Ch. 781..790
Returning from the Dead Chapter 781
At that moment, Jonathan’s face was devoid of expression.
Nonetheless, Sabrina could not care less about what others might think of her. After she finally brought down all those men, she jumped toward the man in the bed and hugged him tightly.
“Sebastian, how do you feel? Don’t worry. I’m here. I won’t let them bully you anymore. I’m here to take you home.”
At that moment, Sabrina stared at Sebastian’s pale look and his body covered in wounds.
She felt a knife stabbing through her heart as her eyes brimmed with tears. She lowered her body, trying to get him up.
“Miss, what’re you trying to do? You can’t move him…”
“Take her away now!”
Jonathan shouted furiously as he ordered his men to take Sabrina down.
Only then did Devin come to his senses.
“Grandpa, please don’t be mad. She is Sabrina, Sebastian’s sister from the Hayes. Maybe she doesn’t comprehend the situation. She got all emotional after hearing Sebastian’s cry.”
Devin immediately tried to ease the tension while secretly cursing in his heart.
What the h*ll does she think she is doing?
To his relief, even though Jonathan was still mad after hearing the explanation, he did not further insist on sending Sabrina away.
“Who allowed her to come up here?”
“Sorry. I’ll take her away right now!”
Devin was indeed a fast-witted man. As he noticed Jonathan’s enraged tone, he swiftly rushed toward Sabrina, who was grabbing Sebastian’s arms and seized her.
“What’re you doing? Let go of me! I want to take him away from this place!” Sabrina, who was overwhelmed with her emotions, struggled fiercely.
Devin was stumped by her reaction.
Unable to collect himself, he cast a furious glare at her. “Are you out of your mind? They’re trying to save him. He refused to let the doctor inject him with medicine. That’s why Grandpa ordered his men to hold him down!”
Sabrina was left without retort.
After a long while, she calmed down a little and finally let go of Sebastian’s arm. As such, she followed Devin out.
I have enough of this woman!
It took a couple of hours before everything went back to normal.
By then, Sabrina, who had cleared her thoughts, realized how inappropriate her behavior was earlier. She sat on the couch in the hall, with her heart utterly worried.
“Devin, will your grandfather chase me out?”
“You don’t have to worry…”
Devin indeed had a good temper. Even at this point, he could still bear with her patiently.
Upon hearing that, Sabrina let out a sigh of relief.
As they were waiting, a young lady suddenly emerged from outside. She was carrying bags of stuff in her arms, panting heavily.
“Kira? Did you go and buy groceries again?” As soon as Devin noticed the lady, he rose from his seat and walked toward her.
Kira was the one that Jonathan hired as a chef in Oceanic Estate after their family banquet.
Needless to say, she was delighted to see Devin.
“Yes. Grandpa says he wants to eat steak. So I went to buy some, along with some fresh vegetables. Devin, you’re going to stay for dinner too, right?”
Kira replied gently as she handed over the stuff in her hands to Devin.
Upon hearing that, Devin let out a smile.
His smile was so gentle that even Sabrina got startled by it.
She had never seen such a warm smile from him.
He sometimes smiled at Sabrina too, but it was out of courtesy. Even though his face was smiling, Sabrina could sense the coldness in his eyes and the distance between them.
I wonder who this lady is?
With that, Sabrina got up and went into the kitchen too.
“Devin, who is she? Don’t you want to introduce her to me?” As usual, Sabrina cut to the chase.
Devin turned his head while furrowing his brows.
He was somehow reluctant to introduce his cousin.
“She… is my cousin. Her name is Kira. She’s a chef at Oceanic Estate.”
“I see. So she’s a relative.”
Upon hearing that, Sabrina heaved a sigh of relief.
Since they’re blood related, I don’t need to worry.
Sabrina was about to get back to her couch.
Just then, Kira noticed Sabrina’s existence as she shifted her gaze toward the latter whose style was more fashionable than her.
With that, her heart skipped a beat.
“Devin, who is she by the way?”
“She is Sabrina, Sebastian’s sister from the Hayes. She came here to look after Sebastian.”
It was evident that Devin showed more patience toward Kira.
At that moment, a concern suddenly caught up in his mind. Sabrina is so arrogant and attention-seeking. I wonder if she would give Kira trouble if both of them were to stay here together.
After all, he was fully aware of how difficult it was to please the daughter of the Hayes.
Indeed, Kira went pale upon finding out Sabrina’s identity.
So she’s a wealthy heiress. No wonder she has such a domineering aura in her look and aura. And her behavior is so generous and elegant.
At that instant, Kira suddenly thought humbly of herself.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 782
“Devin, I agree with your cousin. You must come over more often for dinner. Otherwise, I’ll get into trouble left on my own.”
“You still get into trouble?”
“I still do. I almost did just now, didn’t I?”
Sabrina stroked her hair and smiled awkwardly.
Devin agreed in silence.
It was like the sun rising in the west. Sabrina Hayes who had never ever admitted to her own faults, actually confessed that she got into trouble.
Finally, Devin hurriedly grunted in reply and left.
Sabrina followed and caught up with him. “Say something! What do you mean by that? I tell you, if you are not here, I really can’t promise to not provoke your Grandpa with my temper.”
Devin was silent.
For a long time, Kira stood at the kitchen door, without moving an inch, watching the two of them.
Her face was a shade of white.
