Ch. 1341..1350
All the other things, including the experiment's success, could not divert his attention.
Thompson could tell that something was off with him as well.
When he thought about how Austin had always looked down on Lily, he thought it was because Austin felt dissatisfied and unconvinced upon learning that Lily’s experiment had succeeded.
Hence, he started, "Austin, you’ve recently stayed for days in the lab and worked hard for the experiment.
Look at the dark circles under your eyes! You should go home and rest today.
You can only continue with the experiment in a better state!"
"I’m fine, Professor Thompson.I’ve had enough rest.I..."
Before Austin could finish, Thompson interjected, "Hey, don’t take this lightly just because you’re still young.Work is a never- ending process.Since this one has succeeded, I’m sure it’ll be a smooth process for us in the coming days! "Don’t be too hard on yourself, and don’t worry too much.We still have Lily here!"
Thompson said as he happily glanced at Lily, "Go home and rest. You’ll need patience regarding these things. It won't be too late to continue after you're feeling better!"
"I..."
Austin felt suffocated. He could tell that Thompson did not need him here anymore, even though his words made him appear concerned.
Lily was back and succeeded in the experiment when Austin could not do so after struggling for the past few days.
He felt that Thompson probably found him useless now.
With that thought in mind, the fury in his heart grew.
Scoffing, Austin could not help himself but mock, "Fine! It seems you have someone better now and no longer need my help.If that's the case, I’ll go back and take a good rest."
With that, he turned around to leave, leaving Thompson in his spot. The latter wanted to offer some comfort but could not do so in time.
"Austin! Hey..."
Thompson waved to try and stop the young man.
Since he could not do anything, he just gave up on it.He turned and smiled at Lily as he said helplessly, "Young people these days are too impatient! Fortunately, I was right about you. You're gifted. From what I see, you’re not only talented in fragrances, but you’ll be able to achieve great success in the medicinal herbs field if you were to learn it too!"
"It’s too kind of you to say that, Professor Thompson."
Lily said lightly, "Medicinal herb is a tough discipline, and it won’t be easy to master it."
She had been learning about it from Dominic for so many years, and she was sure that Dominic would not be confident enough to say that he had mastered everything in the field.
There would always be newer discoveries, after all.
Thompson agreed with her words very much.
"You’re right.I’m old now, and I’ve spent most of my life learning about medicinal herbs.Even so, I wouldn’t dare to say I’m an expert in this.I can’t compare to Mr.Dominic on this, but I must say that he’s not great at choosing people.
"Everyone is saying that Austin is Mr.Dominic’s secret apprentice and how talented and gifted Austin is, but Austin seems pretty ordinary to me! Mr.Dominic's choice of apprentices—no, his choice of secret apprentices is terrible!"
Then he shook his head, looking confused.Lily did not know how to respond.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1342--Austin was shocked to his core.
After leaving the lab, he headed right for Dominic’s place.
No matter how Dominic was feeling today, Austin was determined to meet him and get to the bottom of things. He guessed that Dominic and Lily had a close relationship with each other.
Otherwise, Dominic would not have allowed her to enter and stay in his place for such a long time.
Dominic probably knew things about Lily and should also know what happened today.
Austin did not believe in numbing someone by hitting their acupuncture points, so the only justification was that Lily might have temporarily poisoned him.
‘Is there a type of poison that can temporarily make someone lose control over their bodies, and they can only recover from it later?’ His mind was full of thoughts, and he was so distracted that he almost knocked into someone else’s car.
He sped up and finally arrived at Dominic’s villa in the suburbs.
When his car came to a halt, he instantly jumped out and rushed into the place.
Without caring about Dominic’s rules, he wanted to barge inside, but the maids stopped him.
"Mr.Austin, you need to follow the rules."
"I can’t care about bullsh*t rules right now! I’m fine if Granduncle wants to punish me for this, but there’s something I must clarify with him!"
"I'm sorry, Mr.Austin.You can’t go inside!"
"Get out of my way!"
Austin wanted to barge into the villa again, but the four maids stopped him.
