Ch. 1431..1440
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1431--It would be fine if Lily did not know it before, but now that she knew things were not as simple as they seemed, she felt uneasy letting Daisy accompany her son like this.
"Daisy." Lily stood at the door with her arms crossed as she looked at Daisy and asked, "How long has it been since you've worked at our house?"
"About four months," Daisy replied after some thought.
"Hmm, after so long, you have yet to take leave to visit your family. Don't you miss them?"
Lily's question sounded natural as if she was discussing familial matters with Daisy.
"I don't have any family members, Madam. You must’ve forgotten. I'm the only one left,"
Daisy shook her head and answered. She showed no sadness or joy when she talked about this. She was not lying either.
When she applied for the job, Lily did a background check on her.
Both of Daisy's parents were dead, and she had no siblings.
Daisy was married once, but her husband passed away as well.
The child she gave birth to died at a young age.
At that time, Lily pitied her.
Alongside Daisy's experience in childcare and her good ratings, Lily thought she would be the perfect candidate.
It turned out that she was not as simple as Lily thought she was.
"Oh, right. I'm so sorry about that!"
Lily palmed her forehead lightly before asking again, "Then, don't you have any friends? Don't you want to spend time with them? What about this? I'll give you a few days off to rest properly."
Daisy raised her eyes to look at Lily calmly.
"Madam, are you firing me?"
"Firing you?"
Lily was astounded and quickly waved around.
"No, that's not what I meant. I just thought that you've worked hard to care for Galen throughout this time and that you deserve a good break."
Although she was suspicious of Daisy, Lily had never considered dismissing her.
Still, Lily did not know Daisy's purpose for working here.
After staying with the family for nearly four months, Daisy would inevitably know quite a bit about the family's affairs.
Firing her would be risky.
Instead, Lily planned to keep Daisy by her side to discover her intentions.
However, Lily could not just sweep things under the rug and continue to put her son in possible danger.
Therefore, she decided to let Daisy take a few days off so she would not startle the snake.
"I don't have any friends, and I don't need to rest. I must take care of the little boy and feel very happy doing it. I'm also very well paid and taken care of here. I will continue to work hard!" Daisy exclaimed sincerely without hesitation.
At this point, Lily had run out of ideas to get Daisy off the job for a few days.
After thinking about it, Lily said, "All right then. You can continue working if you don't want to rest. However, if you ever feel tired or the job is getting too heavy, just tell me, and I'll let you take a break."
"Thank you, Madam."
With that, Daisy turned around to enter the room.
Lily watched her departing back and panicked before hurriedly calling out, "Daisy!"
Daisy stopped in her steps and turned around to look at Lily suspiciously.
"You can sleep in the guest room from today onward. I'll sleep with Galen tonight."
"Huh???"
"I think a child needs his mother's company from time to time. I'm very bean thankful you can take care of him during the day. I want to spend more time with him at night, especially when his father isn’t home."
Lily peeked in and saw her son sleeping soundly on the bed.
Although this was just an excuse she made up on the spot, there was some truth behind it. She genuinely wanted to spend more time with Galen.
After all, he was still so young.
"Madam, you're pregnant. You shouldn't be doing anything too straining."
Daisy looked at Lily's belly, which was protruding a little more each day.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1432 --"It's fine. The bed is big enough for me to sleep on.Plus, it's good that I get to exercise a little."
Then Lily continued, not giving Daisy a chance to respond, "Go to the guest room.I'll accompany Galen tonight! We'll discuss this more when Alex comes back."
With that, she walked into Galen's room decisively.
Since that was already the case, Daisy could not argue any further.
Instead, she stood at the door silently for a while before pursing her lips and saying, "Then goodnight, Madam!"
"Goodnight."
Lily nodded and closed the door behind her.
Rhea slept all day at home and did not wake up until evening.
When she got up, she showered and changed her clothes before going downstairs.
