Ralph drove the car while Hannah stayed awake and looked out the window wide-eyed.

Ralph focused on driving but stole glances at her once in a while. He noticed her greedily taking in the scenery like a child, almost like it was the first time she had seen the outside world.

Unbeknownst to him, Hannah could only wish to see the outside world. She had to return immediately after completing her task every time she left home. She could not wander around.

The final time Ralph came to the table, he brought a gorgeous bouquet of fiery red roses.

“Heather!” Hannah was taken aback when Ralph got down on one knee while holding the bouquet.

She was enticed by the promise, despite knowing it was unrealistic. She wanted to live happily ever after but knew she was not qualified to enjoy such happiness with anyone.

She struggled deep down. Ralph could only observe as she remained silent because he had no idea what she was thinking. He could never figure her out.

He was unsure if he had offended her. ‘Could I have upset her by proposing to her this way? If she beats me up, I'll be utterly disgraced!’

All of a sudden, he regretted doing this in public. If she were to say no or rough him up, he would become a laughingstock among his friends.

‘What's done is done. I can’t get up now and say I’m simply joking, can I?’

Holding the ring in one hand and the bouquet in another, he kept kneeling, his smile becoming rigid.

Stunned, Ralph looked down at what he was holding. “Can't you tell?”

‘I'm on one knee with the ring and the flowers, and I’ve just popped the question. How is it that she still doesn’t get it? Did I miss something or fail to make myself clear?’

“Please ask me again.” She took a deep breath, turned toward him, and said solemnly.

Ralph was speechless.

‘She's truly hard to predict. She didn’t answer yes or no and she didn’t physically harm me. Still, to repeat it all over again? Does she think I'm an mp3 player?’

Nonetheless, he dared not to protest despite what he was thinking. “Heather—”

“Don't call me by that name.” Hannah cut him off.

Taken aback, Ralph asked, “How about Annie?”

Seeing her smile, Ralph continued, “Well, Annie, I’m asking you to marry me. I'll make sure I take good care of you and that you'll live happily ever after!”

Hannah was finally satisfied.She did not care who he thought she was. The important thing was that he was calling her by her nickname and not her sister’s. She would just pretend that he was proposing to her and not her sister.

“Say it one more time.” It was still not enough for her!

She was greedy. She wanted to hear him call her name and hear his sweet talk. She had no idea how many times she could still hear it. To her, every single word was something she could only wish for.

Ralph could not believe it.

Licking his lips, he raised his voice. “Annie, I love you. Please marry me!”

Recognizing him, the onlookers fished out their phones to take pictures, while some started to cheer her on. “Marry him! Marry him!”

Hannah had never felt so satisfied before. Proclaiming his love loudly and saying her name, the person she liked was proposing to her in front of so many people in such a beautiful place and romantic environment. She thought it was the most blissful thing in the whole wide world.

She even thought that she could now die without regrets!

“Yes!” She nodded with a smile.

Even if she was not wearing the wedding gown, even if she wouldn't be truly marrying him, even if she might not become a bride ever in her life, she assumed she had indeed married this very person who had become her first love.

Ralph heaved a huge sigh of relief.

He was not sure if he would be pissed and toss off the bouquet if she wanted him to say it one more time. Of course, even if he wanted to, he would not dare to do it.

Not expecting him to kiss her in front of so many people, Hannah blushed. She got to her feet and ran out, worrying that her photos might be taken.

With little preparation for this, Ralph merely stared after her.

“Hey, your fiancée got shy. Go after her!” Someone yelled at him.

Catching himself, he smiled. “You bet I will!”

He strode after Hannah. Having prepared the suite upstairs, there was no way he would just let her go.

Unfamiliar with the surroundings, Hannah ran to the lift and stopped. Pressing the button, she waited there.

Having contradictory thoughts, she kept glancing over her shoulder in the direction of the restaurant.