Austin could not break free, so he resorted to screaming, "Go and tell Granduncle that it’s urgent and I must meet him now! It’s something he'll be interested in too! Oh, right, tell him this concerns Lily! I’m sure he’ll be interested!"
One of the maids nodded and headed inside the villa.
When he saw that, he gave up on breaking free, which made the other maids loosen their grip on him.
They stood in their spots for a moment, and the maid who went in earlier finally came out.
"Mr.Austin, Mr.Dominic said he’s not interested in your matter and hopes you won’t disturb his peace. He hopes you won’t bother him with other people’s matters either and that you should go home."
Austin did not expect this.
Dominic was still unwilling to meet him.
Although he had a feeling this would happen, he thought Dominic would allow him inside as he had brought up Lily.
However, looking at the situation now made him wonder if Dominic and Lily had a good or bad relationship with each other.
It confused Austin even more; he was even more determined to get to the bottom of things.
The disappointment was evident in his gaze as he lowered his head and said softly, "Okay.I got it."
Then he turned to leave.
Upon seeing that, the maids returned to work, but Austin suddenly turned around and rushed into the villa at breakneck speed.
He knew the place well and navigated his way in, avoiding all those trying to stop him, and arrived at Dominic’s residence successfully.
"Granduncle! I have something urgent I must speak to you about! Please let me see you! You..."
Just as he arrived at the door, the people chasing after him pressed him down to the ground.
The leader of Dominic’s subordinates had fear written all over his face.
"Mr.Dominic, I’m sorry.Mr.Austin had..."
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1343-"You guys are useless pieces of cr*p!"
Dominic glanced at the book he was holding and instructed, "Just let him go!"
His people released Austin and stood in their spots to await further instructions.
After regaining his freedom, Austin immediately stood up and stretched his body before saying, "Granduncle! I'm not causing chaos this time, and I’m not here to beg you for anything.I really need to ask you about something important!"
"You?"
Dominic looked up and clicked his tongue.
"What important matters could you possibly have?"
"I..."
Austin started but hesitated as he looked around them.
"What embarrassing things did you do this time?"
Dominic questioned and waved to motion for the others to leave.
Austin continued when only the two remained, "Granduncle, you’ve been researching medicinal herbs for many years.Do you know of herbs that could temporarily numb one’s nerves, making them unable to move for that period?"
Dominic looked at Austin as if he was an idi*t before slowly saying, ""What’s wrong with you? Ever heard of anesthesia?"
"No, it’s not that! It’s..."
Austin panicked, not knowing how to explain himself.
After some thought, he asked, "It’s...is there such a thing where I poke two fingers on you, then you won't be able to move or say anything?"
Austin poked at Dominic's body, not caring how he would feel, to demonstrate to Dominic what he meant.Of course, Austin dared not poke Dominic hard, but he touched him lightly.
Austin’s memory of that incident was growing vague, and he acted it out according to how he remembered it.
Then he said, "Then the person would be able to move after you pat them again."
The sight of Austin incoherently blabbering things, along with his bewildered expression, made Dominic narrow his eyes.
This time, he did not mock Austin but said after some serious thought, "You mean numbing someone's nerves by hitting on their acupuncture points?"
"No, it’s not that!"
Austin shook his head, denying it.
"Those things only exist in folklore, and they don’t exist at all.I’m guessing it’s a medicine that could numb one’s nerves, and that’s how it freezes a person. One could use needles to poke at someone's acupuncture points to achieve that effect, but it doesn’t hurt!"
Austin thought about it, and it did not feel like a needle poked him.He was unprepared for it and sensed no danger, but he was frozen, unable to talk.
Austin could only open his mouth but could get no words out.It was as if he had suddenly lost his voice. He did not know how to describe how he felt then, but it horrified him.
Dominic looked at Austin’s fearful and confused face.
It made Dominic smile.
"Why can’t a person’s nerves go numb when their acupuncture points get hit? Why do you think such things don’t exist? There are various disciplines of medicine in this world, so how could you be certain it doesn’t exist?"