Maria had been hesitant about calling for Rhea or letting her continue sleeping when she saw Rhea coming down the stairs.
Maria's face immediately lit up.
"Ree, you're awake! You're just in time! Come, let's eat!"
"Okay," Rhea muttered before sitting at the dining table.
Soon, the maids came to serve the dishes.
Fabian glanced at her and frowned.
"Aren’t you going to invite us to eat?"
"Invite who?"
Rhea casually asked as she reached out for some vegetables.
"Who else should you invite besides your mother and me?!"
He roared, getting upset.
Although he knew his daughter had a promising future, seeing that she was excelling in her studies and work, he felt she was getting increasingly impolite, especially her indifference to her parents. It would be hard for any in-laws to want a daughter from a renowned family that was not just a little older than most but also rude.
"What about them?!"
Fabian gestured at the maids.
However, none of the maids dared to make a sound.
"you're deliberately going against me, aren't you?"
He put his bowl down and growled.
"Is this how you're supposed to act around your father?"
At the same time, Rhea also put her bow! down and looked at him firmly.
"How am I supposed to act?"
"Rhea Moore, don't think you can parade all over us just because you won a few awards.I am your father, after all!"
Fabian slammed his spoon down angrily.
Seeing that he was furious, Maria quickly stepped in.
"All right, enough.Ree just came back after so long. We'll just let things slide for now."
"It's a miracle she's back, isn't it? Should I kneel and bow to her to thank her for coming back?"
In a blink of an eye, Fabian directed his rage toward his wife.
"What do you mean..."
Before Maria could finish her sentence, Rhea took her turn, slamming her spoon on the table, saying, "Since it's no big deal, T'll leave!"
With that, she stood up and walked out.
"Ree! Ree!"
Maria was so anxious that she wanted to chase after her daughter, but she knew she knew her husband was also angry.
She had no idea why the two would suddenly lock horns.
As Rhea walked out the door, she looked back and spat coldly, "You always waste your anger on your own family. If you're so capable, why don't you let it out on Cameron?!"
Then she turned around and left without missing a beat. Her words almost made Fabian go ballistic.
His breathing became shallow as he stroked his chest.
Maria had no choice but to turn back and tend to her husband.
"Calm down! Don't be angry!!!"
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1433--"How can I not be angry at what she said?!"
Fabian snapped, pointing at the empty doorway as rage pulsed through his veins. He wondered when his well-behaved and sensible daughter became so impertinent.
‘Isn't it too late for her to still be going through her rebellious stage?’
"Ree, she..." Maria paused.
She wanted to say that Rhea was telling § the truth, but she dared not continue.
Ultimately, Maria sighed and continued, ''Ree is still young. There are many things she doesn't understand. You shouldn't hold it against her."
"Am I holding it against her?! I..."
In the end, Fabian plopped on his seat with a pant and did not continue.
At this point, Maria had no choice but to change the subject.
"You're not usually like this. Why are you so on edge today? Haven't things been going well? Isn't it good if we all just live our days happily? Why did you pick a fight with our daughter?"
"Well?!"
He yelled as he reached out to drink, only to find the glass empty.
Just with one word, Maria knew that something had happened. She quickly helped fill up the glass and handed it to him.
"What's wrong?"
Fabian did not reply as he gulped down the water in silence. His face had turned gloomier than before.
Seeing her husband like this made Maria’s heart grow heavy.
After thinking for a moment, she asked, "Is it the project?"
Fabian had been busy with the project's bidding in recent days.
Just a while ago, he seemed to be in an elevated mood, saying everything was going well, and he could not wait to lay back and wait for the money to fall from the sky.
Now, it seemed like he had tun into a wall.
‘That can’t be the case.Didn't Ron agree to the project already?’ This wasn't something anyone could pass around singlehandedly.
With such a foolproof contract, what else could happen? What she said seemed to have hit a sore spot.