She knew full well that the secret love she kept in her heart would never be reciprocated. Their status in society was too far apart from each other.
Yet, whenever she saw him with other women, talking, laughing and then leaving with them, she felt a sharp pain in her heart like it was being cut with a knife. It was so painful that she could hardly breathe.
Why did fate deal her such a cruel blow?
She went back into the kitchen like a robot…
When Jonathan came down, Devin was already outside his study, waiting for him with Sabrina.
“Grandpa, how is Sebastian?”
“What else? This is just the first two days, it’s going to be tough!”
Jonathan had just come down from upstairs. Tired as he was, seeing the woman beside his grandson, he replied impatiently.
When Devin saw this, he hurriedly tried to pacify both parties. “Sabrina didn’t know any better so she was impulsive. Don’t be angry, Grandpa. She called me and offered to take care of him. That’s why she is here since she knows that our family members do not know his daily routine and habits.”
He put it so beautifully.
Sabrina cast him a sidelong glance and she was pleased to see this man by her side, speaking so well of her on her behalf.
So, she smiled happily.
Jonathan asked, “Why are you smiling?”
Sabrina shook her head: “It’s nothing, Old Mr. Jadeson. To express my apologies, may I invite you for a drink? How about Yellow Dune Chardonnay from Shanty Town?”
“What did you say?” Frederick’s eyes widened questioningly.
Devin felt as if his heart was beating at top speed and for a long time, he felt that his limbs were completely cold!
What is she up to? Devin was dumbfounded.
“Old Mr. Jadeson, don’t you remember Shanty Town? When you were at war, you liked the wine there very much.”
Jonathan was speechless.
“However, there is no more winery there since it is now a metropolis. Therefore, the few bottles of Yellow Dune Chardonnay I kept may be limited edition, and it may be what you drank back then.”
Sabrina frowned as she tried to recollect the exact year the wine was made.
Finally, the moment she finished talking, the old man immediately banged the table and got up all excited.
“Are you certain?”
“Absolutely certain, Old Mr. Jadeson, to be honest with you, I have a wine cellar and a good collection too, because I love drinking. Stuff like Yellow Dune Chardonnay, Lugyanger Bianca, Dom Zerignon… Oh, yes, there is one with a strange name, in a green glass bottle, but it doesn’t taste so good, I’m going to throw it away.”
“Don’t you dare!” Jonathan cursed aloud, “You brainless fool, that’s Jasper Yale! It’s no longer in production!”
There was total silence.
In the study, one could hear a pin drop.
As for Devin, he gaped as he stared at the woman as if he had seen a ghost. It was like he didn’t know her.
Is she speaking the truth?
Why don’t I know anything about this?
The truth was that he never took the time to understand this woman.
Talking about Sabrina Hayes…
Sabrina was the daughter of the Hayes family. She was neither uneducated nor ignorant. On the contrary, she had been in charge of the Hayes Corporation for several years. She must have had considerable skills and intellect to shoulder such a heavy responsibility.
She must also own a considerable amount of properties and possessions.
When Devin recovered from his shock, Sabrina and Jonathan were already on the observation tower.
Not long afterward, a car drove up with the two bottles of wine which were still stained with dust. They were brought in and carried up to the observation tower.
“This is genuine Yellow Dune Chardonnay. Well, little girl, I have really underestimated you.” Jonathan recognized the wine instantly. Right there and then, his eyes were filled with amazement at the young girl standing before him.
Sabrina laughed.
Bringing out two glasses, she filled one for each of them.
“Old Mr. Jadeson, you have exaggerated. When my brother was still young, I had to help Dad take care of the family business. Hence, it is expected that I own some collection like these. So, this glass of wine…”
She raised the glass of wine.
Seeing that, Jonathan picked up his glass as well.
“Old Mr. Jadeson, with this glass of wine, I show you my respect. My brother has a bad temper; hence, he might offend you as a newcomer. However, my dear sir, please overlook his faults for the sake of the Hayes family who has nurtured and brought him up.
It was so unexpected of this young woman to speak as if she was the head of the Hayes family.
Jonathan was stunned.
As for Devin, who was standing nearby, he literally gaped and stared at her with an incredulous expression on his face.
Has she gone mad?
She had dared to speak as if she was the head of the Hayes family and even mentioned that the Hayes nurtured and brought up Sebastian.
Devin regretted agreeing to bring her here.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 783
“You are extremely daring. Even if your father were alive, he would not dare to speak like this in my presence!”
Finally, Jonathan spoke his mind.
He had lifted the glass of wine and his gaze was cold. His countenance was obviously unpleasant.
Sabrina saw that but she was undaunted.
“You are wrong. If my Dad were alive, he would have said the same words. At that time, he risked his life, knowing he could be killed anytime to save my brother and his mother. So, doesn’t he have the right to say those words to you?”
She was all smiles as she raised her glass and clinked it with Jonathan’s.
Jonathan was too shocked to reply.
Devin was shocked speechless.
They had seen lots of fearless women. For example, two of the Jadeson women, Candice and Tiffany were daring and unafraid of disputes and controversies.
However, at this moment, as they encountered Sabrina’s spunk, they realized that none of them could match up to her dominant temperament!
The Jadesons’ family members were courageous because they were under the umbrella of the Jadesons.
The woman in front of them was arrogant because of who she was.
Jonathan finally lowered his eyes, laughed and without saying anything more, drank the wine from his glass.