With the book in his hand, Dominic turned and headed into the house, slowly striding as he continued, "The world is so big, and we know so little about it.
Just because you don’t know about it doesn’t mean something doesn't exist.
"The things you know might not be entirely true either. How well can you tell between the real and fake in this world?"
Then Dominic took a seat in his rattan chair leisurely while his words confused Austin even more.
Austin was stunned and stood in silence for a moment.
‘Granduncle means a person can go numb when someone hits their acupuncture points. So, that was what Lily did? Does she know how to do that? I thought she only learned a little about kickboxing and was a better fighter than most girls"
Austin found that unacceptable.
"Granduncle, even if such a thing exists, it should take many years for someone to master it, right? It’s not something anyone can just learn so easily."
He was still unwilling to believe that Lily could do it.
Without averting his gaze from the book, Dominic chuckled and asked casually, "You were frozen in place because someone had hit your acupuncture points?"
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1344 -This question stunned Austin and made his face flush red.
This was embarrassing to him, especially since Lily, whom he had been looking down on, had frozen him on the spot.
If anyone were to hear about this, he would be too ashamed to meet anyone in the future.
"N-No!" Austin straightened his back and denied it.
"It’s my friend!"
"your friend?"
Dominic stopped rocking his chair and looked up at Austin.
"Your...friend?"
"Yes!"
Austin was adamant about using this reason. He would never admit that he was the main character in his story.
Dominic understood what was going on and smiled.
"Then why does it have anything to do with Lily? Didn't you say that you had something related to Lily to tell me? You’re not trying to tell me that your friend is Lily, are you?"
"That’s impossible!"
He denied it almost instantly.
‘What the h*ll? Why would she be a friend of mine?’ After denying it, he found another cover for himself.
"It’s like this.I want to ask if you have a close relationship with Lily.I saw her here once, and I know you won’t just meet anyone."
"Does it have anything to do with you?"
Dominic’s expression turned dark.He was displeased by the question.
‘It’s happening again! Granduncle would get mad whenever I brought Lily up, so are they friends or foes?’ "No.I’m not trying to invade your privacy.I just want to know if you’ re close to Lily and if you know she can numb someone’s nerves by hitting their acupuncture points?"
Although Dominic confirmed the existence of such a technique, it still felt strange to Austin to say it out loud.
If he had not gone through it personally, he would never have believed it, even if Dominic were to convince him of its existence.
"What? Did she numb your..."
Dominic dragged his word out and looked at Austin’s expression.
"Your friend’s nerves?"
"No!"
Austin denied subconsciously before correcting himself, "Yes!"
After some thought, it still felt strange.
Austin scratched his head, looking confused.
"No, but yes! How do I say it? She just used her hands to poke around his body, then I...my friend, could no longer move or speak.
"Later, she patted him like this again, and then he could move again.Initially, I thought that it was caused by certain kinds of medication she had hidden between her fingers or ring or something and that we just didn’t realize it.However, I don’t know what medication could have its effects be controlled so precisely."
"Then what did your friend say? What did he feel? For instance, feeling like a needle poked him, or if he felt numb anywhere?"
It was rare for Dominic to discuss something with Austin so seriously.
Upon hearing that question, Austin simultaneously thought about his feelings and lifted his hand to feel the spots Lily had poked before.
"No, it didn’t hurt or leave wounds. It doesn’t feel numb, either. It’s just that when my friend couldn’t move, he felt like something had blocked his blood circulation, and he couldn't exert any strength no matter how hard he tried.
"He wanted to scream aloud but couldn’t do that either. When he could finally move, he felt the numbness he would normally feel on his thighs after squatting down for too long. After moving around, he felt normal again and didn’t feel uncomfortable anywhere."
Austin said anything that came to mind as he recounted everything he felt at the time.
Dominic smiled and joked, "It seems you know this friend of yours very well. It’s like you know exactly how he felt, like you’ve also gone through it."
Austin had no words.
In that instant, blood rushed to his head.He felt like he had exposed himself.