Fabian immediately reached out for the wine glass, and Maria quickly poured some wine into it.
Then he emptied the glass in a blink of an eye and gritted his molars before gloomily saying, "Cameron doesn't want to meet me!"
"He doesn't want to meet you? What do you mean?"
Maria did not understand.
"I went to his office to look for him, but he wasn't there. Then I headed to his house, and he wasn't there either. One of the housekeepers said he hadn't been home for the past few days," he explained bitterly.
"I'm afraid he’s going to change his mind. The day of the bidding is nearing, and I'm just hoping he doesn't pull the rug."
Since the bidding day was near, Fabian wanted to see Cameron and set the foundation so he could feel more at ease.
However, Cameron was always away whenever Fabian reached out to him.
Fabian even went to Cameron's office to find him, only to be stopped by the front desk telling him that Cameron was too busy to see anyone these days.
‘Too busy? He is just avoiding me! He must have changed his mind.
Who knows what he’ll do now!’ "How can that be?! He has already promised you, hasn't he? Didn't you say everything was going well?!"
Maria did not know much about business deals, but hearing that Cameron had agreed before this, she wondered why he would suddenly change his mind.
"Besides, the miracle doctor I found is helping cure Tasia.Ron owes us now."
Fabian heard his wife’s words and raised his eyes to look at her.
"Huh? The doctor cured Tasia?"
"No, but soon! Medicinal herbs take time. We'll have to wait for the effect to kick in," Maria muttered.
Although she felt that it was working, she wasn't quite sure.
It was in a spur of a moment that she mentioned it.
When her husband asked again, she dared not promise anything.
"Wait? How long do I have to wait?! I think Cameron is going back on his words!"
After taking a few more sips, Fabian stood up abruptly.
"No, I have to go to find him again!"
"If he doesn't want to see you, where else can you go to look for him? Didn't you say he hadn't been home for the past few days? Where will he be if he isn't home? In his office?" Maria questioned.
"I heard that there's a woman in the picture recently,.." Fabian slowly said after pondering for a moment.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1434--"A woman?!"
Maria was taken aback.
"What woman? Has Cameron found someone new? Hold up, didn't you say your brother-in-law loves your sister so much that he vowed never to find another? It's been so many years. Why did he suddenly go searching for a new woman?"
Fabian was already very irritated and snapped, "I don't know.Maybe she's just a colleague, or maybe she's just asking him for a favor.I didn't see them together!"
It was because he didn't see him that he felt a little flustered. He had no idea what was going on.
Cameron avoided his calls and text messages. It was evident that Cameron was avoiding him.
This was an ominous sign.
However, didn't Cameron say that everything was going well? Did something happen? He was puzzled.
When he returned dejected, his daughter pulled such a stunt on him that he couldn't hold back his anger.
"Perhaps it's a good thing you don't meet him," Maria reassured him.
"What do you mean?"
Fabian shot her an impatient look.
‘What an idi*t. How can it be a good thing? If I don't win the bidding this time, I won't be able to get any big project investments."
Fabian had been boasting about this project and how much profit it would bring to the company.
Hearing this, investors wanted to cooperate with him.
However, if he failed to obtain this project, he wouldn't be able to get any investments, and the company's capital chain would be broken.
The bank's debts wouldn't be repaid, and he would go bankrupt in the blink of an eye.
Fabian didn't dare to think about this.He couldn't accept such an ending.
"I have a question," Maria muttered as she slowly sat down on the chair next to him.
"Is Cameron just not seeing you, or does he not want to see anyone?"
"You don't know how bad his temper is. He obviously doesn't want to see anyone at all," he snorted, dissatisfied.
He was both afraid and annoyed with his brother-in-law. He hated this temper of his.
Cameron was already on top of the pyramid.
Why couldn't he help his own family members? He took pride in being honest and upright, but would it hurt to stretch out his hand to help Fabian a bit? If Cameron did that, Fabian would already be rich and powerful. He wouldn't have to look at the faces of those investors.
