort, right?”
“There’s Peter and the rest.”
“Mr. Hayes! You’re vastly overestimating their capabilities. Do you actually think they could manage the company?” Karl was desperate.
Karl was right; those men were, indeed, all incompetent fools who only ever thought about themselves when the company was facing a crisis.
Left without a choice, Sebastian agreed to go back the next day.
Then, he went back to the bedroom to find Sasha, who was already fast asleep.
After a good night’s sleep, Sasha woke up to a bright morning.
“Are you awake?”
Sebastian had already woken up for quite some time and was wearing a beige-colored sweater with a matching inner shirt. He looked exceptionally invigorated, which was a stark contrast to his usual cold demeanor.
“Yeah, I’m awake. Are we heading back today?”
“Yeap,” Sebastian replied as he walked over to measure Sasha’s temperature. As expected, Sasha complied meekly.
After that, Sasha got ready to get out of bed and wash up, but Sebastian stopped her right as she lifted the blanket.
He then bent down and picked her up from the bed before carrying her to the washroom.
Sasha was slightly startled.
Oh my… I’m going to be so spoiled…
Her petite face was bright red when they reached the sink, and it took Sasha quite sometime before she started brushing her teeth.
“I wish we could stay here for a little longer so you could rest up. But it seems like the company really needs me.”
“It’s okay,” Sasha nodded and replied with bubbles still in her mouth.
However, what Sebastian said also reminded her of what she wanted to ask him the night prior.
“Sebastian. I’m curious. How did you find out about their plans? Yancy even got another ‘me’ just to make you hand over your shares, right?”
“Huh?” Sebastian raised his head while he was filling up the bathtub with warm water.
I thought she didn’t care about it, but it seems like she was just hiding it.
“She did. Straight to my front door.”
“Then… Were you two together all the time? What did she do to you? A-Anything happened between you two?”
Sasha immediately felt anxious and asked Sebastian before she even rinsed.
That said, she quickly realized she should not have asked that question, and her face flushed instantly after. She could not even speak properly.
“Did you want something to happen?” Sebastian looked at her, clearly amused by how she reacted.
“I…”
“She’s not you. What could possibly happen between us?” Sebastian was calm as he said that.
Upon that, Sasha was stunned as she gave him a wide-eyed stare.
No way! Hanako told me that she looked exactly the same! I actually felt so upset because of it. How did he know it wasn’t me? Is he trying to make me feel better by lying to me?
Sasha had her doubts as the sparkle in her eyes grew dull. “When did you find out?”
“From the moment she called me.”
“Huh? What did she call you?”
Sebastian went silent.
There was a flash of detest in his eyes as he remembered what she called him. Thus, he did not want to mention it.
Nonetheless, he could see that Sasha was hesitant in believing him, but he decided to not tell her anything. Instead, Sebastian suddenly inched closer toward her and asked, “What did you call me?”
“Me? I… I call you Sebby, right?”
“Can you say that again?”
“S-Seb-by?”
At that moment, time froze as Sasha’s gentle voice stroked the burning flames in Sebastian’s heart that he was desperately trying to dowse.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 547
You idiot. You wouldn’t be getting out of that bed for a long time if I didn’t need to worry about your condition. To think you actually doubted me! Didn’t you know that I, your husband, only react to you alone and that I only recognized your scent?
Sebastian pressed his lips onto Sasha’s, feeling a little enraged as he pried her lips open. He was forceful yet sensual as the kiss almost made Sasha go out of breath.
“Are you going to doubt me again?”
“N-No,” Sasha shook her head and denied.
She was shuddering so hard that her knees almost gave in.
With that, Sebastian finally let her off the hook.
After two hours, their private jet took off and left Jetroina.
On the other hand, Yancy was going crazy from the loss she suffered at the press conference and the situation regarding her son. On top of that, the police listed her as a suspect.
“That b*tch! Where is she? Does she think she could just disappear after all the problems she caused?”
She was referring to none other than the fake Sasha.
Her assistant immediately waved her hand, gesturing for the woman, who tried to run away at the conference, to be brought over.
“M-Madam… “
Thud!
With a maniacal expression, Yancy kicked the woman right in the gut.
The woman instantly cried out and fell to the ground because of the pain she felt from the sharp tip of Yancy’s high heels.
Yancy looked closely at the woman; she was unused to seeing that type of expression.
“A btch will always be a btch.” She pulled the woman’s hair up, disregarded her cries, and forced their eyes to meet. “You’ll never beat her, even with a different face!”
“Please, Mrs. Tsurka. Have mercy. Spare me, just this once!”
“Spare you? Who’s going to spare me then? Who was the one who told me that she would take care of everything for me as long as I turned her into Sasha Wand? That she would be able to handle that man!”