Seeing his reaction, Sabrina drank hers too heartily.
Devin watched the scene in amazed wonderment.
He had really underestimated this woman in the past.
After finishing the two bottles of wine, everything was settled and Jonathan forgave Sabrina. It was because of these two bottles of wine and her wine cellar that she successfully stayed on at Oceanic Estate.
“Let her live in the bedroom where that doctor used to stay.”
“Yes, Grandpa .”
Immediately, Devin went over to help the drunk woman to her room.
Suddenly, Sabrina shook her finger in Devin’s face. “No, I want to live in my little brother, Sebastian’s place. I want.. to stay with him!”
Devin was taken by surprise.
Instantly, Jonathan’s countenance changed. He was rather afraid of letting her live there.
Immediately, he supported her and led her away.
“Devin, is Ms. Hayes drunk? Would you like me to take her?”
Right at the door of the lift, Kira suddenly appeared. Seeing her cousin, Devin helping the tipsy Sabrina, she rushed over to hold her in place of him.
As a man, how can he just hold a woman this way?
Kira’s hands were stretched out towards her…
“Hold it!” The totally drunk and red-faced Sabrina suddenly opened her eyes.
“What are you trying to do? I… I don’t want you to touch me. I don’t want your support. I want him to support me.”
Sabrina pushed away Kira’s hands and looked at Devin with drunken eyes. Then she put both arms around his neck.
Devin reacted in shock!
He nearly dropped the inebriated drunk down onto the floor.
Watching the scene close by, Kira’s face turned white and flames of fury burned in her eyes.
“Ms. Hayes, you…”
“Devin, you are so good-looking. Why don’t you like me? I really like you so much. Is it because I am not pretty? Or do you think my family is not worthy of you?”
Sabrina was completely drunk and delirious. After she put her arms around his neck, she confessed her love for him openly.
Instantly, every housemaid turned to look at her, gaping and wide-eyed including Kira.
Oh, my goodness!
This woman is gutsy! She has openly confessed her love for Mr. Jadeson!
Devin’s countenance turned. “Sabrina, what are you saying? You’re drunk!”
“No, I’m not drunk. I… I really like you and you… you knew it too.” Sabrina giggled and lifted her face to kiss him.
She has gone too far!
Kira’s whole body trembled!
Is this really a daughter of a wealthy family?
How could she be so shameless? Right here in public, she behaves in such a way towards a man. Is this the teaching of the Hayes?
Kira totally lost it. With one leap, she went forward and pulled Sabrina’s arms from Devin’s neck.
“Kira?”
“Devin, she’s drunk. Let me help her to her room!’
She became a totally different person, all her usual gentleness and coquettishness was gone. Her face was cold and frosty as she dragged Sabrina into the elevator.
Devin frowned as he watched what was going on.
Just a moment ago, when Sabrina was lustful and amorous, he had really wanted to drop her.
However, seeing her being dragged into the elevator, he became worried if a girl like Kira would let her fall. If Sabrina fell down, what should he tell Sebastian when he woke up?
Devin watched for a while.
After the elevator door shut, he turned around and went off.
Oh, well. I don’t care.
With that, Devin left Oceanic Estate
What he did not know was that just after he left, Sabrina was dragged upstairs and thrown onto the bed by Kira the moment they went into the bedroom.
“Why are you so shameless? Are all of you rich daughters like this? Go all out and get the man if you like him!”
As Kira glared at her, her delicate little face was so full of anger that it looked terrifying.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 784
However, Sabrina could no longer hear anything anymore. She was so drunk and was completely unconscious.
When Kira saw that, she became even more furious.
She stared at Sabrina’s arms.
Those arms had gone around Devin’s neck, and she had even flirted with him.
The jealousy within Kira was growing like a vine. She left and returned with a handful of sand. Then, she proceeded to rub Sabrina’s arms with it.
“Mmm…”
In her drunkenness, Sabrina could not help but groan in pain.
Nonetheless, the high alcohol content in her system confused her mind and helped to numb the pain. All Sabrina did was moan twice.
Thereafter, there was no more reaction.
When that happened, Kira got even more infuriated, and she rubbed harder with great resentment.
By the time she was done, Sabrina’s fair and smooth arms had become a bloody mess.
Kira left.
Before she left, she cleared up the place before closing the door.
“Ms. Kira, is Ms. Hayes all right?”
When Kira went downstairs, the housemaids saw her and could not help but ask.
She glanced at them coldly and said, “She’s asleep. If there’s nothing urgent, don’t disturb her.”
After that, Kira went to the kitchen.
There was not much that the housemaids could say with regard to that.
The next day, Sabrina was woken up by the pain in her arms.
“Ah!”
She cried out in agony and saw that her arms were in a bloody mess. After one night, some of her blood had stained the bedsheet as well.
Crap!
It hurt so much that sweat broke out all over her forehead.
What happened to me yesterday?
How did my arms become like this?
She struggled to get out of bed and went to open the door. “Help! I need help!”
She was met with silence. Under Jonathan’s instruction, the housemaids were barred from coming into this floor.
Sh*t!
When she realized what had happened, a curse word escaped from her mouth. There was no choice for her but to go upstairs.
If she recalled correctly, there was a doctor in Sebastian’s room the previous day.
Sabrina arrived upstairs.
Thankfully, Sebastian was in a much better condition than the previous day. Furthermore, he had only just woken up.