"Exactly!"
Maria nodded, following his words.
"It means that he's not deliberately avoiding you. It's just one of his moods. Think about it. Didn't you say he agreed to give you this project last time? a "Y-Yes!"
Fabian felt a little guilty.
It did sound like Cameron agreed to do so in retrospect, but Fabian wasn't sure.
"See?"
She ignored his guilty conscience and continued, "Cameron has always been a rigid man. Although he's not quick to adapt, one thing is for sure is that he’ll always keep his word.
"Since he promised to give you the project, you shouldn't worry. He'll give it to you. Maybe he doesn't want to see you because the bidding is in a few more days. He doesn't want to look suspicious.
"Look at it this way. You're his brother-in-law. If you are seen with him at this time, and you manage to win the bid, people will begin to gossip. That's why he can't see you. He won't even answer your calls because he can't risk being caught,"
Maria justified.
Only then did the frown on Fabian's face loosen up.
The more he listened, the more he felt that it made sense.
His anger slowly turned to joy, and he looked at her with a smile.
"I never expected my wife to be so analytical. You're such a good wife.I'm so lucky you're mine!"
"Hey!"
She shoved him gently with a grin on her face.
"Have I ever not been a good wife?! You just don't know how to cherish me! I understand your brother-in-law too well.It wouldn't be surprising if he wanted to look for another woman after all these years.
"Although he's already turning old and gray, he is still well- groomed and holds a high position in the government.Women will willingly throw themselves into his arms. With how Tasia is, it's not impossible for him to want to find another woman to give him a son."
"Listen to yourself..."
Fabian didn't want to listen to her gossip.
"I just said you're a good wife, don't make me take it back! If Cameron finds a new woman, will he still keep me in mind???"
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1435 --Although Fabian always had a bubbly front, he knew the only reason Cameron even gave him a second look was because of his late sister.
Fabian would bring up his late sister from time to time, and it was only then that Cameron's face looked less gloomy.
If Cameron had moved on and found a new woman, his sister would have been completely forgotten.
What good would that have on Fabian, then?
"I'm just repeating after you. You're a man, after all.You should understand men better than me.No matter how affectionate a man is, it's been years..."
Maria trailed off, feeling wronged.
Still, she was just telling the truth.
Before Fabian allowed his anger to take over, he reeled himself in.
Thinking about it, he felt that his wife was right.
He was also a man, after all.
He thought Cameron must have lost his mind to mourn over his late wife for so many years.
If it were Fabian for a change, he would bean have courted a few women long ago.
His gaze subconsciously fell on his wife, and the little thought in his heart did not escape that woman's keen intuition.
"What is it? Are you planning to replace me already?"
Maria retorted with raised eyebrows.
"of course not! I'm just thinking about what you said!"
He quickly replied.
"Don't point your finger at me.Look at yourself.Look at how much you've praised Cameron.I'm sure you'd want to go with him if I'm dead, don't you?"
"Of course, I'd want to!"
She was very frank and immediately continued, "He’s more capable, more handsome, and has a higher status than you, but..."
Just as Fabian was about to lose his temper, Maria abruptly changed her tone, "He looks down on me.I have my pride!"
Fabian was speechless.
Although his wife's words weren't pleasant, they were still the truth.
"You're lucky you have your pride," he snorted.
The two sulked quietly for a moment before Maria couldn't hold herself back anymore and said, "You're in the wrong as well.I know you're stressed about work, but why did you have to let your anger out on Ree? She hasn't been back for such a long time. It's rare for her to want to come home. Now, you've made her leave again."
"I am her father. Are you asking me to let her stomp all over my head like that?!" He raised her voice.
‘That’s ridiculous! There’s no reason for me to let a child disrespect me like that."