Yancy’s eyes were bloodshot at that point as she swung a slap across the woman’s face.
The moment the slap sounded, blood started trickling out of the woman’s nose.
However, she dared not struggle.
She dared not make the slightest of movement as she was in Yancy’s hand.
“I heard that you stole a lot of things from her; Her clothes, her accessories, and even her drafts. I also heard that you lied to your parents that the Wand family treated you really poorly.”
“I… I’m sorry.”
“Do you think saying sorry is enough? I thought you got smarter after dying once, Xenia. Who knew you’re still trying to bite off more than you can chew, and I was actually foolish enough to trust trash like you!” Yancy slapped her again out of extreme frustration.
That’s right. The fake Sasha was none other than Xenia Blackwood, who died in front of Jackson and his wife.
No one would have thought that she would still be alive. Her death had caused so much pain for Sasha since the Blackwoods condemned Sasha for an entire year.
She even caused Sasha to experience the hellish breakup with Sebastian.
It was the first time Sebastian was forced into having split personalities. Sasha had to hide at Moranta’s Wall Street for an entire year because of that.
But what ended up happening was that Xenia appeared out of nowhere with Sasha’s face and tried to take over everything Sasha had.
“Xenia Blackwood. Do you know why his men didn’t take you away?”
Xenia was silent.
“Well, that’s because he knew you were surely going to fall into my hands and that once you do, things are going to be much worse. Do you understand?” Yancy held Xenia’s swollen face up, and Xenia started struggling after hearing what the former said.
“No, that can’t be true! He just forgot about me! There’s no way!” Xenia finally started fighting back, her eyes a hint of madness.
Yancy burst out into a laugh after hearing that.
“Forgot about you? What a joke! Do you know what he did? He went to Jetroina! He already found the real Sasha Wand. His men already infiltrated my Jade Garden and found her during the press conference!”
“No!”
Xenia started shrieking once again.
But in reality, she knew better than anyone else that Yancy was telling the truth.
She had overheard Sebastian picking up the phone and saw the smile he had when he left the day before.
She was the only person he would ever be gentle to. So, he knew I was a fake from the start? Did he put up an act just so he could do what he did at the press conference?
Right then, Xenia recalled how cold Sebastian was the day she left.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 548
On top of that, Sebastian even brought her to Peter’s house and called everyone over. Eventually, Xenia sat down, held her head in her hands, and chuckled maniacally. She realized it was all over.
Seeing that, Yancy immediately gave her another tight slap. “Don’t you dare show me that smile! I lost everything because of you!”
The force was so strong that Xenia’s body tilted to one side. She then slowly straightened up after quite some time, licking the blood on the corner of her mouth as she did.
“You lost everything because of me? Wasn’t it because you gave birth to a worthless son?”
“What did you just say? I dare you to say that again!”
“Am I wrong? They’re both Frederick Hayes’ kin, but the legitimate son is outstanding in every aspect, while your son, the mistress’ son, is just like a shady business—always lacking. If not, he wouldn’t have lost so badly yesterday! Hahahaha.”
Xenia’s laugh at the end hit the nail right on the head, and Yancy’s expression started to distort.
Yancy pulled at her hair stood straight up. After that, she immediately raised her foot and stepped on Xenia’s face with her sharp and pointy heel.
“Ah!”
The room was instantly filled with Xenia’s horrifying cry.
Even the assistant turned her head at the sight of the bloody violence occurring in front of her.
Several minutes later, Xenia stopped breathing.
Death had finally caught up to her after one whole year.
This time, her death was much more gruesome. The flesh on her face resembled a mushed rotten watermelon as they fell to the floor bit by bit as she got carried away.
“We’ll see who’s the real mistress! Sebastian, you b*stard. I’ll get you one day. I’ll let the whole world know who Frederick’s real heir is!”
The woman bellowed menacingly in the room.
Meanwhile, when Sebastian and Sasha got back to the Wand residence, Sabrina was already there.
She was still alive.
Sebastian and Roxanne actually planned for Sabrina to fake her death to lure Xenia out.
Truth be told, Roxanne had fully prepped Sabrina for the poison.
“You’re back. Is everything okay?”
Sabrina was the same as her brother. She did not like to show her concerns. So, even though she was happy to see Sasha, her outward appearance was still that of a cold and intimidating woman.
That said, Sasha already found out from Sebastian how Sabrina was treated after getting caught.
At that moment, Sasha nodded with tears in her eyes and proceeded to embrace Sabrina, rendering the latter speechless.
At a loss, Sabrina froze up unconsciously, even though she was a strong woman who feared nothing.