“Sebastian, you’re up. Quick, get your doctor to come and take a look for me. D*mn it! It hurts so bad. I have no idea what has happened. My arms…”
The moment she saw him, it was like seeing her savior.
Sebastian glanced at her indifferently.
Who the hell is she?
He could not remember.
However, he had heard about what had happened the day before, so when his eyes went from her messy hair to her arms, his eyes narrowed.
“What happened to you?”
“What?” Sabrina looked at him and replied, “I have no idea. I got drunk last night. When I woke up, my arms are already in this state.”
She looked at her arms in a daze.
Sebastian said nothing.
He glanced at her like she was a fool and went to press a button by his bed. Soon, the doctor in charge of his rehabilitation arrived.
“Mr. Sebastian, how can I help you?”
Sebastian pointed at Sabrina without any expression before walking into the bathroom.
It was only then the doctor looked at Sabrina.
“Oh gosh! Ms. Hayes, what happened to your arms? How did they become like this?” Even the doctor was shocked to see the horrific injuries.
Sabrina was getting tired of answering the question. “I don’t know.”
The doctor remained quiet.
After he took a look, the doctor applied some iodine to disinfect her wounds. Upon a closer look, he commented,” This looks like abrasions. Ms. Hayes, did you fall and hurt yourself?”
“What?”
Sabrina looked up once again. “Fall? No. I was drunk yesterday. When I woke up this morning, I was already laying in bed.”
“Well, it looks like a fall. Then again, I’m not so sure. If it’s a fall, then your elbow and outer arm should be injured instead of your wrist.”
The doctor eyed her injuries in puzzlement.
Just then, Sebastian walked out from the bathroom, and upon hearing what the doctor had said, he came over as well.
For the past few days, he was not feeling that good because of his addiction issue. However, his mind was still as sharp as ever when he was awake.
Sebastian stared quietly at her arms for a while.
“Round scars… Interesting,” he sneered.
Sabrina looked up immediately.
“What do you mean? What’s a round scar?”
“Can’t you see? When you got drunk last night, you must have placed your arms into the meat grinder,” said Sebastian sarcastically before leaving the room.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 785
Sabrina had no idea what he was trying to do. All she could do was watch him leave.
Meat grinder?
Is he sick? Why would I put my own arms into the meat grinder?
No matter how drunk I was, I would never do that!
Ten minutes later, the doctor finished bandaging her wounds. She then quickly went downstairs.
“Sebastian, where are you?”
She was worried that he had gone away to other places. It would not be ideal if he suffered a relapse.
Little did she expect to see him in her own room.
“Sebastian, what are you doing here? Are you looking for something?” She walked in and saw that searching for something in particular.
There was no answer from Sebastian.
He walked to her bed and found some sand covered in blood under it.
Sabrina went over and asked, “What’s this?”
Still, there was no response from him.
He left with the sand in his hand. Not long after, Sabrina got to the third floor and saw that his bodyguards were already there.
“Is there a CCTV outside the bedroom downstairs?”
“No.”
“Then check how she got back last night,” instructed Sebastian while pointing at Sabrina. After the walkabout, Sebastian was already feeling tired and began perspiring, so he sat down on a chair.
His bodyguards had no idea what had happened.
Still, since he ordered them to do so, they got down to work immediately.
Sabrina was watching him by the side. After the guards left, she rushed over to him when she saw more and more beads of perspiration appearing on his forehead.
“What’s wrong with you? Are you all right?”
“Get out!”
All of a sudden, his voice changed as it was a little hoarse and had a coldness that was different from before.
Sabrina was taken aback.
In that moment, she understood. Her face turned pale, and her fingers started trembling.
Actually, she knew how it felt like to experience a relapse of drug addiction.
When Sebastian came back and took over Hayes Corporation from her, she fell in love with a man as part of her revenge.
It turned out that the man was Hayes Corporation’s competitor, and in order to obtain confidential information about Hayes Corporation, that man injected her with drugs.
That was her first time, and she would never forget the ordeal.
Luckily, her dad rescued her on one condition that she never get involved with Hayes Corporation again.
The second time had something to do with Sasha.
When Sasha was abducted and brought to Jetroina, Sabrina was once again injected with the latest drug by Yancy whom she had never gotten along with since she was young. After which, she was to be sent off to Smealand.
That time, she had nearly lost her life.
If it were not for Devin and Sebastian, she would have been dead.
Sabrina looked at Sebastian and saw the expression of pain starting to appear on that handsome face of his. She quickly ran to retrieve the first aid kit and started to rummage through it frantically.
“Ms. Hayes, what are you doing?”
“Where is the antagonist? Inject him with it now!”
She started panicking.
The doctor was surprised.
He walked over to her and shut the medical kit. “Ms. Hayes, antagonists won’t work on him. Whatever that has been injected into him is the latest innovation. The only way he can overcome it is through his own willpower.”
“What? Willpower?”
Sabrina, who was already distraught, started yelling.
Willpower?
How can anybody be expected to deal with such agonizing torture with just his own willpower? Is the doctor crazy?
Sabrina did not believe a single word the doctor said, but shockingly, Sebastian, who was about to lose his clarity of mind, uttered two words through gritted teeth, “Get out!”
Sabrina was stunned.
She froze and looked at him in a daze.
After a long while, it was with much anguish that she left the room.
How can I save him this time?