"This is all your fault! Look at the girl she turned out to be.She spends all day in some research lab.The other day, Mr.Blanc asked if I wanted to set her up with his son.I haven't even brought it up, and she's already gone."
"Which Mr.Blanc is this?"
This piqued Maria's interest.
"It makes no difference which Mr.Blanc this is.Can you decide for your daughter???"
Fabian replied mockingly. She fell silent.
‘He’s right."
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1436--Anastasia wasn't expecting any visitors today.
Therefore, she was surprised when she turned into her house to find a car parked at the door.
A woman was leaning on the side of the vehicle. She looked slender, with a casual yet elegant posture.
It was a silhouette she would love to have and was jealous of.
The car was parked diagonally at the door, blocking her way in.It seemed like the woman was waiting for her.
Anastasia rolled her window down and poked her head out.
"Rhea?"
Rhea straightened up, making her legs look even more slender. She casually stuffed her hands in her pockets and looked at Anastasia before chuckling.
"You're home."
"Mhm.Are you looking for me?"
Anastasia still asked with her eyebrows raised, although she probably could have guessed why her cousin was there.
"Yeah."
Rhea nodded as she looked at her with a half-smile.
Behind that smile was a hint of scrutiny.
Anastasia felt a little uncomfortable.
However, it was her cousin, after all—one of her few relatives.
It was also rare for Rhea to come over like this, so Anastasia politely said, ''Let me get someone to open the door, and we'll park our cars inside."
"Okay."
With that, Rhea turned to get into her car and moved it out of the way.
When Cameron and Anastasia were not around, the housekeepers would not open the door for anyone else.
It was a different story when it came to Maria.
She came and went so often, constantly worrying about Anastasia, that the housekeepers were used to her.
Rhea was a different story.
She rarely came over, so the housekeepers didn't recognize her.
She stayed outside the gate and waited without contacting Anastasia.
It was starting to get dark, and the lights in the room were turned on, giving it a warm feeling.
"Did you change the lights?"
Rhea asked, looking up.
She remembered that they were white the last time she came here.
"Yeah, I just changed it recently.I thought the house looked dead, so I changed into this instead.Doesn't it feel more welcoming?" Anastasia replied.
"What do you want to drink? Juice? Milk? Or just ...water?"
Rhea didn't answer and just stared at her.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing.Do you have anything else?"
Rhea looked around as if this was her first time here.
"No.I've been drinking plenty of plain water recently, so few choices exist. If you want something else, I'll get someone to buy it, "Anastasia suggested as she gestured to the maid.
However, Rhea waved.
"No, it's fine.I'll just get a glass of plain water."
"Okay!"
With that, Anastasia turned around to pour two glasses of water.
This small task could be regarded as a form of exercise as well.
Lily mentioned that moving around was good for her body, and Anastasia listened faithfully.
Rhea's eyes narrowed as she watched Anastasia's back.
Although she didn't come often, she was aware of Anastasia's body condition from her mother's rambling.
However, judging from her current figure, it did look like Anastasia had slimmed down a little.
She was, of course, still chubby, especially when she was compared to Rhea's exquisite figure.
However, Anastasia did look much better.
Even her complexion seemed to have improved, with light pink lips.
"Did you take the medication that the miracle doctor prescribed?" Rhea suddenly asked.
Anastasia, who was still pouring water, was slightly startled.
She froze for a moment before quickly returning to her senses.
"Yes, I did."
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1437--Anastasia thought her aunt had told Rhea to ask her about that, so Anastasia nodded and lied to avoid any trouble.
Nonetheless, the prescription would not work because Lily said it was unsuitable for Anastasia’s case.
Therefore, Anastasia obeyed Lily’s request and did not take Austin’s prescription.
However, she could not let her aunt find out, or Maria would go on another ramble.
Rhea squinted.
‘Liar! She wouldn’t be like this if she had taken Austin’s prescription.Although she might lose some weight, she would still be depressed and groggy. She mustn't have taken it, yet she lies so casually. She has grown up!’