She wished he would come after her, but she had no idea what to do if he did. She had to leave, despite herself. Even if she did not want to, her sister would send someone to bring her back.

It was not meant to be. No matter how pretty a bubble appeared, it would burst.She understood it perfectly but could not bear to leave and wanted to spend every minute with him.

Ralph hurried over and grabbed her wrist. “Annie!”

He had found that whenever she turned cold towards him, she would become gentler if he called her by that name.

He did not know if Annie was her nickname, but to tame her and stop her from twisting his arms, he was willing to call her anything.

Just as he had thought, Hannah blushed again upon hearing the name. Pursing her lips, she gave a gentle tug but did not pull her hand off.

Knowing her strength, Ralph grew certain she was in a good mood and could not bear to part with him.

“I'm sorry. Have I done anything that upset you, and that’s why you left? Tell me anything you’re unhappy with, and I'll change!”

He said it earnestly.

Hannah shook her head. “No, I’m not upset. You did well. So well!”

Everything was amazing, and she had never felt such happiness. The delicious dinner and the romantic atmosphere were all prepared for her, not to mention that he told her he loved her. It was the first time anyone had said it to her.

‘What he said might be meant for Heather, but who cares? He was saying my name!’

Ralph and Hannah had not expected to see Alexander and Lily coming out from the lift. The four took a moment to respond as they faced each other.

“You?” Ralph frowned, not expecting to see him here.

“What do you want?” Ralph saw Hannah taking a step back and heroically stood before her. “You dare to attack her with me around?”

Alexander did not know what to say. “Excuse us, please.” Not bothering to pay attention to Ralph, he stretched his hand protectively and escorted Lily toward the private room he had booked at the restaurant.

Hannah did not want to deal with them and felt relieved seeing them leaving, but Ralph blocked Alexander’s path. “Hold on!”

“Apologize to Annie!” Ralph figured Heather had looked down on him and must have thought he was not manly enough to confront Alexander.

“Cut your act!” Ralph noticed Alexander’s puzzled expression and realized he might not know he was referring to Heather. He moved slightly away as he said, “You won’t admit that you’ve hurt her, won’t you? Lily, it’s not the first time we’ve met, and you've never called me uncle. I heard you’re from the Lodge family. Haven't they taught you any manners?”

Thinking he was their uncle, Ralph tried to bully Lily.

Lily gave him a casual glance. ‘Well, we did meet before, but I hardly know you.’

Lily looked at Heather. Although Heather wore a mask when she attacked Lily, Lily sensed something different about Heather and that she no longer gave off an oppressive feeling.

However, he could not admit he was afraid and simply coughed. “You know Heather has suffered an injury thanks to you, and yet you're playing games with me? Apologize now!”

Alexander looked at him and then at ‘Heather.’ “Sure, he said as he suddenly took two steps toward her.

Hannah saw him moving closer and felt overwhelmed by his imposing manner. She even had goosebumps as she tensed up and clenched her fists tight while taking another step back with her lips pursed.

She did not dare to look into his eyes. Her gaze shifted to the upward-moving elevator, wishing it could move faster. She was used to acting like Heather when she was outside, but she could not control her fear.

She fixed her gaze on the number above the elevator and said casually, “Ralphy, why waste our time on these uncouth people? I don't want to see them. Let's go.”

Ralph did not want to stay there and only tried to impress her. The truth was that he would not know what to do if Alexander refused to apologize. Now that she had said it, Ralph could not be happier.

However, Ralph did not want that to be obvious. He cleared his throat and said, “Heard that? My woman is much more cultured than yours! Take my advice. Don’t just bring anyone back home. Not everyone can join the Russell family, got it?

“Since Heather says to let it go, I'll not hold it against you, my nephew. Remember, I won't go easy on you if you dare to bully my woman again!”

The elevator finally arrived, and Hannah quickly stepped back toward them. Ralph hurriedly joined her and pressed the parking lot button.

She was nervous and thought the man was as scary as her sister. She decided to avoid seeing him again.