Sabrina squatted outside the room and felt as if she were in hell. She had no idea how long she was outside and listening to the painful howls of his. Her tears flowed, stopped, and started all over again.
Even when the bodyguards came and looked for her, it was as if she could not hear them.
“Ms. Hayes, we have already found out. It was Ms. Kira Woods who sent you back last night.”
“What?”
She gawked at them.
After that, they handed her a phone. It showed the period when she came back the night before.
It was true that Devin’s cousin, Kira was the one who had sent her up to her room. The strange part was after settling Sabrina in the room, Kira went out again.
By the time she came back, there was something in her hand.
What’s that?
A stunned look appeared on Sabrina’s face. Now, she understood what Sebastian had meant. She stared at the woma
n on the screen, and her eyes narrowed!
Bloody b*tch! How dare she?
Returning from the Dead Chapter 786
“Ms. Hayes, did you notice something?” the bodyguard asked when he realize she was staring intently.
Sabrina didn’t reply.
For a fleeting moment, she felt the urge to expose the perpetrator. Whoever dared to harm her had to pay.
However, the thought of her suffering brother in the room behind them caused her to hold her tongue. Swallowing her words, her clenched fingers began to relax.
“Mmm-hmm. I’m done with it. I might have fallen by accident as I had too much to drink yesterday.”
“I see. In that case, please have a good rest.”
The bodyguards didn’t suspect anything further after watching the video feeds.
With that, they took their leave.
As for Sabrina, she stayed back and waited for Sebastian to calm down in the room.
She knew she had to endure whatever that was thrown at her. Only by doing so could she stay back and care for her brother.
Feeling tormented, she took out her phone.
Sabrina: How was your operation? Was it successful?
A long while passed before a voice clip was received.
Sabrina put it on speaker.
Sasha replied, “Yes it was. But, I can’t open my eyes yet. So, I’m sending you voice messages instead.”
“That’s good. You should rest if it’s not convenient to talk.”
Meanwhile, over at Jetroina, Sasha had her face bandaged and was barely able to speak. When she realized Sabrina was going to end their conversation, she quickly sent another recording over. “Wait, how are things at your end? Is your brother… all right?”
Yes, how is he? It’s been five days since then. Will he be able to resist his addiction?
As a doctor, Sasha was cognizant about how hard it was. Hence, she was extremely worried.
However, she didn’t expect Sabrina to send her a voice message all of a sudden.
“Sasha, will you sing a song with me?”
Sasha was stumped.
“Anything will do. Someone set me up in this wretched place. The f*cking Jadesons are terrible people. So, sing a song to comfort me please.”
Together with the voice message, she attached a picture of her hands being wrapped with bandages.
Sasha was outraged by the picture.
Those animals!
After taking a moment to calm down, Sasha brought up her phone and began to record a song, enduring the pain while singing.
“Waiting for the time to pass you by, Hope the winds of change will change your mind…”
As Sasha’s therapeutic voice rang out from the phone, it felt as if she was holding one’s face and lifting one out of the dark abyss.
Lifting one’s head, one could see and be captivated by how her eyes sparkled.
Meanwhile, the roars in the bedroom gradually stopped. As Sebastian curled up on the ground like a trapped beast, he pricked his ears and began listening intently.
It sounded familiar to him.
In fact, it felt as if the most important person in the world to him was calling out gently to him. Encouraging him to stand up and continue moving forward to where she was waiting for him…
“I could give a thousand reasons, but you’re going,
and you know that…”
“Sasha…”
With his bloody lips, Sebastian finally called out her name before losing consciousness.
After that, the room finally fell silent.
That day was when his attack lasted the shortest.
The doctor was thrilled by the progress. At the same time, Sabrina grabbed her phone from the window and rushed in when she realized how effective it was.
……
Meanwhile, Kira was feeling unsettled over the last two days.
Worried about being found out, she didn’t dare to visit Oceanic Estate until she heard that Devin had returned.
She gave the housemaid at Red Pavilion a call. “Has Devin gone to Oceanic Estate?”
“Yes, he has. Ms. Kira, aren’t you going over? Mrs. Jadeson has been complaining that you haven’t been visiting Oceanic Estate lately.”
The housemaid conveyed Jasmine’s thoughts.
If it were any other time, Kira would have readily rejected it with a random excuse.
But this time, Devin would be there.
The thought of Sabrina throwing herself at Devin wantonly caused Kira to grab her bag and hurry out.
Forty minutes later, she arrived at Oceanic Estate. When she saw the familiar olive-green jeep parked outside, her heart skipped a beat before she entered.
“Ms. Kira, welcome.”
“Mmm-hmm, where are Old Mr. Jadeson and the rest?”
She didn’t dare to enquire about Devin. Hence, she asked about Jonathan instead.
The housemaid pointed at the back of the castle. “They are at the training room. Mr. Hayes has been able to move in the last two days. Hence, Old Mr. Jadeson has begun his physical training gradually.”
“Alright.”
With that, Kira headed to the training room.
However, the moment she arrived, she was shocked to find Devin and Sabrina fighting tooth and nail inside instead of Sebastian.
At the same time, Jonathan was watching excitedly by the side.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 787
“Argh!”
Inside the training room that was painted green, Sabrina was in sports attire and had tied her hair into a ponytail. She was not cowed by the belligerent atmosphere of the room.
Instead, she was pushed back two steps after being hit by Devin.