"Oh, why are you so free today? I heard from Aunt Maria that you've been very busy.It sounds like you're working in some lab?"
Anastasia asked as she walked over with two glasses of water and handed one to Rhea.
When Rhea took the glass from her cousin, Anastasia had no idea if Rhea had initially touched her wrist before sliding her hand down to grab the glass.
This startled Anastasia, and she almost dropped the glass.
"Yeah.I'm a part of a project, so I'm there to conduct some experiments," Rhea answered lightly.
After taking a sip of water, she watched Anastasia gulp hers down.
"I recall you hating plain water. You'd typically add sugar to it. What changed?"
"I can't always stick to my bad habits," Anastasia answered emotionally.
She hated plain water in the past.
The drinks she liked were sugared fruit juices and sodas.
Later, she dared not drink any of that once she was on a diet.
However, she would still crave them.
Now that Lily had taught her to gradually adapt to drinking plain water, Anastasia had gotten used to it.
Lily even recommended adding a piece of lemon if she wanted to.
"What kind of experiment are you doing?"
Anastasia looked up and asked curiously.
''I remember you studying biomedicine back in college."
"I did."
The corners of Rhea's lips twitched, and a meaningful smile flashed across her face.
"I didn't think you'd remember."
"We're cousins, after all." Anastasia sighed.
"I don't have any siblings, and neither do you. We're the closest thing being sisters.I would spend most of my days at your place when I was younger. We grew up together, but..."
"But?"
Rhea leaned forward, urging her to continue.
"It's just that as I grew up, I became fatter.I was useless, while you were always intelligent. You've always scored better and picked up on skills faster than me.You looked better, and your figure was better than mine too."
After a pause, Anastasia continued enviously, "Now you're even working on a big project.You're...amazing!"
One would say that Rhea's life was what Anastasia had dreamt of.
‘Rhea has an excellent figure and is knowledgeable, accomplished, and capable. She doesn’t need to rely on her parents either."
To Anastasia, Rhea had won in life.
‘Then there’s Lily, who is also pretty and has a great figure. She has such a lovely marriage and an adorable child.Even her perfume business...Why is everyone living a better life than me? Everything they do is better than me."
Rhea could see the envy plastered on Anastasia's face, and she enjoyed basking in it.
Rhea's smile widened as she arrogantly said, "It's because I worked hard."
"Yeah, you did work much harder than me," Anastasia nodded, agreeing.
She was working hard now too.She worked hard toward losing weight. She had been going around this for years and hoped it would be bean effective this time.
"Have you given away all the flowers and plants in your house?"
Rhea looked around and asked casually, with one hand elegantly holding the glass.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1438 --"Yes! I wanted to tidy the place so people would feel more comfortable." Anastasia followed Rhea's gaze and looked around.
" It didn't feel like it before, but after clearing the room, I feel much lighter, and the room is much more comfortable. It's a lot brighter than before, don't you think?"
Rhea raised her eyebrows and did not say anything.
Seeing this, Anastasia smiled.
"Oh, I forgot that you don't come here often. You probably don't know what it was like before. Anyways, I like the way the house is now. Even my father said the house seems brighter, and I look more cheerful."
There was a bright smile on Anastasia’s when she mentioned her father. Her face was full of pride and joy. Her smile was so dazzling that it was a little blinding to Rhea.
Cameron was a good father whom Anastasia was proud to have.
Although he could have spent more time with Anastasia, he always gave her all his love and doted on her.
As for Rhea, her parents often quarreled over money, business, and other things when she was a child.
Whenever Anastasia visited their house, they would treat her like a princess and ignore Rhea.
They prioritized Anasatia over everything.
Rhea was their biological daughter, yet she always felt outcasted.
Anastasia had a good father who loved her wholeheartedly and had a high societal position that everyone wanted to curry her favor.