When Austin looked at Dominic's sharp gaze that showed he knew everything, he felt dumb for everything he had done in front of him earlier.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1345---‘His friend? Austin feels that he's been different from the rest since he was a child and smarter than them.He dislikes and refuses to make friends with anyone"
Dominic thought, ‘Due to that, Austin had no friends and only spoke to those who sought medicinal help from him"
Therefore, it was the worst reason Austin could come up with to tell Dominic.
"Granduncle, I’m genuinely curious about one thing.Does Lily know how to numb someone's nerves? Who is she? Howis she so capable?"
Austin decided to address his concerns.
Dominic smiled.
"Capable? Don't you think women are incapable? Do you think she’s great now?"
"I...It’s not that I think she’s great.I just think that numbing someone’s nerves is not something that’s scientifically proven. If it truly exists, then it’s something amazing."
Austin tried to reason, but Dominic knew he was almost convinced of its existence.
Was Lily incapable? If she was incapable, Thompson would not have trusted her so much.
If she were incapable, she would not have been able to numb Austin’s nerves by poking a few spots on his body.
If she were incapable, she would not have succeeded in the experiment that Austin failed to complete after trying for such a long time.
All those occasions made him wonder if he had underestimated Lily all along.
"Not scientifically proven?"
Dominic sighed, shaking his head.
"There are many things in this world that science can’t explain.Everything is possible, so why be surprised? Lily's grandfather is Wilfred Lodge, and they have been a kickboxing family for centuries. How much do you know about kickboxing? How would you know the things they’re capable of?"
Austin could not retort and stayed silent while listening to Dominic.
It was rare for Dominic to talk so nicely to him.
Usually, Dominic would mock him or ask him to leave. He seemed to be in a great mood today.
"It’s just that the kickboxing families are slowly declining due to the technological era. It’s hard to say how much the younger generations have inherited from their elders. You would think all those cool kickboxing moves only exist in comics and movies."
Dominic shook his head, finding the loss of such techniques pitiful.
Austin just looked at him, slightly curious.
"Granduncle, how do you know so much about Lily? Do you know her well?"
With that, Dominic returned to his senses.
Coughing, he said, "Absolutely not! How many years has it been since I last left here? How would I know her? I don’t know her well at all!"
A hint of awkwardness flashed across his face.
Frowning, he asked in return without giving Austin a chance to ask any more questions.
"Why do you have so much time? Don’t you need to continue with your experiment? Are you giving up halfway? You’ re still immature, I see!"
Austin did not know what to say.
After a moment, he said, "Granduncle, the experiment has succeeded."
"It did?"
Dominic’s eyes lit up as he straightened his back to look at Austin.
"You succeeded? You completed the experiment successfully?"
Austin had no idea why Dominic was so excited upon learning about that. However, he did not dare boast about such a thing to Dominic, so he said honestly, "It wasn’t me.It was...Lily."
"Lily?"
After being stunned for a moment, Dominic slapped his thigh.
"I knew it! I knew you weren't capable of that!"
Once again, Austin was speechless.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1346 -"You seem to know a lot about Lily, Granduncle."
Austin looked at Dominic strangely, finding Dominic’s reaction too unusual.
Whenever Austin mentioned someone in the past, be it his grandfather or parents, Dominic had never looked so excited before.
Only mentioning Lily would make him look hesitant and cause him to lose control over his emotions.
"Do I?"
Dominic raised a brow and was determined not to admit to it.
"I’m just interested in that experiment you guys are doing! I like seeing you lose too."
Austin was rendered speechless for a moment.
"I’m your grandson!"
Austin whined.
"Cut the cr*p!"
Dominic put his hand up and widened the distance between the two.
"I’m all alone and without children, so how would I have any grandchildren?"
"That’s why I treat you like my grandfather. In the future, I'll take care of you and manage your funeral-"
Before Austin finished his words, Dominic interjected, ‘Stop that! Funeral, my *ss! Even if there is one, it’ll be for your grandpa.
I can live till I’m 200 years old! I haven’t seen enough of this world!"