After the encounter, Hannah lost her interest to continue having fun outside. When she met Alexander, she realized she could never become like her sister. ‘No matter how much we look alike and how I try to act like Heather, we're two different people. Ralph felt her shiver and quickly took off his jacket to put it on her. “Are you cold? It’s freezing out here. Why don’t you have some rest in my cozy suite upstairs? I'll drive you back later.”

“No, I can’t stay any longer. I have something to do and have to go.” Hannah felt Ralph’s body heat on the jacket and struggled inwardly. She could not bear to leave but knew she had to.

“Annie, did I do anything to upset you? Tell me what I’ve done wrong, and I'll change. What's the matter with you, Annie? Annie?”

He knew she would become amenable if he called her by that name. He kept doing so, but it no longer worked for some reason. Hannah did not seem like she wanted to go, but her shifting gaze would not fall on him no matter what. This greatly confused Ralph, as he had no idea what he had done wrong.

Wanting to spend quality time with his wife, Alexander did not expect to bump into the two people when they arrived at the hotel.

As they had made a reservation beforehand, the dishes were served quickly after they were seated, and they ate quietly as if they were hungry.

“I felt it too.” Nodding, Alexander agreed.

Taking a sip of orange juice, Lily thought about it seriously but felt something was not right.

“How would I know? I’m not close to her.” Her elbows on the table, she propped her chin on her folded hands and looked at him smilingly. “You’ve interacted with Ms. Riggs more often than me. Which type do you think she belongs to?”

She winked mischievously.

Alexander grew thoughtful.

‘Is she getting jealous?’

Seeing her smiling eyes, he knew she was just teasing him.

He patiently cut off a small slice of steak that was of the perfect size and offered it near her lips with his fork. “Which type she belongs to has nothing to do with me. What I do know is that if I don't feed you well, you’re going to cry that you’re hungry on our way back!”

“You're complaining that I eat a lot, huh?” She threw him a side glance but ate the steak as he wanted.

Juicy and flavorful, the taste was just right.

“No way. I'd rather you eat more,” he said smilingly.

Exchanging a smile, they shared a sweet and tender moment.

However, Lily grew slightly worried despite herself. “Assuming you’re right and Ms. Riggs is truly in such a situation, there’s bound to be trouble.”

“Why is that?”

“If she truly has dissociative identity disorder, her other self would sometimes not know what she does. We'll have no idea which identity she would assume. For example, the one that attacked me was a different personality than the one we saw just now.Worse, she has no control over which identity would take over and what she would do.”

‘Someone who could not control herself and is unaware of her action is truly scary.’

Alexander remained quiet for a moment before becoming calm again. “No matter which personality takes over her and regardless of what happens, I guarantee you that she won't be able to hurt you ever again!”

Moved deep down, Lily said, “Don't talk like I’m a baby who needs protection, okay? Don’t forget that I can fight!”

She raised her fist to make her point.

“Yes, you don't need protection, and I'm the one who does. That means we must stay in touch at all times, okay?” Saying it like a joke, he meant the latter part. He could hardly hide the concern in his eyes, and Lily knew he wanted to keep her safe. She smiled. “Sure, I promise you.”

She decided to take her mind off Heather. If she had dissociative identity disorder, it did not concern them as long as she did not hurt them. Besides, they were able to protect themselves.

At the Riggs’ residence, a car slowly entered its compound. Under the moonlit and starless sky, the building looked creepy, with only the dim, yellowish light in the living area.

Hannah got out of the car and followed Chump into the living area.

The living area was empty except for a maid who came with them from the island and Heather. Sitting there, the elder twin sister held an unlit slim cigarette.

She never smoked but always brought a pack of cigarettes with her. Sometimes she would light one and watch it finish burning into ashes that fall all over the floor.

“Heather...” Pursing her dry lips, Hannah was about to say something before a harsh voice cut her off, “On your knees!”