Gritting her teeth, she roared ferociously before springing off the ground and unleashing a whirlwind kick in Devin’s direction.
What a fearsome attack!
Jonathan gave her a look of admiration.
As for Devin, he had not expected Sabrina to remain defiant despite being heavily pressured by him. The moment he saw her kick flying his way, the only thing he could do was to raise his hands to block.
Finally, the fight went on for another ten minutes.
Sipping coffee while watching, Jonathan casually remarked, “Frederick has raised his daughter very well.”
Meanwhile, Sebastian sat expressionless by the side.
He was utterly exhausted after doing twenty push-ups and running for twenty minutes. Given his current physical condition, that took the wind out of him.
“Definitely better than you.”
Sebastian’s quip almost caused Jonathan to crush the cup he was holding.
However, after shooting Sebastian a glare, he let the insult slide.
After all, from all that had happened recently, it was obvious the Jadeson children paled in comparison to the Hayes. Although the members of the Hayes family were only a handful, Frederick had at least taught the siblings to support each other in times of crisis, never forgetting that they were family.
Hence, Jonathan remained silent.
After a while, Kira, who had been watching in the shadows, stepped out.
“Granduncle.”
“Hmm?” Jonathan turned around. “Kira? You’re finally here.”
“Yes, I am. Sorry, I haven’t been able to cook here lately as I was busy at the White House.”
Jonathan waved at her and gestured to come over. “Don’t worry about it. I’m glad to see you here. Come and have some coffee with me.”
Kira was relieved to hear his response. After all, her cooking skills were her trump card. Hence, she wasn’t worried about Jonathan resenting her.
She personally poured him a cup of coffee before settling on the small bench by his side.
She pretended to look at the training ground in surprise and asked, “I didn’t know Ms. Hayes is such a formidable fighter.”
“Haha, she’s a rare breed. But let me tell you, she’s an excellent fighter.”
Jonathan didn’t hide his adoration for Sabrina at all.
As jealousy began welling up within her, Kira sharpened her gaze at Sabrina.
Suddenly, she noticed an even icier gaze fall upon her.
It felt as if something was crawling up on her back, sending a chill down her spine. In fact, she even spilled some of her coffee while she shuddered.
“What’s wrong? Is it too hot?” Jonathan asked quizzically.
Shaking her head anxiously, Kira recovered her gaze. “No… No, it’s not. I was just jolted by how ferocious their fight was.”
“In that case, you should watch more of it. It’s not good for a lady to be lacking in courage,” Jonathan casually commented.
Before she could even calm down, Kira was jolted by another disheartening comment.
At the end of the day, Jonathan, who had spent his entire life in the military, preferred ladies who were valiant.
Naturally, Kira’s resentment of Sabrina further intensified.
After more than ten minutes, Sabrina could no longer continue. In the face of Devin’s impregnable defense, she finally gave up attacking and admitted defeat.
“I give up. I can’t beat you.”
Drenched in sweat, Sabrina dropped to the ground butt first and refused to get up.
Devin was amused by the sight.
To have been able to hold her ground against him for such a long time was by itself an achievement.
She had just learned how to fight for a couple of years while he had gone through specialized training and was the instructor of the army’s elites. Hence, there was no way she could best him in the first place.
Devin offered his hand with a smile. “You did great. Get up now.”
Sabrina didn’t reply.
Drenched in sweat, Sabrina accepted Devin’s masculine hands and let him pull her up.
“There’s no need to praise me. I know that you were holding back just now.”
“No, I didn’t.”
“Tsk!”
Sabrina wasn’t bothered to argue any further. When both of them saw the spectators, Sabrina greeted Jonathan before moving over to Sebastian’s side.
“Sebastian, how do you feel? Did the workout just now cause any discomfort?”
“No.” Sebastian answered coldly.
Sabrina smiled before joining the others for coffee.
“Ms. Hayes, please have a seat and take a break.” Upon seeing Sabrina approach, Kira quickly got up and offered up her seat.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 788
Shooting her a glance, Sabrina let out a faint smile. “Thank you, Ms. Woods.”
Then, she brazenly sat down and picked up the cup of coffee Jonathan had personally poured her.
At that very moment, Kira felt as if she was the maid when Sabrina took over her seat without batting an eyelid.
Sabrina Hayes!
After resting a while, everyone got up to leave as Sebastian wasn’t supposed to overexert himself.
When they returned to the main building, Sabrina was about to return to Sebastian’s room with him before Jonathan called out to her, “Ms. Hayes, come to my study for a moment.”
Sabrina, together with Sebastian, stopped in their tracks just when they were about to enter the elevator.
Jonathan quickly explained, “It’s nothing important. I just want to chat about the wine. The rest of you should head on up. Devin, make sure Sebastian takes his meds.”
After Jonathan’s reminder, Devin led Sebastian up while Sabrina followed Jonathan to his study.
Wine? Didn’t I send him the wine he wanted yesterday? What’s there left to talk about?
Inside, Sabrina gave Jonathan a puzzled look.
“Old Mr. Jadeson, do you really want to drink?”
“No.” The moment they entered the study, Jonathan’s relaxed expression became stern.
Sabrina’s heart dropped in response.
Hmm… In that case, why did he call me to his study? Is he going to ask me to leave? Can it be that he has found out about me teasing Devin when I was drunk on the first day I was here?
Sabrina broke out in cold sweat.
“I want to talk to you about where the three children are.”
“What?”