"Y-You're right. You'll live till you’re 200.I just wanted to say that ; I treat you like my own grandfather, so how could you be on an mn outsider’s side? Or are you closer to Lily? Who is she really?"
"What outsider? Work is work, and that’s all I’m focused on.I don’t give ad*mn who you are!"
Dominic rolled his eyes at Austin and continued, "You're not brilliant enough, yet you used my Name to scam everyone out there! How dare you have the guts to look down on anyone? You’ re suffering a loss now, aren’t you? You need to stop being so arrogant and conceited!"
"Granduncle, when have I ever looked down on anyone..."
Although slightly conceited, Austin believed he was not that arrogant. He knew someone out there would be better than him, but it would never be Lily.
"Don’t you look down on women?"
That made Austin choke on his spit and instantly rendered him speechless.
"What is wrong with you, punk? Your grandfather and father are not biased toward a patriarchal system, but how did you turn out this way? You look down on women, so how could you face your mom? Fortunately, your grandma passed away early.Otherwise, would you look down on her too?"
Initially, Dominic wanted to avoid bothering with this, but since they were on the topic, he could not help but nag at Austin.
After all, he watched the kid grow up, and Austin could be considered quite intelligent.
However, he wondered where Austin learned such behavior. It did not concern him before as he did not have to see Austin daily.
"Granduncle, it’s not that I look down on women.I think men and women have different responsibilities and should do their jobs well!" Austin explained himself.
He never thought of himself as someone who looked down on women.Still, he did not like women who overstepped their boundaries and did not do their jobs well.Hence, he kept finding faults with Lily because he felt the lab was not where she should be.Plus, she kept getting the spotlight all to herself.
"Different jobs?"
Dominic scoffed and threw Austin a sideways glance.
"Tell me about it then. What's their job, and what isn’t?"
Austin was shocked, but he answered Dominic’s question confidently, "Since ancient times, men were the ones who worked in the business while women stayed home.
"If men were the ones who worked hard to support the family, women should be obedient and manage things at home, such as cooking and caring for their children. That’s what women should do.They shouldn’t be out there competing with men and fighting with them when they can't agree!"
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1347-After thinking of how numb he felt when Lily poked at his acupuncture points, Austin felt uncomfortable.
"Nonsense!"
Dominic berated and kicked Austin. He tried hard to control himself.
"Since ancient times? What kind of bullsh*t is that? You better stop that! Are you from the Victorian era or something? Why didn’t you just stay and die in the era?"
"Granduncle, how could you say that to me?"
Austin got upset.
"What? I want to kick you so badly!"
As Dominic spoke, he lifted his leg and kicked it in Austin’s direction.
Austin was not a fool, so he jumped to his feet and dodged quickly.
Dominic became dissatisfied when he failed to kick Austin.
He kicked the glass by his side before continuing to yell at Austin, "I’m so old, yet I’m not even half as closed-minded as you are! Wake up and look at the times now!
"Times have changed, and did you not see how successful women can be? Your mom is willing to be a housewife and care for everything at home.Fine, that’s her choice, but other women want to be in the working world and make a career for themselves too.
"That’s their choice as well! How could you compare them this way? Should only men work and be successful? Tell me then! What have you achieved? Tell me!"
Before Austin could reply, Dominic continued, "Tell me something other than those few people you cured thanks to using my name."
Austin spoke in a hurry in case he would get interjected again, "I’ve saved some patients’ lives before that!"
"Save their lives?"
Dominic scoffed.
"Go to the hospital.Forget about the doctors, but I can bet you that any nurses there would’ve saved more lives than you ever could! What are you being so proud of?"
Austin was rendered speechless from being chastised.
After some thought, he defended himself, "I didn’t mean women shouldn't work, but I just wanted to say that they should focus on what they specialize in.
Lily knows nothing about medicinal herbs, yet she’s involved in the experiment! That's nonsense!"
"Nonsense? Then how did she succeed? Why didn’t you succeed instead? If you’re that capable, why couldn’t you do what she did?"
Austin did not know what to say.