Everyone would try to please her just to get a few good words across to her father.
Anastasia was everyone’s focus ever since she was young, the apple of the public's eye.
Thinking of this, Rhea tightened her grip around the glass before lightly saying, Really? I heard plants in your house are good for the body."
"Maybe," Anastasia said with a slight smile.
But it may not be for everyone.
Some people are different.
Some people are allergic to pollen, while some sleep just fine.
Rhea, you take biology.
You should know more about this than I do, right?"
"I've heard of it but didn't go into detail."
Rhea lowered her gaze and stared at the glass of water, lightly saying, "So, I can't help you with your body.I'm sorry."
Anastasia shook her head.
"Don't say that! Aunt Maria has helped me so much, finding doctors and trainers and making me try so many different methods, yet none of them worked. There's nothing you can do.What's more, your parents have already helped me so much.I'm very grateful for it."
"They did it out of love."
Rhea's face was expressionless.
Yes, out of love.
Out of love for the power in Cameron's hands—for money and wealth.
They would voluntarily go out of their way just for the Rollins family.
"Rhea, do you have a boyfriend?"
Anastasia tilted her head.
That question surprised Rhea, and she froze for a moment before shaking her head.
"No."
"You're so beautiful and smart. How can no guys be chasing you? I know. You must've been rejecting all of them," Anastasia said smilingly.
"Heh."
Rhea snorted lightly.
"Why would I need a boyfriend? I just want to focus on bean my career! My experiments are much more interesting than guys."
"You're independent, but I think Uncle Fabian and Aunt Maria are getting anxious."
Hearing this, Rhea frowned irritably.
"That has nothing to do with me.I'm the one who will be getting married, not them."
With that, she stood up.
It seemed like she had had enough of small talk as she approached Anastasia.
"What's wrong?"
"You seem a lot better. Is someone treating you? Is it Lily Christian?"
Rhea studied Anastasia, and her complexion looked different.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1439--Not only Anastasia’s complexion, but it also seemed like she was a whole new person.
Ever since she gained weight, although Rhea seldom came over, Anastasia would have her gaze lowered as she dragged herself around. She seemed sluggish, and each word she said was poisonous.
Now, there was a sparkle in her eyes, and she had her back straightened. She no longer avoided eye contact when she spoke.
Anastasia was an entirely new person.
Maria had mentioned that name too many times.
Even in the laboratory, Austin would bring up Lily's name.
It was hard for Rhea not to remember it.
"No.It isn’t much of a treatment.I'm just going to Lily’s place to eat from time to time.Aunt Maria seems to have something against her.Did she say something? Lily is a lovely person! I'll introduce you to her when I get the chance! "Since both of you are so smart, I'm sure you two will get along well!"
Anastasia thought Rhea's prejudice stemmed from what her aunt had told her and quickly explained the situation.
"Sure!"
After forcing a smile, Rhea continued, "There are still things I need to do, so I'll get going.Take care!"
"It's already so late.Aren’t you going home?"
Anastasia knew Rhea did not like going home, so she quickly added, "You rarely go back.Aunt Maria misses you very much!"
Rhea paused in her footsteps and sneered.
''Misses me?"
Although those words carried a heavy meaning, she did not reply and left.
Anastasia followed Rhea to the door, watching her enter the car and drive away chicly.
It was impossible not to envy her.
Anastasia had always wanted to learn to drive, but her body restricted her from sitting in the driver's seat.
On top of that, she could go nowhere, even if she could drive.
Anastasia did not even like going out back then.
Ultimately, she gave up that dream of hers.
Now, her mood seemed to have improved. She was more cheerful now and enjoyed going out more. She felt it would be more convenient for her to learn how to drive as she would usually have to get a driver to send her to Lily's house.
The idea that she had buried now resurfaced after so many years.
When Lily opened her eyes, she saw a small head with two round eyes fixated on her without blinking.