“What are you doing? Let go of me!”
“I’m just celebrating the fact that we both got away safely. I’m sure our lives will only get better from here.” Sasha gave Sabrina a wide-eyed smile after letting go.
“I’m Sabrina Hayes, the lady of the Hayes family! Is my life not good enough?” Sabrina responded with disdain.
“Um… “
Sasha was at a total loss for words. She ended up just grabbing her luggage and headed upstairs, leaving Sabrina behind.
That day, Sasha and Sabrina were the only ones at home since the kids and Wendy were not at home while Sebastian left for the company.
It was only until dark that Sabrina suddenly brought up visiting the Hayes residence.
“My dad’s gone. If I don’t go back now, there would be nothing left to go back to.”
Sasha was quiet as Sabrina’s statement was saddening to hear.
She only found out about what happened to Frederick after she got back. She would have never thought that the man that changed her life forever would be gone.
He’s already gone… so should the grudges.
“Sure. I’ll talk to your brother about it. See if we could all move there.”
“Really?” Sabrina’s eyes lit up after hearing that.
“Yes.” Sasha nodded. “You’re right. Now that your father is gone, Sebastian is the new head of the Hayes family. It’s only natural that he moves into the Hayes Residence.”
Sasha was very considerate and made up her mind to move there with her husband.
However, this decision would come back to haunt her soon enough as it would only agitate their enemies even more.
“Mrs. Tsurka, I heard that Sebastian Hayes and the whole family had moved into the Hayes residence today.”
Snip!
One of the peonies in the yard was cut in half, dropping to the floor instantly.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 549
After two days, at the Hayes Residence.
After moving in with the kids, everyone in the house got along swimmingly. No one felt unused to it because they had all gone through the crisis.
“Sasha, have you had your meal? We have some cake and home-made juice at our place. I can bring them over if you’d like.”
“Oh, you’re too kind, Cheryl.”
It was Thanksgiving, so Sasha and Wendy were busy getting ready and had not cooked just yet when Ethan’s wife came over to ask them to try some food that she had made.
“Don’t say that. We’re family. Even if you’re not hungry, I’m sure the kids are famished at this point. Let me bring them over to let them have it first.”
Cheryl was quick on her feet and ran to the yard to call the kids over.
After a few minutes, she brought the kids in, along with Frieda behind her, and left.
“Madam, the atmosphere in this household right now is simply wonderful,” Wendy gushed.
Sasha nodded. “Yeah. Maybe their eyes were finally opened after what had happened.”
She was sincerely grateful as no one knew the house better than Sasha did. The family was in shambles when she first got there. Everyone was going against everyone else in the family.
All of them had their plots and ploys and were vastly different from how they were in front of others. It was among the worst days Sasha had ever experienced.
“I agree. Now that everyone is on the same boat, things became a lot better. I only wish Mr. Hayes could be here to see it.”
Wendy started feeling down as she spoke.
Sasha, on the other hand, did not respond. At that moment, she was feeling the same.
It was truly regrettable.
Maybe he is still watching over us in heaven? He’ll be happy to see how harmonious the family is right now.
It was already late in the afternoon when everything finally finished.
“I’ll go cook now, Madam.”
“Alright. I’ll clean up and bring some things over to my place. My brother’s the only one at home right now,” Sasha said as she packed up some stuff.
Lance was the only one left in the Wand residence after Sasha moved out. She wanted to ask him to move with him, but he refused and told her that he wanted to wait for his father to come back.
Thus, she had no other choice but leave him be.
After she packed up, Frieda suddenly came back. “Are you bringing some food over to Sebby?” She asked after seeing the things Sasha had with her.
“No. These are for my brother, mom. Are you hungry? I can get you some food right now if you are.”
Nonetheless, Frieda did not reply her.
Her condition did not seem to be getting any better.
“Brother? You mean, Uncle?”
“Huh?” Sasha was puzzled for quite some time before realizing that Frieda was using the way the kids addressed Lance.
“Yeah. Uncle.”
“I want to go too. I want to see Rufus! Let me come with you!” Frieda actually said Sasha’s father’s name and was eager to join her.
Sasha was astonished by what she just heard.
She just got back from Jetroina not long ago, so she did not know much about the woman who appeared out of the blue in front of her.
The only thing she knew was whatever Sebastian briefly told her previously. She did not know that Frieda knew her father and that they were this close.
“Mom. Do you… Know my dad?”
“Of course! Rufus, Shin, and my brother-in-law were always together! They look amazing in their military uniforms.”
The senile old lady crouched down and raised the lollipop she had as soon as she started talking about that. Her eyes glistened like the stars at night.
Sasha went quiet after that.
Does that mean Dad, Shin, and Frederick stayed together in the military?