"I bet you're just jealous! You look down on women, but she’s much more capable than you! You can’t beat her at anything, so you used gender, which you think being a man is far superior to her! That's the worst behavior of all!"
"Granduncle, I’m not..." Austin panicked.
"She's just lucky! I’m close to success too! It’s just that I started later than she did, and I don’t have all the past research data either. She didn’t want to give them to me, so I..."
"Does all that past data belong to you? Why should she give them to you? That’s enough.Stop with all your nonsense.I don’t want to hear any of that from you again! Get out of here! I don’t want to hear anything from someone like you who only knows how to find faults with others! "Get the h*ll out of here!"
Dominic picked up a random item, preparing to throw it at Austin as he spoke.
Austin hurried to hide, but Dominic looked at the teapot in his hand and hesitated. He could not bear to throw that out and glared at Austin instead.
"What are you still doing here? Do you want me to get someone to throw you out?"
"Granduncle, don’t be mad.I-I’ll leave now."
Austin noticed the odds were not in his favor and could only leave for now.
When Austin left, Dominic finally put down the teapot on the table. He sighed and cursed, "That punk!"
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1348-In the lab, Thompson was holding onto the results that did not come easily. He was grinning from ear to ear.
"Great! Although we've only succeeded with these two types of herbs, it’s still a huge step forward.
"If we can get through this, I’m sure we'll overcome all other obstacles too!"
Smiling, he said to Lily, "I was afraid you didn’t want to come back. It’s best if you remain with us now."
Lily removed her gloves and washed her hands under the running water as she said, "Professor Thompson, there are some things I want to discuss with you."
"What is it?"
Thompson nodded in high spirits.
"I'll return to the lab and continue with the experiments, but I won’t touch any herbs with strong effects,"
Lily said, "If you agree to that, then I'll be back for good.If you don’t, then consider the success of these two experiments a token of my appreciation to you."
That meant she would not return to the lab anymore after this experiment.
Thompson's smile froze, making him think of what Mike had said before this.
Coughing, he said, "Sure, we can talk that out.We should do that anyway."
"you know I’m pregnant now.I wouldn’t risk it by touching all those poisonous herbs."
Lily finished washing her hands and turned to face Thompson as she continued, "Plus, this research had a good starting point, but we can’t be sure about its final effects on its consumers.
"Although those more potent herbs with poisonous properties could cure diseases, we shouldn’t put their side effects aside. We must carefully observe the process of preparing the medicine, and the amount used must be precise.
"Extracting the medicinal content of the herbs and infusing it into scented candles will have inconsistent effects when burned. If the consumers are not careful about it..."
Thompson interjected, "I know that.I understand your concerns, so I agree to stop those experiments involving poisonous herbs.Let's focus on our current task, and we’ll leave the rest to discuss in the future. We’ll go with what you say.How about that?"
Lily was stunned before nodding.
"Okay."
She was unsure if she was overthinking things, but Thompson had agreed to her request way too quickly. She could not help but get suspicious over that. She brought the matter to him before, but he insisted on continuing the experiments regardless of their difficulty.
He also insisted that they must solve its problems. He would also say that poisons were part of medicines.
However, he agreed to her request so quickly today.
Since he did so, she did not need to contemplate things too much.
Nodding, she said, "Well then, that’s all for today.I’ll be heading home now."
"Okay!"
Thompson agreed while his attention had been on the two tiny bottles the entire time. His joy was evident.
"Have a good rest. You'll only be able to do more experiments when you're feeling better!"
"Sure!"
Lily answered and looked at him for a moment longer before leaving.
The success of the experiment today was within her expectations.
Since she succeeded this time, the following experiments would not be too challenging for her.
However, she became even more worried because of that.
It was still the same old concern.
What was this experiment’s end goal? Was it genuinely for humankind’s benefit and to explore more alternatives to curing illnesses? With that doubt in mind, she reached home and noticed that the Rollins family car was still there. It seemed that Anastasia had not left yet.