Sabrina was stunned by how sudden the question was.
“Wh-whose children?”
“Who do you think? Of course, I’m talking about Sebastian’s children, who happen to be my great-grandchildren!” Jonathan was peeved when he saw Sabrina playing dumb.
Sabrina’s mind was blown.
Why is he asking about this? When did he find out? No, wait. It’s understandable that he knows. The three of them were never hidden by Sebastian. In fact, the entire city of Avenport knows that the president of Hayes Corporation has three children. Therefore, it shouldn’t be a surprise at all. However, why is he asking about them now? After all, six months have passed since then.
Unable to gather her thoughts, Sabrina looked at Jonathan and replied, “I… I don’t know where they are too. Before Sebastian’s accident, he had already sent them away.”
“Sent them away? Did he not tell anyone?”
After collecting herself, Sabrina explained, “No. He only told an assassin of his by the name of Calvin. However, Calvin disappeared after the incident at the nightclub. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to locate him.”
There was no way she was going to reveal the children’s location until Sebastian regained his memories. Moreover, she didn’t know what Sebastian’s arrangement was for them before the incident.
Also, she wasn’t sure what Jonathan’s intentions were toward the kids.
Will he take them away? It will be trouble if he does so as both Sebastian and Sasha will be in a weaker position within the Jadeson family.
Consequently, Sabrina’s lips were sealed.
Nevertheless, when Jonathan was reminded of what happened at the nightclub, his expression drastically changed. Finally, he didn’t press on with his questions.
“I understand. I’ll look for Calvin as I don’t know how long it will take Sebastian to get back to himself.”
“Alright.”
Sabrina heaved a sigh of relief.
Just when she was about to leave, Jonathan asked abruptly, “Do you have a picture of the children? Please show them to me.”
“Huh?”
At that moment, Sabrina’s heart began to race.
How am I going to show him the pictures? He has already seen Vivi before. If I show it to him, wouldn’t it expose Sasha’s identity?
Sabrina was trapped between a rock and a hard place.
If she was unable to show a single photo, it would naturally arouse Jonathan’s suspicions.
“Sure. Hold on a moment while I find one.” Lowering her head to check her phone, she did a quick search and looked for the pictures that focused on the twin brothers.
As for Vivian, she was mostly looking away or playing by the side.
After that, Sabrina showed the pictures to Jonathan.
“Here you go, these are the three of them.”
“All right.”
Jonathan took over the phone to look.
Suddenly, the man, who was unfazed when he commanded the entire army in countless wars, trembled when he saw the pictures.
Sabrina didn’t utter a word.
After looking at them for a long time, Jonathan finally returned the phone reluctantly.
“They are the spitting image of… him,” he choked as he held back his tears.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 789
At the end of the day, he was nothing more than an ordinary man. The rumors stated that he was a cold-blooded father even after Shin’s death.
But in truth, no one knew that he had spent a lot of time mourning in Shin’s study, usually for the entire night.
Therefore, he was especially delighted to see the three children.
As to whether he meant Sebastian or Shin when he made his comment, it was impossible to know.
“That’s right. They do look very much like him. In Avenport, whoever sees them will immediately recognize them as Sebastian’s kids.”
“Is that so? What about the little girl? Why can’t I find a clearer photo of her?” Jonathan questioned.
Gripped by anxiety, Sabrina quickly thought of an excuse. “The little girl is mischievous and doesn’t like taking photos. Besides, I wasn’t in Avenport often.”
“I see.”
Jonathan let out a look of disappointment
However, he didn’t press the issue any further.
Only then did Sabrina flee the study after the close shave.
The moment she stepped out, she ran into Devin who had come to look for her after realizing she had been gone long. She grabbed onto his hand and quickly pulled him aside.
“What am I going to do? Your grandpa is asking about the three children.”
“What?”
Devin’s expression drastically changed.
“What did you tell him?”
“What else can I say? Given the perilous condition your family is in, it’s not even safe for my brother, let alone the children. I’m not confident the old man can protect them,” Sabrina answered in exasperation.
Devin didn’t respond.
Sabrina was right. Although Sebastian himself had done many things, Charles, Connor, and Candice were out for his blood.
Furthermore, they had managed to deal him serious injury every time.
The facts showed that Jonathan was unable to protect him.
If an adult could fall into such a situation, what more three defenseless children.
Devin sighed. “Fine. Just don’t say anything. I’ll continue to monitor his actions.”
“Mmm-hmm. Just to cover my tracks, I had to mention Calvin just now. Hence, he may start looking for him. Since Calvin is Sebastian’s subordinate, I’m not sure what other secrets he holds. Hence, if he is found, I hope you can let me see him first,” Sabrina reminded him about Calvin.
Devin nodded in acknowledgment.
With that, he left Oceanic Estate.
After Devin’s departure, Sabrina was about to check on Sebastian before a vibrant-looking girl approach her.
“Ms. Hayes, what were you discussing with Devin just now? Both of you seem happy talking about it.”
Happy?
The warmth in Sabrina’s face disappeared at once as she glared at Kira. “Have you been following us?”
“No, I haven’t,” Kira denied with an innocent expression.
“I just happened to pass by and was just asking casually. Ms. Hayes, please don’t misunderstand.”
“What have I misunderstood?”
Sabrina sneered, “This is where Old Mr. Jadeson stays and isn’t the main wing. If I recall correctly, no one is supposed to be here without his permission. Am I right?”