Sasha was astounded by the information she just got as she had never heard about it from her father.
When Sasha arrived at the Wand residence, Lance told her that he got a call from the prison, telling him that her father was free to go.
That’s great news!
Sasha was really excited, so she immediately called Sebastian. “Sebby, my dad is free to go. Could you come with me to fetch him?” She asked with anticipation in her eyes.
She was not usually this coquettish. If it were the old her, she would have gone there by herself.
That said, at that very moment, Sasha just felt the need to bring Sebastian along. It was like he was now part of her, and she could not do anything without him.
Currently, Sebastian was in a very important meeting.
But when he got the call, he agreed without hesitation, “Sure. Where are you right now? I’ll head over.”
Returning from the Dead Chapter 550
“I’m at hom— Oh wait. I’m at the Wand residence. Come quickly then. I’ll wait for you.”
Sasha ended the call happily.
She was going to see her father after all those years, so how could she not be?
Moreover, the timing was perfect. Everything had just calmed down; it was like God was doing it on purpose.
And after half an hour, Sebastian arrived.
“Why are you wearing so little? Did you not know that it’s going to be cold today?”
That was the first thing Sebastian said after he got out of the car and saw Sasha; he mentioned nothing about Sasha’s father.
Hearing that, Sasha looked at herself and realized that she had forgotten to put on her coat because she was too excited.
That said, before she could retrieve it, Sebastian had already taken off his coat and placed it on her.
“Alright. Now, get on.”
“Okay!”
The lingering warmth Sasha felt from the coat made her feel loved.
With that, she forwent the notion of retrieving her coat and hopped into the car.
“Hey, are you guys staying after fetching Uncle Rufus back? If you are, I’ll get some groceries and make some food,” Lance asked after hurrying over.
“It’s fine. We’ll eat out. I’ve made a reservation for the entire family.” Sebastian made the simple yet assertive decision.
And of course, the entire family meant the Hayes, as well as the Blackwoods.
What he said warmed Sasha’s heart.
She was happy to hear that her father would be welcomed by those that were closest to them.
When they reached the prison, Sasha finally got to see that giant steel door open, and out came a hunched middle-aged man with silver hair in casualwear.
He was waiting anxiously outside.
“Dad!”
Sasha teared up when she saw him.
As soon as the car stopped, she immediately got out and ran straight toward the man waiting outside.
Seeing that, Sebastian figured he should stop the engine and got out.
It was the first time he and his father-in-law officially met since there was no wedding ceremony. Besides, Rufus was already jailed because of his bankruptcy prior to that.
They could not have met back then, let alone during the five years Sasha went missing.
Hence, technically, this was the two men’s first meeting.
Sebastian walked over right then.
But the father and daughter were too caught up. They were talking non-stop in each other’s embrace and took a long time before finally calming down. It was then that Sasha seemed to have remembered something and turned toward Sebastian with her bloodshot eyes.
“Sebastian… Come.”
Sebastian kept quiet.
So, no more Sebby in front of your dad? Just Sebastian now?
He was a little unhappy about it but still decided to take a step forward.
“Dad, this is Sebastian. He’s here to bring you home with me.”
Sasha tried her best to please her father before she introduced Sebastian to him. She knew that her father was actually against their marriage back then.
However, what came after surprised Sasha.
“Thank you for everything, Sebastian,” Rufus said with a calm smile after seeing his son-in-law.
“It’s no problem, sir.”
Sebastian was caught off guard at Rufus’ response. His mind went blank as he froze there for a while. It was the first time he ever felt at a loss, and Sasha noticed it.
She actually felt like laughing out loud but quickly went over to help him ease up as she happily took both of them by the arm.
“Alright now. Let’s quit standing here and head back. Sebastian’s made reservations tonight to celebrate your return, Dad. We need to wash up and head over to the hotel.”
Rufus’ eyes turned watery as he said, “Okay. Thank you.” He knew that Sasha intentionally coined his release as a celebration.
After that, the lot got in the car and headed back.
Both the Hayes and the Blackwoods were thrilled to receive such great news after the storm they just went through that night.
It was especially so for Jackson and his wife.
They went to visit as soon as they received the news about Rufus’ release.
Sasha was delighted to see them and eventually decided to leave the space to the three of them as she did not know what else she could do. So she took Sebastian outside with her.
“Sebby. Thank you for picking him up with me. All thanks to you, the family can reunite as soon as my dad was released. I wouldn’t even dream of all these if it was before,” Sasha suddenly said when she saw their elongated shadows under the street light.
They were slowly walking toward the parking lot at the moment.
As soon as she finished her words, Sebastian’s footsteps came to a halt.