She was startled, and it took her a moment before she remembered that she had slept in her son's room.
She did not expect to sleep so soundly that she did not even notice when the child woke up.
"Good morning!"
Lily smiled and rubbed the little boy's head.
Galen stared at her with widened eyes.
"Mommy, why did you sleep here? Where is Daisy? Did you come here to sleep with me?"
"Yes.I slept here to accompany you. From now on, Mommy will sleep here with you, okay?" She replied, gently patting his head.
The child would habitually look for Daisy as soon as he woke up.
His dependence on her and how the two got along were prominent.
That was a good thing.
It meant that Daisy genuinely cared for Galen, and he liked her too.
However, it was also alarming that he was becoming too dependent on her.He would not be vigilant or prepared if Daisy did something bad.
Right now, Lily planned to take Daisy out of the picture slowly.
Galen did not understand any of this.
All he heard was that his mother would accompany him in the future, and like any child, he was delighted to hear that.
"Okay!"
Then he asked, "What about Daisy???"
"She'll be sleeping in the guest room and tend to you during the day.."
Lily softly answered as she sat up and pulled him into her arms.
Spoiled by mr. russell chapter 1440 -"Mommy has a question for you.Do you like Daisy?" Lily asked Galen gently.
She wanted to figure out how important Daisy was to him.
“I like her!"
The little boy nodded without hesitation.
Then Lily asked, "So, how much do you like her?"
"Hmm..."
He didn't know how to describe it and looked a little flustered.
"Let's put it this way.Do you like Daisy more, or do you like Mommy and Daddy more?"
She guided him.
"Mommy and Daddy!"
That was a good comparison.
Lily was relieved to hear that.
If Galen chose Daisy over her and Alexander, she would have to reflect on herself.
"Well, Mommy wants to tell you that Daisy will leave us soon."
Hearing this, Galen's eyes widened.
"Why?"
"She's a nanny we hired to take care of you.You won't need someone to babysit you when you get older. She may also leave if she has something she has to do at home. She's just like the other maids in our house. We just have an employment relationship. That means that they're just at our house to work.Once they're done with work, or when they don't want to do it anymore, they leave.Do you understand?"
Lily wanted to explain things simply, but it seemed like Galen was still confused.
With a frown, he seemed deep in thought as he tried to digest what his mother had said.
Just as Lily continued to think of another way to explain this, he suddenly asked, 'Why can't she take care of me all the time?"
This question surprised her.
After all, he could barely say a coherent sentence.
"No one can take care of you forever, baby, including Mommy and Daddy. Now, you're a little man, but soon, you'll grow into a big man.By then, you'll have to learn to take care of yourself.Of course, we will take care of you when you're still young!"
Then she pointed to her stomach.
"When you grow up, you'll also take care of your younger siblings, won't you?"
When Galen heard that he would be responsible for caring for his younger siblings, his eyes lit up.
"Of course!"
"Then, if Daisy leaves one day, you can't cry, okay?"
This was Lily's attempt to slowly ease him into Daisy's departure, lest he couldn't cope later.
"Is she not coming back?"
""Hmm...maybe!" Lily replied after thinking about it.
"Oh."
Galen pouted and didn't say anything else.It was hard to tell how much he understood, but at least this would mentally prepare him.
As the two talked, the door was suddenly pushed open, and Daisy stood at the door.
When she saw the mother and daughter, she was startled and smiled.
"Madam, you're awake! Am I late?"
"Daisy..."
Galen jumped down from the bed and ran toward her with open hands.
Daisy bent down to pick him up and said with a smile, "Have you brushed your teeth and washed your face yet?"
"No,No…" he replied softly.
"Okay. I'll bring you to get washed up," Daisy said as she gently tapped his nose.
"Okay."
Seeing that Daisy was leaving with the child in her arms, Lily suddenly called out to her, "Daisy."
Daisy turned around with a puzzled look on her face.
"Yes, madam?”