“I…”
Kira’s face was ashen while her eyes revealed a bout of panic.
It was obvious to Sabrina but she didn’t care.
“It doesn’t matter. You don’t have to hide the next time you watch us. After all, I fancy Devin and will seize all the opportunities to get close to him. Since you like to do it so much, I’ll call you over the next time he comes.”
“You…”
Finally, the provocation caused Kira to lose her temper.
“H-how can you be so shameless? You’re a single lady of a prominent family. How can you behave so inappropriately? Does your brother know this side of you?”
Sabrina folded her arms as she continued taunting, “Of course he does. He is even aware that I went to the barracks to sleep with Devin.”
Just as she spoke, Kira’s whole body began to tremble while her gentle eyes were filled with murderous intent.
“Sabrina Hayes, you’re disgusting!”
“Me, disgusting?” Sabrina stepped forward. “Who’s the one that’s truly disgusting here? At the very least, I’m honest about the fact that I like him. What about you?”
Kira was speechless.
“Have you told him about what you’re hiding inside here? Just because I threaded my hand around his arm, you cut my entire hand with sand. Doesn’t that mean you’ll kill me if I sleep with him?”
Sabrina was as frightening as a demon as she jabbed her finger at Kira’s chest.
Leaning closer to Kira’s face, she looked as if she had climbed out from hell and could see right through Kira’s soul.
Kira shuddered in response.
Returning from the Dead Chapter 790
Kira grimaced as she felt her entire being enveloped by fear.
“Stop… stop spouting nonsense!”
“Is it really nonsense?” Sabrina scoffed.
Finally, Sabrina didn’t mince her words as she spoke into Kira’s ear. “Deep down, I’m sure you know I’m telling the truth. Today, I’ll let you off because I’m rushing for time. If this happens again, you should prepare to suffer the consequences for getting on my nerves!”
She left when she was done.
In truth, the entire city of Avenport was well aware of the dire consequences of offending Sabrina. In fact, she didn’t mind building the same reputation in Jadeborough itself.
Sabrina returned to the third floor.
The release of endorphins after exercise in a person’s body would help one relax and reduce the perception of pain.
Therefore, Sabrina arrived in Sebastian’s room to find him asleep.
“He is in good condition currently. Ever since his addiction caused the attacks, he has not been able to sleep so soundly. Hence, I hope that this trend can continue.”
“All right. I’ll do my best to help him.”
Sabrina’s mood was brightened up by the news.
After returning to her room, she took a shower and sprawled on her bed.
Sasha: Good morning, Sabrina.
Sasha: Sabrina, what are you up to? Are you busy?
Sasha: What are you doing? Why aren’t you replying to my messages?
Sabrina was perplexed by the final message. Hence, she sat up and typed: I was fighting with Devin.
Sasha: ……
Sasha was speechless and typed six dots in reply.
Sabrina was amused by Sasha’s response.
Sabrina: What’s wrong? Are you upset that I fought him?
Feeling anxious in Jetroina, Sasha finally replied: Can you be more serious? I want to know his condition.
Sabrina must be doing this on purpose. She obviously knows that I’m worried about Sebastian and yet, she talks about something unrelated.
When Sabrina realized that Sasha was fuming, she provided the latest updates.
Sabrina: Well. He’s doing fine. This morning, I accompanied him to exercise as the doctor advised that it would help him wean off his addiction.
Sasha: Mmm-hmm, and then?
Sabrina: After that, he felt very good and slept soundly. The doctor mentioned that it was the best sleep he had gotten since his addiction. Therefore, you can put your mind at ease.
Sabrina didn’t forget to comfort Sasha in the end.
After reading Sabrina’s message, Sasha’s worry was indeed alleviated.
All that mattered to her was that Sebastian was making good progress.
“Nancy, I heard Haruto mention that you requested for your second operation?”
Just as they were chatting, Solomon entered the room.
Sasha put away her phone. “Yes, the faster I recover, the earlier I can go back.”
Solomon grew anxious. “But, it has just been a few days since your first operation. The doctor has said that you should wait till the scars from your first operation to form before going for the second one. Or else, the risk of failure during the second operation will be high.”
Just as he finished, Sasha held his gaze and calmly replied, “Therefore, I need your help!”
Solomon was stunned.
What’s with that look of hers? It seems to be filled with urgency and unshakeable determination.
Despite knowing the dangers that awaited her, Sasha was fearlessly ready to throw herself into the fire without any regard for her own safety. The intensity of her resolve pained Solomon’s heart.
What has Sebastian done to deserve such devotion?
Finally, Solomon gradually closed his eyes before leaving the room.
Not long afterward, an internationally acclaimed plastic surgeon arrived at the hospital and joined in the operation theater.
Meanwhile, in an unnamed street in Terrandya, Willow was cleaning up the Jetroinian bar.
Beside her was a child sprawled across a table, scribbling on a piece of paper with her pencil.
“Vivi, what are you doing?”
Willow couldn’t help but ask when she saw how serious Vivian looked.
As she continued to write, Vivian replied, “I’m writing a letter to Daddy. Daddy must be missing us now that we have left. That’s why I’m writing him a letter.”
“Oh, I see.”
Intrigued by what Vivian had said, Willow walked over with her feather duster.
When she approached, she could see that Vivian was writing a letter. However, she couldn’t recognize the scribbles at all.