Sure enough, she saw Anastasia happily playing with Galen in one corner of the living room as soon as she entered the door.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1349--It was evident that the little guy liked Anastasia a lot.He crawled up her body and slid down like a slide.
"Hey, you little troublemaker!"
Lily stepped forward and pulled Galen away, stopping him from his climb.
"Let me go!"
Two little hands fluttered in the air.It was apparent that he was unhappy.
"Mommy! Mommy! Let me down!"
"You can't climb on Anastasia like that! She'll get tired!"
Lily held him in her arms, nudging his nose.
With a frown, she turned to look at Anastasia as if asking if she was tired.
However, Anastasia smiled and stood up.
"It's okay, I'm fine!"
"Lily, he can call me Aunt Tasia. It'll be weird if he calls me by my name when I call you by yours!" Lily smiled.
"You're still so young. He should call you sis!"
"No, no.Aunt Tasia is fine!"
Anastasia said, covering her face shyly.
That made Lily laugh. She hugged her son, turned around, and walked toward the sofa.
After putting Galen on her lap, she squeezed his two little hands and asked Anastasia, "Do you like what I prepared for you today?"
"Of course!"
Anastasia nodded repeatedly. She could not wait to follow up with praises.
"Today's sauteed beef was delicious. The wrapped scone with the chili dip was amazing, and that scrambled egg, I don't think I’ve eaten anything as delicious as that since I was a child!" She could not help but close her eyes as if she was reminiscing about the taste of the food as she talked.
The look on her face made Lily laugh even harder.
"Nonsense! How can you never have anything more delicious?"
"To be honest, I did have all sorts of yummy food. The chef at home would cook whatever I liked to eat.My father didn't care as long as I ate well.Later, the longer he was away from home, the lonelier I felt.I began to eat to pass the time.
"After eating what the chef made, I would still feel dissatisfied and reach for snacks.I knew all the popular shacks by heart, and there were no stores that I hadn’t been to."
The glimmer in Anastasia’s eyes slowly dimmed as she told her story.
"I was just eating without appreciating the food. All I wanted to do was to eat, and that was all.I didn't care about the taste.I couldn't taste anything."
Lily understood what she meant.
Many with bulimia would go through this.
Eating became mechanical.
They were just simply stuffing food into their mouth, regardless of what it was, swallowing abruptly. They could no longer taste the food or enjoy eating it.
Once they finished, they would be filled with regret, causing them to purge.
Some may have an emotional breakdown, causing them to binge on more food.
This cycle would continue endlessly.
When Lily met Anastasia for the first time, her father had her on such a strict diet that she was on the verge of collapsing.
After all, humans had their own willpower and desire to contend, so Anastasia could not keep up with the restriction.
"Are we having beef burritos tonight?" Anastasia asked enthusiastically, her eyes full of anticipation.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1350--"Beef...burritos..." Galen repeated it excitedly.
Lily smiled when she saw the two drooling at the thought of food and shook her head.
"No, we're not having that."
Hearing this, Anastasia felt like a deflated ball.
On the other hand, Galen was jumping around in Anastasia's arms.
"I want to eat! I want! I want to eat!"
"You can have some beef and vegetables," Lily said.
"Really?!" Anastasia perked up after hearing what she said.
"You should eat foods with high vitamin contents and protein at night and cut carbohydrates," Lily explained.
"However, you can only eat until you're 70% full."
"Okay! Even half full is fine!"
Anastasia nodded impatiently.
This was already good news for her.
Before this, all she could eat for the entire day were either cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, or eggs.
Seeing them made her want to throw up.
Now, she could eat meat and even have scones for lunch.
It was pure happiness for her! She listened to Lily's advice, chewing as much as possible with each mouthful and moving slowly.
Unconsciously, her appetite shrank.
Furthermore, her anxiety about not knowing when her next meal would arrive had subsided.
Because of that, she did not stuff the food into her mouth unscrupulously.
Now, she anticipated her next meal.
With proper self-control over her food, she saw life in a different light.
"Lily, the scones we had this afternoon aren't like those in the market. What is it made of?" She asked curiously.
